Do you think that the gaang atla movie might make casual fans realize bryke are not the best writers? Like Everywhere they get praised but honestly if the writing in the movie is at the levels of the comics I could maybe see ppl turn on them a bit ( it also sucks bc I doubt katara and zuko will even interact in the movie)

Hi anon! I think people will almost certainly be disappointed in the new Avatar Studios movie, because nothing has even come close to the quality of ATLA after the original show ended. However, from what I’ve observed in the fandom, there’s always someone other than Bryke to blame. For example, when people rag on Korra, they blame Nickelodeon. When they rag on the comics, they blame Gene Yang (and incidentally I’ve actually seen a K/ataang shipper say that the reason the comics are so bad is because Gene Yang is a Zutara shipper — as if a grown ass professional would compromise his contract / reputation for a ship war). And when they rag on the first live action movie, they rag on M. Night. I’m not saying that Bryke are completely at fault for the shortcomings for these projects — collaborative creative pursuits are wonderful, magical things and it’s hard to know where credit and blame go when the whole point is that collaboration is beyond the sum of its parts — but the bottom line is that when certain fans are hellbent on not blaming Bryke, there are always other scapegoats.

I’m friends with many casual fans, and they were the ones who got me into the show. Honestly, I don’t think they even gave a second thought to Bryke until they left the Netflix production, which is convenient because now people can credit Bryke for the ingenuity of ATLA and blame Netflix for driving them away. I’m not sure casual fans will turn on Bryke for making a mediocre movie…BUT: if Zuko undergoes a character regression similar to his comics arc, people will probably get mad. Zuko’s redemption arc is widely considered one of the best on TV. You cannot find a Reddit thread about “best redemption arcs of all time” without Zuko being one of the top answers. From Bryke’s interviews, it kind of feels like they don’t really understand his appeal, and if they butcher his character in the absence of writers who got him more…well, I think people will be real mad about that. I mean, people got so mad about NATLA Katara, and she’s nowhere near as beloved as Zuko b/c misogyny and racism and many people found her annoying but that’s a whole other thing

And on a related note, I agree that Katara and Zuko will probably barely interact in the new movie, and it will seem kind of stilted and awkward. I remember an interview with Aaron Ehasz where he said that he’s not really a shipper and he doesn’t write stories with shipping in mind: what matters more is letting the narrative drive itself. That POV, undoubtedly shared by others in the writers’ room (including MVP Elizabeth Welch), is what was responsible for the development of the Katara - Zuko friendship in the original show in the first place. It’s very, very stifling to prioritize a ship war over the actual story. Antis claim Zutara shippers create convoluted fanfic plots where other characters and relationships are downplayed in favour of their ship, but that’s exactly what happens in the canon comics wrt K/ataang. I don’t know if it’ll seem so transparent to the casual viewer, but even if the motivations aren’t obvious, the decline in quality sure will be. For the sake of my love for all Gaang-related shenanigans I hope Bryke won’t go down that road for the new movie, but…well, they’ve done pettier things.

might be a bit of a controversial take? But imo I feel like antis who are either poc or black seemingly make the color of their skin the only redeeming quality of themselves, or just want EVERYTHING to revolve around that

Someone’s OC or anime character is not black? Let’s edit them into a black character! And mind you I have absolutely nothing against black edits. I even agree, black people are unfairly underrepresented in games/anime and this has only recently become a little bit better

but the edits I saw were mostly poorly done or gave the characters blurry oversized Afros that cover 90% of the face and colors that will clash with everything else going on, like backgrounds. Or they would “fix” someone’s art and then claim desaturated art pieces or pastel color palettes were “whitewashing”

Whitewashing is a serious problem that happens and shouldn’t happen so often in media but I’m begging people to understand that lighting, pastel and saturation as color options exist

That and folks nitpick every piece of poc art but then get mad when artists start only drawing white characters because they're sick of the nitpicking. Personally, I just don't post original human characters anymore because you can do everything right and folks will still pitch a fit.

Also, fixing art is literally art theft and people who 'fix' art without permission from the artists are scum. I will die on this hill.

1: childhood. coping mechanisms, emotions, relationships, and so many other countless things are originated from our childhood experiences. show us how kai took charge, how he reacted when his parents left. did he break down crying, suck it up and get himself together for nyas sake? did his fear of being useless and his habit of undervaluing himself originate from the fact his parents had left him? I want to see kai move on as a child and yet stumble and fall at the same time. i wanna see the unresolved trauma please because we all know our boy has lots of that

2: green ninja. what’s wrong writers?? are you afraid to tell us his true motives for him wanting to be the green ninja? it’s because his constant fear of being worthless leaded to his wanting to be the green ninja? was he scared he couldn’t be able to protect those he loved? did he want to be green ninja out of fear of being undervalued and left behind by the team, like his parents left him behind? so many question so little answers

3: bravery through love. kai canonically represents bravery, but the ninjago short only presented this bravery through physical action. kai is one of the bravest in another act as well: love. kai’s continuation of love and care toward the team and kids in general has been shown time and time again in the show. physically affectionate, supportive, understanding, and caring to each ninja individually is literally kai’s thing. he readily loved his parents even though they ‘abandoned them’ long ago, when nya was not brave enough to (valid, btw). he is very vocal on how much he loves people, especially nya and lloyd. he loves kids and animals alike (making friends with dragons, naturally affectionate with kids). he wholeheartedly loves people despite the fear of not being loved back, and despite his childhood trauma, and i think thats the best and most beautiful kind of bravery. and i think if the show points this quality out for those who cannot see it, it would contribute so much to his character. kai is such a loving person he loves everyone i think i might cry

Honestly, i see a lot of the "critical of mainstream media" people who complain about Disney and big studio movies and stuff... continue to not watch anything more indie or small, just hype up stuff by other big studios as ultra counterculture stuff.

Like when the Mario movie was coming out and people were saying stuff on twitter like: "oh, the critics are being harsh because it's japanese and smaller than Pixar, boohoo." (Even ignoring how it's a NINTENDO adaptation, Illumination is pretty much the second highest grossing animated studio in the USA i think. People forget how much money those Minions movies made!) Or people presenting the Barbie movie as something ultra counterculture against disney instead of a just a big brand movie that will be funny and sassy but probably not be the deepest thing ever.

I'm not even presenting myself as a person that is all that better than them, i love cartoons and anime but haven't watched in full a lot of stuff that isn't very popular, but i also don't complain about all mainstream media in social media every day

Do these people really think that studios would get someone who worked on fucking Thor: Love and Thunder (or whatever the fuck that shit was called, I haven't watched an MCU movie since the original Thor) if people didn't keep fucking WATCHING that shit?!

If you want to change the schism in mainstream media, start celebrating the portions that do what you want. Start talking about the Cabinet of Curiosities', the A24 productions, the Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire's... Stop watching and hate-watching all of these shitty remakes of things.

Because, I hate to say it! Especially on a site like this one! But money! Talks! And you're already in the deficit with so many studios catering to foreign markets, so if you're just the type to say 'well, shit already sucks; why bother' Then please do not talk to me! Okay, serious question professional critics have been and will be debating for decades to come, but I'm sure you know better than them: Are games art? This is not question of quality-most art in all forms sucks-the argument how we define art and its purpose, function. Some argue games themselves aren't, but may contain art within them. That in a narrative driven game, the story may be art, but that's seperate from the game itself. Would a puzzle count as art? Would Solitaire? A slot machine?

I keep trying to answer this question and then I keep putting it off cause I want to get it perfect and then it inevitably gets lost and I never respond so lets just go for it. Yes, Videos games are art, if we can identify any medium as art. The only arguments I can see that would deny video games as an art form would also dismiss Film as an art form. Now there are many differnet ways that a Video Game can be art, its a very multi facaded medium, but a few include

Story, the obvious one. Disco Elysium, Planescape Torment, the Baldur's Gate Series, Fallout New Vegas, the Witcher Series, Dragon Age, I have no Mouth and I must Scream, Legacy of Kaine, Undertale, God of War, are all good examples of this. (I like RPGS)

Mixing Mechanics and Story- Portal, Silent Hill 2, Bioshock, Deux Ex, Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2, Walking Dead, all of these are examples of narrative and story being mered on a fundemental level. The Soulsbourn Games by fromsoft do a really good job of illustrating some very buddhist themes in there mechanics.

Pushing the medium forward. Resident Evil 4 is a fucking stupid game but its incredible genre invovations and the fact its fun as fuck pushed the entire medium forward. Same with Dead Space, Half Life (which is also you now..good), Monkey Island,

Mechanics as a way of viewing systems, or to have a vibe. Mechanics can be used to make you understand the world different from a system level, Paper's Please is a great example of this, a lot of Civlization Games or TTRPGS do this, Far Cry tries to do this. Resident Evil 2 Remake really does capture a sort of panic which is very impressive, Princeo of Persia, the original Thief Games, Sympathy of the Night

Video games as expression. This Dragon Cancer, No More Heroes, Braid, Even Postal, an uttelry vile game does express a certain Alt Right attitude (fuck garbage)

Video games as system design, just the brilliance of seeing a bunch of systems override together.

Mood Pieces. The Zelda games are masters of this, but also Shadow of the Collosius,

Purely mechanical Design. Doom is a great example of this, but Missile Command, even tetris has a lot of soviet aethetics in there

I think a puzzle counts as art, or has the potential to count as art, if it can change the way your mind thinks. A good puzzle doesn't just have you solve it, your brain twists around in order to change the way you view things. Like Braid requires you to like...unstuck your brain to understand the puzzles, its incredible

SO yes, games are art....but not all games are good art

What do you think of the one piece movies?

Oh boi, that's a loaded question. 😭 I will reply honestly but please remember this is my personal opinion, whatever you like it's all legit!

In general, I don't particularly care for the OP movies too much. I did see them, almost all, even enjoy some or part of them, but I'm grateful that they're non-canon. I don't hate them and I'm always happy when a new one is announced (more OP content!), but that's about it. Same goes for the special/OVAs, although they kinda stopped with those. I will only go through the movies in this post.

Movie 1 (One Piece: the Movie) and 2 (Clockwork Island Adventure) are basically like filler arcs in the early days of the anime. They are not bad, nor good. I haven't seen them in a long while but I remember being pretty neutral towards them.

Movie 3 (Chopper's Kingdom on the Island of Strange Animals) and 5 (The Cursed Holy Sword) actually SUCK. They suck so much I could hardly get to the end. The Chopper one is just a total bore with a super predictable plot, while the Zoro one is actually painful. Zoro and the crew are totally OOC, and the poorly-thought magic lore introduced in the movie just doesn't fit with the OP universe.

You'll noticed I skipped movie 4 (Dead End Adventure). And that's because this one I like. It's also like a filler arc, but it fits perfectly in the plot (love the quick reference to Navarone), it flows well, it's dynamic and engaging, and the original characters are actually good. Shout out to Shuraiya Bascùd, whose design is basically Ace in a different color palette, but has a complex personality.

Movie 6 (Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island) is a unique One Piece product, quite distant from what we're used to, and therefore I consider it a must-see. Not really for the plot, which doesn't make much sense, but for the art and the direction. In fact, it was directed by Hosoda, a very notable anime movie director (Wolf Children, The Girl who Leapt through Time, Summer Wars, Digimon...).

Movie 7 (The Giant Mechanical Soldier of Karakuri Castle)... I remember absolutely nothing of this movie except Nami's bouncing boobs.

Movie 8 (Episode of Alabasta) and 9 (Episode of Chopper plus) are revised re-tellings of the Alabasta and Drum saga. They aren't bad, especially Chopper's, some dramatic sequences are very touching. They made a great use of the soundtrack, or lacking thereof.

I will place Movie 11 (One Piece 3D: Straw Hat Chase) here because it doesn't fit with the remaining ones. This may as well be a special: it's only 30 minutes long, most of the Strawhats barely appear, it doesn't feature a villain-based adventure, and it's in a graphic format never used again. Take it as a slice-of-life episode, and it's enjoyable.

Movie 10 (Strong World) is a turning point, because this is when OP movies became "films", Oda started to get involved, some original canon elements were dropped in, and there were theatrical releases. The difference in quality (at least plot-wise) is immediately clear. Strong World is the last movie set before the timeskip (excluding movie 11), and it may well be my favorite.

Movie 12 (Z) is probably close second. The villain is a great character, and I LOVED the inclusion of Aokiji and Kizaru, how different they were, the implications they brought to the plot.

Movie 13 (Gold) is okay. Enjoyable. Once again, good villain, nice setting, good animation.

Movie 14 (Stampede) has a special place in my heart because it included the Kid Pirates, and Kid & Killer have a few scenes. Buuuut if I have to be honest, the plot is quite weak and, if you take off the (scarce) screen time of my beloved, it's a little boring.

And finally! The most recent, movie 15, Red. I haven't had the chance to watch it yet because it didn't get a theatrical release where I live, so I'm waiting for the DVD to be out. What I can say is that I've watched reviews from my two favorite OP youtubers (Tekking101 and Sawyer7mage), and they were not particularly impressed with it. My best friend also watched it and found it incredibly boring, so my hopes aren't really too high. I think they went waaaay too hard on the marketing for this one, they pushed Shanks and Uta SO MUCH. (Also it doesn't help that I'm one of the very few people that don't really care about Shanks, huh). I heard the songs and they were amazing, Ado is a masterclass singer. I read about the plot and I do think some details are quite interesting, like Uta's whole psychology and possibly the ending (?). I guess I'll have to update my opinion when I actually watch the movie.

I'm ready for Disney to go back to being Disney ANIMATION studios! I'm all for inclucivity, but you can't just do the bare minimum and claim it's good because it features minorities. Or even worse, start remaking every single thing you've already done before, just in a lackluster version. I wish these companies would see that these projects aren't doing well and change directions. Besides, you'd think they'd learn because nearly every live action remake (Disney or not) involves some sort of "scandal" with one of the actors.

Examples:

Ian Ousley (Sokka) aledgedly lying about his race.

liu yifei (Mulan) supporting Hong Kong police causing people to boycott the movie.

Rachel Zegler (Snow White) acting like she couldn’t care less about the role and having an overall entitled attitude, making people dislike it when the film hasn't even been released yet.

The list goes on. I am absolutely tired of seeing the "magic" being sucked out of everything. I feel like I grew up with some pretty good animated movies, but what is there for people nowadays. Elemental? Wish?!?!?!?

And please don't start to mention the countless different "companies/shows" Disney has bought the rights to. Really, I think that's part of their problem. They're trying so hard to keep all these different things afloat that they're all sinking. They are trying to do too many cash grabs at once, and the quality is seriously suffering.

Disney knows, or at least knew, how to make a classic romance. There's nothing wrong with that. In fact, I'd say stick to what you know until you can get going.

And another thing, I hear there's supposed to be a Moana 2! Moana isn't even that old. They're not even letting an ample amount of time pass before they start another ploy. Where are the original ideas? Because all we're getting is revisited versions of things they've already done. And isn't common knowledge by now the running joke that the majority of Disney sequels are trash?

Now for the extra controversial option. I'm over the live action race swapping of characters we've already seen. It's one thing if it's a book. Sure, I can get behind that. But it's getting to the point that they're just swapping out anyway white person with a minority girl and calling that diversity. Can we PLEASE have some more diverse main original characters?

Plus, diversity is not having one person of color and calling it a day. Diversity isn't even having a full cast of one minority. In order to be diverse, there actually has to be a group of multiple different types of people. They think they can just throw in one black people, and all of a sudden, they're so with the times.

Then you only ever see 3 different types: black people, Latinx, and Asian (typically only Japanese or Korean). But I just have to say that that is not as diverse as people make it seem. And why is it that these minorities never interact. It's either all one minority or minorities with white people. Absolutely no in between.

Then, to top it off, I want to get back to catchy songs. A good example of this was Encanto. Not only did it focus on a topic besides romance (family bonds), but it also features a minority family in which each member looks like some actual representation. That on top of the fact the music was good, made Encanto popular despite not having much marketing I'm the beginning. You go from songs like "we don't talk about Bruno" and "Surface Pressure" to.... "This is the thanks I get" from wish.

I feel like they need more people who are passionate about what they do. Even if it's not for the whole movie, just certain aspects. Lin Manuel Miranda is known for his music. Great! He's passionate about it that's one of the reasons it was so good. Who exactly wrote the songs for wish? That is the question.

Anyway... that's all I had to say. Just felt like complaining.

Hello, anon!

Are you there? Last week you asked about fics that I would like to see as real books (and also for high-quality recs), and I'm able to answer you now! I wrote a lot so it's going under the cut

Honestly I mostly rbed that post out of a brief amusement over a hypothetical bc I don't think fanfic and original stories really scratch the same itch or even draw on the same skills so I am happy to keep them separated. And if I love a work for being about wx, I don't think I'd like it if it was revamped to be about original characters. I don't think most fanfic authors (who are primarily hobbyists) have the writing skill to craft really good original fiction, and that's fine! I do know for a fact at least one writer whose fics are in my rec list IS a published author and I know that her book sucks. it has got to suck with prose like that

BUT. if there was one who DID write well enough that their work could be published. Glyphic of See You Yesterday fame I have absolute faith in. The worldbuilding, while based off canon, is complex and well-developed, the plot is drawn-out but absolutely riveting, the character work is rich enough that I can see them creating compelling original characters, and the prose is gut-wrenching. If that author released a real book with a premise I had interest in, I would buy it and expect it to be good bc that fic is so delicious and I have complete faith in their ability to create original content. and it would be a finished product so I could FINISH IT without FALLING INTO DESPAIR unlike my current relationship with syy

And yes it is in my fic rec list! Each fic has a little summary and I usually say whether it's decent quality or not, plus my favorites are starred. I'd say check out Section One for all the best wangxian stuff, but See you Yesterday's entry is in Section Four

But for specifically high-quality wx/excellent writing, here are the highlights. Please keep in mind I prefer happy endings but I do tend to gravitate towards dark content since I think it captures canon themes the best, so many of these comes with hefty trigger warnings that you can see under their entries on my rec page. empty as the sky by incendir - a casefic where wwx is transported to a universe where he still has his mother, his sister, social status, and his gc, but never fell in love with lwj. really lovely wx even tho lwj is mostly not present

*feast and famine by luckymarrow - extremely high-quality writing, including wx writing, but huge tw for sexual assault. like. that's the plot of the fic

*places under the sky by narie - lots of wwx family backstory! it hurt me so bad is all and I can never read it again

*总有一天; a place to hide (can’t find one near)* by yiqie - shaky and corny writing here and there, but overall a lovely story with some geniunely riveting passages. one of my older faves. tw for suicide attempt

*As a Shadow, As a Dream* by balmandbitterness - some creepy magic post-nghtless city keeps lwj and wwx in contact. spooky, but tender and comforting even so. and I love the ending

*somewhere they live, somewhere they multiply by perilously - spooky! let's get this married couple some therapy

the low sky, raining over by chibilwj (thelogicoftaste) - very unusual fic, this one. postcanon kidfic but the kid is maybe cursed

*Close Your Soft Eyes* by timetoboldlygo - just REALLY lovely and mature wx

Where the Lonely Ones Go by CSHfic, VSfic - really cute postcanon casefic with a haunted baby girl wx sort of adopt

From Section Two:

his hands keep turning to birds and flying away from him (him being you) by zerodignity - the first part of a series where wwx isn't cis but also doesn't have the words to describe himself. the wx in the second work in this series rules

From Section Four:

*hide fox, and all after* by blackfeather (oogenesis) - not wx, but I AM in love with the worldbuilding and I think the attention given to a tertiary character (mxy) shows a strength in original writing that you wouldn't necessarily see if someone was only writing main characters who already have personalities, backstories, etc.

*a tide in two seas by occultings (microcomets) - this one was wild

counterpart by queensmooting - similar concept to the above. also wild

*strangers on the shore by seularen - spy fic but not a bootlicking kind, just really well-researched and tense and elaborate

From Section Five:

*To Love Mountains* by HerenorThereNearnorFar - not wx, but the backstories of all the parents is SO fascinating I love you cssr

*Marital Prospects* by Vamillepudding - not particularly high-quality writing in any sense except for the fact that this author has posted some of the funniest things I have ever read and that's got to count for something. see also The Shape of Your Love (is Horny) (found in section six)

From Section Six (heed warnings abt the authors!)

*A Lot of Edges Called Perhaps* by hansbekhart - honest to god obsessed with the wx in this one

*Out of the darkness, into the day by ilip13 - a long postcanon get-together. fantastic wx

*all the depths of us* by northofallmusic (tofsla) - also great wx!

*here’s to upright men by isozyme - an nhs postcanon study

The Good That Won’t Come Out by raisedbyhyenas - postcanon wx angst/dealing with stuff. neat worldbuilding and compelling original characters

*Vagabond by xantissa - quite frankly this fic was insane to read. the wx blew my mind

*grave goods* by luckymarrow - less focused on wx and more on death and grieving. really well-done tho, and the wx IS there and important

To all of the Americans shitting on Canadians for the smoke in NYC right now or acting like we aren't suffering as much as you guys are:

We are on fucking fire. Our homes are getting burned down. We are being evacuated from the cities that we live in because we are at risk of being caught in a wildfire.

Look, I get it. The smoke in NYC is absolutely horrible. I'm not denying that or saying that we shouldn't be worrying about that. But compared to the people who have to deal with shitty air quality from smoke as well as getting their homes burned down? Why is the country that's literally on fire right now getting blamed for this?Why is the country that's having to deal with smoke AND fire not the center of attention right now? It's like you guys only started caring when it actually affected you.

You all didn't see us shitting on you when the California fires made our air quality suck. For the most part, we were more worried about the people that were made homeless, injured, or even killed by the fires. You want to know what I, a Canadian, am seeing when I literally Google "Canada wildfires?"

What a fucking sight to see, that a place with horrible air quality is taking priority over the place that's ACTUALLY ON FIRE. You think our air quality doesn't suck? You think that we don't have smoke in the air every year?

Think again.

Like sure, you can laugh about the "Ehpocalypse" memes or whatever. But at the end of the day, we are still suffering from the same air quality problems AS WELL as being evacuated from our homes due to being too close to one of the around 430 wildfires that are currently burning in Canada as I'm typing this. Out of those 430 wildfires, more than half of them are considered out of control. And you want to know what the cherry on top is?

This is just the beginning of Canada's wildfire season.

Isn't that terrifying? You have to worry about the air quality getting even worse there. I and other Canadians have to worry about that and being evacuated from our homes at any second. All. Over. The. Country. This isn't just a Quebec thing, though that's absolutely where the worst of it is. Alberta is on fire, Nova Scotia is on fire, British Columbia is on fire, Ontario is on fire, everywhere is on fire.

I get it. It sucks to have your air quality that bad. It sucks to have to breathe in smoke. Especially if you're pregnant and/or have breathing problems. I really do get it. But please, can we try and focus a little more on the people who are actually dealing with the fires?

Here's a couple ways to help:

Support The Donate A Mask Charity

Donate A Mask is a charity that ships free N95 respiratory masks to any Canadians who request them. Every $1.25 donated is another free mask for a Canadian. Though originally intended for COVID, it also serves the same purpose for the wildfires.

Support Firefighters Without Borders

These fires would be much worse if it weren't for the firefighters, both native and foreign, who are coming to try and contain all of these fires. FWB gives equipment and training to firefighters all over the country.

This is a result of climate change.

This is yet another part of climate change that we're seeing. The planet is dying and we know who's killing it. Fires are NOT usually this bad in Canada in early June. This is not a coincidence, this is not just bad luck, this is proof that every year we waste twiddling our thumbs and panicking over gay people, we're a year closer to being wiped out because the planet can't sustain life anymore.

Wake. Up.

I never got why people dissed dubs. Maybe I grew up on Anime during the early 2000s that didn't try to please network censors but I've often enjoyed dubs for series that I rewatch after a while. Seeing the differences in languages and overall translation theory fascinates me. Hell, the voice actors have my respect for making ADR sound like prelay more often than not. Some fans need to go, "To heck with it!" and give dubs a chance. Especially since those working on them aren't fairly compensated.

I mean, the topic is kinda nuanced. It's perfectly fine to prefer subs over dubs; I definitely do. It's just a preference. Not to mention that watching anime subs for years has really helped me pick up on Japanese.

That being said, I agree that people shouldn't shit on dubs and be elitists. The quality of English dubs (I can only attest to English dubs, I have no experience with dubs in other languages) has gotten very good in recent years, with most dubs being produced being at least "okay" if not "just as good if not even better than the original."

I feel like sub elitists also don't understand that dubs are also an accessibility issue. Not everyone who doesn't want to read subtitles is "lazy." There are people with things like dyslexia or other neurological processing disorders that makes reading subs and keeping up with what's happening onscreen difficult. Some people only have time to watch anime while they fold laundry or cook dinner or whatever and so having a dub on is much easier to watch. And some people are just intimidated by subtitles (after all, it is a practiced skill to be able to read subtitles and pay attention to the action going on onscreen) and so want to watch a dub where it's easier to focus.

The whole "sub vs dub" debate is stupid, I say just watch whatever works for you and respect other people's decisions. I think one thing we should all agree on, though, is that the voice actors- no matter what language- are awesome and really make the characters come to life. It really does suck that most VAs in English dubs are, like you said, not compensated fairly even though they're the ones doing so much work to sell the dub.

Going to try and give each Game 5 at most songs since I know a lot of em, I have a fnaf Spotify playlist created just for fnaf songs since I couldn’t find any long playlists that had more than 30-50 songs. If you want the link to it let me know! If anyone else posts a list I’d love to read em. Seeing recommendations for songs, especially fnaf, is always a joy for me! Number one FNAF 1 song I always turn to is Open up by Muse of Discord. God Muse’s fnaf songs are so underrated. I know they stopped making fnaf songs and even hidden the original videos due to the early fandom but god if they ever make new ones I’ll hold em so hard. I actually have listened to this song so much that I know all the lyrics to it

Second one, The Original Living tombstone Fnaf song. Gotta tip my hat towards the original, it’s always a bop (Point goes to Trickywi’s cover of said song. Her vocals are always wonderful)

3rd, Welcome to Freddy's. Another classic. I can’t leave this one out. It has all the qualities of the original fandom, the audios with the characters talking n such. Those will always hold a special place in my heart. It sucks that feel was lost as the fandom and games grew.

Number 4. Another one that I feel is under rated, Is it something out there? Like Museofdiscord I believe this song was lost to time. The soft spoken Lyrics fit perfectly

5. SharaX, Lockdown. Shara’s remixes are always a treat to listen to. And was this song another wonderful addition to their lineup. (I’m upset that most of the songs here aren’t on Spotify. Can you tell I’ve been around for a long time yet?)

Five Nights At Freddys 2

1. Mechanical Instinct, Another fnaf song that I know by heart. Other than Open up this is on my top 5 most favorite fnaf songs. It’s also what led me to finding a band that I adore the music of, Aviators! I highly recommend listening to it if you haven’t yet or need a reminder.

2. Back again by groundbreaking. What did happen to groundbreaking? I haven’t heard of anything from them in years, I hope they’re well cause they took over fnaf 2 era. (Shout out to their other fnaf songs like the mangle)

3. Sayonara Maxwell, Five Nights At Freddy's 2 song. Fun little fact, little kid me thought that this song in some parts wasn’t sung in English when it actually is. Regardless another fnaf song that I adore, showcasing the stress of how many animatronics you have to deal with in fnaf 2

4. "The Puppet" by GatoPaint, another song artist I haven’t heard anything from in years. I hope they’re doing just as well! Although it was later on disproven it doesn’t push away how fucking hard this song goes.

5. No more by giveheart records (Natewantstobattle). What did you think I would say Mangled? Although that one is a classic I gotta give my love to another song. (I’m slowly starting to realize that I have a taste as I go and write down this list. Anyways I’m still upset that we didn’t get the plush looks from this game)

1. Our Little Horror Story by Aviators, I’m sorry that I am very very biased.

2. Before by Shadrow. Another fnaf song, along with the next one, got lost to time. Time to unbury them for encore! (I am running out of things to say that I haven’t already)

3. Springtrap by Madame Macabre. Welcome back on the list!

4. It’s time to die by DAGames. A classic
