god i want. an au where it dosn't work. where it's just arr g'raha who's woken up, and he doesn't have all these memories and all these people keep looking at him like they're mourning someone. the world has changed and time has changed and all the people he knows have changed, but he hasn't changed, he was just sleeping, just sleeping, and the world nearly ended several times and apparently he helped prevent yet another end but he has no memory of this. they want him to join the scions. he does not know these people. (he barely knows the warrior of light, now, but did he ever truly know them in the first place?) his little sister is alive and well. she looks at him like a ghost. she's changed, and she's older than him now. he acts bratty and loud and brash to cover up the fact that he does not know anything it seems, and he is tired but he was sleeping for so long, so how could he be tired?

he doesn't know these people. they seem to know him. he wonders if he'd killed someone, when it was him and not that exarch who woke up. he wonders if it should have been him who was "killed" in that way, if it is him that lives and not that man who had known and become friends with all these figures from legend. he wonders if he'll always be fated to be a historian one step back from everything, because he simply cannot be a hero.

Man, despite my feelings about how the games handle her, I do really love Shiki as a character, you know?

You have this girl, insecure in herself, trying so hard to be something she's not, something she thinks is more appealing than her self. But there's still enough of the true her underneath that slips out no matter how she tries, she just can't let her Self be erased in favour of being what she thinks everyone else wants.

She's too stubborn to be anything other than her. She has the bad habit of not wanting to admit her negative feelings in case she causes trouble for someone else. She has a bad habit of putting the people important to her on pedestals and making herself feel worse in comparison; holding their opinions of her as more important than how she feels about herself.

She blames herself for other people's problems. She's willing to offer a friendly hand to strangers who've just tried to attack her. She's got an eye for detail but if something is out of place she simply must fix it. Her relationships with others are so, so important to her; she wants to be alive again to preserve them. She thinks no one would miss 'her' if she came back Different.

Eventually she realises she would miss herself.

sometimes I get really scared about Alecto the ninth and getting a satisfactory griddlehark resolution that fully acknowledges the romance and complexity of it all but I feel like giving us no griddlehark would just be mean and Tamsyn does not strike me as an author who would do something just to be edgy or dunk on her audience or whatever else people do so I try and maintain the faith. Also her short stories and stuff support the idea that she’s actually a big romantic at heart so fingers crossed

Honestly, this is something we have no control over. Tamsyn Muir is gonna write the ending she wants to write, and whether we find it satisfying or not is going to vary from person to person.

But both books so far with planned ending points have ended on the most romantic emotionally complex notes imaginable. So I think we're in good hands.

Meet Qua'shir ("Catch Wish"), aka Odile but she's an Umbral!

Quite A Few Notes:

She is Old™, much more so than in canon. Pro to being an Umbral is that age just means you can Be Bigger

Due to this and her travels, she's been documented loosely in stories all around the world, although she doesn't pay too much attention to them. She's especially well-known in Ka Bue as she spends most of her downtime there, even getting called the Expression Of Shadows by some

Like all Umbrals, she has two shapeshifting abilities: one to mess with her true form (as shown above, cannot mess with the eye configuration however), and one to transform entirely into other creatures

She does have one special ability outside of those and the ability to use Craft: she can sense shifts in the world, often caused by especially powerful Craft...

Because of this, she's given herself a 'job' over the years to research and document these shifts, what caused them, and what their continued effects are as time moves on

She does go to Vaugarde for similar reasons to canon originally, but the King's interference brings that to a halt FAST.

She gets headaches due to her powers, and while it's worse when the curse starts she does still have to contend with it as more and more people get frozen in time

This means she actually misses what causes the timeloop in Loop 0, due to it not visibly doing much she doesn't notice it because of everything else

Yeah. So she realizes that there are TWO anomalies to look into and not just the one she needs to kick the ass of.
