#kibumblabs#whenever I think about it and what it does (in general but mostly to artists) I go into a feral anti-capitalist blind rage#it is legitimately killing art. it is killing what it means to be an artist and replacing it with corporate brainrot#and it’s disgusting to me to think about kids going into art and getting brainwashed into believing you should sacrifice agency over your#time and what you create and etc in order to create a Brand is the most important thing– or rather a DEFINING thing– about being an artist#it’s just. god it makes me mad#I won’t even get into how it also rips your mental health to shreds and strips your ego and ability to enjoy what you do and etc#but you know. there’s that too#I could write a fucking essay on this man and maybe I should at some point honestly#what’s sad though is that the Instagram art account mentality is already so normalized and so in-line with how companies/corporations like#disney or blizzard or basically any animation/game company and whatnot work that it’s easy to have that mindset reinforced by comparison to#those ‘legitimate’ non-freelance jobs#like that’s how they do it at fucking riot games or whatever so it must be the Right Way To Do Art. constantly and painfully by everyone#else’s standards but your own. no! it’s not! stop sucking the industry’s dick and look up for a second#and yes that applies to freelancers because like I said this new freelance art mentality directly corresponds with how corporate art jobs#operate. just. think about it on an existential long-term level. you shouldn’t fucking waste your life for that shit#sorry I’m kinda spiraling cause it’s such a personally relevant topic especially with recently stepping out of art school and debating if#I’ll return or not next semester and all that because yeah my school is a direct pipeline into The Industry and thus it operates like#The Industry. and I thought that was something that’s a pro when I was going into this school but boy. it really hits you when you’re#slogging away worked to the point of carpal tunnel/wrist problems being a normal and accepted thing being expected to sacrifice your#physical and mental health and so on just#oh! this is going to be my life from now on. forever. this isn’t temporary to get a degree this is a model of the industry im being injected#into and if anything it’s just going to get worse staying in this pipeline. Steve’s best relationship wasn’t even a relationship. He could barely call it a fling, a flirt. They never even went on a date. They never kissed.
Steve still thinks of it as the best whatever-it-is he has ever had with someone.
At the beginning it was mostly infuriating, how quickly Eddie managed to win the kids over, compared to Steve’s months of work as babysitter/nailbat swinger/monster fighter. Steve had to literally bleed multiple times to get an ounce of respect, Eddie only had to run a nerdy club about fictional bleeding and monster-fighting.
Then somehow, and Steve still has trouble pinpointing when and how it happened, everything changed.
Taking the kids back home from hellfire became something he impatiently waited for.
He and Eddie would barely talk for a few minutes and he would find himself replaying the conversation in his head for days. Anything he could say to get a reaction out of Eddie became fundamental, and if he started by picking subjects to piss him off, he ended learning about Eddie’s favorites, because few minutes after hellfire were never enough and Steve needed Eddie to talk as much as possible, until the kids were begging to drop it and go home.
Steve never questioned the change, most likely out of fear. He doesn’t think he ever was clueless, just really scared about what would potentially mean to be staring at another dude’s eyelashes as he goes on a rant about why Ozzy Osbourne is the best artist of his generation. Or blush whenever said dude would call him “baby”, or “sweetheart”.
Steve convinced himself that the thing he and Eddie were having was as good as it was going to get, nothing more.
Then Chrissy Cunningham died, Eddie ran, and Steve realized that the thing will never be enough for him.
He couldn’t not have Eddie. Not watch him as he entertains a bunch of freshmen, as he stomps with his worn out sneakers on top of forniture, as he puts his terrible music on to push away anyone who doesn’t care enough about him to stay.
Steve needed to see Eddie being alive, doing what his heart desires, and he needed to be next to him when he does.
Obviously, this realization came at the worst possible time.
Steve tried to tell him so many times: when they found him at the boathouse, when he was hiding at refer Rick’s house, when they were taking a stroll in the upside down, and even when they were driving a stolen trailer to a gunshop.
But, it seemed, Eddie had come to a realization just as important and he tried his best to avoid Steve at every given chance.
Steve tried to initiate the conversation as Eddie did his best to run away from it. And he ran until Steve had no chances left to tell him how he actually felt.

Steve doesn’t know if he’s allowed to say he lost something he never had. To mourn a relationship he never began. A partner that, technically, never became a partner.
After Eddie dies, Steve has no one to be next to but he can’t say he ever did.
Steve just exists waiting. He can’t tell if he’s waiting for the pain to go away or for Eddie to jump out of a bush and yell “ah! I got you sucker!! By the way, I’m in love with you too.”
For obvious reasons, that never happens.
What does happen, is a call.
It’s a normal Tuesday, as normal as you could define it after Hawkins almost collapsed into the upside down. Steve got into a routine, between checking on the ones at the hospital, helping out at the shelter, allowing Robin to check on him to see if he’s still alive.
The call happens while Robin is doing her kitchen check up - aka making sure he has food and that he’s eating it-, so she picks the phone like she did a million times before.
“Harrington residence, this is Robin” she says, cheerfully.
Steve doesn’t pay much attention to it as he’s folding his dad’s old clothes that intends to donate to the shelter, until he hears Robin’s loud gasp.
“What is it? Is it the hospital? Is it Max?” He rushes to the other room where Robin is.
She doesn’t answer but she gives him a look as she passes him the receiver.
Steve goes quiet, a million thoughts going through his head as he takes the phone from Robin.
He’s still unprepared when he hears that unmistakable voice “Baby”.
Steve gasps for breath “Eddie?”
Is that really you? What happened? Are you hurt? Isn’t this impossible? Is what goes on in Steve’s head, but he ends up just asking “are you okay?”
He can hear a chuckle, Eddie’s wicked chuckle, a further confirmation that it is him, “I’m- hanging in there… are you okay?”
Steve finds the question absurd. He isn’t the one who got left in the upside down, the one that got eaten by demonic bats, the one who died before Steve had the chance to tell him how he felt.
He answers truthfully nonetheless, “I’m… I’m not okay.”
“I’ll be there soon, I promise.”
“Please Eddie, come quick.”
“I’ll break the sound barrier for you.”

Thenn..... arrhrhhgh I thiiiink I went looking for eevees, but I found Anastasia(Shiny Kricketot) in the process and kept her. Then I picked one of the eevees I caught at random and kept him. Then lastly I found a Mareep(Bonnie) by surprise and kept her.

And yeah that's how I pictured her XDD its becuase I use her the most out of all my Pokémon-
Now she's not bossy and doesn't have a leader or "I'm better that you guys" complex, none of that! She's just very intelligent and usually very level headed and calm. I can imagine that she's gotten the team safely through a lot of complicated situations and her plans/advice have rarely led the group astray.
Plus since I use her so often, I like to think that she's one of the most powerful Pokémon on the team. If not the most powerful. So whenever the group was met with a great danger, Gloria was probably the one to rescue them <XD
So the whole group kind'a gravitates behind her and lets/wants her to take the lead most of the time. Especially when things get complicated or dangerous!

Lets say I wanna draw Mario. I imagine what the drawing might end up looking like in my head, what pose I'll draw him in and what colors I'll use.. And then I just.. draw it. It might not look exactly like what I pictured but its probably close enough.

As for the Dry Bones thing, that's what I meant by "not sure how it fits into the AU yet" 😅 Who'd they fight? Why did they fight? When did this happen? No idea. Its all just a neat concept with no structure yet :// And beyond the awkward living situation with the Dry Bones today, I haven't really thought about how the Koopa culture has been changed by the war. That's just way too much thinking and I'm way too sick to bother trying to figure it out atm- 💀💔 But maybe someday I'll think it through!
Now Luigi, I had this idea that he had a bizarre encounter with a 1-UP and was later bitten by a Goomba. Over the span of say... 5 days or so..? Luigi slowly got weaker and weaker until eventually he became bedridden and actually died- He came back to life moments after but it still completely shook Mario and Luigi's worlds for a sec there-
I had intended to draw a comic about this, and I made a sketch about it in the past.. but around the time I thought of this idea my Mario phase was kind'a passing over so I didn't feel like making it- <XDD
As for a potential sequel, I would like to see Wario, Waluigi and Toadsworth. Not sure why Toadsworth wasn't in the first movie- he absolutely should have been. That deep voiced purple..? council..? toad guy?? Totally should have been Toadsworth :/
And my request for the Wario bros is that they are taken seriously. 😅🤣

Although I don’t personally headcanon Tim as trans (though i definitely enjoy trans tim content 👌😋), he certainly has his fair share of scars 
They’re mostly on his arms and hands
Some are from fights, others are from miscellaneous accidents, some have been there as long as he can remember and he’s not even sure where they came from
But theres one thing he knows for sure:
He HATES when people point them out 
He can’t really explain it, he just hates having attention drawn to them 
You may not feel the same way, but even if you say you don’t mind he’ll be careful not to point them out 
That’s not to say you won’t catch him staring when he thinks you’re not looking, though 
The scars just look so…natural, on you 
Like they’ve always been there 
He forgets that they’re scars, really 
He’s not sure why he feels so different about scars on you than he does on him 
The longer he’s with you the less he notices your scars anymore 
And the less he notices his own too 
Over time he becomes less insecure about them as he watches you not only live with but accept and maybe even embrace your scars 
And there’s something he loves about being able to run his hand down your bare chest, the marks on his hand matching with your scars 
Especially when he finds you in bed with him, climbing on top of him and straddling his lap 
He cant stop himself from reaching out and pulling your shirt off, his large hands splaying out over your torso as he admires you, feeling your heartbeat thump behind your ribs 
If your position allows him to see your chest, don’t be surprised if he can’t pull his eyes away 
He’s not very talkative during sex, but he’s always sure to remind you how handsome you are 
He knows sex can sometimes trigger dysphoria, and he doesn’t want you to forget that you’re his sweet boy, forever and always

Do you think the TOT group would mind tattoos?
Kind of self induldgant. I have an entire sleeve so I started wondering... How would the TOT gang react to that?
Overall I think they would be more open minded to it, seeing as they come from a generation where people getting tattoos are much more common. Yet they were also born just in time for their parents and grandparents to have wavering ideas about tattoos.... How would their upbringing affect how they feel about them?

Vyn
- I don't think he would be too fond of tattoos, just a vibe? He still is in the nobility mindset, so sometimes he finds his thoughts moving towards what he grew up around. However he will shove this line of thought down his throat. Just because he isn't FOND of them, doesn't mean he JUDGES others who decides to get them.
- probably has seen a lot of different people with tattoos in his line of work. They don't bother him, and he understands there are different reasons people decide to get them.
- He prefers someone who will probably be a bit more modest about showing them off publicly
however in private you are free to wear whatever you like. Encourages you to show them off in front of him, even. Tattoos or not, you still look like a princess in his eyes.
- loves that you can express yourself freely in such a way. All sorts of people express who they are through different means, and one of yours is tattoos. Will ask you about why you got them and their meanings, if they have any.
- Might be a little bit possesive in a way? Especially if your tattoos are in more of a hidden part of your body... He finds it attractive when he can see those parts of you and him alone.

- I REALLY get the vibe that he is more a traditionalist. Tattoos depending on what they are can be seen as unprofessional, and would prefer you to cover them up whenever you are working along side with him. Mostly in the sense of he wants others to respect you. He already has that respect for you, but he's afraid many of your clients will not treat you the same.
- Stares at them when you two are alone and have free time to yourselves. You ask him if he wants to touch them, but he blushes and looks away
- MEANINGS! He likes to hear about the meanings behind the tattoos. Stories about what happened in your life around that time, its his excuse to get you to talk about yourself
-honestly doesn't care THAT much. You're a smart person and he holds a lot of respect and affection for you, tattoos are simply apart of you and he comes to embrace that as well.
- If he catches someone staring at your tattoos too long...he gets a little bit defensive. Glares at them, pulls you closer towards him...sometimes you attract too much attention and he gets jealous!!!

- so many dresses and outfits to show them off. Your body is a canvas! Tattoos are the art!

- "you're such a baddass, miss!" He often says when he flirts with you. You simply roll your eyes and laugh

- I have very minimal information on him if I'm being honest so I'm not entirely sure , but I'll give a couple ideas from what I do know.
- He doesn't care
- He loves you and the ways you choose to express yourself.
-honestly as if they don't really exist. He doesn't pay too close attention to it, its just you and your body, what does it matter? Having a tattoo doesn't change the fact your still his partner!
- Sometimes when you are home alone and you are freely showing them off, he will look at them. Comment on the artistry, ask about them, gives a good topic to talk about.
- Considers getting one too at some point. But probably best to sway away from it, due to his job (Maybe ?)
- Wear whatever you want and do whatever you want. Tattoos does not change the fact he fell in love with you and doesn't see you any differently for it.

Thank you for the compliment 🥺!!! I'm so glad it feels homey. I try to make things like a home here... after all I LIVE HERE... thank you I hope to keep this blog going for a while after trying to revive it like twice before!
I think this request is so cute, I'm an artist too (have been for like, over a decade ^_^) so I've got lots of ideas in that aspect. I tried to keep to general sketching/traditional stylings of art but I think a lot of these can be applied to other art areas too!!

Oh, he is definitely excited about this.
Vash is a bit of an artist, himself. He can do those super-complex technical drawings, and he really likes making art of machinery and stuff like that. There's a lot of diagrams of his arm lost in a notebook somewhere.
He loves to see your style and interpretation of the things around you. Seeing the world through your eyes, even for just a moment, is like heaven to him.
If you ever give him some of your art as a gift, he keeps it hung up on a wall or wherever he can stay for a while. (If he's in a more permanent place, his walls are covered in your art. He just loves it that much.)
The ones that are most special to him, he likes to keep in his pockets, so he can look at them whenever he needs a morale boost. Like, this is what he's fighting for: a world full of love and peace, a world that's able to keep creating beautiful art like this for years to come.
One day, the two of you get to draw each other as a sort of practice. Seeing each other through the others' eyes... again, it feels like a dream. Vash draws all the parts of you that you weren't always confident about with such care that you feel truly loved by him in that moment.

"Oh, yer an artist? ... Can ya draw me?"
Yes he will absolutely pull that stunt at least once or twice, if only to get a hilarious dirty glare out of you. If you do actually take him up on this, he might let out a nervous "Haha... I mean, ya didn't have ta' do it, but..." He'll be really charmed.
Though his hands are strong and nimble from doing all those flippant tricks with the Punisher, he's entranced with the way you're able to use yours to create, to draw.
He's always sneaking you extra supplies, like pens, pencils, and paper, whenever you least expect it. You never have to ask for any of those things anymore, or even shop for them--they just happen upon your desk whenever you think you're running low.
One day, he takes a piece of your paper and a pen and doesn't let you see what he's doing until he's all done. He's a little dodgy about showing you, eventually he does. It's a crude scribble of the two of you, though you can tell he really put his all into it.
It's your most prized possession, and you give him a big hug for it.
Knives

Much like Vash, he's actually an artist himself--but doesn't really call himself one, rather saying that he's... capable of copying something he's seen part-for-part. So, his drawings are more like pictures or prints. They're exact. Eerily so.
The art that you make gets a half-hearted snort of approval from Knives, which is basically one of the highest praises he can offer in his own sort of language.
Though normally he'd want to give some sort of unwarranted criticism for a drawing looking wonky or off, he saves you from it. He doesn't want to break your passion--but he's not going to admit that outright.
If you do ask for criticism, though, he's very thorough while keeping you on the road to improvement. If you're studying a specific style, he's reading up on it. If you're trying new materials, he's making sure you have all the tools necessary for it.
And speaking of materials, he's able to secure uncommon colors and rare tools for you to use for art. He's making sure that everything you create is of the highest quality.
One day, you drew a portrait of him and presented it to him as a gift. He gave out that little snort of approval and maybe even a a tiny "Thanks..." as he wandered off. He secretly keeps it close to look at it in his private time, tracing his fingers over the ink marks and recalling your movements.

Amy’s Eye Color
Since I couldn’t get this off my mind I’ve decided to dive deep into the abyss of character design. I’ll mostly add on to what I said in my tags in the, “What Eye Color Looks Good On Amy Rose,” voting post and elaborate.

Short History
Amy’s eye color from the start of her redesign in Sonic Adventure has always been the same as Sonic’s. A warm green that use to be apart of Amy’s classic dress. Which is a nice detail in my opinion. The pink hedgehog’s eyes has been somewhat consistent with Sonic’s from official art, 3D models, to the comics.

It almost always been that way aside from Sonic X. Where her eyes are on the cooler side then Sonic’s. Jade or Emerald to be specific. Her eyes are closer to the color of jewelry. While Sonic has a warmer grassier colored green. I like jade or emerald on Amy’s eyes as well, but I want to keep the topic consistent and less complicated then it already is.
Anyways, I think the minor inconsistencies was done for artistic vision or whenever the lighting would change in the comics. To be honest I’ve noticed color inconsistencies all the time when it comes to Sonic characters. Which isn’t a bad thing. It just shows how much variety you can have when it comes to these characters.
My Thoughts On Amy’s Eye Color
I don’t mind Amy’s eyes being the same as Sonic’s. It doesn’t look bad on her and is one of the reasons her design is as iconic as it is. Especially since it’s been a part of her for so long.
But let’s get into why I personally prefer teal.
I’m no color theory expert, but I’ll do my best. Also, not every Sonic character or cartoon character period, follows these rules. Just a good majority of them do.

Sonic: Blue is a primary color and green is a secondary color. Because green complements blue Sonic’s eyes stands out. Not to mention they symbolize his energy and love for nature.

Blaze: Purple is a secondary color and gold is a primary color. Her purple fur works amazingly with her harsh gold eyes. Symbolizing her fire powers. Also I’ve noticed a few artist add a bit of a reddish orange to her and Silvers eyes and I think they look lovely.
Amy: She’s a bit complicated. Since her red dress takes up most of her design I’ll use it as Amy’s primary color. I believe teal would be a better secondary color for Amy because it stands out a bit better and is less harsh then green. It gives Amy a softer look too.
Teal and pink is also a wonderful combination in general because they balance each other out. With pink’s warmth and energy going with the teal’s calm and coolness. Giving off a more enchanted and mystical feeling to Amy’s eyes. It perfectly compliments her personality too because she’s an energetic character with a soft and sweet nature.

They’re not all similar characteristically, but what most of them have in common is they’re kind natured and they’ll protect the people they care about. Just like a certain pink hedgehog.

The main reason I prefer Amy’s eyes to be teal is due to a lot of amazing fan-artist. I won’t give out names, (because there’s a bunch of them) but they are so brilliant and I appreciate what they bring to the Sonic feast of wonderful art.
I’ve seen it so much to the point when I think “Amy Rose,” I see her with teal eyes. I know it’s silly, but that’s genuinely what I feel works for her. Besides I enjoy talking about weird topics like these. It keeps the mind turning, you know.
I appreciate the official artist and 3D models as well. Even if Amy’s eyes are barely ever teal, she still looks wonderful without them because of those talented people.
Conclusion
Will Amy’s eyes ever be teal? Probably not. Does any of this matter? No.
Teal eyes or not Amy Rose is a wonderful Sonic character. I hope you had fun with me on exploring this wild world of colors and character design.

This my "Tav", Silence. I'm still sorta working out her background details, but for now it's safe to say she's had it pretty rough.
Check below the cut for a lot of rambling and pointless, self-indulgent headcanons.
Her name comes from the fact that she didn't speak for the first few years of her life, instead learning to play the violin and communicating through her art. Someone started calling her "Little Silence" and it just sort of stuck. She didn't know her parents, but was adopted by a noble who saw her as a unique "pet" given her unusual appearance - even for a tiefling - and her musical and artistic talents.
Unfortunately, the guy was bad with money, and ended up gambling away a good portion of whatever Silence earned, in the end becoming desperate enough to try and auction off her virginity when she came of age. Silence, obviously, was not going to stand for this, and managed to escape - possibly killing the man who bought her in the process, she wasn't sure and frankly doesn't care.
With only her violin and a precious few belongings in tow, Silence made her way to Baldur's Gate and was eventually found by a gang of performers and thieves (that I have yet to come up with a name for) where she learned ways on how to survive on the streets and defend herself with her art. Now in her late 20s, and poised to set out on her own due to some complications within her social circle, she was taken aboard the Nautiloid.
There are two sides to Silence - one is kind of quiet, observant, and sensitive. She has a way of simply blending into the background if she doesn't want to be observed (she's good at Stealthing, I guess), and the other is her more or less "bard persona", which is outgoing and charismatic. Contrary to her name, Silence can be quite talkative when the mood strikes her. It's usually when she becomes angry, flustered, or anxious where she seems to forget words entirely and has a hard time articulating herself, which has led into some dramatic situations when she lashes out more physically.
Overall, she's easygoing, and tries very hard not to let her emotions get in the way of her making decisions, and so often comes off as more pragmatic than anything. She's also pretty accepting of those around her even if she is, in actuality, slow to trust. I guess you could say she's highly manipulative as a defence mechanism. So it's not that she lies to people, per se, but she can come off as liking someone more than she does if only to deflect harm from herself. She is not a people-pleaser, however, and has very defined boundaries in terms of how far she's willing to concede to someone, especially a stranger. She's excellent at reading people (most of the time), acts more confident than she seems, knows a little about a lot of topics, and is always eager to learn more. She can be impulsive and rude without meaning to, and has something of a sarcastic and dry sense of humor that always seems almost prepared in advance whenever she snaps back at someone. Her charisma and wit often seem to leave others with the mistaken impression that she knows what she's doing in any given situation, and thus has often been beset with expectations she's sure she's more often than not fallen short of. Somehow, people just seem to think she's the most competent one in the room because she talks a good talk. Due to her dual upbringing, she is capable of blending in with high society as well as she does low. Silence will generally act within her own best interests or those of her friends, but it doesn't really take much to persuade her to do the right thing.
A good example would be when she and the gang arrive at the druid hold and is asked to help the tieflings. Initially she denies getting involved until mocked by Astarion for "turning her back on the needy", at which point, just to annoy him, agrees to help. (Although, when pressed she admits she mostly did it because she realized they needed some things in the area anyway and helping them could be beneficial to their cause). She can have kind of an impish sense of humor and while she doesn't like to see others get hurt, probably does take more pleasure in watching her enemies die writhing in agony than she'd care to admit.
Random fun fact: Silence is a feral tiefling, and her tail is supposed to be reminiscent of a heraldic unicorn's or lion's tail. She often carries it with a curl or S shape as she has a somewhat chronic fear of it being stepped on or pulled. She also has cat-like eyes (that I've had to mod in, but really wish Larian would include them naturally in the game because why not??? Same with more variations in tails...)
Other fun fact is that Silence has a Secret Power in which she's capable of using her tadpole to influence those around her when she plays a song infused with a particular strong emotion. Unfortunately, she cannot replicate the song later, at least not in the same way or with the same impact as when she played it. This generally acts like an empathic attack on those who can see and hear her, impressing upon them the emotion she's attempting to convey through song which can manifest in the audience's minds as how she imagines it - so a full orchestra if that's what she's hearing in her head. As one can imagine, the situations in which this is actually useful are few and far between, as it would require the proper conditions and emotional preparation for it to be effective, although I like to imagine she has used it a few times on a smaller scale to calm tensions in the group when camping some nights.
Relationships with the other NPCs:
Lae'zel - Admires her strength, but is suspicious of her motivations mostly because she seems more than capable of finding this creche by herself, but instead wants to drag the rest of them along with her. Either she's hiding an altruistic side to her or something else is going on. Silence tolerates Lae'zel's nasty attitude, but also can't help but find her and her people's culture fascinating. She often tries to overlook the Gith's biting tongue in order to inquire more about it. It's a mystery to Silence what Lae'zel truly thinks of her, but it's probably nothing good (even if she seems to get bonus points every time she shows an interest in her people.) About the only time she gets anything resembling a compliment from her is when she agrees with her about the use of their tadpole or if she does something worth being commended for in battle. Otherwise, Lae'zel doesn't seem to be terribly fond of Silence's violin playing as the high-pitched tones seem to bother her.
Gale - Gale and her get along famously, and, next to Wyll, finds him probably one of the easiest to talk to in the group. They both share a great interest in magic and, at times, a similar sense of humor (which is to say she's about as bad at puns as he is). They're both well-travelled and well-educated, and if she doesn't know or understand something magic-related, she's quick to ask Gale for guidance, and enjoys seeing him in his element. Gale seems fond of her wit, open-mindedness, and appreciation and interest she takes in the world around her and those that live in it. She seems to have a genuine interest and appreciation for everyone in the group and admires her dedication to watching their backs, even if it's obvious she doesn't entirely trust any of them. He likes that she seems to know a surprising amount about wizardry despite not being one herself - at least enough to ask advanced questions about things that he might consider to be outside the interest of most bards, as well as the fact that she isn't easily fazed by things that would turn most people's stomachs or make them balk in disbelief. As could be evidenced by her rather extensive anatomy studies on the bodies of their fallen enemies ("It's free art references!")
Admittedly, Silence was a bit shocked and uncomfortable to learn about Gale's history and his need to consume magic artifacts, but as he seems sincere in his efforts to keep it under control, chooses not to worry about it and does what she can to support him, which he greatly appreciates. There's still that little nagging voice in the back of her mind, however, even if he's friendly enough to get her to forget that at times. She has to remind herself on occasion that she doesn't really know him.
Shadowheart - Shadowheart and her also get along very well, even if they're both somewhat guarded around each other still, and Shadowheart, when not in the right mood, can be very difficult to talk to just in general. But, it's Silence who is first to lower her defenses, and speak to the Shar acolyte candidly. Silence finds the two of them have a lot in common in terms of how they approach most situations - pragmatic but always erring to self-preservation or that of the group's. Shadowheart seems to appreciate Silence's amicability, willingness to compromise, and respects that, even though she is friendly, she isn't naive about it. It also helps that Silence doesn't seem to have a problem with her being a worshipper of Shar and respects her desire for privacy even without being prompted. Silence appreciates how much of a team player Shadowheart really is, with her main interests usually centring around maintaining the group and essentially keeping everyone content enough not to turn on one another.
Astarion - Even though she enjoys picking on him from time to time, it's almost always in a way that he can also appreciate. She finds it more fun when the other person is in on the joke as well. This can and does include flirting, but thus far, she's made it pretty clear that she perceives it as simply something to laugh about (even if he might be absolutely serious about it). Unfortunately, at least initially, she also finds Astarion to be one of the hardest to read among the group, and picking on him isn't something she started doing until she knew where his boundaries lay. Up until then, she approached him delicately, allowing him to lead the conversations and learning what she could along the way, which, fortunately, he seems more than happy to do. As a result, he takes her quite a bit longer to translate than the rest, and doesn't feel entirely comfortable around him for a long time to come, really only engaging with him whenever he wishes to engage with her. As a result, the vampire tends to find Silence the most comfortable and trustworthy one of the group even if she seems careful enough not to let him get too close. He's likely the first to notice how little Silence voluntarily shares about herself, often distracting the others with reassurances, compliments, and asking questions she thinks they would enjoy answering.
Despite this he appreciates that she's easygoing and down-to-earth, while still having a good sense of humor and seems to know when to take something seriously, and, while at times seemingly easily impressed with the world around her (like he's one to talk), also seems to accept it for what it is and adapts accordingly.
In actuality, Astarion has about as much trouble reading her as she does him, as he's found it impossible to tell if she's genuine in her compliments and expressing interest in others around her. She certainly seems to have a gift for getting people to trust her. She's good at taking control of conversations and deflecting away from topics she doesn't want to talk about in the least offensive way possible, and he's made the mistake of reading her sincerity as naivety. She intrigues him as almost every time he thinks he has her figured out, she does or says something unexpected, or contrary to what he would assume about her, and he's not even sure if she's doing it on purpose. It's possibly a matter of them being out of step with one another, being of differing natures, even if he gets on better with her than he has anyone else in recent memory (insofar as we know about his story at least).
About the only things that get on his nerves at times is that she's maybe a little too soft, and a little too cautious and prone to overthinking than is good for her, mostly because it ends up involving dragging them into doing something boring or "unproductive" (not to their overall benefit). Never mind that she's encouraged him to wait in camp or go on without them if he has a problem with their decisions. It also bugs him that, even if she sees the merit in using the tadpoles, she's on board with the others that it isn't safe to do so until they know exactly what it is they're dealing with. Rather by accident, it would seem, Astarion finds himself liking her more than he realizes, especially after his condition comes to light and, lo and behold, she's not only okay with it, she wants to know everything about it and how they can use it to their benefit, even if she doesn't seem to be too terribly keen on being fed off of, as long as he can sate himself with bandits and ne'er-do-wells, she's off the hook insofar as she's concerned... for now, and has basically told him that she's his "emergency supply" if circumstances require it.
Despite all this, Silence is still vigilant, and while she trusts him with certain things, doesn't trust him completely, and knows full well the lengths to which his type is willing to go to cover their attempts at taking advantage of a situation.

so I noticed that you seem to have never mentioned anything about what the bad guys do in your Opera House au so I thought maybe they are just critics that have big vendettas against the chain and are always looking for things to pick on when they go to their shows? Idk random thoughts you can ignore this if you like *yeets self out of window*

Hmmmm...
I'm going to say that Ganon at least is a business tycoon of a rival company to Flora's father, and while, on one hand, he is actively trying to topple their company for his own gain, there is also the fact that his little sister Riju is constantly undermining him? And he can't even confront her about it because she inevitably manages to distract him with something else (like talking about boys, he is a VERY protective older brother, no you are NOT dating another loser Hylian boy, young lady!). I would't say he's evil, I just think he's rich and has power and doesn't always use it to benefit the people who need it, so it's more that the media hates his guts.
Hmmmm.....basically, if you know anything about American Politics, he's a slightly less horrible version of Trump. Like, if Trump knew that respecting women was possible and good for your health. So yeah, the entirety of the young generation makes so many memes about this guy, and he kinda deserves it.
As for the rest!
Veran and Onyx are Ganon's trusted business partners overseas. They're technically under his mothers' supervision, but they also answer to him. They're not evil, even if they have made it their personal mission between the three of them to get the notorious street artist Sheik and his(her?) little sidekick arrested, mainly just because Sheik keeps leaving street art on their buildings specifically.(Lullaby and Ganon have beef. It's not even big beef, they're just both petty.)
Onyx and Veran also have beef with Legend, not for any good reason even, they just do. He's purposefully annoying whenever he and Lullaby have to be around the three of them, and Ganon genuinely will call off a meeting if he sees Lullaby's pet brat waiting for her.
Then we have Vaati. Vaati is....well, to put it short (pfft), Four's rival. Four is the Mr. Fix-It at the opera but he also dabbles and creates in his own time. Vaati and he met at an expo where Vaati's mentor, Ezlo, took a shine to Four and thus sparked jealousy from his then-student. They're never violent, just extremely aggressively trying to one up each other all the time.
That said, Vaati's actually pretty chill to anyone who's not Four! Although he does tend to flirt with Dot whenever he sees her. His little brother is the opposite: edgy and grouchy to everyone OTHER than Four, although whether that started as a way to piss off his big brother or because he genuinely enjoyed Four's company is yet to be determined. Vaati hates it though, so, either way, mission success!
Zant is just a online troll who likes bashing successful people and tends to target the opera mostly to spite Midna, because he knows her ex and her bestie both work there. The crew actually love reading his posts online though and enjoy laughing at him. He's basically harmless, and while Midna hates it, Twilight loves reading how Zant is going to bash him on any given day.
Yuga is a really shitty art professor at Hilda's art school who likes trying to manipulate her and who Legend and Ravio kinda think is hitting on her. They hate him, she just thinks he's "strange but talented". His art is very unique though, they can't deny it. Ledge signed up to take his class just to keep an eye on him, so Yuga kinda hates his guts now, but also he can't fail him, because Ledge is actually good, so he kinda hates his guts instead and tries to make life difficult for him instead.
As for Cia? She's a fangirl. She's one of the more loud and outspoken fans that Warriors has, and slightly insane? They think? He had to take out a restraining order on her, and she violates it routinely. They don't know what, precisely, was the final straw to make him file for the order, but there is a history of drama there that only newbies don't know not to ask about.
I will say that Octavio is a musician who goes out of his way to point out every flaw or fault the opera has. He could be a critic? Maybe? He's a well regarded musician at any rate and has made his opinions very public. He doesn't damage their reputation a lot, but sometimes he gets on the team's nerves.
Malludus is the ghost that Spirit says is haunting the mechanic shop. He has no proof, he's never seen it, but he swears that it's the reason stuff is always a mess there. Wind's one of the only people who believes him, but he also believes Ravio about the ghosts that the Lorulian says haunt the opera, so....
As for Ghirahim? I'm not sure..... I'm wracking my brain, but I got nothing. Suggestions.

Tonight was actually going alright. 
It’s the first time YN is able to put a stop to the way Harry crawled back into her mind since their break up (it wasn't the first and it surely wouldn't be the last) a few weeks ago. Instead of wallowing the day away in her bed or worse, getting tipsy and drunk calling her ex, she takes up her friend's offer of a fancy night out. She has a close knit group of friends, people she knows from her days first venturing out as a solo artist and some of her dancer friends from her tour crew. 
She’s dolled herself up to the nines. She slipped into a velvet blue dress that whenever she turned, the fabric would have a purple hue to it. It hugs all of her curves the right way, showing off the parts of herself that she loves the most. Her hair is styled up and out of her face with her staple set of rings sparkling across her fingers. 
Going out to dinner—in public in general—can cause an uproar with paparazzi and social media, fans immediately knowing her location before she can even get there herself. 
So it shouldn't come to a surprise that once she gets out of her Range Rover and heads into the fancy restaurant, she immediately has to duck her head down to avoid the blinding flashes from the paparazzi cameras. Moving past and avoiding the crude, invasive questions they scream at her to answer.
What does come as a surprise is while she's in the middle of telling a story to the group, laughing and genuinely enjoying herself, her phone lights up with Mitch’s name popping up on her screen, the sound of a classic old telephone ringtone cuts through the space of the private room they reserved.
Mitch isn't much of a caller, mostly preferring to text his short answers than verbally say them over the phone. 
So after giving her friend group an apologetic look and excusing herself from the table, YN quickly slides her finger across the screen and presses her phone to her ear.
"Mitch?"
"YN, hey I'm so sorry. I don't mean to drop this on you—just give me my keys, Mitchy." As much as he can give her butterflies by merely saying her name, hearing Harry’s voice this time made her stomach drop. 
"Mitch, what's going on?"
"He saw the pap pictures of you going out tonight and...well, he got a bit tipsy." 
No, tipsy Harry didn't sound like that. He didn't sound cuddly and giggly like he usually does when he’s had a few fruit flavored drinks. His words sounded slurred and raspy.
“Where are you?”
“Your house.” 
"I'll be there in 10 minutes." YN doesn’t even think twice about her decision. She’d drop everything and anything when it comes to something concerning Harry, especially when he’s not in the right state of mind like he certainly is now. Whether that be when he’s too much in his head before going on stage, angry to the point of not making rational decisions (a rare one but it still happens), or when he’s too intoxicated to function.
Should it be her job to go after him like this? No. Despite the current state of their romantic relationship, is he still her best friend above all else? Of course. Would Harry do the same if the roles were reversed? In a heartbeat. 
So after having slapped on a smile with a promise to have dinner with them as soon as she can and making sure to have their tab covered, YN drives her foot to the petal in a rush to get home. 
The thoughts running through her mind are going a thousand miles a minute. She’s trying to keep her heart from coming up and out of her throat at the thought of how Harry came to his current state of being for the night. 
Has this happened before? Was Harry suffering as much as she was? How many times has Mitch been the one to take care of Harry when he gets like this? Has he been reaching for the bottle more and more lately?
So instead of letting her anxiety get the best of her, she shakes her head in hopes to clear her mind and begins to mentally prepare herself for seeing Harry again after so long...and that doesn't seem to be helping much either.
“Come on, man. It’s time to go home.” Mitch tries to coax Harry away from YN’s yellow front door.
“Where do you think I am?” Harry glares at his friend before a hiccup shakes his upper half, sticking his hand back out. “Just gimme my—my keys and I can go inside.” 
The headlights from YN’s car shine across Harry’s face and Mitch lets out a sigh of relief at the sight of her coming out of her car.
“What’s going on?” The crease between her eyebrows have been there since she walked out of the restaurant. 
“I’m so sorry for bringing him here. I either had to drive him or he was gonna drive himself.” She spots his drunken pink eyes from where she’s standing and she’s grateful that Harry didn’t go through with his actions. "Haven't been able to get him away from the door."
She wants to ask Mitch all of the questions that have been rushing through her head on the drive over here. 
Has he been able to draw him away from her door in the past?
YN instead swallows back her inquiries and gives her friend a sad smile.
“Thank you, Mitch. You can go now, I got it from here.”
“You sure? M’more than willing to stay and help you.”
“I appreciate it but this is something I need to take care of myself.”
“Please call me if you need anything.” She nods before walking into Mitch’s outreached arms. It’s a quick hug with an even quicker kiss to the cheek but it has Harry groaning from where he’s leaning against the door.
“You too, Mitchy?” He slurs out in a high-pitched, whiny tone.
If it were under different circumstances, she’d probably think further about how cute the nickname is for their oh-so-serious friend but right now, it only has her rolling her eyes. She grabs his hand and replaces Harry’s car keys with hers.
“Take my car. I’ll drive him back tomorrow.” 
After some hesitation and one final look over to Harry’s slouched figure, Mitch reluctantly nods before getting in her car and pulling out of the driveway.
When she sees the car’s tail lights disappear after turning a corner, she takes in a deep breath in preparation of what’s to come. She doesn’t look at Harry as she approaches the door, quickly finding her house key to push it through the lock.
“Hey, lovie.” Harry gives her a cheeky smile, happy that he got his way and she’s here with him. She’s trying her hardest to not let her anger come through, there’s no use in trying to argue when he’s in this state. 
But he pulls at her last straw when he slurs out a “Y’look so beautiful,” and attempts to tuck a piece of hair behind her ear only to be pushed away by her dismissive hand. He almost trips over his own feet once the door is pushed open, unable to steady himself. 
He’s a literal child with an even childish attitude.
“You’re an arrogant son of a bitch.” YN spits out while she leads his drunk body inside her house. All of his weight leaning on her as they both stumble inside. “You know that don’t you?”
“I know, baby. M’sorry.” Harry's words slur as they tumble out of his mouth. His head leans on hers and the smell of alcohol on his breath almost causes her to gag. 
“Don’t call me that.” YN snaps at him as she drops his body on her couch. His shoulders slouch against the back of the couch and he can barely hold his head up. 
“Right. I forgot that you, you just want to be friends.” Harry takes in a deep breath and closes his eyes. He furrowed his eyebrows before saying, “M’sorry baby.”
“Don’t call me that,” YN repeats herself. “I mean it.” 
Walking over to her fireplace, she takes out a match from the little box before scrapping it against the rough surface on the side. Once there’s a small fire, she brings it down to one of the candles on the mantle in hopes to mask the drunken smell from her ex’s breath. She makes a small circle with her lips, her cheeks puff out for merely a second as she blows out the small flame. 
“I see your face everywhere I go." Harry's words slur behind her. "You’re just...everywhere.” 
YN looks over her shoulder to her ex, her best friend. She doesn’t say anything, not trusting her own voice or the words that want to push past her lips.
She can’t attempt to explain her feelings now, not when he’s like this. She can’t tell him that she sees him, too. That there isn't a day that goes by where she doesn’t hear his name, hear his song play on the radio, or get asked questions about him when she’s being interviewed on national television.
Instead, she walks past his limp body on her couch and goes into her kitchen to get him a glass of water. The sound of her heels clicking against her hardwood floors ring loudly through his ears. It's almost painful to hear, but he welcomes the noise over the silence.
“Did you ever really love me?” He whimpers out, so quietly that she might have missed it if she wasn't listening carefully.
Why would he ask such a thing? 
She knows he would never have the courage to ask her this when he’s sober, so there’s no harm in answering him truthfully if there’s a high chance he won’t remember anything in the morning, right?
When she walks back over to him, she almost can’t look into his wide, pink eyes. “Loving you was torture,” She looks down at the glass in her hands. “But I enjoyed every second of it.”
She can’t really read his facial expression. In a way, that gives her some comfort. She doesn’t want to know his response or what his answer would be to the question. 
“Here, drink up.” YN says, handing him the glass.
“You’re too good for me,” He says into the rim of the cup before taking a generous gulp. “Don’t deserve yeh.”
She sits on the coffee table in front of him and takes off her heels. So much for dressing up tonight. 
“I meant it when I said you look beautiful tonight.”
“Why are you here, Harry?” YN steers away from his question. She feels the irritation radiate through her body when she sees him raise a shoulder to his ear, turning the empty glass between his hands.
“Now you don’t have anything to say?” She hates the way the words taste on her tongue. It’s like she’s scolding a child, trying to sway an answer out of him.
“M’sorry.” He murmurs out, his chin to his chest.
“What are you sorry for?” She’s almost seeing red at this point as Harry lifts his shoulders in a shrug once more. 
She didn’t need to do this. She could have still been sitting with her friends back in that restaurant, laughing and drinking the night away.
She cares for Harry, more than she’d like to admit. It hurts her to see him this way but she cannot—will not—stand for his childish behavior.
“Don’t apologize if you don’t even know why you’re doing it, Harry. Apologize when you actually mean it.” YN takes in a deep breath, her voice breaking at the end. 
When she’s met with silence, she wordlessly nods with her lips in a tight line. “Good night, Harry.”
“Please, please don’t go.” She’s just about to ignore his plea, ready to just go to bed and deal with him in the morning. But her heart breaks in two at the sound of a sob erupting from his chest. “I c-can’t be a-alone.” 
His chest quickly begins to rise up and down, his eyes wide and filled with panic. 
Throughout the years of knowing him, she can count the number of times she's seen him like this on one hand. He's not merely her drunken ex, he's her broken best friend.
“Hey, hey. Shush. It’s alright. M’right here.” YN quickly sits on the couch next to him and wraps her arms around his shaky body. 
“Don’t wanna—can’t be alone.” He whispers into the crook of her neck, mushing his body as close to hers as he possibly can. “M’so sorry, lovie.”
She’s not quite sure what in particular he’s apologizing for, she's not even sure he knows why, but she doesn’t want to question him right now.
“M’right here. We’ll be alright, H. We always are and always will be.” YN rakes her fingers through his curly locks, smoothing him until he’s calmed down and his breathing evens out. 
She doesn’t know how long they’ve stayed like this, 10 minutes, an hour? All she knows is that while he’s asleep with his head on her lap, she’s not gonna shut her eyes any time soon, too wired from tonight’s events to even consider sleeping as an option.
“We’ll be alright.” YN breathes out into her living room, continuing to rake her fingers gently over his scalp. 
...
"Read ‘em and weep, boys." YN says in excitement as she lays her cards down on the patio table, displaying her winning hand.
The men around the table groan as they throw down their playing cards in the middle of the table.
“What!” Jeff stands up and leans over the wooden table to get a good look at her cards, disbelief written all over his face. Harry chuckles into the rim of his glass as she does a little dance in her seat before sliding the candy she won towards her. 
After spending a couple of days finishing up Canyon Moon and touching up on some of the previous songs they’ve created, the group decided to spend the night outside in the backyard patio that looks out to their secluded beach. Music plays in the background through the built-in speakers within the luxurious shade structure that covers the majority of the huge porch. Soft yellow fairy lights hang all along the branched roof of the shade, casting light over the group as they eat dinner, have a couple of drinks and play a friendly game of poker. 
Well, as friendly as a game can be when there are multiple competitive people playing.
"Alright, who needs a refill?" Harry asks and everyone raises up their glasses. 
YN quickly finishes off the rest of her drink before handing the glass back to Harry. She's getting a little buzzed, everyone is, and it’s all that the group needs after a long day in the studio. 
“Can I have extra strawberries in mine please?” She asks sweetly.
“You got it, baby.” Harry taps the underside of her chin with his curled index finger before swinging his leg over the bench they’re sat on. “Be back in a minute.”
Tyler helps Harry collect everyone's cups before both of them head off inside.
"Needa hit what you English folk call the loo." Kid says, getting up from his seat.
“I shall do the same.” Jeff playfully points to YN. “When I get back, I want a re-match, missy.”
“Give it a rest, mate. Just hate seeing you loose.” She snickers at Harry’s manager, giggling when he takes a dramatic offense to her words by putting a hand to his chest.
“Ok, I was just going e-easy on you this last round." He hiccups. "Prepare to face defeat.”
YN just rolls her eyes as she watches the man scurry off inside the house.
“And then there were two.” She teases at the guitarist sitting across from her.
"Hey, I uh actually wanted to ask you something." Mitch says, not meeting her eyes as he collects everyones cards.
"Sorry mate, but I don't think Sarah would like the idea of us going out on a date." YN smirks before popping a sweet into her mouth, giving her friend a cheeky smile.
"Gross. Like I'd ever want to go out with you." Her jaw drops in a scoff, chucking a wrapped piece of candy at her friend.
"Oi! I'm a total catch. Thank you very much.” Mitch gives her a small smile at her laugh. 
When they first met, it honestly took a bit for her to figure him out and have him open up. He wasn’t a fan of Harry and YN’s music when they were in One Direction, not being familiar with their work was more of a positive thing than it was a negative.
Harry, being Harry, loves to welcome in new friends and people he works with with open arms, talking with them like they’ve known each other for years. It’s especially fun to watch their relations blossom. Harry, the social butterfly, with Mitch, the introvert.
With YN, she’s learned that they mostly connect over music. Playing and knowing about guitars is one of the great loves of her life. Sometimes over breaks on tour or casual meet ups, the two enjoy breaking out their preferred instruments and have a relaxed jamming session. 
It took her a while to realize that his lack of conversation didn’t mean he was bored or disinterested in the topic, he was constantly listening. He spoke through his music and what an honor it was to hear what he had to say with his guitar.
It’s no wonder why her and Harry were so excited and giddy to see how Mitch and Sarah’s relationship has grown. Ms Jones has a grip on the guitarist like no one else has. 
Mitch has definitely come out of his shell more and more each time YN sees him. His small, barely there smile, like the one he has now, lets her know that he’s having a good time.
“Okay, okay. What's up?" YN says after she’s calmed down a bit. There’s a pregnant pause between the two before he breaks the silence.
"You alright? Everything good with you?"
Well that wasn't what she expected him to ask.
"Yeah, totally. Why do you ask?"
“It’s just, it's starting to get really obvious that all the songs are about you in some way shape or form.”
“I would respectfully disagree.” YN leans her elbows on the table, twisting a candy wrapper through her fingers. She knows she’s lying but how does one respond to something like that? When she looks up at Mitch, he’s giving her a knowing look. “What?”
“You’re really going to make me say it.”
“Say what?”
"Him always referring to you being golden."
YN lifts a shoulder to her ear. "That could mean anything—"
"Him wanting to adore you while you obviously are against the idea of adoring anyone."
"A lot of people feel that way."
"Your voice memo is literally in one of the songs."
"Well, that was my idea to do that."
"And how he literally added your manager's name in this last song."
"A lot of people are named Jenny. People aren't gonna know the difference. It's like Diana, or Olivia or Townes."
Okay, she knows that last one was a bit of a stretch but she has a point to make nonetheless.
Mitch looks to her with a squint of his eyes. "...what does that even mean?"
She squints her eyes back at him, leaning further onto the table.
"Still haven't listened to a One Direction song, huh?"
"Except for the ones he makes me play?" YN lets out a laugh and sees a small smile growing on his lips. It is quite funny to see Mitch, a very serious musician—from the way he plays to his facial expressions—play a song that had every preteen girl's hearts throbbing in 2010.
"He's just...writing from a place of personal experience. I've done it plenty and it's not a crime for him to do so either. Critics and fans and social media are always gonna speculate what each song means. It wouldn't be the first time and it's for sure not gonna be the last.” She gives him a dismissive wave of her hand. “He's gonna be fine."
"It's not him I'm concerned about here though." Her furrowed eyes are enough for him to continue. "I mean, of course I'm worried about him because even though Golden sounds like rainbows and sunshine, it's a depressing song. A song about you. Just wanna make sure that you're okay with everything that's happening. Know that Cherry took a little bit out of you.”
She has to admit, Mitch’s words bring her in for a bit of a surprise. He’s not one to usually talk about stuff like this, making sure that she’s emotionally alright for making this album—for being around her ex, their friend, in this way. She expects something like this to come from her other close friends, the situation certainly calls for some speculation and reassurance from an outsider’s perspective. 
So it warms her heart to know that Mitchell Rowland, the most quiet and reserved man she’s ever met, went out of his way to ask her if she’s ok. 
“Thanks for the concern, buddy. I know my limits, yeh know? Wouldn’t be here if I wasn't totally comfortable and if I happen to be then I'll be on my way.”
Mitch nods before going back to the stack of cards in his hands. 
Although she doesn’t want to make a big deal out of his concern, as she knows it will only ruin the moment, she honestly couldn’t be bothered with wanting to hold back from showing her affection for the man across from her. 
So while he shuffles and mixes the cards, she walks around the other side of the table, swings her leg over his bench to face him and wraps her arms around his shoulders. It takes a second but Mitch eventually turns his body to hers, brings his arms around her torso, and reciprocates the friendly sentiment. 
“I appreciate you,” She says into his shoulder, smiling when she feels his hand rub circles around her back before feeling his lips press a friendly kiss to her temple. 
"Love you." The rough texture of his facial hair rubs against her skin.
"Love you, too." 
After a beat, he pulls his head back slightly before saying, “Don’t get it twisted, you’re still annoying.” 
YN lets out a laugh over his shoulder, hearing the knowing smile on his face.
“Duly noted.”
"What's goin' on?" YN looks up to see Harry standing by the doorway with an array of drinks on a tray. 
"Just letting Mitch in on my secret to winning poker." He knows she’s lying, but decides not to pry and shake off the weird feeling in his stomach.
"Oh yeah? Gonna tell me?" Harry says as he sets down everyone’s drinks.
"Sworn into secrecy dude.”
When Mitch looks back to YN, they quietly chuckle to each other like there’s an inside joke he clearly was not part of. Before Harry can say anything, the sound of a clap behind him knocks him from his thoughts.
"Are you ready to face the wrath that is Jeffery Azoff?"
Harry doesn't mind that YN stays seated next to Mitch for the rest of the night. Moreso, he doesn’t want to mind it. He obviously knows that nothing romantic will go on between his friends, but he can’t help the jealousy crawling under his skin. 
Especially when he watches her lean into Mitch, whispering in each other’s ears. Or when she puts a hand on his arm as she points out something in his card deck. The two, smiling and occasionally laughing between their candy bets.
He knows that he shouldn’t be bothered by it and maybe he’s just bothered that she’s not bothered by what’s been going on. After their shared kisses back at her place a couple of days ago, she hasn’t brought it up. To be fair, neither has he, but somewhere inside him hoped that she would. He knows she’s not one to usually shy away from vocalizing something that’s eating away at her.
Maybe this is her way of telling him that she really doesn’t want anything more than a friendship with him, that it’s all one sided. Maybe she was able to hear his worried thoughts about that drunken night earlier this year and has decided that it was too much for her. Who can blame her?
“What's on your mind?” YN bumps her hip with Harry’s as he’s arms deep in washing the dishes from tonight. His manager and the other producers have gone to bed, too tipsy to keep their eyes open any longer. Mitch helps put away all the leftover food made as the two take over dish duty.
He decides to answer her truthfully and hands her another plate to dry. “I'm confused.”
“About?” She softly questions, wiping the dish cloth over the plate.
“Can’t really pinpoint it, to be honest.” 
"Well you know what that means." YN sighs out as she puts away the dishware, giving him a small smile afterwards.
"And what's that?" When he hands her another plate, he tries not to concentrate on the lingering touch of her fingers brushing against his.
"You're gonna have to write about it."
It took Harry less than 30 minutes to complete the lyrics for the song. YN didn’t really know what to expect from the new song but after hearing Harry off-handedly sing it to her, she’s come to the realization that he remembered a lot more of that drunken night than she expected him to.

He was a bit hesitant to share the song with her at first and rightfully so. Music is the best way that the both of them are able to communicate their feelings, whether it be to one another or not.

Not only was Harry able to figure out his feelings from that night, but she’s surprised to see how aware he was of what happened. It makes her second guess whether he really was out of it that night or not.

It's hard for me to go home
Be so lonely
Was this Harry finally giving up on her? On their back and forth relationship? Was this cat and mouse game coming to its enviable end?
I just hope you see me in a little better light

Stubborn. It's one if the—if not the first—word that Harry would use to describe YN. Knowing her for as long as he has, he knows that despite all her media training, she's a stubborn little thing to anyone or anything. He knows that while he walks around with an ego too big to fit through the door, her's comes in at a close second. 
It's part of the reason why she doesn't tell him that his jealousy, his possessiveness, is equally shared.

And this is it, so I'm sorry
“I think this song is a really good example of showing how you can be in a room full of people but still feel lonely.” YN fidgets with the rings on her fingers, knowing that feeling all too well. "You can sort of seem fine on the outside, have the world in the palm of your hand, but there's a whole 'nother thing going on that people don't see."
Her lips tug up to a soft smile. “Harry wrote this song quite quickly. It was the putting it all together part that really threw us in for a loop.”
"What if you just do the song as an acapella?" YN suggests only for Harry to groan into his hands. 
YN, Harry, and Mitch are seated around each other in the recording room. To Be So Lonely’s lyrics have been completed, it kind of wrote itself to be honest, but it was the instrumental portion of the song that has stumped the artists. 
Mitch is on one of the stools with an acoustic guitar,  Harry sits in front of the piano and YN sits comfortably on the floor with her guitalele on her lap. 
“They’re [guitalele] really good for writing on, because you can travel with them. I had one of those with me in Japan, so they’re really good for spur-of-the-moment ideas.” Harry says with a nod. “YN uses them quite often and they have a sort of unique sound to ‘em that we both really like.”
It’s well into the hours of the night and for the past few hours, the three of them have been trying out various melodies for the song; a ballad, a pop song, alternative rock. Nothing seems to stick.
“I can’t make any good songs.” Harry whines into his hands before bringing them up to rake through his hair.
“Alright, chill out.” YN looks at her frustrated friend with a pointed look, ready to not let him go into this self-deprecating state of mind. “I have a couple of voice notes on my phone with some melodies I came up with on the cuff. There’s got to be something on there that we can use, ok?”
Once she sees Harry give her a nod, she goes around to pat her pockets.
“Hey, has anyone seen my phone? Can someone call me?”
“I got it.” After a couple of clicks on Mitch’s phone, the sound of her classic telephone ringtone sounds somewhere behind her. Crawling over to the spot where her phone lies, she unlocks it with a quick type of her password.
“That’s your ringtone for me? Y’make it sound like an old man’s calling you.”
“I mean, you are pushing 31, mate.” She teases, still looking through her notes.
As Mitch is about to throw a witty comeback, an idea suddenly comes to mind.
“Wait, did you have that same ringtone when I called you that night?”
“Haven’t changed it since I met you. Why?” 
“Can I see that for a sec?" Mitch makes a beckoning motion with his hand at her guitalele in her lap. 
“If you think I’m changing it now, you are sadly mistaken, my friend.” 
Mitch doesn’t respond, instead he does a couple of experimental pucks on the strings. His eyebrows are furrowed, like he's trying to find the right key. 
YN just looks at him lazily, her eyelids feeling heavy as she slowly blinks at Mitch, tired from tonight's brainstorming session.
With a sigh, she goes back to her voice notes and as she's about to hit play on one, she hears Mitch pluck some notes at the base before strumming his finger quickly up and down the strings, ending it with a tap on the wood and repeating the melody.  
Harry’s head lifts from its position resting on top of the piano before looking to YN. She turns her gaze from their friend to Harry and no words need to be exchanged. It’s been decided.
The classic telephone ringtone.
“Mitch has a habit of not speaking a lot, and then every now and again he will kinda go like ‘Oh, I have this idea.’” Harry chuckles. “He’s really just a genius. The song is just really like articulation of Mitch’s brain. Even when Mitch plays to himself, he’s got the swing.”

Do you have any tips for the beginners artist? Are there any good books? Videos? You're so talented, so I was just wondering
surely there are good resources but im not good to ask for that cuz i never really did any formal art training and i mostly hate any vids or books about this. personally a lot of art guide stuff feels too forceful in what they think is right and trying to get u to do it like they do which can ruin your mind and make ur art boring as fuck. theres a lot of established art theory that is very useful and makes ur stuff better, but personally diving straight into learning all of it all the time is just not interesting to me so i dont do it. as a result im still a novice in a lot of the technical aspects of art liek anatomy shadows whatever but i think im good at the conceptual. and i just draw conceptual stuff and whenever something comes up like i get recommended a youtube tutorial for color theory or something about values and im in the mood for it i watch it and try and integrate but i really dont stress about aquiring all that stuff and u dont need to either that hard.
i think every artist ever will tell you that the best thing to learn it is just doing it even if it sucks a little and im sorry but i will say the same thing. howeverrrrrrrrr i think something new i can add is redraw a lot. i dont know if this works for everybody but it does for me. i very rarely ever draw stuff off of photo references or things infront of me other than if i need an object in a pic. but for practice i like picking out a lot of "finished" art i like and then redraw it fast and turn it into my own thing halfway thru. a lot of the time i notice little things that the artist did, that i wouldnt normally do and that stuff just sticks in my memory for forever and can potentially integrate itself into future pics. and cuz ur doing it off artists that u like u r not being pressured into directions that dont fit ur heart, but stuff u look up to anyways. i dont post these redraws cuz they arent distinct enough to warrant it but heres an example

Am I allowed to ask a longer question? (Take your time to answer. You're probably busy, aren't you?) You recently reblogged that post about Raffles not-being Edwardian. Why do you think that is important?
Of course! And as you see, I did take a good bit of time to answer - thank you for your patience. I have been very busy lately, but actually for mostly Raffles related reasons for once!
I do think that is very important if you want to get to the core of these stories, which is why it irks me whenever people toss the word "Edwardian" in there, and I believe that Hornung was very aware of the importance of it when he wrote them. To get to that core, we need to look at a theme that is very prominent in the Raffles stories: aestheticism.
Aestheticism was a movement that grew throughout the 1800s and reached its peak in Britain in the later part of the 1800s. The general idea was to separate art from morality and ethics; that art should be created for beauty and not for teaching morals - "art for art's sake". The movement took shape in most art forms and a had mainstream success in for example home decorating and furniture, but at the same time did not sit well with traditional Victorians, to whom art was very much entangled with morality. By the 1880s, the "aesthete" had become a character familiar enough to be parodied, such as illustrator George du Maurier did for Punch magazine in a number of illustrations during this time period.

One of the most important aesthetes in the 1880s and '90s was of course Oscar Wilde. With his writings, his speeches, the way he dressed and the way he lived his life in London society — including his "deviant" sexual life — he was pretty much the embodiment of the aesthetic movement (as well as of the decadent movement, which by the 1890s had become nearly synonymous with it). With the scandal of his conviction and imprisonment, the movement became more dangerous to be associated with, and more or less died out at the end of the century.

Now, Hornung very clearly paints Raffles as an aesthete. That is not something you might manage to painstakingly dig out through hours of deep analysis of the text - he very plainly lays it out in the first part of the very first story. While Raffles is pacing the floor contemplating how to solve Bunny's situation, Bunny is observing the state of Raffles' rooms and gives the reader a clear idea of his character:
"It was charmingly furnished and arranged, with the right amount of negligence and the right amount of taste. What struck me most, however, was the absence of the usual insignia of a cricketer’s den. Instead of the conventional rack of war-worn bats, a carved oak bookcase, with every shelf in a litter, filled the better part of one wall; and where I looked for cricketing groups, I found reproductions of such works as “Love and Death” and “The Blessed Damozel,” in dusty frames and different parallels. The man might have been a minor poet instead of an athlete of the first water. But there had always been a fine streak of aestheticism in his complex composition." ("The Ides of March", 1898)
Here Hornung uses the word "aestheticism", referring specifically to the art movement. In the next story, he has Raffles associate himself with it again:
"Does the writer only write when the wolf is at the door? Does the painter paint for bread alone? Must you and I be driven to crime like Tom of Bow and Dick of Whitechapel? You pain me, my dear chap; you needn’t laugh, because you do. Art for art’s sake is a vile catchword, but I confess it appeals to me." ("A Costume Piece", 1898)
Raffles is an artist, first and foremost. His cricketing is a cover: the amateur cricket player is the ultimate English gentleman, and so he cannot possibly be anything else! He is not driven to a life of crime because of poverty, or because of some tragic back story. "Cracking cribs" is his form of art, and it is "l'art pour l'art" all the way.
"Why should I work when I could steal? Why settle down to some humdrum uncongenial billet, when excitement, romance, danger and a decent living were all going begging together?" ("The Ides of March", 1898)
In other words: he very well could make a living in some other, conventional way, but that would not be exciting and romantic enough. Furthermore, it would not be in line with his character. In "A Costume Piece" he attempts to steal the purple diamonds not because, as Bunny puts it, there is any "necessity" for it, but because it is so tangled up with what he is that he simply cannot pass up the opportunity: "If I don’t have a try for them—after tonight—I shall never be able to hold up my head again."
Additionally, Hornung makes some rather striking parallels between Raffles' life and the life of Oscar Wilde. It is assumed but not confirmed that Wilde was a friend of Hornung; at least they moved in the same circles. In either case, there is no way to ignore the parallels Hornung drew. There are of course the similarities in appearance and character: clean shaven features, longish hair, charisma, a great talker, appreciation for beautiful things. (Add to this the young, fair-haired and also clean shaven writer companion with a temper and a cricket themed nickname). But then we have the facts (which I have laid out before) of Raffles and Bunny and Wilde all being arrested and facing their downfall in the spring of 1895; of Bunny going to prison and when he comes out, writes a series of articles on prison life, just like Wilde did; of Raffles taking the name of "Mr Maturin" when he comes back to London, while Wilde took the alias of "Melmoth" when he went into exile (author Charles Maturin was Wilde's great uncle, who wrote the gothic novel Melmoth the Wanderer - if any of the other points are negotiable, at least that last one would be purely ignorant to brush off as a coincidence). Hornung knew what he was doing, and he did it subtly but clearly. I for one often wonder if when Conan Doyle said the stories were "dangerous in their suggestion", he wasn't talking less about burgling and more about these themes they were so entwined with; because at the point of the first publication of Raffles, the aesthetic movement was rather dangerous to be associated with. The references to Wilde could on their own perhaps be seen as a mere tribute to a (possible) friend, but in the context of their time and in how Raffles is portrayed as a character, they become more significant.
Wilde is released from prison in 1897 (again, same year Bunny is released from prison and Raffles returns to London), and lives in exile for a few years before dying in Paris in 1900. Raffles and Bunny live in Ham Common before joining the Boer war; Raffles dies on the battlefield in 1900. Around the same time, aestheticism as a movement dies out as well. The fin-de-siècle era is over, and the Victorian era comes to an end with the death of the queen in early 1901.
I do not think it was a coincidence that Hornung had Raffles die along with the essence of the world he was a product of. Therefore, tossing the word "Edwardian" in there as a descriptor of the series seems to me to be careless and completely missing the point. Bunny lives on in the Edwardian era, but aside from a few very brief glimpses of his life there, the life he lead with Raffles was solely in the fin-de-siècle.
The TV series is also often described as Edwardian, but this is also not correct. The 14 episodes makes a point of staying in the Victorian era, whether or not this was considered important in the way I have described above. I don't know if one or another Edwardian trinket has snuck in there, but it is definitely still the 1800s by the final episode: in "An Old Flame" Raffles complains about wanting to "stay in the privacy of the 19th century for as long as possible", to which Bunny retorts "You haven't got long left". Philip Mackie's unpublished script for "Le Premier Pas" for the second series that was never produced actually takes place on Christmas 1899, "the last Christmas of the old century", confirming that the first series definitely was meant to be all Victorian. (The new series probably would have gone into the 1900s, but where it would have ended is anyone's guess, and is rather irrelevant since it was never actually made.) Just to what extent this was considered significant for the overall story and tone of the TV series, I cannot say (though I am actually doing some research on just that currently), but the point is that the TV series also is, in fact, Victorian and not Edwardian. Some other adaptations have of course broken the Victorian rule, but that is a whole other discussion.
In short: if you want to be true to Hornung's Raffles, the late Victorian era is rather a key element.
For anyone who wants to read more about Raffles and aestheticism (and can get access), I can highly recommend an academic article I have read recently by D. Michael Jones, called “E. W. Hornung’s Raffles and the English Aesthetic Movement: The Rhetoric of Romance Masculinity” (2016). I especially thought his take on the dynamic between Raffles and Bunny was really interesting. Also he kinda made me cry cause some of the things he said about Raffles was so spot on. Another relevant one is “Wilde Words: The Aesthetics of Crime and the Play of Genre in E. W. Hornung’s Raffles Stories” by Lee O'Brien (2015).

watched raw because of your au art and its officially one of my fave movies of all time, would love to see or hear more about it from your perspective. especially how your au differs from the movie canon, specifically regarding the differences between justine + alexia's symbolism of family/generational trauma and what i assume would be the more homoerotic subtones of the kizashige version. if you hoard this ask pls also know that you're my fave artist and i look forward to every post of yours!! i hope you have a great day

I've thought of other kizashige aus based off media where they're siblings in the source material (ginger snaps), I mostly just get inspired by specific scenes and character traits rather than ever making an au 1:1. with raw specifically, it was a lot of alexia being the one to guide justine through two separate, yet very intertwined worlds.
alexia is the one who guides justine into fitting in with the rest of her peers even if it meant doing extreme and humiliating things because she had to do the same. she also guides justine through her cannibalistic urges by trying to teach her how to kill and feed and never get caught. alexia knows the ins-and-outs of what she needs to do to survive, both socially and physically, which reminded me a lot of kizami and his ability to mask successfully. the only difference being that alexia revels in the social aspect, rather than resenting the effort it takes like kizami does.
meanwhile, justine never learns either and fails to assimilate in her new social life and fails at being able to navigate her urges. how much that reminded me of morishige is pretty obvious.
the familial aspect of the movie is definitely incredibly important, but I also don't think they need to be literal siblings either for the concept to work and my aus are mostly about the bigger picture of a concept. the two scenes I redrew where alexia takes a bite out of justine's cheek, and later on where she's the one cleaning and taking care of the very same wound she inflicted really stood out to me. it shows that even when they hurt each other, at the end of the day they're still sisters. for me, it's reminiscent of how I interpret kizashige where the push and pull between them can culminate into something so violent and painful, but they still will always have that connection with each other. focusing on that juxtaposition of violence and tenderness that I see a lot in kizashige.

That's uh, 🤭 ha! anyway-
Artists, don't read. I'm in my discouraged phase, which won't help you. art-ramble;
I don't think it was meant to be insulting or anything? Although it was. The very obvious ones I can mostly just ignore. It's just that they brought up something I always used to say in the beginning of my art journey which meant that basically my entire reason to draw or the years of work I put in is now pointless and unnecessary... When I started drawing I practiced a lot of realism (though not photo-realism) in order to learn lighting and colors because I had no clue how else to do it. And so, a lot of my art from a while ago looks.... very rendered. For some of them people always said 'it looked so real!' and I thought I was on the right track. Honestly I had no idea what I was doing, so, comments are basically my only feedback anyway. My dream in the beginning was to be able to "draw my favorite characters, but make it come more alive" by adding hints of realism onto the 2D. I was nowhere near where I wanted to go though, but... ah~ I had a vision. An idea of the art that I wanted to make and I voiced it every chance I could because people irl think whatever I do is ridiculous anyway because "drawing will get you nowhere" etc-. Things have changed in my style of course, I have a different goal, but uh... a lot of generated images which pop up, stolen from artists, hundreds/thousands a day without any work or effort by the prompt-typing-generator-people whatsoever, are generally- (the ones you recognize as definite AI.jpg's)- in a type of style that's very close to what I had in mind and wanted to achieve... ;~; It's hard to admit because I know they're very smug about it all, but it's the truth. And so this person was rubbing this fact into my face, which, fair enough because I did openly state my dream, but they kept mocking the amount of effort I put in and then swore they'd make better art within 3 days instead of my 3 years and that I'm better off finding some "other hobby". Meh. Everything 'art' is just very discouraging these days. Whenever I have a new idea/inspiration there's already something generated like it which suddenly leaves me without any. People have pulled my Gaara and Sasuke/Itachi art through the generator and the result apparently has done really well on their account(s) which is infuriating especially because it does look more polished 😣 and on top of that, everyone keeps reuploading my art on their socials and not a single damn platform is taking the forms, I have to take time for to fill in because I keep getting ignored by the art-reposters, send in seriously. Like what's the point then. ... is what I thought. But I'll get over it :')! The comments from this person were unnecessary, rude and uncalled for, but not wrong. And that's a bitter pill to swallow honestly. Or more like, impossible.

Kanade is surprisingly calm playing any games outside from horror, and she is rarely taunted by the enraging side of competitive luck based ones like Mario party. If Mafuyu wasn't there, she'd probably be the most calm!
She is a follower of the 'its just a game' mentality, and that just makes it harder to get her to react strongly to anything this game can throw at her! That does diminish the excitement though...
That being said, the kindness of her words and actions, no matter outside the game or not, makes it hard for anyone to target her as a victim of mini games or thefts! She's just too nice to take advantage of!
But if anyone does, they better be ready for the others to gang up on whoever tries to ruin the soft angel's plans! Especially with players like the artist and the video editor! How dare they!
"A-ah, wait, you don't really need to steal from them that much... I understand that they did the same to me, but isn't that how you play this game? ... Because it's me? I'm sorry, I don't think I get it..."
In the end, the composer is one of the players that wins the most, mainly because everyone almost always stays out of her way, and only luck can decide if she wins or not! Without the interference of others, it's not hard to see her winning games!

The one that never reacts to anything. Not just because she has a resistance, but because she doesn't understand the point of a luck based game. Fun? What's that?
She especially has problems thinking about why this game makes it so easy to let your plans and strategies come tumbling down, be that because of luck or someone else's actions.
The realization of the nature of a troll game never really sets in, and she mostly just plays to try to win, even with all of the signs of a casual game to just mess with your friends. Yeah, Mafuyu doesn't get the vibe...
Eventually, she decides to just opt out and watch, which is a decision that will become pretty frequently in these game nights. Maybe try to get her to play less rng based games next time?
"So, it just changes your position with another player you can't even choose? That's stupid. It's low price, but i don't see why you would even bother in the first place. Am I ruining the mood? Oh. I still don't get it."
When she does play, she does a pretty good job ending in 2nd or 1st, but without her on the playing board, nothing can really be predicted. At least she gives advice whenever they ask for their opinion...?

The worst rager. By far. Ena already gets angry at two of her partners, so at a game that has a history of destroying friendships with pure luck? Yeah she'll be screaming at the screen sooner than later.
At first she is fooled by the friendly and lightheaded looks of the game, and assumes that this is just going to be relaxing and enjoyable! Boy is she wrong.
The moment she realizes just how bad this game gets is when she first misses her star because of a bad roll, and then all of the wonder she had for this game is immediately gone, vanishing in the wind.
She will get angry at this game, at its luck based strategies, at its seemingly random and confusing mini games, at the thieves of coins and stars. Combined with the fact that she just wanted a normal game to wind down from work, and...
"Oh, COME ON!! A one?? Really? As soon as I'm about to turn things around and create an opportunity to win this game refuses to give it to me?? What is this, a psychological experiment??"
Her placements are never the same, sometimes she does luck out and wins, sometimes she loses by a few coins. The worst thing is that no matter what, she'll always be just a tad bit away from a different placement...

The worst(Best?) troll. They get so much enjoyment out of messing with their dear artist friend, so making them play a game that's meant to infuriate the ones playing them is like their home turf.
As soon as they play the first turn they immediately understand and synchronize with the game. The luck, the unfairness, everything! It all clicks at once, and the grin that appears on their face already spells danger...
It won't take long for them to start creating strategies and using items not to win, but instead to screw with the others! Especially Ena. Actually, screw with only Ena, probably.
Why? Well, the composer is too sweet, and the lyrics writer probably wouldn't even react, so that leaves only one person left to mess with throughout the entire game!
"Oh, whoops! Looks like that star is going somewhere else! Hehe, a bit too late there, huh Ena?? Aww, don't get so mad! As Mafuyu says, it's just a game, isn't it?? Hehe, I can't get enough of your reactions! It's so much fun!"
They honestly couldn't care less about their actual placements! As long as they get to do some tomfoolery, they don't care about winning or losing a single bit!
