it is no doubt that gabimaru can take on multiple wives. after all, gantetsusai mentioned he has multiple wives across japan. plus their time period allows men to marry multiple women so people making this statement knows what they are saying.

HOWEVER!

I actually don't think gabimaru will engage in this sort of thing (see, I told you my opinion on this is not controversial hehe) and here's why.

we all know that osa (aka iwagakure village chief) killed gabimaru's parents and took gabimaru in, even to a point where gabimaru literally lives in the village chief's home like some sort of special treatment.

however, I think one reason gabimaru got special treatment is bcos both of his parents are high-class shinobis (like jonin level) and ofc osa saw his potential that maybe "ah this kid might inherit his parents' ninja skills or something"

plus, osa doesn't have any sons to begin with bcos surprise surprise YUI HAS NEARLY 20 HALF SISTERS with her being the eighth daughter. and accdg to Kaku-sensei, there is a major possibility of yui and gabimaru meeting as children (but alas it is hard to tell since yui has so many sisters). and yes this is all mentioned in Jigokuraku Kaitai Shinsho (pls someone translate this huhu)

so when tsuki (the toasted marshmallow gabimaru that we know) became the 58th gabimaru by killing the 57th gabimaru, he was rewarded for his skills and intellect by marrying yui. but the thing is, it's a common talk among iwagakure ninjas that osa has been looking for a successor and bcos he doesn't have a son, the only choice is to have gabimaru marry into his family (which is common in Japan)

in short: women in iwagakure are not only beaten, but also treated as baby-making factories (ofc some of them become kunoichis but most of them just become a housewife that takes care of dozen babies). doesn't matter how young or old. as long as you can get pregnant, then you go do your duty for iwagakure. hence why yui loathed this kind of set up and when she voiced out her want for normalcy, she paid the price by having her face scarred.

but what if a girl doesn't get pregnant? ahh then the guy will take another wife, get her pregnant, then process repeat and repeat. it's a cruel cycle that never ends.

in osa's case, it took him like so long before finally accepting his wives cannot give him a son. and in my own opinion, these things can influence gabimaru into not having a harem marriage in the first place. like imagine marrying multiple women just for the sake of a duty.

besides, given how bad he's down for yui, I don't think he would want another woman other than her. like srsly gabimaru has so much respect for her and having a harem marriage would defeat every single thing he and yui are fighting for.

If it's an MC, did they get to the Devildom in the usual way or were they already aware of it? How do they interact with the demons? What's their first impression upon arriving in the Devildom? OKAY I'm going to do a very very short description of him- he's m- jk

he wasn't chosen for the program at first. He was, mistakenly brought to the devildom. a tiny error lol. the original exchange student (Pari) was summoned a few minutes after and then they deal with the terrified wet injured cat™ smth smth later they decided that he will be staying too until they find a safe place for him in the human world.

he was very wary of his surroundings at the start, but slowly got more comfortable around the cast, minus Levi, Mammon and Simeon. he hates how Mammon doesn't respect his privacy and Levi makes him too overwhelmed. Simeon on the other hand? he's scary to him. kinda funny from someone who's friend is Barbatos lol

And what does Barbatos do once he figures out that Sharo has the same power as him? I mean, he's gotta be curious I bet he doesn't run into that ever.

I hope Barbatos tells him about it so that Sharo realizes the truth about what's happening. I suspect that'd be kind of a relief to finally understand why he's having those visions and things.

Barbatos realizes it pretty early in the castle tour, but keeps it hidden for the next three-four years. in that time only Diavolo, Lucifer, Simeon and Solomon knew about it.

I mean he didn't really think it was necessary for Sharo to know. it was better that he thought they were hallucinations - such power can destroy a human's brain and soul. not to mention his power was.. "illegal" (for the lack of a better word) and he was too weak at that time to fight against the higher ups.*

It is for your own good." lol I love them both, but I would understand why that difference might make him uncomfortable!

Okay okay, so knowing about his power might actually be worse than believing he was having hallucinations... I was thinking I would want to know if I was experiencing something like that and everybody made me think it was just my brain malfunctioning when really it was magic. Though if it's problematic magic, then I see why it could be better to not know! I'm still glad he figures it out though lol.

How would you fit Vex into AoA AU, given rangers, even beastmaster rangers, arent so magical? Is she soneone pushed to the fringes (esp with Syngornian bullshit) or is she smth else entirely in this AU? Or does the more whackadoo magic of the era mean she's a superpowered magical beastmaster?

So I think this applies to Vex and Vax both, and I haven't thought about their background nearly as much as I should have. Hm... Well, in canon, the Matron of Ravens was originally a follower of the god of death before usurping them, given their (I quote Matt in Duskmeadow) 'tyrannical position of death and afterlife and souls'. My take on the twins is that they were followers of this god (potentially something cultural from Elaina?), except their ritual was not constructed with the intent of taking his place but just. Fucking fixing things. Making death just, and natural, and there's something in there about thinking Elaina's death was not supposed to happen and trying to reverse it.

The thing is, neither of them are great arcane practitioners. Not even high-level divine casters - definitely nothing to rival the knowledge and skill of the Raven Queen. So I figure their ritual goes completely sideways, in a way they don't understand an can't replicate, which results in Vax becoming the new god of death (potentially vulnerable, though, given the less precise manner of his ascension) and Vex being left alone and... just through how much she loves and trusts and believes in her brother being his Champion. They don't see him as her superior, she's still his twin and is trying to unfuck this mess.

I'm working backwards to your question proper, pfft: so yes, Vex is really just a Beastmaster, like Purvan Suul is implied to be (Purvan is his own can of worms, hehe). I think Purvan being a ranger is very interesting in itself, being that the Raven Queen positions her rule over death as a more accepting one, just part of how the world works, and rangers are nothing if not attunes to nature and the balance of life and death in a human context (as opposed to druids who lean more towards nature).

I think they, and Elaina, lived in one of the grounded cities (Potentially Gau Drashari? If I want Vax and Keyleth to have known eachother before his ascension). Syldor was definitely from some flying city, or one that could be hidden, or otherwise just classic mage hubris. Took on the two bastards when he thought they might have a lick of his magical aptitude, but neither were really cut out for it.

All the flying cities and magocracies are very much beyond Vex's depth, though she tries to use what she learned from her father to survive and get what she needs. But she heavily relies on Percy for this - both of them being very low-magic in a high-magic world will be very fun to explore!

It's been three days. Fenris has been...almost entirely silent, speaking only to direct Anders - his bad knee, blind grief and uncomfortably silent Justice - away from some unforeseen trip hazard, or onto more stable footing as they make their way up into the Vimmarks. Anders doesn't know how much more silence he can take. (It's been a month by now. Surely they can't mean to keep him longer still?) Anders sets camp, taking time to set what wards he can think of: standard tripwires and anti-magic spells. Fenris does his own patrolling, though he doesn't say as much, muttering something about firewood. By the time Anders is done with his spellcraft, a small fire is already crackling in a little ring of soil-covered pebbles, snapping at the darkening sky.

Fenris gets up when Anders approaches, moving to his bedroll. Anders' voices gets caught in his throat, but he is not able to stop his hand from reaching to bridge the darkness between him and his one-time lover.

Fenris stops, and his white hair and lyrium are almost luminescent in the twilight. For a long, long moment silence stretches between them - filled only the sound of the mountains at night. The howling, mournful wind. A lone owl setting out in search of her prey. The trees, sighing their aches to the sky.

"What is it?" Fenris isn't looking at him. Hasn't done since -

Anders' voice is still trapped in his throat. His fingers curl, aching a little over where they were broken once (more than once, a long time ago). He shakes his head, looks down at his feet. "No, sorry, it's nothing."

Fenris lets out a sigh, explosive in the quiet, and steps closer. Anders watches his bare feet tread through the grass and scree, always amazed at how quietly he manages to move - even up here, where the ground crunches its discomfort at every footstep.

"Is something wrong, mage?"

"You used to call me Anders." He speaks without thinking, and regrets it when he does, watching a muscle in the corn of Fenris jaw twitch as he presses his lips tightly shut and slowly uncurls his gauntleted fingers at his sides. Anders' mouth as he breathes is full of the taste of woodsmoke.

Fenris shakes his head, and there's half an angry smile on his face when he lifts his eyes to meet Anders' gaze for the first time in - Maker, how long has it been?

Fenris' eyes are brilliant as emeralds in the dark, and they glitter with a tired kind of humour. "What do you want of me, m-," He stops, sighs, bares his teeth. "Anders"

"I- nothing." It's so cold.

Fenris looks away from him, down toward the tree covered slopes, shrouded in evergreens like a skirt billowing in ripples around the mountains. "I do not know what else I can give you." When he speaks, Fenris does so quietly.

"I never -"

"You did!" Fenris' voice echoes off the mountain slopes, and his chest heaves with the speed of his breath. Anders cringes, and Fenris leans away from him like an archer's bow releasing. "You never stopped. You never stopped asking for everything, from all of us, until finally you asked so much that -" Fenris stops, bites off the end of the sentence, and turns away from Anders entirely. "We both need sleep."

He walks away before Anders can reply. In Anders' mind, Justice's silence is one long howl of grief.

Alright I only have one thing to say Sahar. Thank you. Thank you so much for invisible thread and for literary just existing. I cannot explain properly I words how amazing this fic is. You don't even deserve words you deserve poems darling.

One of the things that stood out to me the most was how you represented reader's PTSD because of her mother. As a person who went through a very similar experience (and I do have PTSD yay) this is detailed correctly to the last word. The way you explained reader's guilt properly and her not feeling upset even though her mom died is a very real thing that I have seen happen to me and some of the people around me who've gone through similar experiences. I don't why I'm so fixated on these amazing descriptions but maybe it's because it's not often that I see these things portrayed correctly in media, even in books. Ma'am I will pay you to become an actual author.

I also noticed the way you wrote Y/N's hesitance to love again which was very beautifully conveyed in the first paragraphs. It's like we've known loneliness and desperation for so long that it's the only feeling we have and we accept that it is our destiny. But then Minho steps in and Y/N just feels something else. Something other than loneliness and longing for people to love her. She finally feels proper love and she receives it too. And that's just so comforting.

The colour thing omg I will ramble about this and no one can stop me! It was so painfully beautiful, and I mean that in a good way. Minho's little breakdown and Y/N just straight up feeling guilty is just so.... I can't explain this emotion (143 I love you hehe). It's almost like this is what is a good relationship when you and your partner both are dependent on each other for support both mental and literally everything else. And Minho also feeling guilty that he broke down? It's almost like this one quote I made in 9th grade and I recently also read on the internet "We may be going to Hell, but we know that we have held Heaven in our arms."

One of the reasons I feel like why this story is so comforting is because it portrays love, not as all roses and Cupids but as actual human love. It portrays love in laughter, in the little inside habits we have, in just sitting in silence knowing that we are fluent in it, in baking cakes, in remembering details, in risking everything to get something the other wants and most importantly, in finding solace in one and other. Babes whatever writing pill you're on, GIMME IT.

Overall, this is now in my "I'm coming back to this after angst" fic list! And I'm gonna read this so many times, my gf's gonna think I'm mental.

Erikaaa 🥰!! You’re welcome, I had seen the ask game and forgot to save it then I saw Gail had it on their blog and remembered to reblog it hehe. Of course I hope you enjoy these 😁💕!

1. What is the main color associated with them? What connections with that color do they share?

Oo the main color Alistar is associated with is White. I know white mainly means “purity” and innocence, but it also means simplicity and perfection, and Alistar comes off to others as “perfect” but when you get to know him he actually has quite a few flaws.

As for what connections he shares with the color, he actually connects waay more to it’s Eastern meanings: death and sadness. Alistar’s already had death in his life (ie; his mother) and he’s had *a lot* of sadness in it as well (ie; certain members of the squad blaming him, him blaming himself, etc;). So that’s why I associate White with Alistar 😅.

2. Drawing from the language of flowers, what flower would symbolize them?

Oo I’m so glad you asked this hehe 👀! Alrighty so the flowers that symoblize Alistar are: The Iris and the Heath (aka Erika lol) flower 🥰!

In the Western Language of Flowers the Iris means Faith, Valour, Wisdom, and Friendship which fits the main facets of his personality to a T, and I chose the Heath flower for the Japanese language of Flowers because it means “loneliness” which is a hidden part of his personality that no one really see’s. I chose the Heath flower and it’s meaning because, even though he is surrounded by people who love and care for him, he can’t help but be a bit lonely.

I mean, he’s the only one in his group of friends whose a Captain (and he’s only 19 which makes him one of the youngest ever), he has enemies both inside and outside his squad (he has friends too but still), and so much more.

11. Land, sea, or sky? Of the realms of the world, which one does the character belong to?

Land. He is very much a ground dweller lol, he doesn’t mind the sky too much but it isn’t his favorite thing (he has this very… *strange* fear that he may suddenly run into a flock of birds and wouldn’t have anywhere to go lmao!). As far as sea, Hm, he likes going to the beach and swimming in the water and stuff, but as far as being on a boat he gets sea sick easily lmao.

20. What word/phrase is central to their character? (It can be something they say or something that summarizes them meta-textually.)

I’m not sure if this counts as a “phrase”, but I made this quote for Alistar’s moodboard and i still think it suits him:

“ I got to where I am today because of me, not my father.”

Obviously his friends and family know he earned everything on his own, but everyone else saw/see’s it as nepotisim. To me this is somewhat central to his character, especially in “Children of the Future”, because he feels like he constantly has to prove that he’s earned his Captain’s title and that he’s just as amazing as his father and can lead the squad even though he’s still young.

i really love how expressive they are, both in the way they move & emote!!! i really hope that's something that gets picked up in the animated series somehow, like i imagine him to always move in a somewhat exaggerated way, like he's always got a bit of that Roger Rabbit feel to him lmao. not to the point where it feels jarring, but i think it'd be fun if he just...was animated a bit more cartoony than the others, if that makes sense. they are just a silly guy <3

ALSO, another thing i've talked about before that's really really sweet to me is that he...kinda seems to enjoy casual physical touch :') i'm mostly basing this on two instances of him putting his hand on people's shoulder in the comic while taking to them which. i know that's kind of nothing but it has lead to me headcanoning him as someone who's just very prone to these kind of casual little touches (while staying respectful of people's boundaries of course) and probably also enjoys people doing the same to him....also ky's head probably exploded the first time he placed a hand on their arm while talking to them

Milk: If, before you engaged with your F/O's source, someone had told you that you'd get super attached to that character, would you have believed them? Why or why not?

i'm. pretty sure i wouldn't have, because i honestly didn't pay that much attention to them during my first time reading the volumes he appeared in dsjkhskj 💀 i mean, MAYBE if someone had given me all the information there's to know about them because he does check a few boxes when it comes to the type (or one type, at least) of characters i like, but?? i still have to admit that he was just kinda unremarkable to me when he first appeared, i actually skimmed over a lot of his scenes and had to go back to reread them later once i became...more interested in them....i was also actually way more interested in another character from their source before my brain started focusing on them and fully expected to f/o said character which. obviously did not end up happening. so like, overall i guess it's definitely not like i would have been appalled by the idea of becoming attached to him, but it would've been hard for me to believe that i'd love him as much as i do now because my first reaction was basically just "...eh"? falling in love with them was definitely a very unexpected (but welcome) turn of events for me lmao

Hfjfjf honestly i would love to know if anyone notices a type because it's...really hard for me to pin down. i guess when it comes down to it, i really like characters who are just sort of. nice and silly??? even if it's hidden behind a though/serious exterior sometimes....also characters who are very passionate about something i guess!!! i think all in all in just like characters that feel, hm, safe to me i guess?? as in, i think about them when i need someone to comfort me and i feel like i'd genuinely have fun being with them and like i wouldn't have to pretend to be someone else around them, like they'd actually love me for me and even encourage me to be myself and do the things i love - like, characters who inspire me in some way and make me feel more comfortable going out of my comfort zone?? i think at this point in my life i tend to gravitate towards characters who reflect traits that i'd actually love in a real life partner, which. i guess sounds very basic as far as types go?? but that's probably the closest i get to describing it jdjdjd

random thoughts about run on, episode nine

(please do note that this post contains spoilers so read at your own risk.)

the point i’m about to make is valid for all dramas, not only this one. product placements throw me off :( i mean i know they’re necessary but sometimes, it’s so obvious that it kind of takes me out of the scene i’m watching :/

on a more positive note, king of rizz ki seon gyeom is back! he’s never left but he’s still back. what makes my heart go a little crazy is how he’s so sure of what he’s saying. like, for example, when mi joo tells him she’s prettier than the day before because she put on makeup, without missing a beat he lets her know she was still beautiful even when sick... the confidence in what he says is what makes it even more special 💓 if i had a ki seon gyeom in front of me, i would be left speechless oh so many times. it wouldn’t be funny

while we’re still talking about him, i found it super cute how seon gyeom was struggling to write in his diary. like mi joo said it’s not an assignment, but it felt like it was to him. and it’s also cute how he writes short sentences that go straight to the point, kind of like how he speaks. he’s direct with it

when yeong hwa gave the synopsis, it was so adorable :( especially how excited he was. i also liked how they reenacted the scene with dan ah in it hehe

kwon yeong il telling seon gyeom that his presence “motivated him to run” and here we have yet another proof that seon gyeom does have the natural gift to motivate people, even though it was never his intention

the fact that the whole woo sik story is still developed makes me happy because i didn’t want it to end with the disciplinary committee sending park gyu beok and kim gi beom off to the military and voilà! 

seon gyeom is worried about woo sik’s future and i can see why a lot of people think he’d be a great coach. he has all the qualities for it: he has experience in sports, he motivates people and cares for them. “i want to tell him (woo sik) i’d handle all obstacles so that he can be free to just run” i don’t know how the drama ends but i hope seon gyeom will become a coach or something like that 🤞

when ki jeong do (seon gyeom’s father) lets mi joo know that she might be “a passing moment in seon gyeom’s life” i can see why it impacted her so much. up until now, everything she’s been a part of has been temporary. as much time and effort as she puts in all of her projects, the end result only lasts a second or two. she waits for her name to be shown on screen for merely a few seconds and for barely no one else to see because not a lot of people wait until the ending credits. to talk about more recent stuff, she was fired from her job a day before the end of it. a lot of scenes that involve her are temporary. they don’t last as long. and i think that’s why it hurt her a lot. more because it seems to be a good summary of her life than being jealous of being replaced by another woman (even though that hurts as well, let’s be clear)

following my previous point, it also reminds me of seon gyeom saying that if mi joo’s bored, she can go and never come back. it all goes back to being temporary.

seon gyeom was so cute when he discovered that they’ll both appear in the ending credits of the movie. he wants to share as much stuff as he can with her 💞

another quote that i definitely agree with “i’m always careful about the messages i relay” it’s crucial as translators to be able to understand things completely or else, there will be a huge mess, like the whole f*** you incident. it’s also very telling how the director forgets that mi joo is a human and, as a human, she might make mistakes and not know everything. so it’s natural that she might have taken the f word the wrong way. she is a korean/english translator, but she doesn’t have universal knowledge in both languages. whenever there’s a translator scene, you can count on me sharing as much as i want about it

it felt refreshing to see seon gyeom tell mi joo to “not do anything she doesn’t want to do” a nice reminder of how things were the other way around in the beginning episodes

and, once again, you can see the power of seon gyeom the motivator “why do i suddenly feel like I could do anything? that’s usually not the case but she feels like she can do it this time”

seon gyeom does have a positive influence on people

whenever there’s a scene involving the status of mi joo and seon gyeom’s relationship, i always end up confused but i think i might understand things a bit better with this statement made by mi joo “whenever i feel closer to you, it feels as though you push me right back. i feel left out during the most important moments and that feeling doesn’t happen on its own” i’m no relationship expert but i can begin to understand why she was upset in previous episodes. i think?

when seon gyeom says he’s been doing what she’s asked of him (aka like her), my jaw dropped to the floor. he’s so smooth and not ashamed to say things like that. my heart!

it felt nice when woo sik said that he’s finally carefree and spoke his mind. “i didn’t know what i was so afraid of back then” nice character development

it was funny how seon gyeom’s the one to tell woo sik to “put himself first”

but at least he’s self aware “when it comes to my own issues, i have trouble being objective too.” so he offers a solution “let’s talk about about it together. two is better than one, don’t you think?”

the ending scene with dan ah and yeong hwa was fantastic. yeong hwa’s dream was shattered when dan ah compared him to a vending machine. she only chose him as a means to outstand her brother. he thought he had a chance with dan ah but that’s unfortunately not the first scenario of your dreams yeong hwa 💔

Mc's patronus :0 eee well, I scrolled through some descriptions and I thought that a king cobra or a python would be really fitting! Wouldn't a snake tattoo be really cool though?!!

As for Mingyu's mark, it's so hard to incapsulate someone's personality all in one image/symbol aha. And the mark has to end up pointing directly at their soulmate!! But if he does come to believe that she *could* be the one, it might just be her favorite plant or a quote from her favorite book !! There's no way you can get yourself around that until the final markings reveal itself klasdjl. But it could still be coincidental !!

mấy lần trước đăng word count lên đây than thở thì sau đó mình đều hoàn thành được fic khá nhanh. so here we go, con fic Dũng Toàn mình vật vã một tháng vừa rồi.

Emily St. John Mandel can’t stop writing about pandemics

On the unexpected success and popularity of her fourth novel, “Station Eleven”

I think it’s a fundamentally hopeful story; there’s a pandemic, and then life continues. And maybe that’s something a lot of us, myself included, were longing to hear. That turned out to be especially true in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, which were terrifying, and we didn’t know how far we could fall. I think a lot of the book’s success came down to that hopefulness.

On the intertextuality between her novels

I don’t know. It’s interesting to revisit the same characters, because you get to consider them more deeply. There’s a pleasure in order, in trying to make the world more cohesive for ourselves. That’s a big part of why I use the same characters in multiple books.

On the general appeal of post-apocalyptic fiction

Some people think that it has to do with economic inequality—in a world that’s fundamentally unfair, maybe on some level we want to just blow it all up and start over again. I’ve also heard it described as a reaction to climate change. I sometimes think our interest in the post-apocalyptic genre has to do with the deep ambivalence we feel about our technology. On one hand it’s wonderful; on the other, there is such a thing as being too connected and too available. And there is absolutely an erosion of privacy.

Also the one part that really resonates with me

BB: In both of your plague novels, especially the new one, there’s an express concern about the randomness of life, why one person falls ill and another does not, and whether there’s meaning to that. One peripheral character who sticks in my mind is the interviewer in Nairobi in Sea of Tranquility, who’s dying and really, really wants there to be some sort of reason for this, in order to find meaning in it. In your books, it’s random that some live and some die, but that is not meaningless to you.

ESJM: No, it’s not meaningless to me, but it is random. It’s the spring of 2022 and I haven’t gotten COVID yet. I’ve been very careful, but I also crowded into the grocery stores just like everybody else on March 12, 2020, in New York City. And there’s something very random about the way that I didn’t get sick when I’m sure countless other people did while going about the same activity. I wouldn’t say that that implies meaninglessness, but there is definitely something very random happening to us.
