Sorry, I lied. This is another questions that I have organized properly because your answers all sounded so amazing and, so cute about the BSD cast looking after the little one while also helping the reader at the same time. It's all heartwarming and adorable 💖
About more questions that is actually not requests, but because ily 💖
1. Did the characters have any amusing misadventures while trying to soothe the baby to sleep?
2. Were there any adorable baby outfits suggested by the characters that became instant fashion hits?
3. Did the baby ever become an unintentional detective, causing chaos with their curious exploration?
4. Share the most entertaining "baby escapes" orchestrated by the little one, leaving the BSD crew in pursuit?
5. Did any of the characters develop a secret language or silly nicknames that became the baby's favorites?
6. How did the BSD cast handle introducing the baby to their unique abilities, any unexpected reactions or adorable interactions?
7. Did the characters ever engage in friendly competitions to see who could make the baby laugh the most?
8. What is the reader's most memorable "mom fails" or parenting mishaps that had the BSD crew in stitches?
9. Share heartwarming instances where the reader's resilience and determination inspired the BSD cast in unexpected ways?
10. Share on any memorable "mommy and me" moments where the reader and the baby stole the show, leaving the BSD members in awe of their bond?
Sorry again with all the many questions, hehehe 💖
I am glad, that you liked my answers.
1. Well, there was a tiger incident with Atsushi. And, one time, Fukuzawa's lullaby made Yosano and Ranpo fall asleep. And baby still wasn't sleeping.
2. Maybe? BSD Characters offer either cute outfits or traditional for their homelands outfits. So, every outfit will become favorite at least for one person.
3. No. Baby might get a hold of a remote or someone's phone, but, nothing personal or embarrassing.
4. Snow Demon, Golden Demon, Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer carried a baby around the whole house once. BSD Characters thought, they will turn gray this day.
5. Nikolai did. He created a secret language to talk with baby. This way, they became partners in crime. Dazai and Fyodor tried to do it, but, their language turned out too complicated.
6. They used their abilities near baby while she was a baby and couldn't talk. After that, they hide their abilities from kid, until she became adult enough to keep secrets. She was mesmerized and tried to pet Atsushi. Asked Poe to use his ability so she can have more fun reading books.
7. Yes, they did. Dazai, Nikolai, Tachihara and Kajii are the ones, who compete with each other, trying to prove, that they are the funniest uncle.
8. There weren't really that much. Not because Reader is that good. BSD Cast did most (if not all) of the parenting. They trust Reader, but, they are worried about Reader's mental stability. They are afraid, that fails will make a toil at Reader's mental health, and she would start hating herself or, god forbid, the baby. Reader will actively help with taking care of baby, but parenting will start only when Reader became slightly older. Or their mental health became better.
9. In any case, where BSD Cast will feel, that their life became too hard, they remember, that Reader were taking care of a baby by her own for few months. And she didn't let herself give up. This thought give BSD Cast strength to move forward.
10. Baby, after going to kindergarten, will call Reader her hero. Before a whole class of kids and their parents. She made everyone cry.

Good morning, my dear Tumblrinas, I come to you with yet another crack idea and that is:
Varsha's Personal Radiator Ranking
aka: How good are the various League members for Varsha to cuddle with when she finds herself in a situation not befitting her temperature requirements as a snake?
I've mentioned it before, but Varsha has the habit of coiling around people for warmth. So, without further ado, here are the victims:
Tumblr media
Let's begin, right to left because I will not start with Varsha’s literal boyfriend
Tumblr media
Tom Sawyer
Literal golden retriever, but he might get nervous. Also complains about Varsha getting heavy after a while. Plus, he might still be a little scared of snakes and might feel a little awkward about it all. BUT look at this picture! This boy does not get cold. Perfect radiator. Also, it's not pictured here but he has one of those big film noir detective trenchcoat, which I imagine would be very nice to cuddle under. Final rating: 6/10
Rodney Skinner
Once again, the man doesn't freeze. He's also very okay with physical affection and avoiding people's personal space. Would probably ramble a little and make jokes all throughout if the situation calls for it. There's only one problem: The man is naked. He's wearing nothing under that coat. Veeery awkward and goes against Varsha’s common sense. 5/10
Mina Harker
Ah yes, the eternal question: Are vampires warm? I'd say, in Mina's case, yes? Because she needed a winter coat to keep warm and she wouldn't need that coat if there was no warmth to keep in the first place. But I'd also assume that her body temperature isn't that high, so she's not that good at keeping others warm. Also, her clothes are pretty form-fitting, so there aren't any coats to slide under. Still, I think she'd be pretty comfortable, and probably wouldn't think that Varsha cuddling with her for warmth is awkward. 7/10
Allan Quatermain
Uh... Yeah, no, he wouldn't be happy about it. But he would do it if it's really cold. He has a wide and comfy coat though! I dunno, uh... 4/10?
Captain Nemo
Well, you see, this man has a lot of dignity. But he also has protective dad instincts when Varsha is in danger. So, once again, he only really allows for cuddles when it's necessary. Also, no wide and comfy coat. 3/10 - I'm sorry, Nemo, this isn't your time
Dorian Gray
Yeah... no... For personal reasons, no. If he wasn't such a bastard, he could easily be a 7/10 or higher, but seeing that he is a bastard... 0/10
And finally...
Henry Jekyll
Henry/10. What am I even supposed to say? Henry and Varsha are cuddlebugs, and the excuse of "it's cold" is always good for sneaking in some socially appropriate PDA. Henry gets touch-starved, the slight bit of pressure helps with his anxiety, he's head-over-heels in love... And Varsha is very affectionate and touchy! Perfect!
Also, if you're wondering about Edward Hyde: I'd imagine that he's very warm and he also has the least issues with having Varsha's weight on his shoulders, but also, he has no patience for casual cuddling. If he's out, he's there to get things done and maybe carry Varsha out of danger, no more and no less. So, I'm not really including him here. But he's loved <3

❝ Enola Holmes - she didn’t think she would ever forgive her mother for that name; honestly, who thought it was a good idea to name their daughter after the world alone? - was just as good a detective as her older brothers. However, due to various circumstances beyond her control (being a woman, being a young woman, never quite fitting in among the high society Mycroft kept attempting to make her a part of), she was not nearly as respected as them. Rejected from every attempt she had made at becoming a consulting detective at Scotland Yard alongside Sherlock, Enola was relegated to running her own small detective firm in in the heart of London, helping to locate missing cats or deducing whether the husbands of ancient society ladies where frequenting brothels or not.
It was far from the worst existence, all things considered; most of her clients payed rather well, and she was not scrutinized by London society the way Mycroft and Sherlock were. But still, Enola was all the time craving more - to be recognized for her deduction skills the way her brothers were, to partake in some grand adventure that would finally force her family to look at her with some amount of pride. But with the way things had been for quite some time, that did not seem likely, and so she attempted to force herself to be content with her life the way it was, deducing on behalf of fussy old wealthy ladies and remaining as alone as her name suggested.
But all that changed when Enola was contacted by a mysterious representative of Her Majesty’s government. The agent, who called himself only M, informed her that a shadowy, dangerous man who called himself the Fantom was attempting to start a world war by selling off his advanced weapons, and that a team made up of remarkable and skilled individuals, including Enola, was to be assembled in order to combat the threat. (He also told her that he had attempted to contact both of her brothers before her and that the only reason he was choosing her to be part of the team was because they had both had other engagements, but Enola studiously tryed to ignore how much that stung.)
M’s offer is the very thing Enola has been waiting for, a chance to go on an adventure and use her skills to do some good for the world, but upon meeting the other members of this so-called “League of Extraordinary Gentlemen,” she quickly realizes that the team is nothing like what she expected. Skinner is endlessly aggravating and refuses to take anything seriously, Quartermain is much too skeptical of having Enola and Miss Mina Harker as part of the group, and there is something about the immortal Dorian Gray that she does not quite trust. The only ones who does not unsettle Enola or make her wish to rip out her hair are Doctor Henry Jekyll, a terribly nervous man who shares his body with an entire other, decidedly more gruff, man, and Tom Sawyer, an American with awful shooting technique who smiles at Enola in a way she has never been smiled at before.
Given everything, Enola is not entirely sure that this merry band of misfits will actually be able to stop the Fantom’s plans and prevent a war. But as their journey continues and she begins to form her own special bonds with each League member, Enola is sure of one thing: even if they cannot defeat the Fantom, even if the unease she feels around Gray is proven right, even if she truly never becomes recognized the way her brothers are (even if she makes a mess of this sweet, delicate thing brewing between her and Sawyer, which she suspects she will)…
She is a member of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. She has found her own form of a dysfunctional, squabbling, chaos-filled family. And that means that, no matter the meaning of her name, she is not alone anymore. ❞

I was catching up on some old narrative and detective games and decided to play the earliest works made by Rika Suzuki (my favourite writer, she wrote Hotel Dusk, Last Window and Another Code and sequels) so I started with J.B. Harold Murder Club
Tumblr media
I suddenly realised that I had a pioneering game of its kind on my hands.
although the game was well made and really interesting my attention immediately lingered on a not insignificant detail
Tumblr media
seeing a black character in a video game outside of a sporting context (as in SEGA's Heavyweight champion, or Punch Out) or racist stereotypes (such as Square's Tom Sawyer) was quite surprising to me, especially for a game made in 1986! This character in fact is anything but useless, he runs the research lab and he's of fundamental help in solving the protagonist's investigations
Tumblr media
in fact he is also present in the remake of the game released in 1990
Tumblr media
and in the latest version released in 2017 for the nintendo switch (sadly only for japanese players)
Tumblr media
I think this is just one of many reasons to praise Rika Suzuki, her contribution to video games is enormous and little recognised. She is a true pillar of the detective genre, she rightfully deserves to be put on a par with the greatest

if you had to force an American onto the League (from American literature), who would you choose instead of Tom Sawyer?
I had been about to say Irene Adler (again) until I noticed that the character has to also be from American literature, and honestly, I have very little knowledge of 19th century American literature, so I can't really think of anyone off the top of my head! What makes it tricky is that the character would also have to fit a superhero archetype or action team role of some kind, and even after going through a list of books that might have characters who would still be alive in 1898, none of them seem as if they can be re-imagined that way, so maybe the movie going with Tom Sawyer based on the stories where he's a detective was the right call, along with Ishmael from Moby Dick in a small role as Nemo's first mate in both the comics and film? I did see someone on tumblr put forward a strong case for an old grizzled Huck Finn as a League member instead, but I'm not sure where to find that post again.
Anyway, I welcome suggestions from people who would be far more well-versed in 19th century American literature than I would be!

Now that you somehow mentioned it I’d love to know how you’d see tom and his personality evolving, like how he would behave 8-10 years later(whether it’s in a canon or non-canon setting)! Bc i have my very own interpretation of late-teen/young adult sawyer and I love to know other opinions abt this kind of stuff— (btw I already read and loved some of your fanfics (those where he isn’t ded lol) so I have an overall idea but i love annoying ppl)
okay okay so...i have a LOT of thoughts about tom’s personal character development both in canon, and what it might lead to in the future.
this is all gonna seem like an unnecessary summary of tom’s character, but it’s all leading up to a point i sWEAR LMAO.
i think conspiracy could serve as a huge catalyst for tom’s character development, among other things. throughout the sequel novels, he continued to worm his way out of situations he deliberately put himself and others into multiple times, mostly by his own cleverness, while always making a big show of it. the more he proves himself in the public eye, the more he wants to do it again and becomes willing to create dangerous problems just to do so. he shows the town time and time again how smart he is, how special he is, how promising his future will be. in conspiracy, tom doesn’t impress the town in court with his detective skills, like he’s done so often before. it’s not another opportunity for him to show off, the way he wanted it to be. instead he makes himself look like a liar when confessing his harebrained schemes, because everyone knows none of it makes any sense at all, and so far tom has been nothing but a beacon of intelligence and common sense in their eyes. he becomes speechless and cries about all the ways his stupid mistakes have made jim suffer, and he’s gone too far this time to fix it. he humiliates himself publicly. just as tom’s rise to glory in st. petersburg was always a public matter (like he tried to make it), so is his downfall.
he got such a big head from all this past “”success”” that he truly believes it’s impossible for him to fail. once he does, he panics, loses all of his self-assurance, and tries to get jim out of the trouble he got him into the fastest, most straightforward way possible. tom, the one who is constantly lording his intelligence over huck’s head and scolding him for being a “saphead,” desperately tells huck that he wishes he had just listened to him instead of going after glory, that he was an idiot for playing with fire. it’s obvious that the events in conspiracy have taken a huge toll on tom’s arrogance and pride, and one can only hope that he won’t mess up the same way again after this.
warning, this take on tom’s character has a LOT of sawyerberry. another catalyst for tom’s growth could be huck leaving st. petersburg. i think it’s safe to say that although tom loves huck as his best friend, he takes his friendship for granted. huck needs to get out of town, find himself to gain more confidence and make relationships outside of tom so that he’s not so codependent on him. tom needs to realize just how much huck doesn’t need him, how much huck can thrive outside of st. petersburg and without tom. huck has always been a compassionate, generous person, and tom needs to become more appreciative of all the traits he dismissed before.
also, huck influencing tom to think outside of society’s set of rules that he, for the most part, is so stuck in. huck influences tom to adopt more abolitionist sentiments. strictly speaking in a romantic sense, the realization that tom might have feelings for huck causes him to go through the very long, difficult process of struggling to accept what he feels and decide whether he’s going to stay inside his comfort zone, where it is safe, or leave it and everyone inside. him realizing he just might be part of a marginalized group of people, a group of people that a christian town like his would find the feelings he feels, that he didn’t ask for, despicable, could be a huge wake-up call.
basically i feel that through nothing but fate (and huck) humbling tom a LOT could he go down a much better path than if he just continued to make a great name for himself all the time in st. petersburg. always staying within the comfortability of his hometown and having everyone inside of it think so highly of him all the time isn’t a challenge to tom’s worst personal flaws. going against the grain of society alongside huck just might be though.
in the end i just think of a young adult tom as someone who is still too proud at times for his own good, still gets wound up too easily over good literature. but instead he moons over books within the strict safety net of his brain. he’s just as clever and cunning and capable as he has ever been, but through years and years of reflection and the very difficult process of bettering himself, he decides he doesn’t want to go to the country’s greatest law school, or become judge thatcher’s apprentice, or president! he doesn’t feel the need for the same glory he used to!! he just wants to be with huck, and so they live in a humble house on the countryside, where they’re afforded some privacy.
he’s still himself, still a somewhat deeply flawed guy. but he’s trying to be better.

Good Stuff: Fantasia 1940
Tumblr media
If there was one old Disney film that I really wanted to see in full as an adult, it would be The Great Mouse Detective, then Valiant, then both Fantasia films. I'm surprised this was the 3rd film Disney ever made and I'm even more surprised they never made this more of a tradition. Now I don't want a Fantasia every other year or so, but I'm amazed that they never considered one for its centennial anniversary because I doubt anyone would've been against Disney making a theatrical animated concert celebrating 100 years. Maybe we'll get one for Fantasia's 100th anniversary.
Anyways this was a good movie and I decided with this review to rank the segments from least to greatest. Now while I rank this as the least good, it doesn't mean I hated it. None of these are horrible, but some elevate their presence better than others and the segments are equally great in terms of production and the synergy they have with the music. With that said, let's start the show...
Number 7, Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker Suite
Tumblr media
Now to me, I always considered the Nutcracker Suite as a Christmas-themed composition; it was a ballet for Christmas Eve. So when they just made the animation about the 4 seasons in general, it just felt generic. Not that it had to strictly be about Christmas, but more could've been done with the concept. The dances are good, but not really memorable especially when there's a later piece that's better conceived. Fantasia I felt was about developing a theme that complemented the score's origins and I still don't think the animation fits what the song was going for. Not insulting or the like, but not memorable.
Number 6, Mussorgsky's Night on the Bare Mountain/Schubert's Ave Maria
Tumblr media
This'll be a controversial take because I know so many people considered the Chernabog segment a very dark moment for a Disney film; literal demons and spirits dancing among the world. However, and this will be stupid I know, I wasn't feeling that part because while it fits the music perfectly, I was somehow reminded of Beavis and Butthead Do America and the desert trip scene. That did the idea of demonic chaos better in my eyes where yeah it wasn't operatic like this, but it stood out better. I remember Chernabog's presence more than I do anything else that happened. Thankfully, Ave Maria makes for the best closure you could have for this concert as a whole. Again, not a bad or even forgettable time but the other segments strike better to me.
Number 5, Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor
Tumblr media
This is generally here because it's a strong start to the film and basically exists to flex the studio's handling of mickey mousing, an animation concept made by Disney themselves for when the animated movements match the exact rhythm of the music. Otherwise, there's literally not much to this segment because you might as well say it was the earliest version of a screensaver. This is where the music was what got this so high on the list.
Number 4, Stravinsky's Rite of Spring
Tumblr media
This segment was what got me into watching the film and is what I was talking about with The Nutcracker segment. If you're gonna warp the original interpretation of the composition, at least do more with it in terms of concept. Just saying, dinosaurs & the natural chaos of the universe go well for what is to be a dissonant piece. There's a more memorable flow with this, running nicely with Stravinsky's piece which was ironically about the Spring season. The fact it's the longest segment in the film makes for how I was engaged with it the whole way through. Maybe I love dinosaurs more than I let on, who knows...
Tumblr media
Also bonus points for Scrunklo.
Number 3, Dukas & Goethe's The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Tumblr media
A jolly good story that I'm glad was the genesis behind this overall concert. I felt like Mickey's never had a real theatrical movie though I can see where he works best with shorter stories like this. We get a mischievous-sounding piece that follows this Tom Sawyer-esque fable perfectly. Yen Sid's presence alone makes this as great as believed. Also, Yen Sid spelled bac-
Number 2, Beethoven's The Pastoral Symphony
Tumblr media
Zeus is an asshole per usual. Otherwise, this might musically be my favorite piece. I was torn between this and Rite of Spring, but the angelic and softer look of the world in this warmed my heart more. I love the beginning and the party with Bacchus especially. There's such a cute, consistent joy all around even when Zeus shows up to be his typical self. And I saw the edited version which, yeah not missing much even if you know.
Number 1, Ponchielli's Dance of the Hours
Tumblr media
It's a very Merrie Melodies/Silly Symphonies affair that's the most bonkers and embraces the music the best here. Animation-wise, it was my favorite hands down. I'm all for Fantasia being more operatic and less zany, but when it truly got to be cartoonish they reveled in it here. I'm unsure if this was the best one to be the penultimate segment, but at the same time, this stuck out in the best way anyways.
Overall, I give this an 8 out of 10. I was very satisfied with this even if it wasn't a consistent banger concert. I'll see the 2000 film soon enough to wonder if it was as mixed as many say. If you've seen Fantasia before, what was your favorite segment? I'm Monkey Makaveli and I look forward to hearing from you.

I remember I had this thought when it being that Jekyll should have been older in both movie and comic, and that was, ‘Shouldn’t Sawyer be around the same age as Quatermain and Nemo?’
So I look it up to see that he might’ve been (if he was the same age as Huckleberry Finn) thirteen or fourteen during the 1840’s, but then I found out that he and Huckleberry Finn went to Africa in the sequel of the second book before the book where Tom becomes a detective.
I am now imagining Sawyer meeting Quatermain in Africa long before either joined the team.

MY 1K PAGES READATHON TBR!
Tumblr media
[ID: A kindle, Rainbow Milk by Paul Mendez in hardback, and Earthsea: the First Four Books by Ursula K Le Guin in paperback on a llama-themed background, with the caption '1000 PAGES READATHON' below and heart and line doodles on the top edges.]
So my TBR for this is:
Tom Sawyer: Detective by Mark Twain (about 40 pages) - a classic I'm excited to finish as I've been reading the Tom Sawyer collection (including Huck Finn) for the past few weeks!
Rainbow Milk by Paul Mendez (353 pages) - this has been on my TBR for a very long time and I love reading British LGBT books as they hit so much closer to home for me.
Earthsea: The First Four Books by Ursula K Le Guin (691 pages) - does this need an introduction? Another book that has been on my TBR for far too long!
All in all this takes me about 100 pages over 1K but I don't want to pressure myself to finish Earthsea soon so we'll see how far I get.
