The sky was grey; a murky tone that cast a shadowy blanket over a small town, a quintessential backdrop to a ceremony that held sadness and loss. It was the depth of angst that settled within hearts, pulling and tearing until a hole was formed and left unfilled. There was one less mother, wife, daughter, friend in the world and it was felt tenfold by every single person that surrounded her wooden casket. The rain had held off but it didn't make the circumstances any more fortunate - the sombre air only further strangulating the grieving weeps of townsfolk, the thick tension gathering within Beacon Hill's cemetery with such magnetic force. Today... was an incredibly sad day. It was hard to watch as your friend stared at his dress shoes, inadvertently accepting the sombre apologies from friends and family that were projected toward him and his father. He was usually a loud kid, full of energy and excitement and mischief - never able to settle down or lose his smile. From the day you first met him, Stiles Stilinski was the epitome of sunshine, but the decline of his mother's health brought out a gloominess in him that hurt your young heart nearly as much as it did his own. His hands were tucked behind his back, but you knew he was fiddling with his fingers - a way to express the anxious energy that was constantly building within him. The past few months had been extremely tough on the young boy, but today was the worst by far, and it was written so painfully across his permanent frown and puffy red eyes. You stood to the side beside your parents as they made small talk with others from around town, their voices drowning out as you kept your focus on Stiles and the immense sympathy you were holding for him. You desired to talk to him, to comfort him, hold his hand and be a shoulder to cry on - something that children your age should never have to worry about feeling, and yet, your chest squeezed with the inclination to do just that.

The ceremony was dismal, but the melancholy somehow was much stronger as you all gathered downstairs of the Stilinski residence - bodies clad in black moving slowly, sadly, as stories were shared and memories reminisced. It didn't feel right to be in this house with the absence of smiles and laughter from the family you grew so close to; the ones who you treated like an extension of your own tree, with as much love and trust that you had for your parents.

You were standing to the side as Scott McCall nudged your shoulder, his frame just slightly taller than yours. It had only taken six months of daily measuring until he finally passed that threshold - but he wasn't gloating about it today. The boy instead offered a smile of complete sorrow, a commiserative gesture, the only thing you two could muster despite the circumstances. He was the type to comfort anyone who needed it due to testing trials of his own and the demons that he still didn't understand clearly. A story of which you weren't aware of yet.

"Has anybody seen my son?" Noah's voice croaked, the hoarseness evident from hours of grieving. The crowd in the living room declined, quickly followed by the guests filtered into the kitchen. He looked worried as sudden urgency grappled at his features, an anxious act that was mirrored so easily when it came to Stiles' turn to express such emotion. Stiles was Noah's reminder of Claudia Stilinski - a physical being with her eyes and freckled complexion - and with that loss, he turned to panic.

Your hand was gentle as it grabbed Scott's wrist, careful not to tug too hard as you ushered him to follow you across the room. Noah Stilinski was a second father to you, and you hated the idea of your family hurting. You stopped abruptly in front of him, Scott nearly bumping into your back as he gathered composure, your eyes wide as you peered up. "We can find him, Mr Stilinski."

"Please, that would... I would really appreciate it, kids." Noah's left hand settled on your shoulder, as his right sat upon Scott's. He knew that if anybody could locate his son, it would be his two best friends.

You turned to Scott, pushing back every inclination to poke fun at his missing front tooth, before you nodded your head toward him, "Okay, Scotty. Where should we start?"

Twenty minutes had already passed by the time you peered down to your watch - red and blue pictures staring back at you, a Spiderman-themed timekeeper courtesy of Stiles for your eighth birthday. Stiles was still missing and you were running out of hiding places.

You huffed, frustrated at your inability to find him, and it prompted Scott to turn around with consoling eyes, "We'll find him, Y/N. Promise." A tight-lipped smile was all you could reply with before Scott hummed, his gaze flicking around the room in thought. You could've sworn you saw a lightbulb go off as an idea struck his young mind, that gap-tooth smile making another appearance, "Okay, how about we split up? I'll go outside and you can check some more upstairs!"

It was a good plan, you thought, despite already ducking your heads into the upstairs bathroom and Stiles' bedroom without any success. You wondered if Scott was trying to distract you, to buy some time as he tried to think of something better - but you complied regardless, not wanting to give up on looking for your friend. Especially after the weighted events of today.

Your little steps made the boards creak as you ascended the staircase, any further moves stopped as you ended up standing aimlessly in the landing. Stiles wouldn't have ventured far, he wasn't that type of kid, choosing to instead make new places out of the ones he already knew - and it reminded you of all the times you couldn't find him during Hide and Seek. Your friend was as creative as he was mischievous and it made such a simple game into an absolute challenge.

It wasn't until you remembered the one place you actually found him, before any of this creativity of his fell into serious play. It was obvious the more you thought about it and suddenly, a smile tugged up between your cheeks at the possibility that you knew where Stiles would be.

The hinges of his bedroom door carried a long squeak as you gently pushed it open, the echo loud as it bounced around the room. It didn't look any different to when you and Scott were here earlier, your watch now indicating that it had been twenty-four minutes since you declared your search party mission to Noah Stilinski. It was dull at first - the sorrowful sound of a cry, a sniffle to interrupt the heartache of a young boy. You hadn't noticed it before but now you found it hard not to. You followed it slowly as if any quick movements would set him off, and it led you to where you wanted to be.

"Stiles?" Your voice was tender and quiet, an alert to let him know that you had finally found him. Your friend sniffled in reply and your smile quickly dropped to a worried frown. You stared at the closet before opening the door - light filtering inside before highlighting the cowered figure of Stiles in the corner.

His knees dragged to his chest as arms locked around them, face buried except for the big glassy brown eyes you knew too well. He was heavily distraught and your heart ached dearly for him. You cooed before walking in beside him and taking a seat, your arms brushing as a form of comfort. Legs were crossed in front of you as your hands settled in your lap, gaze now trained on the boy as he had yet to look away from you.

"We've been looking for you." You spoke, head tilting only slightly to better see his face.

Stiles took a shaky breath as arms dragged over his eyes, an attempt to wipe away the trail of tears that had been nursing him in your absence. His voice was scratchy and fractured, "There were too many people... and they kept saying sorry, a-and it was too much."

"I know." Your arm reached out for him as it sat idly on his shoulder, trying to soothe his sobs. Stiles' head leaned against it swiftly as a form of comfort. "We can stay up here a little longer if ya want?"

He sat up straight; eyes widened as honey-glazed hues stared back at you, doe-like and sparked with hope. He was glad that you didn't try to force him back downstairs. "D'ya mean it?"

"Of course." Arms were held wide toward Stiles, an offering for him to fall into them before you enclosed them tightly around his frame. The embrace was sweet, and soon regarded as necessary as Stiles began to cry into your shoulder. He was tired of it all.

His voice was muffled, but you could still make out his words as the boy pressed further into you. "She's really gone, Y/N. Mom's gone." Your hands moved in circles over his jacket as he continued to cry, something your parents would do when you were upset to make you feel better. And as you did, Stiles' hands grasped the fabric at the back of your dress and pulled you against his chest - the mere thought of letting you go scaring him into thinking he'd lose you too.

Your features were scrunched as your brows furrowed and lips downturned. If made you coo, a soft hum, shushing delicately into the young boy's ear, "She is, Stiles. But I'll help you get through it. I'll always be here for you."

"Promise?"

"Pinky promise."

A I just had one.

Q And did you become familiar with the game and the way it is played and the equipment, and what is necessary and so on?

A Yes, sir.

Q And when was that that you became familiar with it?

A That was about 1960.

And based on your acquaintanceship with the game and your treatment of the patients that you have mentioned and your training and so on Doctor, would you have an opinion as to whether or not it would be dangerous or more dangerous for girls to play little league baseball then it would be for boys to play little league baseball, assuming there ages to be between ten and twelve?

A I think that I would say it would make no difference what sex they are. It makes a difference in how strong they are, what kind of child they are.

It was the middle of the night and I had just woken up. I always had trouble sleeping around the Holidays. My family and I were never close, so Holidays always triggered my depression. I stared up at my ceiling and sighed. I turned and glanced at my alarm clock. The bright red numbers blinked four twentyfour through the darkened room. I sighed and decided to get up. I quietly made my way through the codere and into the kitchen. I searched the cabinets and found the packets of hot chocolate. I busted out a pot and started heating up some milk. As I was pulling out a mug I heard someone padding down the steps. 

“Y/N?” Dennis asked, while rubbing his eye. 

“Hey, sorry, did I wake you?” I asked and he shook his head.

“Nah, I was up for a little bit now, but heard someone in the kitchen.” He said. 

“Oh, well sorry for the noise.” I said and he just shook his head. He took a seat at the counter and gave me a small smile. 

“What’s got you up so early?” He asked and I sighed. 

“Holidays are just hard for me, so I have a hard time sleeping sometimes.” I answered and he frowned. 

“Anything I can do to help?” He asked and I gave him a small smile. 

“Thanks, but I just wanna try and get back to sleep, you want some?” I asked as I grabbed an extra mug. 

“Sure, what are you making?” He asked and I smiled. 

“Hot chocolate.” I said and he chuckled. 

“I used to have some with my son around the time.” He said with a small sigh. 

“It always helps me get back to sleep.” I said, trying not to send Dennis into a depression as well. The milk started boiling and I quickly picked it up so it wouldn’t boil over. I gingerly poured some milk into each of the mugs. Once they were mostly full I put the powder in and stirred. I placed the pan in the sink and made a mental note to clean it later. I handed Dennis his mug and took a seat next to him. 

“Thanks.” He said and I smiled at him. The two of us drank in silence, but it was comfortable. 

“Do you wanna talk about it?” He asked out of no where and I took a deep breath. 

“My family and I were never really close and I wish we were, so every Holiday kind of sends me into a depression.” I shrugged. 

“I understand, sort of.” He said and I glanced at him. 

“I think you have more of a reason to be upset around this time.” I said and he sighed. 

“Don’t invalidate your feelings like that, Y/N.” He said and i sent him a small smile. 

“Isn’t that what I always say to you?” I asked and he chuckled. 

“Yeah, but it’s good advice.” He said and I giggled. 

“True.” I said and he smiled. 

Each of us finished our drinks and placed our mugs into the skin. I made another mental note to clean those along with the pan. I turned to face Dennis and he gave me a small smile. 

“We should get back to sleep, hmm?” He asked and I nodded. The two of us headed up the stairs and Dennis stopped at his door. 

“You think you’ll be able to get to sleep on your own?” He asked and I shrugged. 

“Maybe.” I answered. 

“Do you wanna stay with me?” He asked and I blushed. 

“Are you sure?” I asked and he nodded. 

“Maybe not being alone will help both of us.” He said and I smiled. 

“Okay…” I whispered and followed him inside his room. We got into his bed and he wrapped his arms around me. I rested my head on his chest and smiled to myslef. 

“This alright?” He asked and I nodded. 

“It’s perfect.” I said sleepily. I felt my eyes slowly drift closed and I thought I felt Dennis kiss the top of my head, but I couldn’t be sure in my tired state. 

“Goodnight, Y/N.” He whispered. 

“Night, Dennis…” I whispered back.

WHY YASHAHIME WRITERS HAVE TO DO BETTER

I don’t know where to start because there were so many problems in this anime. SO. MANY.

But let’s start with what was my hope. I wanted to like it. I really wanted to. I love Sesshomaru, love Sesshomaru and Rin, i liked the idea of this enemy from the past who seemed to be close to Tōga, i even liked the idea of the twins. I was open to anything, i was hopeful i gave them time and in the end i was disappointed. Let’s talk about the lack of character development first.

These girls DO NOT TALK.

How was this possible? They do not engage in an upfront confrontation about their parents (or aunt and uncle) once. They find out about Sesshomaru, they learn there’s a demon guy named Kirinmaru who is after them, Towa even saw Rin and asked herself if she was their mother but hey, LET’S NOT TALK ABOUT IT. For at least twenty and more episodes Towa’s biggest problem was Setsuna’s sleeping habit. Setsuna’s main line was “Towa you’re too naive and soft for this era” and Moroha is the little tag along, because she doesn’t want to be alone and want them to stick together because they are family, but guess what, they don’t talk about this either because Moroha needs money for a debt she didn’t even contract in the first place. AND MORE. They meet Kohaku and Kaede, they see them on regular basis and NOT ONCE on of them deemed necessary to simply say to these girls “we can talk about your parents if you want”. Do they even know that Moroha is Inuyasha and Kagome’s daughter? WHO KNOWS. Kaede spoke with Towa about Rin, without saying anything really significant to her and the discussion ended pretty quickly. This was one of the biggest wasted opportunity to create a memorable and significant discussion. Someone could say “Towa already have a dad” okay, let me see a discussion in which she tell “i don’t want to know about my parents because i already have a family and want to go back to them. Sis, what do you think? Moroha how do you feel?” Let them engage in a discussion! This is how we could have known them better. But nope. Let’s not. This was my first problem. Let’s now talk abou the second one. THE PLOT.

Why all these people are doing what they’re doing? I don’t know. They didn’t want us to get the point, probably because they found it a nice and misterious way of laiyng things out, except it ended out in a big mess. Kirinmaru, what does he wants? He wants the girls, for what? I know about the prophecy but it was also implied that he need the girls for something else, something related to the comet and the wheel of time? Who knows. Sesshomaru seems to have a plan in which both Jaken and Sess mom are covering for him, but what exactly is this plan? Setsuna died, was this part of the plan? Was it not? WHO KNOWS, we never hear Sess pov. Most of the character are bidimensional and that is a huge problem if the plot consist in a serie of endless question marks. I don’t want all the answers right away, but they needed to put things in order and lay out a base of solid informations as a start. After twentyfour episodes i don’t know what the point is. And the episodes... most of them are interchangeable. There’s no continuity for most of the season and we even got to see filler episodes. Why? For knowing the girls better? Because i know how i want to know them better, by watching them talk and create constructive discussions about their lives. These girls are fourteen not four. I can only hope for a more well constructed second season. They need to put some order in the ordeal they created and start to make every episode count. It’s like they confused the notion of mistery with the idea of “let’s give fans a bunch of confused half informations and never really talk about any of them. Genius.” Spoiler: it was not.

A Spoonful of Affection - 1

MarYu [Zenji Marui x Yuki Yoshino] - Zenji being blind for his need for a break.

On the sixth night on which Zenji Marui once again missed Polar Star‘s much beloved movie night, Yuki Yoshino had enough.

Uncharacteristically punctual she stood in front of his door at 7 pm, both hands on her hips and green eyes full with the fiery determination to get him out of his cave at last. 

After a few impatient knocks of her‘s, the young man finally opened his door and to simply say that he looked tired would not come close to the image Yuki had in-front of her. He looked like having one foot in the afterlife already. 

“Yoshino?” Zenji questioned weakly. “I’m here to get you to movie night.” Yuki declared sharply. 

Zenji slowly blinked before he began a hoarse attempt of protest while messaging his temples. “But I still have to finish-“ “No.” Yuki stopped him. “You’ve been studying non-stop lately, Marui. You need a break.” 

She leaned a tad bit forwards and continued. “I rented a historic Drama even. Just for you. The others will have to deal with that for today, but...” While so far she had done such a good job of maintaining a stern, unyielding voice, she heard herself getting softer when saying. “Please Marui. You can’t lock yourself in here twentyfour-seven without getting any distraction whatsoever.” 

Zenji looked stunned and like he was wrestling for words. Finally a defeated sigh was pushed out of him. Because how could he say no to a historic drama and those angelic, radiant, green eyes? 

“...Alright, you won me over Yoshino.” To not let her get too smug over it, he quickly added. “But only for tonight!”

Author’s Note: I’m starting this “A Spoonful of Affection”-Series as a little means for practice. It’ll be a series consisting of short, shippy drabbles for various ships in Shokugeki. My current plan is to write one everyday but lol, let’s see how long I can last. 

But yeah, as I said...this is just a bit of me just wanting to practice a little 🤷🏻‍♀️😅 Hopefully, there’ll be some others who can find some enjoyment in this as well.

Nichkhun: First of all, I would like to wish everyone a happy new year. I wish you all good health, happiness, and success in everything you do.

Reporter: Please tell us how you feel about today's event and your work with UNICEF.

Nichkhun: It's the kind of work that makes me feel great because I can help our society. It's something that we should pay attention to. In so many cases, children don't have anything to eat. They lack access to clean drinking water. Access to education simply does not exist in their world. That's why I would like to encourage people to pay more attention to these issues.

Nichkhun: I think The Blue Carpet Show last year raised around 14 million baht. This year's event has received more attention from the public. When I heard that today's event has raised over 32 million baht, I got tears in my eyes. Everyone has come together to make this show happen. I am touched that it has received so much love and support from people. I am proud that I have been a part of this show and UNICEF Thailand.

Reporter: You have mentioned field trips.

Nichkhun: I just talked to them whether we should make a field trip to Africa. I guess I have to get several vaccination injections before the trip. I went to Africa once with another program/organization. The living conditions are rough. But, in fact, the children don't realize that they lack opportunities. They think living another day is good enough. As you can see in the videos today, these children live with constant pain. How are they going to be truly happy? With our help, we can give them life and opportunities and make being alive more meaningful for them.  

Reporter: Are you going on a field trip this year?

Nichkhun: I participated in UNICEF's field visits every year. But, at the moment, I am not sure how far my work schedule will allow me to go. Most of the time, I joined the field visits in Bangkok. The farthest UNICEF trip I took was in Chiang Mai. I went there in the morning and came back in the evening. So I think we will have to talk and plan in advance about where I can go.

Nichkhun: I would like to tell everyone that you can make a donation for UNICEF not only today. You can make a monthly donation. Or you can donate any amount you want; 50, 100, 200, 300 baht. It's all up to you as long as you want to help children. Children are the future of our nation. If they grow up educated and healthy, they will help improve our country. So I would like to encourage everyone to help these children.

Reporter: Can you give us an update on your work this year?

Nichkhun: The series ‘My Bubble Tea’ should be aired at the beginning of this year. The horror movie ‘Cracked’ should be released around midyear. I am not sure yet. And The Brothers project should be fun.  

Nichkhun: I think I will come back to Thailand often this year. It seems like there will be several projects. I am glad I will have a chance to work in Thailand frequently.

Nichkhun: I think my fans like this album and the concerts went well. I have put a lot of effort into making this album and concerts. I am relieved everything went smoothly.
