Hi everyone! I was just about to share one of my old custom rabbit hole builds but when I took another look, I realized it contains around 200 CC's which may not be suitable for gameplay for some players. So, I went ahead and rebuilt it on a smaller lot with fewer CC's.

This was only for the police department and I'm dreading the day I have to check my custom hospital lot because I totally remembered I had a morgue with dead bodies in it.🤭

For this lot, I've reduced the number of CC to 30! Now that I'm slowly introducing CC to my lots, I've decided to create a new WCIF Navigation page to make each post neater and to help others check CC more easily for every lot, as well as crediting the amazing TS3 creators.

To respect the terms of use (TOU) of all creators, I won't include the custom contents (CCs) in my download file. Instead, I will always provide their direct links so that you all have the option to download them separately. I have followed this practice since the beginning as a creator and will continue to do so in the future.

📣 Please note that I've offered alternative links for the rabbit hole doors/rugs because I have an older version of the game so I'm currently using an older version of the rabbit hole as well. I've placed the rabbit hole room on the first floor and used a door for a "Chief/Boss showroom" but you can remove the objects if you plan to use a rug instead.

I updated my details above, particularly the 'Minimum Required Game Version' because it seems that some may not understand that this lot can still be played with new versions/patches. :)

This lot has been play-tested, including the RH door, which works fine. The décor inside the room won't affect it so you can keep it as is. As for the rug, it fits inside the room but you may need to remove the objects inside to ensure there are no obstacles when Sims enter it. Let me know if you experience any problems on your end!

Ready for some very old pictures to celebrate Micah’s life?

The most serendipitous thing to ever happen to Micah was meeting Sophie Nova.

No, I mean, I suppose it wasn’t totally serendipitous since I only had like 25 sims in my hood and only a handful of them were teenagers at the same time, lol! But even so, they had their first kiss shortly after his thirteenth birthday, and that would begin a passionate and enduring romance.

The only drama they ever knew was apparently this senior prom, when Micah danced with another girl who was WEARING THE SAME DRESS. And Sophie did not like it at all.

Officially thereafter, they would be inseparable.

They spent their college years in the hot tub, had a real chapel wedding (not in the bathroom in their underwear like the other riffraff!), and then went straight into parenthood, as you do in TS2 circa 2006.

They had twins, whom I apparently didn’t take any photos of until they were teenagers. Hayden and Jackson.

Oh, poor Hayden. TS2 zits were so unforgiving!

But sweet as his children were and sometimes weren’t, the highlight of Micah’s life was his forty-year marriage to Sophie.

Their love remained as passionate through their adulthood as it had been when they were teenagers. They were each other’s rocks through many challenging times. And, oh, how their children and grandchildren put them through some impossibly hard times. Their marriage never faltered for a moment.

Micah spent his youth and middle-aged years rising to police chief of the Lake County Police Department, marking a long career of public service to his community and his family.

Micah is survived by his loving wife Sophie, sons Jack (with Nessa) and Hayden (with Piper), and seven grandchildren: Summer, Ryanne, Aaron, Luca, Rowan, Hope, and Harper.

Lately I've been making sims for my three cemeteries. Yes, there are 3! Because God knows, the Capps and Montys can't bury their dead in the same place - nor do they want the town's riff-raft next to their dearly departed. Anyway, I hate CAS - as you all know - so in between creating dead sims, I'm still working on the town itself.

One of the things I did, was replace the city hall with one of those 3-in-1 rabbit holes. Mostly because 1) I am too lazy to do the whole military base and 2) I needed the spot where the police station was for my live show venue. In any event, I think this rabbithole looks nicer in this town. I'm guessing it came from that boat ep, but since I hardly ever play that world, I didn't remember it. But I do like it here. I've added a podium so my politicians can wax poetic, trying to con the populace into voting for more taxes, and a soapbox for my protestor sims. Plus Sandy's bike park shelter for the bicycles.

This is my new consignment store. It's right across the street from where the old police station was. I found the original lot over on TSR. I just "fixed" it, by redoing the landscaping, adding some vines on the building and signage. The white building I left empty, mostly because it has a weird set-up inside, having been built on a different level than the main build. So, it's just set-dressing.

And here's the new live show venue lot where the police station was. In danjaley's version, she had also had an old Globe Theater in her town, which shared a lot with a theater rabbithole. I really liked that idea, so when I saw this lot over on Mod the Sims, I grabbed it. In my town history, this was scheduled to be torn down, but Consort Capp said, "Over my dead body!" To which Patrizio responded, "That can be arranged!" Anyway, the Capps prevailed in saving it by having the building registered on the Sim National Register for Historic Sites. For those of you who don't know, that means it can't be torn down - ever. Anyway, old Patrizio blocked all funding for its restoration, so the Capp family footed the bill - with the stipulation that their name be added to the National Registry plague out front. This royally ticked off the Montys, since 1) it makes the Capps look magnanimous and 2) this building is actually on the Monty side of the main island. So, they built a new theater on the Capp side. (More pictures of that later).

Anyway, I think this was built before Showtime came out, since the original stage wasn't a 'real' stage. I made it a bit smaller so that I could put those benches out front and then used that smaller 6 by something stage. Then I went outside and relandscaped the lot. Go, me!

📩 Simblr question of the day: A non-sims simblr question/s! Besides Sims, what other games do you play and what platforms do you like to play on? (PC, Console, Mobile...) What would genre/s do you tend to lean towards? (FPS, Sandbox, Multiplayer, Simulation, etc.)

I don't play many games! There are a few that though that I enjoyed a lot in the past like Unturned, Stardew Valley, Attack on Titan 2, Pokemon, and Mario Kart. The only other game I've truly loved as much as (and as long as) The Sims is Jet Set Radio Future <3 Here's a video I found on YouTube of some gameplay from it:

It looks like just a fun little rollerblading game, but it was SO much more than that!! It was revolutionary and heavily shaped who I am today. The main villain of the game is Rokkaku Goji, who owns an enterprise and used both his political influence and money to buy the police department. He started the "Rokkaku Law" and is trying to stop the revolution of freethinkers. You play as members of a group called the GG's whose mission is to stop Rokkaku, the police, and to retake their turfs from other groups. All they use are spray cans to achieve their mission, but the spray cans symbolize freedom of speech and freedom of protest. Jet Set Radio Future has so much love put into it. It blends together the hip-hop, techno, rock scenes beautifully. The style, character designs, and sense of community are inspiring. It taught me at a young age to never back down on what I believe in and how important self-expression is.

Pride Collection CC Kit by make_it_sizzle

I’m excited to announce the release of my Pride Collection CC Kit. On this special month of June, we celebrate Juneteenth and Pride month. As an African American man who also happens to be gay and play The Sims, creating this CC kit was so important for me.  I truly feel as though the spirit of Storme DeLarverie should be in each and every one of us, which is why I named one of my CC items after them.

Below is a brief history of the two holidays.

If you do not already know, Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. Celebrated annually on June 19th, its origins date back to 1865. On June 19, 1965, General Gordon Granger rode into Galveston, Texas, and announced that enslaved people were now free. However, the enslaved people had no idea they had already been emancipated. That June 19th announcement arrived 2 and a half years after President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1st, 1863.

The first Pride was a riot. Pride Month is an annual celebration of many of the contributions made by the LGBTQ+ community to cultures, society, and history worldwide. Pride commemorates its roots in the Stonewall Riots that occurred on June 28th, 1969. As was a common practice in many cities, the New York Police Department (NYPD) would occasionally raid bars where gays and lesbians were known to gather. On June 28, police dragged patrons and employees out of Stonewall In, a popular gay bar in Manhattan, New York, and several people fought back against the NYPD. It was said that Storme DeLarverie, a gay rights activist, threw the first punch at the riot. A crowd of people slowly but surely grew which turned into a 6 day protest which was led largely by Black LGBTQ+ women that marched the streets of Manhattan.

Sims Family Murder

On 22nd October 1966, most of the population of Tallahassee was attending a football game at the popular North Florida Fair. Events like this quite literally left the streets empty since entertainment was infrequent. The Sims family, namely Robert, 42, his wife Helen, 34, decided to stay back home at Muriel Court Drive with their youngest daughter, Joy, aged 12. Their 15-year-old daughter Judith Ann was out babysitting, and Norma Jeanette, 17, was at the game. Florida State beat Mississippi State 10–1 that night. While the town enjoyed the game, someone, somewhere, killed the three Sims staying home and vanished like a ghost. Norma had expected to find her family still watching the game when she returned. The TV was on, but her family was nowhere to be seen.

Dr. Robert Sims, an information technology expert with the Department of Education, was lying on the bed fighting for his life. He had been shot once in the head. It was clear that the attack had taken place not too long ago. Helen Sims, a Sunday school teacher, and church secretary was lying on the floor, also alive. She had been shot twice in the head and in the leg (some reports state she was stabbed). Joy Lynn Sims wasn’t alive; the child had been shot in the head and stabbed more than 6 times in her stomach. Her panties were pulled down to her thighs, and her cheek was bruised.

The first people to arrive on the scene were Russell Bevis and his young son, Rocky, in response to Norma’s call to Bevis Funeral Home. In an attempt to save their lives, Bevis tried to loosen their bindings, an act that compromised the crime scene. The first investigator on the scene, officer E.C. Cooper Donley remembers this horrific scene to this day. Helen Sims passed away in hospital 9 days after the attack. She didn’t regain consciousness to give information to police about the assailant, given that a bullet was buried deep into her brain and rendered her comatose.

Considering the situation, investigators were sure that the murderer was known to the family. There was no sign of a break-in; nothing had been stolen to suggest a botched robbery since money was lying around in plain sight on the scene. The attack had taken place a short while before Norma got home — coffee cups were lying half-drunk on the table, and the full ashtray remained untouched.

A neighbor corroborated this story, telling police that they had heard screams around 10:45 pm. The most compelling evidence found was the specialized Granny knots used to bind the 3 Sims with material from their own house: lingerie, socks, pantyhose, and ties. Unfortunately, the inefficacy of DNA evidence back then led to nobody being identified as being on the scene.

Old investigators later took to the internet to share their speculations that the assailant(s) had stayed back to clean up the crime scene and had been from the neighborhood. Others reject this theory, saying that Tallahassee’s unsuspecting and violent crime-free nature would have anybody opening their doors to a stranger. Yet others theorize that the murder was calculated, relying on the town being preoccupied with the football game.

Some advancements were made in 2015 and 2016 through documentaries made by FSU students; however, the case could still not be solved. Norma and Judith Sims have never spoken publicly about the murder of their family and remain under the radar to date.

The "Glamour Girl" Case had been going no where. Frank was working alongside neighboring jurisdictions. The killer's dumping grounds were in the back wood trails in the mountains that bordered Sim Angeles. Three girls had been dumped in different counties, presumably as a countermeasure to the police figuring out they were connected. Unfortunately for the killer, one of the girls he snuffed out was the mistress of a high ranking police officer. Officially, the case was because the safety of the young women, even the ones who've fallen out of grace, need to be reiterated.

Frank had been called to a remote cabin at the base of the mountains, and found 3 women who were in varying degrees of hysterics. He took statement from all of them, and they all lead no where. 5 weeks had passed since he'd first stepped into this case. Frank sat back and thought about ??. He knew she was frustrated with him. They were supposed to be planning their wedding, but instead of trying cake samples tonight — he was staring at an autopsy report. There was nothing in the report that surprised him. He'd expected that the findings would mirror the others, but a note from the M.E. on one of the snaps caught his eye. A foreign substance had been found in the wound track. Something oily — it was being sent off for more tests. Oily? Wasn't there an oil stain in the dirt near one of the other bodies. Frank had visited the crime scene well after the murder occurred but it had rained the night before and there was oily evidence surrounding what had been the crime scene. It hadn't been noticed during the initial investigation because it'd been dry. Frank quickly dug through his notes and started thinking about the case from his new angle.

A week after his new discovery, Frank plopped their only suspect down into Interrogation. He was on the defensive, but Frank knew he had his man. He led the interview with logic and evidence and the guy cracked like an egg.

Frank was lauded by the department and was given a commendation!

Well…that was an adventure 😐

It warmed up enough for us to go on a two mile freedom walk. While we were out we found an expensive iPhone that still worked but the screen was destroyed. I know for a fact this phone wasn’t here the last time we walked this way five days ago. I called the police department (non-emergency number) and they said they weren’t interested and didn’t want to check to see if a phone was reported lost or stolen. I took the sim card out and called the phone company. They said they would love to help me find the owner but I would need to bring it in. The store was just down the road a few miles and I needed to talk to the company about an unrelated matter, so Mandana and I got a Lyft. She did a blood pressure alert as soon as we got to the store. I guess my break from crazy heart rate & blood pressure over. Oh well.

The first person I talked to was incredibly rude and wanted me to get Hubbins on the phone to handle it instead of me. While Mandana and I waited for Hubbins to get back to us another employee came over and apologized for her coworker and immediately resolved our account problems without hesitation.

Now it was time to go home, but my phone was dying. I knew it wouldn’t last long enough to get us another ride, so we decided to walk down the street a mile to a place where we could charge my phone and get a ride back. Unfortunately the short walk turned into a whole ordeal bc the local infrastructure values cars over pedestrians. Below are only 1/3 of the obstacles we faced before my phone died.

I can push these buttons but no service dog could. (Think amputees or wheelchair users who rely on a service dog for these kinds of mobility tasks)

Lots of sidewalks that just end abruptly. This is a lot more difficult on my heart rate & blood pressure but can you imagine someone who is blind or wheelchair bound? If you don’t have a car this is the only way to access the stores if you work there or need to go shopping. (Pedestrians are directed to these unfinished sidewalks by GPS & with ramps, signs & access buttons. It’s been like this for many years so there’s really no excuse)

Idk many wheelchairs that could make it up this curb. It was like this on both sides. Why would they start to build a ramp just to block it off with a curb?

Ah yes. My favorite. Here Mandana, let’s leap over this concrete wall. Don’t worry, there are access buttons leading here and this is the only place to cross so there must be a safe way to get across. Oh wait, there’s no crosswalk or access buttons once you get here. What am I supposed to do? Get an Uber just to cross the road?

We were eventually able to charge my phone and the guy driving us home was incredibly nice & accommodating. Mandana did great the entire time we were out. I tried to make the “adventure” fun for her and hide how frustrating it was for me. Idk if she believed me but I know she had fun anyways. We are both home safe and ready for a nap.

Some facts about my new FO4 OC Annie🖤

Go to drink order.

Annie doesn’t drink. Never liked the taste of alcohol even before the bombs, but now it all tasted sour. Even ‘bucket brew’ as the wastelanders called it, turned her stomach. Nukas are fine to stay up when on the road, coffee is her preferred caffeine route when home. Give her purified water anytime

Grooming

She likes to stay as clean as she can. Showers regularly, does laundry, shaves when she can. Her time with the BOS was enlightening on wasteland cleanliness. Brushes her hair and likes it up or tied back. Keeps her gear in tip top shape. I really like to role play that she is a traveling medic, since I work in healthcare irl.

Most expensive purchase

Getting HQ up and running was no easy, cheap task. Annie put up a lot of funding to get the departments up and running. Not to mention settlements. Making sure meds, chems, food is in good supply. Basically her caps go towards the greater good. She turned Starlight theater into a large “Family Center”. Arcade games, Nuka World carnival style games, rides for little kids, cotton candy machines and a weekly movie night. This fricken settlement took me so much time to build, but I think Annie found it therapeutic even though it was expensive to build.

Any tattoos or scars?

She has a cat tattoo on her right hand. It’s just a black line tattoo that she got when she was younger. As far s as scars go, no. A couple scrapes from commonwealth life, but nothing note worthy. I’am planning on her having burns at some point after her fight with the Forged.

Factions.

Annie is my FO4, Sim settlements 2 character. If you have not played this mod, consider it. Game changing. Annie starts off MM and stays with them for the most part. Gets the good, 3 faction ending. Spends a lot of time with the CPD, Commonwealth Police Department, along side Nick; solving crimes and going after Good Neighbor goons and Merowski dealers.

Annie loves the Nightingales. Helps them whenever she can. And it has nothing to do with Raphael… no matter what Jake thinks 😉

RR will always be special. Danse, Curie, little Shaun, Nick…synths are love 🫶🏻. Also Deacon is her boi.

Going back to the CPD, did I mention she got Gage to be a good boy…after the events of Nuka World, she spares the Pack and Operators and Gage; and as long as they don’t have to work with the MM, they’re fine working with Annie. Gage ends up working for the CPD and he ends up looking something like this 🫠

So yeah…he’s distracting

Romance 💘

She is Mrs. Jake Evans. But it wasn’t like that in the beginning. Jake was friendly but distant, he had his own troubles he was going through. So while Annie was crazy for him, it took a while for Jake to reciprocate those feelings. But everyone knows the quick fix for the lonely blues can be found in Good Neighbor. Hancock and Annie had a few boozy nights together, but John is no dummy. He sees her broken heart and knows it longs for someone else and encourages her to go to Jake in her own time.

the magnus archives is a fiction horror podcast written by jonny sims, about the Archivist, jonathan sims. no they are not supposed to be the same person, jonny is just shit at character naming. there's like 4 michaels alone (michael shelley / michael distortion / mikaele / mike). btw if i say "jonny" i am refering to the writer, if i say jon/jonathan i am refering to the character

so, Jon works for the Magnus Institute, London, an institution dedicated to documenting and investigating paranormal experiences. he used to work in the research department, but after the passing of the former Head Archivist (Gertrude), he found himself suddenly promoted to the archivist job. Now, he reads people's written "statements" (supernatural) so they have audio versions.

each episode contains one statement + jon's thoughts on it at the end. in this way, it is an anthology horror series; each episode has a sort of "monster of the week" that is its own disconnected and fully-fledged horror story. BUT!!! BUT!!! it is,,, connected. there is a Grander Plot. as it goes on, connections start to be made between the statements, with several developing plotlines and b-plots, and supernatural happenings even start to go on in the institute itself. it is REALLY thought out; my relisten has me finding tiny connected details in almost every episode.

TMA has to be listened to in order, from episode 1-200; i say that because i was told it doesn't and almost started with ep 187 (every day i mentally thank the person who told me NO NO START WITH #1 AND GO IN ORDER. every day). additionally, each episode, or "MAG", is about 20 minutes long, and TMA is split into five 40-episode seasons.

some various stuff: it's queer! jon is ace & bi and its not a big deal bc, you know, he's busy with The Horrors. several other characters are queer as well. speaking of characters, they're great; you get quite attached to both the main ones (Jon, Martin, Tim, Melanie, etc) and several side ones (Sasha, Gerry, Michael, Helen, etc).

a note: the TMA creators care a lot about being respectful to marginalized groups and when handling careful topics, but they fucked up sometimes. in particular, early "spiral statements" (stories abt lies, confusion, and the human mind) sometimes lean into the "ooh scary hallucinations" thing in season 1. as it goes on, it does get better (changing the focus to things such as "it's horrifying not to be believed about your struggle with mental illness"), but it is worth warning about, imo. (There's about... 2? i can think of? that specifically give me pause.)

a second note: TMA is very much horror, if it wasn't already obvious. It deals with things like cannibalism, insect infestation, heavy isolation, skinning, body horror, police brutality, spiders, paranoia, being watched/spied on/Known, etc. It is also a tragedy. With those two things in mind, please remember to take care of yourself, first and foremost, and take breaks/stop if you need to.

tma is really really really good, surprisingly emotional, full of creative horror and compelling stories, and has some AWESOME themes and storylines centering around monstrocity, what it means to be human, abuse of power, and what you can do in a system that fundamentally just wants to hurt you, and i 100% recommend it if you want to try it out!!

New town

So, I’ve moved on from Bridgeport - simply because it has a really bad habit of crashing. Don’t know why, but it does. 

Anyway, while looking for a new world to play, I decided to check out Strangetown by Fekakaa. https://sims3strangetown.blogspot.com/2021/07/strangetown-for-sims-3.html

It is a truly beautiful world and POPULATED!!!!! By the original sims - complete with their Sims 2 backstories, relationships, and even family histories. This creator took a lot of time creating this. I mean, when you click on a sim’s family panel, all these dead sim relatives show up. I was wondering how to establish the convoluted Singles/Curious/Smith family ties, and when I clicked on Lola Curious, there were all her dead ancestors who tied her to the other 2 families. He even named the 4 girls correctly - which saved me tons of time. Because, yes, I am that anal! 

Anyway, here are the 4 girls and the house where they live. They are unemployed when you start the game, but using their backstory, I placed them in the job of their Sims 2 dreams. Lola (red sweater) now works in the political career and plans on taking over this town one day. Her sister, Chloe, works with the local police department. Erin Beaker (the blonde in pink) has a job as a psychic, even though she can’t figure out how to open a bag of chips, let alone predict someone’s future. And Kristen Loste has a job with the local sports team. She’s just using Strangetown as a step up on her dream of becoming a sports legend with the Bridgeport team.

Across the street and around the corner, lives Ajay Loner - my all-time favorite Strangetown sim. Even he has dead relatives in his family panel! Anyway, I always played him as a cop, so I gave him a job with the local police as a CSI profiler. (Chloe is going down the super agent track). I did give these sims custom skins and some different clothes - just because. And I will be adding some custom lots to the town, plus redoing some that are already made. But you really don’t have to, because - like I said - this guy did a remarkable job creating this world. But it’s what I do in every town I play - even when I played in the original Sims 2 rendition of this game. 

Anyway, if any of you want a really nice recreation of the Sims 2 town, definitely check this one out.

vampire fic made me realize i never commented about ghost jon so i'm gonna use your askbox to avoid the energy cost of swapping sites. I! have been thinking! about jon curled up in his sad lil corner ever since i read it. Also thinking about a variety of one shots and aus related to it. what if elias DID get jon a lil friend or marry him or etc etc. About Jon being dropped on the hard cold floor when he's so desperately sick and seeing elias walk away and leave him in the dark AGAIN. it made me fully cry, tears running down my cheeks, as your work so often does

i am so glad you brought up elias leaving jon to die alone because that was my favorite part of the whole thing. i rearranged the whole story like twenty times trying to figure out the right time to reveal that detail, and I'm really proud of how it turned out where jon is thinking about it constantly but the reader doesn't find out until he's deep in the revenge ��🔪🔪

that scene also made all of elias' whole deal so funny to write. man could have easily avoided the whole haunting if he had simply stayed with jon (or even just left him alone in the comfy bed!) instead of being The Worst

elias in general was really fun to write in the fic ESPECIALLY with his lil fantasies about marrying jon and moving to some picturesque cabin somewhere. elias literally all of your friends and business partners know jon as a) your nephew and b) EXTREMELY mentally ill. like. i think someone would have objections, or at least questions??? idk maybe it would be an "official-in-elias'-mind" marriage where there are no witnesses or officiant or documentation, but we're married now trust me <3

thinking about jon as a tragic ghost is making me want to get the olivepilogue finished (fingers crossed for halloween??) but as a teaser here's the blog post gerry wrote after his interview with elias (under a cut because it's p long):

On June 5, in a series of events that I'm sure my readers are by now very familiar with, Elias Bouchard turned himself into the police for the crime of kidnapping, falsely imprisoning, and eventually murdering Jonathan Sims.

On June 6, Jonathan's remains were recovered from the Bouchard estate and taken to Westlake Mortuary Services for cremation. Westlake is a mortuary company that specializes in identifying psychic activity in their deceased clients, and every member of their staff is a certified medium. In their official report, they found no unexplained psychic activity or spiritual manifestations, and Jonathan was officially ruled a departed spirit.

Because of that, none of the journalistic coverage of the Elias Bouchard trial has made any attempt to contact or interview Jonathan, despite substantial evidence that Bouchard experienced psychic activity in the months after Jonathan's death.

On July 1, I obtained an interview with Bouchard. However, if you're looking for more juicy insights into the leech, you'd be better off checking the tabloids. My purpose in going was to look for signs that Jonathan is not departed at all, and after my experience, I can say with absolute certainty that Jonathan is very much still here.

Before all the skeptics jump down my throat, I know better than anyone that being clairvoyant is not the same as being a true medium. I'm not claiming to have spoken to Jonathan. I do, however, have an eye for psychic activity and spiritual anomalies, and Jonathan was making no attempts to hide his presence. He spent most of the interview leaning over my shoulder, presumably looking at my notepad. I felt his mood lighten whenever I said something rude to Elias, and I felt him darken at times when Elias said things I can only assume he disagrees with. When my interview ended (early, because apparently Bouchard is the easily-offended sort), Jonathan followed me all the way to the door.

I don't know if he heard me, or even knew I was speaking to him, but I told him to keep up the good work.

Manifesting a haunting is no easy task for a spirit. From this side of the veil, it seems like the simplest thing in the world—wouldn’t we all choose to keep living, rather than die? It’s important to remember that the dead belong to the beyond. The moment you die, your soul, your very essence, longs to be gone, longs to rest.

Imagine you’ve been awake for forty-eight hours straight. Finally, you’ve lain down in bed, beneath your most comfortable blankets. Your white noise machine is playing soothing ocean sounds, and just keeping your eyes open feels like a monumental effort. Is there anything that could pull you away from your rest?

Now imagine you’ve spent the past four years being tortured by a psychopath. You’ve long since given up on rescue or escape; it’s all you can do to make it through every day with your mind halfway intact. Then, finally, for the first time in four years, the pain ends. You don’t hurt, you aren’t trapped, and your tormentor is far away.

Would you go back?

I am so sick of the narrative everyone seems to agree upon that paints Jonathan as a tragic, helpless victim of a monstrous man. All of these articles and podcasts and numbered-list breakdowns of the evidence stacking up against Elias Bouchard treat Jonathan like his imprisonment and death were an inevitability of the kind of person he was.

At the time of his kidnapping, Jonathan was taking a semester break from working on his Master's degree. According to his academic advisor, he'd taken time off for his mental health. The rigor of the program was causing him considerable stress.

I keep seeing this fact brought up in articles about Bouchard. If I were being generous, I would say that the authors of those articles were trying to humanize Jonathan, to make the audience see him as a real person instead of an abstract. But I'm not being generous. Over and over again, Jonathan's mental health issues are at best held up as potential reasons he was particularly vulnerable to attack. At worst, they are used to explain why he never managed to escape in four years of imprisonment (as if Bouchard hasn’t admitted that Jonathan tried to escape multiple times).

Of course, it isn't just Jon's leave of absence that gets utilized in this way. It's every goddamn thing about him. It's statements from his ex-landlord saying that Jonathan always seemed a bit nervous when putting in work orders and his ex-boss saying that she tended to worry about him because he struck her as a bit naive. It's quotes from Elias fucking Bouchard himself saying that Jonathan was simply "an easy target."

Well, thank god the rest of us aren't easy targets!

This systematic evisceration of Jonathan's agency makes me furious. Jonathan could have left this plane as soon as he died, and none of us would have known what happened to him. Elias Bouchard would not be facing trial; he would still be living it up in his lavish estate, feeling absolutely no guilt for the things he's done.

Maybe he'd even have found another "easy target" by now.

But Jonathan stayed. He stayed, and he made sure that Elias Bouchard paid for his crimes. He made sure that we learned the truth. He made sure that justice was served.

This story is a tragedy, not because Jonathan could do nothing to fight against Elias, but because he fought with everything he had and it wasn't enough to save him. Jonathan died, and then he kept fighting anyway.

Just one more thing before I sign off:

I hope that fucker rots in prison.

UBrite Adventures

I'm going to start a new storyline with some brand new sims (since all my other ones that I was getting started are now gone forever :( ) . My plan so far is to post at least once a week. Regardless if others follow along with what I'm posting, I need something to work on and develop for the sake of my mental health. For those of you who may follow along with this story, I appreciate you and thank you in advance <3.

Well, let's get into it...

This story will follow the lives of two young, bright-eyed adults. But first, let's take a look at their family units to help get us more acquainted with our main characters.

The Williamson's

The Williamson's reside in Brindleton Bay. In the center of the picture is Alice and Alexander Williamson. The two were high school sweethearts who followed one another off to university. Alexander received a degree in biology, while Alice received a degree in communications. Upon graduating from university, Alexander asked Alice to marry him. They are very happily married and are head over heals for one another. Alexander is currently the Chief of Staff at Whiskerman's Wharf Hospital and Alice is the Head Chancellor of Brindleton Bay community schools.

After two years of being happily married, and settled in their careers, they had their first son Anthony Williamson (pictured on the right). Growing up, Anthony idealized his father. The two would do almost everything together, and eventually Anthony followed in his footsteps to pursue a career in the medical field. Anthony currently works at Whiskerman's Wharf Hospital as a general practitioner. His ultimate goal is to take over as chief of staff after his father retires. Anthony is married to Margret Williamson (red haired female). Margret and Anthony married right after Anthony graduated from university, which is where they had met. Margret works as a teacher for Brindleton Bay community schools. The two have two children: Molly (child) and Andrew (toddler).

After Alice and Alexander had Anthony, they waited several years until they finally had their second oldest son, Aiden Williamson (young adult; left side of picture next to Alice). Aiden and Anthony have always been close, however, Aiden is more of the rebellious type. So as they have gotten older, they have become a bit more distant. After high school, Aiden pursued a degree in criminal justice and is now working as a detective at Brindleton Bay police department. After about two years of working here, he met Nicole Vann (blonde haired female; young adult). Nicole is a private attorney and had walked into the police department one day to represent a client. The two hit it off immediately and have been dating for over 4 years now.

Lastly, we come to one of our main characters in this series, Austin Williamson (young adult; standing behind parents). Austin is quite the character. He has always been the class clown and so care-free. Austin absolutely loves being in nature and has spent so much of his childhood outdoors exploring. His main aspiration is to help make the world greener and cleaner. Therefore, he is currently enrolled at Britechester University and is actively pursuing a physics degree. He hopes to one day become a green technician and build eco-friendly products to help aid in reaching his aspiration.

This concludes the background story for our first main character of this series. Keep an eye out for a second post that outlines the background story of our second main character: Lily Suzuki.
