"A sentir lui dovevano inventare un apparecchio agganciabile al dito che monitorasse la carica virale minuto per minuto... "Finalmente col suo risultato negativo in mano ... Eravamo liberi e lo saremmo stati per sempre, col preservativo da usare solo se l'avessimo volontariamente scelto. Io più di tutti mi sentivo libero come non mi ero mai sentito prima."

@worldaidsday - "Recent research found 63% of the public do not remember seeing or hearing about HIV in the past six months. Only a third said they have sympathy for people living with HIV regardless of how they acquired it. Our survey also found 1 in 5 think people think you can acquire HIV through kissing. Only 16% knew if someone is on effective treatment, they can’t pass HIV on and can expect to live a long and healthy life. World AIDS Day is the perfect time for us to raise much needed awareness about HIV. We have a once in a lifetime opportunity to end the HIV epidemic for good, but we must also continue fighting the stigma still experienced by people living with HIV. Your support can help us realise our vision of a future where HIV is no barrier to health or equality." @nationalaidstrust #NationalAidsTrust @ejaf @hivisnotacrime @theaidsmemorial @aidsunited @aidswalkokc @okaidscarefund @aids_conference @thtorguk #PositivelyMedicated #LiveLifeIrie #CupCake #HIV #AIDS #WorldAidsDay #Advocate #AdvocateLikeAMFer #Awareness #EducateDontHate #UEqualsU #KnowYourStatus #ART #Prep #SilenceEqualsDeath #SilenceIsDeadly #EndStigma #EndAids2030 #RockTheRibbon #SeeRed (at Oklahoma) https://www.instagram.com/p/CloozynO4z3/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

World AIDS Day 2020: the world continues to make great strides in ending the epidemic
BUT HIV is still out there, it knows no race-color-creed-gender-sexual orientation and communities of color and people who use drugs continue to be disproportionately affected. Antiretroviral medications allow people with HIV to live healthy lives. Overwhelming research has indicated that if you have an undetectable viral load and take your meds regularly, undetectable equals untransmittable. Be safe, take your meds, use a condom, use a clean needle every time, take PrEP.

According to a recent study by the Prevention Access Campaign and the pharmaceutical company Merck, 28 perfect of HIV negative people avoid hugging people living with HIV. The study uncovered widespread stigma from young people. We know that this is a direct result of the lack of sex ed that is inclusive and medically accurate. . This is why ECHO exists. While there are young people reinforcing stigma, primarily due to misinformation, there are young people working to educate and support their communities in eliminating HIV stigma. . ECHO is young, powerful and taking over! Join us in taking action today: https://actionnetwork.org/le…/update-hiv-policy-in-our-state

Amazing news in the fight against HIV/AIDS! There were only 835 Australians diagnosed with HIV in 2018, a figure that depicts a 23% decline in cases nationally in the past five years, according to the 2018 HIV Surveillance Report by the University of New South Wales’ Kirby Institute. The decrease is largely attributed to more testing, earlier treatment, and the use of PrEP among HIV-negative men who have sex with men. Read more at this link.

May 19 is National Asian and Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day
In observance of National Asian and Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, we stand in solidarity to support and encourage Asian and Pacific Islander communities to break the silence about HIV.
This year, New York Knows partners will be providing mobile testing and outreach in New York City:
Saturday, May 18 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Broadway and Vietor Avenue in Elmhurst, Queens  Voces Latinas and South Asian Council for Social Services are partnering to provide free Mobile Unit HIV testing and health services
Friday, May 24 7 p.m. to 9 p.m Boxer's Hell's Kitchen, 742 9th Ave., Manhattan  APICHA and GAPIMNY (Gay Asian Pacific Islander Men of New York) are partnering to provide free Mobile Unit HIV testing and STI screenings
About two out of three of Asians in the U.S. have never had an HIV test due to stigma.  Although Asian and Pacific Islanders make up 0.2% of the U.S. population and account for less than 1% of new HIV diagnoses in the U.S.,  HIV diagnosis in that population increased by 51% from 2011 to 2015. Between 2013 and 2017, in NYC, new diagnoses decreased among Black, Latino and White women, but increased among Asian and Pacific Islander women.
This observance day was founded by the Banyan Tree Project, a national initiative that works to stop HIV/AIDS-related stigma in Asian and Pacific Islander communities through education and storytelling.
For more information on HIV in NYC:
Get Tested: Visit a Health Department Sexual Health Clinic, call 311, visit the NYC Health Map, and click “HIV Prevention Services” or text TESTNYC (SABERNYC para Español) to 877877 to find local testing sites. Outside of NYC? Here’s the AIDS.gov testing locator.
Get Treated: If you are living with HIV, you can protect your health and your partners’ health by getting treated. Remember that if you are on treatment and maintain an undetectable viral load for at least six months, you will not transmit HIV through sex. Undetectable = Untransmittable! Text CARE (CUIDESE para Español) to 877877 for help finding HIV care or support services in NYC.
Learn More about PrEP and PEP: Daily PrEP is a safe and effective daily pill that can greatly reduce your risk of HIV infection. PrEP is much more effective at stopping HIV if you take it every day. Emergency PEP can stop HIV infection if started within 72 hours of exposure.
Stay Sure: Find out where you can pick up free NYC Condoms.

today marks another step in my self love journey by starting #PrEP to lower my risk of contracting HIV. Countless people like me - Black and Brown trans and queer artists, lovers, humxns have been lost to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and continue to be disproportionately affected by the crisis. Incredible strides have been made - drugs and studies that have cemented the fact that undetectable=untransmittable, the creation of pre-exposure prophylaxis drugs, and better education for folx starting at an early age. May we never lose another generation of LGBTQ+ lovers and fighters again. 🌈 I’m at a higher risk being trans masculine and queer and loving on the folx I love, and I owe it to myself to do what I can to engage in the safety measures I have the privilege to access. A pill a day ain’t nothin but a thing, and I’m grateful for all of the financial assistance programs that exist for this drug. ⭐️ Being silent (silenced) or shamed about our sexuality, sexual health, and statuses helps no one. I spent too long in the closet hiding, on my knees trying to pray the gay away, and thinking that I was “bad” simply for being. Owning and living in this body, and sharing it in ways that feel good and safe is my favorite way to radically embrace my whole self and the communities I love. I’m a slut for safety 🖤 #truvada #sexualhealth #UequalsU #knowyourstatus #worldaidsday #queer #transgender #nonbinary #selflove https://www.instagram.com/p/Bq-e8ILF3En/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1j5gb1ty8r23j
