Anime only watchers and people who aren't caught up with the Manga, BEWARE... Cuz I'm about to discuss Spy X Family Mission 93... You have been warned...! 👌

[SPOILERS AHEAD FROM THIS POINT ON]

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

IT HAPPENED...! IT FINALLY HAPPENED!! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!! 😵

Honestly, words cannot describe how crazy this chapter was, but we're gonna talk about it anyway...!! 👀 LET'S GO!!! 😆

The chapter begins with everyone checking how well they did on finals, and Anya did a whole lot better than last time...!! 😆

I AM SO PROUD OF HER!!! 👏😄

Anya went from 213th to 168th place!! 🎉 Let's hope that Anya continues to improve in the future...!! 😊👍

Then, we finally got to see how well she did in Classical Language and...:

She got second place...!

But, she will still receive a Stella for it!! 👏😆Then, we find out that she got 24 points in math, which is just below the cut off point... Which means...:

So, not only did Anya get a Stella, she ALSO received A TONITRUS BOLT!!? 😵😂🤣😌

GODDAMNIT ANYA!! 😂 That means the score is still tied, but now it's 5 and 5 until she either becomes an Imperial Scholar or gets expelled...!! 😌

Then, we got probably my new favorite Loid expression...:

This poor man can't catch a break, but at he's quite proud of Anya for doing well on the test...!! 😊

After that, we cut to Authens praising Anya as well, but Sigmund says something that intrigues me...:

"...One day you'll experience the frustration of realizing that hard work is not always rewarded..."

Hmm... What could this mean...? Personally, if Sigmund does have something to do with the experiments that were conducted on Anya, then this could be his way of saying that not many know of his scientific experiments... But, that's just a guess at this point and I could very well just be reading too much into this single sentence... 🤔

Moving on, before Anya goes to bed that night Loid asks her a question...:

I was surprised that Twilight asked this!! 😲 But his question turned out to be for naught because Anya doesn't really remember... 😔 So, Twilight just tells her to forget about what he asked and now I'm wondering if this will lead Twilight finding out the truth about Anya's past and that she's a telepath... 🤔

Well anyway, we cut to Anya and Damian receiving Stellas for doing well on the test, and then it's the middle school students turn... AND GUESS WHO SHOWS UP...?! 👀

DEMETRIUS MOTHER F---ING DESMOND!!!😵

AFTER ALL THIS TIME, HE HAS FINALLY APPEARED...!! 👀

I can't believe that I was ACTUALLY RIGHT that he was gonna look more like his dad...! (Check out this post where I drew what I thought he might look like!! 👍)

But to continue, Demetrius is also as strange as his mother and father... ESPECIALLY BECAUSE OF THIS...!!:

After finally getting to meet him and seeing that Anya can't read his mind, my original theory that he might be working with his father, just got thrown out the window...!! Because now, I think that Demetrius has been experimented on... 😥 I hope that I'm wrong, but I just don't know this point...

AND THINK THAT'S ENOUGH ABOUT THIS CHAPTER FOR TODAY!

Today's chapter was excellent, but now that Demetrius has finally shown up, my mind is going crazy about what this ALL MEANS!😫

Anyway, I think I'll stop for today and possibly regroup with myself to figure out WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE DESMONDS!! (Except for Damain, who is the only normal one there..!!🥲) So until the next Mission or if I try attempt to figure out what is up with the Desmonds; take care, be safe out there and be kind to one another...!! Also, I don't blame her for Sabine giving the map. I'm already seeing people starting to get mad at her for that. Come on guy, she wants to see Ezra. Considering what she has lost already 💔

Omg this took forever to write. 🥲Enjoy! (Warning! God awful grammar ahead)

Promise?

“Who are y-“ The man gets cut off.

“I love you so much!”

The man looks down at the brunet girl hugging and sobbing into his chest. He was just going to a coffee shop…

“I’m sorry but I think you have the wrong person…” He says, trying to pry her off.

“James?” She said, staring up at him with glassy eyes.

“How do you know my name?”

“Because,” she took a deep breath, trying to steady her sobs. “You do know me! I know you, it’s just… it’s complicated!” She hangs her head low, putting her hands on her face and starts crying again.

He stands there dumbfounded, not know what to do to with the crying girl in the middle of the side walk.

“Are you ok? Are you in trouble?” He asked, glancing around at all the snoopy people who can’t mind their own business.

“Yes, no! I don’t know, I need help. You’re the only one who can help me! I’m stuck in a time loop, and I can’t figure out how to get out, and your helping me, and I don’t know what to do, and I’m so t-“ He cuts her off this time.

“Hey, hey. How about we go get some coffee, get some food in you, and you can explain it then.”

He didn’t know why he said it, he just had this gut feeling that he should help her.

She looks up at him, and has this bright smile on her face. “There you are.” She says with tears flowing down her cheeks.

He looked down at her, puzzled, but put his hand on her back and led her to the coffee shop.

“Welcome in!” The bartender yelled, too preoccupied with orders to glance up.

“Pick something out, it’s on me.” James said, reaching for his wallet.

“Ok, oh but don’t get the macchiato, they’ll mess it up” she says nonchalantly.

He glances down at her, what does she know?

“Hi, what can I get goin for you today?” The bartender says.

“I’ll have the macchiato,” he glances at her. “And whatever she wants.”

She glances back, but turned back to the bartender. “I’ll have a coffee, black.” She orders.

“Coming right up!” He says after James gets done paying.

“You don’t strike me as a black coffee kinda gal,” James says, sitting down in one of the chairs at a table. He’s horrible at small talk.

“Haven’t gotten a chance to sleep, constantly trying to figure this whole thing out…” she says, tears welling up again.

“What is going on? I’ll help.” Again, he had that gut feeling. She smiles again, he notices her dimples.

Cute, he thought.

“Ok, it’s a lot to explain.” She said, putting her head in her hands.

“I’ve got time.” He said, curiosity keeping him seated.

And so she did explain, and for the whole 30 minutes, his jaw never left the floor.

“So you’re telling me,” he sighed. “That your stuck in a- a time loop, and your close to figuring it out, but you need my help? Why me?”

“Again, you’re the only one who helps me, over and over again.” She says.

“Ok,” James checks his watch, 1:28. “What do you need help with?”

“You have engineering skills, I’m going to need those.” She says, eyeing the coffee finally coming there way.

“Enjoy,” the waiter mumbles.

He takes a sip and nearly chokes it out. Hacking out the awful taste of coffee from his throat.

“That’s awful!” He exclaims. “Wait, didn’t you…”

“Yup, still do, but every time you don’t listen.” She says while rolling her eyes. Taking a sip of her coffee, the gets back to explaining.

“So, as I said before. I accidentally activated this machine, that I’m guessing is what is causing my time loops, and it got destroyed. I need you to do your little nerd thing and fix it so we can shut it off”

“Ok… do you know where it is?” He asked. Sounds like a lot of work…

“Ya, we found that out on loop 16”

“16? What look are we on now?” She’s been at this for 16 days?

“Loop 53.” She says tiredly.

His eyes widened at her response. “But I’m sure that it’s going to work this time!” This time?

“Ok,” he said with a sigh. “Lead the way.”

“So this is the place?” He said, stretching from the hours in his car. It was a 5 hour drive to the middle of nowhere, the only thing he could see for miles was this box of a building.

“Yup,” She seemed unimpressed. Most likely from the dozens of times she been here.

The sun had already set, it was getting late. He wondered when the loop started over again, surely midnight.

“I’m guessing the loop starts over at midnight?”

“Yeah, but we’re doing good on time! I think.” She seemed scared.

What is this gut feeling? I feel like I should console her.

“Hey,” he wrapped his arms around her. “We’re gonna do it this time, I can feel it”

“That’s what you said the last 8 times.” She said hugging him back. “But I still believe you.”

They stood there for awhile, both knew that time was ticking, but neither of them wanted to move.

He felt this pang in his heart, it feels like he knows her, he just has no memory. He doesn’t know her favorite color, her favorite food, heck he doesn’t even know her name. Yet her knows her. He feels the need to help her, to protect her, to get her out of this.

“Let’s get this done,” he finally says. “Let’s fix this so you can go back to normal.” He squeezes her in the hug then lets go, going towards the door.

“The machine is on your left,” she mentions. “It’s really damaged, I don’t know what happened.” She walks in front of it, staring at it as if to intimidate it.

“Let me get some of my tools out of the car and I’ll take a look.” He said while walking towards the door. She sat down, knees to her chest, and smiled up at him. She had this vulnerable look, curled up in a ball, glassy eyes that never seem to leave. He got that pang in his heart again, all he wants to do is fix it. Fix everything, help her out of this. Even if she is a stranger.

He finally turned and made his way to his car. Who was this girl?

He came back inside the building, his tool back in his hands. His heart on his sleeve.

He stopped at the entrance of the disheveled room, she was still there, curled up like a lost kid, but she was crying now.

She hadn’t noticed him, so he took a minute to get a better look at her. She had a dirty shirt on, knotted hair, her pants had rips in them. She looked horrible.

The way she slouched, head rested on her knees, body close to limp. She looked exhausted.

The way she didn’t mind crying in front of him, how she wasn’t in a rush, which she should be, how she didn’t care about her appearance. She looked hopeless, like she was never going to get out.

He fully stepped into the room, finally making his appearance known. She looked up and gave a smile. Fake. He thought.

“I’ll have a look at the machine, see what I can do.” He sat down his bag, and started to fidget with the hunk of metal.

While he did, she got to look at him. She knew he was staring at her, he did that the last few times. And she had gotten a good look at him too, but she still couldn’t help herself.

The way he concentrated on what he was working on, how he scrunched his nose when coming across a problem, or when he would shoot his eyebrows up when he fixed it, displaying his gorgeous smile.

It was hard not to fall in love with him, not when he was the only one to help her. She had spent the first few days trying to get help, after she figured out what was going on.

She was so scared, she didn’t know what to do. The world just kept repeating, everything but her.

Then she met James, he was walking to a coffee shop, again. He actually listened to her, helped her, was kind to her. Everyone else thought she was going crazy, on crack, but not him.

He snapped her out of her thoughts, as she expected. “You know, I never got your name.”

“Charlotte”

“That’s a beautiful name.” He says, trying to fill the silence.

“Thanks.”

The silence continued. She continued to stare at him, thinking more and more. You would think that all the time she’s spent with him, day after day she wouldn’t have anything else to think about, but she somehow thought of something.

Suddenly, a roaring sound echoed through the room. She refocused and saw he had started an engine.

“We need to let this run for awhile, until then I can’t do anything. I won’t know what to fix if I don’t know what’s broken. So now we wait.”

He sat down next to her, leaning against the wall. “How long do you think it will take?” She asks, worry obvious in her voice.

He looked at his watch. 9:47.

“Hopefully not too long” he sighs. “Maybe an hour or two? It’s a big machine to charge. It’s 9:47 right now.”

Had she really been thinking about him for three hours? Last time it was only two…

“So,” he said, leaning his head back. “Tell me about yourself.” And thats what she did, for a long time.

She told him her hobbies, her job, her background, how *cough* single she was. *cough*

And he found himself to become even more fond of her. Not just at how beautiful she was, but how smart and kind she was. He loved just talking to her.

After while, it got cold, bone chilling really. So what was the reasonable thing to do with a stranger? They snuggled up.

James had found a piece of cardboard from the rubble and laid down on it. He opened his arms wide and waited for Charlotte to lay on top. Once she did, he wrapped his jacket around her and relaxed.

But while he was absentmindedly playing with her hair, which felt so good, she was thinking. Overthinking would be the correct term.

What if this didn’t work? What if we ran out of time again? What if it’s non reversible?

She didn’t even know she was crying until James hooked a finger under her chin and lifted her head up to meet his.

“You ok?” He said, brushing the tears of her cheeks. “Ya,” her voice came out wavy. “I’m just worried. What if this doesn’t work?” She lays her head back on his chest, sniffing while trying to get the tears to stop.

“It will, I promise.” Promise. Is it really a promise if the day keeps looping? If he won’t remember any of this? Yet every day, every loop, he promised the same thing.

He didn’t want to get up, but he knew he had to. He looked down at Charlotte, who was asleep on top of him. It looked like the first sleep she had gotten in a while. He checked his watch again, 11:09. It had just finished charging, he could finally work on it.

He managed to slip out from under her and get to work.

It was only 20 minutes later that she woke up, looking at the semi rebuilt machine.

“What time is it?” She asked, sitting up and crawling towards James.

He looked down briefly. “11:32” he was hyper focused on the machine, with his cute little focused face.

“Is there anything I can do?” No, but thank you!

“No, but thank you!” She knew there was nothing, but she still tried every time.

“Actually,” That was different.

“Come here and help hold this wire,” that was very different! What if this was it? The final loop?

She jumped up and sprinted over there. After that, everything was different. While she helped him, she couldn’t help but have a smile on her face. Her heart going faster than it has the past few months.

“Ok,” James said after about 15 minutes of working. “Let’s do it, if it doesn’t work, then we’ll have to try again next time…” his face was pale with stress. It was 11:48. They only had one shot at this.

“Do it.” Charlotte said, stress and hope lacing her voice. James pushed a few buttons, kicked a few things, then finally, pulled a lever.

He stepped back, hands out like it might pounce at him. Silence.

Nothing happened. His shoulders dropped, he ran towards it and started hitting buttons.

“No no no nononono!” He did all the buttons again, kicking again, the lever again. But still, nothing happened.

“NO!” He banged his fists on the metal, not caring about the pain.

“It should have worked! Why didn’t it work!?” He was so angry he barely notice a teary eyed Charlotte beside him.

“Hey hey, it’s gonna be ok! We will get it next time! I’m sure of it! I’m so so sorry.” He put his head on her shoulder, embracing her in a hug.

“It’s not your fault” she managed to say. “It’s ok! It’ll be ok, I hope…” she let the sobs rack through her.

“Hey, please don’t cry. Let’s spend the last few minutes happy, ok?” He said, lifted her chin up. She nodded, catching her breath, and staring up at him.

He cupped her cheek, whipping of tears with his thumb. “Remember what you said earlier today?” He said, trying not to get lost in her eyes.

“I said a lot of things.” She chuckled.

“When you ran up to me?” He said, smiling back at her.

“I love you?” It just slipped out, she didn’t even realize what she was saying. Saying that was really a spur of the moment.

“Ya, that.” He leaned down, dangerously close to her lips.

They just stared at each other.

“Did you mean it?” He whispered.

Yes? No? What was she supposed to say?

“Yeah…” she had forgotten all about the machine, the time loop, the pain. All there was to think about was James, so close, so different.

“Good.” He closed the gap, putting his hand on the back of her head. She kissed back, desperate to get as much out of it before the clock struck midnight. She focused on how he kissed her, it was so gentle, so loving, he kissed her like it was both the first and last time.

It technically was.

ok so final thoughts on shadow and bone, in no particular order:

im glad they put a lot of work into mal and alina's relationship because i dont mind being more invested in them. and i really liked jessie and archie in the roles and they did a great job

i think its pretty funny that archie renaux and ben barnes are jokingly playing up the rivalry irl and as a nikolai girl im excited for him to get in the mix and offer up his hand in marriage

zoya could have been meaner. she just could have been meaner! i would have supported her being meaner. i appreciate her turning on the darkling sooner because i like zoya but i also want her to be a little meaner. she deserves it!

oh speaking of zoya the fact that they made it canon that she and the darkling have had a thing...? big skeevy vibes for me personally considering he has known her since she was like 9. just saying

did zoya and mal actually bang in this version? i feel like they didnt. also i think its lowkey really funny that zoya and alina have the exact same taste in men apparently. also i kinda hope zoya loses the bangs next season...they were ok but not my fave.

it took me a while to warm up to danielle as nina but ultimately i did like her and i think i will like her even more in season 2. same goes for whoever's playing matthias he was p cute and he did a good job. no idea what his accent was supposed to be (it was fine tho i liked it) and i wish they spoke more fjerdan between the two of them but thats fine

oh speaking of languages are we just pretending kerch and ravkan are the same language? because realistically only inej speaks ravkan between her, jesper and kaz right? lmao.

at the halfway point i felt the crows' plot was quite stupid but episode 5 improved things significantly and i am not immune to wanting to see characters i like team up. i will say that alina literally giving inej the sankta alina knife was kinda cheesy but its fine. super funny how mal and alina are literally on the same ship as the crows in the end but theyre like "nah nah its cool we travel separately from now on"

omg speaking of alina when i heard they were going to cast an asian actress and make alina part shu i did not think she was going to experience 60 microaggressions per minute...like ok i guess it makes sense for ravkans to be xenophobic considering like the country's hardships and the wars and the ensuing nationalism but oh my god.

also also, alina being shu is kinda cool because that gives her another thing to connect with tolya and tamar about, yes? i know shadow and bone is less popular than six of crows but tolya and tamar deserve SOME of the hype being afforded to nikolai and wylan

daisy head was soooooo good as genya and its so fucked up that they pronounce her name "jenya" in my heart it will ALWAYS be a hard G. i got kinda mad on her behalf when alina was chewing her out tho...like alina i totally get that ur mad. but you literally do not know what she has been through 🥲

i honestly think the guy playing david is a little too hot to be david i always imagined him dweebier but its what genya deserves and he was excellent in the role so im fine with it.

ben barnes was an excellent casting choice for the darkling. theres gonna be exponentially more darkling fuckers now but thats the price you pay for good casting i guess. i'll be honest he and jessie mei li have good chemistry and all but the makeout scene still weirded me out because he is 39 and shes around my age.

omg SPEAKING of the makeout scene it was extremely funny to me that he's all like "are you sure? [about having s*x presumably]" when theyve been making out for literally FIFTEEN SECONDS and have taken NO clothes off. like what is she supposed to be sure about? you have put the cart SOOOOOO far ahead of the horse my dude! but i guess in tv kiss + "are you sure" is just meant to tell the audience "these two plan on banging" so whatever.

the antler collar was much creepier than in the book but that is fine. i was expecting mal to be the one to be like "alina you spared the stag's life so actually you still own your own power" but shrug. oh and we have very little foreshadowing of mal being an amplifier so far...and there was NO mention of the sea serpent or the other amplifiers which disappointed me a little but only because sea serpent foreshadowing counts as nikolai foreshadowing.

oh im very neutral on the effects for alina's powers...at points i thought they looked kinda lame but in the fold they looked cool

kaz and inej kept having these (for them) very sweet heartfelt conversations and every single time i turned to my sister and was like "this is soooo sweet...but in the book they would NEVER say this." however i understand that tv is a different medium than books and freddy carter did well with what he was given. jesper and inej were PHENOMENAL though and im excited to see all the crows together.

i still have no idea if this show is coherent to those with no prior knowledge but i'd love to know what its like to watch with no prior knowledge. like my sister said she wouldnt have picked up on alina being "sickly" prior to using her powers if i hadnt told her thats a thing in the book. or like genya having purple embroidery on a red kefta to show shes sort of between corporalki and materialki. also if youre watching without having read the books is it obvious that the darkling is evil or?

speaking of keftas, based on the teaser trailer i was worried they would look bad. but they looked very good! mostly the costuming was excellent. nina was the only character whose costumes i didnt like as much and to be fair shes stuck in one outfit until the end of the show so im sure she'll look better next season. oh and jesper could have been in brighter colors imo.

i was a little upset that they didnt call the merchants merchers...and also that theres no mention of the dregs? is kaz just the leader of his own gang in this world?? to be fair establishing the dregs might have taken up too much time but i want answers next season. also it was kind of wild to me that kaz uses the crow club as collateral when like the audience barely knows whats up with the crow club.

here and there they had very fun scene transitions or good soundtrack moments and that was fun. only moment that u can think of that seemed poorly edited was the fight scene with mal in episode 1, which just felt weirdly choppy. i am not a cinnamon topography expert tho.

overall i am happy because the show was very entertaining (all i can ask for) and i think it was maybe even kinda good!
