#thank you femmes

as a femme that felt guilt and shame for wanting to treat a strap like an extension of who it’s attached to (i already felt like embracing my femininity would make me less gay so the strap thing just kinda sent me through a loop) it is so freeing to learn that it is normal and there are lesbians out there who love that shit. it’s so freeing learning about my community and all the aspects of us that defy the cisgender and heteronormative society that tries to give us a set of rules on how to behave as lesbians.
i also just wanna say that as a lesbian in her early 20s i find your perspective as an older stone butch so valuable ❤️❤️❤️
I seriously can’t thank you enough for this message. I hate that the guilt and shame that often comes with being stone is such a shared experience for us across both butch and femme identities. I feel like I finally found a space here to discuss, connect, and share the experiences I’ve been having over the last two decades. I’m glad you’re enjoying learning and connecting with the community, too. I love reading what stones have to share here, the words that resonate so deeply with me that I can’t slam the heart or reblog button fast enough.
Thank you for bringing your experience here. Stone sex is, hands down, the hottest thing on earth. Thank you for treating our straps like the dicks we’ve earned. Thank you for desiring us in this way. Thank you for the devotion to such an affirming experience. Thank you for sharing yourself and your body with us. Thank you for the bodily safety you provide in the way that only stone femmes can.

A while back i made a post about lesbians needing our own version of bear culture bc im tired of wlw spaces treating fat and hairy ppl as second rate when were hot af- After a lot of positive reblogs, tags, and comments this is for y’all’s consideration! A flag for any and all bear lesbians out there 💕
Just some background info: a bear is traditionally a larger (usually fat) hairy gay man who embraces and celebrates the fact they resemble a bear! for lesbian spaces where stigma around both those traits is still a big issue- this could still be the same thing for us 💕 Embracing body hair, fatness, and the ruggedness that comes with it.
Bear dykes/bear lesbians could be butch/femme/unaligned/nonbinary/on testosterone/on estrogen, or anything else. Being a bear is a celebration of a stigmatized body type and body hair- not a commitment to masculinity.
Possible nicknames: teddy bears, bear dykes, ursa/ursulas, butch bear, femme bear (feel free to add more)
What do yall think? 🥰

The way Azirphale is underestimated and practically infantalized by heaven is so closely tied to his femininity and I think we should talk about it more because I just want to shout about how relatable the way he's treated in his workplace is as a woman working in a traditionally male field
It's in all the little niggling comments from your boss about personal things that hold no bearing on your work
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and the assumption that what you're doing must be simple if it was assigned to you
Tumblr media Tumblr media
your work is trivialized
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and you get these the placating smiles when you're told plans and proposals are rejected and passed over
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
or when your complaints are dismissed
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and you get more of the same from upper management
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it all feels so frustrating and draining but you're at work so all you can do is take a breathe put on that mask and move on with your day
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is all so deteimental to your emotional well being and textually, so much of this is tied to Aziraphale's softness, his gayness - his femininity
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The thing about working in an environment and gives you this feeling - of being simultaneously destrought watching your belief in yourself get chipped away but also just so irate becuase you know you don't deserve it - is how it builds. It sinks under your skin and feeds into this indignant dejection until you can have a moment of release - but Azirphale doesn't get to bitch about it over drinks with friends, he doesn't get a lunch break where he can go for a walk and listen to an angry scandi death metal playlist, he doesn't even get the chance to cry about it in the bathroom for 5 minutes before confronting it again
(And I talked a little bit about it in the tags of this beautiful photoset but this all comes into play whenever Crowley dismisses his plans or calls him an idiot. These are purely emotional reactions; I really don't think Crowley means much by it - he respects Aziraphale's opinion and genuinely thinks he's brilliant - but Crowley is so quick to use this terminology when Aziraphale is making a decision Crowley thinks is wrong and he doesn't know how much this hurts Aziraphale. Just like Aziraphale doesn't understand the true impact the Fall had on Crowley, Crowley doesn't understand the ways heaven has been tearing away at Aziraphale's self worth)
Aziraphale has been facing this constant drip of denigration since before the beginning of time and has never released the pressure valve. At this point, he's a bomb waiting to go off

It's no secret that consent online is just as important as consent irl. However, navigating consent on Tumblr can look a little bit different than in person. Here are some reminders on how to do so:
ASK before sending sexually forward messages or photos. Unless someone has it very clearly stated on their blog that they willingly accept sexual messages and photos, ask before you do so. Additionally, posting NSFW content ≠ consent. Remember that just because someone is not in a monogamous relationship does not necessarily mean they're seeking a partner or willing to flirt. If you're not sure, ASK!
RESPECT DNIs. Those are in place for a reason. People clearly state those who they are not comfortable interacting with. Do not cross that boundary. Especially respect age DNIs. No one under 18 should be engaging with NSFW content, but some blog set strict 21+ or 25+ rules.
BE CLEAR with your intentions. Tell that person exactly what you're looking for. Do not use the guise of friendship to seek out sexual attention. Do you want to just exchange messages or photos as well? Do you want something for just this once, or do you hope to maintain an ongoing relationship with this person?
"Yes" to exchanging sexual messages or sending photos is not a blanket statement. Be sure to establish boundaries/limits. This can include sexual acts that should not be discussed or whether or not you'll show your face in photos.
Understand that people's boundaries can change. Just because someone was once willing to exchange photos or sexual messages doesn't mean that they always will be. If they tell you "not right now" or "maybe later," that does not mean press them until they say yes. Respect the boundary and move on.
Not everyone wants to engage with NSFW content. Refrain from adding sexual tags/comments on SFW posts. Make your own post!
Respect "No" and "I'm not interested." Do not press someone or think you can change their mind. If someone blocks you, they want you to leave them alone. Do not make new blogs or message a sideblog to try to talk to them. If you saved photos they sent you, delete them.
Do not feel guilty about enforcing your own boundaries. If someone crosses a line, you have every right to tell them they made you uncomfortable or block them. You don't need to sacrifice your comfort level to appease others.
Be safe, remember consent, and have fun!!

Portrait #7 in my Butch & Femme Portrait Series
Model: @femmelottiematthews
[ID: A digital portrait of femmelottiematthews sitting in her wheelchair against a pink background. She is wearing a floral top and jean shorts over patterned fishnets. She is wearing an iridescent purple Doc Marten shoe on her one foot. Her wheelchair is light blue, and has a rainbow-coloured strap along the bottom. In the top left and top right corners of the piece, there are line drawings of the comedy and tragedy masks. In the bottom two corners are scrolling, ribbon-like designs. There are lines radiating from her torso and her chair as if from the sun. END ID]

The common fan perception of Aziraphale in Ineffable Wives AUs is that she would present as pretty stereotypically feminine, corresponding to male-presenting Aziraphale’s effeminacy. However, I’d argue that that effeminacy is thematically specific to that male-presenting form, with the fact that Aziraphale revels in this visibly queer style in spite of how humans often look down on him for it being extremely relevant to how he views his life on Earth as liberation from Heaven’s strict gaze. This overtly queer presentation would immediately make him stand out to humans, precisely what he isn’t supposed to do as Heaven’s representative on Earth, but he leans into it anyway as a pure expression of the identity they try to stifle in all angels. This message would be lost if Aziraphale just leans into normative femininity when presenting as a woman. Therefore, in the case of Ineffable Wives, Aziraphale should be perceived as a butch lesbian. In this essay I will

Robin notices everything when it comes to Steve. Even the things he doesn’t notice about himself.
It’s at Family Video during a slow shift when she walks to where he’s bent over the counter. Her fingers card through his hair and grip, tugging the locks in her fist.
“Your hair’s getting long,” she comments, extending the o in long, “so pretty.”
When he’d usually bat her hand away with a remark of needing a cut, he stays quiet. Instead, she watches as his cheeks tint pink and the corners of his mouth twitch in a smile.
“You should keep growing it.” She says and smiles, tucking strands behind his ears. He nods with a muffled ‘yeah’, chewing on his lower lip.
So he keeps growing it. It touches his shoulders and he keeps playing with it, tucking it behind his ears, tying it back. Max uses his head to teach El how to braid.
He’s sleeping over Robin’s house one night and he’s sitting in the floor next to her desk chair, watching close in fascination as she paints her nails under her light. She glances at him every now and then with a little smile, finishing up her nails as quick as she can. Her smile grows when she turns in her seat to face him.
“Okay, gimme your hands. You’re turn,” she says and his face burns red, stuttering over excuses but Robin’s already grabbed his shaking hand and rested it in her lap. “Do you want this color or a different one?”
“Uh…I thought this one was kinda nice…” Steve says and he reaches on to the desk to pluck a bottle of baby blue polish from her small collection.
“That’s gonna be so pretty with your skin, babe.” Robin gasps and grabs it from his hand, shaking the bottle and cracking it open. When she finishes painting, she blows on his nails, admiring her work. “Well? What do you think?”
Steve takes one of his hands back. He holds it out in front of him, staring at the blue paint on his finger tips. It’s takes a few moments but soon he’s smiling brighter than Robin’s ever seen. He looks at her, his pupils blown with a giddiness she’s grown accustomed to and finds rubbing off on herself. She giggles with him and holds his hands, admiring his nails.
“They’re so pretty,” Steve says, looking between his nails and Robin’s face with such awe she can’t help but reach out and tuck his hair back.
“That’s because you’re so pretty!” She smiles at him, her brain working in overtime. She’s never seen him so happy. Dustin tries to get their attention over the walkie but Robin’s quick to shoot him down with an excuse of “girls night” and she doesn’t miss the way his eyes light up at her words. She keeps painting his nails for him and it takes forever for him to stop hiding his hands at work.
Months pass and Robin takes him out to the mall with her because she needs new clothes for when her aunts and uncles come to visit and she needs to look like a “normal” girl. They’re looking at skirts and Robin hates it more than anything, she’s grimacing at every bit of flowy fabric. But Steve? He’s holding them so delicately in his hands, feeling the material and appreciating the colors.
Robin stands next to him, props her chin on his shoulder and asks “do you wanna try it on?”
Steve’s like a deer caught in headlights. He drops the skirt on the ground with a gasp, crouches down to pick up the hanger, hits his head on the rack as he stands back up. “No, no, Robin. No. I cant.” And he’s shaking his head and hanging the skirt back up but he can’t get the hook on the rack. His hands shake and she can tell he’s getting frustrated so she takes the hanger from his grip and links their arms at the elbow.
“C’mon. Let’s go try it on,” she says and drags him to the dressing room. It takes a bit of work but finally Robin convinces him and she’s tugging his jeans off his ankles and pulling the black skirt up his legs. She looks at him through the mirror while she smooths the material over his legs. It hugs his hips and his butt, makes his waist look oh so skinny and feminine. The fabric flows gently over the tops of his thighs, making his long legs longer, showing off the muscle definition in his calves and thick thighs. “Oh yeah. We’re buying this.”
She gives Steve no room to argue, not like he could with how he’s staring at himself. And if they take an extra ten minutes in the dressing room because he can’t help but start crying, that’s between them and the mirror. Robin carries the skirt to the register, looking at the jewelry hanging by the cashier.
“Ooo, do you think the ruby one or the diamond necklace would look nicer on their skin? We’ve never bought them jewelry before, just haven’t had time to think about it,” Robin says to the cashier and steps out of the way, motioning to Steve behind her. His…their…cheeks are stained pink and they’re staring at Robin with wide eyes and a dropped jaw. She just told this cashier the skirt isn’t for her and then asked about jewelry to go with it.
The cashier looks at them, squints her eyes and nods. “The ruby. Definitely.”
Robin switches to purely androgynous pronouns for the next few years and nobody really questions the gradual changes in Steve. How their hair is always braided and done all nice, why their nails are always changing colors. Dustin even compliments the flick of eyeliner that Nancy has drawn on their lash line. Points to his own eye and says “that stuff on your face? That’s good shit”
Robin and Steve move away together because of course they do. They end up on the west coast, finding solace in the acceptance that is the SoCal gay community. They haven’t seen the kids or anyone from Hawkins in a couple of years, what with them all going off to college and the threat of the end of the world at bay.
Finally, they can invite everyone out for the holidays. Dustin, Mike, Lucas, Max, Eleven, Nancy, Jonathan, Eddie, even Argyle who had gone to Indiana that one time with Jonathan and wouldn’t even consider leaving him behind there and just stayed. They all fly out and it’s this big reunion at their house where they’re all told to dress nice so they can take cute pictures.
Robin is in a new deep maroon pantsuit, her lipstick the same shade as her outfit. She’s greeting the guests and calls on her lovely housemate to leave the kitchen and come say hello.
Out walks Stevie in a dress that matches Robin’s suit, her nails red and her hair curled with the top half of her long locks tied in a ponytail. Everyone’s quick to jump on her, complimenting her look and asking how she’s been. It’s an easy switch for them from Steve to Stevie and referring to her with she/her pronouns just feels right. It takes Mike a second before Nancy smacks him on the arm and he greets his old babysitter with a hug and tells her he likes her perfume. Though in his head, all he’s thinking is “holy shit hot guy from hometown is now hot girl with boobies don’t look at boobies don’t look at boobies don’t look at boobies don’t look-“
Eddie’s just standing there in SHOCK. His whole world has just been flipped upside down (no pun intended). He was positive he was gay, hell, he was crushing on Steve back when he lived in Hawkins. But now he’s staring at this girl, at Stevie, and he’s just blown away. King Steve the Hair Harrington is the prettiest girl he’s ever laid eyes on and oh no, is that his crush coming back to him? With a vengeance??
He walks over to say hello, taking her hand and kissing her knuckles in a way he can brush off as joking if it steps too far, but she’s looking at him with her big brown eyes and a little smile on her face and tucks her hair behind her ear. And her nose scrunches when she giggles and fuck, Eddie’s whipped.
Robin’s been watching them all night, how Eddie sits with a hand on her knee and pulls her seat out at the table.
So there really isn’t any surprise when she wakes up the next morning and Eddie still hasn’t left.
But then again, neither has Nancy😏

I think what I am enjoying most about Star Wars these days is how unabashedly sapphic fans are being in the open. Lesbians and queer women have always been the backbone of fandom spaces, but damn is it nice to see so many more people comfortable enough to express their excitement and love for gay women.
