Does your Dark Mirror au have a written timeline of sorts? Or is it rather just an au comprised of a bunch of written ideas that sometimes take form in drawings? I think that would be really cool personally, and probably be helpful!
Also, I'd like to give my input on some things:
You say you don't want to make Fire be the bio-dad to Squilf or Leaf? The clans don't care much about parenthood or kin frankly, since being a queen/mom appears more like a duty in clan life(IMO) so would it make much of a difference either way? Or - and I'm assuming it's this - is it because of Sandstorm and Firestar's relationship? Tiger and Fire are romantically a thing in this au iirc, so Sandstorm would get in the way of that I imagine.
For Crowfeather post journey, what's stopping him from striking it up with Leafpool afterward like in canon? I'm assuming they get together since the Three are a thing, but maybe that is much later (Orrr the Three are from a different lineage?). If all else fails, maybe make him and Feathertail a thing with Stormfur as a third wheel or something idk. Knock out three cats with one monster!
There's more I could ask, but like, I'd be here all day. Also, I'd look weirdly obsessive and come off even more hyper-critical if I went on haha... I'm just INVESTED, is all!
Bit of both, there is a vague timeline of "this group of plot points takes place here." Things get much more vague once we get into Omen of the Stars. And there's scenes I have written in my head that sometimes take the form of drawings.
Well, the thing is if I go through with Fire not being their bio dad, then he'll be their bio uncle, which, while doesn't completely change his and his kits' + Sandstorm's relationship, does add an extra layer to it, especially his relationship with Squilf vs his relationship with Leaf. Him and Sandstorm were not romantically involved regardless.
What's stopping him from striking it up with Leaf? Well, for one thing she's not there, she's having a journey learning about the magic of friendship and challenging implicit biases. So, Leaf has the Three with Sol, which is why that leaves Crow in a weird place compared to the rest of the journey cats. Orrr...maybe he falls for Squilf and ends up rebounding with Nightcloud when she rejects his ass. I can't really see him and Feather or Storm developing a relationship as they'd have do that when all the clans are present.
ASK MORE ASK MORE ASK MORE ASK MORE ASK MORE ASK MORE.
I'm always excited to talk about my aus. You think you can be obsessive? Babe, you haven't met me.

Why Comics!Mai Has a Point
(Note: I do not condone ableism, I and think it sucks that Avatar of all franchises decided to use such tired tropes surrounding mental illness when it has broken several other harmful stereotypes over the course its existence. That being said I am trying to explain comics!Mai’s viewpoint, and she engages in ableism, which sadly makes sense considering the era ATLA takes place in, and her fucked up relationship with Azula and Ozai.)
I don’t like comics!Mai, but a lot of her behavior can easily be explained if we take an overview of her life (from her POV) going up to her last comics appearance.
Stuck in an abusive friendship with a psycho royal just to further your father’s career.
Meet psycho’s royal’s nice and caring older bro and fall in love with him, but he is soon burned and banished due to failing to meet his even more psycho father’s standards.
Psycho royal eventually finds you after you have left home to further father’s political career, and basically forces you to join the hunt for your lover when your real best friend heavily implies she was forced at firepoint to join psycho royal's hunt, and so you have no choice but to join, or you and/or your loved ones will suffer the consequences.
Psycho royal forces you to not trade for your kidnapped brother, and only because the “terrorists” are benevolent prevents your brother from dying, or worse.
Eventually meet up with lover and rekindle relationship.
Lover is both mentally and physically scarred and dealing with his trauma, but you remain supportive of him, even when he acts like a jackass to you.
Lover eventually commits treason and only leaves you a vague note. And when you confront him in prison, all he really says is that he has to redeem his nation. However, you trust him nevertheless and save him and his party from certain death while all but ensuring yours. In fact, the only reason why you got a life sentence instead is because your real best friend attacked the psycho royal when she was going to hit you with lightning, and then the psycho sparred you both because ?????
Once lover disposes of his psycho relatives and takes the throne, you are only released (quickly) because of your uncle, but you still go back to your lover and ask that he essentially never leaves you (in the dark) again.
But lover not only starts to go back to psycho father, but also starts taking his advice, despite said father abusing lover most of his life and enabling your abuser.
Realizing your unconditional support has coddled your lover, you leave him so that he can realize what is truly important, and therefore change his behavior for the better.
However, lover releases psycho royal in a selfish-quest to find mommy, and then has the gall to lose her. This causes you and your best friend to live in constant paranoid, frightful that the psycho royal could pop out of anywhere to punish you both for your “betrayals".
Psycho royal creates a terrorist cell that kidnaps your brother as part of a larger kidnapping scheme to fuck with everyone who "betrayed" her as far as you know, and manipulates your father, who is leading a terrorist cell trying to put your (OG) lover's psycho father back on the throne. And your father almost succeeds by almost killing (OG) lover, despite the fact that your (OG) lover's psycho father would likely kill you and your best friend for the treason you committed against him.
Yet, despite all his fuck ups, you still love your (OG) lover, and so you help him find the kidnapped kids, despite psycho royal getting massively stronger, leading to her almost killing you several times as far as you know, and her taking away the one trump card (OG) lover had over her.
You manage to rescue the kids, but psycho royal and her terrorist cell still roam at large, and the psycho continues to get stronger by day to the point she could feasible kill a serious Avatar in Avatar State with lethal AOE instant lightning, or by using some other technique(s), getting rid of the one person who could truly protect you and everyone you care about.
So yeah comics!Mai is a bad person, and an even bigger hypocrite than Zuko. But thinking about it rationally, she has a lot to be upset with Zuko.
And if comics!Mai was a real character, and not just a drama device, even after breaking up with Kei Lo, she should have had an argument with Zuko over his fuck ups and relapses, and demand that he do better. Especially when lives are on the line, and still are.

MARCH MADNESS!
Hello sports fans! I've wanted to do this for awhile now so I finally decided to bite the bullet, crunch the numbers and run a March Madness, but with a Corrupted Caps twist!
I have created a March Madness bracket of all my most popular stories here on Tumblr and will pit them against each to see which is the most superior Corrupted Cap!
What does the winner get apart from being superior and lording it over the rest of the stories? A Sequel! That's right whatever story ends up victorious will get a brand new chapter.
So without further ado here are the challengers (and links):
32 One Week
31 Wish Upon a Star
30 Filtered
29 Precious Ruby
28 Eco Warrior
27 BFF
26 The Plan
25 The Dress

5 Rebound
4 Suits You
3 Sorority Merger
2 Playing house
1 The Merge
*worth noting that I have not included any stories that already have sequels or are themselves sequels.
Tumblr media
Voting will be every day of March. Each vote will include a link to the individual stories in that match up so no need to keep returning to this post but I will pin this post during the duration of the competition.
Finally it is likely that I will not be posting any regular stories during March to avoid confusion.
Hope everyone takes part and has fun! What are you hoping to see take the crown?

[Wukong: "Then we would have shared that furnace. And we'd be two idiots chained beneath the mountain together."]
Hmmm…I am not a hundred percent sure, but I think when SWK was in the furnace – he was reduced to ash, more than once, he just regenerated each time it happened. And considering he had to have been like 5 times immortal by then…I really doubt Macaque would have survived the furnace. SWK would just be trapped in there with the ashes of his friend/mate.
Although, now I have the image of SWK collecting the ashes and carrying them around in a jar/vase/something and still treating it like Macaque is alright – “Oh, look, Mihou, think we should try that?” – like something between a comfort item and a security blanket, but his mind not dealing with his LEMs death well to a point he’s just…like that. Still himself, but broken in a way.
Tripitaka thought he would be in over his head with the Monkey King being his protector – but the stone monkey clearly not coping well at all with a dead friend and treating their ashes as if still alive…Man’s praying for wisdom every chance he gets.
Referencing a line from my post about Wukong's stage fright.
Thats an extremely sad concept and a great idea for an angst au. It brings the idea of how Monkey (representing the Mind) handles legitimate grief. Him having a Mary Shelley-esque co-dependance on his past mate's ashes is 100% in character for SWK. He clings to the vessel containing Mac's ashes like Guanyin to her vase, rarely if ever putting it down.
I imagine the vase/vessel/urn resembles like those found in Chinese dig sites, but instead of the Imperial Palace, it is topped with a model of Flower Fruit Mountain.
Tumblr media
Tripitaka/Tang Sanzang can sympathise with the pain of losing someone dear. In Journey to the West, he sets out to retrieve the scriptures after losing his mother + solving his dad's murder (and thats after being separated from them since and before birth). He's going through his own form of unhealthy grief, similar to his attitude in "The Great Tang Man"; he doesn't want to get close to anyone because he fears losing another loved one. But he sees that Monkey is refusing to accept that someone he cared for is gone, and wishes to find wisdom to help them both.
Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing are also sympathetic, but a little unnerved by Wukong's obsession. Bajie was a witness to Wukong's Havoc in Heaven, and knows that the Six Eared Macaque fell to the Furnace when his king did not. He's the one to yell at Wukong when he's annoyed by the monkey's chattering to the ash vessel. Wujing is the one to gently suggest ways to include Macaque's memory in healthier ways, and frequently helps Wukong with tasks when the monkey refuses to put down the vessel. Wujing knows how important those things are.
The one who understands the most though, is Ao Lie. He witnessed how his family went nuts in the aftermath of Ao Bing's death. The ones who grieved loudly and silently. The pain that rebounded onto Nezha and his family. Ao Lie was quite young when the death occurred, and always felt like he was on "the outside" of what was happening. He understands that this is the way Sun Wukong choses to process what has happened to Macaque. Ao Lie feels no place to correct him on it - and just understanding Wukong's pain is enough to help the monkey heal even if it takes years.
Wukong in this AU would be far more hesistant to kill his mortal opponents. He knows that even the strongest warrior may fall to ruin. And that the most hated Kings have someone who will mourn their loss. Sometimes his personality of an unhealthly-grieving widower is enough for some threats to back off. Even a demon knows that it is shameful to harass someone who is mourning.
I imagine the most shocked of their encounters would be the monkeys former allies...
Azure: "Sun Wukong? I thought you threw your lot in with the Heavenly Host. Following the beck and call of the Tang Monk." SWK: "I have. But I figured me and Mihou should pay you guys a visit." Peng: "The Six Eared Macaque? So he has survived the Furnace. No doubt he slunk away into the shadows once the lid rose. Where is that coward hiding now?" SWK: "He isn't hiding. He's been here the whole time." (SWK pats the vessel in his arms) The Brotherhood, all realising: "OH." ( ;O_O) (O_O;) ( `−ㅿ−´) Yellow Tusk: "...I believe the Six Eared Macaque has sacrificed the most for our cause. We should show him and Sun Wukong some hospitality, and listen to their tales of travel." Azure, creeped out: "Agreed."
Others like DBK and PIF would also be in mourning. But I could see them almost finding Wukong's behavior romantic. After all, they don't know what they would do if the other had died in battle.
I feel like instead of a "Macaque Chapter" where Wukong encounters his doppleganger while him and Tripitaka aren't on good terms; it's Wukong becoming frustrated with the others' worrying and comments and wanting to prove that theres a way Macaque still lives. And if it involves harassing the Heavens, the Underworld, or the Buddha himself then he'll try.
Perhaps the crux of his Journey is SWK deciding to let go and release Mac's ashes (likely at Flower Fruit Mountain) and learning healthier ways to honor Mac's memory. Or perhaps requesting that the Buddha reunite them - whether as a revival, in death, or in the next life...
BUT ALSO CONSIDER THIS:
Sun Wukong was only able to legitimately survive the Eight Trigrams Furnace (even with peaches, wines, and pills) because;
He's a manifestation of both Earth and the Mind. All the Furnace did was harden him like a piece of coal becoming a diamond.
Wukong isnt dumb. He knows enough about Taoist Alchemy to know that no matter how hot the crucible gets, it will always be its weakest in the Xun/Sun/Wind Trigram. The theory being that while Air feeds Fire, Wind supresses it - in science terms the increased pressure caused by the pure Wind element suffocated the hottest flames but created a lot of smoke; forever reddening Wukong's eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Above: Two separate translations I got.
Macaque is associated with Wind, especially in LMK and other Jttw-inspo works that merge his character with the Macaque King/Great Sage Informing Wind. And as a Celestial Primate/Mystic Monkey, he holds powers unknown to Heaven and himself.
If in Taoist Alchemy; Wind supresses Fire, then there's a chance that instead of becoming refined like a earthy diamond like Sun Wukong - the Six Eared Macaque would cause a different unholy reaction within the Furnace. Like a pressure cooker ready to burst, the Wind within would only expand/quicken until breeched.
Lao Tzu/Laozi opens the Furnance after 49 days, expecting the two monkey demons to be reduced to a pile of ashes and pills. He's met by a pair of monsters that burst forth from the crucible like Pandora's box.
Heaven weeps.
Even if Macaque's physical body was lost to the Furnace, he could retain enough magic to manipulate his ashes into a smokey ghost-like form. The Buddha would be forced to contain Macaque for those 500 years by sealing him in an air-tight vessel.
Wukong carrying around his mate's ashes and the pilgrims thinking him mad with grief, only for Macaque to reveal at an awkward time that he's still technically "alive". Pluming forth from the vessel and ensaring their foes with his ribbon-like tendrils.
And if you wonder what a Furnaced!Macaque would look like? He's already shown us;

Healing Hands, Hurting Hands
Whump Rating: 3/5
As soon as the Chain learned of Hyrule’s healing powers, he became their safety net. If they are out of potions or fairies, Hyrule can be relied upon to heal the injured. He might not have enough magic to fully heal them, but it’s enough to get by until they pick up more healing supplies.
As the journey continues, the group gets…lax about staying stocked with supplies. Never on purpose; they work hard not to take advantage of Hyrule. Yet whereas before they might stock up on five potions, they only buy three.
Usually, it makes sense to save rupees where they can; a group of nine heroes can’t run on no funds. A few of them get a stipend to fight the monsters from their Zelda’s. There is the odd chest to find along the way, and Wild seems to have a never-ending supply of rupees in his slate. The truth is that Legend and Wild are bankrolling most of the journey. At least they get the odd stop at inns instead of sleeping outside.
So, yes, they could stock up on more potions, but Hyrule never points this out. Deep down, it’s nice to be wanted by the group for a skill only he has. Although that might not be a very heroic outlook.
Wizzrobes slinging curses is never a good day. Wild’s in particular have a nasty habit of surprising them with strange spells. Elemental magic alone isn’t enough—no, they need to suffer hexes, curses, and dark magic.
Hyrule is pulling on his magic to cast Thunder. Electricity crackles in the palm of his hands. It’s a strain on his magic, true, but this fight is growing longer and longer. They need to get out of here before injuries get worse.
The traveler’s magic sense flares. Something is streaking through the air; felt rather than heard. It’s a void against the surroundings; consuming magic and ambient waves. Hyrule turns, electricity still crackling. The curse hits his chest—much closer than expected.
Magic sinks through his skin to latch onto his power. It traces a burning path down his arm and focuses on the lightning he was about to cast. He barely manages to suck in a breath before the curse kicks in, latching onto the lightning and turning it back on himself.
Electricity crackles across his skin. Whereas before his magic provided a barrier for it to bounce harmlessly off of, now it attacks him with abandon. The traveler screams and lets go of the magic feeding the spell. The whiplash snaps on the rebound, but the electricity dies.
“Hyrule! Are you okay?” Legend edges closer while fending off monsters.
“Yeah, but I won’t be using magic for a while.”
“You got your sword?”
He holds it up, already stained in monster blood, then turns back to the fight. He doesn’t need magic to attack, although it helps. The sword will be sending no flame beams to cut down enemies, not while this curse is in effect. Instead, he relies on trusted steel to slice muscle and rend bone.
Someone yelps and Hyrule spins to see who’s hurt. It’s Warriors; a nick above his eye. It’s not serious, at least, although the blood sheeting his face must be annoying. “I’m good,” he calls, and the traveler turns back to his monsters.
By the time the fight is done, Hyrule is sweaty and annoyed. Most of the group sustained minor injuries, but there was enough blood to cause concern. The healer wanders through the group, checking them over.
Warriors is hissing as Sky dabs at the cut.
“Here, let me help heal.” Acting on instinct, Hyrule reaches for his magic. Electricity snaps at him and he flinches. The pain may be imagined, but it’s certainly felt.
“What’s wrong?”
He grimaces, shaking his hand to lessen the tingling. “Got hit by a curse. Turned my magic back against me. I don’t think I’ll be useful for healing until it fades.”
Time crouches next to them with a frown. “How serious are we talking?”
“You know my lightning spell? It’s been turned back on me when I reach for my magic. I…I might be able to reach it as a last resort? It wouldn’t be pretty, though.”
With a nod, their leader stands. “Right, well hopefully it won’t be an issue. Everyone, keep an eye on the amount of potions we have till we can stock up again.”
Hyrule keeps his head down. The curse means he can’t fulfill his purpose in the group; at least, not in a way that matters. Hopefully, it will wear off soon.
The goddesses don’t have mercy. They’ve run out of potions before they find a town or switch eras, and the group of black-blooded monsters they fight aren’t going down easy. The group pulls on every weapon and spell in the arsenal. It’s not enough.
Wind’s scream—high, reedy, and breaking into a wail—has Hyrule miss his slash as he spins. One of the monsters has slammed his sword into the sailor’s chest. Worse, it’s stuck—likely in bone. The monster growls and each tug pulls a broken cry from Wind.
“Let him go!” Warriors hammers on the monster, who refuses to drop the sword. The sailor is pulled along with him and Hyrule’s stomach turns at the sound he makes. No teenager should scream like that. Certainly not Wind, their bright spot of sunshine and ocean breeze.
On instinct, Hyrule reaches for his magic. Lightning meets his senses, crackling in warning and he pulls back. The magic aims to hurt, to kill. He may not have a choice.
The captain finally separates the monster’s head from its body. It’s hand goes lax and slips off the sword. The weapon is still stuck in Wind’s chest and he stumbles slightly, then falls.
“Hyrule! Now!” Warriors yell is rough with worry.
The traveler finishes off the monster he was fighting and runs for the two. The battle still rages around them, although the others try to buy them space.
“We need healing!”
“My magic…”
“I don’t care!” Warriors' eyes burn when they meet Hyrule’s. “I’m sorry, Rulie, but I can’t lose him. Not like this.” There’s a deeper ache there; something that hints at the history between him and Time. Warriors has seen the toll battle takes on those younger than them.
Never mind that Hyrule is only a few years older than Wind; the sailor deserves a future. He can deal with some temporary pain if it means Wind lives.
The traveler nods and crouches next to Wind. Blood soaks his tunic and the fabric is torn open, showing the wound on his chest. With each pump of his heart, blood bubbles and slides down his skin.
“I can’t heal it with the sword stuck in his chest.”
Wind makes a mewling sound, tears streaming. “N-no! Please, it hurts!”
Warriors face twists like the words are causing him physical pain. “What do I need to do?”
“I’ll hold him down, you pull the sword out. Then I’ll heal him.”
“No!” Wind coughs and blood splatters on Hyrule’s cheek. “Please, no!”
They both ignore him. They have to. Hyrule holds the sailor down and meets Warriors eyes, then gives a nod. The captain yanks on the sword. Wind screams. The sword doesn’t come unstuck.
“We need it out!”
“What am I supposed to do?”
“Pull harder!”
“Stop it!” Wind’s voice is wracked with pain. “Stop it! Just let me die, this isn’t worth it!”
Warriors braces his foot against Wind’s side for leverage and firms his grip on the handle. Muscles bulging, he pulls.
The sailor’s scream is too broken to be more than a wheeze of sound. His eyes are too wide, rolling as his mouth opens. Finally, the pain becomes too much and he slumps, unconscious.
With a wet crack, the sword is freed from his chest. Warriors stumbles backward at the lack of resistance.
Hyrule reaches for his magic, ignores the warning crackle, and pulls it under his command. Life, he urges.
His thunder spell, woven into the curse, turns on the healer. Electricity crackles over his skin and he grits his teeth against the scream building. Blood fills his mouth; he bit his tongue. He can’t spit it away, just focuses on forcing through the barrier of the curse for the magic.
Wind will die without his help. Look at how much pain he was in already. Hyrule can deal with pain if it means saving the sailor.
“Hyrule!” Legend’s voice is faint, despite how close he must be. “Fuck, Warriors, what’s wrong?”
“Wind needs healing!”
“At the cost of Hyrule?”
“He’s going to die!”
“Is it worth trading one life for another?”
Hyrule tunes them out. Electricity bites through skin and sinks into the bone. Everything is burning. His fingertips are numb as he forces magic past the curse. Is Wind even being healed? What if this is all for nothing?
Thunder roars through his veins, eating at his supply of magic as it attacks its host. His vision went hazy when he started the spell, but now it’s darkening. No, he can’t pass out. He needs to know Wind is safe.
There’s a high-pitched ringing in his ears. Something wet drips onto his hands—blood, maybe. Where did it come from? Oh, his mouth is open. He must be screaming, even if the sound doesn’t register. Well, at least the blood won’t fill his mouth now.
Darkness continues to eat away at his perception of the world. His hands follow his fingers, numb, and the numbness works its way up his arms. Hyrule might be trembling, but at this point, it’s hard to say.
“That’s enough! Hyrule! Stop the spell! You’re killing yourself!”
No, he needs to save Wind.
“He’s okay! You healed him!”
The words warble and fuzz through the haze, but Hyrule finally cuts off the stream of magic. Relief is instant and the numbness retreats. The last thing he hears before passing out is Wind, calling his name.
It’s okay, though, because the sailor is safe. Hyrule knows his place in the group. He’s their safety net, no matter what.

Flowers That Offer Protection
Snapdragons
Snapdragons were believed to offer protection against witchcraft and evil eye. Dried snapdragons look very similar to skulls and can be used as charms against aging. In ancient Greek it was thought that wearing a snapdragon in your hair or on your neck would offer protection. During medieval times many castles would plant snapdragons around the entrance with the intention of protecting the castle (warding). Hang some snapdragons above a babies crib to repel bad spirits and nightmares
In Russia many women used snapdragons in ointments to reverse aging and appear graceful. In victorian times it was thought that hiding a snapdragon on you would make you appear more alluring.
Venus Flytrap
Venus flytrap are literal carnivores plants. Many witches use them as wards with the intention of eating negative energy. Use them to eat or bind negative energy. Many practitioners like to use Venus flytrap to bind people or negativity. As well as program them to feed off negativity.
I've also known people who use them as a sort of "trip wire" for curses, evil eyes and hexes. Though if you're not good with plants then your plant could just be dying and not have gotten an hex. You can tell the difference by whether it comes back to life when you take care of cleansing and necessary needs of the plant itself.
Angelica
Dried Angelica can be great for breaking hexes and banishing energy. Many practitioners use this flower and it's many parts in spells. It's believed that if it grows around a house or building it will protect it from witchcraft. Angelica root has also been used as amulets for protection or gambling.
In many European countries it was thought that Angelica would protect from sicknesses. The herb itself is used in many medicine even today. That's where it gets the name "angel" from. One of its best uses would be for breaking hexes. When used properly it can be the breaker.
‼️do not ingest if pregnant‼️
Carnation
Carnations are thought to be associated with the Holy Mother Mary and Diana the Goddess of the Hunt. Both were symbols of purity and Innocence. In many countries including eastern asian and Europe carnations are associated with healing and mothers love. In victorian flower language yellow carnations were seen as a symbol of rejection.
In parts of Europe red carnations were used to protect homes as well as repel unwanted visitors. Dried carnations can be used in many types of spells such as warding, protection, healing and love.
Yarrow
The herb is known for its protective uses as well as it's medicinal. It was said that the warrior Achilles learned of the herbs medicinal uses from the great teacher Chiron. In Ireland the herb was thought to disperse plagues and evil spirits. Was also thought to carry stocks of it for safe travels. Hanging yarrow throughout your home or near a babies crib is said to repel negative spirits.
In traditional Chinese folklore yarrow was used as a tool for divination. Due to how long lasting the flower is yarrow is also a symbol of long lasting love. You could use it in satchets or bouquets on wedding days or dates to promote a love that will last years.
Agrimony
Agrimony can be used as protection from negativity this includes witchcraft, evil eye, spirits and people. In wards they can cause a rebound on the sender of a hex. Carrying it around is thought to protect you wherever you go. These beliefs are common in English folklore and voodoo(closed practice) .
In old English the herb is thought to be put under a pillow for sleep. In ancient northern Europe the herb was thought to cure a lot of ailments. Anglo-Saxons had also believed that herb would reveal witches. Scotland had thought the herb could cure those who had been affected by fairies. This would mean unknown illnesses. The herb itself is seen as a kinda cure all.
‼️Please do intense research before ingesting or foraging ‼️

I drew these quite a few months ago when I was playing around with designs so take 'em!! (Also drew the beginnings of a comic at that time which hopefully I will finish up in due time :D!)
His sideburns make him look older but in our canon he's only like a handful or two of Moons older than Cedar and the gang :D

Stupidly funny how Orlox come to French to gauge this "vampire messiah" situation (and most likely sabotage them because he hates colonizers), and ended not only sleeping with some random crusader he found there just because but so easily falling for him too.
He's clearly got a thing for idealistic warriors who are ready to die for what they believe in. Also he's a vampire so from his point of view he's still in the rebound stage.

Have you ever thought of the similarities between Rowan/Lucien and Lyria/Elain?
I don’t prefer any ship over the other, but there are tol many similarities:
- Elain and Lyria being describes as “sweet/gentle/different kind of strength.
- Lucien/Rowan being uncomfortable with courting them. And describing them as different from what they would’ve chosen for themselves.
- And the biggest and most telling one: They are (i think) the only couple to find out they were mates before falling in love (big coincidence)
- Also Azriel and Maeve both using the term “given to another”
I don’t know how a fake mating bond would work without Maeve doing the dirty work, but it does make a lot of sense and there’s no way eluciens don’t see it…
Azriel and Maeve both used the term "given to another".
So you're saying Azriel is a villain like Maeve, trying to mess with another mans mating bond? Yes, that checks out.
Elain and Lyria did both have a different sort of strength. And we could kind of tell that though Rowan did genuinely seem to love Lyria, she wasn't ever going to be the right female for him.
Because Rowan....this is a little of what is said about Rowan:
"Rowan is first seen as closed off, cold, and uncaring"
"As a warrior, hundreds of years old, Rowan is capable of cruelty and torture to protect what he loves."
That sounds a little like Az right?
So if Lyria was never truly going to be the right female for a somewhat cold, somewhat closed off warrior male who is willing to torture to protect what he loves regardless of a real or fake bond than I think it's safe to say that Elain (featuring some similar personality traits as Lyria) would not be the right one for Az (similar to Rowan).
Differences you failed to note:
Lyria was not engaged to someone else the way Elain was when her "bond" with Rowan snapped. Elain's engagement and the resulting need for a rebound provided a valid reason for Elucien's current state.
Lyria was not recently turned fae the same way Elain was when her "bond" with Rowan snapped.
Lyria died before Aelin ever came onto the page.
That sounds more like Jesminda who Lucien believed was his mate.
Maeve tricked Rowan into thinking he'd lost his mate so he'd then swear fealty to Maeve before Aelin's birth so Maeve could then use him as a bargaining chip against Aelin.
Lucien has not sworn fealty to anyone??
Also Lucien did not "choose" Jesminda for himself because she was his type, it says Jesminda seduced Lucien, therefore she first pursued him.
Tumblr media
Of course she was his choice after that but as it doesn't appear Lucien went after her that means we have no idea what Lucien's type before Jesminda was. And what Lucien wanted in his youth is probably much different than what he wants now.
I can tell you what his type isn't. Nesta, considering the author realized they'd be poorly matched. And we're often being shown that Feyre and Nesta are similar and Lucien tells Feyre that she and Vassa are similar so......
I guess a character least like Nesta, Feyre, and Vassa would be Lucien's choice.
Lucien is also only uncomfortable interacting with Elain because he's known from early on she was completely in love with Graysen and she doesn't appear to be in a place to want him pursuing her (yet). That's going to throw a wrench in anyone's plans 🤷
Nice try but have a great night anyway!!

“Ultraman Leo” (1974) is an Ultraman series that is notable in that it was deeply influenced by one of the biggest forces in pop culture at the time: the rise of the Kung Fu movie. It was, after all, only a year before that Bruce Lee’s “Enter the Dragon” came out. In addition to Bruce, there was another name was associated with action and karate fighting in Japan and elsewhere hugely influential on the show: Sonny Chiba, who had already made two of his best movies, the Executioner and Street Fighter by the time of this series. As a result, it is the first Ultraman series to be a martial arts series, very much like i the style of Kung Fu films of the 70s.
Tumblr media
Ultraman Leo is certainly the first and only Ultraman thus far to bust out nunchaku (a weapon that was mostly unknown prior to Bruce Lee making them famous).
Here’s the plot of every episode. Ultraman Leo finds a monster, and it uses a strange, complex move or special technique that absolutely defeats and floors Ultraman Leo. Ultraman Leo realizes he has to find some martial move to counter this technique and answer it, so he trains intensively with his Kung Fu teacher, over and over and over, persisting until he sweats blood. And, in a moment familiar to anyone who has ever tried skateboarding, and spent two weeks doing one trick over and over and failing for days and days and days....after a bit, it “clicks,” there is a “eureka” moment, and he can pull the move off. In other words, the series is about the training and the learning experience: the ways someone learns, as all good Martial Arts stories are, as opposed to merely the fighting by itself. It’s significant that our hero is only able to defeat a villain not just by mastering a karate move, but by internalizing some value of the martial arts. The real victory is achieved by this moment of self-mastery, and the finale is almost a formality at this point: Ultraman Leo uses the special technique he spent the episode mastering to defeat the monster. Like Spider-Man, Ultraman Leo only wins on the rebound.
Tumblr media
You see, Ultraman Leo is the first Ultraman thus far to not actually be a “true” Ultraman assigned to earth from the Planet of Light.  He’s a young guy (the youngest looking Ultraman thus far, significantly) from the Constellation Leo who is still learning how to fight monsters, and his status as an Ultra is a courtesy and not official. His youth is a part of who he is, it means he’s got a lot to learn. So for that reason, the second major person in the cast is Dan Moroboshi, Ultraseven himself. Robbed of his Ultraseven powers by an injury, he devotes himself to showing this non-ultra-kid the ropes, how to pull off the sleek move and cool technique that wins the day. In other words, Ultraseven is the new kid’s Kung Fu master, stern, emotionally distant, and authoritarian, but kindly and fatherly when he lets the mask crack a little. This is the first time a previous Ultraman was a permanent member of the cast of a later show. And it’s no coincidence it’s Ultraseven, who even in the 70s, had a reputation as being the best of the Ultraman shows, and certainly the one with the most credibility. Who else but Ultraseven, then, to serve the role of Kung Fu Master, ?
Tumblr media
It’s kind of stunning how any major screencap of training from this series looks like it’s from a Chiba-style action series (like his excellent Shadow Warrior), instead of a show about a superhero wrestling rubber dinosaurs. It looks like a martial arts action series because it is one.
Tumblr media
Ultraman had always had some martial arts in its DNA from the beginning. He is, after all, best known for a trademark cross-arm karate stance (one that you probably have done yourself and will probably do right after reading this, now that I’ve put the idea into your head). The first actor to ever portray him in the silver suit, way back in 1967, was a well known Judoka, and for that reason, Ultraman fought differently from every other superhero, with judo over shoulder throws and ground grapples. Nevertheless, Ultraman Leo is unique for being entirely a martial arts series centered on training and self-mastery, and it doesn’t often get credit for this.
Ultraman Leo, like nearly all the Ultraman shows, is on Tubi for streaming.

listen, the canon ships in va/bloodlines are cool and all that. but the fanon ships? the potential in each of them?? unmatched.
sydney x rose - a great "enemies to friends to lovers" story. first half of blood promise is sydney falling in love with rose while on a road trip (and starting to question her alchemist beliefs) and rose uses sydney as a rebound for lissa. many iconic lines from rose, how she couldn't stop worrying over sydney in last sacrifice, and sydney describing rose as beautiful.
rose x lissa - the true endgame of the series. you can't have rose describe lissa as an angel and compare feeding her blood as better than sex and not have them be together at the end. their break-up in shadow kiss and getting back together in blood promise carry so much emotion and angst, you can't help but root for them.
rose x lissa x christian - the secret true endgame and love triangle in the series. lissa gets to have the two people she love the most at her side. everyone is happy in the end and they balance each other off.
eddie x mason - you can't look me in the eye and say eddie didn't feel anything for mason, which is why mason's death hit him so hard.
eddie x adrian - eddie has the same responsible/straight-to-business attitude that adrian admires in sydney, and despite giving adrian a hard time because of his bad habits, eddie has a soft spot for him. plus you can have eddie have the same doubts as he had in bloodlines with jill (thinking adrian deserves someone of royal status instead of a dhampir)
adrian x christian - what's better than one edgy, sarcastic man? two edgy, sarcastic men. yet they have distinct personalities that could balance each other to make it work. bonus point of the irony of one's aunt killing the other's great-aunt but the two nephews still falling in love.
zoe x jill - this is basically a wlw of sydrian where sydney is more hung up on the alchemist rhetoric and adrian is more shy/socially awkward. what more can you ask?
jill x angeline - this is lissa x rose 2.0 except if rose was more unhinged and lived away from society until she was assigned to guard the most important royal in the moroi world. again, what more can you ask?
jill x mia - they can be water-user girlfriends. mia can train jill to use her magic for self-defense. again, what more can you ask?
trey x sydney - trey has the same flirty manner/womanizer fame and lazy but heart-of-gold personality of adrian (except he doesn't have spirit and is in a cult). this can create tension as both are on the "same side" but on different extremes (warriors and alchemists) and how they can each leave the groups that traps them.
trey x eddie - good "friends to enemies to back to friends to lovers" when we learn trey is with the warriors. they barely have scenes together but the scene (and tension) when eddie shoved trey against the wall to confront him in golden lily is enough to make up for it.
marcus x adrian - this is basically a mlm of sydrian where sydney is the leader of an underground alchemist resistance group but still somewhat unfriendly/unwilling to date moroi. what more can you ask?
