Turbulence…it can mean anything from a few little bumps to a catastrophic weather system that could knock your flying tin can right out of the air. In Surgery they call it a complication, the surgeons hit a snag, a bump in the road. Turbulence.
In your marriage, you called it Separation. One of the most unpredictable things about encountering turbulence is its aftermath. Everything’s been shaken up, undone, turned on its head. So you ask yourself time and time again, if you had the choice to avoid the plane crash, the turbulence altogether, would you take it? Would you play it safe and cancel the flight? Or would you get onboard and take your chances.
“Dad!” Little Lucy Seresin was just the spitting image of you and your grandmother. She was every bit you except for those big emerald green eyes. “Dad—!” You could see Jake making his way towards you and your three children through the crowd, all standing around your legs waiting for their father. The one who gave all three of your children those piercing emerald eyes that held what seemed like all the secrets in the universe. “Mum! Dads here! Dads here!”
“I see him sweetheart, there’s daddy.” You replied to your six year old, who, before you even had a chance to stop the only daughter of Jake Seresin, took off running across the crowded airport welcoming area towards her dad. You knew it had been far too long since Jake had been able to see his children, but you also knew it wasn't entirely his fault. The Navy was unpredictable as it was reliable.
“Hiya Lulu!” Jake smiled as wild as he could as he dropped to his knee to embrace the six year old human he’d helped create. “Oh I missed you sweetheart.” That much was true, Jake Seresin missed his kids every day that passed him by. You watched on with six year old Lennox by your side and two year old Samuel on your hip as Jake picked his daughter up and carried her back over to where you stood patiently waiting. “Lenny, how you going man?” Jake beamed as he tousled his eldest son's hair. “Far out kid, you shoot up any more and you’ll be taller than your mother.” You smiled at the dig unintentionally, before you knew you were smiling Jake had seen the corners of your lips turn upright into an unmissable smile.
“Mums says I’m growing like an inch a day because I eat all my green beans at dinner.” Jake took a moment to place Lucy back on solid ground before he came up back up to meet your gaze. It had been a few weeks since you had called Jake about your Christmas plans. He still wasn’t sure how to feel about them, deep down he wanted to tell you not to go. Deep down he was screaming at the top of his lungs for you to give him another chance, to come with him and the kids to his mothers for Christmas. But Jake knew better than to make a scene in front of the kids. But that didn't mean he couldn't be petty when he wanted to be just to get a rise out of you.
“Is that so?” Jake beamed that signature Seresin grin you’d fallen for back in college when he was captain of the football team and you were just that meek library dweller. He made you feel so much more than just the shy history buff you’d been back then, Jake Seresin had taught you a lot of things about yourself in the time you’d been his best friend and wife, now ex. Nowadays however you often caught yourself wondering if he’d miss you if you didn’t make it through the battle you were facing. The battle you hadn’t told anyone about except your mum. The battle that took all your strength to keep a secret close to your chest. The battle that was draining you or all your strength and energy. The battle that late at night you wish you could just end early.
Stage three A, triple positive grade three invasive doctoral carcinoma. Triple positive meaning that your specific cancer fed off oestrogen, progesterone and HER2 hormones. Lucky you right? Your first lumpectomy went rather well, but you were facing twelve weeks of chemotherapy treatment. Three oral tablets daily and two full days of IV sessions a week.
However, you were taking measures into your own hands as of tomorrow and were scheduled to be back in hospital for double mastectomy. You didn't want to wait and see if the cancer would spread and wanted every single bit out. But Jake was none the wiser about your medical status and assumed that you were off to Canada with friends for a white Christmas in Banff Alberta.
“Well—“ Jake carefully took little two year old Sammy from your grasp and placed his tied sleeping self on his own jean clad hip. “Mums are always right.” Jake quickly followed up as he looked down at Lenny. “There’s gonna be a ton of green beans at Grandma's house so you might overtake her quicker than anticipated buddy.” Jake gave the youngest of the three Seresin siblings a kiss on the cheek before he fully turned his attention to you. “Hey Hon—“ The way Jake stopped himself from finishing his sentence made your heart sink into the pit in your stomach. “Y/n, hey Y/n.” He corrected himself quickly as he picked up his duffel bag from the ground next to where he stood before you. “You look well.”
Oh if only Jake truly knew what you had to do in order to look well. The countless hours you spent throwing your guts up in the middle of the night. The sleepless nights that turned into days. The loss of appetite that had you dropping weight faster than you could blink. Your diagnosis had been quick but your symptoms had been even quicker to take over your daily life.  You kicked yourself every day for not getting yourself to a doctor sooner.
“Yeah, I’ve been doing alright—“ Things used to be so easy with Jake, now he was standing here before you in the middle of the airport bustling with people going to and from for the holiday season and you swore he looked like someone you didn’t even know. “The kiddos keep me busy, don’t you?” You asked Lucy as she reached out for your hand and looked at you like you were telling lies.
“Mums been sick.” She told her father confidently, like you weren’t about to die then and there on the spot from embarrassment. Little Lucy had a bad habit of throwing you and Jake under the bus with one another. “She said it’s just a cold, but she’s been sick for like four whole weeks.” Lucy didn’t know any better than what you had always told her, that you had the flu. A long flu at that. As soon as you’d get the kids off to school you’d head right back to bed and sleep. The medication your doctors had you on was pretty brutal, and chemotherapy didn’t help although you’d only just started that kind of oral treatment. It packed a punch you couldn't handle.
“Oh?” Jake frowned as the five of you all made your way through the airport and out towards the car park. “Mum didn’t tell me she was sick, if I had known I would have come sooner.” Jake looked at you like he was trying to read the lines on your face. He could tell you were tied, more than normal—but despite that knowledge he’d never say it out loud. His grandmother would roll over in her damn grave if Jake ever dared to point out a woman’s under eye bags or her tired expression. So he went with ‘well’.
“That’s why I didn’t tell you.” You didn’t mean for it to sound so harsh, but you knew by the hurt look on Jake’s face that it had struck an exposed nerve. He never wanted to separate. “What I meant was, I’m fine, Lulu here sees a runny nose and thinks it’s the end of days, I would have called you if I needed help.”
“Fair, I mean—you can’t be that sick right? With your big trip to Banff planned and all.” Jake shrugged it off like his heart wasn’t breaking inside his chest. This was about to be his first Christmas separated from the women he loved more than life itself. Being in North Island made it easier to run from his problems, but the minute he got on that flight he was back inside his own head, rewinding and rethinking everything he ever did wrong to drive you away.
“Right—“ You agreed softly beside the man you loved so deeply that it burned. “Yeah, I’m just so thankful you were so happy to take the kids with you to your mothers house this year.” To be perfectly honest you were expecting Jake to push back, ask more questions, be a little standoffish on the idea of you not being there for the kids on Christmas. But he never did, and you didn’t know what hurt more.
“They’re my kids as much as they’re yours—kinda think it’s the least I can do considering you’ve had them all year round.” It was the tone you didn’t appreciate, the almost passive aggressive attitude that made you frown as you walked with Jake and your kids back to your car.
“You can see the kids anytime you like.” You tried to keep your head level, but the way Jake had said it made you question his motives. “I’d never stop you, if you wanna have them more often I’m sure we can—“
“Wasn’t that a big part of the reason you wanted to separate?” Jake interrupted before you had a chance to finish what you were saying. You were about to say perhaps you could come up with a custody agreement. Something on paper that seemed fair to the both of you that took your work schedules into consideration as well as your living conditions, the kids schooling, holidays and extended family. You were happy to discuss it more, but this year that had passed the both of you by had gone in the blink of an eye. “You were stuck with the kids too much? Seems a little counter intuitive considering you’ve become their primary caregiver.”
“Jake—“ You sighed with a longing he’d missed. “Not in front of the kids, alright?” You were trying your best, truly. But here he was in all his glory, the love of your life and father of your children, telling you that you made a mistake just in a different kind of font. “We can talk about it all when we get home.”
“I’m not doing anything in front of the kids—“ Jake shrugged as he watched you unlock the car. “I’m just trying to understand why you can’t just admit why you really left.” Jake knew why you left, because of him. He knew he hadn’t done enough in your marriage to show you how much he loved you. He just wanted to hear you say it. That you didn’t love him anymore. He wanted you to tell him point blank that you had fallen out of love with him.
But you could never say that, because you never stopped loving him.
“You know why—“ You had to bite the inside of your cheek and grit your teeth to stop yourself from yelling, Jake Seresin after all these years still managed to get under your skin with ease. “Again, not in front of the kids, let’s just get home.”
“You seem frustrated.” Jake teased with that award winning grin, he knew exactly what he was doing. You always took the bait.
“Yeah, you’ve been here for five minutes and I’m already over it.” If you had rolled your eyes any harder than you did you would have fallen over.
“Little harsh—“ Jake chuckled as he placed Sammy into his booster seat, the little buckles that used to give him a hard time when the twins were younger were seamlessly clipped up in seconds. Jake made sure his youngest was safe and secure before he stood and turned his full undivided attention back to you. “I’ve missed you.” He said genuinely with a love so strong inside his heart you could nearly feel the warmth as he wrapped his arms around your shoulders and drew you in for a hug. “It’s good to see you, even if it’s just for one night before you go jet setting.”
With little hesitation you melted into the man you had married all those years ago with ease. Jake was your home, your guiding light. This past year had been rough without him and you knew deep down it had been rough for him too.
But sometimes love just wasn’t enough to save a marriage.
“Yeah—yeah it’s good to see you.” Jake felt your arms wrap around his torso as you let your cheek rest on his shoulder. “I’ve missed you too.” Jake’s scent had alway brought comfort to you, the overwhelming warmth of cedarwood and notes of vanilla bourbon always calmed you, grounded you in reality. “I’m uh—“ You wanted to tell him the truth about what was going on, but you just couldn’t do that to him. You couldn’t ask that much of him. Not after everything you’d both been through over the last year. “I’m just happy you’re here for the kids.”
“Mum! Lennox won’t let me have the window seat!”
“I’m older than you!” Lennox argued back as Jake groaned into your neck. Oh how he’d missed you, missed the kids, missed his family. North Island was great but without the four of you? Something was always missing. A piece of Jake was always missing.
“I’m not just here for the kids.” Jake pulled away at the sound of Lenny and Lucy arguing in the back seat over who was taking the middle seat. “But they’re a bonus, Honey.” He winked as he switched into dad mode and dropped his voice an octave or two. “Stop arguing, I’ll flip a coin.”
***~***~***~***~***~***~***~***
“Oh woah—“ Jake's eyes lit up as he walked through the front door of the home you’d recently finished moving into. He’d only ever seen it over FaceTime. “It’s bigger than it looked.” The little giggle you let out as you passed him by didn’t go unnoticed. Dirty bird, Jake thought to himself as his eyes lingered down to your ass as you walked ahead of him.
“It’s enough for me and the kids with a spare room.” You replied as Jake continued to look around. Reminisce of cardboard boxes used in your move still remained scattered around the place. “The kids still wanted to put up the Christmas tree even though they aren’t gonna be here.”
“Mama said Santa will know that we’re spending it with Grandma and Grandpa and will take all our presents there.” Lucy caught Jake's attention as she barreled into the living room where the Christmas tree stood tall and proud, decorated with mismatched decorations that you and Jake had collected over the years either from stores or the kids' school crafts. “She also said I could give this to you when you came to stay the night.” Lucy explained as she dropped to her knees and reached under the tree to where a perfectly wrapped gift labelled with Jake's name on it sat. “It’s from mum.”
“Lucy May—“ You nearly hissed as you padded into the living room. “Don’t tell lie’s please.” You pointed, the deal had been you’d get Jake one present and one present only knowing he probably wouldn’t have gotten you anything, and that you’d tell him it was from the kids until he opened it. “You tell your dad who it’s from.” Jake knew by the smirk that crept across his daughter’s face he recognised as his own, that it was from you. Lucy didn’t have to say another word. But she did regardless.
“It’s from me and Lenny.” She replied as Jake sat on the couch he used to sleep on during those nights the two of you couldn’t sleep in the same bed. Those nights where the two of you needed space and those nights where he thought he was doing the right thing by you and giving it to you. He sat on the couch that felt unfamiliar now and took the present his daughter gave him with grace. “Lenny! Dad’s opening our present!”
“What present?” Lennox frowned as he walked into the living room trying to carry two year old Sam. “Oh! Mums present.”
“Lennox!” You groaned aloud in utter defeat.
All Jake could do was laugh to himself as he looked over at you. You were as beautiful as ever, his one and only love. How the fuck did things get so messy where you had to use your children as scapegoats.
“It’s fine, it’s fine—I know it’s from the kids Honey.” Jake winked as you rolled your eyes and headed on into the kitchen where you were getting organised to cook dinner. You were starting to feel awfully tired–the oral chemotherapy was starting to make you feel sicker than you had been before you knew what was going on. A double edged sword really, you keep taking the pills? You get so sick you die. You stop taking the chemotherapy tablets? You get so sick you die. Either way you were dying or you convinced yourself you were.
But Jake could never know that, your kids could never know that, so you went about your routine as normally as you could without making a fuss.
“I might save this for when we get to Grandmas, I wouldn't wanna not have anything to open on Christmas morning Lulu.” Jake smiled as he brought her in for a hug between his legs. “I love you all so much.”
“We love you too dad.” Lucy replied as she hugged Jake back. “Mum loves you too.”
“Oh does she now?” Jake knew that putting all his faith in a six year old probably wasn't the best thing he could do, but right now as he held her in his arms, the little girl the two of you had created–he did. He trusted her to tell the truth you wouldn't, because you wouldn't lie and tell him you didn't love him either. “Guess I'll just have to take your word for it then, won't I?”
***~***~***~***~***~***~***~***
Jake Seresin had always been a good dad, you had never questioned him on his ability to go above and beyond for his children. That was something you never had to worry about. As you plated up dinner, the laughter of your three children coming from the living room made you smile to yourself. They were loved so fiercely.
“Alright, let's get ready for dinner, yeah? Mums been cooking up a storm in here.” Jake rounded the corner with Sam hand in hand. “Smells so damn good in here.” You again smiled to yourself as Jake can to stand beside you at the kitchen counter, watching as you scooped some pasta bake onto five plates.
“When's the last time you had a home cooked meal?” It was a simple question but Jake really had to think about it for a moment as he reached over to steal a cucumber slice from the chopped salad.
“Does food from the bar count?” He asked with a half cocked smile, knowing full well that Penny's burgers and fries wouldn’t be considered home cooked in your opinion.
“No–” You grinned as Jake leaned in from behind you, trapping you between him and the counter with both arms encompassing you. “No, when's the last time it was a home cooked meal?” Jake didn't reply right away, he simply inhaled your scent slowly from behind you and took in the comforting scent of elderberry and juniper. He missed that all encompassing feeling, that safe and warming feeling of your presence.
“Uh—probably the last time you cooked for me.” Jake noticed the moment you paused at his words, the revelation that you were having. “And it was probably pasta bake, with salad and pork chops, like what we’re having right now.”
“It’s always your favourite—“ It was clear from the very beginning that both you and Jake were getting caught in the moment. But as his hands slowly make their way from the counter top to hips, you know you were too far gone to press the pause button. “Jacob—“
“I'm a simple man.” Jake cooed as he brought one of his hands up to move your hair from one side of your neck. “Lucy tells me you love me.”
“She’s got a pretty wild imagination that daughter of ours.” You teased as Jake pressed his lips against your neck in a sweet gesture of gratitude for the woman who gave him three beautiful children. “You need to stop—“ You sighed into Jake's warm embrace as he pulled away and let his chin fall to your shoulder. “I don’t know where or what you've been in recently.”
“I think she said her name was Vanessa.” Jake taunted as he held you tightly from behind. He felt you tense in his embrace at the very idea he’d been with someone other than you. But you couldn’t hold it against him, not now, the pair of you were separated. You held no claim on the man you had left in favour of putting yourself first.
But that didn’t mean it still didn’t hurt.
“Vanessa a name I should remember?” You asked with a little attitude in your tone Jake caught immediately. He couldn’t help but to smirk at the idea you were a little jealous of his very infrequent conquests. He loved you to the end of the world but this was such a frustrating situation to be in. What was a guy supposed to do? Be celebate in hopes his wife came running back?
“Nope—“ Jake reassured you with another kiss to the neck. “I’m not ready to let you go, I thought maybe I could if I just leaned into the whole thing, whatever it is that we’re doing, but I’m just not ready to let you go.”
“Have you?” Jake had to clear his throat when he asked. “Been with anyone, that is?”
“Do you think between work, raising three kids with your DNA and missing you that I’d have time to get laid?” You knew what Jake would latch onto, the part where you said you missed him. You saw the light in his eye as you turned in his embrace to face him with a mischievous smile plastered across your face.
“You miss me?” Yes. Yes you did. With all your might you missed him everyday and every night. But it didn’t change what the two of you became.
“Don’t try your luck—“ You argued, shrugging Jake's query off like the answer was obvious. To him it was, you did miss him. Other sailors tend to recognise other sailors on the sea and Jake missed you tenfold.
“Oh I’m feeling like the luckiest guy in the whole world right now.” You could feel Jake pressing himself against you, silently but not so subtly telling you exactly what this whole encounter was doing to him.
“Really? Is that so?” You asked like you weren’t aware of the rock hard erection pressing against your pelvis. Jake just pressed his lips together in an attempt to hold off the crimson red from creeping up his neck and cheeks. But he wasn’t backing down from a challenge, especially when you were leaving all the right doors unlocked for him to walk right through.
“So lucky that I couldn’t help but to notice the spare bed hasn’t even been made up?”
“Oh so you assumed I’d be your personal chef and the maid tonight?” You countered as you looked around for your three small children, not wanting to expose them to such x-rated content before you slowly but surely sunk your hand into the sweatpants Jake had recently changed into. Damn those grey sweats and damn Jake for going commando. “You are perfectly capable of making your own bed.”
The way your palm wrapped around his length sent sparks through Jake's body like nothing he’d ever felt before. Your touch was so beautiful and elegant, like you knew exactly what he needed and where he wanted it.
“Or I could just sleep in yours, with you.” Jake nearly begged as your fist slid up and down his hardened length, feeling him twitch under your control. “Honey—“ He nearly moaned as he fell forward into you, letting his forehead rest against yours. “You’re killing me here.”
“What don’t you get about the fact we’re separated?” You asked almost teasingly like you weren’t pumping him slowly as dinner cooled on the counter behind you while your kids played in the living room.
“For as long as you have my last name, you’re my wife, end of story.” Butterflies, that’s how you’d describe the feeling inside you when Jake, your somewhat ex husband, told you you were still his. You never wanted to not be his, but you were sure that Vanessa maybe wondered if she’d ever be his too.
“Oh you are so full of yourself.” You slowly but surely pulled your hand out from Jake’s sweats and watched him nearly deflate at the loss of sensation, but he never missed a beat, Jake was quick like that, he always had been.
“You could be full of me too if you just let your guard down a little.”
“Jake!!” You slapped his chest firmly as your kids all rushed in at the smell of food.
“I’ll take my stuff upstairs shall I?” He grinned ear to ear, knowing by the way your jaw remained on the ground he had you hook, line and sinker.
“Yeah, you can, to the spare room you idiot.” You watched as Jake fixed himself up and headed in the direction of the stairs. You were still so in love with this man.
“Lenny! Where’s your mothers room?” Jake turned to your eldest son who always knew that the two of you were going to make it through whatever this rough patch was. He had friends who had divorced parents, and even at the young age of six, Lennox knew his parents didn’t hate each other.
“Upstairs to the left, it’s the messy one.” You gave your son the stink eye as he beamed up at you.
“Perfect.” Jake chuckled and sent you a wink. “I’ll be right back.” He was getting laid tonight and you both knew it.
“I’m—“ You hardly had the energy to keep your whole hard to get act up, so with a sigh, you let your guard down for the man who held your heart in the palm of his hands. “You’re unbelievably.”
“I’ve been told by the youth on base it’s called Rizz now.” Jake yelled back as he jogged up the wooden stairs, you could just barely hear him as his voice faded the higher he climbed. But nevertheless, you still heard him.
“Well I can’t wait to get both you and your ‘rizz’ out of my house!” You shouted back, Lenny just laughed as he watched his Dad pull a funny face at your words from the top of the stairs.
“You don’t mean that.” He smiled up at you. “You and dad love each other.” It made your heart skip a beat, but you had to remember that you were playing a dangerous game here. Letting Jake in now would only break his heart more. You had to do what was best for you, and that was to remain separate. At least while you were fighting for your life.
“Maybe, but he’s still a pain in my ass Lenny.”

Hello! I have a humble ask for you if you have a bit of time to indulge me. While I understand from your name that your interest is primarily in the late republic, I was wondering if you had any recommendations for me regarding a slightly later period:
I’ll be taking a class on the Roman Empire and its emperors (+Julius probably) next semester. I’ve got more of a background in Classical Greek history than Roman, so I’m a bit out of my depth. I did a brief survey of some of the early big names in high school (mostly I just remember J Seas, October August, Capri Pants Tibby, Little Booties, Neckbeard Zero, and Ostrich Boy, though I’m sure we covered others), but I was wondering if you had any recommendations for interesting figures in and around the imperial court at really any time during the centuries of Roman Empire to look out for and/or stan in the coming year. I tend to find that being able to latch on to interesting people with lots of personality or story about them makes it easier to study the surrounding events, so I’m hoping for some help from fellow tumblr nerds to get a head start on that. Thank you for reading (and perhaps replying)!
Welcome, dear reader! It sounds like you're in the market for a blorbo...or perhaps a punching bag!
You already know the Julio-Claudian Clusterfuck, so I'll skip them. (I recommend all of them though!) If you enjoyed their family drama, you'll find even more of it in the Severan dynasty. Starting with Rome's first African-born emperor, through his fratricidal sons, to Elagabalus - who might've been what we now call transgender, but it's hard to tell. These folks make the Julio-Claudians look stable.
Or maybe you'd prefer a more relatable guy like Marcus Aurelius. He's one of the few emperors whose inner personality we can really see, thanks to his diary surviving and getting renamed the Meditations. I think many people struggling with depression, anxiety or existential dread might find a lot in common with Marcus' writings. He was a good guy who tried his best, despite never wanting to be emperor and facing horrible luck. His predecessor Antoninus Pius was also a very cool dude, the kind who did good quietly and resolved issues with diplomacy instead of war. They're two of the few emperors I think were actually good people.
If military history's your thing, you can't go wrong with Trajan, Aurelian or Constantine. Trajan conquered Dacia and Mesopotamia, making the empire bigger than ever. Aurelian's superb leadership and character helped to end a 40-year civil war. People seem to either love Constantine or hate him. He was also the first Christian emperor, and played a huge role in shaping Christianity as an institution and orthodox set of beliefs. Whether that was good for Christianity is a question in itself...Constantine's family had tons of drama, too!
If you'd rather pray to Jupiter than Jesus, you'll probably like Julian, Rome's last pagan emperor and a Huge Fucking Nerd. He's a favorite of alternate history buffs for what paganism and Christianity might've turned into if he lived longer. Also, he wrote satirical fanfiction about other emperors for fun!
Vespasian, Titus and Hadrian are interesting if you're into Jewish history. Well, "interesting" in a bad way...You can blame the first two for the destruction of the Second Temple, and Hadrian for the atrocities of the Bar Kokhba revolt. I liked reading Flavius Josephus' account of the first Jewish revolt, which characterizes Vespasian, Titus and Herod (that Herod) quite vividly. It's a very bloody tragedy, and all the trigger warnings apply, but it really brings this time period to life. (Get an edition with a Jewish translator, if possible - older Christian-led translations tend to shove antisemitic junk in there.)
Titus was the emperor when Mt. Vesuvius erupted, so the ruins of Pompeii and Pliny the Elder's wacky Natural History date to Titus' time. Some people really connect with Hadrian's famous gay love affair with Antinous, and he was an incredibly well-traveled man who left monuments like Hadrian's Wall all over the empire...but his genocide in Judea overshadows everything else for me.
But hey, maybe you're fascinated by the awful ones. Or maybe you think some emperors have been misunderstood. There's been a lot of discussion in recent years over whether Tiberius, Nero, Domitian and Commodus were as bad as they're usually portrayed. I'm only really acquainted with Tiberius. In his case, I found not a monster, just a deeply troubled man who'd been put into the worst job possible against his will.
I don't know many imperial women, but I gotta give shout-outs to Livia, Julia the Elder, Agrippina the Elder and Younger, Empress Theodora (wife of Justinian), and Empress Irene (whom Charlemagne wanted to marry!).
Readers, feel free to chime in with your favorite emperors, empresses and court-adjacent Romans! The wilder the stories, the better!

🎮🩹🐈🍃🍝 for Jason and Ryan?
Thank you for this! As a refresher, Jason is an elementary school principal, and Ryan is an attorney. I’m also including Paul and Aiden like you suggested the other day. Paul is a writer who recently published his first novel and has had some short stories published in magazines. Aiden owns a christmas tree farm with his family (okay that’s kind of a random occupation, I know, but last year I decided I needed some OCs modeled after hallmark movie characters so here they are lmfao). Some slight TW for mentions of ab//use
🎮 What are three of your oc's favorite hobbies?
Jason: Pretty much all of his hobbies are outdoors or involve being active. He loves to hike. It helps him clear his mind and get his thoughts in order if his ADHD meds aren’t doing their job. He likes to go with Ryan, too. He’s into rock climbing as well. He never does it outside, but he’ll go to the gym that has a really nice rock climbing wall and can spend hours there. He also plays soccer in a rec league. He played soccer for years, all through high school and in college, and now he has the rec league to get his soccer fix.
Ryan: Ryan loves to read, and his favorite genre is high fantasy. He has a few authors whose work he loves to relax to, and he will frequently re-read books. If he’s had a really long and stressful day, he’ll come home and pick up his VERY well loved copy of LOTR and will read that for a bit to decompress. He loves to hike, too. It’s something he and Jason like to do together. Sometimes they bring their kids on kid-friendly ones, other times they find someone to watch them so they can do more strenuous ones. He loves to play the piano, too. He’s been playing off and on for a number of years, and really enjoys finding his favorite movie scores and trying to teach them to himself.
Paul: Paul is a big art history buff. He loves going on museum dates with Aiden (they’re his FAVORITE dates), and going to the museum when there are new exhibits. He also has a few pieces from his favorite artists hanging up in his office and their house. He’s a big reader, too. Kind of cliche for a writer, but he truly believes that the best way to write well is to consume as much literature as possible, so he does. When he was married to his ex, he loved reading because it was an escape from his really toxic relationship and something he could dissociate with. Now, though, he reads more for enjoyment and relaxation. He’s really into film as well. He has favorites from all decades and will spend hours listening to podcasts on his favorite ones and consuming as much media about them as possible.
Aiden: Aiden is clinically insa-I mean loves to run! He was on the cross-country team all throughout middle and high school, and kept it up after. It’s something that’s really grounding and soothing for him, and he’ll often go on a second run if he’s feeling extra stressed for whatever reason that day. He likes pottery, too, and will often go to the local pottery shop where he can take classes. One day he’d like to have a studio setup in their house, but until then he just goes to the shop. He’s a really great cook, too and loves it a lot. He loves challenging himself to make really complicated recipes and can usually pull them off beautifully. Paul also enjoys this hobby of his because he always benefits from it lmao.
🩹 Does your oc have any physical and/or mental disabilities?
Jason: Jason has no physical disabilities, but he is neurodivergent. He has ADHD and is medicated for it. He takes meds everyday which usually help beautifully - it quiets his brain and allows him to be much more organized in his day to day life. He’s an elementary school principal and he NEEDS to be able to be quick and with it enough when managing his employees, the kids, and their parents. It’s a lot and he would feel incapable of doing it well if he weren’t medicated. On days where his normal dose doesn’t work for whatever reason, he’s been prescribed another low dose, quick release med he can take to give him the boost he needs. He’s also dyslexic. He had the loveliest tutor when he was in school who had a lot of experience working with students who have learning disabilities and it helped him make it through. As an adult, he still won’t read for fun because he finds it stressful. It’s difficult to keep his place, and the words get all jumbled up and he gets really frustrated. He can do it for work when he has to but he has to really slow down and take his time. One of his office managers, Alaina, will often read whatever it is to him and help him transcribe emails as long as it’s not any sensitive student information he has to read. She’s pretty much family at this point (he was her student in his first year of teaching, so he’s known her for a lot of her life) and she never makes him feel judged or embarrassed by needing help.
Ryan: Ryan doesn’t have any physical or mental disabilities.
Paul: Paul has no physical disabilities, but he has anxiety and depression and is medicated for both. The antidepressants are an everyday, he MUST take them, kind of thing, but the anxiety meds are more for if all of his coping mechanisms aren’t working and he needs them on a rescue-basis.
Aiden: Aiden has no physical or mental disabilities.
🐈 Does your oc prefer a wide circle of friends or a few close friends?
Jason: Jason has a wide circle of friends that he likes to hang out with sometimes. They’ll all go out to the movies, or for dinner and drinks, stuff like that. Most of them also have kids, so they’ll often have gatherings where the kids can go hang out while the adults do as well. Even though he loves that bigger group of friends, he has a pretty small circle of a handful of friends he’d consider his best friends.
Ryan: Ryan prefers a smaller circle of friends. He’s not a huge fan of large social gatherings, though he’ll sometimes come to dinner and drinks with Jason’s larger group of friends. Sometimes he’ll go out for happy hour with his coworkers at his firm, too, but overall he definitely prefers to keep a really small close group of friends.
Paul: Paul is really introverted. It takes a while for him to trust people enough to let them in because he just doesn’t trust people easily. His ex-husband was abusive and really isolated him, so he lost a lot of friends during that relationship. He’s slowly building his social circle back, but it’s just going to take awhile.
Aiden: Aiden has a larger social circle than Paul, but he’s not looking to expand it, really. He still doesn’t have a ton of friends in his social circle, as he really prefers quality over quantity.
🍃 What is/was your oc's favorite subject in school?
Jason: Jason was a big fan of hands-on subjects.  His favorite academic subject was any science class he took that had a heavy hands-on component, and his favorite non-academic subjects were ceramics and woodshop. He’s really good at working with his hands and I think if he hadn’t gone into teaching, he’d have skipped college and gone to some sort of trade school.
Ryan: Ryan’s favorite subjects in school were pretty much any history class, and his speech and debate classes. That may be kind of cliche bc lawyer, but he really thrived in those classes.
Paul: His favorite classes were always his English classes. He’s always loved all sorts of literature and writing, and had always had his teachers tell him he should seriously consider becoming a writer. He also loved history, specifically the art history courses he took in college. He would frequently take those as his elective even if they weren’t technically considered electives.
Aiden: Aiden was NOT an academic person. He didn’t like school, and there were no subjects he was passionate about. He hated being stuck inside, he hated the fluorescent lights, and he hated having to sit for long stretches of time. He’s smart and did well by just skating by but he resented having to sit and learn everything lmao. He did really like gym class and ended up being in cross country in middle and high school. He just has a lot of energy and it wasn’t conducive to having to sit for long periods of time.
🍝 What is/are your oc's favorite food(s)?
Jason: Jason is your classic ADHD “hyperfixation meal” kinda guy. He’ll only want to eat something for weeks and then all of a sudden is so tired of it and doesn’t want it anymore, and then he’ll move onto the next thing. He’s not really a fan of complicated, fancy food. He’d much rather have pizza and wings, or mac n cheese, or a burger than going to grab sushi.
Ryan: Ryan, in contrast to his husband, is a big fan of really interesting food, complex food. He really likes any kind of Asian food, especially sushi and will frequently go get it with the other partners and attorneys at his firm.
Paul: Paul really loves diner food. Grilled cheese, mac n cheese, burgers, that kind of thing. He also likes steak, which is good because Aiden loves that. He’s pretty picky and likes what he likes. His ex always made him feel guilty for his food preferences and would often make comments about how he can’t have what he likes because Paul is soooooo picky and it would make him feel bad. Aiden will tell him not to feel bad about what he wants to eat and he’s happy to go wherever Paul wants to go.
Aiden: Aiden is a big steak and potatoes person. He loves loaded baked potatoes and loaded baked potato soup, and if he could subsist solely on steak and potatoes, he WOULD. He and Paul will frequently go out on dates to the museum and then finish the night off with a fancy steakhouse.

“Yes, Joan?” Sam Wilson asked one of the vets at his VA. The others all turned their faces to her.
“Um, I know this girl. She’s not a veteran but she comes from a military family. Really invested in telling our story and making sure people understand the truth about war. Wicked smart too, I think she’s getting a journalism degree or already has it… can’t remember if she graduated already or not but I was wondering if I could invite her? Only if you guys are okay with it, she already has a couple books out that she did with her grandfather before he passed. It wouldn’t be invasive, she’s cool.”
The other veterans looked around the circle at each other. Joan was one of the first to start showing up to Sam’s particular VA group. If she trusted this girl, maybe they could too. Everyone agreed with a promise from Joan that if it was too much or the girl made them uncomfortable Joan would ask her to leave.
Joan laughed as you smoothed out your skirt. You were sitting in the car with her since she offered to drive you to the VA meeting. Joan served with your older sister and cousin. She had also worked with your older brother a few times. Joan was more family than just your siblings’ friend.
“You didn’t have to get dressed up you know. We’re a bunch of vets just trying to forget our problems and play some chess.”
“First impressions, Joan. I just want to make a good impression on everyone.”
“Well, they’re all waiting and ready for you, Caliber.”
You snorted at the nickname your family had given you when you were maybe ten, twelve. It never went away even after meeting Joan. You grabbed your tote bag and followed Joan into the building. The group was already sitting in their circle when you and Joan walked in— it was mindless talking, you weren’t late. You sat next to Joan, wringing your hands from nervousness.
“Our newest member!” Sam greeted jovially, trying to ease your nerves. “Your name?”
“Um, hi, I’m (Y/N) (L/N).”
The other veterans smiled, everyone could see you weren’t a very extroverted person. At least not in big groups, not right away.
“Joan says you write our stories?”
You fished in your tote bag for the books and handed them to Joan who started to pass them around. You took out the dog tags of various family members from under your shirt— your sister always thought it was cute how whenever you were around other military, you tended to tuck the tags in like they did. You also pulled out a small strip of leather from your bag.
“My great great great great grandfather fought in the Civil War.” You held up the leather strip, a makeshift dog tag.
“That’s a lot of great,” one of the veterans joked, causing everyone to chuckle.
“Yeah. At least one person every generation has been in the military since then. It started when they couldn’t tell us anything about the freedmen and slaves who fought, the books, I mean. So my grandpa and I started digging.”
“You were seven when this came out?” A guy held up the first book.
“Told you she was wicked smart.” Joan smirked.
“Well, Papa did most of the work for a long time. I just helped sweet talk the vets, no one can resist answering questions when a baby’s asking them.”
And that’s how it started. The vets liked you. They liked that you were there to record their stories and not just the horror but the funny bits, the mundane bits. And that you didn’t just interview them and their lives but also shared your life with them. You started coming in early to help Sam set up and leaving later to help him clean. Sam liked having your company, you reminded him so much of his nieces and nephews. He wouldn’t admit it but Sam basically adopted you.
“You know I met Captain America last weekend.”
You stopped putting up the chairs to look at him. “No way, really?! Wow, wish I was there.”
“If you had gone on a run with me.”
“Sam, if I go on runs with you I would never get my work done.”
“You never get your work done or never make it past the first mile.”
“Both.”
“You’re always working.”
“I have to for rent, freelancing isn’t the easiest sometimes and DC ain’t exactly cheap.”
“Ain’t that what your books are for.”
“I don’t want to touch that money, that’s for real emergencies.”
“Well, I worry about you sometimes. Don’t see you with anyone but the vets.”
“Friends aren’t the easiest to make Sam.”
“You don’t—”
“Those tags aren’t just from my family.”
The rest went unspoken as Sam nodded. You grew up on a military base, you’ve spent your whole life around the military. Friends were either gone before you could get close, their family leaving to a different base, or as you got older they were gone before a tour could finish.  You only got close to a few once they were out, like Joan.
You weren’t sure if that was why you continued to write the books even after your grandfather passed. To keep your friends’ stories alive. Not all books were on American soldiers, that was part of the reason you freelanced. You traveled and told everyone’s story you could find. And as long as the military existed, stories would exist and you would be there to write down every single one.
“Well, how about you start working remotely. I’ve been told I’m a great chef. I make a mean stack of pancakes.”
You nodded, thanking Sam for the offer. He was right. Even if you weren’t actively making friends, you shouldn’t keep to yourself in your house. You agreed to come over for meals with Sam— he failed to convince you to go on runs with him.
Sam came back from his run while you were on his couch sorting through papers. Books with firsthand interviews were easy to write. But the current one that you had set up was a look back into history. And you had lots of files and books sent to you as well as recovered journals from family members of soldiers. A few weren’t in English and you were currently sorting through the translations your trusty interpreter had given you.
These look backs were always some of your favorites— you were a history buff as well. This would probably be your last historical book for a while when it came to the military but you were definitely going to look into something else. Maybe writing easy to digest history for children, you had always loved mythology as a child.
Sam passed by giving you a wave instead of saying hi, you had headphones on. He was going to take a shower and then make the two of you breakfast. You lifted your head from transcribing a soldier’s journal at the soft pounding. Sam was still in the shower. You took your headphones off to find the pounding wasn’t soft at all, but very frantic actually. Your face was almost bashed in as you narrowly missed the fist coming at it when you abruptly opened the door.
“Sorry, I’m Steve Rogers, Miss.”
“Steve, should you really just say—”
“She’s in his house. If Sam trusts her, we’ve got to as well. We have no choice, Nat,” Steve said to the redhead.
She turned to you. “Everyone we know is trying to kill us.”
You looked back into the house, hearing the running water finally stop.
“Sam! You’ve got very important company!”
Steve and Nat looked stunned as the door slammed in their face before you opened it up again, looking sheepish.
“I didn’t mean to do that, come in, please.”
Steve and Nat looked around amused as you apologized and scrambled to put your papers up so they could sit on the couch. You looked at their faces and jumped up to get towels, they were dirty and probably bleeding somewhere you couldn’t see. You had moved to the dining room table in the kitchen, to give them room. Sam came in a few minutes later followed by Steve and Nat. They sat down at the table while Sam started cracking eggs for omelettes.
“So the question is, who at S.H.I.E.L.D. could launch a domestic missile attack?” Nat asked.
You were starting to think that maybe you should leave but you were really looking forward to Sam’s breakfast. So you just kept your head down and continued to transcribe the translations onto your laptop.
“Pierce,” Steve answered.
“Who happens to be sitting on top of the most secure building in the world,” Nat retorted.
“But he’s not working alone.”
Nat looked over at your papers to see what you were doing. Without really asking permission she picked up a piece of paper and slid it over to Steve.
“S.H.I.E.L.D.?”
“It’s for my latest book. I wanted to start doing the history of government agencies after finding a few soldiers that moved on to S.H.I.E.L.D. It’s fascinating really, except for this discrepancy. Well, not just this one but a few discrepancies actually. This soldier is S.H.I.E.L.D.”
You held up the notebook and its translations. “But a lot of this is HYDRA. And it’s not the only one, I think HYDRA’s trying to infiltrate… those are the guys trying to kill you, aren’t they?”
“Pretty much.” Steve sat back in his chair. He looked at Nat, them exchanging looks.
“I know. They’ve probably already got a hit on her now.”
“A hit? I’m sorry who?”
“You get any of this stuff under the table? Back alley dealings?” Nat asked you.
“No. Why would I?”
“Right, you’re an innocent civilian.” Nat eyed you up and down. “Even easier to make disappear.”
“Disappear?” You turned to Sam who was on defense now but also had no clue what was going on.
“You’ve unknowingly put a target on your back. HYDRA isn’t just going to let information of their infiltrating get out to the general public.”
You sank down into your seat. Writing history books, publishing biographies. Life was supposed to be easy or at least simple. Now you potentially had a very dangerous spy organization breathing down your back and looking to murder you. Worst part, you had no friends and little family. It wouldn’t be too hard to make you disappear.
“Zola’s algorithm was on the Lemurian Star so was Jasper Sitwell,” Nat commented to Steve.
“Zola? I think that’s somewhere in here… this guy, end of World War 2. Met Zola a little bit before S.H.I.E.L.D. or whatever the early days of S.H.I.E.L.D was.”
You pointed to some scribbles in Russian that Nat looked at, not even needing your translation sheet.
“She’s right. This guy knew Zola. Okay, Miss…”
“(Y/N).”
“(Y/N). You need to watch yourself and uh, maybe find a different topic for your little history lesson.”
Steve finished off his breakfast. “So how do the two most wanted people in Washington kidnap a S.H.I.E.L.D. officer in broad daylight?”
“The answer is, you don’t.” Sam plopped down his old file in front of them. “Consider this a resume.”
“The Khalid Khandil mission,” Nat said, looking the file over. “That was you?”
“You didn’t say he was a Pararescue. Is this Riley?” Steve asked.
You had heard lots about his wingman Riley. From the stories, he was a good man. Sam handed them a second part of the file. Steve opened it, looking at the pictures inside.
“I thought you were a pilot.”
“I never said pilot.”
“I can’t ask you to do this, Sam. You got out for a good reason.”
“Dude, Captain America needs my help.”
You snickered and the three suddenly remembered you were there. You smiled softly at Sam and gave him a pat on the arm.
“Last one of those is in Fort Meade. Guarded heavily.”
“Shouldn’t be a problem,” Steve said as he dropped the file reading EXO-7 Falcon on the table. “(Y/N), we’re gonna have to borrow Sam for a minute. Try to lay low and stay safe.”
“Understood.”
You scooped up all your papers and notebooks and left Sam’s house. After the talk with Steve and Nat, you became paranoid. It would’ve been much cooler to meet them under not so scary circumstances. Now, every car that passed you and every pedestrian whose stare lingered a moment too long made you nervous. You only breathed out a sigh of relief once you entered your apartment, dropping the keys on the counter and flopping onto the couch.

My current feeling on the Dracthyr... So i’m going to write out how I currently feel about the Dracthyr, before I make one, do the intro story line (not the prepatch stuff I did that so far) and before I watch their cinematic lore videos.
I want to do this because I will update on how I feel after the fact of getting to know them more. Because this entire time, there is something I really can’t seem to get with. This feeling was almost there with the vulpera, but the vulpera I can really sell and advocate for.
Once again, I’m writing a lot but...what is a blog for if not to write my thoughts down. If you happen to be curious ...
I’m going to just try and give my starting feelings down here:
To start off with, I want to talk about their appearance/what they are.
What I really do like about their appearance is that they capture expression on a kind of animal type that seems pretty neutral. They look curious and agile as if they were made to learn and do it fast. The different choices I’ve seen so far create very interesting silhouettes. They also have a very big cute factor which makes it or breaks it for a lot of people.
I’ll defend the dracthyr to the point that I don’t really see them as a ‘furry bait’ edition. Considering that a lot of the popular fantasy games we do have include a sort of lizard or dragon-folk type race that people can play as or interact with. To me, this actually just feels like the Warcraft version of giving people their lizard/dragon-folk. Only, it seems jarring for us because where Elder Scrolls had it from the start, we’re just now getting it and getting a playable dragon means something different in the context of this game.
What is good about it is that they stay true to the dragons we are familiar with when it comes to colors and their abilities. They are intelligent and capable of speech. And they appear to be powerful, but also off putting to society. I will give them the props that it clearly shows that people are not use to dragons or always *comfortable* around dragons since being in your guise puts other people at ease. The fact that they are weird to look makes a bit of sense.
But then...I really do look at them. And they are weird to look at. There is a strange NPC-like quality to them that almost feels too grand of an inclusion on the Horde and Alliance. They remind me a lot of the issue people had with the Nightborne. Everyone loved the Nightborne’s look. They had a much different face. Then we get playable nightborne and their eyes are wide with horror and look GREATLY different than what people have wanted.
Throughout Warcraft history, we’ve seen endless models of dragon-humanoids that are either extremely skinny and look like a talking Dilophosaurus to the very buff and intimidating hulk dragonkin we often see running at us twirling their staff, ready to chop our head off.
There are also very early concepts that they did want a dragon race from the very beginning (much like playable demons , but I feel like that niche was filled with demon hunter).
So we have all of these very intimidating or fantasy dragon people with very interesting outlines and designs that we  have known about already over a long time. And then....here is a secret race you have no connection with, the dracthyr.
Now I will of course say yes... you could feel at ease with this by saying the remnants have always been there with the dragonkin that we do know and the failed dragonmen experiments who were suppose to be similar. Now, here is the REAL dragon people , and you all get to play them.
From this standpoint, I can completely get it. There is an allure to having something with no background weight or it be a faction that has to pick a side. It is a clean slate of an intelligent race who get to make the choice themselves.
But there is still just...
Something missing for me. No matter how much I justify, something is not falling into place for me.
In a way , it’s how I feel about the void elves. The void elves felt very tossed onto the table by Alleria. They just come out of no where, even with the build up of Alleria’s interest in the void and her being a connection to like minds. There is no history for me to feel fond of. No characters for me to think back on and be happy that it’s there. There is, of course, the interest that the void was embraced as an entire character aesthetic to contrast the Lightforge, which that had a very cool and symbolic mixture that can create some cool later story telling beats that may even turn into creating a “Who’s side are you on.”
The dracthyr are as good as a compromise as one can get with a dragon race that fits in this universe and was added later on. The only way for there to have been a hidden race of dragons this whole time, and them not get involved at all without being ridiculed for it, WOULD for them to be in stasis for as long as they were.
Because the other option would be a collection of the current knowing kinds of dragon people and in this case it would be very much about who’s side they would be on. We would unfortunately either have dragons pick only one side or have to deal with a narrative of... here is a dragon type for the Horde, and here is the lithe pretty type of dragon for the Alliance. (It makes me wonder, had they known about the Sundering, and only knew of the High Elves involvement in that, who’s side they would have chosen...could go either way depending on how its sold to them.)
So in a way, I guess I can at least say...they are as good as a situation as they can be for the factions to have a playable dragon-like race. One that lets players ,and RPers, have a humanoid guise, an in-between guise. Then after that what ever your dragon flying mount is if you’re RPing a full dragon.
But still. It doesn’t stop them from them feeling disjointed to me. I don’t feel a sense of connection to them. In all actuality, what made me feel the most excited was seeing people run around with updated gnoll models on the Horde and seeing just how natural they looked. From there I went on and thought of how that could have been a reality. The gnoll have been the enemy , beaten down repeatedly and are among some of the most iconic warcraft races that we know and have grown up with. We also have quite a few accounts of them having a culture and trading and helping out occasionally.
I just don’t feel very connected , though. More and more, the races we are getting are ones without much feel good backstory built up over the years that make me feel excited to see finally getting their time to really be fleshed out.
And...to be completely honest, while I know that both factions will need to have one to balance it out, literally none of the remaining races make sense for me to see to go on the Alliance (excluding the obvious balance of Jinyu and Hozen and Pearlfin and Gilgoblin...but I still do not feel very hip on playable Hozen. But that is me.)
But with Arrakoa, Tuskarr, Taunka, Yaungol, Ogre, Vrykul, Gnolls, Murloc (🙄), Centaur, Quillboar...  all of these are highly shamanic, traditional races two of which have their native home on Draenor. Not even the vrykul, in my opinion, would enjoy the company of rigid humans I feel. Then you have the harpy, who probably should not be on either.
So when all you have are races left, where it’s hard to justify letting them go to the Alliance without making up a story where the Horde can’t find any common ground at all... Things like Lightforged Draenei, Void elves, Alternate Universe Mag’har (when Garadar is right there), Vulpera and Dracthyr fill the need of something new without disappointing people that the Alliance got gnolls or for some weird reason, the Tuskarr join the Alliance when they should be with the tauren. (I do not want Tuskarr.)
So.... I’ll end it with this. There is nothing wrong with loving the dracthyr and their ability to capture the flamboyance of high fantasy and wild colors. They are very in depth in design and I think they introduced a great show of how the customization can expand and how we can start toning down the wild body sex dimorphism wow has been mocked for. There is a lot of justification you can make for them making sense and how some of this is the only way it can make sense to give people playable dragons and to fill in the niche that was a concept long ago.
But I’ll always see them as hard to connect with for me. New things are good, but it’s hard when I see so many current things continue to not get their time to expand and left to gather dust when the world could be expanded on, rather than add more to it where it becomes harder to give the other things the attention they deserve. They just feel too odd, too out of place and I feel should not even be on either faction at all. They have a lot of great things going on...but that is what they have. A lot going on.
My idea would have been to not have dracthyr at all, and instead, introduce the hero class of the Dragonsworn to bring back old lore that people have always found interesting and to bring interest in things of the past and connect them to old and new characters. To create that sense of call-to -action among Azerothians of all kinds to come forth to the Dragons who protect the world. To truly try and fight for the planet with the ones who have been there to be blessed by a higher power. It would have been the bridge between faction, person and player to the world that awaits by gaining a mystical call to learn the ways of the healing flame, the magical ice, the shifting sands of time or the molten sturdiness of the earths. The shaman who heighten their senses, or the villager who exceeds all expectations. To truly feel the awe and grandness of what it means to see dragons, to work with dragons and to gain insight into protecting all that is around them. They can be a part of something both great, but humbling on a down to earth level that still lets you be with those you love without everyone needing to look human-elves.
So..that is a lot of my thoughts for now. I want to like them, but I will have to see them more in action. I understand that there is a place for things strange and new.
For now, I’ll continue to fantasize about my middle school wish of wanting a Devilsaur mount, playable Broken Draenei and better orc customization.
If you read this far, I appreciate you  and hope you get a raise, pass your exam or find exactly 30 dollars on the ground and then free internet for some reason.

“Hello, doll face,” Silas greeted behind you.
You jumped at his voice, but quickly settled down. “Hey, Silas,” you said dully.
“Why the long face, princess?” Silas asked.
“Because you’re here,” you said. “Oh, that’s so mean. You’ve hurt my feelings,” Silas pouted.
“Well, I’m not supposed to be talking to you anyways,” you stated matter-of-factly.
“Ugh, you are such a goody two shoes. It’s cute, but annoying. Why not break the rules? I know you want to,” Silas said, leaning over the top of the couch, his face going right next to your’s.
You inhaled deeply, your heart pounding against your chest. You were attracted to him, no doubt about that, but if you even considered shaking his hand, Caroline and Damon would kill you. And you definitely didn’t want that.
“I can read your mind, Y/n. I know you want to kiss me, so go ahead,” he whispered.
You didn’t turn your head, but your eyes wandered to the left. You got a good view of his lips, which made butterflies flutter in your stomach. It was so tempting to close the gap between you two, but you knew better than that. You turned your head the other way, standing up from the couch. You packed up your school work, deciding to leave the Salvatore house and go to your own.
You were at the Salvatore house because Damon had offered to help you with your history homework. You took the offer and you two had been studying for a few hours. He had left you for 30 minutes to go and get you two lunch. In those 30 minutes, Silas had wandered into the house, looking for you.
You pulled out your phone, texting Damon to go to your house instead of back to his.
“Where are ya going?” Silas asked.
“Home,” you mumbled, keeping your head down and walking to the front door.
Silas stood in front of the door, making you look up at him with an annoyed frown.
“Please let me go,” you said.
“No, I’d rather see you beg,” Silas smirked. You rolled your eyes. “Please. Damon is waiting for me at my house with food.”
“Oh! Well, why don’t I just go with you, then? I’d love to see Damon.”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” you chuckled. “Why not? I can just pretend to be his brother! I’ve fooled lots of people already,” Silas smiled.
“I think Damon will notice. Especially if I’m there,” you said.  “I’ll just sneak in then,” Silas suggested.
“No, Silas! I just want to go home alone. Leave me alone,” you said sternly, looking him straight in the eyes. You went to push him out of the way, but his hands grabbed ahold of your wrists. His strong grip made goosebumps rush up your forearms.
Silas couldn’t help but smirk. You rarely ever had outbursts. He thought it was incredibly sexy and cute when you put your foot down. Especially when it pertained to him.
“You are so adorable when you’re mad. You're so small, too. I can’t help but not take you seriously,” Silas chuckled.
Your eyes went wide and you opened your mouth to say something, but nothing came out. You masked your embarrassment by groaning and running your fingers through your hair in frustration. “Just let me go! Please. I’m hungry and tired and really need to study for my test.”
“What is your test over, anyways? History? Cause if so, I could help you out. I bet I know more than Damon,” Silas said.
“No thanks, bro, she’s all taken care of,” Damon said from behind Silas.
“You tattled that I was here! So naughty of you,” Silas glared at you playfully.
“Step out of the way, Silas. Otherwise I will snap your neck,” Damon sneered.
Silas sighed. “Fine! I’m only obeying because I want to kiss you before I die.”
“Fat chance of that. C’mon, Y/n. I got you a burger and those onion rings you like,” Damon said.
“Thanks, Damon,” you smiled gratefully at him.
“See you later, doll face!” Silas called out as you walked to your car.
“I’m sorry about him. I should make you the owner of the house,” Damon said.
You shrugged, “It’s alright. He would never actually hurt me.”
“Well, we don’t know that,” Damon said.
“Yes, we do. Sure, he might threaten to kill me sometimes, but his liking for me trumps any chance of him killing me. I don’t fear him, he’s just extremely annoying,” you said, getting in your car.
“Agreed,” Damon said.
You two drove to your house, eating lunch and studying for a few more hours. Caroline and Elena then came home, talking to you and Damon about a party at the Grill.
“Can I come?” You asked.
“Um, yeah, sure,” Caroline nodded.
You smiled excitedly. You barley went to any of these parties. You usually were at home studying or hiding away in your house because Caroline and Damon were always worried for you, but Caroline figured that since she and Damon and everyone else would be there, they would be able to protect you.
So you took a quick shower and got ready for the night. You put on ripped jeans and a black, spaghetti-strapped top with a jean jacket. You put on heeled boots and put on some silver jewellery, as well as lined your eyes with eyeliner and painted your lips red with lipstick.
“Oh, you look so cute!” Elena exclaimed as you walked out of your room.
“Thanks, Elena,” you smiled at her.
“No, go change,” Caroline said. “Why?” You frowned.
“Because Silas could be there and that outfit would tempt him even more,” Damon explained.
You rolled your eyes. “So when Klaus was here, Caroline could wear anything, but I guess since I’m younger and a human, I can’t? That’s so unfair.”
“She’s right, guys. I hate Silas as much as you two, but let her dress how she wants. We’ll be there to protect her. Plus, if Silas thinks she’s hot, then good for her. She is,” Elena agreed with you.
You smiled at her. “Thank you.”
“Of course,” she smiled.
“Ugh, fine! But no drinking, okay?” Caroline said.
“Ay, ay captain,” you said. You four went out to Elena’s SUV, driving to the Grill.
Loud music blasted into your ears as soon as you stepped inside. You smiled as you saw everything dancing and having the time of their life.
“Shots?” Caroline suggested.
“Hell yeah!” Elena squealed.
“Iced tea for you, Y/n?” Caroline asked. “Yes, please,” you nodded.
“Alright, you guys go to the pool table. I’ll be back,” Caroline said.
“Where is Stefan?” You asked, looking around the bar and walking to the pool table that was conveniently empty.
“Right here!”
You turned around, smiling once you saw Stefan in a grey shirt, jeans, and his leather jacket. You went to hug him, but Damon stopped you.
“Ah, ah, ah. How do we know it isn’t Silas?” Damon asked.
Stefan rolled his eyes. He pulled out a blood bag from his pocket, taking it and drinking it quickly.
“Alright, alright, we know it’s you. Cool it on the blood, brother. Don’t want to go into a bloodlust,” Damon said, taking the empty bag and throwing it in the trash.
“Well, I don’t really know how else to prove I’m not Silas,” Stefan sighed. “Can I get that hug now?”
You smiled and nodded, wrapping your arms around him.
Between everyone else, Damon and Stefan were your best friends. They were like the brothers you’ve never had, protecting you and teasing you whenever they felt like it was necessary. You hadn’t seen Stefan in a while since he was found in the safe, but you were glad to see he was okay.
“Glad to see you’re okay, Stef,” you said, pulling back.
“And I’m glad to see you haven’t fallen victim to my doppelgänger,” Stefan smiled.
Caroline came back with shots, pleasantly surprised to see Stefan.
“Stefan! You’re here! Oh, my God the whole gang is here!” She squealed, putting down the shots and engulfing Stefan is a big hug.
“I’m excited to be here, too. This is the first time I’ve really gone out for fun. I hope nothing goes wrong,” Stefan joked.
“Well, if any of you spot Silas, make sure to not let him get close to Y/n. We don’t know what he could do to her,” Caroline said.
You rolled your eyes at her concern, but didn’t say anything. You knew it would end up with you two arguing and that was the last thing anything wanted. Forbes were very controlling and heated when they got angry.
You took your tea and sipped on it as Damon downed the first shot.
“Wait, are we playing in teams?” You asked.
“Yeah, which one do you wanna be one? Damon and I’s?” Stefan asked.
“Definitely yours,” you said. “Oh, what! You know I win all the time,” Damon said.
“Yeah, but when you lose you get so mad. It’s hilarious,” you giggled.
“True, it is cute,” Elena smirked.
Damon rolled his eyes. “Whatever. You two are so annoying.”
You smiled and played with your friends for a little while. It came to a time where everyone was too tipsy to where they could barely walk, so you were in charge of getting the drinks. Damon and Caroline, despite being pretty much drunk, stayed close behind you.
“Hey, Matt,” you smiled at the boy working behind the bar. “Hey, Y/n! Let me guess, more shots and another iced tea?” He asked.
“You guessed right,” you chuckled.
“So, how is school?” He asked.
“Pretty good. History is kicking my ass, per usual. It’s weird because I’m surrounded by history buffs,” you said.
“Well, I know you have Damon helping you, but Stefan is a lot better at tutoring, in my opinion. I know he’s been having a rough time, though,” Matt said.
“He has, which is why I should be your tutor,” Silas smirked next to you.
You jumped slightly, surprised to see him there. You looked at him, seeing him wearing a dark navy shirt and jeans. Your eyes stared at his biceps and his strong, broad shoulders. Once you noticed him smirking at you, you looked back to the drinks Matt was filling.
“Now I get the silent treatment? C’mon, not fair,” Silas whined.
“You shouldn’t be here, man,” Matt said.
“Yeah, and what are you gonna do about, it huh?” Silas taunted, looking at Matt with narrow, menacing eyes.
Matt rolled his eyes, putting the tequila shots and your drink on a tray and handing them to you.
“Thanks, Matt,” you smiled.
You took the tray, ready to turn around and walk away from Silas. He put his arm up, planning to grab your arm to stop you, but Caroline and Damon used their vamp speed to push him back.
“Don’t you dare touch her,” Caroline sneered. Veins were circulating under her eyes and she bared her fangs.
Silas smirked, not at all fazed. “Oh, please, I could kill both of you so fast, you couldn’t have chance to say bye to Y/n. Now, let me go, Damon.”
Damon’s grip on Silas’s arms tightened. “Not a chance. We’re going outside and I’m gonna make sure you are far away from here.”
Damon then took Silas to the exit, Silas looking back at you and giving you a wink. Caroline groaned in disgust and took the tray away from you.
“You okay?” She asked.
“I’m fine, Care! He wasn’t going to hurt me,” you glared at her.
“You don’t know that! Why are you defending him? Doesn't he annoy you?” Caroline asked.
“Yeah, he does,” you said, your voice trailing off at the end, alluding to something else.
Caroline stared at you intensely, gasping once she put the pieces together. “You… You like him? Ugh, why! He’s a monster.”
“I don’t like him! God, why is that always your first assumption?” You asked.
“Because you obviously are having physical reactions to him. We all see the way you look down in shyness when he flirts with you, and we can hear your heart racing. We just hoped you wouldn’t give in,” Caroline sighed.
“I’m not! I don’t like him in any way, okay? Just because I defend someone doesn’t mean I automatically like them!”
“That’s what you always say! You need to get rid of those feelings, Y/n. He’s not a good person.”
You closed your eyes in frustration, sighing roughly. “I’m going to the bathroom to cool down. When I come out, you better not say anything else about me liking Silas.”
You spun on your heels, storming off to the bathroom. You washed your hands, putting them to your forehead to cool yourself down.
“Feelings for Silas, please,” you scoffed to yourself.
“She’s right. I know it, you know it. Everyone does.”
You looked in the mirror, jumping once you saw Silas behind you. You turned around quickly.
“H-How did you get in here?” You asked.
“I knocked Damon out,” he shrugged.
“What?! Is he okay?” You asked. “Yes, he’s fine. I know that you would hate me if I killed one of your friends,” he said.
You sighed, “I have to go. They’re waiting for me.” You went to the door, but Silas once again blocked the entrance.
“You gotta be quicker, Y/n. Someday you might find yourself in real trouble,” Silas smiled down at you.
“You are real trouble,” you retorted.
“Oh, we both know that’s not true. If I was then you’d be screaming for your life. But you’re just standing there, looking so incredibly kissable,” Silas said, shamelessly looking at your lips.
Your cheeks felt like they were on fire, and you looked down to hide your face. “No, I just don’t want to make a scene,” you mumbled.
Silas put his hand on your chin, making your eyes meet his. “While that is true, you also having feelings for me.”
You stepped away from him, his hand falling to his side. “I don’t. You’re evil and cheated on your girlfriend. No girl wants to be with a guy like that.”
“Elena practically cheated on Stefan emotionally, you’re still friends with her,” Silas stated.
You furrowed your brows, not sure what to say back. He was correct, but you knew that wasn’t the point. You needed to get out of there otherwise Caroline and Damon would freak out.
Silas walked towards you slowly, like you were his prey that he was stalking. You turned around, not wanting to look at him. Silas grinned, seeing as his plan would work out even better now that you were facing the mirrors.
He put his hand on your bare arm, dragging his fingertips up your skin.
“I’m so glad you took off the leather jacket. Your outfit looks so much better without it,” he murmured.
You immediately froze. Your eyes were glued to the two of you in the mirror. You watched as his hand went up to your shoulders, pressing down lightly on your muscles.
“Shouldn’t you be running, Y/n?” Silas asked, moving. your hair out of the way so he could get a better view of your neck.
You knew you should, but his touch felt so good. It weirdly calmed your nerves down, but also made you flustered as hell. You would be lying if you said you didn’t want to stay in this bathroom and let him take you. Silas smiled at your thoughts, lowering his lips down to your shoulder.
“I can totally take you right here if you want,” he whispered, his lips making contact with your skin.
You inhaled sharply, finding yourself stumbling back into his chest. His other arm went around your waist, holding you close to him.
“Your skin is so soft, doll face,” he said while kissing up your neck.
You watched him in the mirror, your stomach doing flips. Your legs felt weak and heat gathered in between your thighs. You had honestly wanted to kiss him this whole time. You decided a few more minutes in the bathroom couldn’t hurt.
So you turned around, crashing your lips onto his. Silas smiled as you kissed him, his hands trailing down to your legs. He lifted you up with ease, taking you to the sink and placing you on the counter. Your legs wrapped around his waist, your hands running themselves through his hair.
“Silas,” you breathed out as you felt his hands on your thighs, going higher and higher.
“You like that, princess?” He hummed, his fingers going higher until they reached your clothed entrance. He pulled away, grinning and looking you in the eyes.
“Uh-huh,” you hummed, pulling his face close to yours roughly.
Your lips collided again, your heart and brain exploding. Kissing him felt like heaven.
Silas mirrored your neediness and put his hands on your waist, pulling you impossibly closer. You pressed your chest up to him more, your hands going down from his head to the bottom of his shirt. You lifted it up, Silas pulling away so you could pull it off of him. You sat back and admired his abs and muscles, excitement growing in between your thighs.
You dove down to his neck, kissing and sucking lightly. Your hands explored his chest, tracing along his prominate abs. Silas breathed heavily into your ear, groaning as you found his sweet spot.
“Oh, Y/n,” he panted.
You smirked against his skin. Before you could put your hands on his belt, the bathroom door burst open. You saw Caroline and Damon standing, eyes huge and mouths agape.
“What the hell!” Caroline shrieked.
Your eyes widened and you pushed Silas away from you, getting off the counter.
“Really, Y/n? You pick him to make out with in the bathroom?” Damon groaned.
“It is just happened,” you shrugged sheepishly.
“Yeah, she’s a really good kisser,” Silas smirked. “I never would have expected it since she’s shy and all, but man, she is wil-”
“You shut the hell up. And you,” Caroline pointed to you. “Are going home. now.”
“He wasn’t hurting me, Care,” you said.
Caroline looked at you two incredulously. “You’re making her say this! You pressured her, didn’t you!” She pointed to Silas.
“He’s not! I was the one who kissed him first,” you admitted. “Yeah, but I helped a little,” Silas smirked.
Caroline made her vampire face and lunged at Silas, to which Damon pulled her back.
“Alright, blondie, why don’t you take Y/n home and I’ll deal with Silas, okay?” Damon said.
Caroline huffed and nodded, grabbing you by the arm roughly.
“We’ll continue another time, doll face!” Silas exclaimed.
“No, you will not,” Damon glared.

MATCHUP FOR:
@marvelieber-rdjr01
I’m 20 years old, 5'2 and petite. I'm caucasian with hazelnut eyes and hazelnut mid length hair. I'm very chaotic when it comes to style (or anything), but I'd define it as cute streetwear. I'm in film school, majoring in cinematography. I love sports, trying out new things, reading, investigating about random topics I get obsessed with, watching movies, etc. I'm booksmart and very naive despite not trusting people. I like crafting puzzles, I'm a science kid, very nerdy, a kind soul, a helper, and an indecisive overthinker. I'm very empathetic, an ambivert, ENFP 3w2 and a leo. I'm an overachiever, but I tend to procrastinate a lot. I love intelectual people. I suck at describing myself

Quote:
«You touch me and suddenly I feel a little less war torn. I'm not sure what peace is supposed to feel like but I think it may feel a lot like you.»
You like unconventionally attractive men; Buck's unconventionally attractive. You like intellectual men; Buck became a jurist. You like older men; Buck— okay we get it, we get it.
This man does not know how to approach you because it's an instant coup de foudre.
Cupid did this man soooo dirty, he's kind of a mess when he first approaches you; trying to act all charismatic and sure of himself but he's constantly straightening his uniform and gulping because you are so perfect for him????
You hit it off pretty quick though, and soon your The It Couple™. The fact that you're dating is no big deal for either of you, HOWEVER everyone in Easy knows you're dating and they're in awe of it.
This man constantly buys you pretty stuff because he knows you're an aesthetic slut and he loves that for you.
You two swindle people when you gamble; your sweet face and Buck's charismatic nature are the perfect combination to shamelessly lure replacements into gambling.
Occasionally you might scam a veteran too, but Toccoa men have been with you for long enough to know you're no innocent angel, and that they're going to lose against the two of you.
Did you know his mom worked for film studios? And that he worked as an extra before joining the paratroopers? YEAH ME NEITHER. Bet he grew up loving films.
Side note, apparently he was thrown off the set of Modern Times after angering Charlie Chaplin. I find that iconic and so should you.
Movie nights are a usual thing between the two of you, not as in "let's make out in the theater" but as in "let's enjoy this movie together and then comment it over a fancy dinner".
He helps you make yourself known in the film industry after the war.
Buck is an sport enthusiast —he played with the UCLA football team AND was inducted to the UCLA baseball Hall Of Fame—, so every new sport you try out, he's in to try it with you.
Quite a competitive bitch too, but bet you can relate to that, now can you? Don't lie.
Random play fighting that ends up in make out sessions vibes.
Lots of forehead kisses on his part; lots of clavicle and shoulder kisses on your part.
Lots of leaning on you to whisper a joke or two in your ear and make you wheeze, because he loves when you laugh. Gives him butterflies.
Do I have time to get into the angsty part? Honey, I always have time for the angsty part.
We know Buck has a bit of a hard time after Bastogne; you're most likely to become his anchor.
You make him feel like he doesn't have to have a smile on all the time, and give him enough reassurance for him to quite literally break down in front of you.
Hug him for god's sake. This man needs to be held, specially by you. Let him know he's safe. Let him cry his eyes out for a bit.
It's not a usual thing but it definitely happened more than once.
Enough angst; on a lighter note he's kind of a history buff, so he's going to randomly blurt out history things, specially roman Empire related stuff.
In return, he likes when you rant to him about random topics you investigated. Like, genuinely. He'll put aside whatever he's doing and sit through it, paying attention the whole time and intervening.
He's a Capricorn Sun I'm so very sorry honey, but at least that means you have something in common; material gurls.
He prevents you for helping too much, reminding you to take care of yourself above everyone else. If you don't listen, you dumb bitch, don't fret, he'll most definitely take care of you.
You two have such an exquisite taste my love, fancy restaurants, fancy cocktails, fancy clothes, fancy vacations, luxury and aesthetic are priorities here— good 👏🏻 for👏🏻 you 👏🏻.
Whenever you're out of social batteries, Buck takes on the task of making a conversation with everyone so you can get a break, while simultaneously giving you enough attention so you don't feel lonely.
He's going to protect you like the little treasure you are. No one is taking advantage of you while he's around. He's going to tell people off and then tell YOU not to get fooled.
Ironically enough, it's you who warns him about the people that give off horrible vibes. He'd be all smiley and shit, and you'd be by his side like "(ಠ_ಠ) do NOT trust them".
Take care of him too though, I get "I forget about myself in order to take care of others" vibes from him.
Again, a match made in heaven girl.

“What if Paris was the first time we’d met?” || Thomastair University AU
I wrote this because 1) anxiety and 2) the idea of what would happen if Thomas and Alastair had met for the first time in Paris is killing my soul so here you go
Thomas closed his notebook with a sigh.
“I know you want to say it,” Thomas grounded.
Lucie looked at him with big innocent eyes. “Say what?”
Thomas rolled his eyes.
Lucie smiled at him and while they both stood up, she said with a grin, “Okay, I will say it. I told you not to drink last night. I told you.”
Thomas signed again. “Yeah, you did. In my defense, that guy was cute and I was nervous!”
“No excuses!”
“Mr. Lightwood.”
Thomas stopped on the exit and looked at the professor. “Yes, Mrs. Jahanshah?”
Sona Jahanshah handed him a list. “Your paper. I wished to give it to you yesterday but well.” You weren't here was left unsaid but they both knew what she meant.
Thomas felt ashamed. His Farsi class was his favorite and Mrs. Jahanshah was an awesome woman. Strict and rarely allowing compromises but amazing teacher. Thomas didn't want to let her down by missing her classes to get drunk. Especially on the second day of the new semester.
He hesitatingly took the paper and looked at it. A small smile appeared on his face.
“Thank you Mrs. Jahanshah,” he said. He hurried to Lucie who was waiting for him at the door.
“Well?” she raised an eyebrow.
Thomas grinned but only said, “Nothing.”
“Come on, let me see!”
“Nope.”
Lucie tried to grab it from him but she was too small compared to him. And in general. In the end she gave up but said this wasn't the end.
“One day I will read your work, Thomas Alexander Lightwood, remember my words.”
“Yeah, of course,” he said with a smile.
Together they left the university and went to the near coffee shop where they were supposed to meet with Lucie's friend, Cordelia.
Thomas was a little jealous how Lucie could find a soulmate so fast. It has never been so easy to Thomas. It will never be. Maybe he was just too awkward. Sometimes he felt like his insecurities were written all over his face.
Lucie's smile widened. “There she is. It seems her brother is also here.”
“I have work,” Alastair said.
“We all have,” Cordelia said.
“Okay, I have a lot of work.”
“Come on,” Cordelia arched an eyebrow. “You should take a rest from time to time. Or else your brain would explode.”
“Sure,” Alastair said sarcastically. “Tell me again, why am I here? To rest? By meeting people?”
“It's just Lucie! And one of her friends, Thomas, who is a really adorable guy. It would be fine!”
Alastair wasn't convinced but didn't say anything. Cordelia was determined to make him talk with people for some reason.
“Oh, I see Lucie. She's right there.”
Alastair followed his sister's look. He spotted her friend, Lucie Herondale, a small but lively girl. They have spoken a few times but Alastair didn't really know anything about her except the things Cordelia told him.
Next to Lucie was a tall, broad-shouldered guy with a shy smile that was laughing at something Lucie said.
Alastair felt like someone kicked him in the stomach.
“Fuck,” he breathed. “You didn't tell me your friend is so cute.”
Cordelia blinked at him and smiled playfully. “I didn't know he is your type.”
“He is now,” Alastair stated.
Cordelia couldn't help but grin.
“Fuck,” Alastair said again looking at Thomas.
Thomas and Lucie sat on the table with Cordelia and Alastair. He was introduced to the Cordelia's brother and Thomas got worried he'd do something stupid and would make fool of himself in front of the beautiful guy next to him and-
Thomas forced himself not to space out too much but to listen to what the rest were talking about. He did his best to join the conversation but it wasn't easy to concentrate.
At some point Alastair said he's going to the bathroom and Cordelia went to ask for more coffee. Thomas breathed out and turned to Lucie.
“Why didn't you tell me your friend's brother is so cute? You know I don't know how to act around cute guys!”
“You are doing just fine,” Lucie said, trying to calm him down.
“Well, I was drowning in anxiety. But... I think it was sort of... the normal anxiety?”
“You mean...”
At this moment Cordelia returned to the table and Lucie didn't finish her sentence. Thomas was grateful. He was diagnosed with social anxiety and didn't feel comfortable talking about it in front of strangers. Only a few close to him people knew and Thomas did not want too many people to find out about it. It made him, well, anxious.
When Alastair got back he said he should hurry up for his next lecture and said goodbye. Thomas was a little disappointed.
Cordelia, Lucie and he had almost an hour until their next class so they remained in the cafe. Thomas wanted to know more about Alastair Carstairs but he thought asking Cordelia may look creepy and out of place. He may ask Lucie to do it. Or he himself to ask. Some day.
Thomas was nervous. It was his first time in a new class where he didn't know anyone (he didn't know many people in the university as a whole but still).
As he entered the room he tried to calm down. Took a deep breath. His anxiety was still there but after Thomas took his seat he felt like he wouldn't get an anxiety attack in front of the whole class and will survive this. Probably.
He prepared to take notes, took out a few pens (just in case) and tried to breath normally. He reminded himself no one was paying attention to him. There were a lot of people in the room, he was just another guy in it. It was going to be fine.
“Hey, can I sit here?”
Thomas turned to the person talking to him and blinked. Alastair Carstrais.
“Sure,” Thomas said after a second.
Alastair smiled a little and Thomas couldn't help it - he returned the smile.
“The room is just so full. I was worried there weren't any left seats.”
The room was indeed full. Thomas was happy he got here early so he could sit at a place he liked.
“Cordelia didn't mention you like history.”
“Cordelia is awesome but I'm not very close with her,” Thomas said. “And I'm a little bit of history buff,” he admitted.
“Enough history buff to take a class for it, it seems,” Alastair said with a small smile.
Thomas laughed. “Yes, apparently.”
The professor walked into the room and it got quiet.
Thomas listened with interest to the lecture, taking detailed notes. But he was also excited because of the person sitting next to him.
Thomas wasn't sure how much time had passed but he knew he was hungry.
“Hey,” Thomas turned to Alastair who had a little strange expression as he said this. “Wanna, like- I mean if you're not busy, to have lunch with me? Or even just coffee if you don't have a lot of time?”
Thomas' stomach did a flip but it was a good kind of flip, nervous and excited.
“I would be happy to have lunch together.”
Alastair smiled. It was a real, warm smile. “Okay.”
They went out of the university and Alastair said he knew a good place in the area. Thomas followed, careful to remember the way to it. He may need to come here again, hopefully.
As they sat, menus appeared in front of them almost immediately. Thomas ordered tea, Alastair - coffee until they waited for the food.
They talked about the lecture. It was about the history of the Ancient Near East. Alastair was half Persian and Thomas was fascinated to hear a few curious history facts about the Persian culture from him.
“I admit,” Alastair said. “My love of the Persian stories and songs is influenced by my mother. Sometimes she says it's her duty as a teacher to tell us, Cordelia and I, as much as she could about our heritage. Which of course has nothing to do with her profession but we don't say anything," Alastair laughed a little.
“Your mother is a teacher?” Thomas said curiously.
“Yes, for a few years now. She's a professor here.”
Thomas' eyes widened. “Wait, your mother is Sona Jahanshah?”
“The same,” Alastair said before drinking from his coffee.
“Whoa,” Thomas said with a smile. “I should have thought about it earlier. You have the same eyes.”
Alastair's eyes sparkled at this. He looked amused. “Most people would say we share the same temper not eyes.”
“This too,” Thomas laughed.
The conversation went in different directions a few times. They found out they share a great love for music. That Alastair's favorite book is The Prince by Machiavelli. Thomas in returned said his is Rubaíyat́ of Omar Khayyaḿ. They promised to read each other's favorite books because they haven't read it before. Thomas found out Alastair can play a piano and sing. Thomas wanted to hear him.
“What made you choose to come to France?” Thomas asked at some point.
“It's mainly because me and Cordelia wanted to study here. Paris is one of the cities where we were the happiest. So we moved here.”
Thomas wanted to ask about his father but he knew from Lucie Cordelia and Alastair's father was a sensitive topic so Thomas decides to leave it alone.
“How about you? Are you a big fan of France?”
“Not exactly,” Thomas laughed nervously. “Actually, coming to France doesn't seem very wise. My father wanted me to go study in Spain or Wales. Which would be logical because I know Spanish and Welsh. My father has connections in Spain and Lucie's father is Welsh. I started to learn French only a year ago. But...” Thomas tried his best to explained it. When he was saying it out aloud it sounded like a stupid decision but it makes sense Thomas' head. “It's about the university. The history of this city. I admire it. Lucie and I talked about it and our parents let us study here only because they know we're together.”
The waiter came to serve them the food and Thomas paused. He even didn't remember ordering a second time.
“You probably think I'm silly," Thomas said, feeling stupid.
“No, no," Alastair shook his head. “Not at all. I think I understand.”
Thomas looked at his eyes. He believed him.
“Also, you speak Spanish, Welsh and learn Farsi and French? I'm impressed.”
Thomas smiled a little shyly at that. He didn't mind compliments but coming from Alastair felt different.
The time was passing and they barely noticed. They both missed their lectures but as much as it was unusual for Thomas he barely cared. He did not regret the time spent with Alastair.
They exchanged numbers and social media. Alastair promised to send him more book recommendations. Thomas kept smiling the whole day.
the tree: sorry luce i can't have lunch with you today
small bean: ooooh, and why is this, little john?
the tree: i'm just not hungry
small bean: yeah yeah and i'm cinderella
small bean: are you seeing someone? someone dark haired maybe?? 👀
Thomas blushed a little and put his phone back into the pocket without answering.
“Ready to go?”
“Yep,” Thomas followed Alastair through the exit and together left the university.
They sat in the same place as the last time. Even on the same table. Thomas liked that.
“Okay, I suggest not to miss our lecturers this time,” Alastair said.
“Agreed,” Thomas said, laughing. “I can't survive this class only on Lucie's notes.”
They talked about books. They both have read each other's favorite book now and had thoughts to share. Alastair passionately talked about one quatrains of Rubaíyat́ of Omar Khayyaḿ while Thomas was eating from his toast. Since he left London he has forgotten the pleasure of talking about books with someone who was as much investigated in it as Thomas.
Same as the last time the conversation went in different directions. They talked a little about themselves.
“I miss my friends and family,” Thomas admitted. “We were always together, very close to each other. It was weird at first when I came here, without them being around.”
“Tell me about them.”
With almost every other person Thomas would think they were trying to make small talk. Alastair though, Thomas knew, didn't speak things he doesn't mean.
So Thomas told him. He told him about his sisters but not much about Barbara who had passed away because he felt like this was too personal. About the Merry Thieves and a little bit about how they're families were friends.
In return Alastair told him about the cities he had traveled to and what he likes about them, which places were beautiful, the history of them. After his parents' divorce when Alastair was almost 18, he, Cordelia and Sona moved to Paris because the siblings wanted to study here.
They could talk for many more hours but an alarm sharply interrupted them. It was Alastair's phone. He shut it down.
“This is for me. My lecture starts after ten minutes.”
“Oh,” Thomas couldn't hide his disappointment. “Okay.”
“Hey, do you want... to meet tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow is Saturday?” Thomas said, confused. “We don't have classes.”
“I know,” a strange look appeared on Alastair's face. Thomas in shock realized it was nervousness. “Actually, I... I’m asking you to go on a date with me.”
Thomas' heart skipped a beat. It was impossible to stop the smile on his face.
“Okay.”
“You're nervous.”
“I am not,” Alastair said defensively. Cordelia arched an eyebrow. “Okay, maybe a little bit.”
“Try not to freak out too much. He's just a guy.”
“A guy with a cute smile.”
“Yeah,” Cordelia laughed. “But you're cute too.”
Alastair frowned at her. “Don't you have homework?”
“I have,” she admitted. “But I also have a brother who has a date.”
Alastair sighed. “He is far from the first guy I have a date with.”
“But he's the first after you-know-who.”
Alastair shook his head. “His name is not a trigger. You can say it. And it doesn't matter. It was a long time ago.”
It wasn't too long ago and Alastair maybe wasn't too happy about his situation with Charles but Cordelia didn't need to know this.
Alastair out on his shoes and coat. The weather wasn't too chilly.
“Actually, I meant... Doesn't matter,” Cordelia said. “Just have fun, remember he is just a guy as nervous as you and don't break his heart because he's Lucie's friend and I like her.”
Alastair couldn't help it but smile. He kissed his sister's forehead and went out.
Thomas saw Alastair coming and tried not to look too anxious or look if his clothes were okay.
And he tried his best not to stare at the gorgeous view Alastair was.
Alastair led them on the way to the place he had in mind. It was far from the center, in a small alley that had one beautiful fountain. As they entered the small restaurant Alastair said a few words to the staff member and she immediately led them to their table.
It wasn't what Thomas imagined. They went upstairs. This floor was definitely emptier than the first one - the tables were farther from one another, with only a couple of people on them.
Their table was on the balcony. Thomas' breath stopped when he saw the view. He barely noticed as they sat and the waiter put menus in front of them.
Paris was beautiful during the night. The city of lights. The Eiffel Tower stood gold and sparkling.
“It's beautiful,” Thomas said and turned to Alastair. He caught him staring at Thomas with a smile on his lips.
“It really is,” Alastair said and also looked at the view before opening his menu. “I got lucky to reserve a table here. Part of which was that my mother and the owner are good friends,” Alastair laughed.
Thomas smiled and also opened his menu. “So. What do you recommend?”
Alastair carefully scanned the page he was on. “The toast is awesome. And the desserts are unique. Here is the best tiramisu in Paris.”
“You really like coffee, don't you?” Thomas said with a smile.
“Yes,” Alastair said. “I admit, I do love coffee a hella lot.”
Soon the waiter came to take their orders. After he left, Thomas said, “I'm curious about something. How did you come out? Wait, are you out to your family? Is this a sensitive topic? Oh god, I'm so-”
“It's okay,” Alastair laughed. “Do you always ask every guy such questions on the first date?” he teased.
Thomas blushed a little. “Well. Sometimes,” he cleared throat. “Anyway! Answer my question. Or don't if you don't want to.”
“I'll answer,” Alastair said, trying to hide a smile.“I came out to Cordelia first, a few years ago. Then she convinced me that coming out to Mâmân wouldn't be a disaster. And she was right. It was difficult at first. But it's mostly fine right now.”
The waiter came with their drinks - ginger beer for Thomas and black decaffeinated coffee for Alastair.
“How about you?” Alastair asked after they were alone again. “Are you out?”
“I am kind of out to my family and friends too, yes.”
“Kind of?” Alastair arched the eyebrow.
“It's a funny story actually,” Thomas said. “At first, one of my cousins, Anna, came out as non-binary lesbian. Not long after this Matthew, one of my best friends, came out as bi. And you see, in some way they cleared the path for me. When I came out no one was even surprised. I think they kind of expected everyone to come out as gay at some point,” Thomas laughed.
He didn't mention how sickly anxious he was to come out because he was worried his parents would react bad. Or how he worried his friends and sisters won't understand. Or the irrational, freezing fear to let even one person know something so personal about him.
They talked more about London. Alastair said he was there only once but would like to visit again. They joked that Lucie would drag Cordelia there for the first holiday that appears.
At some point they started to talk about Paris. Which museums they have visited so far. Alastair was scandalized Thomas hasn't visited the Louvre yet. They agreed they should go to one museum together some day.
It was a beautiful night, warm, with a nice breeze. They talked for long, so long they were the only ones left in the restaurant. In another time, in another life the same was happening. They were both different people, with different pasts and so different memories, unsaid words and broken hearts. But as the city of light was watching over them tonight they had this sweet memory, echoing through the centuries.

Should I get this cookie run game? I'm interested to know what it's like and I'm looking for an experienced person to ask if they reccomend it or not
It’s a bit long but i hope this gives you a clear idea of what the games are like as well as the company behind them: Cookie Run Ovenbreak (the “main” game): Gameplay: - 2d side scroller - you run and collect jellies/points - 2 main keys: jump/slide - each cookie has different perks and abilities - compete in races where the winner with a higher score gets rewards - compete in guild races with other members to beat other guilds for rewards - events and new cookies released often PROS: - cute art, music, and characters - fun for a while CONS: - extremely grindy, it became a chore really fast and i dreaded playing it - it’s PAY TO WIN if you’re a new player and haven’t invested a lot of time yet to make it “bearable” - new cookies are generally the “META” meaning you need them to score well (thus P2W) - it can be difficult to keep up/score well enough if you fall behind because of the constant new “you must get this new cookie” updates - events are very repetitive Yes/No? I personally would say no after playing it for a while. It maybe fun for the first while but it gets grindy and boring. == Puzzle World (the “match 3″ game): Gameplay: - matching game - unlock/use cookies with different abilities/power ups PROS/CONS: - i can’t really list these since i’m not interested in matching games Yes/No? If you’re into matching games and you like characters then sure ==
Cookie Run Kingdom (the farm/pvp game): Gameplay: - new, so easy to catch up atm - farm resources to create items - decorate your kingdom with buildings and deco items - small pool of cookie characters (for now) - pvp system with a customizable team of cookies to fight each other - story/lore to follow with story map - dialogue and voices available - each cookie has different skills and stats - frequent events - guilds will probably be released soon PROS: - one of the easier and more ‘forgiving’ type farm games - very cute art, music, and characters - many interactions you can do with the cookies and the decorations/buildings - combat system is fun - clear timeline of events and upcoming events CONS: - it crashes so damn much - it’s imbalanced in terms of cookies, (ex. you ABSOLUTELY NEED espresso to win) - not as P2W as ovenbreak CURRENTLY, but i do see the possibility since that’s how they messed up their old game Cookie Wars - unclear at times and has translation errors (ex. details about the buff items for pvp is inconsistent with KR text) - it’s not very balanced with overall character skills and items (ex. attack speed is kind of useless but they still make it a “thing”, and crit resist)
Yes/No? If you’re really interested in trying the cookie run games, this is probably the one you should go for. It’s still new (released in late january 2021) so it’ll be easy for you to catch up. You can get a head start when things become more P2W (which they most likely will) But be prepare for crashes and frequent long maintenances. == Devsisters (the company itself): Before deciding, I think it’s good to also know a bit about the company. I want to make it clear that they are not an indie company. It is a corporation that is owned and run by men. The management team behind this company purposely chose the name Devsisters as a marketing tactic so investors and customers were “more likely” to choose to work with them when they think the company is run by women. They have a very long history of showing misogyny within their games despite the cute characters and supposed representation. If you want to read about it in detail, you can check it out here:
{{WARNING: it may be upsetting and have sensitive content such as clear misogyny and homophobia}}  twitter(DOT)com/I_love_My1a/status/1360645981918744578 (Also just in case someone tries to argue since it has happened) Many KR players HAVE contacted the team about these issues a long time ago. The company waited a long time and MASS REPLIED to all reports with the SAME COPY AND PASTE MESSAGE of in a nutshell: “sorry we can’t do anything”. But are super quick to take action when men are mocked/insulted in usernames/messages == Conclusion: What i’m trying to say is, if you do decide to play the games or just join in the fandom(+ consume the cute character content), it’s good to be aware that the people managing it may not be genuine and the games can be quite P2W.
Some players found it difficult to keep playing or staying with the series after these many incidents came to light, some found it even difficult to join the fandom...
They are not much different than the big triple A game companies that have a long history of questionable actions/decisions behind closed doors. (cough blizzard+riot)
The artists and the creative team themselves are still the MVP of the company and the reason why the game is still alive today. (I truly think they’re just trying to do what they can to make a living since it is quite difficult to get an art type job especially in South Korea with so many competitors)
I personally refrain from purchasing too much and think that it’s best to directly support the artists of the team since they do have their own personal social media online.
*~*~*~*TL;DR*~*~*~* It’s a cute game but you don’t need to play it to enjoy it. I personally think that the main success factor are their characters, which you can very well enjoy them on their own without touching the games at all. I hope this was informative and helpful for you! FINAL NOTE: I want to clarify that most of what I said are my opinions only. BUT the contents of the link and the history of the company is real. The evidence is mostly in that tweet but also deeper if you want to look further.

The Giant of Marathon
For some reason, probably because I've seen them all so many times, I thought I'd already done all four Film Crew episodes.  Evidently this is not true.  Here's one, and if you haven't seen it... wow, Mr. Honcho was not exaggerating about the thousands of sweaty men.
Philippides of Athens is the greatest athlete there is, having won the entire Olympics. With the games over, he returns to his day job as commander of the Athenian city guard.  Followers of Hippias the exiled tyrant are plotting to take control of the city with help from the invading Persians, and they try to seduce Philippides to their cause by offering him wine, women, and homoerotic wrestling (it was ancient Greece, after all).  Philippides refuses to be seduced, and sets off to secure the help of Athens' old enemy Sparta in opposing the Persians.  His mission is a success, but upon his return a spy tells him that the Persians are planning a sneak attack on the harbour of Piraeus.  Can even Philippides get there in time to deliver the warning?
I don't actually know if it were possible to win the entire Olympics in ancient Greece.  I know there were several events and at least one of them involved reciting poetry.  The Battle of Marathon was in 490 BC and a table on Wikipedia suggests that there could have been up to twelve different sports, but some of them were only for children.
Tumblr media
The Giant of Marathon touts itself as a tale of epic battles, daring deeds, and political machinations.  I'll get back to the epic battles and daring deeds, but what stands in for the political machinations is mostly a bunch of people pining.  Unimpressive villain Theocritus is pining for the beautiful Andromeda, whose father has promised her to him but she thinks he's a dick.  She's pining for Philippides, who is also pining for her but thinks she's one of Hippias' followers, so refuses to speak to her.  Meanwhile Theocritus' concubine Charis is also pining for Philippides because he's the only man who ever refused to fuck her, I think.
These relationships are important to the plot, too.  Andromeda's love for Philippides is one of the reasons her father refuses to join the traitors, and when Theocritus realizes he cannot have her, he ties her to the prow of his ship to force Philippides to watch her die.  Charis' crush on Philippides leads her to her death, as she is executed for spying.  Yet none of it is ever developed beyond 'these two pretty people saw each other and now they want to bone'.  Philippides declares his love for Andromeda after a single five-minute interaction.  Charis has seen Philippides twice, and both times it went badly, when she decides to betray Theocritus.
Why do the writers hang such important plot points on the 'love' between people who have barely spoken to each other?  I can't decide if it's because they're lazy, or because they're hacks, and I lean towards a combination of the two.  There is absolutely no subtlety to the writing in The Giant of Marathon at all.  Everything is told, not shown.  We know that Theocritus and Creusus are traitors because they talk about it, in dialogue that's clearly written for the audience, not as anything that sounds like a natural conversation. We know that Charis and Andromeda are both in love with Philippides because they say so.  The only thing we're really shown is that Andromeda hates Theocritus, which comes through in her body language (though we are also very much told), so props to actress Mylène Demongeot for that much.
Tumblr media
The movie doesn't care about any of this character stuff, anyway.  It just wants to get straight to those epic battle scenes, and it's very obvious how much work and time went into those as opposed to everything else.  The battles are lengthy and elaborate, full of impressive stunts and props and miniatures being destroyed all over the place.  We get to see Persian chariots run down Greek infantry, and while I'm pretty sure this would have been orchestrated so the stuntmen didn't get hurt, I'm not nearly so confident about the unfortunate horses (and neither was Bill).  There are ships in flames and injured men screaming as they fall overboard.  There are even some pretty good deaths, like the guy who was hit in the eye with an arrow.  The desperate last stand of the city guard against the entire Persian fleet, with the Spartans arriving just in time to save the day, is very tense indeed.
I get the impression that this is what somebody really wanted to put on screen, and they did a decent job of it, but pretty much the entire rest of what ought to be the story is just an accessory to the fighting stuff.  It's as if the film-makers wanted so badly for their fight sequences to be epic that they forgot what makes epic-ness – which is the characters and their stake in the events. We don't know any of these people, none of them have anything we might call a personality trait, and so we don't care.
The focus on how epic it all is makes I seem a little strange that the battle ends on a shot of dead Persian guys floating in the water. You'd think they'd want to end with something that more decisively shows the Athenian victory, maybe the men cheering as the Persian ships turn around and flee.  Or perhaps some kind of victory celebration, which could mirror the celebration of Philippides winning the Olympics in the opening and call back to the scene where Philippides asks the goddess Athena to protect her city.
Tumblr media
Instead, we cut to a shot of Philippides and Andromeda walking across the farmland together.  This feels a little too sudden, and is also a poor fit with the rest of the movie.  The only time we've seen Philippides on his farm is when he's gotten disgusted with the politics of Athens and returned to the countryside to sulk.  If the farm is supposed to be a place where he's happy and at peace, the movie never establishes it.
So that's political machinations and epic battle sequences, let's talk about some daring deeds.
Unlike the Hercules and Maciste movies we've seen in the past, The Giant of Marathon wants to be grounded in real-life history.  This means that while the script does reference gods and mythical heroes, none of them ever appear and there is no hint of them working behind the scenes to bring events about.  Likewise, Philippides is not a demigod, so we avoid several of the tropes associated with the genre.  Nothing important ever happens (or fails to happen) because the hero was asleep, and he never bends prison bars or drinks a love potion – although a love potion is mentioned, as if to draw attention to this.
This doesn't leave Philippides a whole lot of scope for daring deeds, and when they try the results are a little lackluster.  His main feat is, of course, running all the way from Marathon to Athens (the proverbial forty-two kilometres) to let them know of the impending attack, but while this ought to be the highlight of the movie it's shot in terrible day-for-night and we have nothing to suggest how far this is... I think the writers just assumed everybody knows the length of a marathon.  If we'd seen the army tired from making the march earlier, we would have a better sense of it being a long and tiring journey even at a walk or with horses, and it would seem that much more formidable as a distance for one man to cover before sunrise.  Of course, showing us these things is apparently beyond the scope of The Giant of Marathon's writers, but you'd think they could at least have a character say something like, “it's twenty-six miles!  He'll never make it!”
His other major daring deed is when he pushes giant boulders down a hill onto the attacking Persians.  This is kind of weird because Philippides is not Hercules or Maciste.  He's good at track and field, but we haven't seen any evidence of him having godlike strength, and this is a universe where gods don't seem to do much anyway, so it comes out of nowhere.  The rocks are huge – there are similarly-sized ones at the park near my house and I know one guy couldn't move them no matter how buff he might be.  Did somebody just forget that they weren't making a Hercules movie?
Tumblr media
Between the battles and the various plot twists, The Giant of Marathon could have been a pretty fun sword-and-sandal movie, but it's like a tower without a foundation.  The fights have nothing to hold them up, so we just can't get into it. Also, what the Underworld happened to Hippias? We see him once, chatting with the king of Persia, and then he vanishes and the movie decides weaselly little Theocritus is the big bad instead. I'm sorry, but if you've got a character with a name as cool as 'Hippias the Tyrant', you really can't just drop him like that.
The Best Brains liked to complain about the tinyness of the costumes in these movies but honestly, nothing here is as off-putting as actual ancient Greek sports would have been to the modern viewer.  When I was in university I TA'd for a course called Introduction to Greco-Roman Civilization. It was an adventure in several ways – the students were mostly dumb freshmen who spent the lectures playing Farmville, and the professor didn't give a shit because she'd just been denied tenure.  I don't know how much anybody learned in that class, but I'm sure they all recall how, after the professor told us that Greek athletes stripped naked and covered themselves in olive oil before wrestling, somebody raised a hand and asked if they removed their body hair.  The professor cheerfully told him that they did not, so next time we see a Greek vase we ought to remember that these guys were much sweatier, oilier, and hairier than terra cotta can possibly convey.

Historical Simblr Tag Game
thank u for tagging me my queen @cassimopeia
1. What has been your favorite time period to play in or which one are you most excited for?
I adore Edwardian era fashions, so I had a lot of fun playing the early 1900s and 1910s! I’m also really excited to play the 40′s, bc again, more fashion. Also some story drama with the war...😋
2. Do you have a favorite piece of historical cc? (CAS or BB)
I loooove the stuff from @linzlu and @happylifesims
3. Who is your favorite sim currently?
Right now, I’d say it’s Theodore bc that's my goofy son, but I also think Irene is moving up in the ranks (might make her my heir)
4. What is your favorite world?
Brindleton Bay all the way! I have a soft spot for rustic seaside towns. I just think it’s so gorgeous there all the time, and Seasons definitely adds to it.
5. Are you more gameplay or story focused?
The writer in me instinctively leads toward a story focus, as I can’t help but have a penchant for causing drama with my characters. I do love just playing with my sims sometimes for fun without posting them though as I feel like posting gameplay is a little stale sometimes
6. Do you like to play with pets in your historical saves?
Yes! I think I care about Pockets the cat more than any Townsend child
7. What's your biggest immersion breaking pet peeve with the game?
Texts and calls on their cell phones 🙄 also when I don’t have room for too many cc items, a lot of the furniture can seem kinda modern, which is annoying at times (which is why I don’t take many pictures in their house)
8. What's your favorite in-game historical item? (CAS or BB)
Laundry day comes in clutch for those old methods of laundry! It’s nice to see my sims laboring over a wash bin instead of just throwing them in the washer and dryer. I also love a lot of the furniture from Cats and Dogs, as they have an old rustic vibe that’s perfect for my game.
9. What would you like to see as a new pack or asset to the game?
More old school appliances! Typewriters and rotary phones etc etc. Since we have the off the grid lot trait and now cottage living, it would be nice to have some more vintage items to buy
10. What pack do you think is invaluable as a historical simmer?
If I had Cottage Living, it would be Cottage living…but sadly there is no way I could download it without my laptop blowing up 💔 So Cats and Dogs is a close second! Very rustic vibes in the world and the build and buy
11. Do you have a favorite mod to enhance historical gameplay?
I don’t have much room for mods, but I know that the Timeless mod and mods that disable electronics are really good for immersion! Hopefully I can download those soon
12. What's your ideal family size for playing?
About 4-6! (Pets included) 1-2 sims families are soooo boring I’ve found, but having a couple children and a pet or two really adds to the fun!
13. Do you use poses?
@ts4-poses is my new best friend. I can never find a good angle for gameplay actions, and pose makers are awesome at what they do, so I’m always on the lookout!
14. Do you use any overrides in your game?
Just a skin and eye overlay to make the sims faces look softer/more realistic
15. Do you, or did you, play off-the-grid during your game?
Yep! During the 1890s and 1900s I used it, and it was actually really challenging. But since Paul married rich, he had electricity and lighting by the 1910s
16. What lifespan do you play on?
Normal! I think it’s a sweet spot as Long makes everything boring and Short makes everything rushed
17. What inspired you to start playing historically?
I originally wanted to have a legacy story because of @softpine story. And when I found the queen who is @pixelnrd I wanted to start a historical story, because I’ve always been a big history buff
Tagging @sister-magnolia and @antiquatedplumbobs if y’all haven’t done it already!

Tumblr media
The knock on your front door stirred you from your nap on the couch. You cursed this apartment building for not having peepholes. You unlocked two of the locks to open the door, it was just the Soldier. Undoing the other two locks, you opened the door fully to see him.
“You do this for a living, don’t you?” He asked, holding up his notebook in his gloved hand.
You almost asked how he had a clue but realized it was probably in the file HYDRA had on you. You nodded mutely.
“I can’t make out a lot of it. Can you help me?”
He awkwardly shoved the notebook in your hands. Making requests and asking for help must not have been something he did often because everything about his execution was rough. You flipped through the book to see what he was talking about. There were water stains, smudged ink, pages so faded that the only thing left was the indent of the word from when the pencil or pen had hit the page.
The Soldier’s eyes fell from you to inside your home. He could see the crumpled blanket on the couch and the TV playing Romanian soap operas on low. That’s when he noticed you weren’t wearing a dress like you always were when he saw you outside but were in pajamas.
“Were you sleeping? I didn’t mean to—”
“It’s fine. I probably shouldn’t sleep the whole afternoon away. Would you like to come in?”
He hesitated before stepping through the doorway. You pulled one of your empty binders with looseleaf sheets of notebook paper from the shelf.
“You can sit and, um, change the channel if you want,” you said as you went into your room to change clothes and look for a pen.
You sat down on the couch after finding one, there was a good bit of space between the two of you. You wrote on the front of the binder in big letters, Bucky 107th. Starting at the first page you began transcribing. You had been doing this with your grandpa since seven and had gotten pretty good at deciphering hard to read notebooks. It helped that in terms of handwriting, he was one of the neater scribes. The first few pages were very mundane, just describing army routines. The first real interesting bit of information was the first time he got wind of Steve’s Captain America act… not knowing it was Steve.
Is the clown in the bright suit supposed to make us feel better? Where’d they even find that punk? I suppose the dames behind him ain’t too bad… it’s all still too chirpy for me, this is real war not games like Stevie and I used to play. I never looked death in the mouth before but I feel like I’m staring it down more days than not now.
You looked up when you heard low laughter. He was laughing at the TV. Did he speak Romanian? You finished up journal entry for that day before setting the pen down. When you looked over to the clock it had been quite a few hours, he had surprisingly stayed the whole time. And didn’t move once, you would’ve remembered the weight of someone as big as him every time he got on or off the couch. You unclipped the sheets from the binder.
“Here are the first few pages. I’ll give you more when I finish another section.”
He took the paper from your hands, staring at his words in your handwriting.
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
Once again the air between you two grew heavy with silence. He stood up and started walking towards your front door, you quickly following behind to lock it.
Bucky got out of his shower to hear a faint scuffle sound in his front room— and only room aside from the bathroom. Without hesitation, he grabbed the small handgun and knife and stalked slowly towards the front entrance. He looked puzzled when he saw no one until a paper slipped under his door. He walked over and another went through. That’s when Bucky saw the small pile at the front door.
He recognized your handwriting right away, this would be the fourth time he’s received a section of his transcribed journal. You must’ve knocked when he was in the shower and when he didn’t answer decided to start sliding them underneath his door. Bucky smiled as the next paper slipped through. He was about to open the door when he could hear you stand up and then the shuffling of your feet.
Bucky collected up the sheets of paper and placed them on his kitchen counter, he still hadn’t finished the other section yet. You were transcribing faster than he could bring himself to read the journal. It wasn’t easy, every time he read a section he thought he could pick out a memory but it was blurry and not clear. It didn’t really feel like it was his.
The next time you opened your apartment door was to go to the market. The Soldier was at his front door, almost like he had been waiting for you. Before he could even ask, you patted the thigh where the knife was hidden. He nodded before letting you walk down the stairs first. You two walked in silence for the most part, occasionally when you needed to haggle a price he would do it for you after sensing you didn’t really know Romanian. You two walked back to the building when you spotted the ugly tourist shirts. It was delivery time!
You had finished the fifth section a little after dinner. These pages were all water stained making it take longer than the previous four. You unclipped the sheets from the binder and grabbed the cookie tin that your sister and mother had sent you. He answered on the third knock, just like you opening the door slightly before unlocking all the locks to see you fully. You handed him the papers.
“Thank you.”
“Um, my mother and sister sent me some more cookies. Did you want one? I can’t eat them all before I get more.”
“I wouldn’t want to bother you, you’re already doing a lot for me.”
“It wouldn’t be a bother, Bucky.”
It shocked both you and him. Bucky had noticed the way you avoided his name, trying not to ever call him. If you did it was usually ‘hey’ or even worse the occasional ‘Soldier’. He moved aside and motioned for you to come in.
The difference in you and Bucky’s apartments was day and night. Starting with he had a studio while you had a one bedroom. The pull out bed was currently put up in the couch. He also hadn’t decorated much, or at all. You had tried to make your safe house a home, Bucky was just trying to survive in a shelter. The only things not out of necessity he did have were a small television and a radio. Bucky grew self-conscious as you entered his space like he wasn’t aware you were really in there until you had set down the cookie tin.
If you didn’t like it, you didn’t make a point to show it. You weren’t in a dress but a skirt and top. He was starting to wonder if that was your leaving the house attire as if you always had to look presentable or people would judge you. Your hair was never not done, nails always filed and sometimes painted. He shouldn’t be analyzing you but he couldn’t help it, it was in his nature. And for the most part his analysis was right.
It was a habit that carried over since you were young. Rule One of being a black girl: you must be twice as good to get half as much. Rule Two: never give them a reason to walk over you. So you were always presentable, never looking a mess, and no one— not even Sam had ever seen you looking less than that.
You opened up the cookie tin and handed one to him. Bucky took a bite and had to admit they were good. He set down the papers on the counter next to the others and you looked at the two piles, one of pages already read and the other much taller to get to.
“It’s hard to read them for myself. Like the words aren’t mine,” he admitted quietly.
You jumped up as best as you could on the small counter, crossing your ankles so as not to flash him, and grabbed one of the papers from the stack.
“I’ve never seen so much fucking mud in my life.”
The brashness of his words was such a contrast coming from what he perceived to be a quiet girl— damsel in distress for lack of a better term. Bucky grabbed two waters from his fridge, setting one next to you as you continued.
“When will this dumb war be over? I’d like to get home, maybe find a dame or two and go dancing. Shit, see Stevie again hopefully in one piece and not a bruised body, kid can’t stay out a fight to save his life. They got in new weapons yesterday. I got first pick of the snipers, new one’s a lot more practical…”
You read three more days worth of Bucky’s journal.
“Thank you, you really didn’t have to.”
“I don’t mind, there’s not much to do here anyway.”
Both you and Bucky didn’t leave your apartments often. Soon you probably could, you told yourself that it was probably safe. You were getting closer and closer to the day Nick called and said you could go home. You even had the knife on you at all times but you still couldn’t bring yourself to enjoy the sights of Bucharest.
“I have an hour free after three and usually start transcribing your notebook after that, once I finish my other work. I can come over and read during that time or you could come over if you just want company while reading.”
Bucky gave you what you could only think resembled a smile and nodded at your suggestion. So a new schedule formed. Most of the time, he chose to come over to your place and would sit on one end of the couch while you sat on the other. Sometimes he would silently read his journal entries while you transcribed the newer ones. Other times, you would read them for him.
Bucky always had to wait a few minutes whenever he knocked on your door, you had to put on presentable clothes and fix your hair if you hadn’t done so already. The occasions he saw you in a headscarf, it was a patterned one that was purposely used for styling. Bucky looked over when he heard you gasp. You had just finished transcribing after Bucky and the rest of the 107th had been rescued by Captain America.
“Steve! He’s been looking for you, I’m sorry I forgot to tell you. I have his number, I can—”
“I don’t think I’m ready.”
“Okay.”
“Is that bad? Steve’s my best friend but I still can’t remember…”
You scooted over from your place on the couch to place a hand on Bucky’s arm.
“You need time and that’s perfectly valid. I’ll always have his number, we’ll call Steve and the others when you’re ready. I promise I won’t say anything until you’re ready.”
Bucky looked at you curiously when you lifted your pinky in front of his face. It seemed so trivial but you were wearing the most serious expression you could muster. He tentatively lifted his flesh hand and wrapped his pinky around yours. This was the first time since the incident in the alleyway that you two had real physical contact.
For the first time since he dumped Steve at your feet on the riverbank, Bucky felt like he might have a friend— or at least a person who cared about his well being past being an asset.

I Watched the First Episode of Every New Spring 2021 Anime Airing on Crunchyroll
Hey, are you like me, and feeling like you're not getting the most out of your Crunchyroll subscription? Sure, there's stuff on there that you know you like. But whenever I look at the big long list of simulcasting shows, my eyes glaze over and I don't even know where to begin.
I wanted to change my habits and see if there were any shining gems that I should be watching. So, as per the title, I watched the first episode of every new Spring 2021 anime on Crunchyroll. And guess what? There’s a lot of crap! But indeed, there’s some stuff that’s worth your time.
Some clarification: I've only watched shows that began their first season in April 2021.
Backflip!!

The Lowdown
As Futaba Shotaro comes to the end of middle school, his interest in baseball has begun to wane. Soon he notices the Ao High Boys Gymnastic Club and becomes enthralled, especially after seeing them perform. Once he learns they're down two members, he chooses to sign up and pursue the art of gymnastics. The club is also joined by Misato Ryoya, a star solo gymnast looking to expand his technique through teamwork.
Our Thoughts
Pretty formulaic shoujo sports anime: you've got your himbo, your thug, your ladies' man, your stoic guy, with Shotaro rounding out the cast as the shy and awkward audience surrogate. It looks wholesome enough, and the choreographed routines employ CG in a way that's quite convincing without being hideous.
Who It's For
Fans of  FREE, or Yuri!!! on Ice, or any similar shows about cute boys who succeed at athletic feats.

Burning Kabaddi
Show Link
The Lowdown
Legendary high school soccer star Yoigoshi Tatsuya has given up on sports! That is, until he's blackmailed to join the high school kabaddi team, under threat of his online persona being leaked to the entire school. Although Tatsuya initially writes kabaddi off as stupid, the unexpected happens as he begins to have fun.
Our Thoughts
Kabaddi is kinda like competitive tag, or dodgeball but with your body instead of a ball. Burning Kabaddi is basically the shounen alternative to Backflip!! above, replete with nosebleeds, pratfalls, and dudes punching each other. The main cast don't seem to like each other very much; that probably changes as the show goes on but at first blush it's a dynamic I always find annoying.
Who it's For
Fans of Haikyuu!!? Maybe?

CARDFIGHT!! VANGUARD overDress
Show Link
The Lowdown
The newest series based on Bushiroad's collectible card game, featuring character designs by the beloved collective CLAMP. Petit middle schooler Yu-Yu just doesn't know how to say no. As his older students dress him in drag to use as live makeup practice, he suffers a panic attack and flees into the streets. After being accosted by a pickup artist, he's befriended by Megumi, who invites him to witness a Cardfight match at the local abandoned amusement park. However, Yu-yu is too shy to tell Megumi he's actually a boy…
Our Thoughts
What an unexpectedly weird concept for a show about a card game. Our hero spends the whole episode in drag, whimpering and simpering at the sight of any conflict. Then they show off the latest series of cards, which all seem to be giant buff knights with names like "Bad Steve" and "Violent Bruce". Your guess is as good as mine.
Who it's For
Cardfight!! lovers, Japanese gender studies majors, or the most desperate fujoshi.

Cestvs: The Roman Fighter
Show Link
The Lowdown
The year is 54AD, and Nero has taken the throne as the youngest emperor of Rome. At the bottom of the population, Cestvs is a young slave training to be a colosseum boxer. Reluctant, his only choice is to fight or die.
Our Thoughts
Seeing Nero depicted as a gentle little twink is pretty funny. It's also pretty funny that the central character is named after a Roman boxing glove. The animation style transitions to some very uncanny CG when a major fight takes place, and I didn't like that one bit! This seems like a pretty average tournament anime but with a historical setting. It's currently unknown if any of these dudes are fucking each other. I'm gonna say probably.
Who It's For
The venn-diagram of Greco-Roman history buffs and lovers of tournament series?

Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro!
Show Link
The Lowdown:
Hachioji Naoto is a nerdy, introverted student who spends his time studying and avoiding socialising. When pages from the fantasy manga he's drawing fall out of his bookbag, they catch the attention of a younger student named Nagatoro Hayase. Nagatoro begins to tease Naoto for his otaku interests and awkward demeanour, peppered with some suggestive flirting.
Our Thoughts:
What would you do if a younger girl flirted with you? Would you cry? Piss your pants maybe? Maybe shit and cum? Don't Toy With Me… attempts to barely conceal its BDSM fantasy with its comedic elements, but it's incredibly apparent as Nagatoro always wipes away Naoto's tears as a sort of aftercare. It's like a lighter, comedic version of Aku no Hana, but lacking any of the ponderings or danger that made that work so special.
Who It's For:
People who search Pornhub for "bratty sister femdom".

86 Eighty-Six

The Lowdown
The Republic of San Magnolia and the Giad Empire, have been at war for nearly a decade. Using advanced military technology, the frontlines are fought by giant mecha drones called Juggernauts, controlled remotely by Handlers. Major Vladilena Mirizé is one of the military's most talented Handlers in the 1st District, and one who is constantly teased by her peers for the humanity and empathy she shows her squadron. The government line is that drone warfare has kept casualties to zero, but unbeknownst to the public these "drones'' are piloted by 86ers—the lowest class of citizens, forced to live in military internment camps in San Magnolia's 86th District.
Our Thoughts
This is incredibly my kind of thing. We've got a dual narrative being set up here: Vladilena as the kind, reluctant officer of a fascist regime, and the Bad Company-esque antics of her new ragtag squad, Spearhead. The first episode is split pretty evenly between the two, with each story converging at the end as Vladilena "meets" Spearhead for the first time through her comms station. It's an explosive and enticing first episode, and I can't wait to watch more of it.
Who It's For
Fans of Fullmetal Alchemist, Psycho-Pass, Gundam, or any number of anti-imperialist war stories.

Fairy Ranmaru
Show Link
The Lowdown
In a quiet corner of the city sits Bar F, a modest drinking establishment staffed entirely by five hot young men. Unbeknownst to the general population, these men are a crack team of fairies sent to the human world to gather the latent energy of "attachment". They do this by solving the problems of young women, taking their hearts in the process.
Our Thoughts
Hubba hubba, a little something for the ladies! It's Weiẞ Kreuz with a bar instead of a flower shop, fairies instead of assassins, and some pretty revealing outfits. There's definitely a little Persona 5 inspiration here too, from the punctuating phrase "Take your Heart!" to many of the visual cues. Make of that what you will.
Who It's For
Fans of Weiẞ Kreuz, slash fic authors.

Farewell, My Dear Cramer

The Lowdown
Onda Nozomi was once the star player of her middle school football team. Completely unmatched, she no longer plays as there's no opponent she deems to be on her level. Meanwhile Suou Sumire far outpaces her teammates, causing her frustration. By a twist of fate, these two girls find themselves joining the scrappy Warabi Seinan High School FC as they begin to learn the value of teamwork and friendship.
Our Thoughts
I don't know sports. And I really don't know football. I had to look up what the title meant, and now I barely know who Dettmar Cramer is. I'm really not the best person to judge this, but it seems like a pretty good female-driven sports anime.
Who It's For
Fans of Ace o Nerae! or other sports manga/anime about those ever burning bonds between young teammates.

Gloomy, the Naughty Grizzly
Show Link
The Lowdown:
Pitty lives with his pet Gloomy, a massive pink bear. Can a boy and a bear truly get along?
Our Thoughts:
This is a series of minute-long gag episodes in which Gloomy mauls Pitty and blood squirts everywhere. It's definitely meant to be a morbid parody of Sanrio or San-X; it might be a Rilakkuma parody in particular? Gloomy is the kind of thing you might laugh at if it came on in between shows, but it's pretty slight to go through the trouble of putting on.
Who It's For:
Gag anime fans with one minute to spare.

Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway
Show Link
The Lowdown
After a night of drinking in Tokyo, slovenly salaryman Yoshida encounters a teenage runaway sitting under a lamppost. She offers to sleep with him in return for letting her spend the night in his apartment. Yoshida refuses her offer but allows her to stay. The next morning the girl, Sayu, reveals she's travelled all the way from Hokkaido, sleeping with random men in return for lodging and money. Feeling responsible for her safety, Yoshida agrees for Sayu to stay indefinitely in return for handling household chores.
Our Thoughts
This is kind of the inverse of Koikimo (see below), but without a scumbag character and from a male perspective. It's not nearly as nauseating as that show, but it's still a fantasy about living with a busty teenage girl.
Who It's For
Libertarians.

I've Been Killing Slimes For 300 Years And Maxed Out My Level
Show Link
The Lowdown:
Office lady Aizawa Azusa dies of overwork in her early 20s, and finds herself standing before a lecherous goddess. Allowed a wish as compensation for her untimely demise, Azusa wishes for an endless life of leisure. The goddess reincarnates her as a 17-year-old immortal witch in an RPG-coded fantasy world. Thrilled, Azusa lazes about, brewing potions for her neighbouring villagers, and kills a small amount of slimes each day to supplement her income. After doing this every day for 300 years, she inadvertently finds herself at Level 99. Her peaceful life is soon upended as adventurers and dragons come from miles around to challenge the legendary witch.
Our Thoughts:
I'm not really an isekai fan, and that goes double for series which aren't set in an RPG, yet use RPG mechanics. Levelling up, grinding stats, min-maxing, as if it's a part of the fabric of the setting. I don't get it. I like watching numbers go up as much as the next dork, but I don't need to watch numbers go up in absolutely every piece of media I consume. Just play a fucking video game, Jesus Christ almighty.
I thought this might be setting up a fun series in which a layabout is reluctantly called upon to undertake a dangerous quest, but I don't think that's what's going on at all. When the red dragon Laika wrecks Azusa's house, she transforms into a cute young girl and the two begin living together, teaching each other the pros and cons of hard work and slothfulness respectively. The trajectory of the series might be as laid back as its protagonist in the end, which, ultimately, would be fitting.
Who It's For:
Isekai fans, slice-of-life fans. The twain have met!
Borscht Rating:
Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood

The Lowdown
In alternative history Japan the Meiji Period continued well into the 1930s, and the ongoing Tokugawa Shogunate has brought technological prosperity to the nation through a magical energy source called the Dragon's Vein. Sawa Yukimura runs a bookshop where she lives with her little sister by day, but by night she's an assassin for Nue, the shogunate's secret police. As the terrorist group Kuchinawa deploys transforming beasts in an attempt to topple the shogunate, Nue springs into action with their own abilities.
Our Thoughts
There are a lot of concepts competing here, and a few too many flashy transformation sequences for my taste, but I'm really into it! Nue are made up of sex workers and street musicians, often overlooked and therefore easily able to blend in. There's a supernatural Standalone Complex vibe to how the team operates, and they're almost assuredly on the wrong side. Worth a shot!
Who It's For
Fans of alternate history science fiction, Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex, Demon Slayer.

Koikimo: Koi to Yobu ni wa Kimochi Warui ("It's Disgusting to Call This Love")

Amakusa Ryo is a womanizing salaryman concerned with nothing but his own base desires. As he slips on the train station stairs one morning, he's saved by the swift action of Arima Ichika, a kind-hearted high schooler. When it turns out Ichika is friends with Ryo's younger sister Riou, he decides she's his soulmate, and begins to pursue her no matter how many times she refuses him. Comedy ensues!
Our Thoughts
Yeah, OK groomer.
Alright look, Korikimo is written by a woman and told from Ichika's perspective, so this is obviously meant to be a lighthearted "older man" shoujou romance. As an older man, all I saw were the adventures of a paedophile and the teenager he's stalking. Fuck off.
Who it's For
There's probably other stuff like this, right? If you like that, here you go.

Let's Make a Mug, Too
Show Link
The Lowdown
After the death of her mother, Himeno and her father relocate from bustling Tokyo to quiet Tajimi City in Gifu Prefecture. The former salaryman opens a quiet cafe using the remarkable mugs made by his late wife, while Himeno follows in her mother's footsteps and joins the school pottery club. Although her first project ends in disaster, Himeno makes fast friends with the eccentric pottery enthusiasts who make up the club.
Our Thoughts
It's no Eizouken, but I guess it's probably not meant to be. I'm not a big iyashikei genre fan, but if that's your thing, you might enjoy the wholesome non-adventures of three girls trying to make a mug. It's worth noting these episodes are only about 12 minutes long, with the remaining runtime segmented into live action episodes where the voice actresses tour Tajimi and unconvincingly pretend to be interested in Gifu's famous mino-yaki pottery. I think this must be a tie-in with a local tourist board.
Who It's For
People who enjoy stuff like Aria, actually.

Odokawa soon finds his quiet life disrupted by a caper involving a missing girl, some crooked cops, and the animal yakuza.
Our Thoughts
A deft blend of working class slice-of-life with mystery, cute animals, and striking visual design. OddTaxi might be the sleeper hit of Spring 2021.

SD Gundam World Heroes
Show Link
The Lowdown
The newest instalment of the SD Gundam media-mix franchise. In a world populated by super deform mecha, a burning meteor lands in the middle of Captain City. From it launches a terrible mechanized beast: Naughty Lion. When the police are powerless to stop it, a crack team led by Zhuge Liang Gundam and Liu Bei Gundam sorties to bring Naughty Lion to justice. When the beast stops rampaging, it transforms into Sun Wukong Gundam, a youthful amnesiac mecha horrified at the destruction he wrought. The Three Kingdoms Gundams welcome Sun Wukong into the fold to make sense of this mysterious event.
Our Thoughts
I'm an 80s kid, I know a 30-minute toy commercial when I see one.
No, seriously though, I'm aware of SD Gundam's merchandising—they're cute designs, and I even used to have a bunch of the gum rubber mini figurines. I've played the SD Great War Super Famicom games, they're fun! This is a vehicle to get kids hyped up about the latest toys, which are...based on  a hodgepodge of Journey to the West and Romance of the Three Kingdoms this year? There's even a little SD Guan Yu Gundam with a big long beard!
I kinda wanted to like the idea of a bearded robot, but the mechas are super busy and overdesigned. I guess there's only so much you can do to make your next series of toys bigger and better, so these guys are all decked out in gold accents, capes, horns, and antlers, and half the time I couldn't parse what I was seeing.
I'm so glad I don't have to watch any more of this.
Who It's For
Very, *very* young mecha fans.

Seven Knights Revolution: Hero Successor

The Lowdown
Long ago, the Dark God Nestra ruled the world through fear. Standing against him were the Seven Knights, seven brave warriors chosen by the Light Goddess Serrass. With their powers combined, Nestra was defeated and the lands returned to peace. Hundreds of years later the wicked Physis Cult seeks to revive Nestra, summoning undead beasts to ravage the countryside. With the Seven Knights long dead, the Granseed Academy has risen to train the next wave of heroes to combat this threat. Using special cards, the students of Granseed are able to call upon the power of the Seven Knights to guide them in battle.
Our Thoughts
As soon as the opening started with its transforming heroes and lovingly depicted weapon cards, I realised this must be based on a mobile game. Indeed, this is based on a free-to-play gacha from Korean developer Netmarble. Even before I was able to confirm this, Hero Successor failed to draw me in, eschewing details on the nature of its world in lieu of a glamourised marketing push for its source material. What's here is incredibly slight, and likely to be of little interest to anyone who isn't deep into this game.
Who It's For
Seven Knights whales, I guess.

Sawamura Setsu mourns the death of his grandfather Matsugorou, a talented shamisen player who refused to pass his secrets on. Not knowing what else to do, he leaves his remote village for Tokyo, taking nothing but his shamisen along with him. Soon he finds himself wrapped up in the complicated life of aspiring actress Yuna and her scuzzy rockstar boyfriend Taketo. When Setsu opens for Taketo's band, he stuns the audience with the raw emotion of his playing. However, his heart is still tumultuous.
Our Thoughts
An entertaining first episode of a speciality music series, which is the kind of thing I have a place in my heart for. I couldn't shake the feeling of some latent misogyny that suggested the role of a woman is to inspire a tortured artist, but I might be wrong. The final few minutes take a twist by introducing Setsu's weird, horny mother who seems to have her own personal SWAT team, and it looks like the series becomes a more conventional high school anime from episode 2 onwards. Don't know about that!
Who It's For

Tokyo Revengers
Show Link
The Lowdown
Former delinquent Takemichi is unsatisfied with the way his life turned out, living alone in a paper-thin apartment and working a minimum wage job under a boss who doesn't respect him. When watching the news one evening, he learns that his highschool sweetheart Hinata was killed, alongside her little brother. On the way to work the next morning, Takemichi falls in front of an oncoming train and wakes up 12 years in the past. Armed with foreknowledge, he attempts to turn his life around and save his onetime lover.
Our Thoughts
This is drawing from a lot of sources; the whole train sequence is lifted straight from Gantz, while the story itself initially seems like a Life on Mars kind of deal. In fact, Tokyo Revengers sees Takemichi jump back and forth between the present and the past, seemingly making small changes until he achieves his desired outcome. It feels like a very video gamey depiction of time travel, and one that's not super interesting.
Who It's For
Steins;Gate fans, maybe? Delinquent manga (Shonan Junai Gumi, Crows, etc.) fans, maybe? It's pretty self-serious compared to any of those.

The creature treks back through the tundra where it meets a boy living alone, after the rest of his village left in search of a better life. The boy recognises the wolf as his beloved pet, Johann, and the two begin living together in the harsh, lonely wastes.
Our Thoughts
I'm being a little coy with the synopsis here, and there's a major shake-up at the end of this debut episode. This one's based on a manga by the critically acclaimed Yoshitoki Ooima (A Silent Voice), and it's a depressing, compelling, and exciting start to a series. Lots of potential here!

Fate and Phantasms #178
Tumblr media
Today on Fate and Phantasms we’re building the beach’s demon king of the sixth heaven, Oda Nobunaga (Berserker)! This extra spicy Nobu is a Swords Bard to make her axe a little more literal while still grabbing the freaking spaceship we need to build, a Four Elements Monk to grab that giant flaming skeleton, and just a bit of Fighter for high-speed guitar skills that would make Hellshake Yano weep with jealousy.
Check out her build breakdown here, or her character sheet over here!
Next up: Team Tyrannical Shooting Star... again.
Race and Background
Nobu is still a Variant Human, giving her +1 Wisdom and Charisma. The Deception proficiency she gets is also super useful for your fool’s tactics, as is the Mobile feat, which gives you an extra 10′ of movement each move action, and you can escape from enemies you’ve attacked this turn without dealing with their attacks of opportunity.
She gets the Entertainer background this time though so she can rock out on the beach with proficiency in Acrobatics and Performance.
Ability Scores
Nobu’s Charisma is top notch, which isn’t surprising. She really knows how to make an entrance. After that is Dexterity, because playing a guitar is hard, but playing one with a chainsaw attached is even harder. The fact you still have both hands is tribute to your skills. Your Dexterity is next, your primary fuel for that fire is... you. A lesser servant would already be charcoal by now. Your Wisdom isn’t terrible, though that’s mostly for multiclassing. Your Strength’s a bit low, but your weapon’s damage comes from being a chainsaw more than you swinging it. Finally, dump Intelligence. You’re still Nobu, and you’re also a berserker this time around.
Class Levels
1. Fighter 1: We’re starting off as a fighter mostly for the weapon proficiencies, but the extra HP and concentration buff doesn’t hurt either. You get proficiency with Strength and Constitution saves, as well as two skills- Insight will help make you a lot smarter than you look, and Intimidation is just really easy when you have a giant flaming skeleton backup singer.
You also get a Fighting Style, so grab Superior Technique to throw out a Distracting Strike once per short rest. When you hit a target with a distracting strike, you’ll deal more damage, and the next non-you creature to target it gets advantage.
You also get a Second Wind you can use as a bonus action once per short rest for a bit of healing. This isn’t even the last healing thing you get- I don’t know why you’ve got Garden of Avalon attached to a skill, and honestly I don’t care. It’s awesome.
2. Monk 1: One thing fighter doesn’t have going for it is the ability to duke it out in a T-shirt. Monk fixes that handily with Unarmored Defense, giving you an AC based on your Dexterity and Wisdom. It’s... not a huge boost, but it’s something?
Even better, you get Martial Arts, so now you can use your dexterity instead of strength to attack with your monk weapons. A guitar/cd player/chainsaw isn’t a monk weapon yet, but at least your punches will land.
3. Monk 2: At second level, monks can use their Ki for all sorts of things on their bonus action- dash, disengage, dodge, or attack twice as a bonus action, by spending ki points! You get Monk Level ki points per short rest. You also get Unarmored Movement, making you even faster while not wearing any kind of armor.
Most importantly, you can turn your axe into a Dedicated Weapon over a long rest, turning any non-two handed or heavy weapon into a monk weapon. Battleaxes are versatile, not two-handed, so now you’ve got an axe-sized axe that you can really use. And it only took three levels!
4. Fighter 2: We’re popping back to fighter one last time for Action Surge, giving you a second action on a turn once per short rest. I don’t know what qualifies as a “sick guitar solo” in D&D, but I hope playing twice within the same six seconds counts.
5. Bard 1: Now that you’ve got your speed up, your music should be a bit more magical. First level  bards can use Bardic Inspiration as a bonus action, giving your allies a d6 to use on an attack, check, or save. You get Charisma Modifier inspiration dice to hand out per long rest. You also learn a couple Spells that will put your high Charisma to use.
Grab Vicious Mockery and Bane to throw people off their game, and Prestidigitation so you can do whatever you want to with minor magical effects. You also get Heroism and Cure Wounds for more party support, Faerie Fire for just a touch of flame right off the bat.
You also get one more skill proficiency, so grab History. You’re not an academic, but you are a historical figure.
6. Bard 2: Second level bards are Jacks of All Trades, adding half their proficiency to checks you’re not proficient with. You also get a Song of Rest, adding a d6 to healing done over short rests. We’re still a ways away from your giant flaming skeleton, but for now you can use Silent Image so it looks like you have one.
7. Bard 3: We debated a lot between making you a Swords bard or a Valor bard, but in the end the former won out so you can make your weapon your casting implement. Thanks to your new Dueling fighting style, you can play the axe one-handed just as well as you do with two hands, and you also get Blade Flourishes using your Inspiration. When you take the attack action, your movement increases by 10′, and you can spend an inspiration die to deal extra damage and get another effect. A Defensive Flourish adds the roll to your AC for a round, a Slashing Flourish deals the extra damage to nearby creatures as well, and the Mobile Flourish pushes the creature away, and you can use your reaction to follow them.
You get Expertise in Performance and Deception, doubling your proficiency bonus in those checks. You also learn the second level spell Heat Metal. Real fire? In a fire-themed character build? Wild!
8. Bard 4: Use your first Ability Score Improvement to bump up your Dexterity for higher AC and better attacks. You can also use Minor Illusion for those times you want a fire skeleton, but you can’t waste a spell slot. If you want another second level spell, use Pyrotechnics to make, well, pyrotechnics. You can put out a small area of existing fire, and/or you can create Fireworks or Smoke from that area. The former forces a constitution save (DC 8 + Proficiency + charisma mod) on nearby creatures or they’re blinded for a round, and the latter creates a smoke cloud that creates a heavily obscured area for up to a minute.
9. Monk 3: Now that we’ve got a good lineup of music set to go, let’s finally get the skeleton. As a Four Elements monk, you’re a Disciple of the Elements, giving you two Elemental Disciplines. Elemental Attunement is mandatory, and it gives you several small effects, including the ability to create small fires as an action. More importantly, you can spend a ki point to turn your arms into Fangs of the Fire Snake, making your unarmed attacks deal fire damage for the turn, and your reach increases by 10′ for the turn. On top of that, you can spend even more ki points to deal more damage with each hit. They don’t specify the attacks are coming from a giant skeleton, but I’m pretty sure that’s an oversight.
You can also use your reaction to Deflect Missiles and reduce incoming damage from arrows. If you reduce it to zero, you can throw it back. Yeah, it’s okay. I’m still thinking about the fire skeleton though.
10. Monk 4: The ASIs are coming hard and heavy right now, so bump up your Dexterity for better armor and attacks. You also get to Slow Fall as a reaction, so jumping out a building isn’t quite as stupid an idea for you.
11. Monk 5: Fifth level monks get an Extra Attack for more punches each action. That means you’ve got two in a normal turn, three with martial arts, four with flurry of blows, and six with an Action surge. You also get to turn those punches into Stunning Strikes, forcing a constitution save on the target to avoid getting stunned for a round. That save’s based on your wisdom though, so don’t expect miracles.
12. Bard 5: Bouncing back to bard real quick makes your Bardic Inspiration stronger, turning all those dice into d8s. That buffs your flourish power, and your party support. As a bonus, you become a Font of Inspiration, so those dice recharge on short rests too!
Really this is just a banner level for you, since with third level spells you can also grab Major Image to create a really big skeleton that actually feels hot!
13. Bard 6: Sixth level bards get pretty much nothing, ‘cause your extra attack doesn’t stack. You also get a Countercharm, I guess. Spend your action to give advantage to allies dealing with Fear and Charm effects.
If you want to do that and still be useful, spend a minute to give your allies a Motivational Speech -er, concert- to give them temporary HP and advantage on wisdom saves. If they’re hit by an attack, they also get advantage on their next attack too. The spell ends for everyone after an hour, or for a creature after their temporary HP is destroyed.
14. Bard 7: Seventh level bards get fourth level spells, like Hallucinatory Terrain. I know nobuserker won’t get the ability to set fields on fire for a while, but futureproofing is a good habit to get into.
15. Monk 6: Hopping back over to monk real quick for some Ki-Empowered Strikes, making your fists magical for overcoming resistance. You also get one more Elemental Discipline, and Sweeping Cinder Strike gives you Burning Hands for the low low cost of 2 ki points per cast. You can also spend an extra ki point to upcharge it, but honestly that’s more trouble than it’s worth.
16. Bard 8: Another ASI! Use this one to power up your Charisma for stronger heals, stronger spells, and more inspiration. You can also cast Phantasmal Killer so Skelly can go kill people on his own.
17. Bard 9: Your Song of Rest grows to a d8 as well, for sicker riffs while you’re jamming. You can also Animate Objects, so now you can really put the “chain” back in your chainsaw and go scooting around.
18. Bard 10: Your Bardic Inspiration grows one last time to a d10, and you get Magical Secrets, two spells from any class. (You also get a cantrip, so.. True Strike, why not.)
You also learn the spell Find Greater Steed so you can ride in style in your own customizable rocket. I’d recommend a Griffon, but anything with a flying speed is good. You also get Haste to make that griffon more rocket-y, doubling a target creature’s speed, giving it an extra action, advantage on dex saves and checks, and it’s AC goes up by 2. You’ll have to let the engines cool afterwards though, it’ll have to take a turn off once the spell ends. Also, make sure you keep that thing low to the ground, unless you want to get pancaked by Ishtar.
Also, more Expertise. Perfect your atsumori with Acrobatics and your cool poses with Intimidation.
19. Monk 7: It took a while to get here, but you finally get Evasion! Now your dexterity saves are super good, with failures only dealing half damage and successes avoiding all damage! You also get a Stillness of Mind that lets you end charming and frightening effects on yourself. Madness enhancement is one hell of a drug.
20. Monk 8: Your capstone level is one last ASI, and if you made it this far you deserve a pat on the back. And also the Tough feat for 40 extra HP.
Pros:
With support from your fighting techniques and bard spells plus damage from your monk stuff, you’ve got a lot of variety, so you can fill out any niche your party doesn’t have covered.
Being a mobile monk means you’re fast as hell and hard to retaliate against, making you perfect at hit and run tactics. Use that action surge for a burst of activity, then run off before anyone knows what happened.
Despite being a berserker you have a lot of support options and can fit a lot of roles, from preventing status effects with countercharm & motivational speech to healing with cure wounds to weakening enemies with vicious mockery, bane, and distracting strikes.
Cons:
A less generous person might say this build is too Cluttered. You’ve got inspiration and martial arts fighting for your bonus action, and while you can do many things, there are more dedicated builds that do them better.
This is in part due to limited resources for your best abilities, mostly tied to short rests. With limited action surges, distracting strikes, flourishes, and fire snake fangs, you’ve got a short fuse, and it’ll take work to make sure you don’t burn out before the fighting’s over.
Your ability scores are similarly spread out in all directions, with your wisdom being the big loser. This means that if you can’t outrun someone you’ll be an easy target with an AC of only 15, and your monk abilities like Sweeping Cinder Strike and Stunning Strike aren’t nearly as useful as they should be.

Autistic Hiccup x ADHD Anna Headcanons
SO I’ve been really into the whole Autistic x ADHD ship dynamic and Hiccanna...highkey fits??? Like y’all know I will die on my “Anna has ADHD” hill, but after reading this post by @hobie-brown I’m like wait, the autistic Hiccup headcanon is wonderful too??? And blends SO WELL with ADHD Anna??? And I absolutely HAD to explore it more so BOOM headcanon time! Another special thanks to @hobie-brown for writing the super lovely autistic Hiccup headcanon masterpost that inspired me to do this!
Disclaimer: I myself am not on the spectrum (part of the reason I’ve always felt a little weird about definitively HCing characters as autistic unless I see actual autistic people HC them that way too), so most of the stuff here is stuff I know secondhand from my autistic friends! I do have ADHD, so I can always promise that ADHD Anna will be 100% authentic XD
~Anna absolutely gets into Hiccup’s special interests to try and impress him. The most obvious one being, of course, dragons, but also dinosaurs (extinct dragons), lizards (tiny dragons), and Dungeons and Dragons (An RPG game that does, in fact, include dragons). Hiccup absolutely had that dragonology book as a kid and got obsessed with it beyond all reasonability. Hilariously, Anna’s wooing strategy of indulging his special interests works like a charm--mainly because a) he’s pretty flattered that someone takes THAT much of an interest in what he likes and b) half the time, ANNA finds that she genuinely gets into whatever said special interest is and finds them easy to hyperfixate on. It helps that the more she obsesses over it herself, the more she has to talk to Hiccup about XD
~Specifically, Anna definitely joins a DnD campaign at some point so that Hiccup will think she’s a “cool gamer girl”--and then gets unironically obsessed with it and starts writing 10-page backstories for all of her characters. She later tells Hiccup it started out as a ruse to win his heart via nerdiness, and he absolutely loses his shit laughing.
~One of their overlapping special interests/hyperfixations is high fantasy. Hiccup is, unsurprisingly, all about the mythical creatures while Anna is more into the magic and the zesty political drama, but you dun best believe they catch every CGI-ridden fantasy movie that ever comes out. They’ve both spent a literal fortune on fantasy movie tickets, even moreso on watching them in 3D or Imax. How embarrassing for both of them.
~Another less-obvious overlapping interest is history. Hiccup gets into it while looking into the cultural mythos of dragons (he’s pretty fascinated by the fact that so many cultures around the world thought up similar creatures independently), while Anna gets into it because she grew up cooped up bored and lonely in a big house, and entertained herself by looking into the history behind some of the family paintings. They don’t seem it at first, but they’re actually both huge medieval and ancient civilization history buffs.
~Hiccup is THE most touch-repulsed person you will ever meet. This is unfortunate, as he is also SUPER touch-starved and absolutely does not realize it (I mean, I’ve never gotten the vibe Stoic was the super huggy type, considering his and Hicc’s relationship in HTTYD 1). This means he has absolutely no fucking clue what to make of Anna when they first meet meet. Anna’s the sort of person to give physical affection pretty freely, especially if she likes you--usually in the form of hugs, arm pats or playful swats, putting her elbow on your shoulder, etc etc. Hiccup is kinda just like “this is way too much touching but like??? I kinda like having her this close to me??? What do???”
~Anna, meanwhile, notices that Hiccup kinda stiffens up whenever she touches him and seems to not be crazy about it and she’s just immediately like “yo what’s wrong???” And as SOON as he admits he’s not all that crazy about being touched randomly she’s like “OH MY GOD I AM SO SORRY” and never touches him without asking again.
~As soon as she finds out touch a kind of A Whole Thing for him, Anna is like...AGGRESSIVELY respectful of Hiccup’s boundaries when it comes to physical affection. Almost annoyingly so. She gets in the habit of basically never initiating any kind of physical touch without asking first--even long after they’ve started dating, and he’s told her it’s okay to initiate touching as long as she’s not smothery about it. She still refuses out of principle.
~They come up with a kind of “consent language” so Anna can pretty quickly determine when it’s all right to touch Hiccup--because Anna still really likes being physically affectionate with him, and he does actually like receiving physical affection a lot of the time (because, again, touch-starved), he’s just choosy about who does it. They work out a system based off of small, light touches that Hiccup doesn’t mind where it’s basically 2 taps on his shoulder for “can I hug you around the neck,” 2 taps on his side for “can I hug you around the waist,” 2 taps on his arm for “can I grab/lightly slap/punch your arm,” and 1 tap on is shoulder for “can I put my arm/elbow on your shoulder.” If he’s cool with it he’ll either nod or just say “yeah go ahead.” It works a lot quicker than asking “can I do such-and-such specific touch” every single time, and allows Anna to keep some of her spontaneity. They develop this during their friendship and it ends up rolling over into their relationship, even after Hiccup has basically told her she doesn’t need to ask permission for a lot of these anymore. She adds a new one after they start dating--she taps him a couple times wherever she wants to kiss him to ask if it’s cool to give him a smooch! It usually is.
~INFODUMPING. Literally SO. MUCH. INFODUMPING. Hiccup absolutely WILL NOT SHUT UP when he gets to talking about one of his special interests. Anna just will not shut up in general, but when the topic changes to one of her hyperfixations, it’s even worse. If you try to have a conversation with these two while they’re infodumping, you WILL get talked over. Honestly, left to their own devices, they could probably infodump to each other for literal days on end.
~Despite how much they both like to infodump, they’re both pretty good about being patient and indulging the other when it’s their partner’s turn to infodump in the conversation XD They are, however, notorious about accidentally triggering a barely-related infodump in the other person. It’s not uncommon for one of them to finish a rant and then the other goes “OH THAT REMINDS ME” and sets off on a completely different, barely-related rant.
~Hiccup actually really appreciates how overexpressive--and occasionally overdramatic--Anna tends to be. He never has to try and figure out what she’s thinking because she just says everything in her brain, and her body language basically always matches how she’s feeling to a ridiculous extent, so he never has to give himself a headache trying to read her. The fact that she’s the opposite of subtle and has no filter whatsoever works great for him, because he doesn’t have to drive himself insane trying to understand her. He gets her better than he gets most people because she’s an open goddamn book. The boy’s never been the best with social cues at all, never mind the nuanced, obscure ones, so Anna’s general straightforwardness and utter inability to hide her true feelings at literally any time is a breath of fresh air. What you see is basically what you get, and Hiccup wouldn’t have it any other way.
~People think when Anna and Hiccup start dating it’s gonna be a disaster, mainly because he’s so blunt and she can be...”oversensitive” (i.e. has a REALLY bad case of RSD). Turns out they’re dead wrong--because Hiccup has RSD too! (I mean, come ON--look how BADLY he wants to get his village’s approval! And how hard he takes it when his dad or someone else is mad at him--even if he tries to hide it with snark) He’s actually one of the few people who can be blunt enough with Anna that she realizes when she’s being a dumbass but tactful enough not to hurt her feelings or set off her RSD--because god, has he been there. When Anna is being especially difficult and has worked herself into a real bad funk, Hiccup (and sometimes Elsa) is the only people who can talk to her and get through to her without getting blown up at.
~They stim in similar ways!!! They both tend to fidget or kinda bounce up in down in place as a way to comfort themselves and calm themselves down (I see them both having a lot of anxiety and generally being kind of paranoid, although Anna is MUCH better at hiding this via putting on a cheerful face). They both do the leg bounce!!! Also if they get SUPER excited they’ll do a little awkward happy dance!!! They both also tend to stim by rubbing things in small, repetitive motions--with Hiccup, it’s usually his sketching pens, his ear, his head, or the back of his neck, while with Anna, it’s usually her other hand, her arm, her clothes, or really anything with kind of a comforting, consistent texture (some favorites are rubber, felt, and velvet). After they start dating, they actually will stim with each other’s hands while holding hands--usually by squeezing the other person’s hand in kind of a repetitive pattern or doing the thumb-rub thing on the back of the other person’s hand. It’s not uncommon for them to each be doing something completely unrelated while holding hands and just stimming on each other’s hands the entire time. Anna especially really loves when she feels Hiccup stimming on her, because it’s her little indicator that he’s happy and feels at peace and content in her presence and she LOVES being able to do that for him!
~They both stim by playing with hair too! Anna likes to play with her own to stim--mainly by figeting with the end of her braids or tucking hair behind her ear. She DOES love to ruffle Hiccup’s hair too (and she LOVES how fluffy it is!), but it’s usually not a stim thing. After they start dating, Anna does occasionally stim by massaging Hiccup’s hair/scalp, but she doesn’t usually do it for very long. Hiccup really loves braiding Anna’s hair, or just playing with it when it’s down. it helps him relax and clear his mind to have something fairly repetitive and/or mindless to do.
~Even after gaining some confidence, Hiccup still has a fair bit of social anxiety, so he and Anna basically always go to parties and social events together and stick with each other the whole time to make it less intimidating for him. Hiccup generally prefers to let Anna do the talking when they chat with people, and sometimes if he’s REALLY nervous he’ll sometimes even let her kinda talk for him (not in a condescending “speaking over” kinda way, but more in like a “I can sense you’re not comfortable speaking here so I’ll help you out as best I can” kinda way). She always makes sure to leave space in the conversation for him to take over talking if he wants. She’s also incredibly prone to bragging about his accomplishments to basically everyone they know. Hiccup is both embarrassed and flattered by this.
~When Anna finds out about meltdowns (probably through Hiccup mentioning it kind of offhandedly--“Eh, sorry I went AWOL last night, I was having a bit of a meltdown. Don’t worry about it, I’m fine now.”) she lowkey gets super anxious and frustrated because she REALLY wants to help, but has no idea how. Cue literal HOURS of research on the internet and AGGRESSIVE memorizing of any and all tips that she reads that she thinks would help. Which, of course, means several MORE hours spent going over flashcards like she’s studying for a goddamn test, because Anna has never been known for her sharp, expansive memory.
~The first time Hiccup ever has a meltdown in front of her (maybe after a really bad phone fight with his dad or something? Just general sensory overload?), she takes him to a secluded room and IMMEDIATELY gets rid of anything that could be agitating sensory-wise. She dims the lights! She closes the blinds! She throws a nearby clock, an alarm, a timer, and several other objects with only the slightest potential of making an annoying noise out of a nearby window in a fit of passion! She goes on a frenzied quest to find Hiccup’s noise-cancelling headphones--and finishes it in record time! Even in a state of emotional turmoil, Hiccup realizes that Anna’s being just a little too methodical in how she goes about all this--these are the kind of things that wouldn’t ever occur naturally to her to do. So as soon as he calms down a bit and has screamed into a pillow for a while, he’s like “...did you go on the internet to look up how to help with meltdowns?” and Anna’s like “...yes?” And Hiccup is lowkey so touched he starts crying all over again...and then, naturally, makes a long string of snarky comments to try and distract from it XD
~For their anniversary Anna saves up a bunch and buys Hiccup a lizard and a terrarium!!! She gets him a crocodile skink because, I quote, “Well, they always look annoyed, they’re kinda shy, they don’t like to be touched, and they look like tiny dragons, so they reminded me of you!!!” Hiccup screams like a goddamn fangirl, he’s SO excited. As luck would have it, Hiccup’s crocodile skink is a lot less skittish and prone to hiding than they usually are, and he actually lets Hiccup pick him up and pet him without much issue. Which is honestly great, because repeatedly touching something smooth and even like lizard scales helps calm Hiccup down when he’s agitated and helps with some of his sensory issues.
~Probably goes without saying, but Hiccup basically NEVER genuinely gives Anna a hard time about her memory problems or how she’s not always the quickest on the uptake, and if anyone tries to call her annoying, dumb, or immature he will absolutely roast them into oblivion. He does sometimes like...lightly tease her about jumping into things without thinking or never shutting up, but he never pushes it if he can tell she’s genuinely bothered by it (and, again, Anna is very easy to read, so it’s not hard to tell XD)
~I’ve seen other people in the fandom HC either Hiccup, Anna, or both of them as BOTH autistic and ADHD, and honestly...fuck yes!!! I’m down for this too! I love the idea of these two disaster ND kids just vibing with each other on so many damn levels that it’s like...incomprehensible to the average human XD Like man, they fuckin GET each other!!! I’m pretty happy with most combinations of ADHD + Autistic headcanons for Anna and Hiccup, so long as they end up vibing!!!
~THEY JUST. THEY LOVE EACH OTHER. SO MUCH. THEY LITERALLY WOULD DIE FOR EACH OTHER. I AM SURE OF IT. I’M CRYING.
