From a review of Napoléon écrivain, book by N. Tomiche about Napoleon’s writing:
To tell the truth, he was shocked by his spelling mistakes, his barbarism and his grammatical irregularities, to which should be added his sovereign contempt for capital letters and punctuation.

Here is a quote from Vincent Van Gogh: “The fishermen know that the sea is dangerous and the storm terrible, but they have never found these dangers sufficient reason for remaining ashore.”
The same sentiment applies to so many other professions.
Whoever you are, there is a chance I have no idea how you do what you do. And there’s a bigger chance that I’m impressed by what you do.
The teachers at St. John Lutheran School were honored this past Sunday. I’m always amazed at teachers because they have the amazing ability to make young minds grow.
This young teacher is Lynn Tomich. She was presented with flowers as a thank-you for her dedication to teaching the children in her care. A humble look of gratitude beamed from her face as School Administrator Jim Knoepfel read her accolades.
I hope I captured that moment in this painting. The painting was done with the oil brush on the Procreate app.

The Food System Is Awful for the Climate. It Doesn’t Have to Be
As people’s incomes rise, they tend to switch from “starchy staples” like grains, potatoes, and roots to meat and dairy products. “You’d think there would be big cultural differences across human populations in these patterns,” says Thomas Tomich, a food systems economist at the University of California, Davis, who wasn’t involved in the new paper. “There are some, but it is surprising how almost…

This is one of my favorite verses from the Bible. It goes along with all the sayings about the company we keep. Woodrow Wilson said “your enlightenment depends on the company you keep.” The people you surround yourself with will determine who you are in life.
My days as a Husker are a great example. I was part of the program when it was at its peak. Tom Osborne era, National Championships, 9-win seasons. I remember being a walk-on and having the opportunity to be a part of summer workouts with the team right after graduation.
I showed up for the first workout and was blown away. The energy on that team was phenomenal . The leadership within the players was crazy. Grant Wistrom, Jason Peters, Jared Tomich and Chad Kelsay were the main drivers. Iron monsters pushing the rest of us to work harder and be better. They were the iron sharpening iron that led to Osborne’s 3rd national championship.
If you truly want to have continued growth in your life, you have to find the iron to sharpen yourself. You have to find the people that are not going to make it easier for you, but add friction so that you do become razor sharp.
I don’t want to be the smartest in the room, but I want to ask the most questions. I don’t want to be the strongest guy in the gym, I want to set my sights on the next bigger guy to push myself to that level.
I love my job at Talent Plus because it is stacked with smart, intelligent and wise people who have a drive to share their knowledge and make other businesses and people better. I’m challenged every day. I’m humbled every day and I love it.
For the last two or three years, I’ve been a part of a small group of men (3 of us now) who are working on our faith. We read bible plans on the Bible app and leave comments about what we read. We meet once a month or so and talk about it. We are sharpening each other’s faith as well as how to be better, stronger men.
Iron sharpens iron only when there is friction. Real friends are there to tell you the truth even when it's painful and uncomfortable. If you want to be the best you can be…find the people that will push you, but when you do, remember to be their iron as well.
The book of Proverbs is a self-help book in itself filled with guiding tips on how to be a better person, be successful and live a much happier life. Whether you are religious, spiritual or about self improvement…I recommend reading it.

Peptides Fold and Self-Assemble on Graphite-Water Interfaces
https://www.lifetein.com/blog/peptides-fold-and-self-assemble-on-graphite-water-interfaces/ The concept of self-assembling peptides is a promising front where construction of devices can be achieved through a single molecule. While the outcome is enticing, the means to reach a consistent outcome are complex to say the least. Dozens of factors go into how a peptide may self-assemble and fold, with the most important being the sequence itself. While this can be handled by careful screening and simulations, the interface at which this folding occurs becomes more important to consider at well. Researchers looked to test how specific peptides fold and self-assemble on graphite-water interfaces, where a number of factors give this method the advantage over doing so in free solution. Graphite helps peptides self fold into conformations The group studying this phenomenon claimed that the folded conformations of the peptides were stable over a variety of temperatures when observed over graphite. They point out that it is due to the peptide backbone aligning with the zigzag directions of the graphite plane, thus allowing the conformations to occur more favorably from the intermolecular hydrogen bonds of the molecule. Atomic force microscopy revealed these theories to be true beyond initial simulations as well. The team believes the design principles displayed in these experiments could be of great use in future iterations of self-assembling peptide engineering. The thermodynamically favored self-assembly with the use of a graphite-water interface shows promise as a medium for even more complex molecular devices in the future, a future LifeTein is looking forward to being a part of. “Two Burglaries Laid to Suspect,” Border Cities Star. February 17, 1932. Page 5. ---- ‘PAL’ IS IN PRISON ---- Transient Accused of Windsor, Walkerville Thefts ---- John L. Shortt, 26 years old, of no fixed abode, appeared in Walkerville Police Court yesterday afternoon charged with theft in connection with the burglarizing of the Adam's drug store, Ottawa street and Lincoln Road, Walkerville, early on the morning of November 18. 1931. He was remanded, to appear in Windsor Police Court Saturday. At Windsor, Shortt is faced by a breaking and entering charge, the result of the burglarizing of Dan Tomich's barber shop, near the M. C. R. R station.
Shortt was caught by Windsor police Tuesday of last week. He appeared in court on Friday of last week and was given an eight-day remand.
When the Adams store was entered in Walkerville, a quantity of cigarets, shaving brushes and cream, safety razors and cigaret lighters, and cameras and fountain pens was taken.
Thomas Hogan, of no fixed abode, was picked up by Walkerville police, shortly after the Walkerville drug store was entered. They found most of the missing goods on Hogan's person. At the time, police reported, that a second man, who had taken part in the burglary with Hogan, had escaped. The police theory is that Shortt is the man who escaped. Hogan was given two years, less one day. for his offence.
The burglary at the Tomich barber shop resulted in the theft of a set of electric hair clippers, razors and toilet articles. Windsor police reported that most of this was recovered.
Bail of $10 was estreated at yesterday's police court, when James Hendrigan, of 643 Ouellette avenue, failed to appear to answer a speeding charge. An officer told the court that Hendrigan was guilty of traveling 37 miles per hour along Wyandotte street in Walkerville.
Isadore Cecile, of Lauzon Road, Riverside, was fined $5 plus costs for traveling 45 miles per hour through Walkerville. The small penalty was levied after Mr Cecile asked Deputy Magistrate Hanrahan for leniency, pointing out that h was only working part time.
