leon is not this goody two shoes,  who can do no wrong.  he can and he has,  and all that he’s really holding on to is pride and martyrology.  the truth is,  he could move on if he only wanted to,  but he will do anything but accept help,  let alone seek it himself.  a bitter man choking on hubris,  especially when he gets older.  no relationship formed with him,  be it platonic or romantic,  will ever be completely healthy.  he doesn’t know how to live with people,  he doesn’t know how to live with himself.  i’m not saying he’s a rotten bastard at heart,  but he isn’t a saint.  blissful in his ignorance and shielding himself with the there’s only so much i can do argument,  there actually is much more he could do  &  he knows that he’s not half as helpless as he tries to make others believe.

Finally posting this AU here;
It’s 1 year anniversary of this AU!!
CW: This au contains general dark themes, brainwashing, non-consensual body modification, violence, machine gore, etc. please read at your own risk!
This is my rw au(Project Triple Affirmation), it takes place in a setting where the Ancients are still alive. One day, Looks to the Moon announces that she has found the Triple Affirmative—the answer to the Great Problem: to eliminate death by uploading all consciousnesses to a virtual reality, for without death, there is no rebirth, thereby breaking the cycle. She sees herself as the savior of everything, granting an ethereal eternity.
To put it into simpler words: Moon with her local group killing everything and uploading their victim’s consciousness to FP’s processor(a virtual reality).
While Moon claims that her plan “Solves” the Great Problem, her real agenda is far more radical: she wants to play god. To create a new world in her vision.
There’s still a lot more lore in this au, I’ll slowly get to them in my later posts.

a star being appeared in your apartment, wdyd?
(aka loop getting reverse isekaied into the modern office au)
also there are some scattered mumblings on loop in this AU under the cut if anyone's interested (spoilers for all of ISAT, including 2hats!)
vvv
TLDR - The Universe keeps fucking with Loop and they are not really happy about it, regardless of timing.
While I haven't decided anything 100% concrete for Loop, the idea of a reverse isekaied Loop in general is interesting to me, so I'll be exploring that a bit here. Especially in terms of timing on when Loop gets taken out of their timeline. At least in terms of immediate outlook within this AU. So, for now, have a couple of those thoughts!
---
The two main points in time I am currently considering are the following:
1. From when they gave up their original wish and made a new one.
In this instance, I feel like their arc would play a bit similar to in game
Seeing this new world as different & peaceful
Since they don’t have to deal with the loops anymore, just watch whatever happens.
Be a lil silly for funsies! The chaos that can ensue with a star being existing within a modern world!
Even though it hurts to see Siffrin’s team hanging around, they really don’t have anywhere to go at the moment (hard to hide a star being in this type of world)
To a slow realization of how unfair this whole situation is. In comparison to all of the horrors they went through, this Siffrin has it so easy.
This Siffrin gets to live an idyllic life, free from the world calamity of being frozen & the literal time loop.
This Siffrin gets to freely hang around their family team, with no foreseeable "end" to being with them in sight.
This Siffrin had their original wish, the wish Loop wanted granted, handed to them on a silver platter.
This Siffrin, nor anyone in this world, would ever be able to come close to understanding what Loop went through; Loop would never truly be seen in this world, not fully anyway.
What does The Universe have against them, to put them into this world and make them witness all of this?
It should have been them, with this carefree type of life, given all they went through.
2. AFTER the fight with Siffrin.
This leans a bit more lighthearted than the last, since Loop would have gone through all the development from the game via convos + the talk at the very end with Siffrin, and has a bit more peace about their whole deal.
Perhaps they would still see the same conclusions as above, since healing from the horrors would not happen all at once, if ever, with additional flavor
Underlying bitterness in why the script is still going.
Why is The Universe asking for them to continue into a new world and role?
Haven’t they had enough, once making them witness another Siffrin’s loops and perfect ending, and now a completely idyllic Siffrin’s life from the get go?
However, there is also a bit of hope in the entire situation. Since if The Universe keeps deciding to fuck with them (as in, sending them to different world lines) there is still, technically, the chance of going backward as well.
To their original timeline and to their family.
Once could have been a one-off, but twice?
Perhaps three world jumps might be the minimum to go back, following standard wishing rituals?
More hope in this one from the get-go, with that thought in mind.
---
Though there are probably other points in time that would be interesting too!
Another one I was considering was RIGHT BEFORE the fight with Siffrin, perhaps even mid-fight. However, I don't think that makes much sense for this particular AU ASAFASFASDAS. Can you imagine if Loop just spawned into this world, doesn't realize this is a completely different Siffrin, and attacks on sight?????
Honestly the idea of a reverse-isekaied Loop into different AU's in general is neat, would love to see other people's takes on it!!  Especially cuz of the various reactions/conclusions Loop could have/make based on the scenario/circumstances would be interesting, if that makes sense. At least I think there is something in that thought? I dunno!
I feel like I am missing some characterization bits in here, but that was the main gist of it for now since I cannot remember LMAO.
Mumblings over, thanks for reading my silly thoughts if you got this far!!!

okay one of the reasons Sam is soooo transmasc to me is that he identifies and associates with being a man while also being a target of misogynistic tropes and also not being seen as a real man constantly.

I wanted to give my own quick interpretation of the scene where Atsushi... imagines? hallucinates? all those people while conflicted over what to do in the most recent chapter, because idk I haven't seen people talk about it that much?
Tumblr media
See, the whole conflict with Atsushi in this arc is that he's replaced the constant demeaning of the orphanage director in his head with encouragement from his mentor, and he can control the tiger, and he supports the people around him... but Kunikida makes a point of saying (before everything went to shit) that while Atsushi's tiger is strong, he himself is still weak.
I don't think this has to do with Atsushi's character per se. I think it more so has to do with his still very simplistic views on people or the world - things are very black and white, good or bad. And when faced with a problem without a simple solution, Atsushi's unfortunate tendency is still to freeze up. This is not surprising - he may be 18, but he's a very... how do I put this... a very young 18. He hasn't had anyone teach him these things or guide him. He very much craves support and encouragement from others. He likely also didn't see much of the world outside the orphanage before he was kicked out either. And let's not forget how absolutely shot his self-esteem is. The fact that Atsushi functions and believes in the best in people as well as he does is testament to how kind-hearted and resilient of a person he is.
But here's the problem: Atsushi's self-confidence hasn't done much developing.
What Atsushi has learned throughout the story is how incredible the Agency as a whole is, and as he grows to learn and care about them and realize that he has been given a place to belong, he grows to support them in turn; pulls his weight in a number of increasingly badass ways (he caught a bullet with his teeth. GODDAMN). But all that confidence goes away the moment he is left alone. Atsushi has confidence in his own strength in a group - and only in a group.
Unfortunately, the Agency, though I believe well-intentioned, kind of enables this mentality in him. We see Ranpo, Kunikida and Kyouka in turn, who echo things they have said and would say to this situation.
"Don't you even know that?" Ranpo would ask this, rhetorically, and then solve it himself. Atsushi would not have time to come up with an answer of his own.
"Failure is unacceptable." Kunikida would say this and then act, no matter what. Atsushi would be left to follow what he does.
"You don't have to do anything." Kyouka would protect him. Atsushi wouldn't have to do anything because she would grab his arm and take over from there.
See what's happening here? These are no longer demeaning words from the headmaster (in fact, I want to reiterate that I believe they are all well-intentioned), but they still insinuate that Atsushi is incapable on his own. And indeed it's interesting that Atsushi sees these "visions" of Dazai guiding him all throughout the hunting dogs, sky casino and decay of angels arcs. I, for one, think this is just Atsushi's imagination and not a real vision (unless we get some evidence to the contrary in the future) but for now, it implies that Atsushi's self-confidence is still so abysmal that he has to imagine someone giving him advice and advising him on what to do - instead of being able to consciously admit these ideas are his own.
And then Fitzgerald shows up - "No one expects anything from you." Looming over him, a symbol of power and status over the panicked, conflicted form of a boy who feels eternally powerless without support.
And then it gets interesting.
Akutagawa shows up in Atsushi's mind, for the first time in a guiding role, not a demeaning one. And there's a definite reason for this - when Atsushi was all alone, when he admitted to himself he had no idea what to do and was terrified to be left to fight with no one else with him - who showed up?
Akutagawa. Akutagawa, who in spite of everything, fought by his side and was reliable. And the thing is, Akutagawa cannot take over, not in their kind of plans, or they just won't work. They have to work together. They have to be equals. And on some level, I think this part shows Atsushi's realization of the rather surprising amount of trust Akutagawa had to have placed in him - and him alone. I find it rather heartbreaking that Atsushi appears to have just now started to realize this after their plan failed due to a lack of trust (mostly on his side I'd say) and Akutagawa died.
So, Atsushi receives guidance from Akutagawa, and of course, from Dazai, the person he is extremely grateful for as a mentor. They don't tell him what to do. But still, Atsushi is guided into looking - "get out of your head" and moving - "the door is right there - do something about it". These "visions" still spur Atsushi into action, but the action itself? It's Atsushi's alone.
Atsushi still needs to justify his actions by imagining others giving him support, but this is definite progress for him restoring a sense of personal... agency (see what I did there?) within himself.
And yes, his eventual course of action is to find Fukuzawa and have him make the final decision on the matter - but really now, he's just been told something that apparently has Teruko (who I am certain is older than much of the cast and likely a former soldier from the war) drained and tired and seemingly conflicted herself - this isn't really the kind of issue you want to be deciding on all by yourself. Also, admitting you don't know what to do but moving forwards anyways to actively ask for advice or help is very much still making a decision and moving forward. Actively asking someone what they think about a complex situation is very different from being passive while others take control around you.
Atsushi made the decision to walk out that door into uncertainty. And I am convinced he's going to have to pick a course of action anyways - as of right now, Fukuzawa is out of commission, as are Dazai, Akutagawa, Ranpo and Kunikida (we don't know where Kyouka is yet).
It's been a long time coming, but this is serious progress for his character.

ik it’s probably a classic case of extrapolating way too much but... the way raph’s character design lines up w his whole arc and role and struggles...
like the fact that he is so so so much bigger than the others. raph is big, raph is strong, raph is steady and sturdy and he can literally pick up his entire family and carry them all at once.
and like, when raph is so big and so strong and such a reliable thing. when raph is the protector, the one calling the shots on missions, the mother hen, the first point of authority. when raph is there, overprotective, when raph (for all that his brothers poke at him not being good under pressure) always always ALWAYS comes through at the end of the day when things are serious, ALWAYS gives it everything he’s got.
his design and his learned role/behaviors in this family are just the perfect storm of why it took up to the season finale to drive home the issue.
so much of the series carries the default energy of “raph will handle it.”
raph will hold up the ceiling above you. raph will throw himself over you and take a hit and get back up and keep fighting. raph has a power that makes him even bigger and draws more attention and makes him able to carry MORE. raph will be the substitute parent. raph will be put into the mentor role through leo’s leadership arc.
and raph is big. he’s built to carry heavy loads. raph is strong. raph is bold and loud and always ready to try to push on. even if he doesn’t know what to do or what he’s doing, he won’t give up and we’ll all pull together and things will turn out okay.
(his room is full of teddy bears. he dipped out on a mission to try to take a picture of a pigeon carrying a slice of pizza. he’s terrified of being alone.
he’s just as much of a kid as his brothers are. he’s just as new and inexperienced with the things happening to them as his brothers are. but for him, for some reason, there’s like this double standard where that becomes a huge glaring flaw.)
idk this got very sloppy and uncoordinated. i’m very in my feelings about raph right now though.

so nervous that when i post this ask that ill get accused of hating graystripe and making him some monster for my own vindication. i dont, i promise, i like him fine i think hes interesting. i’ll actually kinda defend him from takes like “he abandoned his children in riverclan and never cared about them in canon”. i just happen to think he’d be more interesting if he really was that fucked up and that the narrative acknowledged how fucked up he could be at his worst moments

You have no idea what I’m capable of
Her screams rang in her ears as she shot awake, hastily sitting up in her bed as the white moonlight still trickled in through the uncovered windows. 3:24am.
“Fuck,” she groaned, rubbing the pads of her palms over her eyes with enough pressure to form splotchy colors and wavy patterns in her vision.
Her heavy comforter, a welcome home gift from Tommy and Maria, was wrapped around her small frame, her socked feet showing through where the comfort wasn’t bunched up. She balled it up in her fists as she held it close to her chin. “He’s gone.” She inhaled, held the breath, and exhaled, a small exercise Joel taught her. Not one hundred percent effective, but it helped. Sometimes. “He’s gone.”
A few minutes of breathing, memories with Joel, and tossing and turning in bed did nothing to wipe the images out of her head. Frustrated, she wrapped the comforter around her, waddling out of her room and down the hall to Joel’s.
As always, his door was open. It was always more for her than him; an effort to say you are welcome to come in. She took it most nights. But tonight…she felt guilty, almost. She bothered him a lot. He was sick of her by now. He must’ve been.
She brought herself to the wall beside his door and backed up against it, slowly sliding her comforter-wrapped self to the floor with a small “oof” as she hit the hardwood.
“Ellie?” Shit.
She closed her eyes, trying to keep quiet, hoping he’d fall back asleep if she didn’t make any noise.
He called again, his accent very strong. “Kiddo? Everythin’ alright?”
She exhaled as she stood, not getting any closer to his door. Her voice was quiet, shy. “Sorry, didn’t mean to wake you”
His fingers reached out from his bed, gently opening the door open a smidge more. “You’re awake for a reason. What’s goin’ on?”
“Nothing, just…I’ll go back to bed.”
“Hey.” His voice was so soft. Never demanding, always inviting. “C’mere,” he asked, nudging his door open a little more with his fingers.
She smiled slightly, pushing his door open the remainder of the way with her foot, her arms still around herself to keep the comforter held in place.
Without a word, she walked to the other side of the bed, pulling the sheets down far enough to fit her the comforter in his bed. She laid down on her right side, facing Joel, and bent her knees, tucking herself into a mini cocoon beside him.
Joel cleared his throat slightly, his hands resting on his stomach. “You know…I have blankets on this bed already.”
“Nothing wrong with an extra one,” she mumbled, face tucked into the slack of her comforter.
He turned his head towards hers, unable to find her eyes. His voice was quiet and gentle, his Texan drawl still making itself known. “What was it tonight?”
Ellie sighed. “The same.”
She wiggled herself closer to him and rested her head on his bicep, his hands still on his stomach. Her knees followed suite, pushing up against the side of his thigh as she tucked herself away against him.
“Ya okay?”
“Mmhm…just needed…” she trailed off, sighing into his arm.
He wiggled said arm out from under her and brought it around her, pulling her closer to him as her head rested over his heart.
“Go to sleep,” he whispered, lips finding her auburn as she dozed off, Joel holding her close to his side.
