i know this is about asking for my thoughts and hcs but i wanted to draw ranpo from memory so here u go c:

ok so this is coming from a fan who stopped catching up with bsd for like months. so forgive me if i miss details about ranpo, i'm still getting back into bsd

thoughts below the cut

he's a first fav! i got into bsd because i genuinely thought it was a detective solving mystery anime... nevertheless, i found ranpo cute and clever!! i'm usually drawn to the detective types and his straightforward way of going things is so entertaining and admirable for me, who relates more to poe who's more complicated in going about things...

ranpo's interesting to me because while he is confident in his skills and lets it be known to anyone and everyone who comes across him, that confidence is also fragile to me?

we're introduced to this image he's built over the years, but overtime, these pages were the most memorable to me whenever i think of ranpo

his confidence feels so solid until you take a closer look and realize that confidence can't survive without other people to validate this image he built up. it reflects such a common human experience for me and to me, is what humanizes him?

he's so good at what he does! he's skilled and that skill saves his found family plenty of times! as well as many civilians! and he clings on to that accomplishment as his sole identity most of the time

this is not just a fear of what he doesn't know, that second "i don't know" is so personal, as if his identity is shattered because for once, the very thing he's good at can't solve the situation in front of him.

if you ask me, the most intriguing thing about him is how he carries himself, how he carries his identity.

onto hcs!

insane sweet tooth but has times where he's picky on the sweetness level of the dessert he gets

doesn't have textural issues with food, but may struggle with combined flavors in his food ("if it's sweet, it should stay sweet! if it's salty, it should stay salty!" those flavors cannot mix into one food item unless it's savory food)

keeps a comb in his pocket to style his bangs as spiked out looking as possible! probably gets gifted said comb by mushitaro so he can take care of the knots in his hair

does not care about personal space but may feel one way or another about someone suddenly invading his personal space

loves to give oddly specific nicknames to his co-workers at the agency to remember them better

I love how you draw Grim the size of a small cat. It genuinely blows my mind that according to the game he's actually approximately 70 cm tall... Like, Ortho is 148 cm. That's only two Grims! If Grim stands on Ortho's head, they'd be just a bit taller than Malleus (who is 202 cm and I'm not sure that's counting the horns)! The proportions are just so wild to try to imagine realistically... (and I do like the small cat Grim take more, it's very endearing)

every time I remember Grim is actually supposed to be the size of, like, a medium-to-largeish dog, and then I just...draw him cat-sized anyway. I also think it's cuter that way! 🤷 (let's just say he's not allowed to ride the servant unless he takes the shrinking potion first.)

ultimately I figure we all get a little artistic license in our fanart, and mine are:

Ah, we finally get to her. Well, this is Tuna Melt Cookie

So basically, her character is that she runs a game show. I think at the time I was watching someone talk about Total Drama, so she's something like Chris from that show. Including being a sociopath who doesn't really care that about the well being of her contestants and thinks it makes good entertainment. And considering she's got two gods for parents, her show is probably even more extreme. She's not as bad as someone like Shadow Milk though, and she probably has some actual friends

She probably also has a mermaid form, but she generally likes staying on land since there's more Cookies there to watch struggle

Also fun fact, her covered eye has black eye lines instead of white like her other one. Which would have been more cool and unique if Shadow Milk didn't already do that (also fun fact, I actually knew someone in one class in high school who actually had different colored eyelashes and eyebrows. One side was blonde and the other brown, apparently she was just born with it. I've wanted to mention it since Shadow Milk but never found the right time to say)

Anyways, on to her name. So Tuna Melt isn't exactly a name that fits with the likes of Black Pearl and Timekeeper, but I like it anyways. And my canon explanation is that Timekeeper picked it because it was funny

Anyways, so the name comes from the fact that is has fish in it, like Black Pearl sort of is, it's a sandwich that involves bread because I keep thinking croissants are bread, and the cheese fits with Timekeeper's color scheme

Tuna melt:

So Tuna Melt's generally red and yellow color scheme comes from the food. I think I was originally planning on making the red blue, but I experimented with red and asked a Discord group which looks better and they said the red. Also it somewhat sets her apart

The thick yellow lines in her hair are supposed to be a reference to the very thick slices of cheese that I kept finding when I looked up tuna melt, not to mention it fits with Timekeeper's color scheme. The rest of her hair I guess is the tuna

The white sparkles are supposed to be a reference to Black Pearl since she has those in her hair and bottom of her tail, as well as the bottom of her legs having the gradient. Also, it works with her flashy game show host aesthetic

Her little jabot (I think that's the right word) is another reference to BP, with the frills being like an upside down version of Black Pearl's shell and the brooch being like her gem

The coattails on her outfit were also supposed to be a reference to tuna fish tails, since I thought the design just needed a little bit more pizzazz. That's also why she has the gold leg thing

But yeah overall, she's another banger design to me, and I hope you enjoy her too

Surprisingly, the cramping in Heatwave's tanks has actually nothing to do with the situation he's currently in.

"I still don't know how you got me to agree to this," Chase snaps from where he's got one arm deep in the air vent just under the roof of the firehouse, the other clutching the brick wall so hard he's probably going to leave indentations in it.

"You're doing great!" Cody calls from the ground. "Can you feel it in there?"

"Not yet," Chase grumbles.

"I'm not doing great," Boulder mumbles. They take a slight sidestep to the left and Heatwave's grip instinctively tightens.

"Ow," Blades whines, wincing, and there's a screech as Chase's grip on the walls tighten. "Loosen up, please! You're going to crush my plating!"

"You're not a fucking tuna can!" Heatwave hisses, but he loosens his grip. Oh my Primus. Why did we agree to this.

Chase on top of Blades on top of Heatwave on top of Boulder. Why couldn't they have just gotten, oh, I don't know, a ladder?? Like the one on Heatwave's back??

Heatwave's tanks cramp again and he winces, causing another chain reaction. "I am going to have to ask you to stop moving," Chase grits out like it hurts.

Just then, the firehouse alarm blares.

Boulder startles and lurches forward, sending all of them off balance. Blades jumps and transforms away, his rotors smacking into the wall and sending him careening down to the ground. Heatwave flails to keep his balance in an attempt that's immediately shut down when Chase lands directly on his head, sending all three of them backwards into the grass and the fence, too.

"Are you guys okay?" Cody shouts, rushing over to the groaning pile of rescue bots. The alarm is still blaring. "Oh, you found it!" He plucks the drone out of Chase's loose servo.

"Alive," Heatwave mutters. He winces in sympathy at Blades' bent rotors in the corner of his vision and the dent smashed in Boulder's side. He can't even see Chase beneath him, but he's alive too.

"What the hell are you doing?!" Kade shouts, coming up beside Cody and waving his helmet at them. "We have to go!"

Heatwave doesn't even bother to stifle his groan.

I should have seen that coming.

The second, is that I'm gonna have a Talk, possibly violently but maybe not, with your caretakers. Your currently conditions may not get better right away, but I promise you that they will. This is abuse little light, and while you may think your Hour is the only thing that can help you... The thing that usually tips me off is some mention of Rex's love of seafood, which I'm pretty sure was something you came up with and not actually canon despite it being canon in my heart.

I think I've only done that a few times, but I actually have a very specific origin for that headcanon!

Mainly, I needed something silly/benign for 'payment' to Rex in exchange for his participation in the nonsense of Fake Affair (To Hide the Real Affair), because doing cash or sex or Political Favors would have been too dark for the fic in question...

and I'd recently watched the first few episodes of Ouran.

So obviously the answer to how to bribe Rex was fancy tuna, and it could even be justified with the Blue Shadow Virus episodes!

had so much fun drawing ranpo so i decided why not doodle margaret for this ask, andd i had too much fun

before i caught up with the manga last year, the guild was actually my favorite organization! poe and margaret were my favorites at the time (and now lucy!) especially in the design aspect because both poe and margaret Scream bougie, which was the exact vibe i wish every guild character emanated from their outfits, even if they come from different backgrounds

i don't have a lot of definitive thoughts on her because realisitcally, we don't know much about her

she does appear arrogant and dramatic yes, we've seen her dedication in salvaging the reputation of her family and how that affects how she treats her co-workers (like when she continuously protected hawthorne during his fight with akutagawa) but other than that? i don't have much i can say

i know the guild characters are stuck in the shelf, but if ever we get to explore them again even just as a side story, i'd love to see how she became a guild member, especially her partnership with hawthorne because clearly they've been partnered enough times that she's willing to take the role of defense for hawthorne to the extent that she was sent to a comatose from an extremely fatal attack

like?? even if you don't see her as much during the fight, the times we did see her, she was defending for his sake, not attacking alongside him or even battling without his cooperation like you'd expect from the arrogant woman, i'd love to learn more about how they've come to this type of battle dynamic as a duo

i find it wild but also kind of great that you and luna are such close friends despite writing fics the other wouldn’t be interested in or having fics with a turn-off for the other in them - and it doesn’t impact your friendship at all. it SHOULDNT impact your friendship, but on tumblr it seems like people who write fics can only be friends with other people who write the exact same type of fic. and i dunno it’s just refreshing to see one or both of you intensely dislike the type of fic the other puts out, but you’re both still so obvious with your affection (friendship? i mean affection in a friendship way) to each other.

sorry i know this is probably rambling and useless but i thought it was really sweet and also a really good example of a healthy online friendship. you two are different people and you don’t have to have the same opinions on the same things without it devolving into messy tumblr drama or fights and i think more people should follow you two’s example

like yeah when me and Luna first met, it was specifically bonding over the same fandom and the same type of fanfiction - it was when I wrote a shitton of kpop rpf (and I do still listen to kpop, but I am not as into the fandom now)

And I am literally so fucking glad that we have stayed friends this long. LITERALLY when I deleted my old blog, the VERY FIRST THING I THOUGHT was 'oh god Luna isn't gonna know what happened to me' - so I remade my blog AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE just to message Luna to let her know I wasn't dead

like if I wasn't so concerned that Luna was gonna think I died, I would have taken like a month break from Tumblr before making a new blog. but I didn't want her to worry

and I definitely agree. you don't have to like 100% of the same things all the time in order to be friends with someone. you can just care about them as a person (and I care about her a whole lot and I want her to be happy and do well in life <3)

like in general, it's not very hard to get alone with someone even if their interests don't match up with yours 100%. I just feel like people have aligned interests way too much with morality, and people need to like - accept people into their circle and into their heart who are different than them. it's so fucking easy to get along with people. you just have to chill out
