Ghost Trick x Transistor crossover AU
spoilers + details below

Maybe you're looking for someone to blame Fighting for air while you circle the drain
Lynne is still an intrepid detective on the heels of a major case - until she's framed for the murder of Sissel. Sissel is now a digital ghost trapped within the Transistor. Together the two strangers must work together to undo the string of murders occuring across town and find out what's going on until it's too late.
Ray is possessing one of the OVC terminals at the beginning of the game, and guides you to the sandbox rooms.
Sissel can still reverse time (or at least watch replays). The [now digital] assassins replace the Process types (eg. Jeegos, Beauties, Dandies...). Each resident ghost you encounter unlocks a new 'trick' type in the Transistor.
Missile joins you for some segments of your travels.
Yomiel was originally the lead engineer on the Transistor project, and is now using the assassins as part of a revenge plot on the city.
Cabanela and Jowd are part of the elite team investigating the secret "digital manipulator", although they don't realize they've been infiltrated from the inside... They are also tracking down Lynne.
The confrontation at the Empty Set is with possessed Kamilla (and actually the first confrontation with Yomiel).
The confrontations with Cabanela and Jowd mirror Chapter 15.
Yomiel has been spying on Cabanela and the team via the body of Sissel-the-cat.
The park is Transistor Park.
That's as much as I've thought out so far: would love to hear if anyone has additions to add on! There's so many fun parallels between these two games.
(Also have thoughts on the Transistor characters in the Ghost Trick universe, but that one still needs a bit more fleshing out.)

People not understanding the ending of Transistor literally brings me to my knees and head in my hands like... the game literally spells it directly. Red has two choices, live without Mister Nobody/The Boxer/Auden while she rebuilds the same place and system that allowed the Process to happen or to escape, leave what is basically Eden, cuz she loves him more even if for what it seems the Country seems closer to the real world.
It literally asks the question, would you rather be in heaven alone or go to Earth with the one you love?
the last sentence you said ohhhh my god…. biting biting biting this game makes me feel crazy. you can’t google anything about transistor without thinkpieces popping up explaining why the ending is good OR why the ending is bad and it’s rlly funny because the answer is obvious. it’s really good. it is an incredible choice and the choice that red makes is literally the only one that makes sense for her, the whole game is leading up to this… rebuild an empty city, with all the power of a god (or well. a system admin) but alone and always at a degree of separation from mr nobody, or join the love of her life in the country… agh.

could u pls explain the ronance transistor au to me
Absolutely I can!
Transistor Spoilers below:
Transistor is a video game where you play as a character named Red who has this sword-like weapon called the Transistor. She’s a singer whose voice was stolen by a group called The Camerata, who had tried to have her killed but ended up killing her lover instead when he dived in the way. Because of how the Transistor works, her lover can see/hear everything and narrates the story for the player by talking to Red throughout the game. The game follows Red trying to avenge her lover and take down The Camerata for good, having to fight a legion of their robots called The Process.

Ronance Transistor AU
In my AU, Nancy is a well-known journalist who's liked by the general public (like Red with her singing). She's about to go public with an article about Brenner's organisation and work when Brenner has her attacked.
Robin and Steve had both been working under Brenner, but Robin quit for Nancy's safety while Steve stayed behind to try and help them get information. When she realised Brenner was sending the Transistor towards Nancy to absorb her, she got in the way of it in the process, so Nancy only lost her voice while Robin got stabbed.
Nancy blacked out at the beginning of the process, so she came to to find Robin slumped on the ground, the Transistor embedded in her. Robin speaks to her, though, and Nancy realises Robin's been absorbed into the Transistor, in a unique way caused by being killed by it.
Nancy then goes on to try and take down Brenner's organisation for good, both to stop them and to avenge Robin. Robin guides her the entire time. They find the bodies of Jonathan, Eddie and Argyle and are able to absorb them into the Transistor, but Robin remains the only one able to speak.
(There's also an aspect where Steve didn't know about the planned attack on Nancy, so he was helpless to stop it, which also meant that Robin thought Steve had betrayed her. Nancy ends up fighting a corrupted Steve, who tries to fight off the corruption the whole time. He hears Robin's voice and that's what gets through to him enough to throw himself onto the blade, apologising profusely to her as he does because he never wanted either of them to be hurt.
There's also a theory that the Transistor itself serves as an "afterlife" of sorts, so Steve and Robin are able to reunite afterwards.)
More Spoilers, both for the game and this AU:
Nancy's able to defeat all of Brenner's organisation (Corrupted Steve, Owens, Creel, Brenner) and is left with the Transistor, able to live her life. She doesn't want the world she's left with, though. One without her best friends, one without Robin.
She gets the Transistor to impale her, even as Robin begs her not to.
When she next wakes up, she's standing before Robin in a grassy field, Steve, Eddie, Argyle and Jonathan visible in the distance, and Nancy finds that she's finally happy again.
(Slide from the game's ending below!)

I can't readmore cause I'm on mobile so SPOILERS KINDA MAYBE A LITTLE BIT OKAY so 1. I found that final fight kind of like. It was cool but pretty easy? Still fun but way easier than the spine fight which seems weird 2. It feels like they teased a second spine fight and then never gave it?? Maybe I missed that somehow. And 3. DOES SWORD BF HAVE A GODDAMN NAME? AT ALL?

For the character meme, how about Red from Transistor?
Why I like them:
I think my starting point is probably her design. The bright shock of wavy red hair contrasting with those electric blue eyes. She's very delicate and beautiful, but her torn dress and big black jacket have such a punk edge. I love the use of in-universe songs in the game, and of course the songs themselves, how sharp and brooding they can be, how they're open to interpretation. Because she's silent and the game's world-building is sparse, you have a lot of freedom to imagine what her history was like, what she does on a day off, what she was thinking at different point in the game. It's a level of freedom you often don't get in modern games. At the same time, there are enough clues that you can see the shape of Red – passion, resilience, melancholy, humor, protectiveness – even if not every detail is filled out.
Why I don't:
I admit, on my first playthrough, when I learned she'd gone to the fancy school and gone with really unique Selections and was the most famous singer in Cloudbank, I rolled my eyes because it all felt so special. Those sorts of things can take the place of interesting traits in underwritten characters, but I ultimately felt the game didn't fall into that trap. Yes, Red is unique and extremely famous, but judging by songs like “The Spine” (and the Camerata's plans) it has consequences, and bad ones.
Favorite scene:
Hard to pick one. I'm mentally walking through the game to see what stands out... It's also hard to isolate a scene that's more about Red than the Boxer. Love the “You turned left” moment, love the chilly isolation of the scene where she first finds Boxer, love the flatbread break, love all the stuff leading up to the Spine, love her flying across the city on the Process... Maybe for a scene that's very much about Red, it could be her creating the bridge to Fairview. I just feel like we're seeing right into her heart there, maybe even her subconscious. The intimacy of the nude reaching statues, the mosaic of the clasped hands, the tree-shaded visuals. The way that (as I recall) that's where she lands after the final battle.
Oh, no, wait, I just remembered – her putting him in the Cradle. That's the best moment.
Favorite line:
The first one I think of is “I'm going to find the thing that's doing this and rip its heart out.” (Or words to that effect.) I also really like the cadence of I see the spine of the world/ Sparkle and shine, light the inside.
Favorite outfit:
I like both the torn and intact versions of her dress. I also really like some of the unused concept dresses. But I'm really intrigued by the off-the-shoulder outfit she wears in the coffee image at the end. Is it pjs? Is it a dress? I've interpreted it as a purple blouse in some pics. I just like this insight to who she is when not on stage, alone with her sweetie.
OTP:
Speaking of! The Boxer! It's one of the most romantic games I've ever played and I love it for that.
BROTP:
I've never actually headcanoned her being close to any of the other characters. I imagine she and Darzi probably knew each other socially, and that might have led her to meeting Lillian. I can also see Wave interviewing her for his show. I think the Sybil thing was one-sided, even on a merely friendship level. But if we branch out to other Supergiant titles, I think she and Pamitha would get along.
Head Canon:
Oh, lots. Off the top of my head, I think she came from very humble beginnings, even more so than Boxer. Part of her success was hard work, part was talent, but a lot of it was when she got lucky and received a Traverson scholarship. Given how quickly she takes to combat, I see her as scrappy and, as Boxer says, always having a plan, and I think coming up out of nowhere works well with that.
Unpopular Opinion:
Hmm, I'm not sure the fandom is divisive enough. (Thank goodness.) I've seen some fics that cast Red as extremely elegant and very polished, and like I said above, I see her as pretty hardscrabble and even emotionally cold at times. In my head, Boxer is the warmer, softer partner.
A wish:
I would love a comic adaptation of the game, especially if it leaned into the game's art style. Or a wish for Red herself? I mean, emotionally I want to think she and Boxer could find some way out of the Transistor. At the same time, it runs the risk of weakening the ending.
Please-don't-ever-happen:
Like the last question, I look at this in more of a meta way. Like, what could Supergiant do to Red that would really upset me? Expand on her story – no, that'd be exciting. A piece of media where she talked? That'd be great. A full album of Red songs? Yes, please! I guess I'd be upset if they continued the story and had Red and Boxer become disillusioned with each other – and they broke up permanently. I'm sorry, I just love them so much together.
5 words:
intense, elegant, relentless, loving, introspective
My nickname for them:
If I ever post any of my Transistor fic, I give her birthname as Elizabeth Muse Chlebek, Musie to her family, Red to everyone else.

Previously on Wren Reads Transistor: Naomi survived a sword to the heart courtesy of Chance her resident nanite swarm. When they managed to get back to the safety of Anika's apartment the angels Urielle, Raphael, and Gabriel were waiting for them hoping for a chat.

It’s truly wild how much the transistor sword and the soul vessel / exarch’s color scheme map onto each other. Thought about making the eye have a miqo pupil but it seemed too eye of Sauron to me lmao.

I get how Castoria metaphorically/symbolically became a sword, she's a Saberface after all, but did she like, metaphysically become Excalibur? Are we dating a literal sword now? Utena reference relevant

Red comes to Cloudbank at eighteen, and there spends the last nine years of her life.
Chapter Forty Five: We'll never be apart.
After nearly a year, The Muse of Last Songs is entirely posted! Thank you, everyone who's been reading! I know this is a monster of a fic, and a lot of it was based more on my speculations than anything else. It means so much to me that people have taken the time to read it, reblog different chapters, and leave comments. I wasn't expecting to get this much positive response, and knowing you people were enjoying the story made posting it so much more fun for me too.
This is only part one of a trilogy, so more is still to come. I'm going to take a break from posting it for a bit, just to rest up and allow people to read through as much as they need to. Updates for part two should start coming in early 2024.
Thank you (again and again) so much for reading and enjoying!
