i was thinking about your dirk and hal poll and i want to mention that i think your concept for ink and iron where dirk creates hal from his reflection by enchanting a mirror is so cool 😌

thank you! hal's predicament and purpose within the canon narrative is so fascinating and i felt it was really important to find a way to explore what i find most interesting with him. i can't take full credit for the concept though i took inspiration from a few placees (one of my friends pitched the idea of the mirror accidentally dumping him onto jake's doorstop for example) but overall i think the idea is very fun and i'm really excited to write more hal stuff!!! also i'm going to take the opportunity to share this oldish doodle i found:

#obviously an AU is going to be different from canon #but i like AUs specifically *because* i have a lot of fun trying to translate canon ideas into another setting or genre in general #in this case its a riff on the fairy tale magic mirror #hal is still an experiment gone wrong/artificial being created to serve a purpose trapped in a non-physical form and denied personhood #as well as being an extension of dirk's selfhood and very literal expression of his self image #this time with extra gender problems as per my original intentions for the fic. which now feel more than a bit heavy handed but whatever #point is hal gets to play up the trapped demon/spirit/almost genie-esque angle isntead of the artificial intelligence schtick in canon #which i am having a lot of fun writing! #he is also a very important plot device. multitalented 💕 #for anyone wondering i&i is NOT an abandoned project its just huge and whipping it into shape is slow going #i've taken breaks to work on other stuff too #ink and iron #i guess that's a tag i should start using #even though i'm not too happy with the title still. lmao

my one season 4 complaint is Where The Fuck Was Aneesa

i remember it used to be a bit of a fandom pet peeve of mine that some people would forget that the gung ho guns and eye of michael were two separate groups with some membership overlap but then stampede came along and made the eom into a project of conrad’s backed by knives. another example of how the reboot feels like bad fanfiction.

#the eom worked best as a predominantly shadowy unknown group most closely tied to wolfwood and LR’s stories #i LIKED that we didn’t know who ran it or what their broader goals were outside of what contact they had with knives/the ghg #extradiagetically nightow just didn’t need to explore the eom in detail. they served their narrative purpose. #but i also find stories that try too hard to ask you bonus questions with overexplained answers to be very lame #so while prestampede it was kinda annoying but ultimately excusable to see ghg/eom used interchangeably #the new show cemented it them as interlinked in a way that actually made the story structure much weaker in an attempt to get ahead of you #this is all very much a critique of mine from the perspective of a writer not just a viewer btw #bad writing isn’t always enough to kill something yk. but plot holes are harder to excuse when your themes and structure are lacking #the manga’s Foundations were just much stronger than the reboot’s if you will #you can turn your brain off with this show and just watch the pretty colors if you want. absolutely no shame in that. we need that stuff #i guess i just struggle to accept a no brainer show like this as being another core leg of the story in the way trimax/98 are bc of it #pretentious of me i know. #stampede critical #for my followers that filter it

Re; That Kerry being dismissive thing- RIGHT?! Wasn't he in the middle of setting up the concert? He was just busy at the moment! I'm sure that if V called at a different time, when he was travelling or had a free moment he'd talk to them properly. Other than his ego, which like, you're right about, he's a busy man, who can't just have an inpromptu catching up session because he has milions of fans and eurodollars on the line. I think that he's being reasonable, he gives V an estimate of when he will be free and when they will be able to meet up again, and he even promises them a trip to wherever they'd like.

I think that a lot of people have this very demanding attitude towards romantic interests in video games, where they are basically pure wish fulfillments who change 180 when you romance them and do nothing but cheer on the player's every decision and tell them how much they love and mean to them. In cyberpunk you really feel like they all retain their personalities, good and bad parts, and you just happen to be in a relationship with said person, not someone who lost all their edges to cater to your character. The characters take logical actions when viewed through their own internal logic- Judy leaves and gets married, Panam is furious when she thinks V ghosted her and is still pissed, River doesn't want to mix up V in a potentially dangerous situation and Kerry focuses on his career. They won't magically drop everything just because V resurfaced, things happened in these two years and V can't do anything about it but accept it.

I agree 110% with you. He’s in the middle of setting up a concert, and despite having his attention pulled every which way is trying to give V as much of him as he can. Which is quite generous, considering he is an international rockstar and incredibly busy. Not only do people have a strange view of romantic interests in video games, but I also think a lot of fans want the romance in video games to follow traditional Romance parameters, and unless it’s a dating sim, I would not consider most video game plot genres or even sub genres to be Romance. Giving up everything for your one true love is fine and logical in a traditional Romance storyline— Cyberpunk 2077 is not that. Cyberpunk is true to its namesake, it’s dystopian, it’s bleak, it has an amount of realism that a lot of traditional Romance pushes to the wayside in favor of happily ever after and tropes that, when looked at w any sort of consideration of realism, would actually be a collection of red flags.

#this is not me saying i dont like the romance genre! but it has different rules #expecting a tragedy to follow those rules is silly. its out of place. it serves no purpose of the story #and that’s another fan thing i suppose: the purpose of the story is very rarely your blorbos and romances #pawel had a great lets play where he discusses how for him characters are tools to advance the plot #and Kerry especially is a character to tell a story for both johnny and v #and i think he tells that story beautifully. ain’t my fault ppl dont know how to read #anyway thank u for sending this ask1 #sorry if it took a bit my notifs are kinda wonky #cp 2077

my biggest qualm with stranger things is the lack of focus on will as an individual character. i feel like him and el should have both been protags, side by side and he feels more like a secondary character which is annoying bc his abduction is what started the entire show and there is so much to explore with him: his trauma, his sexuality, his relationship with el as brother and sister, etc. i think this is kinda why the focus on mike kinda frustrated me. it’s like both will and el focus so much on him that it takes away their own spot light (more so with will) and like... for What?

As Cala has said, Sirius was a sailor, although it wasn’t by choice, he’d been kidnapped by a ship crew who used him for his gorgon abilities, tying a cloth around his eyes when he wasn’t in use.

Tethys is the heiress to the Pacific Ocean, though often wanders off from her territory to dine on passing pirate ships.

They met when they were each 19 and Tethys attacked the ship that had kidnapped Sirius, eating the entire crew, with a scared confused Sirius being all that was left. Tethys decided to take him back to her personal cave, due to growing interested in boy with the cloth around his eyes.

Eventually, Sirius revealed what he was, and upon actually looking at the sea heiress for the first time, became flustered and smitten around her. The two eventually grew close (through a series of high seas shenanigans-) and eventually wed and had their daughter: Cala!
