Are there any worlds or Disney stories that you would have liked to see in Dark Road? Or any headcanons for worlds Xehanort went to (after the main story)?
I think Castle of Dreams would have been a really great world for a Vor and Vidar side-story.
Why Castle of Dreams? For one, all the Disney worlds in KHDR are reused from KHUX. Realistically, that's the only pool you can draw from when thinking about Disney worlds that "could have been", because otherwise the artists on the game would've had to make completely new assets and, well, KHDR is pretty much KHUX Reused Assets: The Video Game. All the KHUX Disney worlds not featured in KHDR would work fine in the game apart from Wreck-it-Ralph since it's a special world.
Actually, I just realized Castle of Dreams is the only non-WiR Disney world from KHUX that didn't make it into KHDR. So I guess Castle of Dreams is the only reasonable choice, lol.
Two, I feel like Castle of Dreams would work well thematically with Vor and Vidar in a variety of ways. Though I don't know if I'll ever finish that fic with them I wanted to make (probably not), perhaps I'll try to create short comics of some small moments I had in mind for them instead. I can better talk about and illustrate my ideas for this world then.
As for Xehanort post-KHDR, I'd probably be more willing to draw from non-KHUX worlds since KHDR doesn't really cover that time period much, anyway. I can just imagine this theoretical KHDR sequel in my mind that doesn't rely so heavily on reused assets. Xehanort's conversation with the MoM suggests that he must've seen some pretty messed up stuff involving darkness on his "world tour", so I'd probably go for Disney properties that are like...a bit darker or more tragic than Disney's usual fare? Stuff that you'd look at and go, "Yeah, makes sense why Xehanort ended up like this."
The question then becomes, what properties? Maybe stuff like:
Bambi: Xehanort's relationship (or lack thereof) to his mother could make witnessing Bambi's mother die to hunters be pretty upsetting. Much like Xehanort, Bambi was also the descendant of a noble bloodline and was expected to do great things when he was older.
The Fox and the Hound: Involves two unlikely friends becoming each other's enemies because of who they are and what they're expected to be, so that could remind him of his relationship with Eraqus, and make him question what the future has in store for them (and Xehanort does call Eraqus a "sly fox" on multiple ocassions).
Hunchback of Notre Dame: We've only ever seen it as a Sleeping World, so we have no idea when exactly the movie's plot occurs during the course of the Kingdom Hearts series. There are plenty of comparisons to draw between Xehanort and Quasi: tragically separated from their mother, raised by someone else, forced to live in isolation away from people and the greater world, has "imaginary" friends, desires freedom, is made to feel like an outcast, etc. Quasi could make Xehanort reflect on his childhood in Destiny Islands and Scala, but in a far more negative light that ends up tainting his perception of it.
Thanks for the interesting question, Starlight!

Translation of two magazine spreads
“Revenge to You” is an illustration with some description while “Love, Hate” is an interview with Sakurai and Matsukaze.
I have been dying to read them for a while now and I finally found ones that are high enough quality to read. Also I was desperate enough. I wasn’t able to find any translations online, so I’m assuming there aren’t any. My Japanese is kind of terrible so any corrections are welcome. Enjoy!
Image source is @/ydotome thank you for the scans!

Revenge to You
Gaelio Bauduin
Taking off his mask, he returns to the battlefield. To vanquish McGillis, he stands up before (McGillis’s) ambition.
McGillis Fareed
With the [unintelligible] Gundam Bael at his hand, he lights the fire that signifies revolution. But destiny has more trials awaiting him.
Text on the right:
Despairing betrayal and farewell to his dearest friend. Even ideals called “revolution” cloud before such hopelessness. The man who fell suddenly into the depths of dejection borrows the name of “Vidar” who continues the bloodline of the god of war and giants, and rises to his feet again. In his chest is not hate, nor justice. Only the anger to completely reject all of McGillis’s actions. The scar carved deep inside the mask is a reminder to himself that he failed to protect those important to him. With thoughts of all that he has lost in his heart, Gaelio returns to the battlefield again.
Tumblr media
Love, Hate
With love for a “friend” and hate for a “traitor”, and the unrelenting desire to pursue ambition, what are the two who have become nemeses thinking as they oppose each other?
Finally removing Vidar’s mask, showing his wounded bare face. What sort of determination did Gaelio have then?
McGillis Fareed/Sakurai Takahiro
[Not translating the actor bios because 1) too blurry 2) I don’t care about Sakurai]
With acquiring Gundam Bael, the world should’ve bowed down before him. Although he is driven into a corner by Rustal and Gaelio, he isn’t giving up just yet.
Gaelio Bauduin/Matsukaze Masaya
He concealed himself as Vidar to witness McGillis’s “true intentions”. Now he stands coldly in front of his past “best friend”.
Things heat up as all kinds of viewpoints and emotions mix
[Really could not read the question on this one. Sorry]
Matsukaze: I’ve been so excited ever since then!
Sakurai: Especially Gaelio.
Matsukaze: That’s because I loved the audition, and when I talked about “[unintelligible]” with Mr. Sakurai (and other members), I never thought I’d get a role like this. Of course, I never thought that I would be betrayed and get beaten up by McGillis, or that I would reappear wearing a mask.
Sakurai: It was rather confusing to begin with, I’d always looked up to the Gundam franchise, so at the start I was excited like a child about details like “can I pilot a Gundam?” or “will I wear a mask?” But now that feeling’s almost entirely gone…
Matsukaze: Now things like getting in a Gundam or not for us, is [unintelligible]. Gundams have a lot of screentime, so wouldn’t we worry about dying? Something like that (laughs). Meaning now it feels unbelievable, as an audience and as an actor, and the subjectivity of [unintelligible], lots of different point-of-views are mixed together.
Sakurai: Not only that, but isn’t the show too powerful? Even when dubbing it for real, with all the actors together, a lot of things are mixed together and hard to separate, so I feel what it’s like to struggle with acting for once. But then I felt everyone’s determination and focus, and the atmosphere that a lot relied on finishing the project.
Matsukaze: And of course, “death” really grips your heartstrings. Because “death” is “[unintelligible]”, although “acting a character that dies” is hard, it’s the people around that really make you feel the impact of “death”.
Sakurai: Yeah, you’re right.
Matsukaze: For actors that act as a dying character, of course you’d shout and yell at the moment of death, but it’s impossible to do that after death. It’s the people around that have to bear the emotional fallout of that death. I’ve talked about it with Mr. Kawanishi (Kengo) [Mikazuki’s VA] and Mr. Hosoya (Yoshimasa) [Orga’s VA]. For the deaths of other people, whether it be Carta or Ein, the feeling of those who haven’t died…
Sakurai: He’s bearing all that, Gaelio is.
Matsukaze: It’s so painful! (Laughs bitterly) And although the ending of Season 1 was rushed, as the role of a “rival” that can’t win or lose, I thought it was “[unintelligible]”. If I won I’d overact, and I’m bad at acting the loser, so it wouldn’t work either way…Looking back it was really hard, because the rival is too strong, and the story and drama are so powerful, I was really conflicted about what sort of acting would be fitting.
McGillis and Gaelio’s “reunion”
In episode 43 McGillis’s past is revealed, and his objective becomes clear. And then Vidar - Gaelio took off his mask. It was a turning point for the two.
Sakurai: Announcing the ambition he’d never told anyone about all at once, and then piloting Bael, McGillis had revealed all the cards in his hand, so now all he can do is head towards his goal no matter what.
What did it feel like for McGillis to face Gaelio again?
[This whole next paragraph is very blurry. I am as frustrated as you are]
Sakurai: About that, it’s like getting to the other side of a mist [?], and it’s a straightforward impression. McGillis already has the attitude of “getting[?] everything”, but he shows an ambiguous expression unable to say anything, was he surprised? And [unintelligible] feelings, it’s like, not [unintelligible], but it’s a bit of a [unintelligible] reaction. As I thought, when it comes to things about Gaelio, there might be something unlike with anyone else.
And Gaelio also said that he thought that the McGillis of the past “took off his mask in front of him only”.
Matsukaze: Well, I might be biased because I’m acting as Gaelio [?] (laughs). It might have just been an instant, but I think that instant surely existed. Which is why Gaelio probably also read Agnika Kaieru’s works at least once…he probably didn’t read them very closely, though (laughs).
Sakurai: Hahaha (laughs).
Matsukaze: He definitely asked “what are you reading?” Judging from Gaelio’s personality, if McGillis had the same interests with Gaelio or Carta, he wouldn’t have just used them but worked together with them, is what I think. McGillis who crawled up from the depths and Gaelio who was born into and grew up in a privileged family, they see different worlds.
When Mr. Matsukaze acted as Vidar, did you proceed as if it were Gaelio, or did you change it into something a little like a remake?
Matsukaze: When I heard he hadn’t actually died, but was going to reappear wearing a mask, I asked Director Nagai (Tatsuyuki) “to put it simply, did he become a ghost of revenge?” And then, it wasn’t quite like that, but he was still Gaelio as a human. So for myself personally, being betrayed by your best friend and tossed aside by your childhood friend [osananajimi], after experiencing these emotions he can’t control, changes of that level, and people he talks to changes, for example he talks differently with Rustal to some degree, but the baseline is that I still acted as Gaelio.
The moment of conclusion is approaching…?!
In episodes 45 and 46, there were the direct fights between Gundams.
Matsukaze: For me, it was really interesting that Isurugi was also there in between. It was just like how it was with Carta. Even though the source of the conflict is McGillis, he has to persuade Carta and Isurugi first. Because this is the second time…For Gaelio, there is a theme where he instantly becomes furious. Like “See? You’re being deceived by McGillis!!” (laughs)
Sakurai: Like “Again?!” (laughs)
Matsukaze: I acted like I was an Osaka mom, and it passed on the first take.
[Note: apparently Osaka moms are known for being bossy and yelling at their kids or something.]
Sakurai: (Laughs) But because McGillis is McGillis [?], I do think Isurugi’s last words did hurt a lot for him.
Matsukaze: But McGillis is the kind of person to do it by himself in the worst case scenario. He hasn’t changed from when he was a child and hit someone with a chair.
Sakurai: McGillis has no expectations for anyone. I feel that strongly.
Matsukaze: Even Agnika Kaieru, whom he was so infatuated with, seems to have done everything on his own. Something like “Agnika Kaieru’s three musketeers” probably never existed (laughs).
Sakurai: Right (laughs). He just projects himself onto Agnika, and he’s dedicated to his ambition about power. What an unbalanced guy. If he was cleverer he might have been able to find a different way, with more time, there could have been a more cautious way…
Then what sort of drama will the two have from now on?
Sakurai: I think McGillis and Gaelio will arrive at a final outcome soon. If not, there is no meaning for Gaelio to live for. A reconciliation like “Gaelio, I was wrong!” or “I…forgive McGillis!” probably won’t happen…
Matsukaze: Yeah…(laughs bitterly)
Sakurai: It’s certain that there’s going to be some sort of resolution, but what will it be?
Matsukaze: No matter what, McGillis will be McGillis, and Gaelio will be Gaelio, and they’ll both act out their wills. I think it’s important that they do what they want to [?]. Which is to say, that’s where it’s very “Gundam-like”. All sorts of reasons to fight, important things, there’s things you want to protect, and the conflict that arises from these differences. Not just us but Tekkadan as well, everyone with completely different positions are trying to carry it out.
Sakurai: Yes, once I became aware of this structure, it became a whole lot more interesting. For the inner conflict of Gjallarhorn, that survived the history of the universe, Tekkadan is a very small organization, but their rebellion has connected McGillis and Tekkadan deeply. For example, Shino’s death might just be “the death of one soldier”, but he is one of the mental supports of Tekkadan, so he actually changed the battle at least a little bit…it might be a grown-up way of seeing it, but I think knowing that made the drama much more interesting.

Alex and Sam are really lucky to have you for a godly parent. It’s good to know there’s at least one god in some pantheon that can be a proper parent (refer to my father Apollo, why he is currently and forever banned from Camp Half-Blood, and how half of Apollo cabin is currently trying to find another god who’ll adopt them)
Because, Zeus above, most gods DO NOT HAVE THEIR SH*T TOGETHER.
So thank you for being sane, even if one day you are going to cause the end of the world as we know it.
—Kat Carter, @cabinseventheaterchick
Why, thank you.
I'm going to aid and abet in the destruction of the world, but then Gimli, the new world, will form. Magni, Modi, Vidar, Vali, Lif, Lifthrasir, Baldur, Hod, and a surprising amount of survivors will inhabit the new world. Baldur and Hod will reconcile. There will be no masters or kings there. They will all be equal. Doesn't sound bad, does it?
BTW: Hel is always adopting. Her spouses, Baldur and Nanna, are sad they only had one child and dead people can't have biological children, so... I know Hel is kind of like the opposite of Apollo, but you get:
horses and goats as your patron god's animal, along with ravens and owls.
immunity to plagues
some get the ability to summon the hands of skeletal and rotting bodies to drag your enemies to Helheim, and ocassionally get to summon draugr
A brother named Krampus, and a sister named Mudgudr. They're both really chill once you get to know them.
Adoption actually has some perks in the Norse pantheon, we don't really care about being blood-related.

So whatcha think of that khdr ending 👀
Okay, beware everybody SPOILERS TIME.
Tumblr media
Ngl I expected the worst sooo the ending was fine to me! I expected everyone to die except our chessboys but maybe not that ruthlessly. Thanks gods there was this long waiting so my heart was in peace. I don’t think I’d have been that calm if they had released the chapter one by one like before fjgkfkf
Baldr was no a surprise too. How a clingy baby boy like him could have coped so easily the lost of his sister? Nice move Darkness!
I’m happy that Nomura says that he want to tell more about the upperclassmen in another media ‘cause…
Tumblr media
THEY ALL PERFECT. WE SEE SO FEW OF THEM BUT I LOVE THEM VERY MUCH AAAA
ESPECIALLY YOU HELGI.
Tumblr media
Do you sense that strong himbo energy? AH! DELICIOUS.
Very fond of Claude Vidar too. The Pre-Xehanort! Heart too soft to go this far for summoning Kingdom Hearts, you tried babe! So, that’s why he shares some features with Xehanort? Dark skin, almost gold eyes…? Eh. [shrug]
I’m glad we know who was the mysterious dude on DI, raising a child by their own one a tiny island (btw, didn’t DI has MAIN ISLANDS? I know “to protect from Darkness“ blabla but srly? It’s a PLAYGROUND FOR KIDS. So then -gasp- the caban and so on were their doing and not Sora and co… omg it gonna be meta again. We built OUR PLAYGROUND) buuuut I’m also a bit disappointed haha I liked the “WE WERE XEHANORT ALL ALONG“ thing 8D
Tumblr media
Thinking that I was joking about that very page in the Ultimania book back then “aww what a nice family portrait!” L O L Thanks Nomura for the hint. Now, BRING US MORE ABOUT ERAQUS TOO. He’s like what he says: There’s more to light than meets the eye. I knooooow iiiiiit.
Pretty sad about Xehanort hearing “you’re the Child of the Destiny“ “you’re the Chosen One“ to realize that no, you’re not, it’s Sora the Chosen One. And thus, bequeath the X-blade to him at the end of KH3. You’ve followed the dark road sweety, thinking it would be the only way. Maybe you could have been that Child following the other way… Like Anakin and Luke. The father failed but the son succeeded. The son was the real hope. …father and son… [shakes her head to get the idea out of her brain]
AND WHAT ABOUT THE HAIR?
Tumblr media
Well, headcanon the Dark road made him bald still lives for me but with the help of a razor LOL What a dramaking.
Tumblr media
That sadness in Eraqus’ eyes [fist clinched] The sadness of a man knowing what he must do. No one can stop me thinking that he’s somehow worst than Xehanort cause he trained and sacrificed his apprentices to stop his ex-husband. The true Champion of Light. Who can make sacrifice for the commun good. Speaking of Light…
POINT FOR VANITAS. It struck me back then after my second or third run of KH3 which coincided with the end of KHUX. When you defeat Vanitas he does this gloomy talk about I’m Darkness blabla yeah yeah I get it poor little emo meow meow. But he IS LITERALLY DARKNESS. Then, Xehanort truly saved Ventus by draging out them of Ventus’ heart to defeat him without hurting Ven (well he tried at least thus giving him to Eraqus to heal him) cause… he’s one of the friends he used to dream about.
Tumblr media
Could Sora be able to do that with the Lost Masters too? To save them and annihilate the Darkness at the same time? We all know he will do that.
OMG I ALMOST FORGOT THE RAT.
Well. I knew it. Damn you Luxu LOL
Ok, one last question remains… If we break the Internet, will the 4 trapped Darkness release? _(:3 」∠)_

TELL ME ABOUT DEATHBRINGERS!!!!<3<3<3<3!! how are there no stars???? what's the giant fucked up wall (or gate? you've mentioned it b4 but I forgor) ??? what role do ur characters play in the Things That Are Happening, or do they live in the aftermath? I fuckign love hearing about deathbringers it is so cool
TEEHEE ^-^ (thank u sm for asking i'm about to type an ungodly amount im sorry)
So about the stars >=) there is a sun and people in the world Assume there May Have Been more like it in the past!! But the sun is to their world what one random dragon would be to us, really; it's there, and no one can deny Its Nature, but people are a bit confounded or skeptical about it. The absence of light at night has largely been blamed on vampires as something they achieved (incorrect, though they do benefit from only having one sun-source to worry about). But there's no more proof for that theory than there is the concept other stars ever existed at all :3
What actually happened doesn't have any definitive documentation in canon anymore!! It was all intentionally destroyed by the involved parties and the main characters never fully learn the big picture <3 but essentially. An extremely long time ago and far beyond living memory, some particularly ambitious individuals decided to Bring Down and Swallow stars for their power ^_^ the resulting conflict was apocalyptic but ultimately the stars lost, and so there are no stars anymore =) unless
---
The giant fucked up wall could refer to three things and I'm insane so I will tell u abt them all ^-^
The titular City of Gears has many a fucked up wall !! It was built into a mountain and meant to be a sanctuary for vampires, away from the sun. But the original architect wanted to ensure the vampires were safe from even the most immortal threats (teehee!!), so he designed the city as a labyrinth with hundreds of walls that could rotate, appear and disappear, and raise and lower; this on top of stationary walls, as well. The idea was that the labyrinth's pattern would never be the same twice and change once a month, thus making it impossible for an immortal threat to spend centuries memorizing the city's layout for an attack.
Blynnfell's Crown isn't necessarily fucked up and crazy insane like the City of Gears' rotating labyrinth but it is Different !! Blynnfell is the capital of the country and sits on the southeast coast, sort of boxed in by the continental-long Blackcrest River and the sea ^-^ it's surrounded by enormous and thick as hell jagged shards of stoneglass (in our world we call it alexandrite). Its primary purpose is to absorb light reflecting off the ocean + manage the city's light pollution, but it's almost as hard as diamond, so it makes for excellent defense as well. The city is always surrounded by a very colorful glow, it's rather pretty =)
The Spire isn't technically a wall itself but it is fucked up <3 it's the seat of the Lovely Prince (the title of the current and singular god). It's been heavily enchanted and covered in illusions; the Lovely Prince doesn't actually maintain it well, so it's a rather derelict mess in reality, but the illusion projects an opulent veneer. The illusion persists as long as the Lovely Prince is around to maintain it :3
---
The characters ougghghghgaaaaa the characters >=) I am sure u have heard me mention all of them at some point but the core four are Daciana Cel Tradat (vampire), Mortimer Crackbone (human), Vidar Rothmoor (fey), and Kadija Ekunye (human). The four of them get together to kill the Lovely Prince ^-^ I won't get TOO into book 2 shenanigans here just bc this is already soooo long SJDHGDSG
Daciana is the head of the group and the duology's deuteragonist. She personally assembles the gang to kill the Lovely Prince, she plans out how to travel to the Spire without drawing attention, she refuses to stop until she completes her goal, and she goes against the vampiric Grand Coven's warnings to do it. Daciana is a very "I will do what I know must be done" kind of person, which does a lot for driving events both good and bad <3
Mortimer is the soul of the group and the duology's universal foil. He quite literally monitors and cares for the souls of the other three. He contains multitudes and is deeply understanding of other people's multitudes as well; his protectiveness and gentleness directly impact the end outcome. Mortimer also foils almost every single major character; he represents both someone's doomed villain and someone else's redeemed hero.
Vidar is the body of the group and the duology's antihero. He is a creature of indulgence, and indulge he does!! His hunger and consumption have enormous ramifications on the plot, especially leading into the second book. Vidar is also fundamentally selfish, cowardly, and mocks other people's feelings for a laugh. But still he takes the heaviest beating in defense of the other three, and consistently utilizes his advantages as a fey for their benefits.
Kadija is the heart of the group and the duology's protagonist. She can and will choose kindness every single time, even at great cost to herself, which shapes the entire overarching plot. Kadija is also the center of the conundrum and always was. She is the core of the story, the overlaid note in everyone else's arc, and she always was and always would be. Kadija's arc would have happened regardless of what the other three did or didn't do <3

KHDR Reactions
Episode 8: The Seven Lights and Thirteen Darknesses
2 Years Later
I don’t even fucking remember when this is. I think Xehanort and Eraqus are Masters by now…
They still play chess 😭
“It made me realize one lifetime is too short” NO. YOU STOP THAT.
“Twelve, no. Thirtheen” I can’t fucking do this.
I loooove the curtains slightly swaying

“Even knowing what he’s done?” what has he done???? I feel like I fucking missed something. Oh he just gave into darkness.
Vidar and the lesbians…
Eraqus blowing up on Vidar 🫢🫢🫢
Eraqus “Xehanort, you’d said you’d help!” bitch I dont remember that!
Damn these little bitches are tough LOL
Tumblr media
^ okay this made me CACKLEEEE. He looks like a teenager’s edgy version of themselves alsdkjfasdf. It’s the smirrrk
Tumblr media

This little silver bitch really said “what if I try to be a major villain in like… less than a day’s worth of gameplay?” filler villain
Man I really do not remember who’s who…
It’s interesting that Baldr can turn in and out of a heartless….. Kinda ruins the impact of KH1 but… sshhhh LOL
Me immediately after the Baldr boss fight “KILL HIMMMM, KILL HIM, KILL HIM NOW NOW NOW”
Baldr “we stand by a light that casts shadows. You with eraqus, and me with my sister. And when we when that light disappears, we lose our purpose and are swallowed by the void” okay well gay

Tumblr media
^ CHAINS! ODIN! Wrangling Baldr like a fucking horse “WE GOT OURSELVES A LIVE ONE BOYS”
Okay the way Xehanort just walked up to him and slashed…. That was pretty badass imo LOL
I just realized through all of this I still don’t know why Xehanort is bald…. Is it the corridors?? If it’s the fucking corridors like– I guess I already assumed that for so long but only doubted it when Nomura started hinting to it so fucking much LOL.
1 month later
Ugh damn the graveyards…. Even when there’s no bodies…
I don’t know why, but I like how this game, even with this scene, takes particular focus on Vor. I feel like Vor is such an unusual character, or at least, her type of bouncy cutsie girl character is always pushed to the side in KH, so it’s nice that someone like her finally got some focus and development.
Eraqus showing up with flowers too 😭
Eraqus “You’ve been cooped up in your room since… everything” god… they really did make Xehanort so relatable to me…
Eraqus “I hardly recognize Odin now. Just a glum old man, these days” 😭😭
Eraqus “Life should be fun, right?” Xehanort “Says the person weeping loudly in his room, night after night” NOOOOOOO 😭😭😭😭
Xehanort “How on earth did you hear that” LKAJSDFLKJ
MoM (Luxu I guess!) “Guess it wasn’t him after all” the singularity??? Who the fuck is??
Bragi “I’d like to keep this body a little longer” son of a fucking bitch LOL people’s lucky guesses about Bragi JUST based on the name were right… kudos to them lmao
Tumblr media
^ THE WAY HE FLINGS BALDR’S KEYBLADE, YOU BETTER WORK KINGGGGG. HE'S STILL GOT IT!!!!
Luxu “tough luck, no chosen one yet” well make up your fucking mind, Luxu, cause in KH3 you say he is!!
Idk why seeing Bragi in the coat made me laugh but it did. Also I can’t believe KH did the “no body, no death” trope…
After Credits
FINAAAALLLLYYYY TODDLER NORT!!!! 9 YEARS AGO, LETS GO
Look at him fall in his lappp 😭😭😭
“Great Great grandfather” so he is a descendant
HE HOLDS HIS HANNDSS 😭😭😭
“Will I get to see my mom again too?” the lady WAS his mom
Okay wait I’m confused hold on. So all the union leaders were listed in this scene. So, I think what happened, if I’m understanding correctly, was a psych out. Player did not join XEHANORT’s heart, but rather joined–I assume– Missing Link Player’s heart, who grows up to be Xehanort’s caretaker. And because it’s still our heart, Xehanort was able to pick up on that because he’s an empath now apparently.
TFW when you could have become the child of destiny but a boy who lost his sister had to fucking bananas on you instead, so now it’s a boy with a pet duck and dog.
Awww Xehanort IS descended from Ephemer
XEHANORT DIDN’T EVEN FUCKING NOTICE WHEN HE DIED????
Well it’s over. I guesss..... Okay. I'll just write my initial thoughts here.
INITIAL THOUGHTS
Overall: VERY funny to me, I laughed a LOT. I loved all the students. I think it was... an interesting choice to have the final villain be a brand new character, but hey at least DR's contained in that sense. I'm glad it finally clicked with me personally that Hade's underworld indeed connects across the entire world. People said to me "well duh mel, remember Auron?" but I just figured he died there since other FF characters go to the Coliseum. I... will need to digest the whole darkness thing, just because I THOUGHT I had it ironed out, but they talked about it over and over that I got tripped up and lost again LOL. LOVE baby nort. LOVE baby nort. How can such a little guy become the creepy man who freezes Terra and holds Ventus by the skull? incredible.
And strangely enough I really love that it, ever so briefly, addressed Xehanort, Eraqus and Odin's survivor's guilt. KH can imply trauma, but at the same time to remain light hearted, it doesn't always go all the way. It didn't go all the way here either, but further than I expected.
I enjoyed this game, and I'm glad I played it myself. Took me literally 24 hours to beat it, I played it all day, but I did it! 💪💪

Hi! Hello! I wanted to just pop in here and say your nessian fics are absolutely amazing. I’ve kinda been ig you can say straying away from nessian after reading acosf—and I really like them. I really do!—but it’s like they’re so different you know. My point is your nessian fics warm my heart and make me love them again, basically speaking. Also I read the new update of Wonderland, and im already in love. Also Cassian telling her to watch out for Vidar is going to lead to some comedic relief because I know he’s gonna be talking to himself until Nesta finds out and its gonna be hilarious 😭😭. I also can’t wait to see nessian progress!
Hello, lovely Anon! First of all, thank you so much for these kind words. I genuinely teared up reading them. You're so so sweet.
I totally hear you on being a bit disappointed and annoyed after ACOSF. I have definitely been there. But as @talkfantasytome always says, Cassian just had a concussion that whole book 😉 and isn't that the beauty of fanfiction? That we can continue to live out and read the superior ACOWAR Nessian dynamic in hundreds of different stories and AU's?
But I'm very honored that you consider my Nessian fics in that bucket too and that they've helped you fall back in love with them as a couple. And I'm glad you enjoyed the latest Wonderland update. You're absolutely right that Vidar is going to provide some relief from the angst. He's basically going to be a giant puppy 😂

I hope you like a nice big portion of 🥦 [BROCCOLI] for your entire cast. :3
oh MAN, considering I have like... about 300+ OCs for different worlds and lores, I might just break it up into different species and the pros/cons that some OCs might have opinions of (this is also going to tattle on me and how i develop my lore/what i end up focusing on the most)
Okay I wanna start w/ Essence Guardians, aka my flavor/subspecies of deities in The Shared Lore
The latest generation (so like, Solanum/Flarah/Glacia/Skylyn for the Model Realm, and Nerine/Celeste/Gelum/Ignis/Tempys for the Mirror Counterparts) has a lot of struggles with how many "rules" their body seems to have. The unstable powers that hurt them and people around them. The way their bodies would react to elements (mostly to do with weaknesses + strengths, like for example, Gelum being able to morph her body like water but is VERY sensitive to cold and electricity). The way they can't just regain energy through sleep but have to regain it through exposure to their Primary Element (Sunlight for Flarah/Gelum, Moonlight for Glacia/Ignis, other people's dreams for Tempys/Skylyn).
But worst of all? They cannot die the same way like Mortals can. Their soul regenerates physical forms. If they were to die, they would simply just cease to exist instead. They can't meet their loved ones in whatever afterlives they go to. A whole "it's tough to be a god" mixed with "to become god is the loneliest achievement of all" type of deal. They can't connect to mortals or relate to them in the same way, even if they gave up their divinity.
Speaking of the Aftelives and ghosts, I do also have a lot of lore surrounding ghosts and this subject! It's easy for ghosts in my lore to lose themselves and their humanity, and become more monstrous. Of course, stressing about this might only just make the possibility more likely. Ghosts of my lore either have to move on to the plane of spirits and eventually an afterlife of their choice, or enter a spiritual sleep, or constantly have to "tether" themselves to something important to them, lest they end up as one of these monstrous fiends.
Then we get to Nunui and Yiyio, who have relatively the same base for their dominant species/race. Chiru for Nunui, Misae for Yiyio, snow elves and magma elves respectively, both having connection to the moon thanks to being created by Glacia/Ignis. They tend to have body temperatures that are lower/higher than normal, are sensitive to the opposite temperature as it drains their energy faster (or worse, cause physical harm). And if you try to hybridize? There's a real chance that the hybrid child may end up with a condition that is near-impossible to regulate body temperature, or there may be some sort of "energy block" of sorts that prevents the use of mana, or other energy-based abilities such as things involving aura or ki/chi. Stamina at least seems unaffected by this "energy block".
Then Ethria and Suthria, which share most of the same dominant races. There's the Meiun, Lifians, Aerlumi, the Vidar, and Ryode. They all share a common feature: small, upwards-pointed ears that indicates someone of Ethrian/Suthrian heritage. However, one of the biggest problems with Ethria/Suthria (more egregious in Ethria tho) is that there's some sort of pseudo-caste system surrounding a race's/species' abilities, and the roles they're expected take on in their society.
The Meiun are the most human-adjacent out of the main 5, their main features being their ghostly, dulled or pastel color schemes, and their ability to hear the dead regardless of an area's "rules" surrounding the matter. It can be a handy ability... but also one that is hard to tune out. And if someone has died, yet has been brought back from the dead and given a second life? The voice is deafeningly loud.
Lifians! They're oversized fairies with healing blood! ... Most times. They have a few different blood types- Healer, Panacea, Null, and Toxin. However, Toxin-type blood is a result of a bit of hybridization, and a little bit of a supposedly-dead race trying to blend in w/ Lifians. Izulda is an example of a hybrid, where she has the numbing aspect from her mother, but then the toxic aspect of her father... and she hates it so much. Toxin blood types also cannot learn healing magics, but vice versa applies to other blood types- they cannot learn poison/toxic type magics. Also, the race/species is generally mostly born as female, with males being found through either hybrids with other races, or w/ Toxin bloods since technically they're not truly Lifian but more or less have been accepted into their culture. Or transitioning (a good thing about homo/transphobia being nonexistent in this shared lore <3).
Aerlumi are a race/species that has a focus on light and sky and flight, and as such, they have bio-luminescent markings on their body, and wings made from an ethereal light. As you can imagine, stealth is not very much their thing. An Aerlum is often expected to be a knight, scout, or guard, mostly due to their flight and mobility.
Vidar are tree people! As such they are often affected by things trees are often affected by, weather and temperature, nutrients, etc. They lose their leaves and go bald in the cold. Children are "grown" rather than born conventionally. Literally plant that child. Cabbage patch baby. When they die? They can't be buried in conventional graveyards, as "Soulgrave" trees tend to sprout from Vidar corpses. They don't necessarily have to eat with their mouth, and can consume things through the holes in their fingertips, and can enjoy rotting foods without much issues, so that's neat. Oh! And if they're a Fruit-bearing Vidar? The quality of food/nutrients affects the flavor of the fruit.
Ryode... unfortunately I haven't used them as much compared to other Ethrians/Suthrians, but they're rock people. Aesthetically looking like a mix of broken statues and rock/gem constructs. Their biggest weakness is that they cannot heal conventionally. They can, however, repair injuries through porcelain, clay, or metals, like how Kintsugi looks! Paints and glazes are used as a form of self-expression! They also cannot cross-breed or hybridize like other races, as a child is born through the parts being carved, then life is breathed into them by Flarah/Gelum. Meaning they can literally just... go extinct if their goddess goes missing or takes too long of a vacation or ceases to exist or something.
Now with Ethrian/Suthrian races out of the way, I want to focus on my favorite Aldzinian race: Inkos!
Inkos, much like the aforementioned supposedly-dead "Toxin Lifians" were supposedly extinct when Aldzin was destroyed. But, no, Inkos were scattered across many different worlds. They're made of ink, so their appearances can vary greatly. They're just usually characterized by paper whites, pencil grays, and whatever ink color you'd like to make their blood (w/ black ink being the most common). Generally speaking, weak to water, except for alcohol-based inks. Ghosts are usually made of invisible ink. They have the options to reproduce sexually and asexually, which the latter is where hybridization (and different ink colors!) can occur. They're also very, VERY sensitive to contamination! Blood is often the example I use, and often puts them in a "berserk" state.
Since I'm more or less just going down my OneNote list at this point, gonna give a quick mention to "Shadow-walkers". Talia, Ryvin, and Quirin all share this particular trait that seems to be inherited, where, as the name implies, they can walk through shadows as a form of fast travel. Downside is, pure darkness or light in an area can trap them in the shadows, until they're able to find an exit through another shadow in a different area.
Color Sages and Drainers... Kind of cheating with this one, since it's more of a trait rather than a race or species. They're essentially two sides of the same coin, where they physically, mentally, and emotionally react to color.
Sages are affected by the colors around them, and may amplify or suppress emotions, memories, or even physical ability. Dull, boring colors may cause weakness or confusion. As one character describes it in-story, "A Color Sage is a person who basically 'breathes color'." This trait is either genetic in some cases, or born from strong traumas... so not very fun for the latter. Especially if a certain color is linked to a particularly bad memory?
Then Color Drainers, the other side of the coin. “Strange beings that come to be when something was made, then left incomplete.” They can range from more mindless creatures, but there are plenty who have sentience and function almost normal, with some control over their draining power. The worst part is that they lack a sense of emotion, so draining color from objects, or worse, people, can give them that sense of being able to feel emotions. And its somewhat addicting, because for a short while, they feel... complete. Color Sages, unfortunately, give Drainers a longer-lasting and more powerful effect. Not to say they're completely emotionless, but they do struggle to process and show that emotion when they do feel it.
... Now this WOULD be the part I get into Gizoko races/species, but... my onenote lacks notes. I don't know where I put the notes, I know I had them. Which sucks if I DID lose them, because I know you would've loved Dragoniyans. But I haven't played with Gizoko lore in such a long time, I must've forgotten to transfer my notes. ^^;
Then of course I could always get into OCs I have of other races/species that don't belong to me... but there's a whole lot of mixing between friends' lore that I'd need to get more confirmation on, as well as fandom stuff like fan OCs. Maybe for this particular topic, I'll put a pin on it, and come back to it later.

Hello! Can I request a Fjor x f!reader (already in a relationship) in which she discovers his real identity and at first she is scared of him and he doesn't want her to be, but in the end she accepts him and there is like angst then comforting fluff? I thank you a lot💙💙
Ancient History - f.j
Pairing: Fjor Jutul x Fem!Reader
Summary: Y/N is forced to comprehend the truth about her boyfriend.
Content Warnings: Near break up, not proofread and it's short.
"I don't want to know what you are."
It was quite comical, how long it'd taken for her to realize her boyfriend's immortality. Hints were everywhere, from the pictures of his family throughout history, to the old artifact's in Vidar's office. "Y/N, please." He reached out, heart dropping when she stepped away.
In truth, she was afraid. In all the time they'd been together, Fjor had never once held any ill intent towards the girl, showering her with the purest love and the most thoughtful gifts, what'd changed?
"Please don't come near me."
His body went rigid at the quiver in her voice. "I'm not going to hurt you, I promise. Please."
Plea falling on deaf ears, her tense frame did not ease. "How do I know that?"
"Because I love you, Y/N."
"We could never work."
Eyebrows furrowed, Fjor cocked his head at her statement. "Yes, we could. We can make this work." He practically begged.
Tears threatened to spill, burning sensation engulfing her waterline. "How? I am going to grow old, and you're going to stay like this. Young, and beautiful!"
He knew there was no reasoning with this, after all, she was right. He took one step closer, relieved when she didn't recoil. "Stay with me anyways."
"That's not fair."
"But I will protect you, forever. I'll do anything you want me to do."
He took her hands in his, gently rubbing the pads of his thumbs across her hands. Y/N cracked a minuscule smile. "You'll make me look like a cougar."
The boy laughed at the jest. "Really? I'm over 700 years old."
"I didn't know I had a thing for older men."
Their giggles died down as she finally gave into his embrace. "I'm going to take care of you." She nodded. "I love you."
"I love you too, Fjor."

The reason why Vidar calls Xehanort "the visitant" specifically
(Major KHDR spoilers)
Earlier I had made a post talking about Vidar's use of the word "visitant" to describe Xehanort, and mentioned that along with meaning "visitor," it can also mean "ghost/spirit/supernatural being". In a reblog I theorized that maybe Vidar could somehow sense that Xehanort's heart is unusual, and even though I think this is still the case, I believe I've figured out the real reason why Vidar compares Xehanort to a spirit.
The tl;dr if you don't want to read the whole thing: it's because of how Xehanort arrived to Scala.
The first thing I want to talk about is a strange, blink-and-you'll-miss it interaction between Xehanort and Odin at the beginning of the game, Episode 1.
In this scene, Odin explains how the upperclassmen are given permission to visit the outside worlds in order to "broaden their horizons." Xehanort raises his hand and asks a question.
Tumblr media
[Xehanort: How does one get to those worlds?]
Odin replies, but his expression looks...troubled.
Tumblr media
[Odin: There are several ways...]
Odin trails off, and there's a noticable pause in the conversation. After this pause, Xehanort blinks, and makes this expression:
Tumblr media
Confusion. Confusion at Odin's reaction to his question.
What's so special about Odin saying "There are several ways?". Well, because aside from donning Keyblade Armor and using a gate (the standard method used by Scala) you can also use...dark corridors. Which, as we know, is how Xehanort arrived to Scala from Destiny Islands, thanks to the assistance of Brown Robe.
Tumblr media
We can see here that the dark corridor seems to open up to Scala, if the blue/white insides of the portal are any indication (the sky or water, perhaps?) Recall that Xehanort (jokingly? seriously?) theorizes to Eraqus in the Prologue that maybe he fell from the sky.
Okay, so, Xehanort arrived to Scala via dark corridor. And Odin is likely aware of that. What does that have to do with Vidar calling Xehanort "the visitant"? Well, Master Xehanort has this to say about dark corridors:
Tumblr media
[Master Xehanort: These halls are not to be traversed by the living but by spirit and emotions.]
Living beings aren't supposed to use the dark corridors. They are meant for that which is without form, spirits and emotions and energy and darkness. For someone to emerge from such a portal unscathed, it must be a rare sight. And would certainly have people questioning the true identity of the "living being" who not only chose to traverse it but survived it.
And such a questioning person could be...Vidar.
But how does he know about Xehanort arriving in a dark corridor? Simply put, if Odin knows, and Vidar has a close relationship with Odin, then Odin might have told him. And I think there's plenty of evidence in the game to suggest that Odin reveals far more to Vidar than he does to any of his other students.
Tumblr media
[Vidar: I see why you caught the Master's eye.]
Vidar: "There's something...different about you."
For one thing, it seems that Odin has his eye on Xehanort, and he told Vidar that much. There's the fact that Vidar had to inform Vor about Odin frequently meditating on the tower roof, implying that only Vidar has this information, perhaps because he has special access to Odin's insight even when Odin is off duty. And of course there's the whole conversation Vidar and Odin have about True Darkness and Kingdom Hearts. It definitely seems like Odin is less secretive with Vidar, meaning that the (hidden?) nature of Xehanort's arrival was likely revealed to Vidar at some point. Thus why he knows about Xehanort arriving via dark corridor, and thus why he would (subtly) compare Xehanort to a spirit.

Logyn Meta: Loki & Sigyn’s Family in Myth and Marvel (Comparison)
Tumblr media
The family that is ready to begin Ragnarok in order to defend your honor. It’s a tragic tale, but family is something worth fighting for!
Follow me as we explore this crazy, wonderful family that is probably the most famous of the Myth’s.
We may not know much about Sigyn’s side, but Loki’s side is one that legends are made of.
From the Norse Myths, to Marvel Comics and the MCU, we will see the similarities and differences for each member in the different universes as well as learn facts about each one and why they are important.
Tumblr media
Laufey (or Nál) - Loki’s Mother
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
She is Loki’s Mother in Mythology.
Mostly mentioned by the matronymic, “Loki Laufeyjarson” meaning: Loki Laufey’s Son.
Her name (Laufey) is typically thought to mean leaves/foilage. Nal means Needle.
Not much is known about her. We don’t even know if she was a Goddess, human or giant so it is assumed Loki gets his godhood from her.
In the poem Sörla þáttr, Nál and Laufey are portrayed as the same person: "She was both slender and weak, and for that reason she was called Nál [Needle]."
Laufey is listed among Ásynjar (goddesses) in one of the þulur, an ancestry that perhaps led her son Loki to be "enumerated among the Æsir", as Snorri Sturluson puts it in Gylfaginning.
Related to nature like forests and leaves.
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
Laufey is Loki’s Father in this universe.
As Loki was born small, a motive of embarrassment for his parents, his existence was kept a secret.
A younger Loki sends Laufey into a fateful battle between Odin, leading the All-Father to claim Loki as a son. Laufey was left for dead, wounded, but alive, leaving a future Loki to kill him.
A group of Frost Giants try to revive Laufey by retrieving his skull. It ends with Malekith performing a spell to resurrect King Laufey.
Laufey hates Loki and thinks of him as a disgrace
It ends with Loki killing his father again after he tries to steal the Casket of Winters and kill Frigga.
MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE (MCU)
Same as Marvel Comics Counterpart. Appears in the first Thor movie.
Tumblr media
Fárbauti - Loki’s Father
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
He is Loki’s Father in Mythology.
Attested in the Prose Edda and in Kennings of Viking Age Skalds.
A Jotunn
The Old Norse name Fárbauti has been translated as 'dangerous striker','anger striker',or 'sudden-striker'.
Related to lightning
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
Mother of Loki in this universe.
Gave birth to an unusually small child to the annoyance of her husband.
It is said the night Loki was born that she stabbed her own heart with an ice dagger, but Loki suspects Laufey is the one who killed her.
Appears as a figment taken on by a parasite. She’s mostly deceased in the comics.
MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE (MCU)
Does not appear or have a reference in the MCU
Tumblr media
Loki Laufeyjarson - Son of Laufey & Farbauti. Lover of Sigyn & Angrboda (and many others honestly)
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
Everyone already knows the tales about Loki, so I won’t repeat it all again. It’s pretty lengthy. I’ll just point down the basics for him with it.
He’s famous for causing trouble among the gods as the Trickster and God of Mischief. Not a bad guy, but misinterpreted that way, although he can be a dick too. Despite how much he causes trouble for them, he also helps them out of situations too. He just wants to have fun, even if he takes it overboard at times.
Some sources put as Jotun and some say he is Half-Jotun, Half-Aesir (on his mother’s side.)
A well-known Shapeshifter who can be anything: Salmon, Male, Female, Horse. The list just goes on.
A really handsome being who loved to get it on. *finger guns*
Blood Brother’s with Odin. How? We don’t know. It’s interpreted as a friendship or foster-brothers. It’s unclear really.
Gonna start Ragnarok for valid reasons honestly after having his entire family taken away from him or killed by the Gods. #TeamLoki
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
Far too many appearances to document here from 1942 to present. There has been some retcons as well with the fact the current Loki has been reborn in a new incarnation also known as Ikol.
In the comics Loki is the adopted son of Odin and Frigga and Adoptive brother to Thor & Balder.
He’s depicted as being the God of Evil in the classic comics serval times. In fact, it’s one of his titles.
Depending on the writer for the classic comics, Loki can have moments of humanity, but all around he causes trouble.
Just wants to rule Asgard and get rid of Thor who is his enemy.
He’s honestly a bad guy most of the time in the classic comics #VillianTrope
I personally have yet to read any current comics of Loki that aren’t the classics so this is where my knowledge and research stops.
MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE (MCU)
First off, Tom Hiddleston as Loki is just *chefs kiss* perfection.
Pretty much the same as comics except for the fact he isn’t really a villain. He plays tricks on people for fun and laughs and truly cares about his family.
However, things change when he discovers the truth that he is a Jotun and has been lied to about it his whole life despite being told countless stories of how Jotun’s are monsters to be slain (You fucked up a perfectly good kid, Odin. Look, he has anxiety and trauma.)
He develops major identity problems on top of others things, but despite it, Loki tries to still do best by his family as he wants to belong. Yes, he becomes a villain in The Avengers movie, but not for the hell of it. #Thanos
Honestly, he just deserves better. That’s where this leads. Thank you.
Tumblr media
Angrboda - Loki’s Consort/Lover (Fenrir, Jormungandr & Hel’s Mother)
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
She is only mentioned once in the Poetic Edda as the mother of Fenrir by Loki. The Prose Edda describes her as "a giantess in Jotunheim" and as the mother of three monsters: the wolf Fenrir, the Midgard serpent Jörmungand, and the ruler of the dead Hel.
A Jotun known as Mother of Monsters and Giantess of Ironwood.
In Old Norse, Angrboda means: 'the one who brings grief', 'she-who-offers-sorrow', or 'harm-bidder'.
According to scholars, the name Angrboða is probably a late invention dating from no earlier than the 12th century, although the tradition of the three monsters born of Loki and a jötunn may be of a higher age.
Some scholars say she was a very powerful witch and that she had the ability to see into the future. She was confined to Hel and would not be released from the realm of the dead until Loki was unbound.
In some versions of the Myth’s she knows her children will bring about the end of the world (Ragnarok) as well as being a witch set on fire three times before Loki eats her heart.
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
A giantess of Jotunheim and a Witch.
Born to Elderspawn Vârcolac and Echidna.
She mated with Loki and gave birth to Fenrir and Jormungadr. Legends say she also gave birth to Hela, but it seems to be nothing more but legends.
Angrboda died of unknown causes and was sent to the Underworld of Hel.
When Thor needed to know how to get to Hela's realm because she had been taking mortals to Niffleheim, he went to the Hlidskjalf and summoned Angerboda from the underworld, forcing her to tell him how to get there. Once she revealed to Thor the path he had to follow, she tried to take him with her to the underworld.
Only has one appearance in the comics -- Thor #360 (1985)
MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE (MCU)
Does not appear or have a reference in the MCU
Tumblr media
Sleipnir - Loki’s Son
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
Attested in the Poetic and Prose Edda. In both Sleipnir is Odin's eight-legged steed and child of Loki by Svaðilfari. He is described as the best of all horses.
The Prose Edda contains extra information saying he is grey.
Old Norse meaning: Slippy or the Slipper.
Sleipnir is also mentioned in a riddle found in the 13th century legendary saga Hervarar saga ok Heiðreks, in the 13th-century legendary saga Völsunga saga as the ancestor of the horse Grani, and book I of Gesta Danorum, written in the 12th century by Saxo Grammaticus, contains an episode considered by many scholars to involve Sleipnir. Sleipnir is generally accepted as depicted on two 8th century Gotlandic image stones: the Tjängvide image stone and the Ardre VIII image stone.
Scholarly theories have been proposed regarding Sleipnir's potential connection to shamanic practices among the Norse pagans.
Sleipnir was born when Loki shape-shifted into a mare and became pregnant by the stallion of a giant, as is recounted in the tale of The Fortification of Asgard.
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
There are two different origins for Sleipnir in the comics: 1. Thor fighting off an army of the undead on Midgard. He promised to help as long as his horses weren’t eaten, however, Thor was betrayed and took his horses remains back to Asgard, coupling it with Asgardian Magic to create Sleipneir. 2. Loki had hastily agreed to let a Frost Giant re-build the wall around Asgard, in exchange for the Moon, the Sun, and Freya, only he had to do it in six months. The Frost Giant had only asked to use his grey stallion, Svadilfari. Right as the last brick was about to be placed, Loki transformed into a beautiful white mare, and lured Svadilfari off. Loki later gave birth to Sleipnir. (Just like in the Myths.)
MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE (MCU)
Odin’s eight-legged steed.
Sleipnir’s origins are unknown. He appears in the first Thor Movie.
Tumblr media
Fenrir Wolf - Loki & Angrboda’s Son
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
Attested in the Prose and Poetic Edda as the first son of the Jotun couple. He is a wolf destined to kill Odin. So, they bind and seal him when he's still young, with Tyr losing his arm in the process. When Ragnarok comes, he indeed kills Odin, but is killed by Odin's son Vidar in return.
Fenrir is the father of the wolves Sköll and Hati Hróðvitnisson.
In the Prose Edda, additional information is given about Fenrir, including that, due to the gods' knowledge of prophecies foretelling great trouble from Fenrir and his rapid growth, the gods bound him, and as a result Fenrir bit off the right hand of the god Týr.
No chain can hold him, except for Gleipnir, a rope made by Dwarves containing the roots of a mountain, the breath of a fish, the sound of a cat's footfall, the sinews of a bear, the beard of a woman and the spittle of a bird, all of which were impossible items to obtain.
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
Pretty much the same as his Mythos with some additional storylines.
When Raganrok happened, Fenrir was reborn with the other gods on the New Asgard universe on Midgard. No details of his fate on Earth have been revealed.
Fenrir helped the mutant Wolfsbane as she was carrying the child of one of his descendants.
It is one of the few individuals believed to be more powerful, or equally as powerful, as Dormammu; the others being galactic entities like The Beyonder.
Fenrir is Genderfluid in the comics.
MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE (MCU)
Fenris is a giant Asgardian Wolf who serves under Hela and is portrayed as Female. She resurrects her as they take over Asgard.
Instead of being her brother, Fenris is her loyal companion and mount.
Fenris ends up getting into a fight against Hulk as he pushes her off, sending her falling into the void below to her supposed death.
Appears in Thor: Ragnarok.
Tumblr media
Hel - Loki & Angrboda’s Daughter
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
Attested in the Prose and Poetic Edda. She is a giantess/goddess who resides over the Underworld that is also called Hel, a place where many of the dead reside. She is the daughter of Loki and Angrboda, sister to Fenrir and Jormungandr and usually depicted as the youngest of the three.
Goddess of Death and Graves and ruler of Hel who welcomes the souls of those who died of old age, disease or by accident.
Hel is described as having been appointed by the god Odin as ruler of a realm of the same name, located in Niflheim.
The Prose Edda details that Hel rules over vast mansions with many servants in her underworld realm and plays a key role in the attempted resurrection of the god Baldr.
Old Norse Name Meaning: Hidden
She’s mostly mentioned only in passing. Snorri describes her appearance as being half-black, half-white, and with a perpetually grim and fierce expression on her face.
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
Renamed Hela in the comics.
Allegedly the daughter of Loki and Angrboda, but it’s never made clear or stated. Hela's genealogy is the subject of controversies and retellings.
Her path pretty much follows her Mythos where she is destined to do terrible things and Odin makes her the ruler over the dead in the realms of Hel and Niflheim until maturity.
At some point, she was considered the daughter of Odin and of a long-lost goddess.
Honestly, she usually tries to expand her powers, wanting to rule over Vahalla and obtain Asgardian souls.
MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE (MCU):
Appears in Thor: Ragnarok as Odin’s firstborn and only daughter. Sister to Thor and Loki.
Kinda pissed her dad locked her away and wants to rule Asgard and take revenge.
The cause of Ragnarok and supposedly dies on Asgard after everything is said in done in the movie.
Tumblr media
Jormungandr - Loki & Angrboda’s Son
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
Usually depicted as the middle child of Loki and Angrboda, he is known as the Midgard Serpent or World Serpent who is a giant snake. When Odin takes Loki’s kids away from him, he tosses Jormungadr into the ocean that encircles Midgard. The serpent grew so large that is was able to surround the Earth and grasp it’s own tail. When it releases it’s tail, Ragnarok will begin and he will fight his arch-enemy, Thor.
The major sources for myths about Jörmungandr are the Prose Edda, the skaldic poem Húsdrápa, and the Eddic poems Hymiskviða and Völuspá. Other sources include the early skaldic poem Ragnarsdrápa and kennings in other skaldic poems; for example, in Þórsdrápa, faðir lögseims, "father of the sea-thread", is used as a kenning for Loki. There are also several image stones depicting the story of Thor fishing for Jörmungandr.
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
Both Loki and Angerboda were descended from the Frost Giants of Jotunheim and were of humanoid appearance; however, the sons Angerboda bore Loki, Jormungand and the Fenris Wolf, did not. It has been suggested that Jormungand and the Fenris Wolf were born as sentient animals because their parents each had the magical ability to change his or her own shape. Hence, Jormungand and the Fenris Wolf each bear the form of the animal that their parents had assumed at the moment they were conceived.
Jormungandr follows the same as his Mythos to a certain degree with his fate to fight Thor during Ragnarok as the God of Thunder would die from his venom.

Sigyn - Loki’s Wife
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
Sadly, not many stories that have Sigyn in them have survived to this day. She is only attested in the followings works: Poetic Edda & Prose Edda.
The most famous of her story tells of how Loki has been bound by the gods with the guts of his son, Nari, and how his son, Vari, has been turned into a wolf. The Goddess Skadi fastens a venomous snake over Loki’s face, from which venom drips. Sigyn, stated as Loki’s wife, stays by his side and holds a basin under and catches the venom so it won’t drip onto her husband, but when the basin grows full, she pulls it away to empty it, during which time venom drops onto Loki, causing him to wither so violently that earthquakes occur that shake the entire earth.
In the poem, Gylfaginning, Sigyn is introduced in Chapter 31 as being married to Loki and that they have a son by the name of “Narfi or Nari”. She is then mentioned again in Chapter 50 where events are described differently than in Lokasenna; Vali, described as a son of Loki only, is changed into a wolf by the gods and rips apart his brother, “Narfi or Nari.” The guts of Nari are then used to tie Loki to three stones, after which the guts turn to iron, and Skadi places a snake above Loki. Sigyn of course catches the venom in a bowl. This process is repeated until he breaks free, setting Ragnarok into motion.
In the poem, Skáldskaparmál, Sigyn is introduced as a goddess, an Æsir, where the gods are holding a feast for their visitors and in kennings for Loki: “husband of Sigyn” and “cargo [Loki] of incantation-fetter’s [Sigyn’s] arms.”
Old Norse Name meaning: Victory Girlfriend.
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
Lonely and looking for female companionship, Loki ends up coming across Sigyn and plans to make her his. However, she is already engaged to a warrior of Odin’s Crimson Hawks -- Theoric. Hence, Loki sets up a trap to have Theoric killed during a mission so Loki can disguise himself as Theoric. Once they are wed, Loki reveals himself and despite Odin attempting to annul the marriage (which goes against Asgardian Law)), Sigyn tells the Allfather that she will follow the duties of a loyal wife since she is Loki’s now.
This is when Odin proclaims her to be the Goddess of Fidelity. This was a thing first started by the Marvel Comics.
Sigyn doesn’t have much of an agency in the comics except being a loyal wife to Loki, sometimes going along with his plans or getting on him for it.
I personally haven’t been able to find any evidence of Sigyn’s parents being Iwaldi and Freya in the comics, so I’m not sure if this fact is Fanon or not.
Sigyn has suddenly seemed to vanish from the comics with her last official appearance being in 1996. It has been allueded at that she died or was killed during Ragnarok.
Her relationship with Loki in the comics is...complicated and changes a lot depending on the writer.

Narvi/Narfi & Vali - Loki & Sigyn’s Sons
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
Not much is known about Narfi and Vali except for being Loki & Sigyn’s sons with Vali being transformed into a wolf by the gods and killing his brother whose inners are used as a chain to bind Loki in the cave.
Narfi and Vali are referred to in a number of sources. According to the Gylfaginning section of Snorri Sturluson's Prose Edda, he was also called Nari and was killed by his brother Váli, who was transformed into a wolf; in a prose passage at the end of the Eddic poem "Lokasenna", Váli became a wolf and his brother Nari was killed.
Snorri also names "Nari or Narfi" as the son of Loki and his wife Sigyn earlier in Gylfaginning, and lists "father of Nari" as a heiti for Loki in the Skáldskaparmál section of his work.
Narfi’s name could mean “Corpse” in Old Norse, relating to how he was killed by his brother.
There's no mention of what became of Vali after he became a wolf.
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
Narvi never makes an appearance in the comics and is only mentioned in: Free Comics Book Day Vol 2018 Avengers.
There is a Vali in the comics called Vali Halfling. He is the son of loki and a unnamed mortal woman. So, I don’t consider this to be the same Vali that is the son of Loki and Sigyn.

Thanks for reading everyone. This required a bunch of research, but I hope this helps and has been educational. We only have what we can work with considering the surviving myths, but there is so many stories out there that we don’t know of that aren’t clear because of it.
I tried my best to cover everything I knew about them in Marvel too, but sometimes so many retcons is too much to keep up with. I know there may be some errors in places, but it’s the best I could get this with what we have to work with.

Jake guard dog AU part 2
Part two of the guard dog au is out and about. :D
Poor Jake all scared and in pain. It‘s so good that Chris is there to help him <3 (honestly though giving Jake a pet name in this chapter annoyed the hell out of my brain. But some of you might be able to guess who’s pet he was based on that ;)   )
Thank you again @ashintheairlikesnow for letting me play with your babies. I love them so much.
CW: fucked up head space, past abuse mentioned, past dehumanization mention,
He had pleaded, begged for his new master to not abandon him, too, but his begging had never been good enough, never earned him the reward of mercy, and so the man had left.
Leaving him with a regretful smile for a parting gift and one last order.
“Be good for Natalie, okay? She‘ll take good care of you. I promise, she is safe.”
Safe.
That‘s what handler Ferrick had promised his owner would be. It felt like a life time ago since he had heard this lie. Believed it, stupid and doe-eyed.
Longed for it be true. Even now.
A longing that lived eternally in his bones, festered there since the beginning of a life that had been torn from his heart. Discarded like withered children‘s book pages.
Only this longing had remained. Survived the coldness of white rooms.
Vidar was cold now, too.
Icy morning chill creeped from the hard floorboards into his aching body, as he lay wedged between the old couch and the living room wall.  Legs screaming in pain that wouldn‘t settle after he had all but fallen of the furniture and crawled behind it.
They had put him on the couch, but he knew better. Knew that dog‘s belonged on the floor. Knew not to fail this test.
The man who had scraped him off the street, half dying and delirious from pain had told him to be good for this Natalie woman, so he would try.
What else could do he do right now anyway?! Incapacitated as he was.
He curled up, as much as his throbbing limbs and his tiny hiding space allowed. Fighting against the exhaustion that gnawed at his mind and trying to drown out the fear, hot on its heels.
He had been promised the woman was safe, but no one said anything about the upstairs-people. Those big green eyes that had peered down at him.
Like he was some kind of animal, to gawk at.
Because that‘s exactly what you are.
Kneel dog.
Fetch.
Give paw.
Good boy.
Only that he wasn‘t. He wasn‘t good at all, or his master wouldn‘t have thrown him away. A quiet sob escaped into the houses silence and the dog pressed his trembling lips together until they hurt. A tight white line in a pale bruised face.
____________________________________________________
„Where is-“
„There, there there there behind the the couch.“
„Tristan give him some space, will you?“
Vidar‘s eyes snapped open. Light blue staring right up into bottomless green.
He flinched back. Head hitting the wall with a dull thud. Sharp pain radiated through his skull. Made him growl. Cracked lips pulled back into a vicious snarl.
The big green eyes drinking him in grew even wider and their holder stumbled back with a quiet gasp.
He looked scared.
Good!
And incredibly... young?
„Tristan.“ Miss Natalie laid a tanned hand on the boys shoulder. Work roughened fingers squeezing gently. „Will you be a dear and get our newcomer something to drink?“
„O- o- o- okay.“
The boy nodded, strawberry blond hair flying everywhere as he jumped to his feet in one gracious movement and vanished out the door in flurry of limbs.
What had his new master called this place again?
A safe house?
„For people like you, you know. Other... pets without a home.“
Could it be?
But this Tristan looked way to young to be a pet.
Memories of black batons and steel tip boots flashed through his mind and something hot and heavy twisted inside his gut.
The thought of metal prongs digging in the boys pale neck made him sick. All of a sudden.
Reminded him of Nicky in the bed of this sick fuck when-
„So.“ Miss Natalie‘s voice cut through his fogging rage like a light house siren and he snapped back to attention. Watching her crouch down a few feet in front of him, hands folded. „How about we get you back onto the couch, hm? It must be cold on the floor.“
He dropped his gaze, unsure of what to do. Dogs didn‘t belong on the furniture. He knew that. But dogs also shouldn‘t disobey their owner. Was this woman his new owner now? She must be. Right? Could he ask? Should he dare? Sir had hated when he had spoken without permission.
Please not the muzzle again.
„Not talking today, honey? That‘s fine.“ The smile in her voice sparked the hope that he had made the right decision.
„Can can can, can he not talk?“ Tristan took a few tentative steps into the living room. Long fingers wrapped around a steaming mug.
The smell of milk and honey tickled his nose. He craned his neck, blinked up through blond lashes.
Tristan came closer.
Miss Natalie plugged the mug from Tristan‘s hands and set it on the floor. Pushed it over to him.
„It can be hard on some days. Impossible really. Just give him time.“
Vidar didn‘t look at the mug. His eyes were trained on the teenagers solemn face as he nodded.
„Yes. I I I I know day‘s like, like that.“
Tristan plopped down in front of him, tugged his feet over his thighs so that they nearly rested against his abdomen and leaned forward a bit. Fingers tapping softly over his shins.
A nearly conspiratorial grin danced around his lips. Green eyes sparkling warm. „I lose my my my words too. Sometimes. When when I‘m angry or or or or scared. I now it‘s it‘s it‘s scary but don‘t don‘t don‘t worry about that. They they they‘ll come back.“
The first smile in forever creeped on Vidar‘s face, at that. Barley more than the twitch of his lips.
No wonder the boy had to use all his words at once, when he had to make up for days he had none at all.
Tristan mirrored his smile ten fold. Early morning sun dipping in his dimple. Catching in strawberry blond hair.
Long fingers walked up to the mug and nudged it even closer. „My my my my Mom makes hot, hot milk for me when when when I‘m upset. It al- al- always helps.“
His own rough fingertips slid over the floorboards, feeling their faint texture before his hands wrapped around the mug. He lifted it to his lips, let the heat of the drink seep into his freezing fingers and took a tentative sip.
Tristan‘s smile widened as he watched him. Swaying softly forward and back. His pleased hums sunk right into his heart, sweet as the honey milk.

consider this frame. On it, we see a damn attractive blonde showing a fak. Laurits is sitting in a car that looks very much like either Vidar's car or Fjor's car. So whose car is he sitting in? So, if you look at the background of the video, you can see the journalists. I doubt they're here for an interview with Fjor.
And here's Vidar... the person whose authority has been sharply undermined, who has become an enemy of the people — a very interesting victim for an interview. So the reporters have surrounded Vidar's car, in which Laurits is sitting... Well, what can I say... I can say: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Thanks for attention.

Scarlet Briar: The Seeds of Life Chapter 8
Tumblr media
Chapter 8: You Sylvari Are All The Same
Sometimes help doesn’t actually help
Ceara stood just outside the entrance to the cave, looking out over the jungle. The air was heavy and humid as the early morning sunlight peeked through the trees. She barely slept, the fear that these seemingly friendly mordrem could turn on them at a moment’s notice keeping her awake. She watched as a lone mordrem carrying a bow came rushing out of the foliage, passing her swiftly into the cave. Liathlas walked up next to her, followed by Malyck shortly after. It was quite apparent neither of them had gotten much sleep as well.
“That one seemed to be in a hurry.” Liathlas remarked.
“It practically knocked us down in its haste.” Malyck added.
“It must need to use the bathroom.” Ceara dryly quipped, still staring at the jungle. “Well, are we ready?” she looked over her shoulder at her partners.
“Yes.” Malyck glanced at the mordrem standing near the cave entrance. “Let us be away from here quickly.” He whispered. Liathlas nodded in agreement.
“Ceara.” A voice called from nearby. The three turned to see the lead mordrem coming towards them, holding leather bags in one of its rough barked covered hand.
“Your Nightmare Court friends are moving through the jungle heading to the south.” He held the bags out to them.  “Take these. Some supplies we could spare.” They each slowly grabbed one, opening them. The satchels were filled with some pact rations, dried meat, and a small canteen of water.
“You should hurry.” He turned. “The Nightmare Court will not wait for you.” He pointed to a ridgeline rising above the trees in the distance. “The pact camp is just beyond that ridge. I’m sure you will be able to find allies there.”
“Thank you, Mordrem.” Ceara said to him. “I can’t believe I just said that.” she thought to herself. She turned to her companions. “Let’s go. No better time than the present.” The mordrem watched as they hurried off into the jungle.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The caravan lumbered across the desert region. The sun beat down upon Orla as the dry air provided little protection. Dressed in a simple robe, she was chained to a large hook in the bed of one of the carriages. Her face soured as her thoughts playing over the events the night before.
“The great Amaranda…” she spit thinking about the sylvari that chased her to the desert outpost. “You’ll be my first target once Nafiona takes over the Court. You will pay. Your suffering will be long, dreamer.” She looked off into the distance, staring at a giant vine that protruded from the desert sand, forming a giant arch as its other end was buried deep.
“Mordremoth. Hmph.” She looked at her shackles and tugged at them once again.
“It won’t do me any good to escape now.” She thought to herself. “Nothing but open desert for miles. I might as well sit and enjoy the ride.” She looked behind her over the edge of the carriage.
“Hey guard, how about some water? I’m going to dry up and whither out here in this arid heat.” The priory scholar, a norn woman, cut her eyes up to her for a moment and back to staring straight ahead as she marched along with the caravan.
“Seriously, I’m going to die up here in this sun.”
The guard looked at her again. “Fine.” The guard grunted.  She climbed onto the carriage with her sword drawn. Unslinging her canteen, she tossed it at Orla.
“You do have a heart, after all.” Orla grumbled as she uncapped the canteen. The soldier sat across from her and stared at Orla. Orla took noticed and slowly lowered the canteen from her mouth, replacing the cap.
“So, what is this ‘Nightmare’ actually?” her captor asked.
Orla smiled lightly as she set the canteen down. “It’s a feeling. A feeling of freedom. For us to be who we truly are as sylvari.”
“As you truly are?” The guard looked out over the desert, focusing on one of Mordremoth’s giant vines in the far distance.
“Yes. We should not be bound by some rules written by a long dead centaur. Instead, we live freely. Unbound.”
The guard turned her attention back to Orla. “Unbound? So, you choose to subvert other sylvari to this “Nightmare” to free them from a hold that the Pale Tree has on them?”
“Yes. We show them the way. Show them that they can be free of the Pale Tree.”
“By leashing them to this Nightmare?”
Orla narrowed her eyes at the guard’s remark. “You don’t understand. You are not sylvari.”
“No, but I do know that it didn’t matter what side of the fence you were on, you sylvari all are minions of the jungle dragon. Dream. Nightmare. Still one and the same. What did it matter?”
Orla stared at the guard.  “I didn’t fall to Mordremoth’s sway. None of us did.”
The scholar raised her eyebrows at Orla’s comment. “Oh? Really? Then you must not have been in the jungle during the campaign. Almost each one of your brothers and sisters turned on us. Very few were able to resist the will of the dragon. Even your leader Faolain fell to the dragon, becoming a monster.”
“It didn’t matter what side they were on.” The scholar continued as she hooked the canteen strap with her sword and pulled it to her. “Nightmare Court or otherwise, you sylvari are still all the same on the inside.” The guard stood and climbed off the carriage.“No…no we aren’t.” Orla muttered as she watched the guard climb down.
“No…no we aren’t.” Orla muttered as she watched the guard climb down.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Captain Johan Magnusson was a norn of considerable stature and a member of Vigil. He helped fight against the forces of Mordremoth, helping to coordinate the forces as they were scattered, and push back the mordrem assaults. Now he commands an outpost set up to monitor and research the jungle. Sitting at a table in the middle of the camp looking over a map of the region along with some fellow pact members, he heard a voice call out.
“Captain!” Johan looked up to see two pact soldiers escorting a wounded sylvari.
“What is it, Pete? Another one?”
“Sir, this sylvari has some concerning news.” The soldier replied.
“Scar…Scarlet…Briar…she’s here. She lives.” The sylvari stammered.
“What?” Johan quickly stood from the table, practically knocking it over.
“She…she’s trying to revive Mordremoth.”
“What did you just say!?” a gruff voice asked nearby.
“Scarlet Briar…she’s here…in the jungle…” the sylvari turned to a dark furred charr that was approaching.
"Where is she?” he asked.
“She’s to the south. Near the corpse grove.”
“Brom, I want you to take a contingent of troops, and head there. See what you can find out. And be on the the lookout.” Johan ordered the charr.
“Sir, yes sir.” Brom saluted. “I’ve been wanting to get another crack at that twig since that weird crap that went down in Lion’s Arch.” He hurried off and started gathering a unit together.
Johan turned back to the sylvari. “Pete, take this sylvari to the med tent immediately and get him patched up.” The two soldiers ushered the wounded sylvari away.
“Captain Johan, sir if I may.” A sylvari priory member sitting at the table spoke up.
“What is it, Vidar?”
“I feel that sylvari is lying, sir. He is a member of the Nightmare Court.”
Johan looked at him. “How can you tell?” Concern in his voice.
“I’m a sylvari, sir. We can tell who has fallen to Nightmare.”
“Is he lying about Scarlet being here? Or about trying to revive Mordremoth? Or both?”
Vidar looked towards the medical tent. “I would imagine both, sir.” He turned back to Johan. “But if Scarlet is here, I do not think she would be attempting to revive the jungle dragon. Not with the information we have learned in recent times.”
“Then why would she be here?” Johan asked him, a tinge of suspicion in his voice.
“I don’t think she is our enemy this day, Captain.”
“You think the Nightmare Court is planning something?”
“I’m not sure. But we shouldn’t take this matter lightly.”
“Hmm…” Johan turned. “Brom!” he started marching towards the charr. Brom as his squad were ready to head out towards the corpse grove.
“Sir?” Brom replied saluting.
“Be on your guard out there. Scarlet Briar may or may not be in the area. But the Nightmare Court is. They may be up to something, or even in cohorts with Scarlet.” Johan took a deep breath. “Kill them all if you see them.” He muttered under his breath.
“Yes sir!” Brom saluted again.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Do you think Fiach made it to the pact camp?” Caelan asked out loud as the Nightmare Court group journeyed southward through the jungle.
“If he didn’t, he deserved his death for failure.” Someone behind him replied.
“That…that is true.” Caelan spoke.
“Is that a tinge of concern I hear in your voice, Caelan?” another sylvari stepped up beside him. “Did that punch from Scarlet knock something loose in that noggin of yours?”
“What? No, of course not. She just got a lucky shot. M’lady sent Fiach to that camp to persuade them to go after Scarlet. If he didn’t make it, then the plan-“
“Watch your tongue, courtier.” Caelan was cut off by Nafiona’s scepter at his throat. “Lest I burn it out of your mouth.”
“I…I’m…forgive me, m’lady.” Caelan stammered as Nafiona leaned in close.
“Never again.” She spoke quietly.
“Ye…yes m’lady!”
Nafiona swiftly turned away from him and continued with the group.
“It will take a few days to reach the dragon’s lair. M’lady.” Ordhram spoke to her.
“I know. I figured it would be the case. The jungle is vast. To think this whole land was the body of the jungle dragon. Every plant. Every tree. Even the smallest blade of grass may have been a part of it. Quite impressive if you think about it. That much power stored within a single entity.”
“And the seed will contain that power.”
“Indeed, it will. Any update on the sword?” she inquired.
“Forging continues, m’lady. It will be ready.” Ordhram responded confidently.
“Good. Once completed it will be the perfect vessel to harness the seeds power.” Nafiona smiled as she breathed in the jungle air, pausing when a strange sensation passed over her.
“Ordhram, do you feel that?” Nafiona raised her hand to stop the group. “Like…a buzzing…in the air.”
“I do, m’lady.” The group drew their weapons as they looked around their immediate surroundings.
“Forward. We must be cautious.”
“What do you think it is, m’lady?” Ordhram asked.
“I don’t know. But something powerful, I’m sure.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vidar entered into the medical tent, brandishing his staff. He glared at the Nightmare Courtier that was sitting on one of the cots inside, a sylvari mender tending to his wounds.
“Is something the matter?’ the mender asked.
“Leave us, mender. Please. I have a private matter to discuss with our guest.” Vidar said sternly. The mender stood and left the tent. Vidar sat on a cot across from the courtier, who glared at him.
“Why are you in the jungle?” he asked the coutier.
“If you want to know, scholar, maybe you can find out in your stack of books back at that crypt you call a home.” He sneered.
Vidar snickered to himself. “You’re right. I don’t need to know why you are here. But I do know this. You’re lying about Scarlet Briar.”
“Heh. How do you know I’m lying? She’s here in the jungle. I’ve seen her. You do remember that it was she that awoke the jungle dragon, right scholar?”
“I do know. And I do know she was not in control of herself when those events transpired. Just as our brothers and sisters weren’t in control of themselves when we arrived here in the jungle.”
“How do you know she wasn’t in control of herself? How are you so sure?” the courtier asked somewhat whimsically.
Vidar leaned in close, his blue bioluminescence starting to glow. “I’ve seen the horror that controlled Scarlet Briar. She is not here to resurrect the jungle dragon.”
“Is that so, scholar? So tell me, what was it?”
Vidar stood. “If you want to know, perhaps you can look into the Nightmare and find out yourself.”
“Hah! Dreamer, you make me laugh.” the courtier chuckled. “But you won’t be able to stop us. We’ll bring forth a new world for sylvari. A world where we don’t have to be bound to some stupid rules chipped into a stone.”
“Heh, you sound like someone else I used to know.” Vidar said over his shoulder as he walked out of the tent.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The morning air was warm as the sun breached through the treetops of the sylvari village. Amaranda retrieved her carriage from where she had left it the day before when the courtier arrived. After unloading her things into her home and storing them, she mixed a cup of tea and knelt at the low table. She took a sip as she stared at Ceara’s waypoint device. Setting her cup down, she picked up the device and switched activated it once again, projecting its map in the air in front of her. She slowly moved the map to the east until the dim blip appeared deep in the jungle.
“Widget? Is there anything that we can do to reach Ceara?” she asked the small golem.
“Use-the-closest-waypoint-then-travel-to-her.”
“That doesn’t do me any good.” She rubbed her face sighing heavily. “I should have gone with her. Thorns!” She set the device on the table.
“Maybe-a-communicator?”
Amaranda looked at the golem. “A communicator? What do you mean?” Her brow furrowed slightly.
“Asura-created-a-communicator-to-talk-long-distances.”
Amaranda sighed lightly. “Well, what good does that do me now?” Her shoulders drooped as shefelt slightly defeated.
“You-can-contact-Ceara-when-you-acquire-them.”
Amaranda looked at the golem displeasingly. “Widget...” She started. The golem beeped a response. Amaranda closed her eyes, lightly shaking her head.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I can see the camp from here.” Malyck spoke to his partners as they crested the ridge. Looking off into the distance they could see the various structures nestled on a plateau.
“The perfect spot. Easily defensible and accessible to their coptors.” Ceara noted.
“But also, nowhere to run if the mordrem decide to band together and attack.” He replied.
“Well, hopefully that won’t happen anytime soon.” Liathlas added.
“Well, we’re wasting time while we stand here. Nafiona is on the move and we need to stop her somehow.” Ceara started hurrying through the jungle.
It wasn’t long before they came upon a fortified area.
“Halt!” a voice shouted from behind a gun emplacement. The trio paused, they put their hands up in front of them. A trio of troops stepped out from behind a mound of dirt and wire fence with weapons drawn.
“State your business here.” One of them ordered.
“We’ve come seeking help.” Ceara shouted back at them.
“Help for what?” the guard replied.
Ceara took a deep breath. “We are…we’re…” She paused remembering the conversation with Liathlas a few days before. “We’re travelling to see the dragon egg in the golden city!”
The guards looked around at each other. “What dragon egg?”
“The one delivered by the commander. All of Tyria knows about it!”
The guard turned and spoke something to his compatriots. One of them ran back into the small camp.
“How do you know about the egg?” he asked sternly as he turned back to the trio. “It’s all over the asuranet! We came to offer our respects!” Ceara quipped excitedly.
“It’s all over the asuranet! We came to offer our respects!” Ceara quipped excitedly.
“They aren’t buying this.” Liathlas muttered.
“Shush, you.” Ceara whispered back. A few moments passed and the guard returned. He muttered something to the lead guard and they both turned to the sylvari.
“Ok. Come with us. Keep your hands where we can see them.”
“I don’t like this.” Malyck said quietly as they slowly approached the guards.
“It’ll work. Trust me.” Ceara assured them.
“Famous last words.” Malyck muttered. They walked through a small gate in the fencing where they were met by small group of soldiers.
“Take these three up the hill to the camp.” The lead guard ordered. Three soldiers saluted and motioned for them to start up the path.
“So, what do you do here?” Ceara asked.
“None of your business.” One guard shot back.
“Ouch.” Ceara gasped. “Such manners.” They crested the top of the small plateau reaching the camp. It was large with many tents set up in a circle. The trio was marched to an empty tent.
“Wait here.” One of their chaperones ordered them.
“This isn’t right.” Malyck said to them as he looked at the tent. “There isn’t any other way out of here.” It wasn’t long before a giant of a norn stepped into the tent. He glared down at the sylvari, his eyes settling on Ceara. He pondered a moment before breathing in deep.
“That’s a very fancy looking rifle you have there, sylvari. It looks much more advanced than anything the pact has. What do you plan to do with it?”
“It’s just for my protection. From anything in this jungle.”
“Something that fancy has got to have some power to it. Where did you get it?”
“It was designed by asura in Rata Sum.” She replied, a tad suspicious of the norn.
“Well, we’re going to have to confiscate it. Along with any other weapons you all might have.”
“What?” Ceara asked, her temper starting to rise.
“Why are you taking our weapons?” Liathlas asked as well.
“Scarlet Briar. We know who you are and why you are here in the jungle.” He replied to them. “And you two are her accomplices in this.”
“Vigil, I can assure you, if I were here for mischief and mayhem, I wouldn’t have just walked right up to your camp.” Ceara quipped.
“A ruse.” Johan shot back. “What are you planning?”
“Sir, we are trying to stop the Nightmare Court.” Malyck said to him. Johan turned his gaze to Malyck.
“The Nightmare Court. And what exactly are they trying to do?”
Ceara and Liathlas looked at each other. “They are looking for an item of great power.” Liathlas replied to him.
“Of great power, you say?” He looked at Liathlas. “So how do you know about the egg?”
“Everyone knows about the egg!” Ceara piped up. “It’s all over the asuranet!”
Johan’s face reddened as his anger started to rise. “Who leaked that information!?” He turned and exited the tent. “Pete! You and Jonez take their weapons and put them in the brig for the time being.” He ordered. “And be very cautious with the red. She tries anything, you kill her.”
“Yes sir.” They heard outside.
Ceara’s heart jumped as she heard the command, anger started to fill her chest. “They aren’t taking me that way.”  She growled.
“It’s going to be ok. We can just-“ Liathlas was cut off by the appearance of a portal appeared inside the tent. The trio looked at each other.
“Well, that’s very convenient.” Ceara said snidely.
“Step through it! Hurry!” Liathlas jumped through.
“Wait!” Malyck shouted as Liathlas disappeared. He shook his head and he followed Ceara through. They appeared behind a rock outcropping near the camp. A sylvari in Priory garb greeted them.
“Hail Ceara and company. I couldn’t let them keep you there.”
“Thank you, scholar. What is going on here?”
“A nightmare coutier arrived in the camp not too long ago. He told Johan that you and your friends are here to resurrect the jungle dragon.”
“What!?” Ceara gasped. “Why in Tyria would I do that after everything that thing did to me!?” She questioned, a look of confusion cast across her face.
“Shhhh, calm down.” Liathlas gently put her hand on Ceara’s arm.
“Yes, I understand what happened to you. It happened to many of us.” Vidar looked out from behind the outcropping to see the Vigil pair leaving the empty tent.
“Johan! The tent’s empty! They escaped!” Jonez shouted as he exited.
“What!? Search the camp! They can’t have gotten far! If they resist, kill them!” Johan commanded, his voice bellowing across the camp. The pact members instantly started systematically searching the area.
“That’s your cue to go. Hurry. Stop the Court from getting the egg.” Vidar turned back to them.
“It’s not the egg they are after, scholar.” Ceara replied back to him.
“It’s not the egg?” Vidar asked, an inquisitive look on his face.
“No, something that could be much worse I believe.” The trio started climbing down the hillside.
“There they are!” a voice shouted in the distance.
“Thorns.” Vidar hissed through his teeth. He projected a stealth field around them, causing the three to disappear from sight.
“Well, since we can’t see each other now, I hope we can follow each other until this wears off.” Ceara quipped.
“Stay close. Keep a hand on each other until we’re clear.” Malyck told them. He felt a hand on his back.
Vidar solemnly returned to the camp. Johan took notice of him and approached with a determined gait.
“Vidar. What did you do?” He glared at the sylvari, his eyebrows knitting in anger.
The sylvari looked up at the Vigil soldier. “I did what I had to do. They are not our enemy. Scarlet Briar is not our enemy.” He replied. He turned his gaze to the medical tent. He could see the coutier looking out at him. “That courtier is.”
“You just aided in the escape of a criminal!” Johan barked at him.
“If she is a criminal, then I am as well.” Vidar replied solemnly.
“Fine. Pete, put Vidar in the brig until we figure out what to do with him.” Vidar felt a hand on his shoulder.
“Come on, let’s go.” Pete said calmly, his voice a sharp contrast to Johan’s gruff stern commands. Vidar’s staff was taken from him as he was marched to a metal cage like structure. He looked at the medical tent again to see the courtier laughing.
“Keep laughing, courtier. This isn’t over.” Vidar muttered.
Johan turned to his subordinate. “Jonez, get the word out to base camp in the dragon’s lair. Tell them that Scarlet Briar is here and is trying to resurrect Mordremoth and to be on the lookout.”
“Yes, sir.” The soldier saluted.
“Also, keep an eye on our nightmare sylvari here. We’ve had to throw one in the brig already for aiding that stick. I’m afraid there might be others wavering as well.” He turned his head to the medical tent. “As a matter of fact, just go ahead and throw that courtier in the brig as well. Be done with it.”
Jonez saluted and pointed at two other soldiers to follow him. They entered the tent to find the courtier laying on a cot. He raised his head to glance at the pact soldiers.
“Grab him.” Jonez ordered.
“What!? What are you doing!?” the courtier shouted as the solders picked him up by the arms. “Let go! Let go of me!” he squirmed to break their grip. “You keep fighting, we’re gonna make life very difficult for you.” One of the soldiers growled. They hauled the courtier to the brig where Vidar was waiting and shoved him inside.
“You keep fighting, we’re gonna make life very difficult for you.” One of the soldiers growled. They hauled the courtier to the brig where Vidar was waiting and shoved him inside.
“Well, it a pleasure meeting you here.” Vidar joked as the coutier picked himself off the ground.
“Heh, since I’m now in the brig, I guess it won’t matter if I kill you.” The coutier grinned.

Ceara and her group rushed through the jungle quickly, escaping their pact captors. Liathlas kept a stealth field going as much as she could until they were far enough away.
“I can’t…I have to rest…” Liathlas dropped to the ground, exhausted.
Malyck looked around, his eyes settling on the fallen remains of a large tree. “There. We’ll take cover there for the moment.” He helped Liathlas as they climbed up a small incline into a small alcove under the large trunk.
“I guess we can’t rely on any pact help now.” Ceara said, looking out over the jungle.
“Many still don’t trust us.” Liathlas said, sitting on the moss-covered ground trying to catch her breath.
“Can you blame them?” Ceara asked. “After what happened.”
“We’re on our own in this now.” Malyck sat on a log. He unholstered his pistols, inspecting them.
“What about the frogs? Can’t them help?” Ceara looked at him.
“The Itzel are a peaceful race…mostly. Not willing to take up arms unless their villages are threatened. And some tribes are quite hostile to outsiders.” He thought for a moment. “There is the Nuhoch.”
“The Nuhoch? What is that?” Ceara bit into a food bar. Her face grimaced at the taste.
“Another race that lives deeper in the jungle.”
“Are they friendly?”
“They can be. But they are very suspicious of outsiders. Their trust must be earned.”
“Can we contact them? Where are they?” Liathlas asked.
“Their main village lies far to the southeast. Through very rough and twisted terrain, and the chak. It will take a few days to get there.”
“Chak?” Liathlas replied curiously.
“Giant insect like creatures. They swarm in massive groups.” Malyck responded to her.
“We may not have days to waste travelling there if it’s as dangerous as you say.” Ceara rebuttled. “Nafiona would be making gains towards her target while we would be losing time.”
“Agreed.” Malyck nodded. “Like I said, we’re in this on our own.”
Ceara fell silent as she looked out over the jungle. Her thoughts turned to the dreams and visions she had been having.
“Liathlas?” she asked, turning to the seated sylvari. Liathlas looked up at her. “Have you been having any strange visions or dreams lately?”
“No, not really. The last dream I remember having is being on a sunny beach while men heeded to my every need and plied for my attention. But nothing strange.”
Ceara paused a moment, slightly taken aback. “Well, that seems like a pleasant dream.” She finally muttered, looking at Malyck. He looked back at her and shook his head furiously. “Anyway, I mean strange dreams concerning the pale tree?”
Liathlas pondered for a moment before shaking her head lightly. “No, I haven’t. Why do you ask?”
“It seems I’m the only one having these dreams and visions.” Ceara stared into the distance.
“Perhaps due to what happened to you.” Liathlas said quietly. “You may have a closer connection to everything here than the rest of us.”
Ceara turned to Malyck. “What lies to the south of this region?”
“A golden palace named Tarir.”
“Tarir!?” Liathlas piped up. “That’s where the dragon egg is located!”
“We should steer clear of that area of the jungle then.” Ceara cautioned. “I’m sure it’s crawling with pact members. We don’t need any more headaches from them.”
“Agreed.” Malyck seconded.
“But the egg! It must be magnificent! We should see it!”
“The seed is more important right now. Besides, the pact probably won’t let us anywhere near that egg, let alone the palace itself.” Ceara snapped back. “Who would build a such a place in the middle of the jungle anyway?”
“Glint.” Liathlas replied sternly.
“Glint? The brood of Kralkatorrik?” Ceara questioned. “Well, I guess it is far enough away from anything Kralkatorrik would try to brand. What else is in that direction?”
Malyck glared at Ceara a moment. “Malyck?” she asked, looking at him slightly concerned.
“The lair of the jungle dragon. The place where he was vanquished.”
Ceara felt a fear in her chest she had not felt in a very long time. She looked away at the ground, a swirl of emotions filling her mind. Anger, hate, fear, sadness. Liathlas took note and stood quickly, rushing to her side. She gently placed her hand on Ceara’s arm.
“Hey…it’s ok. He can’t do anything to us now. He’s dead.”
“No…no, it’s not ok.” Ceara felt anxious and afraid. “I can’t…I can’t go there.”
“You belong to me…” Memories of the dragon’s voice boomed through her mind.
“No…”
Liathlas turned to Malyck, who return her glance, himself looking a little confused.
“No!” Ceara screamed as she covered her face with her hands, dropping to the ground. Liathlas knelt beside her, slowly placing her arms around Ceara. She looked out at the jungle, tears starting to fall from her eyes.
“I did this.” Her voice hoarse. “Just..just leave me be.”
“It wasn’t you.” Liathlas whispered as she slowly released her embrace. She quietly stepped away and stood next to Malyck. He looked at her about to ask a question when Liathlas motioned him to stay silent.
“It’s a story best not to tell right now.” She whispered to him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vidar hands started to glow with ethereal energy as he squared off with the courtier.
“It would be best for you to stand down, courtier.” He warned his opponent.
“Scholar, your little parlor tricks won’t affect me.” The courtier lunged at Vidar, who gestured instantly. The courtier fell as bonds of energy wrapped around his feet, tripping him. The courtier screamed in rage as he broke free and charged at the scholar. Vidar sidestepped into a portal, appearing outside of the cage.
“What’s going on here?” an asuran pact member came running towards them.
“Your little scholar here attacked me.” The courtier replied instantly, sounding perturbed.
The asura looked at Vidar, who turned his glare away from the cage to the guardsman. “Vidar, you have to get back in the cage.”
“At least make it a different cage.” The sylvari spoke calmly.
“Why is Vidar out of the brig!?” He heard Johan’s voice shout behind him.
“Sir.” The asura turned to him. “There is a concern that the courtier here tried to kill him. I would suggest that we place Vidar in a separate area to serve out his time.
“You do realize your Vidar here used a portal to escape, right?” The courtier remarked snidely.
“I have no intention of purposely escaping from my jail. But you, courtier, are a different matter. Why don’t you tell us what your Nightmare Court friends are after if not Tarir?”
“Tarir? What is Tarir?”
“That’s enough.” Johan ordered. “Trilla, put Vidar in a different cage. And Vidar, don’t think of using a portal to escape again. I would hate to have to order you killed on sight.” Johan watched as the asura marched Vidar to another jail cell nearby, before turning back to the courtier. He stared at him intently, the courtier returning his glare.
“So, what are you after?” Johan asked.
The courtier laughed. “You’ll find out soon enough.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Images played through Ceara’s mind. The eternal alchemy, the face of Mordremoth, her battles against Tyria.
“Focus.” She gasped quietly. “Focus.” She closed her eyes and turned her thoughts to the mender that saved her life, his calm soothing voice she heard as he cared for her. She thought of her sister Amaranda.
“Amee…” she whispered. “Help me.” She thought about all the things she had done with Amaranda. How her sister had helped her through previous bouts of these same feelings. She remembered Amaranda’s voice, speaking softly as she held her. The sounds of the river flowing near Amaranda’s home. Ceara’s breathing slowed to a steady rhythm, her heartbeat slowing. She stayed kneeling on the ground as she cleared her mind, focusing on the peaceful sounds of the forest outside of Amaranda’s home. Slowly opening her eyes, the jungle came into focus, her breathing deep.
“Are you ok?” Liathlas asked sheepishly.
“I’ll be fine.” she replied softly, her voice choking.
“Are you well enough to keep travelling?” Malyck also asked.
Ceara rose to her feet slowly. “I have to be.”
