20 questions for fic writers!
Tagged by @feralrookie! :D Thank you for the tag!!
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
10! (technically, kinda)
2. What's your total ao3 word count?
379,547
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Just Bungou Stray Dogs! It's also the first fandom I've written for, actually. :D
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
This is how it feels to take a fall (Dazai goes feral, time shenanigans)
Plate :( (Dazai breaks a plate, experiences emotions)
Dazai and the Moving Detective Agency (Howl's Moving Castle AU)
Chuunyaa's Pawsitively Catastrophic Day (Chuuya is turned into a cat, it's short and pretty much just shenanigans)
Wish in one hand (First fic I wrote, and the first one I posted — Dazai has emotions about handholding)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to, but I've been absolutely terrible at it lately — whenever I'm particularly stressed I start worrying that the negative emotions are going to leak through into what I'm writing and make my tone sound weird, so then I end up turtling in on myself and not saying anything at all, no matter how much I want to engage with people. It's a bad habit, and I want to work on it, so I'm gonna try to catch up on comments! (I treasure every single one of the ones I receive, so for anyone who has left a comment and hasn't gotten a response from me yet, thank you and I am very sorry about my inability to form words in a timely manner skdjfksd)
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably An Unsent Letter, since it's pretty much just a short snippet of Dazai being sad while he's leaving the mafia. And even with that one, I have in my head that skk still get together after the four years apart, I just didn't write it. I am dreadful with sad endings — although the ending to "This is how it feels to take a fall" is a little bittersweet, perhaps.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hmm...I'm gonna say Dazai and the Moving Detective Agency, because it's the one with the longest buildup, so I think it has the most catharsis, at least for me! But I tend to give all of my fics happy endings because, as established, I am a wimp when it comes to hardcore angst. I will say that Zut Alors I Have Missed One is probably a contender for happiest as well, just because that fic had no angst whatsoever and was just Unhinged
8. Do you get hate on fic?
Nope! Everyone's been lovely! I have gotten some for my art, but honestly it was pretty toothless and I couldn't take it seriously lol
9. Do you write smut?
...Yeh. :0 There was an attempt, at least — one fic, and I made it anonymous (so on the extreme off-chance that anyone notices a discrepancy between my total ao3 wordcount listed here and the summed up wordcounts of the fics viewable on my profile, that's why!) It's also another fic I need to finish, I hit my writing roadblock with that one at the same time as all my others, and it's almost doneeee I just need my brain to cooperate >:|
10. Do you write crossovers?
Not any proper crossovers, only things like the Howl AU and the Little Mermaid AU, where I took the settings/plots and put in BSD characters.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
...Possibly? I'm not actually sure, I've given a couple people permission, but I'm not sure if anything came of that, I haven't heard one way or another :0 I do have a tendency to use puns, which I realize might make things difficult for translations
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, not so far — and given how tempestuous my schedule has been, it'll probably be a while before I attempt anything like that! Sounds fun, though
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
...I mean, it's gotta be soukoku, because for all that I've enjoyed a lot of fictional pairings before (for example, Howl and Sophie specifically from the HMC books, Beatrice and Benedick from Much Ado About Nothing — I like bickering duos, what do you know — Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane, currently falling down the Hualian rabbithole because I'm reading Heaven Official's Blessing with my friend, and there's lots of other ones), for as much as I like all those, I haven't really had much of an urge to write anything for them.
So, purely in terms of me wanting to mess around with two characters and write them over and over and over again, it's really only skk! They hit the exact right combination of braincells, I guess lololol
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but probably won't?
Hmmm...honestly, most of my WIPs I still intend to finish at some point or another — first priority being the ones I've already started posting, of course! Although...just due to time constraints, I might not get around to writing the thief!Chuuya/detective!Dazai one I was planning a while back. (and I mean a WHILE lol) I didn't write very much of it, and honestly most of the reason I wanted to write it was for comedy — so maybe I'll turn it into a short comic series instead, because I do think some of the bits were funny :0
16. What are your writing strengths?
That's a hard one; I tend to look more at the ways I want to improve my writing then at what I like about it, and I nitpick just about everything I create, art and writing alike. But if I had to pick something, I would probably say dialogue? That tends to be what I write easiest, at least. I still want to get better at that too, though.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Descriptions and action scenes. I've been making myself write them more, so I think I'm slowly improving (the Howl AU has been great for that! It pushed me to write all sorts of scenes I wouldn't have normally :D ), but those two things remain what I get bogged down by the most.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Depends on the circumstances, I think? I'd include translations if I did. I do tend to include Japanese honorifics when I'm writing in the canon universe, because there's not really english equivalents and it feels like I'm leaving something out when I just do their names straight — although I did take them out when I was doing the Howl AU and the Little Mermaid AU, just as a setting thing.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Bungou Stray Dogs — like I mentioned in the ship section, this is the first fandom where I've really felt the urge. Although I did write things when I was little that very blatantly yoinked in various creatures and concepts from the things I was reading and watching, which resulted in stories with pirates and weeping angels and Ringwraiths all running around in the same place. But I didn't usually bother with bringing in actual characters from those pieces of media, or even using the settings, I just made ocs and had them run around in my own made up world.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
I like all of them for different reasons, but I think my favorite overall has to be Dazai and the Moving Detective Agency. It's the longest thing I've ever written, and when I started out I wasn't sure I'd be able to do it — so the fact that it's most of the way done (currently chipping away at the epilogue, it is getting to be a LOT of words) makes me really happy. And it's just been so much fun! Writing characters I hadn't before, piecing the world together, working out the magic system, writing Dazai being a mess and Chuuya being cool, it's all been a blast. And I seriously need to finish the epilogue, because the followups are living in my brain and they demand to be freed aksdfjksdjfk
But yeah! I'm not sure how many writers I know on here have already been tagged, so I'll just go open tags on this one! :D If any of y'all write and feel like doing this, then go for it!

AU-gust, Day 9: Cleaning Crew
A/N: Avengers Crossover and allusions to smut, ahoy!
This ended up way hurt/comfort/fluff than I anticipated and there were almost no sexy times? And it was definitely the Avengers cockblocking Eddie and not the other way around so if there's still interest in that, I could see me writing THAT AU in the future! I just wanted Steve to be properly appreciated, you know? Anyways, happy AU-gust Day 9!
“This is the weirdest NDA I’ve ever seen.”
“Question, how many NDAs have you seen?”
Nancy Wheeler’s pinched face glared at Steve through his Starkphone. “Enough.” She rolled her eyes at Steve and restarted her perusal of the hefty contract Steve had emailed over to her (that she’d insisted on printing and making notes on, because even ten years removed from high school, Nancy Wheeler was thorough.) “There’s some things here regarding interpersonal relationships that seem a little unprecedented.”
“But?” Steve Harrington echoed, his eyebrows near his hairline.
“But you are dealing with the world’s first literal superhero team so these probably aren’t unreasonable requests,” she finished between gritted teeth.
“Great, so I can sign it then.”
“Steve,” Nancy sighed, and she pinched her nose between her eyes, “are you sure you want to do this? If it’s a matter of money - ”
“It’s not, Nance. Neither one of us has to work,” Steve argued back and hey, he wasn’t wrong. The government had been obscenely generous in their payouts after they’d finally defeated Vecna. And, okay, was it a little weird that instead of going to a fancy school or kickstarting his musical career or buying a weed farm that Steve rented a normal apartment and put the rest away into an investment fund? Maybe. Did he need to work, let alone work as a glorified cleaning service for the one percent? No, not at all.
But maintaining one of his (recently-divorced) mother’s properties had turned into a prosperous career because hey, it turns out all of those years spent cleaning up after the kids (and the interdimensional monsters they kept as pets) meant that he was, like, really good at cleaning. (And he was still incredibly insecure about his intelligence, or lack-thereof, and he didn’t want to be the only one who didn’t get into the dream school he applied for.)
And now he’d been personally asked – by Pepper Potts herself, of all people (who apparently played bridge with his mom?) – to take over the general care and upkeep of the personnel apartments at the newly re-christened Avengers Tower in New York City.
(Thank God he’d been out of town at one of Lucas’ basketball games when the whole attack happened; not that he wouldn’t have been willing to help but man, fighting monsters takes a toll when you’re not a superhuman. And he was only thirty.)
“This just feels like a cry for help, Steve. Do you really want to look after the world’s most difficult group of people?”
Steve stared at Nancy without blinking. “I babysat Henderson for years. I feel like I’m still babysitting Henderson.”
“I know, it’s just – I’m just worried that you’re not moving on, Steve.”
And, well, that hurt. Because sure, he didn’t have a doctorate like Robin or Dustin and he wasn’t playing professional sports like Lucas or spearheading global disability rights campaigns like Max or running a prosperous weed farm like Argyle or was part of the reporting and photography duo that was Nancy and Jonathan, nor was he part of a Grammy-winning rock band or a retired superhero or –
(It’s just, at the end of the day, Steve didn’t have really big dreams. After years spent fighting interdimensional monsters that liked to crawl their way out of walls, all of the other stuff – fame, fortune, money, a legacy – it didn’t really feel important anymore. All Steve wanted now, and truthfully, all he really wanted then, was a place to call home and people to belong to.
So honestly, it was really fucking rude of Nancy to judge him for just wanting that. And he was going to be working in close proximity with the Avengers of all people, like, how was that not success? Sure, he’d essentially be a live-in maid, but it wasn’t like he wasn’t doing important work.)
Steve didn’t say any of this to Nancy, of course; he didn’t need to. The looks on her face – shock, and then guilt – said enough.
“Steve - ”
“Thanks for your help, Nance,” he replied quickly, and then he hung up the phone.
(They were all split up now, they had been for years. And keeping them all together, staying together, being a family? That had been his dream for years.
But maybe it was time for a new dream now.
And maybe the Avengers Tower was the perfect place to start.)
/////
Working at the Tower meant that sometimes Steve felt like he was cleaning a frat house, mainly because the communal kitchen was usually covered in junk food wrappers and empty beer bottles and days’ old coffee mugs.
(“Trust me,” Pepper Potts had said drily the first time they’d had a check-in meeting, “this doesn’t come closeto a Tony Stark frat house party.”)
Still, he was on time every day, kept to himself, and most importantly didn’t sell out any information to any of the many, many media outlets that sent him offers. That, along with the fact that apparently Steve had an obscenely high security clearance (thanks, Hawkins!) meant that he was asked to officially move into the staff quarters of Avengers Tower within his first month of work.
(Which had the added effect of him actually meeting the Avengers and, well, it was a little weird.
Because if Steve didn’t know any better, he’d say that they were flirting with him. Or, even worse, that they were staking some sort of claim, and that didn’t make sense, right?
Right?)
/////
1. Tony Stark
“Hey honeybun, how’s it hanging?”
“To the left,” Steve replied absentmindedly as he disinfected the industrial-grade espresso machine.
Someone choked behind him and – shit.
He’d just said that to his BOSS.
(His incredibly hot, incredibly wealthy, incredibly smart and powerful boss.
SHIT.)
“Mr. Stark!” Steve exclaimed as he spun to face his employer. “Mr. Stark, I am so, so sorry, that was so inappropriate - ”
“First of all, please for the love of god call me Tony,” Mr. Stark – Tony – ordered with a smirk as he leaned on the kitchen’s island. He was dressed in an old AC/DC tee that sent a pang through Steve’s heart because wowit reminded him so much of Eddie (although that’s where their style similarities ended, because Eddie always wore loose bottoms and Tony’s pants were always fitted to accentuate his ass.
NOT THAT STEVE HAD BEEN LOOKING.)
“And second of all,” Tony purred as he leaned further across the island, getting right up into Steve’s space, “don’t tease me if you aren’t going to follow through, sweetheart.”
Steve didn’t need a mirror to tell him that he was flushing bright red. “I – I - ”
“Mister Harrington, sir,” JARVIS spoke – which was a fully functional AI that Dustin would die to know about – “there is a call waiting for you on your personal line, a Mister Edward Munson.”
Speak of the devil.
“Oh,” Steve murmured, his face cooling off as quickly as it had heated and he spun around, hands shaking as he looked for a towel. “Yeah, let me just get a towel - ”
“JARVIS, put the call on my line,” he heard Tony order, and then a warm hand was at his back. “I’ve got this, handsome.”
Steve turned just in time to see Tony shoot him a wink and pick up his phone. “Eddie Munson, huh? I’ve heard a lot about you,” Tony started and then he was gone, disappearing out of the kitchen and towards his lab.
“I – JARVIS?”
“Mister Stark is a mystery to behold,” the AI replied with a sigh. “How about a glass of champagne?”
You know what? Fuck it.
“That sounds great, J.”
2. Steve Rogers
“ – and I said, ‘excuse me, but only one of us outsmarted some leftover commie bastards at the age of ten and it wasn’t you, Professor.’”
Steve snorted, listening as Erica detailed her most recent argument – and victory – with her prick of an international relations professor. (A few days after his weird interaction with Tony in the kitchen, he’d been granted access to accept personal calls in the main Avengers spaces, which meant that he had more time to catch up with his friends while cleaning which was a blessing because some of the dusting in this place? Took hours.)
“Doesn’t that break your NDA?”
“Please,” Erica snorted over the living room’s loudspeakers, “I’ve got Owens wrapped around my finger, just like you with a certain member of the one percent.”
“Sorry, what?” Steve paused mid-wipe, looking confusedly at the now-gleaming metallic coffee table in front of him. “What are you talking about?”
“Tony Stark, your knight in iron armor?” Erica replied in her best I’m-talking-to-an-idiot-right-now voice. “Or did you forget that he’s screening your calls?”
“He’s screening my what?”
“Please, we all heard about his little talk with the Nerd King,” she scoffed and oh yeah, he’d forgotten about that. (Honestly, he had no idea what those two had even talked about; when he asked Tony, the older man had changed the subject and ordered super fancy sushi instead.) “Now, if you had a bodyguard like that back at Starcourt, maybe you wouldn’t have gotten your ass kicked by the Russians.”
“What Russians?”
Steve didn’t scream, but he might have let out a high-pitched noise of surprise at the sound of Captain America’s voice. He turned around to find Steve Rogers standing at attention in the living room, his eyes glaring at the speakers overhead.
“Steve,” Erica’s voice echoed slowly, “am I hearing Captain America right now?”
“Just Steve Rogers, ma’am,” the tall blonde replied automatically.
“And just how long have you been there, Just Steve Rogers?”
“Long enough. Now, what is this about the Russians?” He asked, and his piercing blue eyes dropped onto Steve’s face and his heart was beating fast because he was nervous and for no other reason.
“Seriously? How do you not know? Haven’t you read Steve’s file?” Erica asked incredulously and okay, this conversation needed to be done immediately.
Piercing blue eyes grew shocked and Captain Rogers looked, well, sick to his stomach. “You have a file?”
“Okay!” Steve jumped up before this could spiral any further out of hand. “Erica, it was great talking to you, I’ll call you later, uh, Captain Rogers - ”
“Please, call me Steve.”
“Right, Steve, there’s nothing to be, uh, worried about - ”
“She said Russians,” Cap pointed to the ceiling, “so there’s definitely something to be worried about. Does Tony know about the Russians?”
“I’m sorry, did somebody say my name?” Tony popped his head into the room because of course he was also nearby.
“Did you know about this?”
“I know a lot of things, Cap, you’re going to have to be more specific.”
“Did you know that Steve was attacked by Russians?”
“Steve was what?!”
(Steve was then treated to the sight of Iron Man and Captain America reading his security file, staring at him in shock, and then stomping off to do something about their fury? The last part of that entire thing didn’t make sense, but JARVIS sent him some whiskey so hey, it could have been worse.
And if he let Captain Rogers tuck an extra blanket around him during movie night, well, that was just his business.)
3. Natasha Romanoff (and Clint Barton)
“I heard you lost a fight with some Russians.”
“JESUS!” Steve startled, barely stopping himself from dropping Tony’s mother’s expensive China all over the floor. (The porcelain set hadn’t been looked at in years and Pepper wanted to use it for the next investors meeting, so of course this is when the infamous Black Widow approached him.)
“Okay, first of all,” he said after he had set down the dishware and turned to face the smirking redhead, “I didn’t lose the fight, I knocked one out.”
“And then you got surrounded, captured, and were tortured for a total of two hours in a hidden bunker,” she finished. (How did she get her eyebrow to quirk like that? And why did he feel like she was flirting with him but also being mean?)
(And how could he get that skill?)
“I – yeah, you’re not wrong about that,” Steve muttered, glancing away from Natasha. “At least we all made it out alive. And we survived the whole Hawkins earthquake thing.”
Natasha snorted and murmured something under her breath that sounded like Russian but also sounded like metal and frankly didn’t make a lot of sense. She cleared her throat and spoke up and, well, whatever she said before must not have been important. “It’s a good thing you have us to train you.”
“Yeah,” he murmured absentmindedly. Then –
“Wait, what?”
Which is how Steve started spending two hours out of every afternoon “training” with Natasha in the official Avengers’ sparring room. Honestly, he wasn’t sure how much good it was doing, given that “training” mainly consisted of Natasha throwing him around the room and giving him bruises.
(Okay, that he was into, and she knew it too, judging by the wink she’d send him every time he headed off to the showers.)
After a few weeks, when she’d deemed him “competent” enough, she had Clint Barton start “assisting” as well, meaning there were two of them beating him up now which meant twice the embarrassment and twice the bruises.
(And twice the amount of time jerking off in the shower.)
(This was really starting to get out of hand.)
4. Thor and Bruce Banner
“This is really starting to get out of hand.”
“What is?” Robin asked as she poured the last of her Flaming Hot Cheeto dust into her mouth. She was the first person Steve had been able to secure a visitor’s pass for; Dustin was next on the list, followed by Max and Erica and then the rest of the gang (although according to JARVIS they were running into some sort of problem with Eddie’s pass, which could take up to an additional two months? He didn’t fully understand it, JARVIS had told him during breakfast a few days ago and he’d gotten distracted by Natasha throwing knives at Clint’s apple strudel and Steve accidentally breaking the toaster again.)
Steve grimaced as he watched her lick her fingers. “You mean aside from your Cheeto addiction?”
“Hey, this isn’t an addiction, I can stop any time,” she replied with a snort before tossing her empty bag at Steve.
(Gross.)
“Sorry, what were you saying dingus? Something about things getting out of hand?”
“I don’t know, I just,” Steve set down his feather-duster (that he hadn’t even been using, he’d just been tossing it around like his old ice cream scooper) and got close enough to Robin so she could hear his whisper, “I might be reading things wrong, but I’m almost getting the feeling that they’re into me or something?”
Robin frowned. “Who, Eddie?”
“Eddie?” Now it was Steve’s turn to be confused. “No, the Avengers.”
“The AVENGERS?” Robin squeaked just as the door to the elevator banks opened. Steve and Robin whipped around to see Thor enter the main atrium with Dr. Banner on his heels.
“Steve!” Thor shot him a blinding smile and strutted over. Upon reaching Steve he wrapped him up in a hug and lifted him off the ground.
“Hey Thor!” Steve wheezed, trying to pat what he could of Thor’s back.
“How I have missed your countenance, my friend,” Thor boomed, and then he was setting Steve back on the ground –
And kissing him on the lips.
Thor leaned back and beamed, ignoring the fact that Steve was openly gaping at him. “It is good to be home.”
“Yeah? Yeah,” Steve breathed before shooting a quick look at Robin who looked completely and totally dumbfounded.
“And you must be the Lady Robin!” Thor said, turning his mega-watt smile upon Robin who flushed bright red. “Steve has told us of your exploits and your intellect. You would do well amongst the heroes of Asgard.”
“Thank you? I mean, thank you,” Robin squeaked.
(If Steve wasn’t in a state of complete and utter shock, he might have laughed at her, but he couldn’t move.)
“I have also seen the flag of your people,” Thor continued, like he didn’t notice Robin’s utter embarrassment, “and I have a lovely friend named Val who is searching for a paramour of her own. Do you think you would be interested? I could arrange a meeting.”
“Val. Val? As in - ”
“Valkyrie, yes,” Dr. Banner finally cut in sheepishly. “Also, hi, I’m Dr. Banner.”
Robin could only muster up a wave.
“Uh, hi, hi Bruce,” Steve shook his head, forcing himself to get it together it was only a kiss.
“Hi Steve, good to see you,” Bruce replied, and now he was bright red and well apparently Thor was the only person who wasn’t blushing right now and Steve needed to get a handle on this stat.
“That would be great, Thor!” Steve cut in, saving Robin from having to respond. “Robin’s going to be in town for a few more days.”
“Wonderful!” Thor said, turning back to beam at Steve. “I shall invite Val for dinner tomorrow but for now, I shall allow you to return to your revelry. Lady Robin,” he said with a bow towards Robin and then, turning to face Steve, he shot Steve a smug wink. “Steve.” And with that Thor was gone, headed towards Tony’s lab with a still-blushing Bruce Banner hot on his heels.
Steve turned to stare at Robin.
Robin stared back at Steve.
“Holy shit.”
“Holy shit.”
5. The Team
Surprisingly – or unsurprisingly – Robin’s date with Val had gone really, really well; in fact, it had gone so well that Robin transferred her graduate credits to NYU in a matter of days and moved into the Tower as well.
(“Steve. Steve. She’s a literal alien warrior goddess. Who cares where I work? I don’t even need to work.”
Still, the NYU transfer went incredibly smoothly, so smoothly that Steve confronted a certain genius billionaire playboy philanthropist about it. Tony had denied any input and distracted him with more sushi and a thorough tour of his sportscars which had ended up lasting for hours.)
Anyways, with Robin now living as an occupant of the Tower and the rest of the Avengers fully settled in and in agreement on a chore chart, Steve was starting to wonder just why he was still employed; like, what purpose was he serving? He really did try to stay on top of the cleaning, but the others were pitching in almost constantly, and it was a miracle if he was responsible for cooking even one meal a day.
“I just don’t get it,” he finally said to Robin on a particularly hot day in July. They were the sole occupants of the Tower’s rooftop infinity pool (as the Avengers proper were spending the day in a series of meetings), so this was the closest Steve was going to get to having a private conversation with Robin.
(Like, he was really, really glad that Val was so obviously head over heels for his best friend, but it definitely cut down on his and Robin’s cuddle time.)
“Don’t get what, dingus?”
Steve shrugged and ran a wet hand through his drying hair. “I don’t know, why I’m still here? I mean, they aren’t really using me as a cleaner anymore, and I mean, Bruce is a way better cook than me and he’s pretty much taken over so, like, what am I even doing here?”
Robin turned and pushed up her sunglasses so they were making eye contact. “Seriously? You’re serious right now.”
Steve nodded.
“You really don’t see it?”
“See what?”
Groaning, Robin slid her sunglasses back onto her face and turned back towards the horizon. “I’m not going to be the one to spell it out for you, dingus. You’re going to have to do this on your own. Or, better yet, why do you just ask?”
“Uh, maybe because I don’t want to get fired?”
(Robin shoved his head underwater at that which, frankly? Was incredibly rude.
He got his revenge later by knocking her into the pool after she’d finally dried off.)
+ 1 Bucky Barnes
Being fresh off of a highly-advanced plane-ship-thing from Wakanda meant that Steve hadn’t seen a whole lot of James “Bucky” Barnes. He’d sat next to him at dinner a few times, shared a couch during their re-watch of Game of Thrones, even sparred a bit at Natasha’s direction during Steve’s “training,” but they hadn’t really talked, which made the fact that after Steve’s un-helpful swim with Robin, he found said super soldier waiting for him in the hallway outside of his bedroom.
“Bucky, hi,” Steve nodded, rubbing his towel across the back of his neck. “Sorry, did you need something? Is there a problem with - ”
“No problems, doll, I just wanted to have a chat,” the dark-haired man purred, and Steve?
He felt his stomach tangle up in knots.
“A-about what, exactly?”
Bucky hummed and uncrossed his arms, the vibranium arm shimmering under the light. “Well, a little birdie told me you had some questions about what your place is here,” he said, a playful sparkle in his eye. “And,” Bucky stepped closer and backed Steve up until Steve was leaning against the door to his own apartment, “since it seems that my teammates haven’t made your position entirely clear, I thought I would take matters into my own hands.”
Steve didn’t even get a sound out before Bucky was surging forward, planting the sort of kiss on Steve that he knew he’d never recover from because for as forceful and passionate as it was, it was gentle too: the way Bucky’s cybernetic arm wrapped around Steve’s back and help him up; the way his other hand cupped the side of Steve’s face; the way Bucky hummed, like Steve’s lips were the sweetest thing he’d ever tasted;
The way he lifted Steve up and kicked open the door.
“I – I - ” Steve panted out as the door swung shut behind them. “I still - ”
“You’re home, doll,” Bucky murmured against Steve’s lips. “That’s what you are.”
And, well.
Steve couldn’t not kiss him then.
(And he couldn’t not give him every piece of himself in return underneath his silken sheets.)
Four Months Later
“Okay, now this is the weirdest NDA I’ve ever seen.”
Jonathan snorted from across the room as he fiddled with his camera.
“Hey, you were the one that wanted the exclusive,” Steve replied. “I could have told you it would be more intensive.”
“Yeah, yeah, and who’s fault is that?” Nancy teased with a glimmer in her eye. “I’m not the househusband here.”
“Umm excuse me, that’s my job?” Robin piped up from her spot on Val’s lap. “Steve is obviously the trophy wife.”
“Hey!” Steve exclaimed, but then a pair of godly arms wrapped around his waist, a cybernetic arm wrapped around his shoulders, and a pair of expensive lips pressed a hot kiss to his cheek.
“Best trophy wife a guy could ask for,” Tony crooned in his ear and then laughed at Steve’s blush.
(His partners weren’t the good guys, they were evil.)
“Dude, Eddie would shit a brick if he saw this,” Jonathan said with another snort.
“Oh, how is - ”
“Who do you speak of? I am not familiar,” Thor cut Robin’s question off loudly, his thundering voice vibrating up and down Steve’s back.
“I think he said Freddie - ”
“Oh, like Freddy Krueger – Cap, we need you to watch A Nightmare on Elm Street - ”
“ – after the shoot! Do you think Tony will order us sushi again?”
“ – Steve first, Steve, are you in the mood for sushi?”
Steve felt Nancy nudge him, and he turned to see her smiling. “Hey. I’m proud of you.”
“Thanks, Nance,” Steve smiled back.
“It’s good to finally be home.”

AO3 Tag Game
Thank you for the tag @incandescentflower! Sorry it's taken an actual age for me to get round to it!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
I somehow have 47...
2. What is your AO3 wordcount?
556,173 words... a totally normal amount
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Bad Buddy, mostly . I wrote for a few others, almost a decade ago or longer, but Bad Buddy finally got me posting again! One day I might branch out... but we'll see haha!
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
The Fine Line Between Hormones and Home
A Soft Boy in Soft Sweaters
All that Gleams is Not Gold, but Some that Gleams Is
music is not in the notes, but in the silence between them
you can't lose a game you don't want to win
Actually, a couple of those are pretty surprising! 😂
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes! I always try to, though sometimes it might take me many months. I love to let people know that I appreciate the time they take in replying to my fics.
Fanfiction writing can be a pretty lonely endeavour. You're writing sommething that you hope is going to resonate with the fandom but until you put it out there, you can't know! So when I get comments, I want to respond in kind. For me, it helps with the feeling of a fandom community.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Priestly Duties - a Stucky fic where pre-serum Steve is a Catholic priest who gives into his desires for Bucky, but only once.
I didn't start it expecting it to turn out so angsty but the character kind of took it out of my hands!
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Pretty much all of the others? I'm actually a big happy endings girlie. If I had to pick one though, I'd probably pick Aroma-nce So Sweet because the boys have no family feud to contend with.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not often, but sadly, hate abounds despite out attempts to push it out of fandom spaces
9. Do you write smut? If so, which kind?
Do you want to know a secret? When I first started out in the Bad Buddy fandom, I had no plans on writing any smut for PatPran.
Then, less than three months after posting my first fic, I stumbled across a tumblr prompt and after that, the floodgates well and truly opened.
In terms of a 'kind', I'd say it tends to be on the explicit but wholesome side
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest crossover you’ve ever written?
I don't write crossovers exactly but I do steal concepts and scenarios from other shows to put my characters in haha.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I know
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! It was very flattering to be asked
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, though not a published one
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
Whatever I'm obsessed with in the moment, which is currently, of course, PatPran
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
My Bad Buddy Regency AU 🥲🥲 I just can't get it to come together…
16. What are your writing strengths?
I focus quite heavily on characterisation in my fics, I like to make them feel authentic to the original versions of themselves, even in an AU. I get quite a few compliments on it so I like to think I do pretty well haha
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Writing too much 😂😂 I can be a little unnecessarily verbose. I'd like to work on cutting it down a bit
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I've done it once or twice but I’m not very confident in it so I avoid it honestly, except for the odd word
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Ahhhh probably HP, a long, long time ago.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
I just went through my fic list to see if one jumped out but all I found was that they all have a soft spot for me in different ways haha.
I think in terms of how people reacted to them, The Fine Line and The Space Pirate and the Officer of the Law are the two that stand out. I had an amazing response from the fandom about those two so they're particularly special for me
---
Again, I'm not sure who's already done this so tagging a few people but sorry if this is one that you've already done!
@loooreleii @thebroccolination @toomoonfic @mendacity17 @Wolfsbane15 @itsmylifekay @geckoholic @paalove @nejineeee

Fic Writer Interview
I was tagged by @laviejaguardia. Thank you! 💕
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
89, but 12 of them are art only
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
724,869
3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
That’s His Name (Merlin) - 29.981
In the Winter of My Soul (Merlin) - 5.952
Just Have To Save The World (Merlin) - 4.343
Me Casa, Su Casa (X-Men) - 2.427
Most kudos for The Old Guard: Room for Love - 904
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to because I love them, and that’s why sometimes I fall into that trap of “I need to adequately convey how happy this comment made me, I can’t just say ‘thank you’’ and then I leave it for too long. Also sometimes I don’t have the spoons at that moment. But I appreciate every last one of them.
5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
I love angst, but I love a happy ending even more, so in my fic the angst usually gets resolved. A fic that regularly leaves people in tears, though, is At Samhain, but the ending has hope.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
So many happy endings! ☺️ One of the happiest might be my Merlin Age of Sail AU, The Seven Seas , which has a very happy ending after a lot of angst and heartache.
7. Do you write crossovers?
No, not really.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Not really personal attacks so much, but I have received snide comments, character bashing and absurdly wilful misinterpretations. And always on anon of course.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes, I do. I’m a proud alumni of multiple Pornathons in the Merlin fandom. When I write kink, it tends to be PWP of the kind that’s about losing control, or pushing the lines of taboos. In my longer or more plotty fic it’s more emotional, focused on the characters’ connection.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I once had someone write a fic that had the exact same plot down to locations and minor details and even almost the same dialogue as one I was posting. Like a (bad) rewrite. It was very weird.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, a few, which I’m ever so grateful for. 💕
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No. I’m honestly not sure how that would work for me. 😅
13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Joe/Nicky really is the fulfillment of all my shippy hopes and dreams. 😍 Beyond them, maybe Cherik. I like the drama. 😂
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
A Cherik bodyswap fic, set between XMFC and Days of Future Past, while Erik is imprisoned. I love the premise and what I have so far, but it’s been so long that I’ve been in that fandom.
15. What are your writing strengths?
Conveying emotions and believable dialogue
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Transitions and being overly dramatic, which is probably connected lol
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I do enjoy it in sprinkles, if it’s done well. Endearments, curses, stuff that mostly won’t need a translation footnote but grounds a character in a different cultural background.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
I wrote stuff before I knew about fanfiction. Before you could find (and easily post) stuff on the internet. But the first fic I wrote and posted was Harry Potter, gen with very, very heavy wolf star undertones 😅
19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?
I don’t really have an unfulfilled craving right now, and I tend to focus on one fandom, and even one ship almost exclusively, but I’m a little surprised at myself for never having written Sterek. 🤔
20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
That is so hard to pick, but two favourites are Shalom Malak for XMFC and If You Abide With Me for TOG
Tagging, but obviously only if they want to @falcon-fox-and-coyote @tobebbanburg @pinkninjapj @beepbeepsan @isabellehemlock 💗

Fic Author Interview
Thank you for the tag @hils79!
How many works do you have on AO3?
270 (as of right now)
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
2,888,650 (as of right now)
3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Wait, We're Married?! (The Devil Judge, Kang Yohan/Kim Gaon) - 1,543 kudos
Succulents and an Overprotective Kang Yohan (The Devil Judge, Kang Yohan/Kim Gaon) 1,243 kudos
Kang Yohan's Relaxing Day Off (The Devil Judge, Kang Yohan/Kim Gaon) - 844 kudos
Protect You (The Devil Judge, Kang Yohan/Kim Gaon) - 817 kudos
Kim Gaon Is Mine (The Devil Judge, Kang Yohan/Kim Gaon) - 761 kudos
I'm honestly still kinda surprised my Devil Judge fics are doing well, considering that I don't write for the fandom anymore
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I always do, unless they're rude, then they're just deleted. There's no point in fighting/arguing with someone who doesn't understand the story I'm trying to tell
5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Oh, my Chinese Paladin 4 fic Promise to Keep. It's one of my only fics that has Major Character Death, which is INCREDIBLY rare for me, but it's the only fic I've ever felt comfortable writing an MCD for because I was actually okay with the ending of the drama. But it won't ever happen again because I cried while writing this fic and I don't think I can go through it again
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
All of them but Promise to Keep
7. Do you write crossovers?
Yeah. I mainly do crossovers between Killer and Healer and S.C.I., but I've done crossovers with other dramas too
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I did, yeah, and made a whole fucking post about it because the person was really fucking rude and not only came for me, but for my readers and if you come for me, fine, I'll just delete the comment, but the moment you come for my readers I will fucking end you
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Nope
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I did, back when I wrote for the Untamed. Someone had took my The Untamed Moments and started posting it, word for fucking word, in Spanish over on Wattpad. Thankfully a reader told me about it and I got it taken down but to my knowledge, none of my fics since then have been stolen
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Oh yeah, a few. It makes me really happy/honored
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Waaaay back on AsianFanFics...haven't since then
13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Tumblr media
It's been almost 3 years and I'm still not normal about them
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I always finish my WIPs, for the most part. It's very rare that I don't
15. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue and anything that has to do with describing crime scenes or forensics. Or anything mafia related
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Run ons, maybe. But sometimes, you just gotta
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I never write full dialogue in other languages, but I will use words, like "gege" or "hyung". Sometimes, I'll curse in another language, if I know what it is (mainly in Japanese)
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
First proper fic was either for Dragonball or Black Butler
19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?
I don't know, no new fandom/ship has like...caught me and made me want to write. If I watch a new show, I mainly just like...want to make an au out of it for my current ships
20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written
My baby, my beloved, my Killer and Healer rewrite, right here: 恨君不似江楼月 | Killer and Healer.
It's a fic that I don't think I can ever top. The amount of time and effort and tears that I put into this fic...I just love it a lot. And I'm super proud of it. I mean, I love all my fics, don't get me wrong, but nothing can ever probably beat this fic
Tagging: @sunriseverse @clawbehavior @godotismissingx @fourth-quartet @ahhhnorealnamesallowed and any of my other writer friends who wants to play

Twenty Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by @staceymcgillicuddy @cyraclove and @bibiche007 thanks guys 💛💛💛
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
32! I can't believe it!
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
420,197 which is insane!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Stranger Things, hellcheer specifically
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Long Is the Road Out of Hell (dnd au)
The Interview (college/fake dating au)
Hold Onto Me (vampire au)
Cooking Up Something Sweet (rockstar social media au)
Waiting For This Moment (flower shop/tattoo parlor au)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! I try to respond to every single comment! They took the time to give me a comment, why wouldn't I take the time to thank them for it?
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
That's tough, because I always try to give hellcheer a happy ending - they deserve it! But Release My Inner Fantasy, despite being almost purely smut, definitely has the angstiest ending. (although it might be slightly cheating since it is part of an ongoing series, and I do intend to give them an eventual happy ending)
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Again, I love to write happy endings! So most of my fics are very happy at the close. But Hooked on a Feeling might be my most sappy-sweet ending. It's definitely one of my more lighthearted fics!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
honestly, no! the hellcheer fandom overall has been very kind to me. the closest I get to hate on fics is people wishing/asking me to do something different than I've already done (i.e. write an alternate ending because they didn't want A or B in it), which can be very discouraging. but I don't get that a lot!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do! However, I had never written actual smut in my life until this year, so I'm still pretty new at it
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Not really. The closest I've ever gotten to a crossover is crossover elements loosely integrated in a fic. Devil in the Woods, for example, uses bits and pieces from things like little red riding hood and beauty and the beast while remaining very much its own thing!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of! And I'd very much like to keep it that way
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
i don't think so! but i'd be honored if somebody did
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I haven't, but I have a lovely friend who betas for me on occasion and we bounce ideas back and forth so much it sometimes feels like cowriting ( @slumped-in-the-arms-of-fiction )
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
hellcheer, if you couldn't tell 😉
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I intend to finish every single wip I have going atm (As well as a few on the back burner lol). but sometimes it feels like i'm never going to finish them, especially when i'm on the very last chapters. why does it always work like that???
16. What are your writing strengths?
I feel like i'm pretty good at writing intimate scenes. and by that i mean scenes where not a lot's going on, where a small group of characters (usually two) can be together or have a conversation that doesn't do much for the plot but sheds a lot of light on the characters themselves (both to the readers and within the story between characters)
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I'm very undisciplined with writing habits, i don't write every day or have certain goals. i struggle to describe people and scenery in a concrete way that is integrative with the story itself.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
find a native speaker and get (and listen to) their feedback. whether it's tenses, phrases, or cultural tendencies, let someone who's actually the expert be the expert.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
hellcheer! unless you count me scribbling in my journal when i was about eight, writing a boxcar children story because i'd heard that they employed ghost writers and i thought "i could do that!" i wrote like half a dozen sentences, convinced i was going to become employed by the boxcar children publisher.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
honestly? probably Devil in the Woods. it's the one i go back to the most when i need a comfort read.
Tagging @slumped-in-the-arms-of-fiction @sloelimbs@ebongawk and anyone else who wants to join!

Thank you for the tag @krispyt <33
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
I have 7 under my name and 1 anon, although I'm just going to put it back under my name I think.
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
147,865
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Mostly for TBHK, but I have a couple for Genshin as well! However writing for TBHK is more comfortable for me
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Red String of fate (1,159)
Clean Slate (357) ((This is the fic under anon but I'm going to change it probably lol))
I love you, please don't go (204)
Under the Red Crescent Moon, I Could Hear the Demons Whispering (195)
Kindness from the Devil (185)
5. Do you respond to comments?
I used to, but honestly I'm terrible at it now. I don't go on my account very often anymore and I don't receive emails when I get comments (personal choice), so it can be a long time before I see if anyone's left anything. But I do always try to get back to them!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I love you, please don't go wins this I think.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Uhhh, I'm not really sure? But I'm going to go with chapter 20 of Red String of Fate. After so many near kisses throughout the fic, having HanaNene finally get their kiss makes this the happiest ending... Probably idk XD
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No, thank goodness.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Welllllll, I've tried to write smut. But I just don't have the knack for it, I can't handle the cringe while writing it and I can't read it back.
10. Do you write crossovers?
No and I never will. Nothing personal but I hate crossovers.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
My fics aren't good enough to steal lmao
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, but I'm open to it!
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
HanaNene, HanaNene, HanaNene!!
If the day ever comes where no one supports HanaNene, it's because I've died. I will never not love those 2.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I don't even have a proper name for this WIP, it's called Possession AU in my documents. It was a KouNene fic, but you could also see it as HanaNene although they are not end game :// It's a real shame, the fic almost has 8,000 words to it, but I just have no motivation to continue.
I also have another WIP called Boundary Bound Nene-chan, but I only got a few paragraphs in and never touched it again :// The concept was pretty cool as well, Nene wakes up inside a mysterious place (later discovered to be a boundary) with no memories. She meets a boy named Tsukasa, who informs her she's dead, and together they try to find a way out. This was leaning very heavily into Yandere Hanako, which is usually right up my alley, but yeah again no motivation.
Last one I'll share is a Scaramouche fic, the temporary title was 5 times Scaramouche failed to be human and 1 time he didn’t. It's self-explanatory I think, but I started it before his backstory cutscene was revealed, and I lost confidence and motivation since what I was writing didn't match it at all. This one will 100% never be finished sadly.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Hmm, it's hard to say. I think I have good ideas and concepts, and I can keep the flow of the story moving at a decent pace. I also think I do well with character interaction? Maybe? Idk.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Descriptions. I am so so so bad at describing things, I think I find it hard to actually put myself into the scene, so I struggle to really get into the details of the environment and such. My paragraphs usually are on the smaller side, which I hate because I really want to immerse my readers.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
English is the only language I know and I do not trust Google Translate ^^;
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Technically speaking, it's Sonic The Hedgehog lmao, I wrote fics for that fandom in my very early teens on Fanfiction.net. No, I will never reveal my account or share what I wrote, I will actually die before I do that.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Hmm... Since the vamp au is unfinished, I will say it's chapter 21 of Red String of Fate. It is the only fic I have ever written and actively decided to go back and willingly read multiple times without dying of cringe... I just like it I suppose aha
Once again, thanks for the tag Krispy!! I'm not really sure who to tag, but I'll go for @milkteamoon @insipidenvy and @wingsonghalo. Obviously no pressure!! And anyone who reads this is free to join in ^_^

Twenty Questions for Fic Writers
Whew, I've been so slammed, but I really want to do this! Got tagged byyyyy @signiorbenedickofpadua @valeriianz and @themirokai — thanks so much!
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
35
2. What's your total Ao3 word count?
402,826
3. What fandoms do you write for?
The Magnus Archives
The Sandman
Malevolent
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Music When You Speak — 762 Love and Nonsense at Leitner Press — 644 The Gilded Cup — 371 Hiding in Plain Sight — 316 Invoke Me Under My Stars — 314
5. Do you respond to comments?
I try to respond to most of them! Sometimes if it's someone commenting through an entire fic I only reply to a couple of them, but generally even if it's an old fic I try to reply.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Technically Above and Beyond, but it's a "deleted scene" from a long fic with a very happy ending. So if we're going by more self-contained fics, probably You're Gonna Catch Hell. Both are short and smutty and the angst isn't very intense. I'm not very well-practiced in unhappy endings.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
See last question lol. I think the end of Belong to Me is probably the highest net happiness for at least four characters in my longest running AU.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not really. I got one comment on an unfinished fic (that had been marked "on indefinite hiatus") with a passive aggressive comment about not getting anymore updates. It was the first comment I'd ever gotten on that particular fic. 😂😂😂
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Absolutely. As much as possible. I write vanilla and BDSM, although there are usually lots of feelings involved. I've done mostly MM but recently branched out into FF.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Not yet
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! I wrote The Gilded Cup and Invoke Me Under My Stars with the ever-talented @beholdme, who is the reason why I'm in the Sandman fandom in the first place.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Tim and Gerry from The Magnus Archives. They never meet in canon and weren't a super common ship, but I've written almost 200k words about them, and I've been seeing them more often on Tumblr and AO3! 👀 I was *starving* for fanart of them while I wrote that first long fic. Not even art for *my* fic—just the ship in general! And now @occudo in particular is watering my crops on the reg. 💜🖤💜🖤 Bless you and all you do for the fandom.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I really hate to leave things unfinished, but that one that only got the single passive aggressive comment most likely (it's called "You Can Only Watch" but I'm not going to link it because I'm meh about it). It was my first multichapter fic and had an OC MC. They say that's usually a self-insert, but, spoiler alert, they were an Extinction avatar and were going to die horribly, so I don't know what that says about me. I ended up leaning so hard into researching and writing environmental horror and eschatology and I gave myself a full-on existential crisis. It was a pretty cool horror idea, honestly, but I think I traumatized myself into becoming a contemporary romcom writer. Whoops.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I'm pretty good with pacing, plot, and characterizations.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I'm not a big poet, so I'm having to work pretty hard on developing more descriptive and figurative language skills. Also it took some work for me to soften my tone in general, because I can be kind of glib and/or methodical sometimes.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Hasn't really come up for me yet
19. First fandom you wrote for?
The Magnus Archives. I've only been doing this since 2021 👀
20. Favorite fic you've written?
I feel like I've become a much better writer since this one, but Hiding in Plain Sight was one of the most formative writing experiences I've ever had. I put my entire heart into it, and I learned so much about writing and about myself while I worked on it.
I'm kind of late to the party on this, so I'm not going to tag anyone, but if someone else wants to do it, please do!

Fic Writing 20 Questions
Thanks for the tags @khorazir and @raina-at
How many works do you have on AO3?
13
2. What’s your total AO3 wordcount?
268,623
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Sherlock (BBC). I may try my hand at a Merlin fic in the next year, but we’ll see ...
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Beautiful Pictures
A Week in November
Lines in the Sand
The Man with the Cartier Frames
That Time of Year
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! I love getting comments, so it’s the least I can do (even if it takes a few days). I love when authors respond to my comments, so it’s only fair.
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Like many of the people answering these questions, I don’t write angsty endings. I considered it for Jam (I almost didn’t include the epilogue) but I love a happy ending.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
All my fics have happy endings. If I had to pick one as “happiest”, I’d say The Man With the Cartier Frames.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I have not, luckily. I’ve had a weird comment or two where I’ve thought “why did you tell me that”, but nothing super negative.
9. Do you write smut?
Not really? I’ve written some mature scenes that allude to things, but don’t go into detail.
10. Do you write crossovers?
No. I have particular objections, but I doubt I ever will.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, Lines in the Sand has been translated into French and That Time of Year into Russian.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I haven’t. I don’t object to the concept, but I’m not sure I’d be a great collaborator given my current writing style. I think I’m better at betaing which gives me a way to work with other fic writers.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
This is really tough. I feel like it’s okay if your “all time” favourite ship changes every five or ten years. I mean, I am a very different person at 40 than I was at 25. My favourite to write is definitely Johnlock—they have a great dynamic and are both really interesting characters in their own rights. So, they are definitely up there. The other ship that comes to mind in terms of those that have really stood the test of time for me is Goren/Eames from Law & Order:CI (a very small fandom). Goren has a lot of Sherlockian traits and Eames is just incredibly cool (and both actors are gorgeous, which doesn’t hurt!).  I discovered Merlin in the last year or two and really like Merthur (honestly, I also really like Mergwenthur which I never thought would be my thing, but Gwen is so lovely), but it’s too early to tell if that will last long enough to be on my all time list!
15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Corsi, my NHL Johnlock AU. I have a couple chapters written, but I started it a long time ago and my writing style has changed a fair bit since then. I think I’d want to go back and rewrite the first chapter, but that seems like a waste … so, instead, I will just leave it to languish.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I write Parentlock really well. I have young kids, so it’s relatively easy for me to make kids read age appropriate (which they often don’t in stories, be they fic or published). I hope I am also able to convey that delicate balance that parents feel—namely adoring their kids with every once of your being while wanting to throttle them.  Basically, I think I can write believable kids and believable parents.
I also think I am okay at creating cases, mainly because I become a bit obsessed with making the pieces fit.  I like internal consistency!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I can’t plot out a fic well enough that I can post anything before it’s done. Which means, that I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to write a truly long fic (say longer than 50K words).  To have the motivation to write something that long, I think I would need the dopamine hit from posting and getting feedback. But, I just can’t see me ever posting a fic before it’s completely written, because of how often I go back and revise as I write. Particularly for fics with any sort of case—I’ll have the loose parameters of the case set out, but the details won’t emerge until I write. Which may mean I have to go back and edit earlier content to make those details work (internal consistency!). Even things like John’s work schedule or the timing of a phone call or what time Rosie gets out of school may change a half dozen times as I write to make the other pieces work.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
I think it’s fine, but it’s best if you have a half-decent knowledge of that language. The only language I would use is French, should that ever come up.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
X-Files (this also seems to be a common theme)
20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
Ugh. This is an impossible question. I really like Beneath the Surface—I love epistolary fics and I think I did pretty well with text exchanges in that one. I am also pretty proud of Jam. So, I suppose those would be my faves.
Hmmmm, I think I am late to the game here so anyone interested in doing this, consider yourself tagged!

Twenty questions for fic writers
From a few people!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
At the moment 59 under my name, plus a couple of anonymous ones for fic exchanges that haven’t hit the author reveal date yet.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
345,058
3. What fandoms do you write for?
At the moment: Rings of Power, Silmarillion and LOTR. My other big fandom is Babylon 5, although my much-loved WIP for that one is currently on hiatus.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
I don’t think these are my top 5 fics by a metric I care about given my love for small fandoms and obscure niche content alongside the Haladriel juggernaut stuff, but with that in mind:
- Shadow-Bride, my big Haladriel WIP, my baby, my love, my precious;
- A man is a god in ruins, my first multi-chapter Haladriel, which started life as a short ficlet to be the ‘+1’ of a 5 Things fic and took on something of a life of its own;
- Silver Queen, my first half-Maia Celebrian story - really I just wanted to give her enough half-Maia powers to blast ambushing orcs down a mountain;
- Five times Halbrand’s secret got revealed, my second (I think?) fic for Rings of Power. One of the scenarios turned into Shadow-Bride, and the +1 scenario in which Galadriel doesn’t learn his secret (well… arguably…) is ‘A man is a god in ruins’.
- Lady of the Seas, second part of a Haladriel two-parter; Haladriel smut with Sauron doing a lot of thinking about Ossë and Uinen.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to! I got behind at one point and had to declare temporary amnesty. I am so grateful for almost all (see answer to q8) the comments I get, and I love responding to either discuss things or just say ‘thank you’. I never manage to find time to do it as soon as I would like.
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
This would probably be one of my Babylon 5 ones - either ‘A spirit haunts the year’s last hours’, an AU drabble where the Minbari took Valen prisoner and now Delenn has her own pet god figure; or ‘MIssing’, about Delenn searching for Lennier after s5 and not finding him.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
‘Tar-Mairon of the Shire’, a Rings of Power AU where the Harfoots really did find Sauron. Does what it says on the tin. My summary for this one is ‘Hobbits make everything better, including Dark Lords’ and I stand by that.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Yes! A ridiculous amount! I have had multiple comments inviting me to harm myself in various graphic ways over making the wrong fictional characters kiss. I get the most hate for writing Celeborn in a way the haters have decided is mean to him (?? he’s fine!) and particularly on my G-rated baby ficlets. Who can even fathom this, honestly.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do, and mostly the ‘overly wordy’ kind.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I was going to say yes but apparently nothing I have on AO3 is a crossover and I can’t remember what I’ve written in my pre-AO3 days. So: yes I think so! once! But alas, can’t remember what.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not the whole fic in a copy/paste sense, but: yes. I won’t lie, it was pretty weird and unpleasant to discover, but once I’d got over the initial “?!” reaction I saw it a little differently - that kind of plagiarism was obviously coming from an author who was insecure in their own abilities, was deeply jealous of mine, and who ultimately was missing out on much of the actual fun of writing. What’s even the point of fanfic if you aren’t coming up with your own work? It’s not like we’re getting paid! How unsatisfying must it be to have readers like your work and know it’s actually someone else’s thing they’re liking anyway, right? So I ended up in a place of taking it as a compliment in the ‘imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness’ sense.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes - one of my Rings of Power fics got translated into Russian. I am very happy, and very impressed by the translator’s work.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Yes and it didn’t go well and I nearly fell out with my co-writer friend over it because we had different schedules and different takes on the story, so: never again.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
It’s probably one I haven’t even written for: Jack and Irina in Alias. It’s got everything I love about ships! They’re enemies working for rival organisations, they’re married, they try to kill each other, they can’t quite bear to do it, they have to sort out awkward co-parenting arrangements, they plot, they dance, there are stabbing attempts… honestly, SpyParents forever.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I plan to finish all my WIPs! I only have three at the moment: Shadow-Bride; Set Fire to the Stars (Babylon 5 pre-series Minbari worldbuilding with Branmer, who I love); and All The Kinds of Alive You Can Be (Rings of Power Sauron/Celeborn where Sauron shapechanges into Galadriel).
16. What are your writing strengths?
Especially these days (I’m a fandom old) I like that I’m happy to try writing new things based on thinking it would be interesting and I’d like to go with it, and not being intimidated by finding the fandom too scary or writing in a different direction to popular fanon or getting a baffled “that’s… nice… I guess?” reaction from my usual readers. I love writing Rings of Power Celeborn; I love writing fics about him raising half-Maia Celebrian; I get untold fury about this from a lot of the Twitter fandom youth, but I continue to have fun :)
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I have tons about my actual writing (dialogue, endings, failure to come up with titles I’m happy with) but along the lines of the above answer: I wish I was better at doing long multi-part fics, because the ones I’ve done I have had loads of fun with but I usually stick to one-shots because I don’t feel like the energy of the story will keep going long enough.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
A few of my fics across fandoms have language as important, and specifically, different languages belonging to different people/who’s speaking and what they’re speaking in. My Silm-LOTR Galadriel/Celeborn fic ‘Softest of Tongues’ is a lot about Quenya and Sindarin, and how inadequate translation can be - one of the tags is ‘Sapir-Whorf hypothesis as a metaphor for the pain at the heart of your marriage’.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Poltergeist: the Legacy, back in the late 1990s. Fandom OLD. (I am glad none of those stories nor the forums they were written in have survived the ravages of internet time, I tell you.)
20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
I have a few and the thing they all have in common is ‘I am really pleased I was able to make this thing I like work’. So:
- Tar-Mairon of the Shire (Rings of Power), for combining hope and Hobbits and History of Middle-earth, in a way that is both fluff and also genuinely sincerely written Sauron redemption;
- Civil Twilight (Rings of Power), for getting Haladriel and Galadriel/Celeborn into the same fic and for a take on Celeborn I’m really happy with;
- Softest of Tongues (LOTR and Silm), for writing Galadriel/Celeborn in a way that got the exact right language-as-symbolism and the tone of sadness and love and hope and grief that I was trying to hit;
- Deceptions (Babylon 5), for being a short fic that still captures Lennier going from protective to horrified in realising how terrifying his boss is (and also for Delenn making Neroon bow to her)
- Things That Go Bump In The Night (Ghosts), because I was not sure if I could write comedy fic for a comedy, and it turns out I could!
Tagging: @bad-surprise @stitchingatthecircuitboard @liminal-zone @myrsinemezzo @ophidion @formerlyir @hazelmaines @wyrd-syster and anyone else who wants to do it!

20 Q's for Fic Writers
tagged by: @chameliyun, thank you so much <33
1 - How many works do you have on ao3?
131 works so far ! 97 of them are for haikyuu!! and i cannot wait to celebrate my 100 hq fics hehe
2 - What's your total ao3 word count?
323,624 words :0 i didn't think it'd be that much, i tend to write short things, i'm excited to have written so many words !!!
3 - What fandoms do you write for?
i have posted for haikyuu, death note, bnha, yuri on ice, free, breath of fire iv, and fairy tale for some unknown reason XD but i have unposted / unfinished fanfic for a bunch of other things like hunter x hunter or fma
4 - What are your top five fics by kudos?
chat me up has always been my most popular fic and tbh ? yeah i see why XD it is one of the most fun and chatfics were popular at the time. after that come ...or not, blue like the sky, silent trust and saw my momma dad cheese
5 - Do you respond to comments?
yes !! fandom is a community first and foremost for me, and posting is also a way to interact. comments are immensely lovely to get and answer !!
6 - What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
ooh probably love me right ?? it's kinda the angstiest i've written... ever. but some nights is also. bad end. solely by virtue of being post apo and not very optimistic about it. i wanna rewrite it someday because i actually really liked that AU and it's not the best right now hmmm
7 - What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
honestly hasetsu tour guides (which is a series but shhh) is the happiest thing i've written ?? it's not the most fun in terms of plot but everyone is content with their life in a way i've not really written a lot
8 - Do you get hate on fics?
nope, not well known enough XD and i'm not complaining about it
9 - Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
i do ! i have no clue if there's a specific kind i stick to though, most of it isn't even posted or even written past heavy planning. trans cyborg smut is on its way though @notsuchasecret :3
10 - Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
i have written or co-written a NUMBER of crossovers. most are not on ao3 yet (or... ever...) but i have posted death note x snow white and hxh x little red riding hood, so. however i do think that owari no seraph x the frog princess (the russian fairy tale) is the wildest one so far !
11 - Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not to my knowledge, but that'd be kinda funny tbh ? imagine coming across your own obscure niche things in the wild. i'd almost be more disappointed it's not a new fic for my teeny fandom corner lmao
12 - What's the longest you've spent working on one fic? And the shortest?
the shortest would probably be a couple hours, for guardian of his king (written in a fugue state at like 3am, after Syb shared the drawing that inspired it. two of us fell in a trance btw, this was a POTENT artwork). the longest... i don't dare calculate... but it is measured in years and i haven't even started writing yet <3
13 - Have you ever co-written a fic before?
if you count detailed planning and extensive oral storytelling, many !! my best friend and i are very prolific behind the scenes, to her dismay XD. i thiiiiiink she is the only co-writer i have had ? but i LOVE doing group fics and i'd love to do it with other people
14 - What's your all-time favorite ship? From all fandoms?
"you ask questions i have no answers to" is what i was gonna say and then my brain went "well apart from bokuaka which has to be out of the competition-" so i may have an answer actually hahaha
15 - What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
oooh my god that naruto fountain of youth AU is never gonna be written. i have so so so much planned and i sift through and add more from time to time, but like... i pick my battles a little more wisely than this behemoth
16 - What are your writing strengths?
i'm not sure ! i do think writing dialogue is easier for me than most other things, and i love doing fun formatting / narrative constraints
17 - What are your writing weaknesses?
i forget to put down half of the words on the paper so my sentences make no sense and it's horrible to edit <- loves editing. doesn't love when i reread myself and every five sentences i have to think "who tf wrote this and what the hell does it mean. how do you go from here to there ??? oh wait i forgot a sentence again"
18 - Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
english isn't my first language. i write dialogue in another language 99% of the time. i don't think this question really takes into account the amount of ESL writers who are basically always doing this
to stay closer to what the question was meant to ask though, i have written sentences, in the middle of english fics, in languages that me or most readers don't speak. it is usually either a LONG process of looking up grammar rules, vocabulary, existing sentences etc... or what i did once, "write with mistakes because the person is learning the language still"
it is good imo to have characters speak their native tongue, or to add your own HCs onto characters and make them speak in their new native tongue, but it can be done more or less respectfully and more or less clearly. how do you include a translation, if at all ? is it jarring in the flow of your fic ? what about inserting song lyrics in another language ? it's a case by case basis for me tbh, and as a reference i really love how yuri on ice did it during the anime
19 - First fandom you wrote for?
i don't recall what i first wrote for exactly but i first posted for death note in 2015 :0 a while back !!
20 - Favourite fic you've written?
i don't have one at the moment, my criteria isn't defined enough these days. maybe some will jump out more later as they did in the past but for now i can say i love most of my children equally lmao
it took me a while to answer, sorry, and i'm too tired to tag anyone but DO feel free to say i tagged you if you wanna do it !!!!!!!

20 Questions for Fic Writers
saw @middleearthpixie doing this and I wanted to do it too :)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
249 works
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
380,279 words
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Most recently I’ve been writing for Phantom of the Opera and Love Never Dies, but according to my AO3 dashboard, I’ve posted fics for just under 40 fandoms and naming them all seems excessive... That being said, my top five are Lord of the Rings, Phantom, MCU (mostly Captain America), Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Harry Potter.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
1. thank you for the food (ATLA, zukka, Fluff, Domestic Bliss, Modern AU) 2. Simple Happiness (ATLA, zukka, Fluff, Living Together, Modern AU) 3. Bucky has a belly kink, but Steve doesn’t mind in the least (MCU, stucky, ABO, Belly Kink, Pregnancy Kink) 4. Surprise (MCU, stucky, ABO, mpreg, Birth, Twins) 5. New Colors (One Piece, zosan, Fluff, Color Blindness, Gifts)
5. Do you respond to comments?
I do try, though I know I’ve missed a few over the years... but I do love and treasure every single comment I get!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I’d have to say that it’s probably a tie between The Worst Thing (MCU, Steve/Bucky, omegaverse, infertility, miscarriage) and overboard (LOTR, Frodo/Sam, trauma, depression, suicide attempt)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hard to say, since aside from the two mentioned above, I write mostly fluffy happy endings...
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Thankfully, no. But maybe that just means I need to write more divisive fics?
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do write smut, and it’s probably mostly -- if not all -- omegaverse tbh...
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I love love love writing crossovers! I think they’re fun and silly and a good time all around. Don’t know if I have one that’s significantly crazier than the rest, but I think i read the hobbit (in 1937 when it first came out) is one of my favorites to think about. I’ve got a soft spot for ws!Bucky is all. Putting him in Middle Earth and adding him to the Fellowship was just for funsies :)
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I’m aware of...
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! A reader translated New Colors into Chinese, which was super neat!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Absolutely, 100% -- in the sense of collaboratively plotting out and writing a story, as well as taking turns in an improvised narrative style RP, and also something in between where the premise of a fic was agreed upon and each of us had characters to write, RP style.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
I don’t think I can pick a singular ship to label as my favorite... I’d call Zoro/Sanji my OTP, but only because they were the first ship I got involved in fandom for -- I haven’t read a fic of them in years. I’m reading almost exclusively Erik/Christine fics right now, but I’ve come across Erik/Raoul fics that have made me fall in love with them, as well as Erik/Raoul/Christine fics that are so so good... I guess in terms of longevity and my ability to always come back to them, Steve/Bucky has been a solid ship for me?
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Gonna go with Zoro’s Promise, since it’s the only multichapter fic I never bothered to move from FF dot net to AO3. It’s literally been ten years since I updated it lmao
16. What are your writing strengths?
On one hand, I guess my ADHD-fueled hyperfixation that allows me to write fic after fic could be considered a strength...?
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
On the other hand, as soon as my ADHD-fueled hyperfixation loses its vice grip on me, I lose all motivation to write. Especially if I’ve already written out the scenes that I had in my head, I become incapable of filling in the gaps and making it a cohesive fic... I honestly don’t think I have very good writing hygiene even after taking classes on being better about being a hobby writer oops
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I personally tend to avoid writing in another language, because I think it’s hard to do well. Sometimes it takes you out of the fic because you have to copy-paste it into Google Translate to figure out what they’re saying, sometimes it takes you out of the fic because you speak the language and the author evidently doesn’t and they used Google Translate.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
First fandom I wrote fic for and then posted would be One Piece... but in actuality, I’ve been writing fanfiction from long before I knew that’s what it was called. I was probably in second or third grade when I wrote self-insert Peter Pan fics. Also Shrek fics. I don’t have the notebooks I wrote them in anymore, but I have a very vivid memory of writing them.
20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?
This is maybe the hardest question of all to answer, because while I like a lot of my fics, I don’t know that there’s one that I could call my favorite. My current WIP stranger than you dreamt it (PotO, Erik/Christine, ABO) is one I’m excited to keep working on because, well, omegaverse. But also time and time again (LOTR, Frodo/Sam, Time Travel, Fix-it) was one of the first multi chapter fics I’ve actually finished, so in that regard I’m rather proud of it. I liked the time-travel-y premise of it as well. And even though what comes after (HP, Snape/Harry, Time Travel, Fix-it) is still technically a WIP, I’m still pleased with how it’s coming along... though it’s been a hot minute since I’ve updated it oops
tagging... you! 🫵 if you're an author, i'm tagging u! i want to know about what you write!!!

20 questions for fic writers
Tagged by @fieryphrazes, whose answers I enjoyed reading so much!!
1. How many works do you have on A03?
102
2. What is your A03 word count?
1,017,012
Oops.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I have written Terror fics almost exclusively for like four years, with some MASH in between. Right now I'm back at a Pacific Rim fic I started in 2016.
4. What are your top 5 fics by Kudos?
i have called you by name (Good Omens)
never seek him, defiantly, at night (The Terror)
The Notion of Respectability (The Terror)
Gambling Man (Les Mis) (this one is so funny to me. happy eleven-year anniversary to my child)
flightless bird (dumb, wild, and free) (Good Omens)
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes!! I am slow but I love responding to comments. If you tell me your thoughts on my fic, you unlock extra analysis rambling in response from me.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
This is so hard... I think it's a tie between Robofitz and the one where Francis cheats on his wife with James? But honestly my MASH sports medicine AU deserves a shoutout here too.
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I'm going to say it's the one where the entire Franklin expedition survives (because there was only one bed), for maximum happiness.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Sometimes I get comments where the intentions of the commenter are not quite clear to me. I just delete & move on!
9. Do you write smut? If so which kind?
Yes & all kinds?
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest crossover you've ever written?
i have never!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I have had people ask, but my policy is that any translation of my work should only be up on Ao3, and the people who were asking had been planning to put it up on other fic sites. So not to my knowledge.
I have translated a fic that I wrote from German into English though! It even tries to simulate the formal/informal pronoun switch.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, but I've always wanted to!
14. What's your all time favorite ship?
This is hard... I don't have favourites... but I will say Fitzier if you make me choose
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have so many of those in my folder. Let's not speak of those.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I really like worldbuilding, in the sense of giving characters a politically & socially coherent world to inhabit. I think I am very good at that by nature of my training & academic expertise.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I struggle most with differentiating between internal monologue & external actions. Like, I am constantly reminding myself that not all characters are telepathic and understand each other's actions.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I have written both an Expanse AU that used Lang Belta with translations, as well as a Weimar Berlin AU for Fitzier that just straight-up used German without translations. Languages are fun! Put them in more things!
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Transformers lol... or I guess Star Wars, but that was not published anywhere
20. Favorite fic you've written?
Past Sins, my James Fitzjames gets blackmailed fic.
I'm tagging @pianodoesterror and @laissezferre!

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thank you @malinthebodyguard for tagging me! 💜💜 I'm not really on tumblr much at the moment for various reasons, but I can never resist a quiz.
(It's not a secret that oneofthosebells is a burner pseud I created just to write YR fic for Reasons I won't bore you with here, so the below is combined across pseuds.)
How many works do you have on Ao3?
67 (25 fics, 41 vids, 1 podfic)
What's your total Ao3 word count?
Just over 430,000
What fandoms do you write for?
I tend to be monofannish, so only Young Royals right now! My main fandom for a few years before that was Ballum (an EastEnders pairing), and I've written for various other sources over the last 20 years including several one-off fics in tiny fandoms for Yuletide.
Top five fics by kudos:
Incognito Mode - Young Royals
Salt and Vinegar - Ballum
Easy to Love - Ballum
The Picture Thou Hast Made - Ballum
Breaking News, Breaking Free - Young Royals
(Taking the executive decision to exclude my 20-year-old Harry Potter fics from the list above because...well. You know. I won't delete them from the internet because I don't believe in doing that, but honestly, if anyone's still reading them in 2024, ngl, kind of judging you. There are SO MANY fics out there not based on books written by massive transphobes, go read those.)
Do you respond to comments?
Usually! I tend to be all or nothing - I try to reply to every comment, but if I'm struggling to keep up, I sometimes end up not replying to any at all for a few weeks and then it feels daft to reply after that long.
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
None! I don't like angsty endings, happy endings all the way round here. Probably the only one that even vaguely counts is Say a Little Prayer, which is a missing moment from canon from a very angsty episode - but even though it ends on a sad note, if you know the show you know they get married a few days later so it's still not that angsty.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hoping that if I can get my writing brain into gear I will soon be able to give several YR fic answers to this question...!
From my non-YR fics...almost all of them? But let's say Beginner's Luck because of the light-hearted romcom vibes throughout. (Or maybe My Heart Won't Let My Feet Do Things They Should Do, because it's not just happy from a ship pov, but also has a character coming to terms with his hearing loss, taking up dance again for the first time since he was 12 AND standing up to his homophobic, ableist dad.)
Do you get hate on fics?
Not recently, doesn't seem to be much of a thing in YR fandom thank goodness! In the past...yeah. (Soap opera fandom is toxic af.)
Do you write smut?
Yep. Not very well. 😂 I put it in stories that seem to need it, but mostly I tend to go for a M rating rather than E because it's really not in my comfort zone to write the explicit stuff. Never written PWP. (I tried to, once, but it ended up full of feelings and a bit of plot anyway!)
Craziest crossover:
Never written a crossover, never really wanted to. I keep my fandoms separate lol.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Hope not! Not aware of it if so.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, but I'd love to. Me and a friend kicked around an idea a few times, but never came to anything.
All time favourite ship?
Eep. Please don't hate me if I don't say Wilmon! I love them to pieces, I really do, but honestly I hyperfixated on their story and the show as a whole rather than them as a couple if that makes sense (which is probably why I don't really read/write non-royal AUs).
Gun to my head, all time favourite ship: Christian/Syed from EastEnders.
What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
There are many YR WIPs on my hard drive, but honestly I'm still hoping to finish all of them one day! So I'll say Not Giving In, which I do really want to finish but alas canon kind of killed my love for the characters (especially Jay who plays a big part in the last few chapters), so chances are high I never will. Will be the first and probably only fic I'll ever properly abandon, which I feel gutted about. Blegh.
What are your writing strengths?
Oh god, what a horrible question. 💀 Probably dialogue? Keeping a plot moving along? And people usually seem to like my characterisation, I've had comments in previous fandoms along the lines of 'could be an actual episode of the show' (which I'm taking as a compliment rather than a dig at my unoriginality lol).
What are your writing weaknesses?
Beautiful prose. Metaphor, simile, imagery, description, all of that. None of that's in my wheelhouse at all. If I could get away with writing fics that were 95% dialogue and 5% 'shrugs, nods, stands up, sits down' stage directions I absolutely would.
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
Eh, I'm not a big fan. With YR fics, I kind of take the view that if you're writing in English, you're essentially translating the entire fic from Swedish into English anyway - so why leave the odd phrase untranslated? It's distracting more than anything else. But it's not a red line or anything, I don't mind it too much in other people's fics.
First fandom you wrote in?
I won't lie: alas, Harry Potter. See above for my feelings on that now.
Favourite fic you've written?
No false modesty here, it's this one: The Picture Thou Hast Made. I wish I'd given it a better title lol as it might have got more attention, but super proud of this fic, probably my best ever attempt at balancing humour, fluff and angst. (Cough, it's an AU that's probably still enjoyable without any canon knowledge, just saying.)
Mind you, one of the YR WIPs currently lurking in my hard drive might just push it into second place... 👀
No pressure tags:
Hmm, lots of people seem to have already done this one! How about @piebingo and @peakotp (no pressure at all) or anyone else who'd like to and hasn't been tagged yet.

5, 8, 12, 13, 30? 💕
Hello hello!!!! thanks for the ask bestie 💕💚💖
5. What is the perfect environment for you to write in?
Honestly, anywhere. I'm almost always writing. I use the dabble app to write in so I can write from both my computer and my phone and it uploads everything, and seriously it's perfect because I'm almost always writing in my head so I can always jot down an idea. I write in the passenger seat of a car, I write in my break room at work, I write in cafes, I write while I'm waiting for appointments, I write at the supermarket, I write when I'm walking to the corner store, I write in front of my stove and at my dining room table and in my office and on my couch and in the bathroom and in my bed. I've written while I was getting dinner with friends and while I was sitting through trailers at the movies and while I was waiting for a concert to start. My fics are basically like stim toys to me? I'm always writing.
My favorite place to write is probably my couch, though. Some music playing, stupid late at night, with a cup of tea.
8. Do you listen to music while you write? If so, share a song that's been inspiring you lately.
I answered this in one of the last ones, but yes, I do! I'll give you three more songs inspiring me lately though:
Gilded Lily by Cults (this is very Tim in the JTK mental health fic to me. Or actually it's very Tim always to me.)
Help, I'm Alive by Metric (And this is a very Kon song to me!)
It's All So Incredibly Loud by Metric (And this is very any ship with Tim in it to me!!)
It's pretty clear from these songs and lyrics that I only write characters who are unwell in some form or another 😂
12. Is there a trope you haven't written yet but really want to?
YeAHHH WE WERE JUST TALKING ABT THIS THE OTHER DAY BUT I WANT TO WRITE A FIC WITH T4T JAYTIM!!! I really want to do more works where one or both of them are trans actually, but I always want to actually dig into it and in so many of my current wips I feel like there isn't space to do it justice andmaybepartofitismebeinglikeamItransenoughtowritethat?maybeit'snotmyspaceI'mjustathey/them
13. Is there a trope you wouldn't write if it was the last trope on earth?
A crossover fic 😂 tbh I just don't vibe with crossovers, but power to people who enjoy them! That feels like a category more than a trope though, so I'll give you another one: high school au. I just don't want to think about high school at all, ever. It was not a pleasant time for me and I'd much rather read and write about characters having issues that I can still relate to
30. Tell us an idea for a longfic you want to write in the future.
I'm really digging rn for a longfic idea that I haven't talked about at all, but also ESPECIALLY TO YOU BC YOU'VE HEARD A BUNCH OF THEM ALREADY 😂
OH OH OH I FOUND ONE!!!
OKAY IT'S AN IDENTITY PORN LOVE SQUARE JAYTIM!! BUT NOT THE OTHER ONE I'VE TALKED ABOUT BC I HAD TWO IDEAS AT THE SAME TIME!!!
okay SO in this one, Jason (who's fully detached from the batfam and in this, his identity was never revealed) and Tim meet at college as students and start dating (mostly bc Bruce was on Tim's ass about dating since he deserves a life outside of work/school/red robin but also partially because he thought it'd be nice to hookup with Jason, he's gorgeous after all) and it goes pretty well, but like ALWAYS w Tim he can't keep up the relationship and his day and night jobs at the same time, and eventually Jason tells him after Tim tries to leave on ANOTHER date that if he has to go, he can go, but he can either tell him what's really going on, or he can't come back.
So Tim doesn't come back.
And then he starts hooking up with Red Hood!! because they have insane chemistry and UST and Tim is pent up after losing his best sexual partner ever and Red Hood starts hitting on him and he's such an asshole and OOPS! And then they start hooking up more, but never at someone's place, etc. etc.
At some point or another Jason ends up in trouble (out of the Red Hood helmet, he's just out as Jason at the college and he doesn't have a helmet or guns on him) and RR helps him out, but Jason ends up helping as Jason, and then Jason wants to go look for Tim and RR has to stop him, which is also weird because Jason has been refusing to even look at Tim so he's surprised that Jason still cares? Like, Tim is his first thought after the fight is over? What?
Anyways after that, the next time Red Robin is out he gets caught in the crossfire with Hood and he gets knocked out, and then Hood takes him back to his safehouse and doesn't take off his mask bc he's respectful, but RR wakes up and realizes that the apartment is Jason's and remembers how well he handled the situation at the school and he realizes that Jason is Red Hood and shitshitshitshitshit that's his ex-boyfriend and also his current fuckbuddy, he can't even call them fwb because they aren't friends-
anyways, that's all I have for that one so far actually 😂 but yeah I love a good identity porn/love square fic!! Hopefully I'll write it one day 😂
Thanks for the ask!!! I hope you enjoyed reading these, I love when you send me ask game asks and you ALWAYS come through, thank you Leo 💖
