I am torn between bratty, power bottom, eager to please, pathetic, pain kink nandor and big strong slayer memo or sensitive virgin guillermo and experienced relentless Nandor
hands down one of my top bits in wwdits is s3 ep2 when they're using the cloak of duplication and keyvan novak does impressions of Colin Robinson, laszlo and guillermo instead of them just dubbing the voices over in post
I can't explain it but it fills me with so much joy
My favorite detail in WWDITS is that the vampires clearly know how modern people dress and do not give a single fuck about it. I refuse to believe that their terrible human outfits are the result of being out of touch, they know exactly what they’re doing.
Nandor, Nadja, and Laszlo live with two other people who wear exclusively modern clothes, Colin and Guillermo. They even ask Colin to borrow his modern outfits for the Baron. All three of them are familiar with modern fashion and that’s without mentioning that all their victims obviously wear normal human clothes.
Nandor knows what a tide bleach pen is and how much it costs. Bleach would ruin most vampire clothes due to age. Interesting.
Even after assuming Simon’s nightclub requires capes none of them are that phased to be wrong. The most reaction we see is offense at the comment that the three are dressed “traditionally”. Even for vampires this group is way behind what’s “in” right now and they know it.
Jackie Daytona. Enough Said.
Nandor owns nice modern work out clothes that he knows are for the gym, but he still goes to Massive Fitness shirtless with his vamp pants. That’s not a misunderstanding that’s a choice.
All three vampires are attracted to a modern human for a long period of time. Are you telling me that Nadja didn’t pick up anything about human fashion from sneaking away with Jeff? Or that Laszlo has never noticed what Sean wears? Nandor falls for tons of people with tons of different styles. The Meg to Guillermo spectrum covers a lot of different clothes.
The polaroids throughout are all fairly period accurate for fashion! This is especially true of Nandor who is shown with both Gail (reoccurring fling) and Benjy (old familiar) throughout the decades in accurate clothing. Most of the intro pictures also feature the vamps in modern clothing!
Anyways don’t believe for a single second that those idiots don’t understand human fashion because they definitely do. Every time they wear their vampire clothes it is because they enjoy dressing that way and don’t care that they look out of place. Their poor attempts at human outfits are intentional mockery, not misunderstandings.“We wanna blend in” bullshit you all LIVE for the attention.
headcanon that Nandor can read his native language but doesn't even realize he's translating as he's doing it.
The rest of the household notices when he brings out some old letter to show them and they look at him like they looked at him with the eyebrows.
"how do you know what it says Nandor?" Laszlo asks him in a cautious tone, and Nandor looks at Laszlo weird. He turns to Nadja and shows her "look, here. it says 'we hope to see you again soon'" and Nadja just looks at him like he's grown a second head. "do you not know how to read Nadja?" (he gets slapped in the back of the head for that)
Do you think that in the vampire world, there are modern doctors, surgeons, and gender specialists that can help trans vampires? Do you think they go to the vampire gender clinic to see when their vampire top surgery is scheduled? Do you think they check with their vampire doctors to see what dose of HRT they have to take?
"Ah yes, your vampire top surgery is scheduled for next month. Check witb your vampire gender specialist to see how much vampire HRT you have to take."
idk what's worse coming into a fandom that's already 4 seasons long: the fact that everyone is already bitter and jaded and that pessimism and negativity has seeped into the environment
or that your top/bottom headcanons have become passé
here's some eriador nandor as nomads in the dunland area
(somewhat inspired by cave creature thingol)
i feel like they would favor varda as Lord of Arda over manwe, since without the treelight, their only light source would be the light of her stars + her creations are basically the only ones they're guaranteed to see every day/night.
some groups of the eriador nandor (namely lenwe's group) created glowy starlight tattoos (like a wearable version of feanor's artificial gems) as a dedication to varda (and a convenient light source). and since it's mostly dark except for the starlight, they have purple/sable face paint for war/hunting to enhance the glowy starlight effect. they mostly stop doing this after the rising, though, since the sun/moonlight makes the contrast less effective than regular green/brown camo, and it becomes more of a traditional than practical thing. (maeglin got his color scheme from the sable paint)
eol is one of the former-nomadic-nandor laegrim who migrated sometime in the first age and ended up in nan elmoth (his starlight tattoos eventually faded bc he spent too much time either indoors or in a very dark magic forest and also he was evil so varda stopped recharging him or something)
the rising of the moon and sun + morgoth + men + migration of laegrim leads to an erosion of nandorin nomadic culture (since its a lot harder to wander around mostly-peacefully stargazing when the continent is suddenly full of orcs and men) and by the third age there are like three nandorin nomads left around the southern coastal region
the oldest nandor (born between cuivienen and the rising) are more cave-creature-y, with semi-translucent skin, really big dark blue eyes (like the waters of cuvienen at night), and extra good night vision but worse normal light and color vision. the ones born after the rising have normal skin and eyes, though most of them still have the white/silver teleri hair.
some people are frustrated that it seems like nandor immediately put guillermo back into the familiar position after his un-turning ceremony, but i don't think he did at all? i saw nandor asking guillermo to clear away derek's body as less of an 'ah yes familiar please clean up my mess since that's your job' and more of an 'i know this is difficult for you and i see that you need time with it. i'm going to gently give you until sunrise to grieve but i can't let you dwell on it too long. you made the right decision'
