Hey I've been wonder about your colab with @thorndale for a while. I love all of the art they've made for LBAF. How did the colab start and how does it work?

This is such a good question!

I LOOOOOOOVE art by @thorndale/@elisial and honestly the way they portray and draw shadowhunters is sooooo stunning and unlike anyone else I've seen.

When I wanted to do the lbaf character portraits, I immediately knew I wanted them to draw my babies. I reached out and asked them if they would be willing - and they said yes! *sobs softly*

The process was so much fun. I basically info dumped so much about the bebes and gave them reference photos and tiny little details about them that were so important but their imagination and style is BEYOND?!?!?!

One of my favorites is the art of Max they did, because he looks exactly as I imagined and even his pose is sooooo MAX.

Also, the artwork they did for the prophecy with Kinny and Lance is just *chef's kiss* because the level of detail in that art is EVERYTHING. I also I had to tell them spoilers for them to draw some of them heheheh.

Honestly, best artist in the shadow world. Fight me.

Everything in Ty froze. I heard Ty take a breath like he never has before. Like he was gasping for air, like he’d been sucker-punched and he was trying to breathe and trying to breathe and he couldn’t. 

Kit went whiter than any ghost I’ve ever seen. He dropped the gun onto the counter. And he didn’t speak. 

Time is not fast or slow where I am. And yet it was long enough for me to feel like the whole world was disappearing, like there was nothing else in it except Kit and Ty looking at each other.

“How long do you think it will take you to forgive me?”

“I don’t know,” he said. 

“But not now,” Ty said in the smallest voice.

“No,” Kit said. “Not now.” 

Maybe it was Kit’s hands crushing in on themselves, till I thought the bones would break like hearts. 

Ty misses Kit more than he thought he could miss someone. He misses him as much now as he did the day he left. He loves him the same. I think he always will and it scares me. 

Kit is used to not needing people, but Ty needs people. He is afraid to need people but that is only because he needs them so much. He is not going to stop needing Kit. I don’t know if Kit will always need Ty. But Ty will always need him.

Now imagine this, but for 600 pages. I will not survive the wicked powers. nope.

THORNDALE Gets Fire Power from Andy LaRocque (King Diamond) for First Single

~Doomed & Stoned Debuts~

Yesterday, I listened to the debut album by Dutch heavies THORNDALE, 'Lightning Spawn' (2024), and thoroughly enjoyed these "Groove-Forged Riffs from the Lowlands." The record features tight songcraft, great pacing, dramatic vocals, killer guitar tone, and robust drumming -- all of it beautifully captured by Dan Swanö, who mixed and mastered.

Today, we're treating you to the first single from the six-track affair, and it features none other than guitarist Andy LaRocque of King Diamond with a killer solo!

Thorndale frontman Gus says, "It's been a wild ride crafting this album with these incredible musicians, paying homage to our idols." If you hear a touch of the familiar here and there, that's exactly what it is. Hints, reminders that there were Giants of Metal long ago, and that the fire of those forebears continues to burn bright in talented musicians today from the scene.

As for this track, the trio says:

In "Ain’t The End of My Rope," the relentless imagery of Greek fire and waves mirrors the overwhelming emotions of loss, revealing a deep reflection on the unavoidable challenges of Life and the heartache of irreplaceable departures.

That's quite a mouthful, and it speaks certainly to the passion this lot have put into this song, as well as the album. Dark stoner grooves with a touch of doom and infectious heavy metal vibes come together for a powerful sound on this track, with a lusty chorus that will be appealing to any fan of Black Sabbath or Candlemass.

“Bank Robber Dies in Evading Capture By Thorndale Youths,” Toronto Star. November 11, 1932. Page 3. ---- The little village of Thorndale, Ont., was yesterday the scene of a dramatic chase which ended in the self-inflicted death of an unidentified bank robber, who had just robbed the Bank of Montreal branch there of $735. The gunman shot himself through the head rather than face capture by two Thorndale youths who had cornered him in a marshy field half a mile west of the village. (1) Two bottles tied together which the gunman had placed on the counter as he warned the manager: ‘There is enough nitroglycerine there to blow us both to eternity if you make any trouble.’ The man’s revolver is also shown. (2) Douglas Hogg, a schoolboy who witnessed the chase and whose small repeating rifle aided one of the men who effected the capture. (3) Hubert Alderson, village cheese-maker, and (4) his chum, Edward Innes. These two young men joined the chase after the bank manager, Milton Fetterly, who pursed the gunman from the bank, became winded at the edge of the village. (5) The car in which the robber drove to the village. He registered under the fictitious name of J. C. Eliott, Hamilton, Ont. (6). The bank which was the scene of the attempted robbery.

A Different Kind of Music - Wessa

Set a few months after Will and Tessa get married. So let's say 1880-1881. They are deciding how to renovate the ballroom of the Institute, but things take a different turn when they get creative. ;) This was inspired by the amazing hot art by the talented @/thorndale/elisial_art on tumblr/Instagram <;3 Warning: Mature

“This room is such a mess,” Will glared at the windows, where long drapes of red velvet hung on by a literal thread. “First thing we’ll change are these curtains, I don’t like red,” he flinched, as if red offended him for some reason. 

Tessa could only smile as they paced the ballroom together. She couldn’t believe it. Just a few months ago, they said their vows and they sealed their union. She was Tessa Herondale now, and even though not everybody saw it the same way, it didn’t matter to her. Only Will mattered, and the future they intended to build together in this place, which needed a little redecoration, according to him.
