The petite girl collided with the ground due to exhaustion. She began looking around, upon seeing no one, she felt a little relieved to see that no one had spotted her being in a mess from earlier.

..Well probably except for the Chief of Justice.

'..Way to go Furina, if he wasn't already suspicious of me, he definitely is now..'

As the girl slowly picked herself up from the ground and continued to wandered mindlessly, wanting to get her mind off things for a bit.

Furina strolled leisurely while admiring the scenery upon her. She usually doesn't have time to be curious and as carefree while playing the role of the archon.

'Where am I anyways? I've.. Never been out of the city before'

As Furina came across a sunny and bright view. Where the sun is beaming while waves crash into one another, accompanied by golden rocks.

Although it is an unfamiliar surrounding, Furina only felt comfort feeling the breeze of the atmosphere as she slowly trotted over to the sea.

'What is this place? I've never been here but it feels really easy to relax..'

As Furina slowly took in the sunlight and windy zephyr and sighed. If only she could adventure and explore the world even more..

Being lost in thought, the petite girl did not notice someone in the distance sneaking up behind her.

'..It's really hard being an ar-'

"BOO!"

"AHHH?!"

Furina out of instinct, quickly lifted her arms into a defensive pose to shield her from whatever is coming after her.

"Ahaha! You should've seen the look on your face."

As Furina slowly opened her eyes, she saw a unfamiliar [h/c] person with [e/c] eyes. Realising they were a fontainian, she immediately cleared her throat.

"What look? I was preparing to attack you, you're lucky I took the flight response or else I would've seriously injured you!"

Furina folded her arms looking really displeased with whoever scared her.

"Ahaha.. Sorry, you just looked a little bit depressed. Anyways, I'm [name], nice to meet you. Now, may I ask why such a beautiful lady was looking quite down?"

"B-beautiful?!"

"Mhm! I've heard my friends say that the hydro archon was really pretty. At this rate I might mistake you as them!"

[Name] looking quite content with their response, giving a close-eyed smile.

"Ahem! A-Anyways, to answer your question. I was simply dreading about my workload. I'm fine, don't worry about it."

"Oh really? Guess it isn't a big issue. I'm glad."

'They're glad? I'm just some stranger though, I'm not sure why they're that relieved..'

"So, how's the beach? Pretty relaxing huh? I usually come here after I run my errands."

"Oh.. So this is called a beach, I've never seen one my whole life until today. It really isn't that bad at all to spend a day off here."

Furina then turned her view back to the waves, wanting to treasure this moment before returning to her dull stage.

Suddenly Furina felt something. Only to turn to see [name] placing a rainbow flower in her hair.

"Eh?! What's up with the sudden flowers?! Forget that, how did you even get them?!"

"I did mention I run errands, and that is when I go flower hunting to find beautiful flowers to add to my garden. I decided to give this rainbow flower to you as a gift. It's fitting for a beauty like you~!"

"W-wha-"

"Also, just want to ask, do you work for the hydro archon? You called me a mortal, surely the hydro archon must've have cute colleauges!"

Only to see the archon with a mortal. He didn't know much about this other person that was with Furina so he decided to interrupt their conversation.

Hi! Maybe strange question but you seem to have a good grasp on the boys’ personalities. I’ve been reading a lot of the yanderification of the TWST boys and started wondering which ones (if any) would be most likely to have what could be labeled “yandere” tendencies. Just seems like a fun train of thought to chase.

Do you have any thoughts on this? (Also sorry for the word salad.)

In my opinion, I think it’s pretty easy to twist most of their personalities to fit a yandere type, but as for who’s yandere characterizations are closest to their canon counterparts, I would say:

Malleus, I think is the obvious one. Although clearly I don’t think he’d be yandere in canon, it makes sense for him to have some clingy tendencies in a relationship, and an obsession with his romantic interest. It’s the whole ‘you’re the only person in the world who matters to me’ type trope, because of the social rejection and isolation he’s faced.

People usually take it two ways here, either a) very possessive and jealous or b) very protective. I tend to lean towards the second interpretation (although I love to explore the first one, the second is more canon to me). More ‘I would burn cities to protect you, move heaven and earth to make you happy’ than ‘I want to keep you locked up here all to myself, you belong to me.’ So yes, a yandere Malleus may kidnap you, but only to keep you ‘safe.’ He’s also not as emotionally immature as I think he’s sometimes characterized as (although I’m probably also guilty of this). He’s not really the type to force someone to love him, imo, because he wants it to be genuine (his insecurity stems from an inability to be accepted so forcing it wouldn’t truly fulfill that desire to be loved and validated).

Rook, I think also makes sense, but it’s hard to say because most of the time a lot of his characterization is just played for jokes. Like the whole ‘he’s a stalker, he knows a lot about everyone, others get unnerved by him, etc.’ It’s meant to be funny, but if we take it seriously then we could probably jump to some interesting conclusions about Rook. Also, combined with that ghost bride line about him ‘never letting his beloved go’ -

He seems the type to get fixated on some object of beauty, and I could see that developing into a yandere-like obsession. Maybe if he finally finds the one thing - or person - who he thinks is the true pinnacle of art and beauty, what he’s been searching for all along. Initial stalking to learn more about his interest, some uncomfortable attempts at closeness because he knows everything about them and they know nothing about him. Divided between showing his beloved off to the world and keeping them all nice and pretty for his own enjoyment - the only one who can truly appreciate their beauty. Also, once he’s felt the experience of love, I doubt he’d ever want to live without it. Maybe that’s the ‘true’ beauty of life to him, even.

Jamil is just so apathetic that if he ever did fall for someone, I can’t see him ever giving them up if he can help it. Also, we’ve seen in canon that Jamil isn’t above doing mildly bad things for self-serving interests (think masquerade with ruggie, manipulating the oblivious students).

He just wants something nice and soft for himself. Is that so much to ask for, after all he’s been through? Jamil is never allowed to have anything, nothing that Kalim doesn’t. It’s no wonder he’d cling to the only sweet thing he can get his hands on, something just for him. Even if you’re frustrated with him, even if you get tired of him, he isn’t so willing to just let you go. He deserves something nice like you, and you’ll be happy with him, even if you might need a ‘charming’ reminder of it sometimes.

Lastly, Jade and Floyd are popular yanderes to write for a reason. They both already have so much inexplicably unhinged energy even compared to the rest of the cast (other than maybe Rook). Jade seems so cold and apathetic, while putting on a mask of care. Floyd doesn’t really care to do so, wearing his many moods on his sleeve. But they’re still two sides of the same coin; they’re used to getting whatever they want, often by questionable means.

They also seem like they would be pretty possessive, even if it comes out in different ways. Jade and Floyd may be good at sharing with each other, but they’ve never been good at sharing with anyone else. Floyd will show you (and whoever thinks it’s okay to encroach on his partner) how upset he is by this particular development. I doubt you’d want to keep it up when he threatens your friends that get a little too close. Jade is different; the same annoyance and possessiveness still burns him, but he has a little more patience than Floyd. He isn’t willing to start any fights. Jade prefers not to get his hands dirty, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have other tactics to scare away anyone who tries to flirt with you.

Alright, so I just finished season 4 of the dragon prince, and I know everyone is wondering why the hell Viren was able to adopt Terry (and Sir Sparklepuff) yet not able to speak to his own son. I was frustrated as well, as I've really been enjoying his characterization this season as seeming apprehensive and somewhat scared of what Claudia has been doing, and I wondered if this would lead to regret for his past actions.

I don't think that Viren will get a full redemption arc, but I do think that he probably didn't speak to Soren because he felt shame and confusion for how he treated him, and it was easier to just ignore his presence than acknowledge what he put his son through. With Claudia so intent on restoring Viren's life, it must serve as some hope that he was doing the right thing, however as he sees Claudia's descent into darkness, he becomes less and less sure of his past actions and feels more guilt that he can't bring himself to face. Seeing Soren is the personification of all that doubt, and he's just not...strong enough to face it yet.

Terry has not had any history with Viren; Terry serves as an exploration as the father Viren could have been to Soren, had he not been obsessed with power. Terry is silly and goofy and even irritating to Viren, and yet even with that, Viren is able to show some form of affection, however small.

I have a feeling Viren's story is going towards a Shadoweaver-type end, where no one really forgives him because his actions are irredeemable, and he's not a good person, but he is capable of love and care for his friends and family. I think come next season, we will get that conversation between him and Soren. I don't think that it will be wrapped up nicely in a bow, but I think Viren's complex feelings toward his son that he's developed will be vocalized and will lead to a turn.

On that note, I'm reminded of Soren's speech about his father being evil last season and his eagerness and pride in being one of the "good guys" this season. I love Soren, and he's grown a lot in this show, and I think he still has room for even more growth. He was able to escape his manipulative father (and please don't confuse my desire for a Viren-Soren talk for a need for Soren to forgive his father), and his perspective of the world changed drastically. But it's clear that he currently sees things in black and white, good and evil. He wants to pull Claudia to "the good side", his father is "evil". And in the time he captured Claudia, he only told her not to do something because it was wrong and evil instead of trying to understand why she would do something he sees as evil.

Anyway, this season was a lot of interesting setups, and I'm very curious to see where the writers take it.

Such a good beginning for Lady & The Scoundrel, Barkk look had an effort to help Chloe unlike goodie apathetic Zoe who just yapping like Empty rhetoric. To be honest, it's kinda unfair if her parents don't tasting karma for everything they caused.

I really wonder the relationship that'll come between Chloe & Amelie. a breaking point that'll happen to this story. Hopefully, you have a guts for Zoe and Chloe's ex-parents because they need to learn how incompetent they are.

I've been waiting for one of you to crawl out of the woodwork. And, to be quite frank, I'll a little offended.

Hopefully, I'm reading that last part wrong, but I doubt I am. That is, assuming you want the parents and Zoe to face punishment. If so, you sweet summer child.

You seem not to fully understand the shit I write. I've fully embraced my trauma and made it work for me, so the stuff I write is dark as all fucking hell as I explore the darker sides of the psyche, cruel circumstances, etc. And you realize that not everyone faces consequences, right?

Now, I know that fiction and fantasy are made to give us what we don't in real life. To give us a catharsis. However! Fuck that. I'd rather expose the cruelty and unfairness of our world. And Chloe's whole situation is just that, cruel and unfair. In this fic, Audrey, Andre, and Zoe won't have any punishment. Why?

One, Zoe is still a child like Chloe. Zoe just needs to see the error of her ways, but that may not happen for some time. For some people, you need to let the dust settle. Audrey and Andre? It's clear that Audrey doesn't care at all. Even if she was confronted with her failures, she'd brush them off. Andre? Man's a fucking whipped ass bitch with a spine of wet cardboard.

This has all been a long rant for me to say "fuck you" and y'all need to dash your hopes of seeing any "due punishment" to Chloe's blood family. It is not going to happen. The focus is on her, working through undoing her upbringing, and becoming a better person on her own merits.

And, yes, I am a bitch. Thank you for noticing. And while I appreciate the nice comments, I do recognize that passive aggressive tone of your message as you push what you hope to see.

“Do it again!” you groaned inwardly. Sometimes your captain could be like a child when he was happy about something. What was worse was that Chekov supported him.

“I should have never told you” you muttered.

“But of course you had to. This is fucking brilliant, (Y/N). It’s magic”

“It’s not” you defended yourself at the same that your fiancé spoke up.

“Magic is not real. (Y/N)’s power might be best described as telekinesis”

“Which is something rather unreal, don’t you think?” Spock raised an eyebrow

“Did humans not use to believe that reading minds was not real either?”

“Yeah, I get it... explore new worlds and civilizations... we’ll find anything we never thought was possible and so on. But still, to move objects without having to touch them. I imagine it’s real nice”

“It’s also tiring” one would think that the bigger or heavier the object the more difficult it was but oddly, that was not the case. It was, in fact, the density that decided how exhausting it was. Much to Spock’s surprise, moving objects with lesser density even were more difficult. Sometimes you wished you had an explanation. After all you had been banned from your home planet for your skills. Since then you had been hiding them from everyone, only using them in secret. However, once you had met Spock, he soon realized that you were not like most people from your species and after having tried to keep to yourself for a few weeks, you told him the truth. Ever since, he tried his best to help you control your powers and how to efficiently use them when you wanted to. For that, he also wanted to understand the science behind it. Occasionally you doubted it was science and too thought it was magic but then again, when he came up with a new explanation you had to admit it did make sense... until the moment you proved it wrong.

“But if you practiced you’d get better?”

“Only a little. I mean there are limits to everything. Yes, you can train to get better but at some point it’s not possible to do more. And the fact that it is tiring never really changes” Spock immediately piped up with the newest hypothesis he had but the captain cut him off.

“What’s the easiest thing to do?” you rolled your eyes

“I thought easiest was to keep it a secret” you had not wanted to tell the crew but then, yesterday using your powers had been the only way to save the ship and the crew, so you had found that was worth it. And luckily, only the bridge crew knew right now since you had been there when you had used the ability to send away an enemy ship that would surely have destroyed you otherwise. They had promised to not let anyone know as long as you told them everything.

“Don’t be like that. You know we’d never cast you out for your abilities. I mean... maybe it’s better your people banished you instead of doing worse. Like taking advantage of you, doing experiments or even kill you” you shrugged

“You’re right” Spock had once told you something similar and had then supported your wish to not let anyone else know, for fear that someone of Starfleet command might want to use your powers to their own benefit.

“And uh...” he leant back “You know, when I requested you show us something, I never wanted to take advantage of you. I just think it’s awesome and want to see more. Because I’m curious. That’s why I’m in Starfleet”

“I thought it was because of a bet you had with Captain Pike” Lieutenant Uhura said “That you could have your own ship in three years”

“Well, I did manage that”

“By breaking basically every rule” when Kirk denied the accusation, the communications officer listed up some things he had done wrong and with a happy sigh you leant back. It seemed like you were off the hook. At least for now. You exchanged a glance with Spock and he placed a hand over yours.

TOTAL DRAMA REVIVAL TIERLIST + THOUGHTS

After binging all of the new season, I've updated my initial tierlist! Priya stays winning, no surprise there. Thoughts about the ENTIRETY of the new cast (with spoilers) under the cut!

Let's just start off by saying that the over the top toilet humor and intro aside, this was a great season. While Pakhitew Island was rancid with blatant obvious character tropes, this season managed to make most of their characters relatable while parodying at it.

But as for Caleb, Scary Girl and Ripper... Those were on the nose too much for my liking. Caleb got the season 1 Justin treatment, Scary Girl is literally Jinx from League of Legends, and Ripper is nothing but a shoehorned character for fart jokes. It sucks because I thought Ripper was going to be great. His personality is pretty solid and reminds me loads of McArthur.

Now that I've got the slog out of the way, time to dissect the more intriguing parts of this show!

Nichelle, Damien and Axel were tremendously robbed this season, and you know it.

Axel's dexterity and agility would have no doubt gotten her far. Unfortunately, her prickly attitude got her booted very early, akin to Eva's elimination back in the original TDI. She's definitely the Shawn of this generation though. And hey, which begs the question — is she his kid? It's been 15 years after all...

Nichelle was nothing like the mean girl label everyone pegged her for. Just a typical rich, famous celebrity that's never been out of her comfort zone. Rude and vicious? No, she had the team spirit and was always ready to pump up her team. I love Dakota, so I am definitely a fan of Nichelle, the two being so alike. In her elimination episode, she had a breakdown where she realized that she wasn't "all that". It was honestly pretty sad to see.

Damien was the person with the most common sense on that show. It's funny how he's just wants the million bucks and never seen the show before. But when he sees what there's up against? He's totally done. FINALLY, A CHARACTER THAT GETS IT. He's a whole vibe. In the end, he decided he wanted to stay after he did some awesome heroics, but his team voted him off like he wanted... Better luck next time.

Speaking of next time, apparently these three do have another shot. They've all been invited back for another season, which means that we can explore these characters far more! Let's hope that the writers do not miss this opportunity.

As for someone that I don't think overstayed their welcome, MK definitely takes the cake. She was honestly a great character with witty comebacks and superior intellect. I think she got just the right amount of screen time. We got to see her in action while making room for other character's developments to shine. Nice.

Wayne and Raj are what happens when you combine Katie and Sadie with Geoff and Brody. I found their bromance pretty sweet actually. I don't think they had much time to grow more distinctively from each other though. And I know how everyone was betting their money on them or Caleb/Bowie as the gay couple, but I'm so so glad that they weren't.

Instead we got a delightfully surprising pair — Bowie and Raj. While I did want to see more build up, with 13 twenty minute episodes, you can't really do much. But no matter, I still thought they were plenty cute! I needed to see them smooch in the finale though. It would've been loads better than...

Chase and Emma.

How this pair irks me to no end. Chase is an incel and Emma is stupid for going back to him. Really hit the nail on the head with the on and off again couples of the world. Seen this way too often.

Speaking of which, I think you all owe RR Emma an apology. Because RR Emma actually had loads more character outside of her boyfriend. We got to see her in action, taking charge, her fiesty attitude, the great dynamic with her sister!

But this Emma? All she did was whine nonstop about how Chase was a horrible boyfriend only to go back to square one. Every second of her on screen was either her wanting to torture him in the best way possible or lusting after him. Girl... After everything Chase's done to you, him granting you immunity in a round does not cut it.

I'll give some points for the Bowie/Emma friendship. Except for the fact that it centered around Chase mostly, UGH. Bowie going "ew straight people" is how I felt about this whole ordeal.

And in case it wasn't obvious enough, Chase deserves to be ejected into sun. He radiates toxic masculinity. He wanted to change Emma's name to "Chase's Girlfriend"? He thought a guy should win the finale? He can't take no for an answer and keeps pursuing his ex? I hope he rots, ew.

Bless Zee's heart for being bros with him. Goodness knows I could not do that. But let's face it, Zee is bros with everyone on this island. He's that stoner friend everyone needs. Just chilling, making some unintentional funny comments, you get the gist. I first pegged him to be the scaredy cat type, but seeing him in the zone instead was hilarious. And he's the amputee! How cool is that?

Now I know I haven't talked about one of the best parts of Total Drama — the villains/antagonists.

Julia was a very fun twist villain. At first, she was just Dawn but if she was a social media brat. I was surprised to see that facade crack and her true colors shine. Instead, she's a two faced teenaged girl, which I see a lot in society. Putting on a show for others only to bash them in private. Watching her let loose was a thrill and I was here for it. Her manipulation, scheming and determination is unmatched.

At least, that's what I would say if Bowie didn't exist.

How Bowie absolutely dominated that competition. He was here to win and he meant it. Seeing him pull the strings was a sight to behold. He convinced the team to vote off Caleb at first glance, outsmarted Julia at her own game, ruined Priya and Millie's friendship, and snagged a pretty cute boyfriend too. If that's not absolute winner things, I don't know what is.

Which brings me to the part I've been waiting for. Last, but certainly not least of all, Priya and Millie.

These two are MY Total Drama inserts, I'm so sure of it. Millie disgusted by her own generation and Priya's obedience to follow her parent's dreams were things I felt in my soul. I know that they weren't popular when the characters were first leaked, but I'm so glad that they beat the early boot allegations.

Millie's character arc is one of the best things of the season. She came here to write a book slandering the people her age and thought of herself as above everyone else's nonsense. But then Priya happened. Priya was nice to her, she was the first real person to ever make Millie feel good about herself. And that was the wake up call Millie needed and the turning point of her life.

Priya also learned something too — self worth. She was too eager to be friends with Millie off the bat and have nothing but good energy all around. Only to realize that maybe she's putting more effort into their friendship than the other person is. And as someone whose been in that position multiple times, it absolutely broke me.

And everything went to hell when Bowie gifted Priya the notepad in which Millie was writing smack about everyone. Of course, Millie had changed her mind and was trying to be a better person, but karma catches up to you. Priya finally let herself be gulfed in anger and Millie truly got hit with the great significance of Priya coming into her life.

In the end, Millie managed to apologize and pour her insecurities out to Priya about everything. It brought both tears to me and Priya and the two of them reconciled. This was the best friendship story I've ever seen written on Total Drama. It's like what Gwen and Courtney could've gone through in All Stars...

Also, Priya wins. How cool is that? I rooted for her at the very start AND SHE WON. I'm loving this so so much. I'm sure there's another alternative ending where it's Bowie but the one I watched was Priya so that's the true happy ending to me :3

Sidenote: Anyone wanna talk about the Priya/Damien ship tease? Honestly I'm glad Priya didn't blush at anything Chase said; I know the fandom thought they were going to be a couple. But the best girl Priya and the best boy Damien had a hint and that's another win for me.

Think about it, a girl who's prepared for Total Drama all her life with someone who's never seen it before? GOLD. They were even paired for the finale! Do you think next season will have them be a couple? Manifesting that so bad with a real Chase/Emma breakup. And more Raj/Bowie while we're at it too, yeah?

Maybe Col just goes off a lonesome traveler round the isles instead being free and doing his own thing but not being completely alone in the world. They get mostly depowered so they can't just snap their fingers and return everything to normal (but is still immortal and invulnerable). They help fix things, they learn more about mortality, and how life works for demonkind. By the time the timeskip happens, Col's gone round the entire isles and still has no intention of going to a permanent home yet. And yeah, he might eventually check on his old home with the other collectors but he's not leaving just yet, there's still a lot to see and explore down here, after all. Compromise? (There is still the issue of how he finds money, a tent and a sleeping bag though)

Hey, what do you think of this?

I really like that idea. We do see him all sheepish, turning everyone back from being dolls one by one. I get the feeling that (most) people were willing to play nice with The Collector, but I doubt forgiveness was universal or completely genuine. That would have taken more time and understanding. The ending of the series, with Luz's voiceover, suggests that The Collector took off not long after everyone was reunited, and we know that the gang spent literal years cleaning up The Isles. Still, maybe The Collector dropped by every now and then with a unique tool or new friend who could help speed up the process? As for how he finds traveling supplies, that's easy. He's still seemingly omnipotent with Titan magic being his only kryptonite. The Collector can just zap himself a cool tent and sleeping bag, and with everything he can do, what does he even need with money?

But I do not want him going back to his people. I really, really hope that never happens. Because we don't know what they are, or how they work. All we know is what they've done, their track record, and it's bad. I'm terribly worried for The Collector and the Boiling Isles if he reconnects with the Archivists. What they could do to him, because it's unlikely he'd be able to make a whole society change their ways, and then their attention would be turned to the BI. No, no no, that's the last thing we want. I don't know where The Archivists are or what they're doing but in this case I would really stand by the mantra of letting sleeping dogs lie.

Headcanon that I don’t believe is fact whatsoever, because I’m still not convinced Chara and Frisk are in Deltarune to begin with. But imagine if Ralsei weren’t based off of Kris’ idea of Asriel or what they wanted to be like at all. 

Imagine  if Chara were the one behind Ralsei’s creation. If, in Undertale we explored Asriel/Flowey’s misconceptions and idealization of Chara, and now in Deltarune we get to explore Chara’s misconceptions and idealization of Asriel. 

Again, I'm not really convinced that Chara is the one who interrupted the survey. But I’ve seen some interesting analysis about the survey, and about how it feels like Ralsei was not initially meant to be a part of the narrative, even if Kris, Susie, and Noelle were all always meant to. So I was briefly wondering if the same person who interrupts the survey is also the same person who created Ralsei. (Mostly going off of gut feelings here, I’ll admit. I think Gaster and a second entity are both trying to ‘alter the narrative.’ Gaster does talk about a ‘new’ future in the Twitter so... are Ralsei and Kris both an attempt by ‘someone’ to change the future?) 

But. Anyways. I dunno. It’s been mentioned previously that Ralsei parallels Flowey in many ways, and seems to reflect the fandom’s perception of Undertale Asriel. He’s certainly the precise opposite of Deltarune Asriel. Deltarune Asriel, whose presence can be strongly felt in Hometown even when he’s absent. Who all of Hometown can’t shut up about, who most of Hometown thinks they share a special connection with. Compare it all to Ralsei, the lonely prince who Noelle and Berdly don’t remark upon at all, who other Darkners will refer to as a ‘Lightner’, who is the biggest proponent of how Darkners should be subservient to the Lightners, who just melts into a puddle of clothes and vanishes when he loses all his HP. 

I do think that Chara was probably a fairly introverted and shy personality. Certainly, Asriel was a lot louder than them during the recorded tapes. But at times it does sort of match up? Asriel was Chara’s best friend, and Ralsei wants to be our best friend. Asriel and the other Dreemurrs showed Chara unconditional love and compassion, and Ralsei initially believes that ‘being nice’ is all you really need to be friends. Asriel followed Chara’s plan to free monsterkind, and Ralsei is very stubborn about Kris being the one to make decisions, Kris being the leader, Kris having the power to make choices, to the point Susie needs to force him to make his own decisions. Asriel was a pacifist and refused to kill the whole village even though he was willing to collect seven souls at first, and Ralsei makes a point about Mercy being the best choice (but will attack if Kris orders him to do so.) 

If he is Chara’s idea of Asriel, then no wonder he has no idea how to be very “Ralsei-like.” He’s the echo of a ghost of an otherworldly reflection. 

It is kinda interesting, though, how one of the most remembered of UT!Asriel’s traits is that Asriel is a crybaby, with even Chara remarking on it, but Ralsei... isn’t much of a crybaby? Like Toriel, he’s not very emotional at all, really. He’s more the type to just move along and not really address his own emotions. Either they can address the problem later, or there’s nothing they can really do about it at all. 

It’s also interesting in that he isn’t completely without similarities to Chara. I feel like a similarity could be drawn in how it’s implied you Chara was reawoken by Frisk, and though beginning as a passive entity, is taught by Frisk’s actions. Either shown that everyone they cared for once has been saved, or taught that power is the only thing that matters. Likewise, Ralsei has been taught by Susie and Kris’ actions that sometimes fighting is necessary. He also seems to have some awareness of both the Light World, stats and game interfaces, and the separation between Kris and the Player. 

Again, I still have lots of doubts about Chara being in Deltarune, but... it’s an interesting headcanon to toy around with? Flowey misses his best friend so much that he thinks they returned when he called their name. Chara misses their best friend so much that they create a warped reflection of him, and watch him slowly become the prince he never got the chance to be, adventuring along with some other human. Slowly becoming someone different. Someone... distinctly not Asriel. At what point are they forced to realize that Ralsei was never, ever Asriel?

Legacy Review part 2 electric boogaloo: 2.2-3.6

So we begin with Woodstock and it’s very “I’m not stuck here with you, YOU are stuck here with ME”. Maybe we need a black comedy novelette depicting Bedingfield in a slow descent into insanity as Elizabeth psychologically toys with him until he’s broken.

Meanwhile it rather comedically cuts to Philip reading Bedingfield’s letters and thinking “what the HELL is going on in this country.”

“He considered it a personal affront that any woman should be fluent in 6 languages”. I disagree with this interpretation of Philip. I’m not saying he was the world’s biggest feminist, but he came from a family where women were administrators and regents, which no doubt required education in languages. He’d have practical experience of women’s capability.

Philip and Elizabeth’s dynamic is summed up in an intriguing way but it would be nice to see it in dialogue. Elizabeth has a big impact on Philip but it would be interesting to see Philip have an impact on Elizabeth. Yes, she’s manipulating him but he can still leave an impact on her. I mean for goodness’ sake if Ned Seymour of all people can leave an impression on/give a lesson to Elizabeth Philip certainly should. No one but Elizabeth laughing at Philip: delicious. Having said that this is a novel about Elizabeth and Robert and it’s already long so not everyone and everything can be the focus. Some things just have to take a backseat or the book will be the length of Lord of the Rings.

Speaking of Elizabeth and Robert, they have good banter. Mary’s dilemma and choice of Elizabeth instead of Mary Stuart because of the risk of civil war was well explored.

“I don’t want you ascending the throne covered in freckles”. I am personally offended by that.

Elizabeth being bitchy to Darnley and the passive aggressive Countess of Lennox was cathartic.

Philip marrying Elisabeth in a hurry because he doesn’t want to look jilted… Doubt. He already has reasons to marry Elisabeth.

Kat telling Elizabeth she should have strangled her in the crib…wow. You insane, Kat?? You can’t say that to a monarch! You’re lucky to survive that! And it’s an awful thing to say to anyone royal or otherwise, jfc.

Philippa Gregory said she thought Amy was murdered because of Cecil and I wouldn’t be surprised if this novel gave her the idea because it is written plausibly. It’s a solid narrative choice: Cecil is responsible but at the same time Elizabeth and Robert unintentionally indirectly drive him to it.

I’m amazed that the scene in Elizabeth 1998 with the boat and the bishop-ambassador was based on a real incident? Quite a few details in the scene are based on fact? (except the Philip Sidney poem lol). Wow.

“A general belief that there was no harm in a stink” oh boy oh boy NO.

Mary Stuart is “cunning and she’s been well trained in France”. Are You Sure About That.

I do find Elizabeth’s plan to use reverse psychology to get Mary to marry Darnley a little far-fetched. It does depend on every person involved acting in a way that’s characteristic and that Elizabeth has predicted. There’s a risk that Darnley going power-mad will mean he gives up his distractions to purse England. There’s also a risk that Mary will quietly get rid of Darnley, and there’s the obvious fact that their marriage still strengthens Mary’s claim to the English throne. Mary might also want England so badly that she calls Elizabeth’s bluff and accepts Dudley as her husband in exchange for that sweet sweet promise of being heir to the throne. Or Mary could marry a foreign ruler as revenge instead. It’s  kind of a convoluted plan and feels like one concocted with hindsight rather than the actual information and variables Elizabeth would have to hand in the moment. I do like the parallel between Rizzio and Amy- both are unintended collateral damage in Elizabeth’s machinations.

Dr Burcot, Kat Ashley… some really harsh and nasty people in this book. And someone get some body positivity for Mary Sidney. It’s obviously traumatic to have your face scarred but from the outside, it doesn’t look all THAT bad. Other people would surely get used to looking at it. You’d think a world before modern dermatology would be used to seeing scars from disease, acne, rashes, etc.

Elizabeth was more Protestant than Legacy acknowledges and from what I know, Cecil was closer to Elizabeth in religious sympathies, while Walsingham and Robert Dudley were on the more radical Puritan end of the scale. Yes, Elizabeth liked religious music, candles, crucifixes, and unmarried clergy BUT she read the Greek New Testament every day and she was red with anger when gifted a book of images she saw as idolatrous. This book does acknowledge the friendship between Walsingham and Dudley- which did exist, strengthened by family connections (Walsingham married Dudley’s favourite cousin, his daughter married Dudley’s nephew).

“He wanted to drag Elizabeth from her exalted pedestal and rape her in full view of the court. He wanted to beat her into abject submission and cover that alabaster body with bruises. He suspected that she had a taste for rough handling but he lacked the basic courage to follow that conviction to its logical conclusion.”

WHAT.

WHAT am I reading.

WOW.

I was not expecting that.

Honestly I’d kind of forgotten how rapey a lot of romantic heroes are (like Rhett in Gone with the Wind) even as late as the 1980s.

Cecil says of St Bartholomew’s Day massacre: “the greatest crime since the crucifixion.” The debate over who should advocate to Elizabeth for Dudley…either that’s from the sources or Susan Kay has been watching Elizabeth R again.

Locking men’s souls in the casket by her bed…I think I smell foreshadowing!

There’s a good bit of characterisation for Cecil seeing Elizabeth as unladylike: “too upright and correct to admire [Elizabeth’s flirtations] wholeheartedly for they smacked of brothel principles and offended his image of her as an incomparable deity” “hawking her body and her crown to the highest bidder as shamelessly as any whore who walked the London streets”. Like this is a world where monarchs marry off their teenage daughters for political alliances. If the daughter dies she’s sometimes replaced with her own younger sister. Cecil doesn’t have a problem with that but when the shoe is on the other foot and a woman is selling herself rather than being sold, THEN it’s a disgrace.

Did Elizabeth really mean to behead Dudley? I doubt it. But Elizabeth in the 1570s crying for Katherine Howard and Katherine Parr was a nice touch, all those suppressed losses coming out.

The pacing in part 2 generally improves, and continues to improve in part 3. There are some good references to psalms, Old Testament stories, the Bible in general. “Christ set us all a good example: never answer your enemies’ questions.”

Elizabeth and Robert as parallel lines: “parallel lines never meet”. Excellent.

“By the same token, was it necessary to wear a green wig?” What a sentence.

“Step softly round my crown” reminds me of “tread softly for you tread on my dreams” but also “around the throne the thunder rolls”.

“a diplomatic knee in the groin”. I like that.

There are still anachronisms in the narration and dialogue. “You have Catholics on the brain” “like a speculator’s bubble” “springboard” “perpetuating the species” “vampire” “tom dick and harry” “assassination is the occupational hazard of any monarch” “opium”. Looking at Kay’s bibliography, there’s a lot of biographies and not much on everyday life and language in Tudor England which is probably the reason for these anachronisms. Overall it continues to be a solid novel.

But nil points for making Dudley so rapey.

“Did you get us matching pyjamas?” + the polycule of your choice

Reggie cooed as he rocked Peter in his arms, smiling down at his son who was babbling and decidedly not going to sleep. But Reggie couldn't find it in him to be mad or frustrated, the little boy was adorable and Reggie loved watching him discover the world.

"Not sleepy buddy?" Reggie asked, grinning when Peter blew a spit bubble at him in answer. "Can't say I blame you, Too much exciting stuff going on to nap."

"Yes but if he doesn't nap now, he'll fall asleep way too early tonight, and neither of his mams are keen on getting up at four when he does," Julie says sardonically.

"So unless you wanna get up before dawn with him, you can either put him to sleep or hand him to me and I will," Carrie stated, holding out her arms. Reggie gave a sheepish smile and handed Peter over, pressing a kiss to his forehead as he did.

"He's just so cute and curious though," Reggie protested. "We're all stuck inside thanks to the stupid pandemic, so all he knows is us, might as well let him explore."

"Hopefully it'll be safe to go out soon," Julie said. "But dad's been cleared to come visit soon, and I was thinking that maybe when he comes he could get a cute family photo. At least that way we can share him with the world in that way."

"I'd like that," Reggie said.

"He's out," Carrie whispered as she shut the door to the nursery. "What would you like?"

"Family photo to send out so everyone can meet Peter," Reggie replied.

"Oh, that would be nice," Carrie said. "You just let me know when. Thank goodness his father has him used to cameras at this point." Reggie grinned and shrugged. So he took a lot of photos of Peter, but really, with a kid that cute, how could you not?

Before too long, it was the day of the photo shoot, and Reggie beamed as he dug out the packages he had ordered just for just this occasion. He passed one to each of his girls, then took Peter to go get ready, emerging moments later in the comfy jammies that he had bought.

"Dearest," Carrie questioned, "did you buy us matching pyjamas?"

"I thought it would be cute for the photo," Reggie said, holding Peter up. "Come on, look at this cutie pie!"

"Well that explains why you wanted the tree up so early," Julie said as she donned the seasonal pyjamas.

"We could put the photo in our cards, everyone will be jealous they don't have adorable matching Christmas jammies," Carrie said, slipping on her own set.

When Ray entered their home he let out a barking laugh as he took them in. "What, no matching jammies for me?'

"Sorry Ray, maybe I'll get you a set for Christmas," Reggie said apologetically.

"I'm okay mijo, but thank you. Besides if I got a pair, then you'd have to get a set for Trevor too and I very much doubt he'd wear them."

"You're right there. Dad has never been into traditional pyjamas. He's all sweats and a shirt or weird robes," Carrie said with a chuckle. "Doubt he'd be caught dead in jammies covered in Christmas puppies."

"Alrighty, let's get this show on the road!" Ray said, pulling out his camera. "You ready for abuelo Petey?"

Peter grinned a wide toothless smile, reaching out his chubby fingers towards Ray. "Oh yes, kiss first." Ray swooped in, pressing sloppy kisses on his face and blowing raspberries to his little tummy. The boy giggled madly so he was smiling when placed back in Carrie's arms.

Ray caught a candid shot of the four of them, the parents gazing down at peter with adoring looks and echoing laughter.

It was a gorgeous shot, and in the end, it was the one they ended up using for their cards.

And the next year, when Peter was a bit older, Reggie got them a new set of matching pyjamas, and Ray decided that the photo was due for an update. It became a tradition after that, and every year, they did a new photo, matching pyjamas and all.

And when Peter was an adult, a family of his own at his side, he insisted that they did the shot again, with his parents beaming in the background, his partner at his side, and their kids grinning that signature Peters smile, all in their matching jammies.

Reggie declared it the best picture yet.

I quite don't remember well why I bumped into your blog)? Idk if it was because Yuriko appeared like a DL character in my dashboard, or because I've seen you interacting with another character, but probably it was because one of those. After all I know Yuriko from a time and I haven't been that much on Tumblr. Perhaps I was searching people to get involved a little in the fandom. But that was at first (at this point I think that everything catches my attention that way, it's part of the scrolling)? No offense, please).

After meetings, I just get pretty impressed in how well constructed is Yuriko as a character, how deeply you have explored her inner world and the way you have found to express her. Sometimes I feel like Yuriko is a real person, with her complexes, her doubts, her triggers, but also her dreams, her desires and aspirations. I'm not sure how many years and effort you have put on this but ma'am it worthed the while! I'm super impressed in how you have built all her past, and how it fits in the way she sees the world and interacts with others.

But truth be told, the thing I really love from her is her relationship with Ruki. The way they go from desire to love and how their relationship is so flawless and is so dark underneath the surface??? I can't do anything but love it. It's quite the thing I was expecting from a romance with him, and Yuriko is a good angel to make the beast finds peace with her lullaby. It's cute, interesting, alluring and at her same time... HOT.

Can I say thank you for bringing her to life? Because I think that one of the most beautiful things about creation is to stand still and keep sharing how passionate we are about our characters and ideas and spread as much love as Yuriko does (and you behind her). So... Keep it up Yuriko! You are amazing! <3

It makes sense that you ran into my blog in that manner. That's how I usually find new blogs to follow, too. I think it's a rather normal way to get to know someone in the fandom.

I thank you for your kind words. 💙 It's very interesting that you see Yuriko this way and very nice too. I made the blog for Yuriko about two years ago, but she had lived in my head longer. She hadn't really found her place before I realized how she would fit into the DL universe. But many of her traits have grown through her interactions with other characters. I mostly get to know my characters by writing them. So, I thank everyone who has been willing to RP with me.

When it comes to Yuriko's story with Ruki, I'm very glad that you have seen all the different aspects of it. Even though the darkest parts haven't probably been that visible. As a romance author, I quite enjoy bringing this particular romance to life with its cute moments but also dark depths and the heat between the couple.

I guess this is a good chance to say that Cassie is a very well-built character too. She is complex with her struggles and different personality traits. Other than that, her looks are amazing, and you have brought her alive visually too. I truly admire that. 💙

Also, you are right. It is beautiful to create something and keep sharing that with passion and love. While I want to keep at that myself, I do hope that everyone else does the same. Be proud of your creations and let the world see them. And spread the love around you whenever you can.

The Little Mermaid: Mixed Review

I finally got around to seeing the Little Mermaid today and I must say my reaction was mixed. Overall all it was enjoyable and some of the updates were great but others were a bit perplexing. Let’s dive in! Yes, pun intended. 

Pros

1) Ariel’s mirror trick. Small change, but makes Ariel slightly more clever than lucking into catching Flounder on one side of the anchor, yanking him back and immediately giggling about near their death experience.

2) Eric’s updates. Eric from the original was cute, but the new movie gave him more depth. He saves dolphins! He’s trying to end isolationist policy and help his country through trade. He is an avid explorer and collector. He’s getting sick of the rules of his society. 

3) Eric get his own SONG which was great! The song itself was only fine, but that he got one was top notch. 

4) Halle’s voice, particularly in Part of Your World was amazing!

5) Ariel’s sisters. It’s nice we got to see her interact with them. I also liked that they have their own seas that they each manage.

6) Gorgeous CGI. I thought Under the Sea in particular looked fantastic, despite my other issues with the scene. The final battle with Ursula also was cool. The Mermaid bodies were STUNNING!

7) Ariel experiencing moments of doubt and nearly backing out the contract. Makes her seem smarter than the original Ariel.

8) Ariel’s Relationship with Eric. Because of the Eric updates they seem to actually more in common that both being pretty, pro-animals royalty and Florence nightingale syndrome. They also got more time together.

9)  Grimsley’s updates. A Grimsley who is aware of Eric mood shifts, breaking rules to see him happy, and uncool with his sudden engagement to Vanessa is a Grimsley I love and respect.

10) Blood magic versus signing a contract closes the “Why doesn’t she just write it down?” loophole. Clearly merpeople have linguistical magic speaking, but that doesn’t necessarily translate to writing. 

11) Consequence song. Having Ariel reflect that surrendering her voice maybe hadn’t been so smart was nice. Go self-reflection!

12) Ariel getting to her travel checklist: Fire and dancing in particular.

13) Eric’s ability to understand sea creatures is consistent. Very clever way to have him learn Ariel’s name. 

14)  Update to Kiss the Girl about asking if you are not sure someone wants to kiss you. Consent is so so nice! 

15) Scuttle Butt song. I thought it was fun, and definitely the most memorable of the new stuff. 

16) Cutting the Sebastian vs crazy chef scene. Can’t say I missed that.

17) Ariel being the one to break the necklace. As long as it isn’t messing with the story, I’m all for empowering the heroine.

18) Ariel’s electrocution. They are electric eels after all, and seems like a nice touch of cruelty. 

19) Casting. Loved everyone. Scuttle, Ursula, Grimsley, and Vanessa in particular killed it. 

Cons

1) Eric is adopted and it goes NO WHERE. I don’t know why it was thrown in there, except to explain how a white boy is a prince in a tropical island nation. If you are going to do colorblind casting, then DO it. It’s a fantasy country. It can be however diverse you want it to be! 

2) Ariel knowing the ship was used for war and the words “feet” “fire” and “mirror” but not having visited the surface before. Scuttle doesn’t know shit so where did she pick up those vocab words?

3) Scuttle intro. Scuttle is a seagull and she should not be having underwater conversations. Also she eats a fish right in front Ariel and Flounder. Since we don’t ever address what mermaids eat, make a big deal about humans eating fish, and are inconsistent about intelligent vs unintelligent ocean creatures we really should not being eating fish in front of the talking fish. 

4) Siren song is real. They changed lyrics to make consent be a thing and then implied Ariel has vocally hypnotized Eric. Sebastian said she did it to “save his life,” but he seemed to be breathing before. He looked like he was slowly re-gaining consciousness. We saw no wound closing and her lyrics weren’t about healing a la Tangled. If the thing Ursula does is a different use of sirens voice they should have clarified that better.

5) Half-Assing Eric’s country and the Mermaid Society Situation. Eric is dismissive, but the sailors are in the know about the coral moon and the power of the siren song. Both real things. The queen is aware of “Sea Gods.” Some supernatural force seemingly causing the shipwrecks. Was it Triton? He seems upset about the reef damage, which is odd if he is causing the wrecks. Was is Ursula? It is just bad luck? Who killed Ariel’s mother?

6) Under the Sea with no chorus of fish singing just doesn’t sound as good. Nobody is doing anything Sebastian is talking about. Dolphins aren’t “the fish in the see is happy and off through the waves they roll.” Dolphins are mammals and they eat the not so happy fish. Weird to show them during that line.   

7) Ariel’s not acting “in love” in front of her sisters, prompting the Triton’s convo with Sebastian.  

8) Skulls littering Ursula’s cave. Hard to see how Ariel is remotely fooled by the “I’m just misunderstood” routine when she enters swimming over hundred of mermaid skeletons. Also Ursula is literally playing with a skull during her song.

9) Half-Assing Ursula’s backstory. You can’t just throw out there that she is Ariel’s aunt and not follow up. Especially since they are different species. 

10) Ariel doesn’t reference losing her home, her family or her best friend Flounder in Poor Unfortunate Souls. What’s up with that?

11) The whole “forget the kiss” line in the contract. The reason Triton can’t override the contract is that it is magically binding. Ursula shouldn’t be able to change the terms. Also it seems to keep wiping her memory which is a weird thing to have built in when the sea witch didn’t know Flounder and Sebastian were there. To make it worse, I don’t see the point. Would Ariel have been a bad person if she wanted Eric to kiss her so she could stay human? Not to me, especially considering he is part of the reason she wants to stay human.  

12) Ursula monologues and talks to her tentacles like she is Doc Oc, but not to her eels. Where’s the relationship? She needs to FREAK OUT about her babies. That needs some set-up.

13) Inconsistent treatment of Ariel being able to hear her friends in the “Kiss the Girl” scene. Sebastian’s goes “Ariel doesn’t want us to interfere so we will use nature noises!” and then sings in front of her and she doesn’t care.

14) Eric’s Mom going from “GROSS SEA CREATURE!” to “WELCOME TO THE FAMILY!“ quickly and seemingly without reason. 

15) The mermaid court being nowhere when Ariel is missing. The king of all the merpeople sends out his other six daughters and that’s it. 

16) Triton doesn’t make a contract to free Ariel, he just hands over the superweapon to the already powerful lunatic with no guarantees on his daughter’s safety. Hercules negotiated better. 

17) The final showdown. Where are Ariel’s sisters? Having them there would have created enough of a distraction for Ariel AND Eric to be the awesome tag-team power couple and together stop Ursula. We need something for Trident to respect him for other than his throwing a spear and witnessing Ariel being awesome.  

18) Triton being murdered then resurrected rather than transformed in a lowly sea barnacle. If mermaids can be resurrected why didn’t they do that with the mother?  

19) Final Scene. Getting married after the three days and on land of all places. Wrong on multiple levels. No modern princess should be marrying after three days. Just have them go off on a diplomatic/trade missions and dad and everyone shows up to say good bye/indicate a societal alliance. Also how rude to have a wedding where the bride’s family can’t attend. Just no. Finally having them also pop up closer to the shore than Ariel, literally in boats and nobody but Ariel is reacting. How did they ALL sneak by her?

I have felt slightly conflicted about the themes and ideas presented in this film. The fear Pulse is attempting to pull from us is something that people in this world dread, the possibility and inevitably of death and what comes afterward…no one knows what is beyond our lifetime on Earth and it is terrifying. However, I believe this is more psychological and philosophical horror compared to something like the Ring, and doesn’t work on everyone. It didn’t work on me, and I found a great portion of this film to not be creepy or that scary in all honesty, but the concept in itself is very thought-provoking.

The fear of death is ever present in every living individual. It is probably one of those fears that cross cultures and ways of life, a unifier that makes every human, or animal, equal. In many people's cases, it is not the fear of the inevitable but what comes after. There are many religions that have an answer to this humanly unanswerable question, we settle it with a higher being that can perceive that we cannot. Most have a nice and comforting answer, it is a paradise with an opposing, not-as-nice destination for those who don’t follow the religious rules. This puts fate into our own hands because our actions decide what happens after death. The idea in itself of existence after death is much more appealing than non-existence. Nobody wants to die, and existence after death can be seen as a loophole because rationally “you are not really dying.” Non-existence is comforting in its own way, there is just nothing. There is no fear of any eternal damnation, or suffering. The question is, what happens when people are given that answer of what is after death? I think people want to know and that’s why seemingly most of the human race succumb to the ghosts in this film. It could confirm people’s religious beliefs or scientific theories or lay to rest the anxieties of what is after. But what if it’s an answer so horrifying it rips away your will to live?

Of all the characters in this narrative, the audience without a doubt is Ryosuke. Although he is living through the end of the world, he feels more like an onlooker than a participant due to his lack of understanding of the horror. He believes in the now and the physical even when presented with the empty streets of Japan and the disturbing actions of Harue. There is a difference between being told the ideas of the afterlife and having direct, physical confirmation from the suffering spirits of the dead. Ryosuke and we will never understand until forced to have a glimpse into what awaits us, and even Ryosuke succumbs to it.

Being alive can already be hard, and interacting with others can be even harder. But we as humans in our nature, need each other. This is an idea explored in Neon Genesis Evangelion known as the “Hedgehog Dilemma.” Eternal suffering of being a spirit alone is one of the worst fates that any person could possibly imagine, there is no choice through religion nor an end to suffering through non-existence.

Aaah, Ryen! This is going to be a loong message because Yoongi isn't the only one with a lot of thoughts haha.

This whole time I have been growing more and more protective of OC with each chapter after seeing the way she overthinks everything and how much she really deserves. Now after reading Interlude I feel this ten times more for Yoongi. Our poor baby is really going through it y'all and it made me so sad to see him like this 🥺🥺🥺. But I'm also really glad we got to see his POV for all of these moments because the man really doesn't speak about all of that shit that is going on in his head huh.

First of all what a start and a way to set the mood with these lines:

"Another breath.

Another day. 

Filled with the same plaguing thoughts as the last."

I always appreciate when something from the beginning comes back around in the end like that.

I knew the basketball scene was going to get me mad but I was seeing red, it was almost as bad as Dalo really. I did agree with every thought of Yoongi's during that moment though like:

“Think you’re hot shit?” 

Uhh. He knows he is. But that’s besides the point." Like, that's right, he absolutely is .

"He can take heat. 

But when it comes to you? 

Yeah, no one’s getting away with that shit."

this one too, I've genuinely become just as protective of OC as everyone else in this story, she just deserves the world.

"when he purposefully lied about not having a pump in his car." ok Yoongi I see you 👀👀👀 If this doesn't prove how gone they were for each other from the start, I don't know what does.

Reading about how much he doubts and blames himself for everything was truly heartbreaking to read though, these lines made my heart physically hurt :

"Because he already knows he doesn’t deserve you in the first place."; "He did this to you. He should’ve been there."

It was really nice to see that as much as Yoongi has helped OC be more confident and not overthink so much, OC has helped him a lot too.

"But you somehow showed up on his doorstep after a whole year of him hating who he was. And whatever you did somehow repaired that broken record, allowing him to escape that headspace and do shit again."

This made me so soft and I really hope that one day Yoongi tells her all of this and how much she has helped him as well.

This chapter did make me fall in love with Yoongi more though, even though I thought that was impossible. Seeing how attentive he was to every reaction of OC's and what he thought about their moments together firsthand really almost killed me. I think these lines just speak for themselves:

"And it’s much easier to deal with than any other name he wants to change it to."; "You have no idea how much you’ve changed his life. Whether you’re his or not, that fact remains the same."

Also, all of the allusions to Yoongi's past in this have made me so curious. I hope that like OC, he will eventually be able to open up about past experiences that have hurt him, because that really is a step to healing from them.

"Once a space that saw many destructive arguments and silent, unfinished meals, your appearance started giving it new life. New energy. Energy that he can physically feel as he passes it on the way to his room. "; "Not after what he went through last time."

I love the way you add things like this in, there are always so many new things to think about and explore because of details like this and it makes the experience of reading and rereading so much richer and more rewarding.

Jimin really was a real one in this as well. I really appreciate a friend who knows when to be supportive and when to call you out on your bullshit too.

This line was the final straw for me on this roller-coaster of emotions: "This is exactly why he can’t be with you. This is exactly why he wants you to be his." I just love both of them so much and I really just want them to be happy 🥺🥺🥺

i'm glad you like the cyclical nature of the beginning and ending lines! i wanted to callback to the beginning, because "dal segno." it means to go back to "the sign," which is a symbol shown above the music staff that shows you where to start from when you see that notation. so. going back to the beginning because he has the same thoughts, that usually start from the basketball game, which was the sign (which is also why the banner is the way it is.)

the basketball scene had me so angry. like i know y'all have been wanting to know what happened there for so long, and i had to sit there and know by myself :(( it was lonely but i think it's worth it to see all the reactions now! reader does deserve to be protected and who better to do that than yoongi and his friends... ugh.

GOD the contradicting lines on how yoongi feels about reader at the end. it's honestly so relatable?? sometimes i feel the exact same way. it's inherently human to want something and yet know you can't/shouldn't. i feel for him. i just hope he comes to some realizations soon.
