sure i COULD ramble about how ai is one of the multiple things that check all the marks of humanity's seven deadly sins but would that be extreme

^^^ possibly insufficiently educated
#the pride the hubris of believing you can do better than innovation and nature by playing god and not in the fun way#the lust it's being used for in so many awful cases#the sloth the way its encouraging everyone to check original sources less before believing anything. Also to not take time to develop skill#the greed its being used for profit without consideration for ethics or fair labour#gluttony. we always have to be faster. shinier. better. no matter if it ends up being less convenient or wonky#the wrath it sows in between people creating more differences to be frustrated over. more hatred#the envy how it takes and takes. always trying to be as clever as the best humans. as beautiful as a real forest or sunset.#do you think the ai wants itself#if this were a scifi movie would we be the bad guys#but this is not a movie and the ai cannot love us. so we cannot love it. and there's that#my post#personal stuff#thinking aloud just silly yapping n jazz 没啥事做就这样咯~#( ̄▽ ̄)~*#when i was in primary school our textbooks for chinese had short stories and articles to learn about#there was a fictional scifi oneshot about a family in the future going to the zoo#the scifi zoo trip was going great until the zoo's systems went offline for a moment#and it was revealed that all the animals roaming in their enclosures were holograms#the real ones went extinct ages ago#when the computers came back online the holograms returned and there they were#honestly at first I thought it was a bit exaggerating#but I still think about it once in a while

they say that if a murderer kills a murderer, the amount of murderers in the world remains the same. this is not applicable to Assassins Georg, who kills twenty murderers each day-

There truly isn't a universal answer to what a man and woman "is" and that's where the whole "well, tell me what a man is if you say you are one" spiel falls apart for me. In trying to answer it, you fail to see that gender is not something to be understood empirically - it isnt something you can analyze like you might a hard scientific phenomenon, but gender something that is a tool. Gender is (one) of the languages we use to communicate to others, so like language, there is nuance.
My version of manhood* is one which differs from another man's. We use similar language to describe our malehood, perhaps, but much like language, we will have different dialects which we use. If I were to try to answer what a man "is," I will be informed by my own manhood* and the manhood my culture deems desirable. This is inherently exclusionary because it relies on myself and my culture to be the only "right" ones. I refuse to play this social game because it relies on this exclusionary mindset. Gender is what we humans make of it, and there simply cannot be an "answer" to the question as to what men and women "are." It varies culture to culture, by religion, by race, by a history of colonialism, even, and all of this is ignored, downplayed, and erased, essentially, when one acts like there is a universally-applicable answer to what a gender "is".
#trans#transgender#lgbt#lgbtq#ftm#mtf#nonbinary#this feels like gender 101 but it seems like some people are stuck trying to rationalize what 'is' and 'is not' a gender...#...which is pretty devastating to trans *and* cis people. eventually somebody is barred from simply being a man/woman/person...#...for instance drawing the line of 'womanhood' at 'is feminine' excludes butch and gnc trans and cis people intersex people...#...because the definition of feminine has to be exstablished and people *usually* have a definition in mind for what 'is' feminine...#...trans people are correct in saying what their gender is in *part* because there IS no correct answer to being a man/woman/person/ect...#...if there is to be no correct answer how then can you be wrong in saying what your gender is?#this is why trans inclusion is so threatening because there is recognition that people should be allowed to just *be*...#...and to *be* without constraints without expectations without conforming without conventionality or assimilation#so yes i am a man*. but i will not answer what makes me one. the premise itself is faulty#and you don't have to answer what makes you a man or woman or person or whatever else to anybody too#(and anyway when people ask that question it's always soooo fruedian. it's always been a source of discomfort)#(like in movies with a ~scary transsexual~ where a psychiatrist will come on screen/stage to explain transsexuality. very odd indeed)#(99% of the time in my experience all this is done in worse-than-bad faith and as a 'gatcha')#(as though a cis person would give a 'legit' answer to what makes them a man/woman. a legit answer doesn't exist really)#oh and this is also why xenogender and 'genderweirdos'/'genderfreaks' are completely understandable *and* valid :)#i say genderweirdos and genderfreaks with complete love and sincerity but i have seen people reclaim those narratives for themselves#ig i'm a genderfreak. i'm a gender weirdo. what the genderhell am i doing here? (radiohead if creep was more trans)#if anybody reads all these tags you deserve a medal

started watching A Murder At The End of the World and i'm only like 4 minutes in rn but oh my fucking god, they already did the impossible, they made synthesizing a literal audience not only not annoying but actually intriguing and effective. holy shit.
#james talks#james watches stuff#a murder at the end of the world#if you're new here or have never consumed any media: synthesizing a literal audience is one of the most annoying things anything can do#it is at best distracting and at worst condescending and grating bc it assumes and assigns audience reactions and interpretations#and it also REEKS of a lack of faith in the material itself to be able to speak for itself#most of the time it's done for no real purpose and the few times it has a narrative purpose it's done awfully#even a movie i ADORE like SCREAM (1996) was not immune to this.#the one single flaw in that movie to me is Kenny repeating the 'behind you' joke. not only is it not funny the second time but it's—#synthesizing the audience by making the characters an audience to the same movie as us and telling us how we should be reacting.#another movie that tries to do this and fails miserably is like Halloween: Resurrection which tries to make some commentary—#on media as exploitative entertainment and the audience as willing participants and equally culpable in the continuation of trauma but the—#execution of it is absolutely horrible and that's even beyond how bad the rest of the movie is.#every time the characters are watching the same media or there's an actual audience in the media it's literally never gone well—#at least as far as i have experienced. but this is the first time a literal audience in anything has actually worked bc it's like—#right in the opening and it's the audience actually getting invested in the story so THAT audience responding the same way actually WORKS#actually borderline genius tbh

#the thing is. and it doesn’t matter#but like. Ken’s love for Barbie was played as a joke but it also wasn’t#and I just think that his charisma and love should have been allowed to center her more and sort of …. I don’t know#sweep her up on the wave of his charm as she headed out of Barbieland into the real world#it didn’t even HAVE to make it full on romance#because I think the sort of splitting up of Barbie and Ken as this joined identity was good and necessary#and she had this journey to becoming human she had to take first#and tbh I think it would have worked if they had ended the movie as friends#with only the hint of something more#but the simple truth is that the most consistently human thing in the movie as far as SHE was concerned#was that he really loved her! and being loved that way. Is part of being human and even part of becoming human#it’s to feel that warmth and understand it#the Gloria thing didn’t really carry enough emotional weight for me. nor did the vague girlbossery. The creator was shoehorned in#or even the touching (in itself) montage of mothers and daughters at the end#but the realest relationship Barbie had the closest thing she had to it was being loved by Ken#and if they both became human? and she stepped into that space with that warmth of love supporting her#and making her step into this wider world? that would have been something#and the thing is yes yes. He’s basically the Michael Scott of Ken’s. He’s doing the things he shouldn’t be doing in reaction to it#and he has to learn and NOT do that and realize he’s kenough#but that stupid line at the end? Where Gloria’s like ‘honey he stole your house etc. don’t feel BAD for him’#rings hollow. especially because the General Public DID feel bad for him. He was the only one to feel bad for!!!!!!!!!#so Greta and co. Tried to make this Point about rejecting the guy who thinks you Owe him Something#But Ryan’s Ken was not really that guy! He just wasn’t! The core is too pure the love is too real! so the ending is just kinda mean#and it de-centralized her! Ironically enough!!!! Ken WANTED her to have the world. His best self did!#the movie should have let him give it to her. that is really it at the end of the day#barbie

the way i rewatch any part of rottmnt and once again come away from canon leo wondering where the actual heck are people getting this “oohhhh he only thinks he’s good for self sacrifice or as a tool, he has absolutely zero self worth whatsoever” instead of the canon version who’s kind of a manipulative lil stinker and KNOWS he has stuff to bring to the table but isn’t sure how to be Seen
it’s not that he thinks he’s worthless or not wanted. i fuckin promise you that about rise leo. he does not seriously think he is unloved or unwanted or ~one mistake away from being dropped by his own family~ or whatever
what he IS is rejection-sensitive in the way that makes any time he fails feel like the end of the world to HIM (setting aside that time he messed up and it did literally trigger the near-apocalypse and near deaths of him and his family lol), so he’d rather not try than risk messing up
