• Sam •

- Out of all the girls Sam is the most vanilla one. It's not like sex with her is boring, it's anything but. She's just pretty tame when it comes down to it. Emily and Matt had left after Emily blamed Matt for losing an expensive bag of hers and she dragged him along with her to go find it, Sam had decided to take a bath after being in the freezing cold.

Josh had sent Chris and Ashley off together to find a spirit board he had laying around somewhere, while Everyone was gone you and josh had a soft silent conversation. Filling time waiting for the others to get back, that's when your conversation was interrupted.

"Alright, Josh! Let's see if you know how to hook up the hot water in your big ol' fancy lodge!" Sam teased as she made her way from the bathroom to you and Josh.

"oh yeah, it's just down in the basement. Y'gotta fire up the boiler," he said as if she knew how to do that, after a moment he realized that she couldn't possibly know how to do that and jumped up saying he'd help, Sam turns to leave to the basement and Josh turns to you, "wait for Chris and Ash Babe, don't start without me." you smile at him and nod your head as he gives you a twink, turning on his heel and following after Sam to help her.

You sat in silence looking around the lodge as you think about the long night ahead of you, your thoughts interrupted by Ashley making her way towards you and sitting on the couch awkwardly, "so..." she started before she was cut off, you both heard a scream.

What was going on?

You rushed to the basement door and pulled it open, but nobody moved. Then Chris pulled down a dark cloak from his head and said "mhm you just got munked!"

Sam didn't find this funny, She yelled at Chris for his low-blow prank before turning to Josh and accusing him of being in on it.

You slightly huffed, Josh didn't do low-blow pranks. His panks were always more intricate and complex than a simple chase in dress-up.

You all made your way to the living room, Josh teasing about how Sam, "totally pissed herself," and Sam huffing in annoyance.

Sam "had enough spooks for one night" and left to finally take that hot bath, while you, Josh, Chris, and Ash set up to use the spirit board.

You and Ash both took turns asking questions and things took a turn quickly...

"S-i-s-t-e-r --"

"no! No no no we didn't kill them it was just a Prank! We didn't mean-"

"no Josh you said! You said you wanted to use the spirit board!"

"yeah well, m'not sure if you think-- messing! With me is gonna somehow help me deal with my grief but I don't need this right now."

Josh stood from his seat and began to walk away, you followed behind him.

"No, Josh C'mon-"

"no! You guys are full of it!"

And with that, you and Josh made your way down the lodge stairs.

You both stood there holding each other for a moment before Josh said he needed to do something and left you alone.

You wandered back with the two you last spoke to, they seemed to be freaking out about a photo they had found and decided to look for Josh.

"Josh was just with me," you explain

"If you go now we'll catch up to him."

Only you didn't find Josh, you all found ghosts, set up doll houses, and a passed out Sam tied in a chair, and finally you all found a man in a mask.

Chris was the first one to be put under, Ashly panicking tried to stab the killer with scissors she found you gasped as the masked man cursed under his breath, "live and learn!" and with one hit knocked Ashley out cold, and then he slowly turned to you...

You opened your eyes to a gruesome sight, Chris on the verge of tears as he looks back and forth between his long-time crush and best friend.

A distorted voice demanding that Chris make a choice before you put any input Chris pulled the lever,

"No! Chris! I thought we were friends!" Josh calls as Ashley screams and turns away,

"ahh, I see. You have chosen to save Ashley."

You rival Ashley with a Bloodcurdling scream as you watch Joshes body get torn in half, "NO! CHRIS WHY?!" you cry out as the gate opens and Chris rushes to Ashley telling her it's okay and to not look,

"why! Can't I look Chris? tell me he's okay, pleaseeeesss-" she whines out in fear, looking at Joshes hanging body as she lets out a frightened scream and falls into Chris, you cry as you hold onto Joshes cold hand.

"I'm... I'm so sorry..." Chris whimpers you shake your head, "I would've picked Josh if it were me, I would've done the same as you, Chris..."

Just as you all ran out of that shed you were all in you ran into Emily and Matt.

Chris cried out to them about what he had done. What you all had to see.

Matt was the most freaked out and Emily seemed to think it was some prank at first until she saw how scared you all really were.

You all made a plan to split up, Chris and Ashley go back to the lodge and see what they can find and be safe. While Matt and Emily look for the radio in the old tower.

"alright we have a plan, And Y/n?"

I know I said I was starting to hate Jess from until Dawn less with each day, but I really disliked people saying they wanted her to be the sole survivor but you know what I get it..

Now...

She started this mess and now she's the only one that left, like she has absolutely no idea what happened to the group.. her friends <well I feel like she's only really friends with Ashley and she's dating Mike>

In college Jess and Em would share a dorm together. They aren’t dating, Jess and Mike still are, but Em and Jess have mended their friendship after the events of until dawn, and Em also eventually started to warm up to Mike again as well as Ashley, just took her some time. Jess still has her habit of misplacing, losing, and breaking her phone too often, sometimes it just dies and she forgets about, so Mike frequently has to call Emily to get to Jess. You were new to the friend group, a friend Hanna made in her Algebra class after helping you study.

She had invited you to go spend the weekend with her, her sister, her brother, and her sibling's friends. You agreed, you had become close friends with Hanna when her main group didn't have time to hang out with her.

Getting to the lodge, the main group of friends looked slightly confused as to who you were and why you were there. You flushed, you had been an admirer of Joshua for years now, just never had the guts to tell him. He had quite the reputation of being a strictly hook-up and Friends-with-benefits kind of guy.

You really didn't think you had a chance, but as long as you got your nice best friend and a new friend in beth and Josh now knew of your existence, you were happy.

Now you didnt know the friend group, but with how much Hanna talks about them you felt like you knew them. Josh, Chris, Matt, and Beth had warmed up to you rather quickly but Mike, Jess, Emily, and even Sam were still on the fence. Even if it was all for different reasons.

The first day had gone great, everyone joking and laughing; you had gotten very close with Beth and Josh, Hanna was so happy that her best friend and siblings got along so well.

Taking photos and making silly faces with Beth, Hanna telling you all about her plans and how when summer starts up you could play baseball with her and her family! "It's nothing, some people just don't know how to take a Joke." Confused you stare at Jessica, what was she on about? But after hearing more of what others had to say, you caught on to what was happening and what had happened.

Disgusted and disappointed you start yelling at the group, Beth quickly takin your arm grabbing your attention.

"Forget these assholes! You go wake Josh! I'm going after Hanna!" She tells you

"But-" you didnt get to finish as she told you to "go!" Before running off to get Hanna.

The group all turned to you as you rushed inside yelling for Josh, now while the group were friends they all knew just how protective he could be when it came to his little sisters, and you telling him while he is in such a drunken state he would definitely get very angry, and an angry ready to through a drunken punch Josh is a Josh no one liked...

Protests of,

"Oh com'on!"

"It was just a JOKE!"

"It's her fault!"

"I didnt even want a part of this!"

"Com'on we can talk about this when the Twins get back! Josh doesn't need to know!"

"Look, maybe let Josh sober up before telling him!"

But you weren't hearing any of it, you knew Josh was far too wasted to be woken up but a simple nudge and a call of his name.

You rushed up to the bathroom grabbing a bottle of rubbing alcohol before rushing down and placing the bottle down and filling a glass with water.

The group was all watching your movements as well as Josh's sleeping figure knowing they were about to do a lot of explaining and someone was getting punched, some of the group members looked annoyed, others scared, and a few guilty...

Opening the bottle of rubbing alcohol you placed it under Josh's nose, a moment later he sat up with a sneeze and a groan.

"Josh, here. Drink some water hun." You speak softly, knowing his head must be pounding.

He gave you a silly lopsided smile and a whisper of "thank you" before guzzling the whole glass down, Josh took a deep breath rubbing his eyes before letting his hands slide down his face.

Now, much soberer than he was a moment ago but still tipsy and out of it he looks around, making eye contact with everyone's expressions. He looked to you, and then a still passed out Chris.

Letting out a nervous laugh, "why is everyone looking at me like that?" He asked and no one answered, "Josh..." You say as quietly as you can and he turns to you, you place a hand on his shoulder... "It's Hanna..." You say and his goofy expression drops, you hated being the one to make his smile disappear...

"What?" He asks his face becoming worrisome and he starts to quickly sober up. "She ran off into the snowstorm... Beth rushed after her, she told me to tell you what happened."

His puppy eyes look into your switching between them, "what happened... What did she need to tell me? Why did Hanna run out into the storm?" His voice is still quiet, but his breaths are uneven. Like he's preparing himself for what he is about to hear from you.

"It was just meant to be a prank." Emily interrupted and that is what set Josh off, he was ready to hear it from you. Not wanting to scare you he tried to keep calm and think of things rationally, whatever it was could be fixed right? Talked and smoothed over? Talk to each other like a mature group of people?

But that thinking was thrown out the window after hearing Emily's snarky comment with no sympathy, no emotion but annoyance and frustration.

He knew that whatever this 'prank' was, it was NOT 'just a Prank' his sisters grew up with him and he played pranks and jokes all the time, he knew his sisters could take a joke. They wouldn't just store out of the lodge into a SNOWSTORM because someone prank called them, tossed a water balloon at them, filled their bedroom with balloons, or hell even set a bucket of water to splash them; again they grow up with Josh they could take a lot.

So he knew what they did was not a prank, it wasn't nice, and it wasn't funny.

Sam rushed to the front of the group and quickly ran through the events of the night, however halfway through her explanation Josh put the pieces of the puzzle together and cut Sam off by shooting off his chair and taking two long strides before landing a hard blow to Mike's jaw.

Mike fell to the floor and Josh was ready to kill Mike at this point. kicking Mike in the ribs before mounting him landing blow after blow to Mike's face. Emily and Jessica rush to Mike's side as Matt and Sam pull Josh off of Mike, Ashley who was now filling in a slowly sobering up Chris of what was happening and why.

"WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" Josh yells at not only Mike but at the group, "WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?! WHEN THE TWINS GET BACK YOU ARE ALL GOING TO APOLOGIZE AND YOU'RE GETTING THE FUCK OUT OF MY LODGE!" he yelled looking at the three main people of the group who came up with this fucked up prank in the first place.

An hour has passed... And the twins were still nowhere to be found; at this point, Chris was comforting a crying Ashley, Emily and Jessica were patching Mike up who had a split lip, a swollen black eye, and a bruised jaw, Matt and Sam were standing near the door trying to spot the twins through the raging storm guilt painted all over his face, and you were holding a very anxious and emotional Josh.

Josh looked to you before standing up, you follow his lead. "It's been too long, I'm calling the cops." Which promoted many emotions, Sam and Matt agreeing, Ashley crying even harder, and protests from Mike, Jess, and Em.

But Josh wasn't listening to any of them, he just went into the other room calling the police.

The group had gone home, The police were talking with Josh's parents, and you were trying to comfort a distressed and sobbing Josh.

He cried about how it was his fault, he couldn't stand the way his parents looked at him when they had gotten work a rushed to the Lodge.

'Why couldn't you've protected your sister better' that's all he said he could see in their eyes.

'Why were you passed out drunk? Not watching'

He could take the way they looked at him...

He held onto you, only knowing you for such little time, and yet you'd become attached at the hip by the end of that night.

"Please, please don't go..." He begged, as much as he wanted to be, he couldn't stand being alone. Not now. Not after all that happened.

You ended up staying in Josh's house in a guest room, using his shirts as Pj's and rushing to his room when he woke up screaming from a nightmare.

It happens so often, You spend most nights there anyway now. Why wake up and run to his side when you can be there right when he wakes up?

Usually I post something UD around Canadian Elections, which sometimes is around Canadian Thanksgiving. It being October again had me think of it.

I have written down varied notes in places for a possible Josh Time Loop fic. These are some of the ones I had in google docs.

Putting them here in hopes that reading them again might spark something down the line. Or maybe it will inspire someone else to write it.

Personally, I think the hardest people to write a time loop fic for, are Mike, Sam, and Josh. Josh for being a plot setter, Mike for being the most in the loop and active, and Sam for being mostly out of the monster clueline until the end, which is why she needed the obvious hints of the grave and diary to connext it to Hannah. Which could be intresting, except she has the most plot armor. So its hard to find a good place to loop... Although Josh messing up and ODing her has possiblities, it is also very bad for their relationship.

I have written a mike TT, which was short, and seen a good one by someone else. Actually, I mention a UD TT fics in my Emily TT for every chapter she dies in but the first.

I'll post links at the bottom. In the meantime, on to Josh!

Josh on a time loop, and other UD theory stuff

saw a theory, that makes sense to me. The theory was that players couldn't save Josh, not directly because of karma from the prank or anything, but because he killed animals on the mountain. The pigs that he used in the prank. Most instances of Characters messing with nature on the mountain lead to nature retaliating. Jessica accidentally hits and kills a bird in a snowball fight, and almost has to dodge icicles not long after. Matt is loud and angry around a herd of moose, and can get kicked off a cliff. There are some exceptions, such as Chris shooting the squirrel and sam getting attacked, but overall it seems to follow that pattern. Josh killed several pigs to get the ingredients for his prank, and nature retaliated.

The prank can be reworked to avoid killing any pigs, just take out faking his death, And leaving a pigs head for Matt and Emily to find. The bit with the guns could still work. Sam's bath takes somewhere between 2-3 hours, If I have my math right. I'd also probably swap victims, and send Emily and Matt to the cabin (Emily is the likeliest one to call the police), Have Jess and Mike be the main targets of the prank (Jess is now a believer of ghosts, for story), and lock Chris and Ashley in a room escape room style (sure they may get claustrophobia, but thats way less traumatic then cannon). Nothing happened to Matt and Emily (they were faster then Mike and Jess), but thats what part two is for, I guess. Don't know what it would be though.

Matt surviving could make things more wild, as a Matt who didn't encounter wendigo's before meeting Jess, can warn her about the Psycho. Who he heard about, but never saw. So picture Matt and Jess escaping the mines together, and concluding everything happened because of the psycho. They describe Wendigo's to the police, because they never saw the psycho in person, and everyone who did and all other evidence is gone in the blaze.

In seriousness, I would like to write about Jess post game, but I would probably focus on recovering from the Coma, and the associated brain damage. Because real life, being unconscious that long would give her all sorts of brain damage. The longer the coma, the poorer chance of recovery, so after several hours, she was lucky to wake up at all, let alone be coordinated enough to escape, especially when paired with her physical injuries. So, I want to play that more realistic. I might have Matt and Emily survive, too, so she has a support network, and other people to the the story. Particularly interesting if Matt and Emily are at odds after the radio tower, but keeping their friendship with her.

I like Josh too. I saw a theory, that maybe sense to me for why you could not save him. It has nothing to do with his actions twords other people, and instead has to do with his actions twords nature. Nature punishes the protagonists for acting against it. Such as when Jess accidently kills a bird with a snowball, and almost dies to Icicles. Josh, to get the ingredients for his prank, killed several pigs. The only one who isn't directly impacted by that one is Chris, who killed nature, and Sam got hurt for it.

I like to think about theories. And I realise I forgot the biggest example of Matt acting agressively around the hoard of moose, and being kicked off a cliff (if the player failed the QTE's). The one possible death that had nothing to do with monster's. I didn't do any of that on my first playthrough, but on chapter select I tried out some stuff, on the way to my, 'everybody dies 'run. Except Wolfie, who I went out of the way to save.

Now, takeing out any animal death from Josh's prank, mostly means avoiding fakeing his death, and not hideing Emily's bag to have them encounter a pigs head. That we see, anyway. The monsters derailed anything else we might have seen of it. So we can still have ghosts, and fake killer, and shoot yourself, or your girl scenario. Except either the gun is unloaded, or Josh is past the point of careing if the blanks kill someone, so someone gets seriously injured as a result. Josh should know that blanks can kill. Now let's swap targets. Give Emily and Matt the key to the cottage after the fight, beacuse Emily is the one canoncially smart enough to call for help, and should be saved for later. Emily and Matt get to the cabin fine, beacuse they are nither looking for the bag, nor pranking eachother, and are unlikley to be kidnapped as Jess was. I think they would stay away from the door. Lock Ashley and in Chris in a room to either work out their feelings or bond over the development of claustrophobia. Their adventures will be like escape room. Sam, will be out of the picture, as her bath took somewhere between 2-3 hours if I am doing my math right. Focus the prank around Jessica and Mike. We will give Jessica some belif in the supernatural for this to work, as Cannon doesn't let us play her enough to say that she doesn't believe. Other nuances would be changed due to different intended victims, an I'm sure there would be more to the prank, but I can't say I would know what else to add, as I am not much one for pranking.

I think, that Hannah was in there, somewhat, enough to know her old friends, and have feelings on how she killed them, but it wasn't enough to save them long term. The three people who she felt strongest about, were the ones who lasted the longest. I am unsure what it meant about her feelings on Josh when she crushed his head, as she seems to collect heads (like Beth's) , as a sign that she had some care for them. Emily's head is not collected if she isn't killed by Mike, which may indicate she didn't intend to save it. I don't know if Mike and Sam's stomachs being hit, and a slow death was an indication of care, so much as it was an indication Hannah lost the battle against restraint to not kill them.

I agree he probably would have lived if he weren't worried about Chris. I do think that Hannah's different hunting style was a factor in his death, as Hannah kills differently from the other monsters, as seen by the strangers poor dead wolf in the Sanitoriom. Hannah goes for a direct kill, rather then the miner monsters. I'm not sure if it is beacuse her body is newer and stronger, of if it is beacuse she has an old monsters soul in her. Maybe it's a mix of both.
