Tumblr media
“guess what rachel just sent me.” you heard tom say when he arrived to your shared apartment.
“wedding invitations?!” you gasped as you almost stood up from the sofa since you were watching reruns of criminal minds, but tom stopped you.
“no, it’s better!” tom sat beside you and showed you his phone. “why didn’t you tell me you had a youtube channel?” on his phone screen was your review of the ballad of songbirds and snakes, which had become a very popular video over the past couple of days.
you hid your face with a pillow and groaned. “don’t remind me. i just wanted to talk about my books and my family didn’t care. don’t watch it! it’s embarrassing!”
“i think it’s cute. aw look, your dog made a cameo!” he pointed at your old dog you used to have that walked into the frame.
“indi! no, come sit right here. oh . . . and she’s walking away. okay, anyways.” your younger self said in the video
“indi? why Indi?” tom asked you even though you were still hiding from embarrassment.
“after indiana jones. my dad and i loved those movies and he gifted me indi as a birthday present.” you confessed.
“love, don’t be embarrassed. i think it’s cute that you manifested your life according to the comments on instagram,” tom paused the video then cuddled up to you. “i won’t watch it if you don’t want me to.”
“it’s fine, i just didn’t think anyone would find it. we can watch it together.” you uncovered yourself and sat down properly to watch the video with tom. before he pressed the play button and together you watch your younger self review the book.
“i’ve read all the hunger games books at least four times and this one did not disappoint. but i do hope whoever ends up being cast as young snow is someone hot. i’m sorry it’s the rules! and they will be my boyfriend, i’m calling dibs.”
tom smirked at you. “if only younger you could see you now.”
“she would definitely think ‘wow, how did we pull this beautiful man?’ then be confused as to why the hunger games and fnaf is trending in 2023.”

I’m not an OG Harringrove person (I call myself a member of the “second wave” lol I watched ST at the end of 2019 and got into the fandom while Harringrove for Australia was popping off in 2020) but I’ve noticed a reoccurring trend in posts/mentalities.
So many of us question how to be more active in fandom. What can we do differently that will get us more interactions? Really, what can we do to be more appreciated? During my time in this fandom, I’ve gathered good news and bad news:
The good news, is that any negligence we feel, isn’t our fault. We feel like something personal is going on, but really, everyone is just living their lives. So many OG’s are older, married, have kids, and have scary big kid jobs. People’s lack of interaction with us actually has nothing to do with us, and everything to do with them just trying to successfully exist lol
The bad news is that we, for some reason, are convinced that praise is intrusive. That rolling up into someone’s tumblr mailbox is the exact same as unlocking their house and yelling, “HEY. NICE COUCH. GOOD TASTE.”
I’ve been there, and I continue to visit this imposter syndrome place, because I’m a nasty little goblin who needs to be pat on the head as much as anyone else. Now for the deep dive:
Humans are pack creatures with an intrinsic need to create. Easy examples are food, and cliff drawings. It’s not enough to eat a banana right off a tree. We take the risk of putting it to fire and creating a different flavor profile. One of the oldest pieces of human art are some animal outline carvings in the side of some Egyptian cliffs that overlook a stretch of the Nile. Archeologists and anthropologists theorize that these are the first signage we ever made: “Hey heads up, these animals live in this mile-stretch of river. Yes, there’s deer here, but also hippos. Hunt wisely.”
These two traits combine into a neediness that doesn’t know how to be satisfied. Worse, we’re in a broken society that doesn’t celebrate the artist/creative anymore (if it ever really did). And that’s so hypocritical. Artists have kept people alive and happy just as much as the hunter and cook.
We create writing, art, edits, videos, etc and share share share share share....because it’s a stupid little wacky gift of stardust in our brains. This human trait trickles down into us making our silly little fanfics and art projects of rotten characters finding peace, getting plowed after a slow-burn, or just making tea for each other.
The honest truth is that creating isn’t enough. Yes, we do it for ourselves, and we always will. We need to create the same way we need water. The unfair flip side is that we also need our pack to answer us when we ring that bell.
All I can tell you is that life is hard, and more than likely, we see the stuff you’re posting for us. And we’re wildly grateful to you. We’re just trained to think that telling you how special you are, and how grateful we are, will make you disappear.
A star died eons ago and gave us its stardust. It’s unfair that shining is hard but we do see you.

EP Review - Here, Hear. IV – La Dispute (2024)
Tumblr media
This EP was the best gift that 2024 could give me, and we're still only in March. A game between the traumas in the stories recounted in La Dispute's first "great" albums - Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair (2008) and Wildlife (2011) - revolutionary for the experimental world of midwest emo, post-hardcore and the underground community in general, and the latest works of art that are most listened to and reflected on, which tell us through the details of everyday life, feelings, landscapes and images open to the listener's imagination - Rooms of the House (2014) and Panorama (2019) - when recitation becomes part of the post-hardcore trends.
Despite the pained voice and the contrasts that create the perfect synthesis of the guitars and bass, the rhythmic coherence of the drums and the literary personality of the band that has always been faithful to us from the beginning until today, elements that have created the "brand image", I notice that these geniuses of emo music don't mind experimenting with new electronics, the absence of screams and distortions, love, new ways of saying things. The fact that we can't catalog and put aesthetic labels on certain artists, because they are constantly metamorphosing and contradicting themselves with the genres given by fans and record companies, certain types of festivals and events, algorithms of streaming platforms, etc., is a proof that the post-hardcore of these bands that continue to record over the years is maturing as a movement. And this EP has made me reflect on my generation, which adapts to trends by not adapting to it at all. Perhaps silences and improbable harmonic resolutions are the oxygen pump for artists and listeners of music created in a studio as if it’s a laboratory.
Here, Hear. is a collection of four volumes, the first of which was released in 2008, the band's big bang year. In the four volumes, we can see that La Dispute exploded at the beginning and took their own advantage of the sounds in a very genuine, pure and direct way, unashamed to use unconventional instruments such as pianos, maracas and “folklorized” melodies - always recognizable on a timbral level, anyway - but it was in this last one, sixteen years later, that we see the band flourish, not in an explosive way as before, but always pure and honest. They reinforce simplicity and the timeless stories. Sixteen, the fourth song on the EP, and one that had been released before on Spotify, marks a new life of La Dispute: it reminds me of the walks I had to school when I was fourteen and of my first crush had dedicated the song Such Small Hands (2008) to me in anonymity; of the song Woman (In the Mirror) (2014) when I was always at home trying to discover my own way of (always hidden) teenage happiness. Today I've discovered how happy I can be and that the nostalgia for the sadness, heartbreak and melancholy that went on in the corners of my neighborhood while I listened to La Dispute's entire discography for most of the years I lived there is part of it. We were sad listening to sad music, and happiness, today, is based on that. This single, according to my empirical experience and to the community of fans writing online as well, reminds us of those nostalgic times.
And the group's aesthetic minimalism continues. Not just in the music, but in the band's overall image. And I'm enjoying watching it. The lyrics and stories increasingly make sense, since the instrumental part of the EP makes them prevail. In the song Reformation, which concludes the EP in a mode of ecstatic tranquillity, we have a beautiful guitar that harps along with Jordan Dreyer's unsung and unshouted voice. Just like that. Everything that the music of sensitive people needed to offer about the art of growing up and noticing life's little symbols, even when you drink your coffee in the morning before facing the life of an adult who is emotionally trapped by the years that have passed.
«You awake at 3AM to the soft voice of her dream, saying
"These are the people who said that you like him would never die
Until you do and you will and I will too
Just like this, baby, but longer, forever
And there's nothing past that door, I know it"
Before she drifts back to sleep where you can't now and it's okay
Peace be with you»

Week 3: Digital Community
From GIFs to Grooves: TikTok vs Tumblr
The world of social media is always changing like a chameleon constantly switching colors. It is continually changing and evolving. With the rise of TikTok, comparisons to platforms like Tumblr are inevitable, sparking the question: is TikTok the new Tumblr? Both platforms foster vibrant communities and short-form content, but they're very different on the surface.
Let's explore the similarities and stark contrasts between these platforms where people freely share themselves.
Format differences
Once a microblogging haven, Tumblr morphed into a platform primarily known for funny GIFs, pictures, and text. It became a breeding ground for fandoms, niche communities, and artistic expression (Mallory 2024). TikTok, on the other hand, is the king of short videos. Dance challenges, comedy skits, educational tutorials, and captivating trends dominate the app. While both emphasize user-generated content, the format changes the experience.
Tumblr media
Content focus
Even though both platforms help people express themselves and connect, what they offer is different. Tumblr offered a haven for in-depth discussions and niche communities. It is like a book club where you can discuss intensely with people who share your interests. TikTok is more like a quick show-and-tell, where you entertain others and connect through fun trends and reactions. They both serve different purposes, and their coexistence reflects the diverse needs of online communities.
Tumblr media
Algorithm architectures
Both platforms personalize user feeds, but they do it in different ways. Tumblr relied heavily on users' choices; it was more like a choose-your-own-adventure. With Tumblr, You choose what you see by following blogs and hashtags. TikTok's algorithm is a black box (SCS Agency 2023). The app decides what you see based on what you like and watch. It's like a surprise box of content, always keeping you on your toes. In addition, this can be refreshing but also unpredictable (Eloise 2019).
Monetization models
While both offer monetization options, the paths diverge. Tumblr primarily relied on ads, with limited success. TikTok, however, empowers creators through brand partnerships, virtual gifts, and direct e-commerce integration (Nugent 2020). This creates a "creator economy" where people can build careers just from being on TikTok.
youtube
Surprisingly similarity
Even though they're different, both platforms are all about people creating stuff, sharing it quickly, and connecting with others. First, Tumblr lets you express yourself with text, images, and GIFs, building deeper connections with people who share your passions. TikTok condenses it into 60-second videos, creating vibrant communities around trends and shared reactions. However, both platforms allow people to be creators, not just viewers, and show off their creativity in their own way. Although these online spaces cater to different needs and offer different experiences, they both focus on community, and short bursts of creativity show how we can express ourselves online and how the internet keeps changing.
Tumblr media
So, is TikTok the New Tumblr?
Instead of viewing them as replacements, we should appreciate their distinct roles in the digital landscape. Tumblr caters to in-depth exploration and niche communities, while TikTok thrives on quick entertainment and shared trends. They both offer valuable spaces for self-expression, and their coexistence reflects the diverse ways we engage online.
So, while they share some similarities, calling TikTok the "new Tumblr" ignores their unique identities and experiences. They coexist as separate chapters in the ongoing story of online self-expression.
The Verdict
However, it depends on what you value most in a social media platform. Do you want to have in-depth discussions or watch funny videos? Do you like to connect with people who share your interests or be exposed to new trends? Ultimately, the choice is yours!

Hi Sarah! What a fun premiere look. Loved her hair/nod to OG 1989 with a natural curl refresh, and loved her dress and nail color. Agree with what you said about a champagne or silver shoe color to tie together but I understand why she may have chosen tonal for the 1989 effect.
I’ve loved her use of fun eyeshadow color in many past looks (have the Rolling Stone cover framed—the one with her wearing orange and yellow eyeshadow from October 2019), but for reasons I can’t explain, I didn’t enjoy the blue shadow, or really anything about her makeup? Still seems heavy or some word I don’t know, to my personal eye, and I don’t understand the extra lip liner trend or the trick they do to make her top lip fuller than usual, but I do understand it’s A Thing, and I love that she’s experimenting!
It was a v fun premiere look and I love hearing your take in the captions you always gift to us 💚
Aw tysm I love this. After looking at mup closeups I actually want to affirm how fun I think the powder blue is. V angelic and retro.

Cleopatra Sara Rai Hexley
Cleo Hexley transferred to Hogwarts School from Ilvermorny for her NEWTs, with dreams of becoming a magical art historian and anthropologist. It soon transpired, however, that the majority of Cleo’s peers were more interested in her face than her mind. After she grew tired of being the face of the Egwu fashion house, Cleo embarked on a career as a tour guide for Globus Mundi Wizarding Travel Agents, where she was able to use her looks, charms, and knowledge, all at once.
Tumblr media
Profile
Born: 24th May 2000 (Gemini)

Gender identity: witch (she/her)
Sexuality: bicurious.
Personality
Myers-Briggs Type: ENFP (Campaigner)

Weight: as an adult, 58kg
Hair: dark brown, almost black, thick, wavy-curly.
Eyes: brown with a ring of green around pupil.
Skin: brown.
Defects: none.
Style: Varies - Cleo receives many gifts of clothing from wizarding fashion outlets, which means that she is easily able to keep up with the latest trends. At home, she will wear whatever she feels most comfortable in, which is usually either lounge/sportswear or loose-fitting clothes made from light, floaty materials.
Faceclaim: Simone Ashley
Witchcraft
Wand: Cherry and Wampus Cat Hair
This very rare wand wood creates a wand of strange power, most highly prized by the wizarding students of the school of Mahoutokoro in Japan, where those who own cherry wands have special prestige. The Western wand-purchaser should dispel from their minds any notion that the pink blossom of the living tree makes for a frivolous or merely ornamental wand, for cherry wood often makes a wand that possesses truly lethal power, whatever the core.
Animagus form: none.
Patronus: bat.
Boggart: the floor beneath her turns into a view from a great height.
Riddikulus: none - Cleo has found that the best way to get rid of her Boggart is to jump/step on it.

Worst Subjects: Flying (Cleo has an extreme fear of heights!)
At Hogwarts
Hogwarts House: none, temporary student.
Best subject(s): History of Magic, Muggle Studies
Worst subject(s): none - Cleo arrived in the N.E.W.T. year and only chose subjects that she enjoyed/was good at.
N.E.W.T. Subjects: History of Magic, Ancient Runes, Muggle Studies, Astronomy, Transfiguration, Defence Against the Dark Arts.
Quidditch position: none.
After Hogwarts
July 2018-February 2019: Apprentice at the Department of Magical Artefacts, British Ministry of Magic
December 2018-January 2021: Model and muse for the Egwu fashion house.
March 2021-present: tour organiser, Globus Mundi travel agency.
Relationships
Family:
Jacob Hexley (father) and Angelica Cole (mother) - Cleo’s parents separated when she was very young, but maintain a somewhat cordial relationship, if only for her sake. Cleo spent her childhood between her parents’ homes and is close with both of them, but sometimes feels as if they have too high expectations for her - she is not as academic as her father, nor is she as brave as her troll-trainer and former Quidditch champion mother, neither of whom were particularly happy with her decision to leave her career in magical artefact restoration barely after it had begun.
Sara Kowalski-Hexley (grandmother) - Cleo’s grandmother Sally is always hard to read. Though somewhat distant, she is generally affectionate to Cleo, even if she occasionally seems to put up walls around herself.
Artemis Hexley (aunt) - Cleo has only met her aunt a handful of times, but she has heard plenty of stories about her from her father.
Quentin Kowalski (second cousin) - cousin Quentin is a Quidditch prodigy, the youngest ever Chaser to make the US National team. He has tried to encourage Cleo onto a broom many times, never with much success.
Friends:
Rylie Hopper-Lee - Rylie was tasked with looking after Cleo when she first arrived at Hogwarts, and the two bonded over their love of art, history, ancient runes, and ice cream @thatravenpuffwitch
Danielle Parkin - Dana was the first person to make a point of introducing herself to Cleo, and after discovering a mutual love of trashy romance novels, became book sharing buddies @lifeofkaze
Zadie Taylor-Allen and Victoire Weasley - Cleo and Victoire vaguely knew each other through their families, and both she and Zadie were always pleasant to Cleo during her time at Hogwarts, unlike one of their friends…
Andre Egwu - Cleo was ‘discovered by the head designer of the Egwu fashion house at sixteen, and after agreeing to the occasional fashion shoot to get a bit of extra pocket money, eventually signed up to work for him as a full-time model, having grown tired of no one taking her seriously in the field she was working in. Though he is somewhat judgemental, Cleo appreciates Andre’s ability to see and say things as they are, and he quickly became a sort of surrogate uncle figure to her.
Love interests: None, yet.
Pets: Cleo’s father owns a few owls, but she has no pets herself.
Rivals:
Rory McTavish - Rory is just the worst, honestly. Cleo doesn’t understand what Rylie sees in him.
Reva Amari - Reva and Cleo have absolutely nothing in common, and so a close friendship was never on the cards. Unfortunately, Reva seemed to take Cleo’s disinterest personally. @lifeofkaze
Duncan Ludwig - Duncan and Cleo immediately got off on the wrong foot after Duncan decided to prank her shortly after arriving at Hogwarts. He was nothing but friendly to her after that, but Cleo hasn’t been able to trust him since. @usernoneexistent
Ancestry: as the daughter of Jacob Hexley, Cleo is the descendent of Jim and Héloïse Hexley, Ophelia Burke, and Jacob and Queenie Kowalski. Via her French lineage, she is a direct descendant of Morgan Le Fay.

3. i have 1357 liked songs! i occasionally do a cleanup tho (removing songs i never listen to) so i suspect i’ll wheedle it down to a better number hehe ~. (it’s probably small compared to others tbh lmao 💞)
7. I got ocean breeze by surfaces! I love songs that remind me of summer (I’m sad it flew by so quickly! Until next summer and hopefully an opportunity to feel that ocean breeze! 🌊) my favourite lyric is “Feel you there / Next to me / As I slowly fade into your ocean breeze” ☂️
17. I very recently got into podcasts! I find that they help me focus at work. I used to listen to the Tiny Meat Gang one back in 2019 lmao (I’ve found some gems surprisingly from that) but most recently I’ve been listening to Mina Le’s podcast “High Brow”!! She talks a lot about fashion and trends esp in historical contexts and she’s just a very fun and eloquent speaker! I LOVE her YouTube videos - her dissections and analyses are always SO well-researched and you can tell she has such a genuine passion for fashion (like Bratz lol). if anyone has any podcast recs tho lemme know!! 💧
again thank you for the ask! you gave me the gift of fun!! 💝

6 times ATINYs called out artists for plagiarizing ATEEZ
Tumblr media
Plagiarism remains one of the gravest issues in the K-pop industry, and ATEEZ has had its fair share of disappointments regarding the same. The eight-member boy band has repeatedly pointed out that several artists have allegedly plagiarized their concepts, ideas, choreographies, and costumes, among other things.
ATINYs, the group's fandom, has actively called out any similarities or resemblances with ATEEZ's original works. The most recent VATA controversy after Wooyoung's 'Biting' incident is proof of this tendency.
The Street Man Fighter and We Dem Boyz' leader VATA was accused of imitating ATEEZ's signature step from their 2019 hit Say My Name for his New Thing challenge.

View this post on Instagram
A post shared by Vata (바타) (@vata_500)
Despite incessant public callouts by ATINYs and K-pop idols like E'last's Won Hyuk, VATA's official statement addressing the plagiarism controversy was not considered satisfactory. Instead, it went on to discard any claims of plagiarism.
This, however, is not the first time that ATEEZ has taken notice of artists copying their hard work. From (G)-IDLE's Soyeon to JYPE's rookie girl group NMIXX, various artists have been blatantly called out by ATNIYs for allegedly plagiarizing the Deja Vu group.
Soyeon's SUN, E. Skhillz's Odg, and more: Six times artists came under the ATINY radar for plagiarizing ATEEZ
Tumblr media
1) Soyeon's SUN controversy
(G)-IDLE's Soyeon was wrapped in plagiarism controversies after her song SUN's composition was dramatically similar to ATEEZ's 2019 release Wave. The K-pop idol performed the song on the finale episode of MBC's girl group audition program My Teen Girl, which aired on February 27.
The track was supposed to be a gift for the contestants from Soyeon (mentor) but instead drew attention for all the wrong reasons. ATINYs quickly pointed out the similarities between SUN and Waveand demanded an explanation. The artist's company, CUBE Entertainment, released a statement acknowledging the resemblance and apologized for not crediting the rightful producers despite the issue being known by both Soyeon and MBC.
2) MONOPOLY's album cover
Tumblr media
ATINYs rushed to call out another artist named 'MONOPOLY' after they released the cover for their single album HOLYMOLY, which had a drastic resemblance with ATEEZ's fourth Extended Play Treasure Epilogue: Action to Answer's cover. The incident occurred in 2020 but did not gain attraction until the recent plagiarism controversy by VATA.
Unfortunately, little to no information is available about MONOPOLY, but according to some fans, the artist wanted to draw inspiration from the Fireworks crooners and meant no malice. He recognized his fault, apologized, and later changed the cover of his album, a move much appreciated by ATINYs.
3) Ammonit's REVERSE cover
Yet another lesser-known artist Ammonit was called out by ATINYs for copying the K-pop band's traditional design of styling their album covers of the ZERO: FEVER series. The two covers' uncanny similarity was brought to light by fans on social media, leading the artist to change their design. Like MONOPOLY, little to no information is available about Ammonit.
4) TRINITY's music concept dispute
TRINITY is a three-member Thai pop boy band that was formed in 2019. The group came under the ATINY radar for copying ATEEZ's Deja Vu concept pictures. One member was seen donning the same outfit as Wooyoung. Furthermore, fans also accused them of plagiarizing the group's March 2021 release Fireworks.
According to them, TRINITY's Life Ain't Over music video, released in December 2021, offered similar scenes and aesthetics as Fireworks(I'm the One). The fans demanded clarifications from the artists' company, 4nologue, and trended the hashtag #AtinyAskedForClarificationFrom4nologue. They constantly spread awareness of the alleged plagiarism and made relentless efforts to refrain people from insulting the artists.
5) Eltee Skhillz's Odg
Eltee Skhillz is a Nigerian singer who garnered the spotlight after his song Odg (March 2022) was allegedly declared a carbon copy of ATEEZ's The Real and Say My Name. ATINYs were furious over the artist's blatant plagiarism and disregard for the eight-member band's diligent labor. According to the description of Odg's music video on YouTube, Skhillz aimed to draw inspiration from the boy band. It reads,
“Partly inspired by ATEEZ "The Real" and "Say my name" music video”
From wearing similar costumes, including Hongjoong's blue hanbok, to delivering the same aesthetics, the Nigeran singer was accused of doing something unoriginal. ATINYs remain enraged over the artist's obliviousness towards cultural appropriation.
According to them, the mere mention in the description is the height of unprofessionalism and is appalling. They demanded that KQ Entertainment take legal action against Skhillz and give the artists due credit, but the agency continues to maintain silence over the situation to date.
6) NMIXX's chaotic debut
JYPE's rookie girl group NMIXX had a rocky start in the K-pop industry. The band's debut single OO met with extreme criticism after plagiarism allegations surfaced from ATINYs. From a pirate-themed ship, often used in ATEEZ's music videos such as Illusion and Pirate King, to following similar sets, concepts, and themes, JYP Entertainment came under fire for not only copying the Answercrooners but also jeopardizing the rookie girls' career.
Fans pointed out the stark resemblance in some of their lyrics, furthering the massive outrage online. Netizens also noted that DIGIPEDI, the studio that produced OO, has also teamed up with ATEEZ for some projects; hence, the similarities arose. However, according to ATINYs, this does not give them a free pass, and they should have been accountable for their actions. Unfortunately, no official statement was released by JYP Entertainment regarding this incident.
ATEEZ has one of the most dedicated and loyal fandoms of all time. ATINYs perpetually advocate for their favorite artists. They are ever-ready to come to the group's rescue and will call out artists who plagiarize the group's work.

Strength and Weaknesses
Strengths
Growing up in a family of 8 and not even close to rich, we always had to be creative, resourceful and entertaining. I believe this to be the foundation of my discoveries regarding strengths.
Finding deals, I love the hunt! Whether I go instore or online I really enjoy finding a blowout sale, and if I go thrifting, I ALWAYS find thee FIND (no lies) my family and friends refer to this as my gift!  With this gift mixed in with the entrepreneurial spirit in me I like to find ways to make a flip AKA a profit.
Recognizing trends and learning a new skill is also one of my strengths, specifically when it comes to hair and fashion. Back in 2019, when individual lashes started to boom, I went to train and become a lash technique. Mind you I have 4 sisters, so it seemed like the most logical thing at the time to do.
I naturally like advocating on behalf of others and this makes me feel amazing when I can help others navigate systems. I think this has a lot to do with being a big sister
Areas I am looking to improve are as follows
Time management. “Works well under pressure” is a phrase I have come too comfortable using but I recognized that is not the best approach and planning and getting things handled way ahead of time allows for processes to be smoother and hiccups to be addressed and handled. Another skill I am looking to improve is in the area of leadership and delegation am I super hard on myself and believe only I can do it and I have a hard time letting go

ABOUT THOSE HIGH END INGREDIENTS: I have a Brain hole for you all!
Found a coincidence, but as usual it's shared. Who follows whom is the question. As far as I can see our couple is most up to date!
1/20/2023 Biotherm our "High End" man [高端男士] 30
Tumblr media
and here on February 3rd "Valentine's Day, start for love, run in both directions. What's the coolest gift this Valentine's Day" haha new term high-end, old term "Cool" and running in both directions powered by love. Well, then...let's check with 88.
Tumblr media
For 88, she has multiple high-end references as does the other side, but let's try to be up-to-date. Keep in mind Biotherm is one of his newer endorsements along with Condense.
September 2022 near the new year.
Tumblr media
High-End and her appear from 2019 to now with yogurt (2021), nutritional supplements (2022), and things like luxury brands like Dior (2023) so this is the most recent.
Indeed, these "high end ingredients" make a great pair, don't you think? Remember this is the same line from sweeping the building about 88's lovely drawing. The cutest part of that whole thing was their expression when they learned they couldn't keep the drawings - they truly looked upset. Poor, cute things. @Pekomi captured it so well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"gao" might be a key term this year! Let's all try to keep up with the trends.

The KonMari Cure
Tumblr media
[originally written April 9 2019]
Tidying Up with Marie Kondo took the internet by storm, and naturally received critics against the KonMari Method in return. But the 15 minutes of fame glossed over the deeper meaning of the method— something established centuries ago, long before Marie Kondo ever even tried vertical folding.
I set the timer for 20 minutes. My face, stripped bare from two consecutive facial cleansers, feels like it’s being deeply pampered with this Glossier Mega Greens Galaxy Pack detoxifying face mask. Of course, my skin turns a bright shade of red every time I use it and I break out the next day, but this thing was not cheap, so maybe the seventh try’s the charm. I sit on the corner of my bed, folding the pile of clothes that’s been growing on my chair all week. To feel productive and smart, I put on a Spotify podcast telling me how to build the habits of successful people and prioritize my mental health, or something along those lines. I usually get bored around two minutes into the podcasts anyways, so I eventually turn to Netflix instead.
Ringing in the start of 2019, Tidying Up with Marie Kondo has taken over not only Netflix home screens, but nearly every part of online media. The signature approach to decluttering known as the KonMari Method claims to deep clean a house in such a way that it will never have to be deep cleaned again. By discarding possessions from easiest to most difficult (clothes, books, papers, miscellaneous, sentimental items) and subsequently using unique tricks (such as folding clothes vertically) for organization, Marie Kondo intends to rekindle the joy and gratitude in people for the things that matter the most. Given this, the KonMari Method’s widespread popularity and supposedly “life-changing magic” are usually the two criteria necessary for my next attempt at a self-care trend. I’m a total self-help junkie. The “Treat Yo Self” mentality has trapped me in this endless cycle of constant destressing, leaving me to wonder whether the consistency itself proves that it doesn’t work. A one-time, everlasting change such as the KonMari Method therefore seems like it would be my cure. It’s just my luck, then, that this one-time cure has already been tried before.
Three years ago, Marie Kondo’s book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, was gifted to me on my birthday. After that initial rush of inspiration, I quickly dove into purging my closet. This closet consisted of four separate hanger rods, five additional shelves of folded clothing, and overhead storage packed with bins of everything from old schoolwork to stuffed animals, to gift bags and book collections. The senselessness of this organization could make a grown woman cry— and it did. My mother would wince every time she opened my door, as if the bursting amount of clothes induced slight physical pain. I knew that most of the things in that closet were kept for sentimental reasons rather than actual use, but the stress of the clutter had finally outweighed the good memories. After three long summer months, I had filled four garbage bags with my middle-school wardrobe, and packed cardboard boxes with old school supplies and unappreciated toys. I was just about done decluttering this section of my life, when my mother stopped me from tossing it out. For whatever reasons — sentimental, financial or perhaps logical — she refused to let these goods go to waste by giving them away. That was three years ago. The bags still sit in our spare room today, as the literal embodiment of my emotional baggage.
These feelings against the KonMari Method aren’t uncommon. Many people criticize the minimalist lifestyle for being bougie and unrealistic, or something exclusively for rich white people (although KonMari and minimalism are two distinct ideas, both include the fundamental step of throwing things out and living with less). In truth, some of these criticisms may be valid— out of every self-help method I have tried, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up is without a doubt the most abstract, most arbitrary, and most spiritually-based thing I’ve never completed. However, it’s this very unrestricted element that makes it so easily applicable to more than just decluttering your space. KonMari isn’t just a passing trend or some falsely advertised miracle cure— it’s a mindset that has ancient philosophical roots, which speak to much more than just some trendy Ikea furniture and Apple MacBook aesthetic.
Minimalists at first glance seem to be just one of the many types of people in the world, like those who fill their daily Vitamix smoothie with chia seeds, goji berries and acai powder before their morning 5k run, and those who don’t. The minimalism undertones of KonMari, namely the mass decluttering and disposal of your possessions, are often criticized to be classist and irrational for those struggling to make ends meet. After all, the problem of having too much can only arise if you have something in the first place. Furthermore, minimalism (and by consequence, KonMari) has been associated with white privilege in developed countries. Those raised in developing countries (and their children) often have different cultural views of materialism, which can continue to thrive even after starting life in a developed country. Clearly, KonMari critics are coming from all angles to prove the problematics and “cancel” the next big thing. Though it’s easy to simply dismiss the criticism as overthinking, the real life impacts of class and culture on materialism do not stray far from the critics’ messages.
“Minimalism typically arises in circumstances of plenty,” Rachel said. Given such a lofty subject, Rachel MacKinnon, a philosophy graduate student at the University of Toronto, helped me trace the roots of the KonMari Method all the way back to Ancient Greece. In general, ancient minimalist philosophies avoided attachment to material goods to rule out any possible pain that would arise were they to be taken away. “But these philosophies were all written by pretty wealthy people,” Rachel explained, “who were happy to give the illusion of being able to live without their wealth, knowing that they won’t actually face conditions of scarcity anytime soon.” The image of an old philosopher living only on bread and water by choice, knowing that he has the means to indulge in delicacies if he ever chooses to do so, is not far off from our modern day idea of the “minimalist” with a small closet full of high-end, monochromatic designer clothing. Even at its origins, minimalism appears to have been an elitist lifestyle. “Minimalism didn’t appeal to me when I grew up poor,” Rachel added, casually. Coming from a humble maritime home to her current downtown apartment, she admits to thinking about how her values have changed. “Now that I live in Toronto, it’s suddenly very compelling— I only need minimalism because I have stuff.”
The living room had stacks of plastic storage bins lining the walls, which shrunk the already confined room. Inside the bins sat old phone books, TV guides, receipts, school supplies, and various papers. The narrow hallway to the bedrooms no longer served as a hallway, but rather as home to rows and rows of these same bins. The only way to bed was through the kitchen, since the dining area was lost in even more piles of paper. With five people living in a two-bedroom apartment, the bedroom wasn’t much of an escape either. “I hated it,” Joanne said. “I hated that we didn’t have a dinner table. I really wanted a family dinner, but we never had one.”
“If you asked my dad what sparks joy for him, he would say that everything sparks joy.” Joanne Banh is in her fourth year at the University of Toronto, and is the Co-Vice President of the University of Toronto Vietnamese Students’ Association. Her family struggled in the past with her father’s intense hoarding problem. “My dad was a Vietnamese refugee whose family lost everything while moving to Canada. Obviously it’s not the case for everybody, but maybe there’s that harbouring fear that he’ll lose it all again. It’s hard for me to understand, because I didn’t live through that.” About 8 years ago, Joanne, along with her brothers and her mother, took a year to clean out the apartment, but her father slowly grew his collection again. “I guess it just became habit,” she said. “It’s easier to just throw it in the bin, forget about it, and have it pile up.” Given that they lived in the predominantly white city of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Joanne would use the excuse that her home was just too ethnic to have friends over. She would avoid the topic, and they would avoid the space.
The KonMari critics may have a point, to some extent. KonMari isn’t a guaranteed miracle cure for deep-seated issues with materialism such as hoarding, nor is it typically impressive to those who already involuntarily live with less. Even as a certified KonMari consultant, Michele Delory admits that the KonMari Method has not worked for everyone. “I once had a client who was going through personal things in her life,” Michele said. “Sometimes she would leave me in her home, and obviously it doesn’t work when the person’s not there. She was the only one who couldn’t follow through with it.”
Be that as it may, to say that KonMari isn’t for everybody is not to say that it’s worthless. Those who do complete the KonMari method rarely, if ever, revert back to their previous ways of life. Living her own minimalist lifestyle for the past three years and doing KonMari consultations in and around the city of Toronto, Michele has never lost faith in the method. “With every change that you make in your life, you have to first change your mindset, or else it won’t actually happen,” Michele said. In regard to that particular client, Michele believes that her mindset was the issue: “She was seeking happiness, but she wasn’t looking for it in the right way. She thought that I would just magically do it for her.” Michele still keeps in touch with past clients who regularly show her images of their organized homes, months after her consultations. Though the KonMari skeptics may remain unsure of Marie Kondo’s seemingly paradoxical anti-consumerist business model, they can’t deny the reality of Michele’s joy as a living, breathing minimalist and KonMari expert. What better way to understand the KonMari Method than straight from the horse’s (or the certified horse consultant’s) mouth?
“The philosophies of minimalism and KonMari are very similar to each other because it’s all about having a more meaningful life,” Michele explained, “but KonMari is considered different because if you really want to have 100 pairs of shoes that spark joy, you can.” This is where KonMari is often dismissed as unreliable, for its extreme subjectivity. Yet, this concept was not simply pulled out of thin air by a single peppy, 4-foot-7 Japanese woman (not that there’s anything wrong with being a single peppy, 4-foot-7 Japanese woman, just that historical evidence of the same argument can often provide more support than a single individual). The idea of minimalism in philosophy began close to the Roman Era near the end of Greek political stability, and if Marie Kondo were alive then, she might’ve been labelled as a bit of an Epicurean.
Contrary to popular beliefs of minimalist philosophies (if any beliefs of philosophies can even be said to be popular), Epicureans thought that pleasure was the good. “The point isn’t to deprive yourself,” Rachel clarified about the school of thought. “It’s to give yourself a comfortable life.” Epicureans divided pleasures into different categories based on their level of disruption, defined by how much further pain the pleasure could cause down the road. Keeping something that you love and use regularly, for example, is much less disruptive than keeping something unappreciated that constantly has to be stored and reorganized in the future. The absence of pain, for the Epicureans, also counted as a pleasure. In KonMari, the disposal of unwanted material goods is better than the stress of keeping them stored somewhere in your household. “As long as on the whole, you’re enjoying your life more than you’re not,” Rachel said, “the Epicureans gave you a much more general guideline.” Thus, although you could be a perfect Epicurean and live on only bread and water, they wouldn’t mind if you had a bit of tea — a bit of extra pleasure, like a cherished shoe collection — so long as it wasn’t too disruptive. No one said that you had to be an Epicurean, just that if you wanted to maximize pleasure, this was their way of doing so.
In the same way, the KonMari philosophy is much more lenient than most minimalist methods. “There shouldn’t be rules to the amount of stuff you have,” Michele said, “because then it becomes very competitive. It should be a positive experience when you’re going through a change like that.” Michele wears a couple basic pieces in her wardrobe, which she continues to style over five years after their purchases. She lives with her non-minimalist husband and eight year old son, who is by no means deprived of his own collection of books and toys. Her mother has not embraced minimalism or KonMari either, which Michele attributes to her cultural values back in the Philippines. Michele is not a radical minimalist living out of a backpack, but she is a genuine woman that seeks to have less stress, less anxiety, less material goods, more gratitude, more experiences, and more purpose in her everyday life. She is minimizing pain and maximizing pleasure. The KonMari Method does not claim to be the only path to happiness, but like Epicureanism, if you want the things that bring you joy, why not just choose them? History truly does repeat itself, and the KonMari Method is the ultimate revival of an age-old philosophical idea that’s finally getting its moment in the spotlight.
The real question of it all is: do I pick the rejuvenating, refreshing, or revitalizing face mask today? At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if one of them had life-changing magic slapped across the label, either. I could also pick none of them. Instead of adding another mask, another podcast, another quick fix to my chronic stress, I could step back and focus on why I’m driven to so much self-care in the first place. Clearly, these methods don’t bring as much pleasure to me as I thought, but maybe I’m going in for the wrong reasons. Maybe I’m seeking happiness, and I’m expecting these things to just magically do it for me. Maybe instead of choosing the right pleasures, I’ve been dealing with disruptive pain. Sure, vertical folding doesn’t solve everything, but maybe changing my mindset to one that cultivates the good instead of running away from the bad is what KonMari is all about.
Whenever people are about to come over, my mother goes into a berserk state of cleaning to the point where it seems like no one actually eats, sleeps or breathes in that house. Out of all the minimalism achievements and KonMari success stories that Michele told me, the one that struck me the most was this: Michele is an Airbnb host for one of the rooms in her home. She has guests coming and going every day. “There’s no clutter in my home, to be honest,” she said. “I’ve been able to create a space that I feel good about, and I don’t ever have to worry about guests coming in. I don’t have to say ‘let me clean up first’, I never have that excuse.” If that doesn’t sound like the closest thing to a cure from chronic stress, to me, I don’t know what will.

as we all know i’ve been on my kpop bullshit for a long time so heres a new series im gonna call cursed but mostly forgotten kpop trends!
todays episode: the inkigayo sandwich circa 2018/2019
this went viral around when jennie and kai were dating because someone said it was common for idols to slip their phone numbers into the wrapper and gift the sandwich to someone as a way to discretely give out their phone number. all that is fine and dandy but if i remember correctly, this sandwich had imitation crab, egg salad, and strawberry jam distributed between three slices of bread. idols were raving about it and people were speculating that this is how jennie and kai got together so naturally everyone and their mother (including the lovely mother of a couple of my friends) was making this sandwich to see why it was so popular among kpop idols and eventually versions of it made their way to the shelves of korean convenience stores. i remember it being pretty unremarkable, tasting like all the ingredients at the same time but none necessarily complimenting the rest. eventually the trend faded into obscurity only to be dragged from the recesses of my mind at moments when im burdened with the memory of it

THE NAIL INDUSTRY IN BEAUTY WORLD
The nail industry is attaining popularity in today’s world as now the female are concerned not only about their hair and makeup but also are focused that their nails look perfect.
The nail extensions ,the actual term with which you are familiar was not very  common until 2019 in India .But  with the revolution  in internet services and the globalization it is possible that we came across the term nail extensions and now it’s a trend to have their nails done whenever it’s a special occasion whether it be a Birthday Bash or any other function .
Earlier it was seen that only rich strata of the economy was tilted towards nail industry but nowadays everyone whether rich or poor are crazy about getting their nails done .Although nail extension are way too expensive  as it is very time consuming for the nail technician to give perfect nails to the customers. Nail extensions helps to enhance the look of the nails as they look classy and elegant. Therefore, giving a very finished appearance to their hands .
THE NAIL EXTENSION AND ITS TYPES:
i)Full tip nail extensions these extensions are the most basic ones in which the fake nails are pasted on the original nails with the help of glue .
ii) Acrylic nail extensions – In this type of nail extension a powder which is known as acrylic is used to create a nail with the help of monomer and it is cured in uv lamp to make it hard and unbreakable.
iii) Gel nail extensions – The most common form of nail extensions is gel nail extensions in which a gel is used to form a nail but this process is quite painful for sensitive customers as the gel produces heat when placed in uv lamp.
iv) Polygel nail extensions – Nowadays polygel nail extension have also came into existence as nail technicians were finding ir difficult to handle acrylic or gel product. So the alternate is polygel which is the mixture of both acrylic and gel and make the product quite manageable.
These are the types of nail extensions but Gel nail extensions is the most common one which people prefer in India because they don’t know any other form of extensions and they believe that it is the most convenient one.
Not only the nail extensions but there are thousands of nail art designs including the line nail art ,ombre effect, stone work ,sticker art ,3D art, dot nail art  as well which makes it even more creative.
As the beauty world is an art of creativity  ,nail industry plays a vital role in enhancing the quality and beauty of the nails .
The only thing which concerns me about nail industry is its affordability and it is very expensive for being everyone’s cup of tea but I believe that with the passage of time this problem will also be addressed and there will be related solutions available.
In conclusion ,nail industry is a growing business and is going to have a bright future as female do not even think twice when it comes to the things which will enhance their beauty .
