Good morning/evening! Anon that asked about the concepts here. 😅 I’ve lately been super caught up on the angst potential of a Yuu who is slowly dying as a result of magic exposure due to not being from Twisted Wonderland. There’s just so many ways this could go, depending on how much Yuu likes being in Twisted Wonderland.
For instance, imagine living your entire life caught up in the wonder of fantasy and mythology only to be whisked off to a strange and wonderful world full of the magic that made up your childhood dreams. Getting to live your fantasies, see so many things that before you could only dream of, meet so many interesting people, and make memories that you would never forget. A fairytale given life. Only to be brought crashing down to earth with the knowledge that you are withering away here so far from home, possibly fated to never to see your loved ones again. The loneliness and fear that would set in with the realization as this turns from a dream come true to a complete nightmare.
A child cursed to die alone and forgotten as a stranger in a strange land.
Anyway, thoughts?
I love this idea, it’s so tragic. The idea of an inevitable ending blooming from something that was once so wonderful.
I almost think it’s more tragic if Yuu never wanted to return, if their life in this world was much better than their last. Finally having friends, people who care about them. Getting to live life and do things instead of wasting away in their room all day. Escaping everything in their past and leaving it all behind.
Of course, things are never that simple. Yuu does not belong here. They were never destined to befriend Ace and Deuce, to stay with Grim forever. There’s no one to blame, no one to curse except the cold, unforgiving hands of the universe.
You try to stay positive at first. Sure, you’re the first case of this happening and no one knows how to treat it, but that doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t mean you won’t be okay. Right?
When you first get sick, more people come to visit than you imagined. It’s endearing, seeing even those you weren’t close with stop by to express their support.
Riddle comes by, Cater and Trey following. Riddle tells you about classes, trying to keep you caught up on things. Cater tells him to stop worrying about school, but you like the normalcy of it. As though you’ll make it long enough to make keeping up with school worthwhile. Trey brings his baked goods, much more delicious than anything they’ve been serving in the hospital.
Even those who seemed apathetic to your existence would come sometimes. Leona came, it seemed, just to taken naps; you appreciated the silent company. Azul would stop by and drag Idia along for the three of you to play chess together. Kalim would come bursting in; it was nice, almost, to see someone that positive during this time. Jamil would accompany him, of course, immediately going into caretaker mode for you. Vil was busy, but he would stop by when he could, offering to get you an early screening of his newest movie. Rook would come too, describing everything going on at campus in such a beautiful way that it was almost as if you were there to experience it. Ortho would also insist on visiting you, meaning Idia would be forced to come once again, and play video games with you; it was perfect while you were bed-bound. Malleus and Lilia come when they can, bringing trinkets and small gifts. Malleus even offers to hold his club meetings in your room, if it were to help.
It’s harder to hold on to that hope once the symptoms start. It’s hazy, for one. You sleep most hours away, but it’s always a treat to wake up with Adeuce sitting in a chairs nearby, Grim cuddled into the side of the hospital bed.
It’s harder for everyone to visit, after a while. You understand. They have their own lives, things keeping them away. They have futures, unlike you. Still, it’s a bit lonely, to feel that everyone is starting to forget about you before you’re even gone. Even with your friends and Grim spending every hour they aren’t in class here, it’s hard.
It just isn’t fair.
You aren’t from this world, and soon it’s as though no one will remember you were ever here in the first place.

"XIAO, what's your deepest desire?"
you're draped over his body in your shared bed, scraps of twilight spilling in through the window and bathing your torso in violet hues. as he tenses, you can feel his heartbeat pick up from how you're lying on his chest, but his voice is steady when he answers, "bold of you to assume adepti even have desires." "i'm nothing if not bold," you chuckle, finger idly tracing the outline of the green marks splattered across his arm, "you should know that by now."
you can hear the smile in xiao's voice when he replies, "indeed i do, dove." he shifts slightly, wrapping his arm around your frame and tucking his chin over your head. one might believe that this kind of skinship would be unthinkable for the conqueror of demons, and it is a fact that rang true at one point. but both time and love worked their magic on the adepti's heart until he learned to trust you, and he swears that may have been the best decision of his existence. "why do you ask?" he murmurs, voice muffled by your hair.
"just curious," you shrug, tilting your head up to meet his gaze, "wondering what's going on up in that pretty head of yours, loverboy." his eyes seem to gleam under the light of the stars, and you're struck by how stunning he is - his honey irises look at you with so much quiet affection that you think you could drown in them. his nose scrunches at the pet name, and a light blush dusts his cheeks, "i told you to stop calling me that." "maybe you'd prefer pookie? or sweetheart? baby?" your voice takes on a teasing lilt, smirk widening as xiao grows more and more flustered with every nickname.
he clicks his tongue, though there's no real irritation in the sound, "it's late. you should go to sleep." "aww, but we're having so much fun!" "goodnight, dove," his tone is gruff and abrupt, but you know it's just because he's embarrassed. now you're the one who's getting flustered, because you're so happy that you're close enough with xiao to be able to tell apart these subtle differences in his exterior. you nuzzle impossibly closer to him, "for your information, my wish was for us to be together forever!" a yawn slips out of your mouth before you can elaborate, and the repetitive motion of your lover stroking your head is already sending you off to dreamland. "goodnight, xiao," you manage to mumble, and then you're asleep.
once certain you aren't going to suddenly wake up and tease him, xiao permits a gentle smile to curve his lips. pressing a featherlight kiss to the crown of your head, he whispers, "my deepest desire is for you to be happy. i wish for nothing more." and with the galaxy as the sole witness to his confession, the yaksha permits the drowsiness weighing heavy behind his eyes to finally overtake him.

☆ 731 DAYS, featuring xiao — time flew by when he was with you. who would’ve thought it had been two years already?
contents. gender neutral reader. fluff n' marriage, partly written from xiao's pov? very selfship-coded, just xiao reminiscing the past with you ♡ word count. 879
notes. hi guys ik you’re probably getting sick of all the xiao content which im so sorry about but i had to bc today is my two-year anniversary with xiao <3 plus it’s the first post of the new year so ofc i had to write for him ! it’s shorter than most of my other xiao posts tho so hopefully you all won’t find it to be too boring …
Tumblr media
glittering stars twinkled across the moonlit sky as the vigilant yaksha stood at the balcony of the wangshu inn, gazing towards the liyue plains beyond. he was waiting for someone; a certain person that he'd met right on this balcony what hadn't even felt that long ago.
it was certainly far more difficult circumstances back then; liyue was struggling from the loss of their archon, and he was left to pick up the pieces. up until then, the adeptus never thought he would find peace for himself. that was, until you came into his life.
the sound of footsteps creaking on the wooden staircase snapped him out of his thoughts. he would recognize those footsteps anywhere; that, and the familiar voice that exclaimed, “i’m back!”
xiao turned from where he stood, a tiny hint of a smile forming on his lips as he greeted his lover. “i was waiting for you, qingxin.”
there you stood with a sheepish grin on your face, plate of almond tofu in hand. "sorry, i got held back a bit from work. i made dessert for you, though.”
your husband pressed a kiss to your lips. “thank you, dear. it’s been a while since i’ve had a taste of your cooking.”
he turned his head away, voice lowered. “i’m sorry for making you come over to the inn instead of our home, but i wanted to meet with you here tonight.”
you nodded, reaching forward to grasp his hand in yours. “i know why. it’s a special place, and today is a special day, right? for you, for me, for us.”
xiao didn’t reply for a moment. “…‘the moon is beautiful tonight, isn’t it?’ that’s what you told me at this same spot, two years ago.” do you still remember the events of this day back then?”
“of course i remember.” you walked towards the edge of the balcony with xiao in tow, leaning against the railing. “the lantern rite was in full swing this time of year. i wanted to watch the fireworks with you, so i came over the wangshu inn with some tofu.”
“but i was off fighting monsters,” xiao remarked. “i apologize to have kept you waiting for so long that night.”
“no, but that’s what made the moment special, y’know?” you smiled at the memory. “i waited here in this spot for what seemed like hours, calling out your name. the sun had already set when i arrived, and at one point keqing even told me i was going to miss the celebration if i stayed here and tried to drag me off.”
you turned to face him, and xiao nearly lost his breath. “but then you came.”
you looked ethereal standing there, bathed in moonlight, the serenest of smiles on your face.
“i did,” he replied, squeezing your hand. “and that was the moment my life changed forever.”
“for the better, or for the worse?” you joked.
he flicked your forehead. “don’t ask such dumb questions, silly.” xiao looked up towards the sky, the moon high up in the sea of stars. “it’s just the same, isn’t it…”
the conditions that night been exactly the same as this; except the sky had been lit up with fireworks two years ago. the same year that he had kneeled on this balcony, confessing his love for you as colorful sparks lit up the sky.
“will you marry me, y/n?”
“the same as what?” you asked, leaning your head on his shoulder.
the adeptus shook his head. “nothing, just thinking out loud.” he looked down towards the first floor of the inn, where traveling merchants were still strolling about. “a shame the lantern rite doesn’t start until later this year. we could have watched the fireworks show together again.”
“i thought the vigilant yaksha hated the lantern rite,” you teased him. “is the conqueror of demons getting soft, hm?”
xiao slapped your arm in protest. “shut up.” he looked away, grumbling. “i only said so because i know you enjoy the display, mortal.”
you laughed, a sound that was music to his ears. “you’re so silly, xiao.” you smiled and gave him a kiss. “that’s okay, the stars are enough of a show for me.”
“is it now?” he pressed another kiss to your lips, one hand running through your hair. “well then, i know the perfect place where we can watch the stars.”
you followed his hand as it pointed up towards the roof.
“yippee!”
as you settled down to stargaze, his arms wrapped around your waist so you wouldn’t fall, xiao couldn’t help but think to himself how lucky he was. he had always thought his karma meant he couldn’t feel happiness, but now you had come into his life, and for the first time he felt at peace. as if he could finally be happy, after a millennia of suffering.
yes, in some ways being immortal was a curse; but it was also a blessing, for if he was just a mere mortal long ago he wouldn’t have met you. the light of his life, his love. xiao was so glad to have you with him these past two years, and the adeptus promised himself that he would never leave your side, until forever do us part.
Tumblr media

Kinktober Day 29: Xiao- Breath Play
R18+ Minors Do Not Interact
Read on Ao3. <- Day 28 Day 30->
Everything about the Yaksha had always drawn you in, from his seemingly perpetual seriousness to the piercing gaze of his golden eyes. He was also exceedingly dangerous. There was no denying that simple fact, even if he was usually kind. He was merciless to those who deserved punishment.
He stares down at you now with those piercing eyes. His hand is on your throat even as he sits up straight with his cock firmly inside of you. The pressure of his grasp made you swallow and become even more accurately aware of it. It was expertly done in a way that wouldn’t hurt you but still made your head spin regardless.
“Even like this you still don’t try to flee,” Xiao comments, sounding almost in awe as he bends down to your face–his grasp not loosening any.
He lets his head come close to yours so your lips brush and his hair tickles against your skin. His hips ground into yours so that you could feel his hardened cock inside you with more intensity. Still, your head was dizzy from the way he held your throat and it made your senses swim even as breath entered your lungs. It was like floating on an unbelievable high.
“Say my name,” he murmurs against your lips as he bucks up into you again making you moan out.
“Xiao,” you reply. It’s all the encouragement he needs before his lips smash into yours and his pace is feverish. Your hands moved to claw down his back as his own hand loosened its hold on your throat–allowing the blood to return to your brain.
The tingling sensation combined with his pace was enough to make your brain shatter with the orgasm you felt wreck your body. It left you gasping for air as a choked cry escaped you and you clamped your legs around him to hold him close.
Xiao wasn’t very far behind as he came inside of you with little more than a strangled grunt before pulling out to lay next to you on the roof of the Wangshu Inn. The both of you caught your breath as you stared at the stars above in the sky.
He hadn’t ever been one for cuddling after, nor was he usually one to linger long for fear of his karma. Still, he stays for a bit more and reaches with his hand to hold one of yours while the other examines your neck.
“There shouldn’t be any bruising, but be sure to see a pharmacist if there is any,” Xiao instructs and you smile–nodding your head. He wasn’t the most expressive, but you still knew your lover cared in his own way.

Hello! First time requesting on your blog so I hope I do it right.
Could I request Zhongli with an s/o who's a sea demon? The two were originally enemies because of reader's immensely powerful control over water and the two would fight for the silliest reasons. But after a bunch of fights, Zhongli began to fall for and eventually they got married but hid their relationship from the public.
People still believed that the two hate each other, so imagine their shocked faces when Zhongli and reader meet up and start kissing while calling each other pet names.
I lost my energy to post the past days so… yes ✅/⭐️.
Love me some gods :) first archon request wooo!!!!!
Gonna make this so we call him by Morax just bc I feel like we would say that until or when In liyue harbor.)
Lovers Hidden in Plain Sight
Zhongli x sea demon reader
Fluff / Angst ~ Hehehhehe…. :D (idk how old yanfei is so she isn’t included, some adepti aren’t included as well. Shenhe and yaoyao aren’t here either)
(SeaGazer and Skybracer are dead, but not in this. Skybracer was the one in lantern rite 1.3 running in the sky and SeaGazer was the bird in 3.4, or well modeled after the bird lantern.)
“Morax!” You said as you saw him eat a bit of your sandwich. Slightly angered at him as he opened his eyes and looked at you.
“Sorry Y/N I was hungry.” He replied as you came closer. You scoffed at him and hit him lightly. The adepti watched you and Zhongli at the picnic.
Xiao was with Ganyu and the other yakshas Seemingly interested by cloud retainer and mountain shaper. The birds entertained the them.
Madam ping and moon carver focused on the wellbeing of the picnic and little gathering. With gouba helping out with them.
You looked at Zhongli with anger. Trying to get your desired sandwich back to which he responded by handing it over and splitting it into two.
You were shocked and take the half he gave you. Staying silent as the kids came up to you. Also wanted some of your sandwich. You gave them the half Zhongli gave you as they all took pieces.
Zhongli noticed this and gouba gave him more food. Handing a full sandwich to you and ate his. SeaGazer and Skybracer focused on keeping everyone safe. Watching from afar to make sure no one would bother the group and ruin the gathering.
The event was enjoyful and would have many more to come in the future. Except the archon war… ending the lives of some of the adepti. Effectively protecting liyue and dieing in honor. -_-_-_-_
Many moons have since passed since the dreadful war. Many thoughts still clouded your mind of the images of fallen soldiers and adepti. You shaked your head clearing it out of the memories. Making your way to one of the restaurants you had a reservation for.
Seeing as Zhongli was waiting for you. Both of you went inside and enjoyed your lunch. Going out and playfully fighting. Many were puzzled. Weren’t you and Morax enemies? Staying close to Zhongli on a bench you kissed and called him a pet name with him doing the same back.
Many were confused as you got bombarded with questions. Answering as many as you could before rushing off somewhere with him. “Too much people for my liking it was like a crowd.” You said as you arrived to the spot.
“It’s understandable. Would you like some tea and to go take a stroll?” “Yeah! We can go tomorrow.” You said with a smile and dangled your feet. “Why are you so dedicated to hiding your archon form?” Asking him in a whisper. “Well they think I died remember?” “I wasnt there.”
“Oh.” You both said to eachother and laughed. Looking at the view ahead of you both. Watching the cranes fly and animals move around was relaxing.

"shh you're gonna wake him up!" a gentle voice could be heard among giggles and chuckles.
"relax, sister bonanus, brother alatus is a heavy sleeper. plus, he isn't the type to get angry with us over such trivial things'' a stronger male voice replied, as he was the one with the brush painting shapes on his comerade's face
"true but…"
"oh, hes waking up!" another femenine voice could be heard as the slumbering yaksha wakes up
the formerly sleeping yaksha stirs awake as he blinks off the fatigue from his afternoon nap. his comrades surround him with amused looks on their faces, none of them daring to speak up.
"oh alatus, you're awake" another voice could be heard that was separated from the group of snickering yakshas.
"[name].." he sighs as his amber eyes catch his lover's.
as his lover comes closer to him, they cant help but pause in their tracks. laughter bubbles up from their chest as they cover their mouth to suppress their laugh.
"dear… you have something on your face" they said between giggles and alatus became curious.
he looks back to the others as they look away from him, suppressing laughter of their own. alatus got up from his resting place to look at his reflection in the river nearby and was not-so pleasantly greeted by the markings that littered his face.
looking back at his companions with pure confusion written on his features as they couldn't hold back their laughter. the quiet place at which general alatus found peace was not as lively as the harbour. his face couldn't help but beam with a cherry-red hue, as he walked over to his significant other to hide his embarrassment in the nape of their neck.
"aww look! he's as red as indarius now!" the four-armed yaksha mused as the less amused pyro yaksha huffed:
"watch your words, brother, for it was your idea to paint his face in the first place"
hearing this, alatus' face swiftly rose from your neck. if looks could kill, bosacius would be long dead. the anemo yaksha slowly walked towards the electro, weapon in hand as he weaved it between his fingers while the other steadily walked away from him.
"woah woah woah, easy there, brother. it was just a prank! you know, a joke?" he tried to calm down alatus as his movements quickened causing the targeted yaksha to run for dear life.
you and the other yaksha's laughed as alatus and bosacius ran around, the former with the intention to catch (but not harm) the former.
a few hours have passed as you finally got the time to wipe off the remaining paint off of your lover's face. his face rested, as he let you use a damp cloth to remove the markings.
"[name],"
"yes, my love"
"...remind me to never let my guard down again." alatus sighed as he slouched slightly.
finally getting all of the paint off his face. you place the cloth down and hold his face in your hands, squishing his cheeks a little.
"you need to rest sometimes, alatus, having your guard now while sleeping is a sign of sufficient rest" you kiss his forehead as you continue to reassure him, then both his cheeks, his nose (which he scrunched up his face in result) and then finally a chaste kiss on his lips.
he chases you for a longer kiss as you relish in your lover's presence. finally pulling apart, you rest your forehead against his basking in his natural warmth as he wraps his arms around your waist.
Though memories as sweet as these, he can always look back and you'll be there, with him, together.
— — —
The karmic debt was too much to handle, he screamed as he could feel the overbearing grief and guilt wash over him, almost enveloping him whole. Menogias and bonanus seem to be at war, indarius has succumbed to the same madness as alatus and bocasius cannot be sensed by the letter. as alatus decent of madness he wonders, was this the fall of the adepti? has all of his work to serve rex lapis come to an abrupt close as his struggles remained in vain.
As he was about to accept this, a soft melody played in the far distance. It was a soothing song that alatus has never heard before, that cleared his mind from his upcoming doom the sound was akin to the qingxin flowers that would sway in the breeze on mountain tops, like the petals being carried away by the wind so too did his consciousness sway. before he completely passed out he heard a voice:
“you're safe now, alatus”
He didn't know how much time had passed when he woke up, maybe a few days or even up to a week. His body felt utterly spent as he struggled to sit up on the bed he was laying on. looking around the room he saw you, sat on a stool on the foot of his bed, your head in your hands as you seemed to be asleep.
alatus huffed as he saw you, leaning over to move your stray hair from your face. As he moved closer he could hear you whine in your sleep, your eyebrows furrowing as you mumbled out “alatus.”
finally reaching your figure, he flicked the straw hair out of your face as he caressed your cheek. although unconscious, the familiar touch calmed your sleeping body and formed a small smile. You were there with him even at his lowest, when he needed you the most you did nothing but comfort him and made dear ol’ alatus feel loved. Through the good times and bad, you will always be there, with him, together
— — —
“these two lovers were not bound by the limitations of time. It was truly ‘till death do them part. Their story was told through every medium of expression, from the exciting works of playwrights, to beautiful pieces of art. the first lover has been through it all, his heart hardened by the world but he can find refuge that makes his head swirl. This fuzzy feeling of love he was no stranger to, since he was experiencing it for millennia but since it was with them he wanted to feel it forever…”
You two listened to iron-tongued tian from the rooftop of third round knockout. You were quite interested to see how mortals interpreted your relationship with the now called vigilant yaksha nowadays, so you came to liyue harbour with your lover to hear their stories.
“So what do you think xiao, do you think ithe story accurate enough?” you ask your lover as you lean your head onto his shoulder. The adepti meerly scoffed as he replied:
“Mere mortal words cannot express how much we hav ebeen through together. No mater how flamboyant”
“Oh so you like the story!”
“thats not what i said!” he rebuts, feigning anger. You laugh at him as you place kiss at hi cheek. Xiao hums as he leans into you more, pressing a chaste kiss on the top of your head in return. You two gaze at the liyue night sky as you listen to more of the story-teller’s tales.
You were together for everything, through sweet and sour moments. While working under rex lapis and even throughout the archon war and beyond. The tale of your love is even being told among story-tellers across teyvat. Despite all of these events, you have always been with him and he has always been with you, the both of you, together, forever.

Xiao x Reader Drabble
Plays off my Ex-archon Reader! idea but can be read as a standalone. Spoilers! for Xiao's name but that's it. Written in second perspective, so no pronouns.
For the first time since donning the name Xiao, the yaksha trembles. Memories resurface from the depths of which they were locked away. And he remembers. He remembers you. The eighth archon wiped from history, forced to be forgotten. But how could he truly forget about you?
You, who stood with the God of Geo but remained powerful in your own right. You, who gracefully sparred with him and his fellow yakshas. Not once falling to their blades. You, whose light kept their souls safe from corruption. You, who showed him the worth of humanity. You, whose death shook his mighty reverence for his savior. You. It is impossible to forget you.
You look different, he notes as he steps forward. Younger. Weaker. Frailer. More human. He almost doesn't believe it's actually you sitting on the terrace of Wangshu Inn. But as he sits across from you, a small table with a plate of Almond Tofu separating your bodies, he knows. No other being could hold the same spark in their eyes.
Your shoulders ease as you rake over the little changes your friend has undergone through the decades.
"I missed you, Alatus."
Alatus. Only you can soften the blow that comes with his true name. Thankfully, you save him the trouble of responding by pushing his favored dish towards him.
"You- You're the one who's been leaving these?" He motions to the dark colored sugar crystals scattered around the plate. Hidden in the candies is a remedy to ease the pain of his ever-encroaching darkness.
It's cute how you nod timidly to reply, perhaps, that's why your subdued nature was reserved only for your past lover. Your voice prevents his thoughts from spiraling in a way he didn't know it could. Despite the time spent apart, your bond with him remains strong and he talks more than he has in the past century.
As the stars cross the dark blue sky, the table moves and you sit beside each other. His body grows rigid as your head rests on his shoulder. You were the only one willing to touch him in such a way and he's been deprived of it for so long. Slowly, he succumbs to the light weight of you leaning into him.
Although he won't admit it aloud, he's missed you too. He has lost many comrades before, but your death hit him differently. It forced him to understand the saying, 'you don't know what you have until you lose it.' You were a permanent fixture in the world, he never considered a life without your presence.
Xiao doesn't fool himself in ignoring your vast differences from the last memory he has of you. You are more human than god now. And that both terrifies and comforts him. Humans are fragile creatures but he finds himself closer to them than an archon.
"If you find yourself in more trouble than you are capable of escaping, call out my name. Either one. I will be there."
A sad smile curls your lips and he understands your doubt in his declaration. The dangers you face in your journey span as far as Celestia. However, he's concluded that your companionship is not worth losing.

DESTINY OF A YAKSHA
Xiao x reader
You're aware, that as Yashkas, you were destined to misery, but just as the hourglass was running out, you decided to cut your karmic dept medication short. Unable to move forward, that was until an ex-lover of yours decided to interrupt your brutal plan.
Implies: Angst, hurt/comfort, fluff, Suicide references, intrusive thoughts, basically just giving up, suggestive themes
A/N: hello! I'm back from the hiatus so I'm so sorry for the late update<\3, also this was rushed and I def did not backread it so there might be some mistakes, crying rn.
Tag list: @apyrose @helpmelord
<Chapter 4 | Chapter 5 (you're here) | Chapter 6 (coming soon)>
You were currently unable to use any of your powers, not that you had a choice– enabling them will lead to direct insanity, you just didn't want to have this karma unleashing upon you in the close presence of your friend. Thought, what confused you more than anything, was the fact that you were still alive.
It was practically impossible to avoid this outcome, what made it possible for you to make it out alive? This was the question that has been wandering around your mind. Surely, you must've accidentally found a remedy to your ever-long-lasting curse.
Your thoughts were immediately interrupted by Paimon's voice calling from afar, you looked up at her, and the traveler followed her from behind with a few grilled tiger fish in his hands. Even if it lasted for a split second, you could almost instantly identify the karmic dept within you weaken.
Weird.
"I heard that you requested my presence." Xiao finally heard someone approach him from behind, his hands tightened around the rails of the balcony as some sort of nervousness overtook his body.
"Morax?"
"I've told you, dear friend. I go by the name of Zhongli now." Zhongli raised his hand, dismissing him as he said with a brief smile.
"My apologies," Xiao replied rather quickly, stepping aside as to welcome the God of contracts next to him.
"No need, I must apologize as well for my tardiness."He let out a chuckle, urging forward as his arms were chained against his back "But I do have a pretty good idea of what this discussion is about. Enlighten me."
Xiao looked at him with some uncertainty lingering in his facial features, he turned his head towards the view of his surroundings around the inn, and the wind around him sparked against his soft skin– he inhaled a generous amount of fresh air to help ease up the stress creeping on his back.
He cleared his throat and then proceeded to say "There were some complications that occurred lately, it involved (Y/n)."
"I see... What kind of complications exactly?"
"Her Karmic dept, it's spiraling out of control, fortunately, I was able to sense it the moment I first saw her back in battle." If anything, his tense posture and the hands gripping tightly around the metal railing of the balcony were nothing but noticeable to Zhongli.
"Well, that is the fate that every Yaksha had encountered so far.–" Xiao stayed quiet, unmoving as he let his statements flow from his mouth. "–Thought."
"I'm pretty sure that it's quite too early."
"Early for what?" The Adeptus raised an eyebrow, confused at his words.
"As the both of you know, I give you medicines concerning your debt every once in a while. Not only is it supposed to kill the pain from quarreling against this curse, but it is also a way to slow down the process." Zhongli wrapped his arms against his chest, informing the obvious to his fellow.
Xiao hesitates before sighing deeply and retorting his answer "I'm aware, but I don't see what this entails in this situation."
"It does. I'm by no means the one who should be telling one's business, but judging by your reaction towards all of this..."
"I don't think (Y/n) is taking her medicines." his cat-like eyes narrowed at the mere thought of this information.
"What?"
"If it were the case of her naturally arriving at the pinnacle of her doom, then you'll be also suffering the same outcome in a small matter of time."—
Just as the Yaksha was about to say something, he was quickly interrupted.
—"But I doubt you feel anything that intense right now, do you?"
"Then... Why would she be avoiding her medicines? Surely she's not that dumb." all sorts of thoughts were running through his mind, and he desperately needed more answers.
"I'm afraid that I also don't have an answer to that, but if we take a look at this from a more logical perspective... The reason would be quite tragic."
"What is it...?"
"You know the answer to that." Zhongli was now looking at him carefully, for once, even the God of contracts was at a loss for words "You care for her. I know you do."
He put his hand on his shoulder and proceeded to say "I might not know what exactly happened between the two of you, but acting would be your best bet rather than thinking."
"you're going already?" the question escaped Paimon's lips the moment your feet reached the floor.
Nodding at her almost instantly, your answer recalled her of your tough job "Yeah, duty calls, right?"
Being a Yaksha also meant for you that you were supposed to shed blood for your land, and fight till the bitter end: protecting Liyue was the main subject of the contract you had with Morax. Therefore, you were considered nothing but one of the few heroes that resided in endless wars.
"We can help you out!" She flew forward as her eyes determined nothing but the pure intention to persuade you, the traveler also nodded in approvement.
Maybe you would've let them join you, but at this point, the more you tried to get out of the shell you were swathed in the more the void pulled you further in as several chains mentally blocked you from any crusades "no, no worries, I'll make sure to take my daily dose of rest if that's what you're worried about."
"I guess, just be careful." that was the last thing you heard as the voices faded away, the more you stepped away the more you felt uneasy, and the feeling of being constantly watched reappeared from thin air. Your steps continued as every single molecule started to miraculously weigh on your shoulders.
You hated the fact that you were actively lying to your friends, you hated how you reassured them with empty promises, pretending to plant a seed when there was no ground, to begin with. You hated how you envied others for having to experience life without its atrocities, you hated the way blood would drip from your hands as you mercilessly slaughtered anyone that could cause a possible threat to your land. You wanted to go, you wanted to finally feel the peace you never experienced but sought for the entirety of your life.
Most importantly, you hated yourself for going to the one person who you ran from the most. It was funny, hilarious, even. You shooed him away like a cat just to come back crawling for his help.
It was painful, you needed to get out, but you didn't want to go. It felt like your physical, spiritual and mental forms were entering a perpetual cycle of battling within you, both sides striving for peace while the other is begging you to keep going.
And as much as you wanted peace, you felt more called to listen to your spiritual side.
"Xiao?" you called out.
Nothing.
You sighed—
Just for the familiar burst of air to arise right behind you.
"You called?"

﹙ % the enchanting allure of love. ﹚
ft. diluc, kaeya, xiao, scaramouche, childe, kazuha contains: gn!reader, fluff, sfw kisses, bittersweet, lore spoilers, archon quest spoilers, backstory spoilers, soft content
summary: what is love with him like?
[♡] plz forgive any spelling/grammatical errors, english is not my first language! ^ㅁ^
Tumblr media
he may not be around for a majority of the time, however, love with diluc is more bewitching than the beauty of a new morning. every golden sunrise is filled with a variety of lethargic, chaste kisses peppered across your face, a smile holding nothing but significance & the euphoric feeling of deep devotion adorning his lovely lips. for the nights you spent alone in the manor, he would make sure to leave a letter behind, words of ink sinking into a simple paper left a bigger impact on your heart than you would have anticipated, his phrases full of admiration sent your chest thrumming with intense vibrations meant for a fever... or rather one's average love sickness. he knows the day will come when you leave him just like his father, yet he swears that will never happen, as long as he is here.
true to his appealing charm, kaeya's endearing tenderness for you leaves a satisfying enticement in your heart, the place only he can feel free to cherish, yearning for any sort of reciprocation all the same. every moment his fascinating periwinkle gaze meets yours, you swear you catch a glimpse of the hidden adoration he's been hiding all along from you, yet his grins & meaningful kisses make up for the facade that keep you from your lover. unlike his vision, his gestures are nothing but warm & fond, confirming you're comfortable with such, or watching his snarky comments as to make sure he isn't overstepping boundaries. the calvary captain wishes you hadn't chosen to love someone so cruel...
surprising, how the vigilant yaksha of liyue has come to soften at the presence of but a mere mortal. xiao supposes, this is what love feels like, & even so, he can't help but identify himself as nothing but the burden you carry in your worthwhile life. people at a fruitful age similar to you should be out & about, finding a person to suit, & most certainly not a monster as ghastly as him. yet he yearns for your touch every time, akin to that of a needy child clinging to their favourite toy. his arms that were once littered with dreadful battle scars now embrace your figure to his body, keeping you close & reassuring you, he'll stay. his karmic debt will never affect you, he thinks, as long as he is careful in the near future.
the raiden shogun needed a comrade, but he was deemed frail. scaramouche recalls those desolate nights he spent weeping to himself in the darkness of his room, & now he has someone to take the pain away. he could never bring himself to brazenly belittle you, it's you, after all. the one who allowed him into your heart, his tears peering from the eyeline of his indigo hues that lovingly admire your gentle & patient nature with him, reassuring that he'll have the same happiness he craves for. he wonders, why does he still need the content sensation of happiness? he has you, & you're more than enough.
childe often asks himself, what do you see in him? what do you see behind those malicious, deep admiral eyes with a hideous intent only the dense of the most simple-minded wouldn't figure out? were you ever to answer his constant questions, you'd reply with ease. you love him for him. his boyish charm, his meek way of gifting you the romantic gestures you deserve more than anyone in all of teyvat, his charming grins... the fact that he's a bloodthirsty harbinger is more than a good reason to leave him by now. so why stay? though he knows he could never leave you, archons, he wish he could, to spare you of his vile deeds, but with your captivating complexion, he eventually perceived the fact that he, too, could love.
a wandering samurai belonging to the city of eternity worships your very existence moreso his own archon. love with kazuha is enthralling. his words never fail to carry a foreign but perplexing feeling to your delicate heart, his soothing tone of voice causing the most strongest of winds to fall silent, his lenient smile triggering a calming sentiment for anyone else in need of comfort. though, he often travels overseas, his haikus dedicated to you manage to arrive at your doorstep every time, & you never heard the beguiling three words the same after meeting the one truly made for you, for every word that left his lips sounded like an honest to celestia promise.

if you don't love me, then why are you here?

a guileful smirk settles itself onto rose—kissed lips, lithe fingers curving as the delicate hand gripped the glaive's jaded stem—breathing rapid and laboured—struggle displayed onto the guise of divinity's child.
the night was young, tranquillity becoming the obscured backdrop for the moon's dappled beauty—ever was its form a reflection of lunar serenity, a symphony of stars; dewdrops glimmering as if it were singing praises for the golden purity centring the ashen night—the duality of souls intertwined and graced by sanctity; the silhouettes of tragedy and beauty pressed up against each other's backs, weeping as it becomes a reflection of each other—melding into one as sorrow and grief taint the purest of souls.
gritting his teeth, the glint of fangs divert the puppet's attention—eyes widening as his struggle becomes futile, a blow to his stomach causing him to crash onto the hardened floors of stone.
a cough leaves him, ichor staining the floor a shade of crimson.
though, the smile adorning his face which does not show even a speckle of imperfection, falters not even in the face of adversity.
propping his upper body up with his elbows, the harbinger winces—and laughs.
he laughs not with the intention of mockery, not with that same grin etched onto his face as his mouth spills merriment and venom—no, it wasn't like that.
as the sentiment of the laugh he gives remains the same, it was one that was shattered and pieced back together like a puzzle. it was full of vigour, eyes burning with the flares of fire crackling in a dance of excitement—mad and crazed.
he was eccentric—an enigma, and the reactions he had given the conqueror of demons proved the harbinger's descriptors correct.
the adeptus reciprocates with his golden gaze squinting in what could be deciphered as a semblance of disgust, the coldness of amber sending a shiver up the man clad in violet, sodden with perspiration.
" What is your purpose for defiling these premises with your presence? "
poison pour from parted lips, stoic and with lack of regard.
as expected.
the aura of peril, it excites the form of god's worthless dross.
sharp tip of his polearm pointed at the other's neck—a warning of the archon of stone's rightful aide; however, it does not faze scaramouche, only becoming thrilled at the predicament he was in.
" And if I don't tell you? "
he replies with vivacity and cunning—treating the yaksha like a joke, wanting nothing more than the irises of gold that he possessed, swirling in anger—right at the palms of his hand.
eyebrows creased in irritation, irked at the other's noncompliance—various ornaments jingle as he goes on one knee, roughly gripping the visage of beauty and whispering to his ear.
" Talk like that again and I will not hesitate to plunge my polearm through your throat. "

Hi! Maybe strange question but you seem to have a good grasp on the boys’ personalities. I’ve been reading a lot of the yanderification of the TWST boys and started wondering which ones (if any) would be most likely to have what could be labeled “yandere” tendencies. Just seems like a fun train of thought to chase.
Do you have any thoughts on this? (Also sorry for the word salad.)
In my opinion, I think it’s pretty easy to twist most of their personalities to fit a yandere type, but as for who’s yandere characterizations are closest to their canon counterparts, I would say:
Malleus, I think is the obvious one. Although clearly I don’t think he’d be yandere in canon, it makes sense for him to have some clingy tendencies in a relationship, and an obsession with his romantic interest. It’s the whole ‘you’re the only person in the world who matters to me’ type trope, because of the social rejection and isolation he’s faced.
People usually take it two ways here, either a) very possessive and jealous or b) very protective. I tend to lean towards the second interpretation (although I love to explore the first one, the second is more canon to me). More ‘I would burn cities to protect you, move heaven and earth to make you happy’ than ‘I want to keep you locked up here all to myself, you belong to me.’ So yes, a yandere Malleus may kidnap you, but only to keep you ‘safe.’ He’s also not as emotionally immature as I think he’s sometimes characterized as (although I’m probably also guilty of this). He’s not really the type to force someone to love him, imo, because he wants it to be genuine (his insecurity stems from an inability to be accepted so forcing it wouldn’t truly fulfill that desire to be loved and validated).
Rook, I think also makes sense, but it’s hard to say because most of the time a lot of his characterization is just played for jokes. Like the whole ‘he’s a stalker, he knows a lot about everyone, others get unnerved by him, etc.’ It’s meant to be funny, but if we take it seriously then we could probably jump to some interesting conclusions about Rook. Also, combined with that ghost bride line about him ‘never letting his beloved go’ -
He seems the type to get fixated on some object of beauty, and I could see that developing into a yandere-like obsession. Maybe if he finally finds the one thing - or person - who he thinks is the true pinnacle of art and beauty, what he’s been searching for all along. Initial stalking to learn more about his interest, some uncomfortable attempts at closeness because he knows everything about them and they know nothing about him. Divided between showing his beloved off to the world and keeping them all nice and pretty for his own enjoyment - the only one who can truly appreciate their beauty. Also, once he’s felt the experience of love, I doubt he’d ever want to live without it. Maybe that’s the ‘true’ beauty of life to him, even.
Jamil is just so apathetic that if he ever did fall for someone, I can’t see him ever giving them up if he can help it. Also, we’ve seen in canon that Jamil isn’t above doing mildly bad things for self-serving interests (think masquerade with ruggie, manipulating the oblivious students).
He just wants something nice and soft for himself. Is that so much to ask for, after all he’s been through? Jamil is never allowed to have anything, nothing that Kalim doesn’t. It’s no wonder he’d cling to the only sweet thing he can get his hands on, something just for him. Even if you’re frustrated with him, even if you get tired of him, he isn’t so willing to just let you go. He deserves something nice like you, and you’ll be happy with him, even if you might need a ‘charming’ reminder of it sometimes.
Lastly, Jade and Floyd are popular yanderes to write for a reason. They both already have so much inexplicably unhinged energy even compared to the rest of the cast (other than maybe Rook). Jade seems so cold and apathetic, while putting on a mask of care. Floyd doesn’t really care to do so, wearing his many moods on his sleeve. But they’re still two sides of the same coin; they’re used to getting whatever they want, often by questionable means.
They also seem like they would be pretty possessive, even if it comes out in different ways. Jade and Floyd may be good at sharing with each other, but they’ve never been good at sharing with anyone else. Floyd will show you (and whoever thinks it’s okay to encroach on his partner) how upset he is by this particular development. I doubt you’d want to keep it up when he threatens your friends that get a little too close. Jade is different; the same annoyance and possessiveness still burns him, but he has a little more patience than Floyd. He isn’t willing to start any fights. Jade prefers not to get his hands dirty, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have other tactics to scare away anyone who tries to flirt with you.

Here is the masterlist of this series!
This fic is also posted on Ao3!
I kindly thank you for every like, reblogs and replies. Thank you very much!
You were in your bed, resting after the last events. After Xiao and Bosacius forced you to take almost two weeks off, you felt ready to go back to your duties, but every time you tried to tell them that you were ready to go back, they would start lecturing you that it was too soon.
Of course you wouldn't fight, but you also couldn't say that you weren't enjoying the quiet days. Although you also enjoyed your usual hectic routine, taking some time for yourself was just as good.
As for the injuries, what was left were just bruises that weren't very visible, and didn't hurt much anymore. The remedies you took were indeed incredibly effective, and seeing how quickly they took effect, you couldn't be prouder of your progress.
You had not seen Morax for the last few days, but Xiao had gone to visit him and assured you that he was fine. And so you hoped. And you also hoped that he was taking the correct medication that you recommended.
And with these days of downtime, some of the things you had to do had piled up, not to mention the fact that you would have to make a new spear. You would have to go after plants, flowers and other components that you would need to make the medicines. Not only for yourself but for Xiao and the others, since the painkiller you had prepared for Xiao had run out, and for Bosacius as well. They were having to use the old ones, which admittedly did not have much effect.
And you needed some painkillers too, because these days you have been getting severe headaches from time to time, they were temporary but they were quite strong too, and you hoped that this didn't mean anything serious. Maybe because of the last situations, the exposure to the chasm and everything else. And you hoped it was just that.
And since you had promised that you would not get into fights or risky situations, what was left for you to do was not too much trouble. After all, how could you fight without your spear? That's why you insisted on going to the harbor to make a new one. The local blacksmith was incredibly skilled at making the weapons you might need, since even the weapons Yakshas and warriors used in ancient wars are the result of a tradition passed down from generation to generation.
So in any case if an Adepti needed one, the blacksmith would do an impeccable job. And it had been a long time since you had that spear, so you would have to change it anyway. Now all you had to do was convince Xiao and Bosacius to let you go and do not only that, but also collect some materials. And you would have to do everything possible to stay out of trouble.
You waited until the sun came up, and until you heard Xiao arrive. He came quietly, as usual, but this time the main focus was not to make any noise that would bother you.
And he frowned as soon as he saw you awake, sitting up in bed.
"Did something happen?" He speaks half worried, but with a tone of doubt as well
"No, it was nothing." You assure him.
He comes over all soft and sits down next to you, looking from corner to corner to see how you were doing. He had always had this thing, that he could silently tell if you were okay or not, and now it seemed to be even stronger.
"Why are you up at this hour? It's still very early."
"I wanted to talk to you, I genuinely need to go to the harbor to take care of some things." You say sincerely and calmly, not wanting to give too much astonishment or importance to the situation, if you did he would surely be alarmed.
It sounded strange to ask for permission to leave, but in view of all that had happened and the fragile state you were in, it was only reasonable that things should be like this. Besides, you'd have to go back to work anyway, sooner or later.
He sighed heavily before glaring at you, "I'm still pretty worried. I just want your assurance that you will avoid any physical altercation." It was obvious that he would ask this of you, it was the least he could ask of you.
"Don't worry, that's what I least intend to do." You say with a slightly brighter expression, since these days had been quite stagnant.
"Fine, go. I hope you won't mind if I keep a watchful eye on you." And with that you understood that he would stay even from a distance, always watching you.
In the end it was nothing that bothered you, since Xiao always had this attitude not only with you but with others as well, he was someone you could always count on if things got rough.
"Thank you. I promise I won't be back too late." And it was so funny that you acted like that, an independent being who now asked permission to go out, and besides said that wouldn't be back late. What a turn of events.
He nodded and let you up, you weren't going to take too many things, because there wasn't much to take. What you would take with you was just a bag to carry what you needed to.
You left the inn quietly, very quietly, after all it had been a while since you had been outdoors. And feeling that breeze hitting your face gave you a good feeling, of freedom. Many said you were a free spirit, and now you could understand why, you couldn't live in prison even if you wanted to, and this way of calling you went far beyond your attitudes.
You first collected a good amount of silk flowers, since they were the closest. On the way you found some violetgrass, and picked them too. And little by little, here and there you collected what you needed, and this time you weren't in any hurry, or even less willing to go back, what you wanted most was to just hang around.
And even though the noisy port sometimes bothered you, you felt almost at home. Since you didn't come here very often, maybe you should enjoy the few times you did come. And you spotted the blacksmith as soon as you took a few steps into the harbor, sneaking among the passing groups of people.
The conversation with him was not long, you specified everything you wanted and he seemed to understand easily. After all, it was quite a job to make a weapon for someone of great importance. You even intended to stay and look at the process, at least the beginning, because it was sure to take a few days to do. But your presence seemed to make him even more nervous, so you chose not to stay. The least you wanted was to get in the man's way.
So you went for a walk in the neighborhood, not wanting to get too far away, so as not to accidentally get into trouble. At a distance you saw Morax at one of the harbor entrances, it wasn't uncommon to find him around Liyue, since he liked to do that. He was talking comfortably to another girl, Hu Tao, who was the director of the Wangsheng funeral parlor, or rather his boss.
His gaze soon turned to you, and you could see that his expression somehow became cheerful. He gave a sideways smile and made a discreet sign to you, in response you just nodded a little clumsily.
Soon the girl took another direction, she seemed to be in a hurry, and you could already imagine why the funeral parlor owner was in such a hurry. He didn't take long to approach you, just a few steps away.
"I hope the reason you are here is not bad. " He says wistfully.
It took you a while to understand that he was referring to your health, or anything else more significant.
"I just came to do a few things that were pending. No big deal, what about you?" You asked bluntly, even though he was visibly fine, you wanted to make sure.
"I really wanted to have a conversation with you about these medicines. They are incredibly amazing, I can't imagine how you get these results." He says curiously, and at the same time you could say with a certain emphasis on how incredible the things you did were.
"Sure, whenever you want. I can show you the process or even the harvesting of the objects." You answer him simply, and you feel excited to share this knowledge with someone.
"If you don't mind, we can arrange a time to talk about it, I'm on vacation for the next few days. That will give me enough time."
You answered with a low 'Okay,' and without calling him, walked to a bench over there. As soon as you sat down, you called him over, signaling him to sit on the seat next to you.
"It's contradictory the way you are sometimes, you know how to be straight with me. However, you seem a bit rustic when it comes to small interactions." And once again he was right.
You pondered and thought about an answer, but what could you say? The fact was that you were not used to such interactions, so how could you handle it well if you didn't had practice with it? It sounded a little strange but that was exactly the point.
"You know that all we were taught was to fight and survive, nothing else." It was the only plausible answer that came to your mind.
He muttered a 'Mhm' and seemed to think about how you two weren't so different. You could say with a fair amount of certainty that although Morax had a habit of interacting with humans and staying abreast of their behaviors, he could be as slow as you are on the subject.
And in that sense it was all new to you, the only affectionate bond you had was with your friends, or rather your family, who were the Yaksha. But also it was not as if you were not willing to learn if necessary, if you needed to you would definitely learn. And also, these behaviors were very appealing to you, that was undeniable.
The way humans acted was intriguing, their causes and motivations. Often the weaknesses and frailties, those feelings that change just like the seasons, perhaps even faster than the seasons themselves.
"It's understandable, you never had these experiences. The strangeness is part of the process, it happened the same to me". He stopped for a moment and looked up at the sky, you didn't understand until he continued, "At the time Guizhong managed to clarify many things for me, but later I also learned a lot from my observation."
If he were as sensitive as Guizhong he might have tried to explain it to you, too bad he wasn't.
"I imagine, she did indeed know a lot about." The mood suddenly became heavy, for you could feel the tenderness in his voice.
Tenderness mixed with sorrow, was still painful to him.
The atmosphere has changed a bit, apparently you two have lost your tempers. It was kind of hard to talk about these things, especially since you didn't know much to say.
"Why don't you come with me? I mean, if you can." You said awkwardly, trying to change the mood somehow.
He gave you a genuine smile, and his expression flickered. Possibly amazed by your sudden attitude, since it was clear that you had let your guard down with him, however slightly, but you did.
You didn't know where you could go with him, but since you called him, you could walk with him around, it wouldn't be a problem. You stood up and he followed you without expecting much, since you had no idea where to go, you decided to just walk around and admire the changes around the harbor, changes you hadn't noticed before.
"Things have changed quite a bit around here, I hadn't noticed." You say throwing out a random subject, hoping it will start a conversation. Since he was able to talk about any topic.
It was strange the way that when you were together most of the time the conversation somehow fell into a sad subject or the past, which ended up ruining the mood. And this happened precisely because you didn't know if you had many things in common now, so you ended up talking about things from the past that you both had experienced and knew well.
Things were easier before and you understood each other better, but since there was a lot of things that happened along the way, you distanced yourselves a lot. And now there was a visible truce, and with this, you were able to get along better. At least you hoped so.
Not that the hurt had gone away, but maybe after so long holding on to hatred, it got a little tiresome. It was also only fair to give him a chance after the last few events.
"Oh yes, it changed according to the traditions and the time. Until it became what it is today." And he was quite proud as he spoke, he had seen it all up close. Since it all began.
"And yet it is fit for further change. Although it is magnificent as it is now, it can always be improved. And I see that they are making good use of all my past efforts." He says as he looks at the hurried people who were walking here and there, focusing on their appointments. The harbor was always like this, bustling, cargo coming and going on those big ships, it was quite a noisy place so to speak.
And you were surprised that he referred to himself as Morax, not as mere Zhongli. Even though he doesn't have a big role now, he knew that everything was a result of previous sacrifices.
"At least it was all worth it." You say looking at him with a light smile on your face.
Even if you were not so close to humans, it was impossible not to admire them. And in the end, everything that had happened in the past was for their prosperity.
"Indeed it was." He lets out a sigh.
"Damn, I almost forgot. How did the Reuca thing turn out? I haven't heard anything about it in the last few days." You say, pulling his attention to something else.
"Don't bother, according to Baizhu things are more under control. This is due to your great help." He tells you.
And you still couldn't help but be confused, the solution hadn't come from you, but from a Fatui. And the worst thing is that until now it was working, so how did they cause the problem to be able to solve it later? Surely if they wanted to take credit they would have proudly shown that they had solved the problem, which was not the case. And that left you with even sharper instincts.
And the worst part was that Morax might not look it, but you could tell for sure that he knew something was wrong. You couldn't make medicine for humans, you could, but it would kill them the next instant. And Morax knew this detail better than anyone, after all, it was a condition that could affect him as well. You would investigate this more closely, you would go until you found a good explanation for it.
"I see, at least this one we got rid of." You say with a corner smile.
"Then, if you have time, I can take you to show you a few things. I remember you used to like to walk around these parts, if you want some company." He had noticed that you didn't know where to start, since you had called him to accompany you.
"Okay, I know it might be a bit far, but I would like to go to the Luhua Pool. Sure, if it's no trouble for you." It was a nice walk, but since it was to go to a place you liked, then this would be it.
"A very great choice, on the way I can show you the changes we will encounter on the way." And you wouldn't deny it, if there was one thing he liked to do, it was talk. He knew everything from the smallest stone, to the most majestic mountains, he knew every exact detail of everything about Liyue.
Waiting for your spear to be ready would not be very proficient, since it would take several days to be ready. And what you definitely didn't want now was to waste more days like this, just waiting for the time to pass. And also thinking that you couldn't do anything so abrupt, a light walk would be good.
He started talking by showing you some things around the harbor, even before you left, that were some quality of life improvements in the area.
"One of the routes here has been optimized, making land transport more accessible and more usable. Although most of our goods arrive here by ship, just as everything we import also makes use of ships." It wasn't what he was talking about, but how he was talking. Frankly you didn't care much about a few technical changes here and there, but you could see the gleam of joy in his eyes in every sentence.
And you were very entertained listening to him talk, the passion he had for this whole place was no joke. It was crazy to think that he could answer any and all questions about everything in Liyue, it was hard to find a topic he didn't know, almost impossible.
"So that increased trade, right? I remember we missed good opportunities because we didn't have a consistent way to do the overland travel." You didn't like the subject or even know much about it, and that was the little you remembered.
"In fact, even though our biggest advantage was shipping, having some means by land was a great deal." That might sound a little strange, but even though you didn't like the subject, you could certainly spend hours talking to Morax about it, the way he was so smooth and the propriety with which he talked about it was genuinely interesting.
In the end it was very pleasant for both parties, on the way he showed you some places to eat, or even to rest. Besides the production of certain utensils that you didn't even know had been there for so many years, you hadn't paid attention to such details.
Even though you were so far apart, your topics coincided perfectly, and you were able to make small talk without much effort, which was new to both of you.
"Sometimes I forget how beautiful this place is." You say as soon as you see Luhua's pool on the horizon, and it was not for nothing.
The crystal clear water, which made those colorful pools even more beautiful. It was like an exquisite oasis in the middle of all those mountains that were around the Luhua pool. You couldn't get enough of admiring it whenever you could, and it was a place that brought back many good memories.
And you as you always did, took off your shoes and put your feet in the water, who knows why you felt so comfortable when you did that. Carrying your shoes in your hands and walking through the water that was warm, since it was still day. And you couldn't forget the countless times that if you spent the night in these waters, it was something that relaxed you so well.
Morax just seemed to look at you with curiosity, apparently he was interested to see what your next actions would be. What you did next was sit down, it didn't matter whether your clothes would get wet or not, you just wanted to feel a little comfortable. Without much question Morax followed you, taking a seat right next to you.
"This place means a lot to you, doesn't it?" A sudden question that took you a few seconds to think about.
"This is where the Yaksha took me in." You took a deep breath before continuing, "Back in the day it was all very confusing, all you had in this place was conflict. And I felt bewildered here, I thought I was going to die."
You say remembering everything that had happened, because of stubbornness you wanted to defend the area at the time, but you were not prepared for such a thing. Even so you came, and all you found was pure chaos, people screaming in agony, bodies here and there, it was all so grotesque. It represented war at its worst.
You felt numb and vulnerable, this was the result of trying to enter a war field without any instruction, sometimes courage alone was not enough. You felt paralyzed by fear, all you could do was stare in astonishment at the whole situation.
"You have always had this pertinence. At that time I told Indarias to keep an eye on you, and she did. But since you were in danger, soon the others came to help you." Morax says almost narrating the scenario.
And that's what happened, that day you officially became part of the Yakshas, because as soon as you recovered you were able to fight bravely. Showing that you were more than capable of protecting Liyue.
"Despite everything, I am grateful that things happened that way. I don't know what would have happened if Indarias hadn't been there for me." And just talking about her gave you such a sharp pain, to think that when she needed it most you could do nothing. All you wanted most was to be able to help her, and with your effort you certainly could. You couldn't  lose hope like that, much less give up.
Most of the time Morax was staring at you, not even trying to hide it. And you knew it was because he know what you were thinking, or even how you felt.
"And I am also glad that you stayed. I know you had many opportunities to leave, but you still chose to stay." He was referring to the fact that you helped during the difficult time Liyue was going through, after all any help was welcome.
Just as everyone had a role to play, so if one of you gave up, you would be sorely missed.
"I knew my obligations, and I knew that I couldn't just leave things alone. It's a commitment I'll have for the rest of my life." It wasn't a bad feeling you carried in your voice, but perhaps something melancholy.
It was a fate that you couldn't escape, and while you had gotten used to the idea, it was still somehow overwhelming to think that it would be your duty forever to take care of Liyue.
"Still, you know that many have abandoned us long ago." Morax says more curtly this time.
"Yes, and today they are no longer here. And you know why." The reason was breach of contract, at this point it was already obvious what would happen if someone broke any contract with Morax.
And when this happened, Morax was not in the least bit reasonable.
He even answered you, but you didn't hear him. Suddenly an unholy headache came over you, and you lost all sense of everything around you because of the sudden pain. You lowered your head and held it with your hands, it was incredibly unbearable, apart from a deafening hum that you didn't even know where it came from.
Your vision blurred and everything began to spin, making you hold your head even tighter.
"Are you fine?" That was the only plausible thing you heard in the middle of it all.
You shook your head saying a yes, but it was more than clear that you were not okay in the least.
"It's okay, it's okay." You say hurriedly, lifting your head up so that you can see your trembling body.
"Does your head hurt?" Morax says with one hand hovering behind your back and the other holding your arm.
"N-no, it's gone now." You stammered, it still hurt but it was fading slightly. You still felt a strong sharp pain in your head.
It was hellish, thankfully this one at least didn't go on so long. And this reinforced the fact that you needed to take better painkillers, now you had this problem.
"What happened? Did you feel that out of nowhere?" He looked genuinely concerned, you could tell by the look of astonishment on his face.
"It felt like I was going to lose control. But it's gone now." It was maddening, an agonizing pain.
"I'll take you back. If you'll let me." He says fearfully, clearly hesitant about you.
"Yes, I think we'd better go." All confused, you say.
He helped you to your feet and kept your balance, but soon you were able to do it on your own. He and you had one thing in mind, this could be a momentary condition, or it could be the beginning of a disaster. The beginning of karmic debt, an inevitable fatality.
It would start with the pain, then it could start to drive you crazy. It was an endless suffering. A battle you could never win or escape.
"Do you think this could be-"
You interrupt him, "I don't want to think about the worst, I know my day will come and I hope it's not now." Confidence was what you wanted to have the most, but had the least.
"I can get you some painkillers if you need them. I'll remind you not to hesitate to tell me if you need anything." He says squeezing your hand gently.
"I appreciate it. I'm sorry I broke the mood." And you felt kind of bad about that, since everything was going so well.
"Don't be silly, there's no reason for you to feel that way. We can do this any other day, we're friends now, we have more than enough time for that." He said so soothingly, making you feel at ease.
"Friends, seems fair to me." You say with a little smile, it doesn't even seem like you've known each other for thousands of years.
But for a relationship that had been ended in such a drastic way, it seemed like a good start.
And all along the way Morax acted very careful, always walking slowly so he could keep up with you. Making small talk to pass the time, and once in a while he managed to get a few smiles out of you. And you were enjoying the way things were going, in the end Morax was a person who was very pleasant, in spite of all the regrets.
And it was something new, a friendly relationship like that, as he said. And you felt a little bit lighter being able to talk about certain subjects with him, besides that he was a great listener. And you loved it when he understood as well as you did about a certain subject, making the conversation flow perfectly.
In the end it was a beginning, which so far was in very good terms. And at this point it seemed only fair to give it a chance to let things go, since life had become reasonably quiet. What made it possible for your relationship to take a more peaceful course, at least it had less chance of becoming the disaster that it became.
After all, there is nothing wrong with letting things flow, since it was already going too well for a start.

"xiao?"
your voice is deafening in the quiet, shattering the peaceful silence between the two of you, yet to the last remaining yaksha it is the most pleasant sound in the world.
"yes, dove?"
moonlight filters through the open window, bringing with it a cool breeze that makes you shiver and press closer to him. though to many he is pitiful, burdened by karmic debt and carrying the weight of his past sins, you find his presence to be incredibly comforting, and his warmth now is far from unwelcome.
"are you ever... lonely?"
you hesitate to finish your question, teeth scraping your bottom lip when you bite it as if to prevent the final word from escaping. saying it out loud makes the possibility so much more real, and you're not sure if you really want to know the answer.
"..."
there is no response. xiao feels how you stiffen in his arms, muscles tensing with concern that you may have hurt his feelings or offended him by assuming the conqueror of demons experienced such trivial mortal emotions. truth be told, he is considering his answer, desiring to give you the most honest one he can, for that is what you deserve after opening your heart to someone as stained by the past as him.
"yes. and sometimes it is almost overwhelming."
xiao begins, and the melancholy blossoming in your chest at his reply is simultaneously soothed by his voice. the gentleness of his tone would probably be impossible to comprehend for those who saw him daily, as his softness was reserved for you alone, and he did not particularly care about how rough others perceived him to be.
"but..."
he falls silent once more. xiao prefers not to look at the past, but now he finds himself musing over the other yakshas and mourning their fates. though he used to be ready to welcome death with open arms, grateful for his suffering to be over, things have changed since then.
"it has become easier to bear ever since i learned to love you."
others may take xiao's words at face value and believe that he loves you only out of habit, like you were constantly by his side until he was forced to figure out how to love you. but you know better. xiao learned to love you by learning to let his walls down, that being vulnerable isn't showing weakness, that opening yourself up to the possibility of being hurt provides a fountain of opportunities and love to flow.
"i'm glad."
a smile curves your lips, and you twist in xiao's arms to press a kiss to his jawline before tucking your head into the crook of his neck once more. the stars dance across the blanket of the midnight sky outside, twinkling effortlessly, burning themselves up to give beauty to the darkness, and you are here, safe with your lover.
"i love you, xiao."
perhaps in the grand scheme of the universe the two of you are insignificant, but for now that matters not in the slightest, because:
"and i love you too, dove."

b.ecause of you —
Tumblr media
-> notes : am I really writing a genshin impact fanfiction knowing only atoms of lore because i desperately need more yaksha content ? yeah. don't judge me.
-> characters : indarias [ pyro yaksha ] , bonanus [ hydro yaksha ] , menogias [ geo yaksha ] , bosacius [ electro yaksha ] , xiao , gn!reader
-> disclaimers : i don't know jack about the lore. unproofreaded. the four yaksha's personalities are all my depictions. xiao is probably extremely out of character.
-> synopsis : no one knows how the four yakshas had suddenly crawled out of their graves, not even them ! it just happened, so it happened. now, the yakshas are more focused on reuniting with their beloved alatus. however, they would not mind meeting you either.
Tumblr media
vigilant yaksha, xiao, conqueror of demons — alatus went by many names, of which he accepted as part of himself gracefully.
however, he wasn't ready for the names you had bestowed upon him- sweetheart, darling, dear, beloved. he knew he was in for a lot of surprises, having entered a relationship with a mortal and all - but still ! everytime you called him terms of endearments, he'd blink, blink, blink for like, another ten times- and then he'd just be visibly blushing while brushing it off. internally , he was melting.
archons, was he weak for you.
when he overdid it, when his karmic debt was too much, when he laid in sorrow because of his fallen comrades- no, his family. you were there, to press your forehead against his, to kiss his tears (that he likely did not know were tears) away, to just be there for him. because of that, was he weak for you.
of course, with how close you two are- lovers, and all, comes stories of what xiao's past was like. stories of the cataclysm, the amount of slaughter, the amount of suffering he and his family went through-
his family.
he told you stories about his family the most.
xiao didn't know how this was possible.
indarias , bonanus , bosacius , menogias , you know of them all. though they've long since passed, you knew if they were to still be fighting along xiao, or - alatus, you'd love them like family.
Tumblr media
how could it have been that out of nowhere, his dearest brothers and sisters had suddenly all come back to life and now stood infront of him with the brightest grins on their faces?
impossible. undeniably impossible.
yet here he was, shock reasonably etched into his face. not even a moment passed as tears ran down that same face as he remained unmoving.
admittedly, even his family was surprised- consumed by utter happiness, yes, but also surprised.
indarias was the first to speak.
" it's been quite a while, dear alatus. " her tone was unrealistically calm, her voice just as melodic and comforting as the last time xiao had heard it. how could one stay so calm after just being revived from the dead minutes ago? even the vigilant yaksha did not know.
xiao replied , his tone unsure and his voice shaky — "so it has. " bonanus quickly interjected, "are we not supposed to be dead ?! why are you all so calm ?! how are we alive !?" she looked around frantically, her eyes finally meeting xiao's, the aforementioned still in place.
zooming forward and wrapping her arms around him, holding him tightly - like she'd never let him go. it's obvious the hydro yaksha was getting emotional, from how she sniffled and sucked back the tears that threated to pour out. " oh, alatus ! how I've, how we've , missed you! " she cried, pulling back from the hug as she peppered him with questions like " how have you been ? where have you been staying ? have all demons been vanquished ? how is morax ? " yet of course, she was stopped by a more masculine voice coming in.
" bonanus , alatus is visibly shaken right about now - shall we give him time to process this as we process it ourselves ? " menogias stated, his tone even. the bonanus in question pouted, but relented and patted alatus' head before giving him space.
sooner or later, xiao had processed it all - and was filled with nothing but happiness. before rejoicing and having a proper reunion with his allies, no, his family- he noticed something.
bosacius had seemed awfully quiet and xiao had known why – so, he placed a hand on bosacius' back reassuringly, murmuring words loud enough for his dear brother to hear.
" it's all in the past. you can let go of it now, because - it is a day of celebration and joy. "
bosacius smiled, and he smiled back. xiao then turned to the others, all looking at him expectantly- and his smile grew wider.
"I am glad to have reunited with you once again, my brothers and sisters - I know nothing about how your revivals had come to be, but what does it matter ? you are here, and I couldn't have been more happier."
they all cheered, and alatus had notified you of him being gone for a while, how long he didn't know- the reason you weren't told, a clumsy mistake of his admittedly! he'd forgot to mention that his sworn siblings had come back from the dead.
he dedicated that while to educating his family of the modern world, updating them, introducing them to modern day objects, all that jazz. he answered all the questions he could with no hesitation, and basked in being able to see their smiles again.
he loves them. he will continue to, they are his family after all - but one person is missing.
you. the moment it crossed his mind that you had not met eachother yet, nor had he even told his siblings about you, he mentioned your name immediately- earning mixed ( positive ) reactions from the yakshas.
" .. a lover? a lover ! alatus , my dear , we must meet them at once ! any one who earns your heart must be worth respect , after all ! "
" so you've found yourself the other half of your soul ? ... I am glad. now , where might they be ? we must meet them. either way , from the way you talk about them so lovingly.. it seems I'm starting to care for them aswell. "
" I'm happy for you, alatus. truly, I am. but don't run off before you can even introduce us, you know ? this y/n you speak of seems extraordinarily kind. "
" they seem like the type of person you'd fall for , indeed ! I, bosacius, humbly ask that you introduce us immediately ! they are to be family, after all ! part of our family, perhaps we could even be aunts and uncles ! "
y/n came face to face with xiao, just their xiao, and the world seemed to slow. they did not notice the others next to him, all they could focus on was - was xiao.
so introduce you, alatus did.
Tumblr media
xiao almost fell from the sheer force of the hug, except he catched himself.
" you're back ! ive missed you so much !"
" indeed I am. I have missed you too, y/n. "
you let out a chuckle, but you froze when you heard quiet laughter. you released xiao, and what do you know -
" xiao how are they alive- "
" i happen to know just as much as you do, y/n. "
of course, having just seen people you presumed to be dead - you were left to process as the five yakshas engaged in small talk.
having sat them all down as they all got to know you, xiao didn't even try to join in. all he could focus on was how you laughed at bosacius' jokes, how you immediately got pulled into bonanus and indarias' little duo [ now trio ] , how you made menogias crack smiles once in a while , how you watched as menogias and bosacius bickered , how you watched as indarias and bonanus made inside jokes, how you all just clicked. like that. like it was nothing.
" oh, archons. " you breathed out , finally realizing that they were truly living, they were truly back, and now - your life had just been improved.
Tumblr media
" — you see , menogias has tried and failed at getting me to wear shirts , and yet he still pushes it, even after it's been well over five hundred years ! "
" atlesst try to have some class , bosacius. "
to that, bosacius fired back with a statement that caused yet another roar of laughter amongst all of you - well, except xiao. he was too focused on watching you laugh.
" how about you , 'xiao'? you've been staring at your darling for the whole time we've been here!" menogias teased, trying to steer away from how he had practically had just been humiliated.
all of you looked towards him, and it was proven that yes- he had been looking at you. you couldn't help but feel a bit flustered - was that why he had not been talking so much ? because he was distracted by you ? how could you have not noticed ?
xiao, however, did not seem to care. like, at all. If anything, the rest of his fellow yakshas looks softened at the sight of their alatus so inlove. love. something they talked about so longingly. they were happy he had found it.
he smiled. " yes, it seems I've been too focused on my y/n today. alas, can you blame me? "
the four yakshas exchanged looks, to which they all agreed, beaming.
" no, we cannot. y/n is as pleasant as you depict them to be. "
" not at all ! y/n is incredibly friendly ! "
" you and y/n are perfect for eachother, it is evident. "
" nope, we can't blame ya ! y/n is a s'heart ! still don't know how they fell for you, of all people ! "
later that day , the four yakshas all pulled you aside for a private conversation , of course - you were nervous. what could ever be in store for you ? a shovel talk ? or even worse, a visual representation of what would happen instead of the shovel talk ?!
touched by their sudden compliments, your hands were waving around as you tried to utter out your gratitude. by the way they smiled at you, by the way xiao looked at you so fondly, you could tell they got the message.
Tumblr media
thankfully , indarias calmed you down before you could even voice your concerns. so you waited patiently for them to speak, telling them to take their time.
what was firstly said left you confused.
" thank you. " indarias started. you were confused and it was visible, so bonanus continued. " for loving alatus- or, whatever he calls himself these days- xiao, yes, yes, xiao! "
before you could even speak, bosacius had taken the spotlight. " the wee lad may not seem like it to you, but to us- it's clear ! you've improved his life, for sure ! made it worth a damn ! - "
menogias butted in. " made him happier, that's what bosacius meant. because of you, he's learned to not be afraid to open his heart. "
" we can't thank you enough for that, y/n. "
" - but.. we can promise you a place in our hearts aswell, for you are special to alatus, meaning you are special to us. "
you smiled, again, you lost count of how many times you'd smiled today. but you smiled. they did too, actually.
family.
please note i am literally writing this at three in the morning so excuse me if i ever make mistakes thank u don't steal ill actually cry 👍

Oneshot - Genshin Impact [Lover's Oath]
Game: Genshin Impact
Title: Lover's Oath
Pairing: Xiao X GN! Yaksha Reader
Word Count: +2.1K
Warning(s): Blood, injuries
2.7 end cutscene inspired me because I fell in even more love with Xiao :,) I didn't think it was possible but here we are.
If you enjoyed my work and want to look for more, here is my masterlist. Or you could request here from any of these shows!
Tumblr media
Your cries of pain were drowned out by the heavy rain pouring down from the dark sky, as you lay in the grass now soaked with your blood. Your lifeless eyes began to shut, at last, after what felt like aeons of suffering.
"Xiao, have you ever wondered what it would be like to finally be rid of the Karma we carry?"
"Why would you ask such a needless question?" He'd replied after a moment of thought. "We lay our lives to protect the people of Liyue, and that is where it ends. We can never feel what it is like to live without the burden of our sins." He looked up at the setting sun as he stood against the railing of the terrace at Wangshuu Inn. Your shallow, heartbreaking smile didn't go unnoticed by the other Yaksha, for he looked at you from the corner of his eyes.
"Is that so?"
The memory flashed in your mind as your eyes shut, a painless expression taking over. "I suppose, I shall find out what awaits me," You tried to speak as you coughed out the remaining blood in your mouth.
"If only... I could look at you," You tilted your head to the side as your breathing became shallow, and continued, "One last time." You let the sounds of the droplets falling against the surface lull you to an awaiting endless sleep. You knew, all it would take would be one word, just one, for him to come to your rescue. All you had to do was call out his name, but it seemed so difficult. You did not want him to see you go like this. It was too painful of a thought for you.
"...Y/N!" You heard a voice calling out to you, and you wanted to turn to see who had suddenly heard your silent prayers. No matter how curious you were, your eyes refused to open up again and your hearing was far too gone to identify the owner of the voice through the thundering rain. You let the drops wash you away as you lost your consciousness.
You would finally rid yourself of this Karma.
At least, you thought you would have, until your eyes opened once more to the dim light of the moon shining through the window. The way it lit your room was almost enough to make you think you had entered the afterlife. But the pain in your abdomen brought you back to reality and you lifted your shirt to see bandages covering your torso.
You looked where your wound had been and lifted your arm to run a gentle hand across it. A sigh left your lips as you got up from the bed and tucked your shirt back in properly. After the traveller had opened up the gateway to the underground chasm, multiple monsters had grown restless and began chasing after the entrance. To make sure no mortals were injured inside the Chasm, you had been fighting off the dangers until a bullet pierced through your stomach.
A yell caught up in your throat as you kneeled, feeling a burning sensation spreading through the wound. Too focused on the monsters, you hadn't noticed a Fatui Pyroslinger standing atop a hill nearby. You looked to see him turning away and teleported to his location, slashing him with your elemental attack before he could run away.
You kept your hand against the gaping hole in your stomach as the burn from the bullet's pyro infusion spread continuously through your body.
"Y/N," You snapped out of your memories when you heard your name and saw Verr Goldet standing at the door to your room. She entered and placed a gentle hand on your shoulder. "How are you feeling?"
"Verr, what happened? I wasn't supposed to be here." She sighed and removed her hand before staring out the window.
"Xiao would be quite angry if he heard you say that. Well, not that he's not already angry." You furrowed your eyebrows at the statement, urging her to continue explaining. "He... found you near the Chasm and took you to Liyue Harbor so Zhongli and Baizhu could help him. As far as I am aware, he went back after bringing you here to collect necessary medication."
"He did all of that?"
"Is that really surprising?" She tilted her head with a small smile as you closed your eyes.
"I need to go and meet him. He didn't deserve to see me in that state, after everything he's been through." You began walking past her when she spoke up again.
"Let him be, for now. He will want you to rest rather than go out once more. You can talk once he's back." Contemplating her reasoning, you nodded your head and continued walking.
"I'll be on the terrace, then." You walked up the staircase slowly and reached the top floor of the Inn. The breeze felt much better with the open surroundings as you walked further and leaned against the railing. The wind rustled your hair ever so slightly and you tucked a few stray strands away from your eyesight.
Your gaze fell to the ground beneath and you stared at guests at the Inn taking strolls along the river. "How am I supposed to protect these people when I can't even control myself?" You looked at your hand as you remembered how you had almost lost control due to your overwhelming karma after being attacked. To not cause casualties, you had to let yourself bleed out so you would have no power left to even move.
"I had no choice," You whispered, trying to convince yourself that it was the best possible decision. You clenched your fist and placed your knuckles against your forehead as a frown took a place on your face.
"Y/N!" The voice cut sharply through the silence, and you looked behind to see Xiao rushing over to you. Before you could say anything, he grabbed your face and pulled you closer to him. "What the hell were you thinking?! Did you lose your mind to attempt such a stunt?!" His voice was hoarse with anger and frustration as he glared at you.
"Xiao, I-" You tried to reason with him, but you had no argument against him. He was right: as an Adeptus, as a Yaksha, you should have been able to handle the situation much better. When you went silent, Xiao exhaled heavily but let go of you, stepping back to give you some space.
"Why didn't you call out for me?" He looked at the ground as he asked, not wanting to see your sorrowful expression any longer.
"I didn't want you to see me in that state." You answered truthfully and looked up to see his reaction. His head snapped to look you in the eyes.
"'To see you in that state'?! Is that what you were worried about?! What about our oath to protect one another? Or did you think it was made simply for reassurance?" His eyes raged like you had never seen before. "If I had been even a minute late, I would have lost you."
"Xiao, you have been through so much. For you to see me like that would have been too cruel." Your vision blurred as tears began welling up in your eyes. His eyes widened as he looked at you in confusion.
"And me finding you dead, when I could have done something about it wouldn't have been? All these centuries together, just for you to be ready to leave like that?" He asked, a lot calmer this time, as he stepped closer. "Y/N, we didn't take that oath so you could forget about it when you saw fit." You could hear the hurt in his voice as it strained the more he spoke.
"I know." Feeling guilty for your actions, you stared at your feet. You felt his hands cupping your cheeks and lifting your head to look back at him. Surprised at his actions, your eyes widened.
"I can't lose you too. So, please, call out my name when you find yourself in trouble- and I shall do the same." You nodded right away and placed your hands on his, feeling the warmth you never thought you would receive.
"I promise." You whispered as you stared at him.
"Good, because just thinking about what could have happened- I," He stopped himself from speaking further and looked away.
"But I'm here now because of you. I'm right in front of you." You attempted to gaze into his eyes, but he continued to stare beneath, at both of your feet. You wanted to see the beautiful shine of his golden irises again. "Xiao, look at me," you whispered in desperation, and he lifted his head up with hesitation. Your hands moved away from his and cupped his cheeks in return.
"I'm right here," You reassured him once more, your voice becoming softer by the second.
"Then, continue to stay by my side, as you always have," He pleaded, and you pressed your forehead against his.
"I will," You whispered as your thumbs caressed the sides of his face as you stared back into his hurtful eyes.
"I don't want to lose you,"
"You won't," You replied without waiting. "I was wrong to not call for you, but I know now. I will never leave you again." You cherished each other's presence as silence fell upon you, your foreheads still against the other. The gentle whistle of the wind brought forth a lovely tune, as if to serenade the two of you underneath the night sky.
"Xiao, can I kiss you?" You muttered, at last, not wanting to hold the question back anymore. You could see the shock take over his face as he stared at you as if to see if you were lying. Once he saw the look in your eyes, however, you could feel him relax in your hold. He simply nodded and closed his eyes, waiting for you to take initiative.
At that moment, it only felt right when you leaned forward and pressed your lips against his. You heard Xiao release a sharp breath through his nose before you felt his hand slide across your cheek and through your hair. His reciprocation urged you to get even closer and wrap your arms around his neck, so you did, while he wrapped his free arm around your waist.
All you needed was this moment to feel everything Xiao had to give you, and you wanted to give him your all in return. As his lips pressed further against yours, you felt him push you slightly against the railing, so you leaned back on it and let yourself be entranced by him.
"Y/N," he whispered between your kisses as his breathing grew heavy, but he'd rather continue feeling you against him than worry for air. Neither of you were ready to let go, afraid the other might disappear. So, you clung to one another in desperation, pulling at each other's clothes to get as close as possible.
Once you both opened your eyes and found yourselves looking at each other, all else faded away. There was only him, and there was only you. You felt tears prick your eyes once you saw his intense gaze on you, lost in the heat of the moment. So, you closed yours and leaned your forehead against his shoulder.
"Don't hide away from me now: I want to see all of you," he hummed and stroked your hair, his fingers as gentle as possible.
"How can you say such things without so much as a flinch?" You laughed through your tears and tightened your arms around him.
"Because I now know what I've been doing wrong. Let me correct it." He took a deep breath before continuing, "And I want you to look at me once more." Startled by his sudden directness, you looked up as he met your gaze right away. "Look only at me," He whispered before cupping your cheek and kissing you. A sigh left your lips as you closed your eyes, relishing the moment for as long as possible.
Your hands slid into his hair and softly stroked his locks as they brushed past them. The gentle and hesitant feeling of Xiao's lips melted away the longer he kissed you, instead, becoming desperate for more of your touch. "Don't leave me again," he begged, not letting you answer back as his lips were on yours again. You both knew there was nothing else to be said: the answer was obvious.
You had destroyed the walls between the both of you by kissing him first, and now none of you wanted this to end. It was clear in the way you called out each other's names, the way you conveyed your feelings without saying anything: an unspoken oath.
Your lover's oath.
