Fushiguro Megumi: For Her
Content: Wife AU, Mother AU, Sorcerer AU, Fluff
Synopsis: You and Megumi are happily married and have a son. One evening, while returning home from a mission, you check the baby cams and find your dear husband making your favorite food, struggling but motivating himself by saying it's for you.
Word count: 1K
Being a wife and a mother, you already have an overwhelming amount of duties but the higher-ups of the Jujutsu society did not sympathize with you. Nanami-san was right, even being a Grade 3 sorcerer, you were worked to the bone and barely rewarded.
Right now, you were returning home from a 2-day long mission Principal Yaga had sent you on, saying, "Only you can do it". You worry about how Megumi and your son did in those two days without you and sigh. Consequently, you pick up your phone to moniter the various baby cams set up in different rooms throughout the house.
Living room-messy and unoccupied; Bedroom-the bed had been made and the desk was tidy; Kitchen-*you gasp*, h-huh..?
What you saw made your heart miss a beat. Your son was securely sitting in his baby chair while Megumi stood at the counter with immaculate focus, his brows furrowed and his tongue poking out. His long, lean fingers preoccupied themselves in slitting tomatoes on the chopping board, on the side of which a few other chopped herbs were set. His concentration made you wonder what he was cooking that possibly required this much precision.
A glance to his left gave you the answer. The strainer, bottle of olive oil and cheese all indicated that he was making your favorite pasta. You rarely made it because of the extensive process and duration of preparing it and could not remember the last time you ate it. His close proximity to the stove made him wipe off his sweat with the back of his hand.
Next, he slid the tomatoes to a side and started chopping onions. Within a minute, his eyes started watering, but he continued while squinting them. Exactly then, the sensitive year-old started crying and he panicked. He instantly dropped the knife, however, before consoling the baby, washed his hands twice. This said a lot about him as a father. As he picked up your son and cooed words of comfort, your heart clenched. You had certainly chosen the right man.
Megumi walked out the kitchen with your son in his arms and you switched to the living room baby cam. Once the baby quieted, he sat him down on the thickly padded baby mat where all his toys lay scattered and said, "Play, Papa will be back in a while." The infant seemed to understand but babbled, "Mama?", as if inquiring. He looked at his son, touching his cheek and silently adoring him for a bit before explaining, "Yeah, for her, it's for mama." and left the baby alone to entertain itself.
Back in the kitchen, his eyes widened and his breathing grew erratic experiencing the pasta he had worked so hard in making, almost burn. Fortunately, he rescued it in time and completed crafting the delicacy by pureeing and adding the tomatoes and onions to the boiled and fried pasta. Then, he plated and garnished it with the herbs. Placing the two plates aside and cleaning up the kitchen, he went to the living room to retrieve his phone and call you.
You receive his call and answer, "I missed you so much, Gumi! How are you two?" He replied, "Nothing much", but you both knew that was a lie. He questions, "When will you reach", so you look outside and smile, "Just did", you say.
After Ijichi-san unloaded your luggage, you were so ecstatic to finally be home that you were almost skipping on the way to your apartment. It felt like being back in highschool and meeting your boyfriend after so long but what made it even better was your toddler waiting at home for you as well. You ring the doorbell, anticipating how you would greet your family after a period that seemed so long yet wasn't.
The door opens and Megumi gives you a tired smile and unbeknownst to him, you were aware why. You threw your arms around his neck, pulling him down, and pressed your forehead against his. He wrapped his arms around you, giving you much needed warmth. After a moment, the embrace was broken and he urged you to directly go inside and followed behind with your luggage.
You entered the living room and smiled wide when you saw your child, engrossed in playing. It took him a minute to notice you intently staring at him but when he did, he reached his arms forward, exclaiming, "Mama!" You rushed to pick him up and shower him with kisses on his eyes, forehead, nose chin, cheeks and lips, telling him how much you missed him regardless that he would not understand.
You put him down and turn around to be met with sight of a worn-out Megumi headed to the kitchen. You abruptly hug him from behind, wrapping your arms around his torso and resting your head on his lean yet broad back as he intertwined his fingers with yours. "Now your turn~!", you announce as he turns around and you attack him with kisses. You kiss every inch of his face, jaw, neck and collarbones, not leaving a single part unloved.
He laughed, trying to get you off of him but to stuck to him like a leech till you were satisfied. After the unexpected bombardment of love, he said,"I made dinner" and without missing a beat, you replied with, "I know". The puzzled expression left his face only a moment later when he realized, "Oh right, the babycam...", he said shyly, rubbing his neck, clearly embarrassed. You looked up at him as you took his hand in yours while blushing, "I love you", you said, making him blush too.

“While in truth, we had shared the same economics course and had one or two idle conversations, I place the moment of significant contact to be a week after my... incident. I knew her by a different name, back then. She had been my first, and only, visitor.
Her presence there had brought both confusion and comfort. A stranger had deigned to see me when my own family and friends could not be bothered to even send a heartfelt letter, much less show their faces. The unexpected gesture left me feeling numb. I could not muster the energy to be angry with her there, not when she was blameless. The true wrongdoers had been conveniently absent until then and, much to my increasing bitterness, would continue to remain so for the duration of my stay in the hospital. It wouldn't be until much later that I'd realize what a boon that would prove to be.”
Tumblr media
“Hikari's visits would start off brief, but meaningful. A tape recorder here and there with the day's lesson, written notes or books other times, home-cooked food always... With my speech hindered by the wraps covering my face, I was certain my unexpected guest would grow tired of the one-sided conversations and eventually cease coming. But I was wrong. Instead of deterring her, this hurdle only seemed to embolden her, and soon Hikari would come up with ways for me to contribute as well. A notebook for penning down thoughts. A whiteboard for more creative endeavors and quick messages. And other... out of the box methods.”
Tumblr media
“Years later, those notebooks are still dearly kept in the drawer of my desk.
Nothing could satisfy the inherent need to speak, however, which is why I was tremendously happy when the bandages got removed, a mere month into my imprisonment in that sterile tomb. And yet, neither of us were prepared for the sight that accompanied my regained liberty.”
Tumblr media
“There was... nothing.
The doctors had warned me that my ailment would leave me permanently disfigured. No one with the kind of angry, sensitive eruptions I had sported until then would have any chance of coming out unscathed. I hadn't needed a medical professional telling me that for me to know. But my skin was pristine and looked somehow healthier than when I first landed in that forsaken hellscape. I was, decidedly, wary. Hikari, while also hesitant, erred more on the side of overjoyed. I could finally leave! The discomfort was gone for the most part, and medical diagnostics would clear me of any serious issues. With a mild prescription and orders of bed rest, I was finally out of the woods.”
Tumblr media
“I should have known better... “
Tumblr media
“I did know better. “
Tumblr media
“But knowing did not lessen the utter torture that would follow.”
Tumblr media
“It was at this point where I had come to realize just how dire my situation truly was. Maybe I was in denial until then. The hospital was far from equipped to handle interdimensional materials. It was at this moment, with the sun setting on my life, that I realized I would be confined to that suffocating prison. That bed was my cell. My coffin. My tomb.”
Tumblr media
“For better or worse, she stayed. Even through the mounting pain, the dizzy spells, my body betraying me... She had been brave all throughout. My dear wisteria, the love of my life. I could see the fear and concern in her eyes even with the optimistic front she put on. Even when an inferno fiercer than anything I could ever imagine burned me from the inside out, boiled and melted my insides and forged me anew, seared my mind until I couldn't think past the agony, she stayed with me. When my eyes glowed with a bloodthirsty crimson and claws gripped and ripped through the bedding.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“When the staff had to strap me down to keep me from hurting myself or others --thankfully without witnessing the inhuman features…”
Tumblr media
“She continued distracting me with tales and inane topics.”
Tumblr media
“Even when I lashed out at her and hurt her like the wounded, mindless animal that I was becoming...
Even in those days when I wished I could just... If only it would all just...
…..
Even then, she would not give up on me. She had steadily become the only one to believe in my harshly dwindling chances of recovery, as the months passed and I only ever got worse, not better.
I wouldn't be able to take this merciless treatment for much longer, of course. Try as I might, I was still at least half human at that point, and there is only so much the human body could withstand before it draws the line and shuts down. I'm only thankful that that threshold was crossed before my psyche would fail me more than it did, and with an accidental parting gift from my beloved, no less.
She bestowed upon me her true, self-chosen name and from then on had been known in my heart and soul as Hikari Kondo instead of the name she was born with."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Yet, as blissful darkness finally took me, a year into this nightmarish ordeal, I was still not spared… and neither was she. But I shall spare you the following year of near close calls and uncertainty. It wouldn't be my story to tell, after all. I was in a coma and as such wouldn't prove a very accurate source of information on that front.”
. . .
Tumblr media
“… And I do believe I have divulged enough, on this particular topic. After all, it satisfies the question. I met my wife after a certain buffoon and his oblivious girlfriend caused the very accident that mercilessly and ruthlessly set me down on the path I now walk. I suppose I… could be a little grateful for the situation, as I would not have my wife now if not for them.”
Tumblr media
“...”
Tumblr media
“You know what? No! They not only caused me years of pain and suffering, but they also left me to perish alone. And I did, in fact, die in that horrendous cot. I owe them nothing.
Now, I believe we are done her- Miso? Miso whatdoyouhaveinyourmouth–”

HEY YOU!!!
down here...allow me to present to you:
Tumblr media
Theme song: ♫♫♫!!!!!!!!
As midnight's shroud envelops Auglire castle, its timeworn stones seem to exhale the whispers of a ghastly past.
Tumblr media
The flickering candlelight casts elongated shadows that dance along the walls like moths to flame.
Tumblr media
The air, heavy with the weight of centuries-old secrets, echoes with the ghostly moans of the forsaken.
Tumblr media
Blood has stained the very stones upon which this noble abode stands, each echoing corridor a silent witness to the sins buried in the family's coffers. Even the creaking floorboards tell tales of unspeakable deeds that have seeped into the very essence of the ancestral halls. Curse is the Castle, and damned are the Greys.
You see, there are secrets within the Grey family that have been covered up for generations. Auglire Castle (their oldest estate) was built in 1593.
Tumblr media
It came with a heavy price of the pockets as well as the labor of others. Their money is tainted, like most of the royalty and nobility in Isturia. But there's something different about their fortune. Mysterious circumstances started occurring there in the latter half of the 17th century after the death of the Duchess of Hollow and word soon got out that it was haunted...
This will be my official story (and I'll actually post quite frequently), and I've discontinued my other two. You may ask, why? Well for starters, if you read the first one, 'Those who have gone before me', that was a prequel to the events that were going to lead to this. I have been planning this story meticulously since January. I felt stuck with those who have gone before me, the prequel to this, as it was primarily in the Baroque Era for a good bit. Don't get me wrong, that era is loveliness in itself and I'm actually making a CC set for it right now, but I wanted to make my Regency-era story come to life sooner than later. But don't fear, there will be some Baroque era scenes for flashback purposes. I felt that if I continued my elonged duration of the Baroque Era I'd burn out and lose motivation, and I did for a while! That is why I came up with the concept of 'Amelie and Virginie', some Regency storytelling to fill the void (yes those hats I promised will still be released). It helped a bit, but I longed to be able to tell this story, as I have been planning it forever. So I came to the decision of just starting this one. Allow me to tell you what this will be about :)

This humongous continent? This is Euriria. It is heavily inspired by Europe during the early 19th century with some slight adjustments. All of my stories will essentially use this map as I like the country names I've come up with. If you read the country names, you can tell exactly which each one is based on (and if you know your geography well too). Now, let's discuss the country of Great Bremson. Great Bremson is obviously inspired by Great Britain, and Isturia is inspired by England. My story will take place in Isturia, and many of its cities! Allow me to show you the aesthetics of the 6 main cities displayed in my story out of the hundreds you'll hear about:

well, since I said this is set in the regency era, who is the protagonist??!? glad you asked
Tumblr media
Meet Aurelia (uhh-reel-ee-uh) Jane Charlotte Grey. Born July 8th, 1798, she is the 3rd daughter of the current Duke and Duchess of Hollow. Her father is one of the most (if not the most) powerful nonroyal Dukes in Isturia. She is a few weeks shy of her 20th birthday when our story unfolds. Throughout this story, we will follow her throughout her life along with her siblings, her children, etc. until she dies! Aurelia is half Isturian but also half Incubinian (Based on Haiti but my other worldly maps aren't done). When her father marries her mother, ALL of Isturia talks about the marriage. Of course, slavery ended in Isturia in 1602, but most native Isturians married other native Isturians, not anyone else. In fact, Incubinians didn’t have the same rights as Isturians until 1679 (all except marrying someone of Isturian blood). In 1750, the law that had prevented Incubinians from marrying Isturians was lifted, so this wasn't an entirely new concept. Aurelia's identity is something that she struggles with a lot, but I won't go into that much detail with that just yet. Aurelia soon begins to believe the rumors circulating about her family after a traumatic event happens in 1807 which leads her to believe she is damned. Will Aurelia ever discover the truth of her family's past? Will she ever become secure in herself and her identity? Are the Greys truly damned and doomed or is it superstition? Find out and see. Here is the Family tree and the character page coming soon

Absorbing the shock, it was all Sean could do not to storm over to where Rin and her family were gathered and demand she give him answers. It added up, undoubted was the maths in the equation that the child with eyes that exactly matched his own, who would have been about six, meaning she’d been conceived on that weekend he’d spent with her, was in fact his daughter. It fitted. It explained why she’d vanished.
Why the fuck had she kept it from him?
Why the fuck did she still continue to keep it from him?
He knew why, but his anger got in the way of logic. The only thing to penetrate it was the sudden feeling of a wet nose at his fingertips, followed by a familiar miffed grunt. Looking down, he saw Butch, ball in mouth, ready for it to be thrown once more.
As the rage in him subsided, a myriad of emotions began to swirl, taking the ball and throwing it once more, finally tearing his eyes away from the child, dressed in her school uniform beneath a thick, winter coat. His child. He dropped his head and sped up while walking past where they were congregated, hoping the distance from one side of the path over to the small playground area meant he wouldn’t be seen.
That did not mean, however, that this would be something he’d easily let go of. Rin would feel every ounce of his ire, once she’d actually confirmed to him if the child was definitely his.
Setting off over the grass to meet his dog en route back, he took the ball and clipped Butch back onto his lead, being greeted by a look of indignance that playtime was seemingly over. “I am certain that fucking tooth of yours sticks out even further when you’re pissed off.” he spoke, reaching to scratch his forehead wrinkles. “If I sported a snaggletooth, mine probably would be right now, too.”
He took the long walk back to his car, loading Butch in the rear and clipping his seatbelt fastener onto the back of his harness, the dog lying down with a soft snort. The comfy ride of the Audi Q5 meant he was asleep ten minutes into the journey home, only stirring when half an hour after that, the car pulled up in the parking garage back in Canary Wharf.
For the duration of the drive, he’d mulled over how to handle the sight he’d been presented with at the park, wanting to actually make the right choice for once. Good choices and Sean Wallace didn’t always go hand in hand. In fact, more often than not, his impulsive nature dictated that they were the furthest from good.
“Catherine, I need to speak with you. Would you be free for lunch on Friday?”
Civil, to the point, adult like. He was proud of himself. While waiting on a reply, he took a shower, sorting Butch his food before ordering the usual Thai delicacies to satiate his own hunger.
“I’m busy.”
“Next Monday, perhaps?”
“Busy then, too.”
“Any fucking time before Easter, Catherine?” Trust Sean to not take her rebuffing well.
“Can you not just call me to have this discussion?”
“No. It must be face to face.”
It was while he was mid-way through eating a Thai red curry when she finally replied. “I’ll check my diary when I have a moment and get back to you.”
He waited a week for her to do this alleged diary consulting, hearing nothing. The proverbial bull appeared to need taking by the horns, it would seem.
The gates to Mulford Hall’s private driveway still required a check in with security, but the large, middle-aged man who had sat within the small booth the last time Sean had pulled up beside it was now replace by another. A large, Kenyan other, to be exact.
“And you are?” he rumbled, lifting his chin.
“Sean Wallace, here to see Miss Cavanagh.”
The man reached for the telephone, eyes flitting over Sean. “I’ll be the judge of that.” Pressing a button, he waited, leaning back while letting his fingers skim over the semi-automatic holstered at his hip, dark eyes returning to Sean for a second and narrowing. “Boss, hello. I got a Sean Wallace here to see you.”
There was a pause. “She say you must wait for her call and to go home.”
“Tell her that unless she lets me up, I shall start making noise over the identity of her child’s father. Loud noise.”
Marcus relayed the message with a huff, waiting. “Okay, you may go up.”
He smirked, shifting the car into drive as the gates began to slowly open. “I thought she might say that.” Driving through, he reminded himself over and over to keep calm, that losing his temper was the last thing he should resort to, that no matter how enraged he was, calmness was the more conducive approach.
Pulling into the courtyard, he saw Rin exit the house and stride over to the car. The defiance she carried herself with immediately sent his irritation up by a few notches.
“I think we need to talk,” he began, getting out and shutting the door with a heavy clunk, turning to face her. “Why the fuck didn’t you tell me?”
“How did you even find out?” she demanded, narrowing her eyes. “Who the hell told you?”
“Nobody, I saw you both in the park just over a week ago. She looked right at me, and it was my eyes I saw. Doing the calculations over her age, and it points a very definite finger to the fact that I’m her father. If I hadn’t, your lack of a poker face and need to discover if you’ve been betrayed just sealed it nicely for me.”
The sneer in his tone set her on edge, Rin wanting nothing more than to punch him in the face for it. For much more, in fact. Her nostrils flared in annoyance, Sean continuing. “Now, why didn’t you tell me?”
She shrugged, sniffing. “It was none of your business back then.”
His lips tightened, his shoulders squaring. “I fathered your child, that makes it very much my business.”
“Not when you were set to sell out her mother’s dignity for a business deal. Honestly, do you truly think I wanted a man like that near her at the time? Can you honestly blame me for keeping it from you?”
“Yes, I fucking can, because she’s my fucking daughter and I had a right to see her, to know her!” There went his cool, flying far from any tentative grasp.
Her features twisted, fury beginning to pulse. “You had no right at all, Sean! Not after what you did to me!”
“I had to, Catherine. By the end of that weekend, I didn’t want to, but I had to, because...”
“Because if you hadn’t, you’d have lost the capitol you needed to buy a new location to launder through, and the safe port for the fuck load of heroin that needed an alternative dock to port in. Yeah, I know why you had to. You could have just let me talk to him, you know. I’d have convinced him, but no.” Her eyes narrowed, her jaw tightening. “You fucked me over because you wanted to. Get off on it, did you? Taking advantage of an eighteen-year-old, hmm?”
“Don’t give me that shit,” he spat angrily, cracking his knuckles in agitation. “You were far from naive. You were raised by a man just as cutthroat as the one whom raised me.”
Swallowing down her desire to match his anger, she took a breath, sniffing as she thinned her lips between her teeth. “My heart was.” Pausing, she saw it in his face, the very thing she was looking for, but had no real care over whether she received or not. Remorse. It was a few too many years late in the coming. “I suppose I should thank you really, for the lesson you taught me, one that I will pass onto my daughter when she’s older, too. Never let your emotions be swayed by a man who shows all the hallmarks of such deeply entrenched psychopathy.”
He looked accepting of her assessment, shame seeming to veil him as he looked down upon her, sighing sadly. “I am truly sorry for what I did to you. I am. It was a mistake that I haven’t ever not regretted.” He paused for a moment, in her silence of absorbing his apology. “She’s the reason, isn’t she? The other reason you returned me to my former status, the one you said I didn’t deserve to know, back when I first saw you again three months ago.
“That’s correct,” she confirmed, “but on my terms. I want my daughter to know her father, but most certainly not the man who I watched you become from afar. God fucking knows, I’m probably bordering on mental myself, but I thought maybe, if I could sort you out in the midst of ironing out the fucking mess you and half the other fuckwits left London in, then maybe the old Sean might return. The Sean you might still be capable of being.”
He felt his chest tighten in an instant, that no matter how badly he’d hurt her, hurt himself, pulled apart the threads of his own life, she still had hope he could redeem himself. “Perhaps if I’d known about her, that might have come sooner. My priorities have always been centred around the health of my family. Surely you knew that?”
“I didn’t know what the fuck I knew about you, after that weekend, and then you turning on me!”
“I told you I didn’t want to.”
“But you did!” Her temper flared beyond her need or desire to control it, her jaw flexing as she ground her back teeth together, her fury literally biting. “You hurt me, Sean! I let you in, more than I ever had with actual boyfriends, and you fucking hurt me worse than anybody ever has! We could have been something, but you just threw it all the fuck away, didn’t you?”
He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose as he turned away from her for a second. “I did. There isn’t a day that passes where I don’t regret that, either.”
“Why?” she scoffed, folding her arms. “It got you everything you wanted.”
He reached for her, thumb skimming her cheek. “And lost me something I truly needed.”
She felt her heart quicken, enjoying the comfort of his touch for a mere second before knocking his hand away. “Don’t. No. I’m off the table forever to you. Her? Maybe, if you continue to behave yourself.”
He nodded. “Do I at least get to know her name?”
“Tiger Lily.” Her favourite flower, he remembered. “We just call her Tiger for short mostly. Believe me, it suits her personality.”
He smiled at that, imagining her to be tiny and mighty, much like her mother. “When can I see her, Rin? I want to be there for her, provide for her. I have lost so much in the way of family, and the life I am attempting to rebuild very much has a place for her within it.”
His earnest softness stirred her, hearing his pledge to be involved in his daughter’s life, but not enough that she’d ease up on him. “When I see fit, and not a moment before.”
Indignance at being rebuffed rose within him, but he knew the more he demanded, the further she would dig her heels in. His continued commitment to not making bad choices borne of his impulsive nature had to be applied here, too. “Okay. I shall await you getting in contact, then.”
He turned to his car, Rin beginning to twitch in discomfort, resting her weight from foot to foot a couple of times as she swung her arms down from folded. “Sean?” He turned back, eyebrows slightly raised. “St James Park, 2pm next Sunday. We’ll meet you by the playground. You’re just my friend, though. You shan’t be revealed as her father until I decide.”
His mouth flickered, upturning. “Thank you.”
She had to give him something, she realised, no matter how much the scar tissue from his burns still ached within her chest. Since her reinstating him three months prior, he’d been flawless, utterly faultless in the way he had resurrected both himself and the Wallace Corporation. He deserved something, although as she walked back into the house, she wasn’t sure whether her lenience had been too swiftly delivered.
“I heard most of that from the window.” Her mother’s tone told a thousand more words than she actually spoke.
Rin sighed, moving to the fridge and pouring a vodka, feeling the weight of Sokoro’s hand press supportively to her shoulder. She paused, covering it with her own for a moment, leaning into his wide chest. “You handled it well, boss. I leave you with your mother now, it is not my place to be in a family talk.”
She smiled thinly, the Kenyan giant leaving the kitchen, Rin wishing he’d have stayed. “I take it you’re about to detail that I was wrong for allowing him to see her?”
“I’ll flippin’ say you were!” she began, one of the stools at the island being pulled out rapidly, the legs scraping across the floor. “Pour me a drink, too. I need it after that. You should have stuck to your guns and made him work for it a little harder. Then again you were never very competent in making that man work for anything, were you?”
A better relationship they might have had, but Diane still had her predisposition for making snide remarks. The point she was making was not lost upon Rin at all, who viewed her with incredulity as she turned with the vodka bottle, slamming the fridge shut as she paced to the cupboard containing the glasses. “I had sex with him, mum. Deal with it. I’m not as precious as you over the act of pleasure, and I never have been.”
“You might have avoided this whole fiasco if you were.”
Oh, she just couldn’t help herself. “And if I had, I wouldn’t have Tiger. I wouldn’t trade the outcome of me being careless over contraception for anything. Not even a better outcome. And to Sean’s credit, in the last few months he’s worked his arse off. The Wallace Corporation is in the process of three new builds, two more in the works. We’ve expanded construction to Birmingham and Manchester, too. For twelve weeks, that’s good going.”
“You’re going soft. I knew you would, as soon as you saw him again.”
Her grip upon the Stolichnaya bottle tightened, her lips pursing. “I have not gone soft. I want Tiger to know her father, and so far, he’s done a good job of proving himself to be capable of being just that; her father. Me? As you probably overheard, I am not a part of it. This was always my intention, mum. I want her to know him.”
Diane was nothing if not persistent in her stance. “But so soon? You really should have made him suffer for longer.”
Pouring the drinks, Rin returned the bottle to the fridge, adding ice and pushing a glass across the counter to her mother. “Just because I am allowing him limited access to his daughter does not mean I am softening. It is still my proverbial boot upon his neck, still my line he toes, still my weight he operates beneath. He shan’t ever forget that either.”
Diane sniffed, raising both her eyebrows and glass. “Just as long as he never does, Catherine.” She departed the kitchen, leaving Rin standing there for a second before the weight of it all bore down, flopping onto the shiny, lemon disinfectant-scented marble with a sigh. The next weight she felt was of two warm hands grasping her shoulders, kneading softly.
“Am I being too soft, Sok? Is she right, or is she being a huge shit bag?” She didn’t think her right hand would have moved too far away.
“Hey, hey,” he chided softly, pulling her up to stand straight, “she is still your mother, eh?”
She sighed. “I know, but is she?”
“You know as well as my boss, you are my close friend too, eh?”
She smiled. “I do.”
“And you know I always tell you how it is, yes?”
“Yes.”
“You could have made white man squirm for a little longer, eh, but I understand why you did not. You know how it is to be without a father, and you do not want that for little Tiger. You do this for her, I see. Not for him.”
At least Sokoro understood where she was coming from. “Thank you, for seeing things how they are.”
His eyes narrowed a tiny fraction, the corner of his mouth tugging up. “Maybe a little for him, no?”
“No.”
“Sure?”
She avoided his dark eyes, taking a gulp of the chilled, neat vodka. “Definitely not.”
He had the respect to leave it there, but he knew. “Do you want me to come with you to this meet, eh?”
“Yes. Wait in the car for us though, so you’re nearby but not looming over us.”
He nodded. “Understood, boss. Now, my stomach is rumbling, eh! Where is the chef? I would like to be fed now, yes.”
He was getting very used to a life with people to do things for him, her dear Sokoro. Back at home, he happily pitched in to assist (or hamper) Anna, his wife of nine years, a German backpacker who had arrived in Kenya and then never left after meeting him. They lived in a house upon the reserve, Anna’s background in zoology meaning she was a perfect choice to work with the animals there, working her way up to managing the breeding program. She had called only five hours ago to joyfully inform Rin that the four pregnant lionesses had all birthed a healthy litter of cubs the night before.
Stretching her arms out to ease the residual tension of the last twenty minutes, Rin walked to the phone, calling for Roger to come down and begin preparing their dinner. After eating a delicious meal of griddled salmon and vegetables (and chicken for Tiger, who couldn’t stand that particular fish) she saw to bathing and dressing her daughter ready for bed, heading back downstairs to her office.
It had once been her father’s, the space now drastically changed from how it had looked before. She had intended to keep it exactly how it was, but it proved much too painful, to see such reminders of him everywhere. The solid oak and dark red walls had been replaced for pastel green, bird and floral print wallpaper, and white and light oak furniture, giving the space an airy feel.
Her father often liked to intimidate with decoration, the oppressiveness of the office very much in keeping with his personality. She used to coin it the belly of the dragon for good reason.
Taking a seat at her desk, she jiggled the mouse until her computer came out of standby, ready to continue organising her current project. She was arranging a charity dinner in aid of her wildlife reserve, one of those very fancy, three hundred pounds a head affairs in aid of raising money for the African wildlife she now solely presided over, despite no longer living out in Africa.
Of course, with Rin, there was another goal. The funds derived from the night’s hopefully generous contributions from London’s elite would be matched with injections of cash needing to be laundered. It made sense, since the CWR (Cavanagh Wildlife Reserve) was a charity, for all intents and purposes. The deals she was in the process of making with people in South America needed a fund to be run through, her reserve being the chosen destination.
After completing the guest list of a total of two hundred and seventy-three people, she sent the details to the printing firm to send out invitations, knowing most of her associates were such old school types, a well-appointed, neatly printed invitation arriving by post would be more appreciated than the more modern method of an e-invite.
Once done, she poured herself another drink, sitting back and resting her bare feet up on the desk, getting a small pang of annoyance when remembering her mother’s earlier words. “Then again you were never very competent in making that man work for anything, were you?”
“Slut shaming. So very you, mother darling.” Oh, how she’d really, really come down hard on her at the time, Rin remembered, when she’d revealed the news of her pregnancy to her and her father. They both had, Rin not knowing which way to turn, having her usually on side, protective father roaring in utter outrage at how she could be so stupid.
“You fucking open your legs to that scumbag in the first place, and then don’t have any bloody sense to use protection? Fucking hell, Catherine! I thought we raised you with more brains than that, girl, I really did!”
They had, too. In the midst of dealing with the heartbreak of his betrayal, obtaining the morning after pill had been the farthest thing from her mind. So far, in fact, that it wasn’t until her period didn’t arrive that it smacked her square in the chest, what she had forgotten to do in the aftermath of a weekend being shagged ragged by the man of her dreams.
Remembering it, him, the way his skin felt against hers, the heat of their connection, the fact that she hadn’t ever, or since felt a dick as perfect as his, she let herself be transported back to each moment he’d ever been inside her, just for a few seconds. God, the way that man fucked. He was unlike all others, and she hated him for it.
Coming back out from where her daydream had led her, she tried to shake the thoughts of Sean from her mind, but they clung on. Sleeping in his arms, chasing him around the house with a bow and arrow as they’d laughed. She’d never heard him laugh like that, and it made her chest flutter still.
“Bastard.”
Switching off her computer, she tidied her desk, finishing her drink. She’d be up at five in the morning to go for her usual six-mile run, Rin loathing any form of gymnasium-based exercise, but loving to pound her feet to the terrain in order to stay in shape. An early night was definitely in order.
Her childhood bedroom was still her destination, although changed in decoration from pale yellow to a pastel blue, the furniture remaining the same but furnishings a little more befitting of a grown woman. After cleansing her face and brushing her teeth, she crawled beneath the duvet, closing her eyes. Falling into dreams, she was eighteen again, her bed occupied by the man whom she’d tried in vain to cease thinking about, lying with her head on his chest as they’d talked. Well, talked, and...
“You’re going to make it fall off, you know,” he’d told her, eyeing his cock after she’d begun playing with it again.
“Don’t be ridiculous,” she’d purred, moving to sit astride him, kissing the centre of his chest. “It isn’t going anywhere, other than back inside me. I think I make it very happy.”
The way he’d looked at her, pulling her into a kiss, his gaze had told her strongly that it wasn’t just his cock that she made happy.
Waking with a start, she grumbled with agitation.
“Get out of my head, you fucking twat.”
It had been seven years. If he hadn’t left it by then, then much to her indignation, she had to admit he likely never would.

Endlessly
A short one shot from my blurb bucket list.
Tears dripped down my face in torrents as I realized what I had to do. I had to leave this man. He didn't love or respect me. He never even wanted to be a friend. This marriage had shown me how much more I didn't belong in his life. I know he thought he was above me. I could tell by how he treated me throughout the entire duration of our sad little marriage.
Our parents were family friends. His parents were business tycoons who wanted to marry their son Park Jimin off to me, a hopeless nobody according to Jimin’s assessment of me throughout our schooling years. He had treated me like dust beneath his shoe when we were both in the same middle school and high school. We ran in the same circles as my parents owned a fancy bakery in the nice part of town. My parents had grown up with his parents and though we were never anywhere as rich as them, my parents provided me a comfortable upbringing. Jimin’s parents were extremely kind people who never acted arrogant, even though they owned a chain of extremely lucrative hotels.
At the age of 16 Jimin had a Mercedes Benz, Rolex watch, a separate outhouse next to his parent’s estate, and the attention of any girl he wanted.
At the same age, I had my cat, Sugarplum, my teddy bear, Roosevelt, my parents and our bakery. That was enough to tell you how different we were from one another. For some ridiculous reason, his parents thought that I would be the best girl to marry him to. I remember that day when I was paralyzed by shock when I came back from school one day to find them all in my living room. His mother, Mrs. Park had cracked open a warm smile as she saw me standing in from of the door as I awkwardly greeted them.
My mom came from the kitchen exclaiming in a voice filled with hidden glee, “ Oh, Y/N. Baby, you are back from school. How was your day? Got any articles published for the school newspaper?” I quietly responded, “Yeah mom, getting ready to finalize some edits.” As I walked into the living room gingerly, thinking it was only Ms. Park and my mom, Jimin came in with my dad and his dad from our back yard. Mr. Park chimed in joyously, “ Y/n , You have grown so much. What a beautiful girl you have become.” Jimin coughed silently, laughing under his breath as I grimly realized that he didn’t share the same sentiment as his dad.
I couldn’t see what Mr. Park meant either since I had just worn jeans and a long sleeve top to school. But I had not been brought up lacking manners, so I replied, “Thank you Mr. Park. Very kind of you to say so. How have you been doing? Would you like me to get you and Ms. Park some tea and cake?” The brightly smiling older man chuckled in a pleased fashion, “Why don’t you do that sweetheart. We have some good news for you when you come back.”
I walked into the kitchen puzzled at what he was referring to. I came back with the refreshments and set then down on the table as my mom said, “Why don’t we let Y/N first finish college and then we can plan the wedding?” I almost fell off the couch. I felt like I had been slapped by a fish. What the freaking hell did she mean marriage!?? Were they trying to sell me off like a week old salmon in a fish market? And to who?
I exclaimed in a rather nervous tone, “Mother, what are you talking about? What is going on here?” Mrs. Park started in a placating tone, “Sweet heart we were just talking about when Jimin and you would be married.” I almost choked as I screamed in terror, “EXCUSE ME?!” Mr. Park smiled as he continued, “Darling don’t frighten Y/N. Sweetheart don’t worry. We will wait till you and Jimin finish your under grad degrees and then we will plan the engagement and get you two hitched. It won’t be immediate. You will have time to get to know him.” Jimin sat there in silence with a neutral mask on his face as my face contorted in terror, making me retreat upstairs in utter shock.
I could hear my dad say, “What do you say Jimin? Ready to take on your dad’s company?” I could hear as Jimin replied in a resolute manner , “Of course uncle. Once I get my business degree and finish my MBA, I will be able to take care of Y/N properly.”
Contrary to what everyone thought, Jimin proceeded to treat me like an invisible being throughout the duration of our college years as well. We had ended up at our hometown college which happened to rank pretty highly across the country. Though I didn’t agree with this supposed marriage which both our parents had come up with, I thought we would at least get to know each other as friends. And then maybe eventually as a couple if we suited each other.
Jimin and I had run in different circles all throughout high school and middle school. The same trend continued in college. He hung out with other extremely handsome and privileged guys who would also eventually take over their family businesses as heirs. Just as he did in high School, he had a loyal fan following of beautiful well bred girls whose sole existence in college was to trap rich man in marriage. Anytime I would come across him, I would greet him.
He would walk past me as though he never heard me. The girls he would hang with would always be teeming around him in a protective pentagon. He sure was satanic. His behavior and the way he acted above all others in school  had not changed. To top all this behavior all off with a cherry, he was known around campus for having a new girl every month. His dipshit friend Jungkook,  had coined the term, “new flavor of the month”, to describe his excessively promiscuous and nonchalant behavior.
To my utter dismay, this man who I had known to never be husband material, continued to exemplify that he was the farthest thing from husband material the world had ever seen. He was as similar to husband material, as polyester was to silk. I had had some faith in the fact that he may change his behavior initially. As we almost ended our college years, I could tell that he wouldn’t change and he would carry this dismal behavior into a marriage that I never even wanted.
I told my mother numerous times as college ended, “ Please mom. Why do I have to marry him? He has the pick of the lot, so many attractive rich girls. Why me? Can’t he just marry one of those.” I started sobbing in frustration as I bit out in desperation , “He doesn't even greet me mom. He doesn't acknowledge my existence. He hates me. I don’t want to marry someone who hates me. You know me mom. I can’t survive with someone who hates my guts, someone who disrespects me. I am the closest thing to a fiancé he has and he doesn't even want to be friends. Why do you and father insist on ruining my life this way?”
To my shock my mother  started crying as well as she morosely said, “ I am so sorry my baby. I didn't know that he was treating you this way. His parents and I always thought he was a well mannered child so we had betrothed you to him when you were barely 10. His dad has a really bad heart condition. And since his dad and mom were your godparents, they wanted you to marry him because you are such a good girl. His father may pass soon, and he wanted see his son wedded to you before he passed.”
“His parents really think you are the best person for Jimin. You are solid, trustworthy, loyal, beautiful, loving and a hard worker. Nobody in their circles, no matter how rich or vain they may be, amount to you in worth.” Your mother continued in a serious tone, “But sweetheart, if he is treating you like trash, I will tell his parents that this won’t work. They can find someone else for his ungrateful ass.”
You laughed for the first time in a long time as your mother started cussing out Jimin for being a turd. But knowing yourself you knew what decision you would take. Your godparents had been there for you since you were born. They had taken care of you and your parents when your parents were initially setting up the bakery.
You decided it then and there. You would marry Jimin and be with him for a few years. When it would get unbearably hard, when you would feel like dying, you would leave him. Inevitably the marriage would die, it was just a matter of time. And, you would be giving your godfather the gift of a wedding for his son.
I laughed bitterly as my sob fest ceased. It had been 5 long years since  your marriage to Jimin at the age of 21. His father had been elated to see him married off to you. They treated me better than their own daughter this entire time. It almost made up for how badly Jimin had treated me. But that's the thing, almost was never enough. Every person had their limits. And I had hit mine.
I started packing away whatever clothes you could fit into the suitcases. It had been enough. His cold behavior towards me, the disrespect of having random women over at the house, the disregard towards me as a partner. The tipping point had been when I was about to visit him at his office and heard moaning coming from inside the room.
In these five years of being married to him I had developed a prowess as a writer and published so many books that had became a best seller. Under your clandestine alias, Strawberry, I had now accumulated a personal net worth of 50 million dollars USD. This progress had deemed me financially independent. I had never touched Jimin’s money since the beginning of the relationship. Whenever we went to galas with him for the purpose of PR for his company, he had provided me money to buy clothes and accessories.
I had always been a chubby girl who wore glasses and nondescript clothing. But Jimin and most of the world didn't know that I had a personal sense of fashion and beauty sequestered in my closet ready to unleash to the world once I divorced this ungrateful shit. The plan to leave had been in the works since the day of the wedding. Five years of building, brooding, working hard, and patience had earned me the right to a divorce. Even when I married him, he never tried to get to know me.
I had tried to be his friend, taking care of him when his dad was sick in the hospital on multiple occasions. There were days Jimin didn't even get out of bed because of the sheer misery of his father’s condition. I had supported him that time, sleeping with him when he was lonely and crying in bed in the middle of the night. We had separate bedrooms, but he had come crying to my bed at midnight one night , sobbing profusely as he crumbled into my arms. “I--I-I can’t do this y/N, I can’t see him die with my own eyes. I love my dad, I can’t imagine life without him.”
He wretched and sobbed for what seemed like eternity as he lay in my bed, snuggled in my arms as he tried catching his breath. I had stroked him on the head, patting him on his back, rocking him to bed as though he were a baby. At the time he had settled against me exhausted with his arms encompassing my waist. His face had burrowed into my chest as he fell asleep, tired from his crying fit. This incident had repeated itself so many times during the course of our marriage. The worst part was when he would act like a completely different person every morning after his crying tirades. He would seek solace in my arms in the nights and become like a cold, impenetrable version of himself the very next day. I was his emotional support animal, and he was the man I could never call my own.
Reminiscing all those times made silent tears trail down my face as I faced the whiplash of memories. I had tried making him breakfast, packing his lunches, and had tried my hardest to at least be his friend if I could not be his partner. He would let me do all this for him, without appreciation or gratitude. He would eat my food and treat me like a stranger. Treat me like I had never existed. He never remembered my birthday, never concerned himself with my needs.
When I had tried to kiss him on his lips, trying to making the first move one time, he had spelled out in no uncertain terms, “ You are only my wife in name. Don’t try to make this relationship anything else than what it should be, a PR relationship. And how could you think I would ever be attracted to you? Do you ever look at yourself in the mirror? Learn to take care of yourself. How could you continue to look like a slob your whole life? You’ve seen who I dated in school since we were kids. Did any of them ever look like you?”
He walked away like nothing had happened, as I crumbled to the ground crying, injured by the one person I had tried so hard to get close to. That night had led me to understand that he was way above my league, at least according to his standards. If this was a PR relationship, then why did he cry to me at night? Why did he come to me wounded,  expecting me to complete him and in the same breath stab me in the heart for caring?
I had to leave. I had to leave. I had to.
JIMIN’S POV
As most marriages go, they are usually banal affairs. Unexciting and monotonous. Duties and responsibilities littered my brain as I came home early. As I looked for the wife I would never in a million years have thought would be mine,  I stumbled upon some photos in her room. Nudes of a full figured girl dominated the frame of the polaroid photos scattered around the floor. I choked in utter shock at the slip of a stocking and a flash of her bosom.
I picked up the photos, shocked at how beautiful they looked. This was my wife? The quiet girl who even in our school days simply seemed like the kind girl next door? She wore these stockings underneath her everyday clothes? My pants felt uncomfortably tight as I ventured further into her room.
Why were clothes littered all over her room? She was usually extremely organized. She ran our house as tight as a captain would run their ship. Everything was always cleaned and in its place. As I ventured further into her room, I saw piles of lingerie of shapes and sizes I never imagined on her bed. Where was she ? And what was she doing with all these clothes? If it wasn't for me, then who was she entertaining? Rage filled my gut as I couldn't imagine her betraying me with another man.
On the bed, I saw official documents. One word caught my eye, filling me with dread, my panic continued to rise as a I clutched papers to my face with latent fury. It read,  “DIVORCE SETTLEMENT DOCUMENTS”.  I yelled in a full blown nervousness, “ Y/N where are you? What are you doing? What are these papers?!? Y/N?!”
In the utter chaos wreaking havoc upon my mind,  I opened the door to her bathroom, and I almost fainted. Y/N was decorated in a red lace thong with a blood red bra and stockings to match. Her voluptuous stomach gripped the strings of the thong as her thick ass swallowed up the thong string. Stretch marks climbed in spirals along her hips as her bra struggled to house her breasts. Her thick thighs were encased in transparent red thigh high stockings.
I couldn’t even hear her screaming as I continued to stare at her body in undisguised, mind numbing lust and adoration. I had never seen my wife naked. I had never even touched her or any other woman for the entire duration of our marriage. I may be a bastard, but I was loyal to my wife. And my dick that had been dead from the antidepressants and grief at my father’s condition, came to life.
Y/N yelled in frustration, waving her hands in front of me to get out of the room. I marched up to her as the cloud of  lust magnified within me. She cowered away from me, placing hands to cover her breasts and pussy. I took hold of her arms easily, wrenching them to the side as I studied her beautiful body up close. If I had known this was how my wife looked like, I would have never made it to work on time every morning.
What startled me was the sniffling though. I panicked as I looked up to see her crying profusely with the most abject grief in her eyes. I had hurt her somehow. She was usually the most neutral, cold faced girl I had ever come across in my life. Her facial expressions never showed emotion except for the times when I would hurt her, when I was so weighed down by the grief of my father that I would lash out at her.  Little did she know how elated I was to marry her the day of our wedding.
Growing up an only child without many real friends made me a very unexpressive person, but when I loved someone, I loved them deeply. And my wife was clearly hurt so badly. I had hurt her so badly, that she was considering divorce. As it all clicked into place, I wrapped my arms around her and rocked her in my arms, soothing her, “Tell me what is going on baby? What is happening? What did I do to hurt you? Why are you trying to leave me?”
She tried batting away my arms that settled around her hips and backside. But I wouldn’t let her go. I had messed up so badly and once I saw those papers, my mind whirled with terror. I couldn’t survive without this woman. She was my life source, my rock, and she couldn’t leave me. She shouted out in a cracked voice, “ You don’t love me! YOU DON’T CARE FOR ME. GET AWAY FROM ME!! YOU CAN GO MARRY SOME SKINNY CHIC WHO YOU HAVE BEEN FUCKING IN THE OFFICE DAY AND NIGHT! NOW LET ME GO, YOU TURD!!
I grabbed on to her tighter, confused at her accusations, “Baby what are you talking about? I haven't touched any girl in the five years we have been married.”
She wheezed in disbelief, “Liar, why are you always doing this to me? You are as cold as a stone, you freeze me out when you feel like it. And I heard the moaning coming from your office, and all the women you have been parading around my house, cheating on me with. Well I am done, I have been done for a long time. I am clearly unattractive and ugly and not in shape. I want to leave, I want a divorce. I do not want even a penny from you, but I have to leave. You are not healthy for me. This is not a healthy marriage.”
All of her words hit my like trucks as I begged with her, “Sweetheart, I never meant to make you believe that I have been disloyal. All those women at our house were my business partner’s sisters and family. That’s why they would greet you when they came in to the house.  They run a family led corporation , and all of them had come here for business meetings.” As she became quiet, I continued, “ The day you came to see me at the office must have been when my PA twisted her ankle. The physical therapist and I were both in the room with her. She was moaning in pain because it was a completely avulsed tendon. I am so sorry I made you believe otherwise, that you are not the only woman in my life.”
“I know how horribly I conducted my self in school .  You always saw me around girls and so you thought that behavior of sleeping around would continue into our marriage. I would never do that to you. You are the only one who truly cares about me. And I was a shallow piece of shit for making you fell unattractive. The day I put you down for your appearance, was the worst day of my life. Dad was getting his prosthetic heart valve replacement surgery and I was so stressed. Mom was crying and I didn’t know what to do, that I lashed out at you when you had nothing to do with it.”
As her crying ceased, she tried to get out of my embrace, but I wouldn’t let her. “Baby, please give me a chance to make it right. I know I have treated you dismally, less than human. But I love you, I have loved you since the day we got married. I just never knew how to show it to you. You have always been so independent, self sufficient, never relying on me for anything. I almost thought you never needed me. And the grief made me an even worse person than I thought I was capable of being.”
Y/N took a huge gulp of air as she exclaimed, “I don’t believe that you are attracted to me or that you love me. You have treated me horribly for years, and I never even felt like we were married. I felt like a roommate who you just used for emotional support. Then you would freeze me out and insult me when I tried to help you. Anyways, you like skinny girls who don’ t look like me, why don’t you just go and find one. I will divorce you and you will never hear from me again. And I will find someone who loves me, who thinks that kissing me and showing affection to me is not a chore.”
I started panicking. I was ridiculously attracted to her from the beginning, but the depression medication had literally made me a sexless creature for the past five years. But now she thought that I was not attracted to her, when in fact it was the medication which I had recently been tapered off of by my doctor. What if I couldn't convince her that it was all the medication? She would leave me, and I would crumble into tiny pieces, because I couldn't live without her.
I explained in a frantic voice, “Baby, it was the medication. I was on antidepressant medication for so long and it killed my sex drive so badly. I couldn’t even have sex if I wanted to, it killed my erection. How can I show you that you are a goddess to me? I don’t even deserve to be next to you. I loved you since we were in 7th grade. But I got so nervous around you that I couldn't even speak when you greeted me. Whenever you would talk to me, I literally felt like dying of nerves. I wanted to talk to you so much when we were going through school, but my anxiety crippled me.  I never wanted to make you feel undesirable.”
As she looked at me in indecision, I swooped down to kiss her passionately against her lips, opening up her mouth to receive my tongue. I gripped her exposed butt and squeezed, “Please let me prove to you that you are all I will ever need.” I nuzzled my face against her neck, biting and pecking against it as my hands massaged up her hips, trying to find the string to her thong that I could unravel. Her eyes twinkled with what looked like hope as she whispered, “You can try.”
------Please let me know if I should release the rest of the smut for this one shot.

The invitation envelope is sealed with blue wax, the outline of the Meriet royal seal carefully pressed into the the center. The invitation itself consists of a single letter that reads:
❝The kingdom of Meriburn cordially invites you to join them in celebrating the Festival of the Blue Moon. We humbly look forward to your presence in ushering in a new lunar season that is set to begin on at . We advise that you dress in light, airy clothing and have footwear that will not be damaged by any amount of water. We also advise that you arrive by sunset on the first day of the festivities in order to fully experience the welcoming ceremony.❞
Along the bottom of the letter, the words “Please dip in water and turn over.” is written in neat lettering along the bottom of the invitation card. Once done, the rest of the letter continues as follows:
❝An additional, private gathering will be held at the Aichon Palace throughout the entire event. Overnight accommodations will be provided to all guests with this invitation. We advise you keep it in a safe place, to bring it with you on your travels, and to present it to castle staff upon arrival. Your host, Princess Cassandra Tetrarch of Meriburn❞
(for those that are attending the Meriburn party!)
@sansloii
"It looks like she was able to get it approved, after all!" Ezra's face is lit up as he looks over the invitation. Reading it once, then again, before looking to his father and Evan with a grin. "Last year when I went to the festivities, it was amazing, but if this celebration is going to be as big as it sounds, then I'm sure it'll be even better. You'll both be able to make it, right? She'd be really happy to see you both!"
Of course, he knew that having all three of them away from Exulan at once was a bit risky, but...when was the last time they were all able to enjoy a festival together that wasn't in their own kingdom? That wasn't something that they had to organize and upkeep throughout the duration of the events?
Tumblr media
"We don't all have to stay the entire time, but...I think it would be nice."

Tumblr media
"We're going to Meriburn...? Why?"
Tumblr media
"Alsina is busy with her research, so Sivel asked if I'd like to accompany him. I'd rather not leave you three behind."
The three knew that tone. Baphomet thought that they might find Nesa there...and if that was the case, he wouldn't have to hesitate on taking them back home again. Not to mention that he was worried after the four of them...ever since the Aegis, their parent had barely let any of them out of his sight.
Admittedly, none of them seemed all that excited about the celebration, but...
Tumblr media
"I'll go. Some of our friends will probably be there too, yeah? It'll be a nice change of pace."

Tumblr media
"...Are you completely certain that you don't mind watching them, Antale? I was at Vanystea's party; Raelin and Thelrin are perfectly capable of attending this celebration in my stead--"
Tumblr media
"They're mine too, Lea...you say that as though I shouldn't have to watch after them-- just like you've done every day that I've been gone, in Ahnia"
Gone working. Eleare didn't even have to say it. The look that they gave Antale said it all for them. Though really, most of this was just for show. It had nothing to do with the kids. Nothing to do with "inconveniencing" Antale...
Going to Meriburn meant that they were guaranteed to at least run into Roderick's youngest son...if not Roderick himself. Something that Antale surely knew already, as well.
Ugh, and he was giving them that look. Apparently, they'd have to go looking for some more appropriate attire...dammit all.

'Barbenheimer has finally come! Last weekend saw record-setting numbers at the box office, and we have no doubt that Oppenheimer and Barbie will continue to dominate theaters across the world for the foreseeable future. Christopher Nolan is responsible for Oppenheimer, and his acclaimed films usually feature a stacked cast of A-listers. His latest effort centers on World War II, when physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer is tapped to work on the top-secret Manhattan Project with hopes of stopping the Nazis and Japan. It was a long ordeal creating the infamous atomic bomb, as evidenced in Oppenheimer's three-hour duration.
A handful of A-list actors play the folks who assisted with making the bomb that dropped on Hiroshima. Since there are so many of them in the film, we took the time to list the finest performances in descending order. Spoilers below!
10. David Krumholtz as Isidor Isaac Rabi
Anyone who saw The Slums of Beverly Hills and The Santa Clause knew David Krumholtz was a star in the making during the 1990s. Decades later, he’s working with Hollywood’s finest directors, including the Coen brothers (Hail Caesar!) and now Christopher Nolan. Krumholtz nails the role as colleague and friend of Oppenheimer's, and his scenes with Culkin Murphy are fun and breezy — even with things get serious. He's always reminding the ever-stressed out physicist to eat, and these moments provide a bit of comic reliief throughout the otherwise grim tale.
9. Benny Safdie as Edward Teller
Behind the camera, Benny Safdie and his brother are responsible for hit indie films like Uncut Gems and Good Time, the latter of which Safdie also starred in. Since then, he’s taken on plenty of other juicy roles, including Pieces of a Woman and Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. In Oppenheimer, he dons a thick Hungarian accent as Edward Teller, a physicist who some might remember as "the father of the hydrogen bomb." Safdie has some pretty dramatic moments amid the atomic bomb aftermath.
8. Tom Conti as Albert Einstein
Albert Einstein on the big screen! Lookalike Tom Conti nailed his few scenes as the genius who played a part in Oppenheimer's atomic bomb creation. His on-screen colleague-like chemistry with co-star Cillian Murphy are some of the most powerful across the film's three-hour duration.
7. Josh Hartnett as Ernest Lawrence
He's back! After years away from the spotlight, American actor Josh Hartnett (now 45 years old) has been slowly making his way back into Tinseltown. After a couple of recent Guy Ritchie projects and an interstellar episode of Black Mirror, Hartnett plays a juicy role in Oppenheimer alongside Cillian Murphy, as their characters' team gradually makes their way toward the Manhattan Project's ultimate goal that is the atomic bomb. Hartnett looks the part and so much more. Good to see you again, sir!
6. Gary Oldman as President Harry S. Truman
You may have heard by now that Oscar winner Gary Oldman makes a stellar cameo in Oppenheimer — or maybe you've just seen it for yourself. His White House appearance as President Truman will quickly remind you why he's such an iconic actor. Pictured above is Oldman's previous role in a Christopher Nolan film, from the Dark Knight trilogy. With Oppenheimer, we remember how Oldman is also quite skilled in playing villainous roles. In his lone scene, Oldman's Truman faces off against the titular character in, essentially, a game of verbal chicken. You'll see what I mean...
5. Florence Pugh as Jean Tatlock
Florence Pugh's sex scenes with Murphy are making headlines at the moment. In Oppenheimer, the Academy Award-nominated actress plays Jean, an on-again, off-again love interest throughout the film whose mentally-conflicted character ultimately has a tragic ending. Pugh continues to take Hollywood by storm following her other talked-about film from last year, Don't Worry Darling. "Don't get me flowers" is perhaps her most memorable line in Oppenheimer, as she repeatedly tries in vain to turn away the temptations of Murphy's persona during the film.
4. Matt Damon as Leslie Groves
Make that two awards-caliber roles for Matt Damon this year. First came Ben Affleck's Air, where Damon played the Nike guy responsible for signing Michael Jordan himself. With Oppenheimer, Damon tackles a supporting role that was perhaps even more fun to perform, as the wise-cracking U.S. military man who coordinates the New Mexico breeding ground for WWII's atomic bomb. "'Zero' would be nice," he tells Oppenheimer when told that the chances of the whole world ending are slim when they try detonating the atomic bomb.
3. Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss
This is Robert Downey Jr.'s best role in years, and it won't be surprising if he gets an Oscar nomination or win for Best Supporting Actor in the upcoming race. Here, the Iron Man actor plays Lewis Strauss, who's often regarded as a villain in American history thanks to the controversial Oppenheimer security clearance hearings following the atomic-bomb dropping. Thank goodness for a role like this, so that Downey Jr. doesn't remain pigeonholed as Tony Stark forever. His monochromatic scenes are some of the film's most tense and rewarding alongside co-star Alden Ehrenreich.
2. Emily Blunt as Kitty Oppenheimer
Oppenheimer is certainly dominated by male personalities, but that doesn't mean A-listers like Emily Blunt — in addition to Florence Pugh — can't shine as well. Blunt plays Oppenheimer's wife Kitty, who we see spiral into alcoholism as she juggles parenting with a high-maintenance chap like J. Roger.
She may get a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her work here, and the scene that would seal the deal comes in the third act when she's interrogated by Roger Robb (Jason Clarke) during her husband's security-clearance hearings. It's her moment of utter glory and serves as a fresh reminder why Blunt just cannot be stopped. We can't wait for her starring role in the next A Quiet Place installment, of course!
1. Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer
And then there's the man himself, Thomas Shelby — oh wait, that's another beloved Cillian Murphy project, aka Peaky Blinders. Murphy finally gets a lead role in a Christopher Nolan feature with Oppenheimer. Not only is he just the titular role, but he virtually swallows the entire movie whole with his dominating performance — and that's saying something for a film that's overstuffed with a plethora of other famous actors.
He's slimmed down, and you simply cannot look away from those piercing eyes radiating knowledge and terror. If Murphy doesn't get showered in nominations come award season, I will be surprised, to say the least.'

Christmas movie night
A/N: This fic is also a gift for a Secret Santa for @expiredfishbuns on twt! And her MC, Iman. Your MC is really cute and it was a pleasure to write this fanfic
Thirteen x Iman
"I am here!" Thirteen opened her arms, waiting for Iman to run up to her for a hug. "You're finally here, if you had stayed out any longer I would have thought you went to set a trap for Solomon." Kissing the top of her girlfriend's nose she went to make herself comfortable in the human's bed.
"I wouldn't dare to miss our movie night for the world, especially with the holiday coming. I am not going to catch you alone any time soon with everyone going around." Flashing Iman a big grin Thirteen continues. "Besides, I've already made sure to set up a trap for that sorcerer, I was late because I couldn't decide on a way to wrap up your present."
It didn't seem to be a big present, but knowing Thirteen anything could be in there. "Are those some of your minitraps taped on the present?" Iman pointed towards the neatly packed present. It was dark green with a bit of white sprayed on in order to resemble snow on a tree while what seemed to be tiny red bombs evenly scattered along the package resembled small Christmas globes.
"I call these little guys, exploding surprise nr. 36, they are set to go off if anyone besides you or me tries to open up your present." Pointing towards it, Thirteen started to explain more about her new invention. "I made sure to put a spell so your present wouldn't get damaged if the bombs were to go off." Looking one last glance at the gift, she finally put it away.
"I say we leave the gift giving for after we are done watching some movies. I've picked some Christmas themed ones from the human world." Iman said as she was browsing through the list of movies that she picked. "I am sure you'll like these ones in particular, the main character sets up some pretty elaborate traps for the bad guys." After she pressed start on the movie, Iman climbed in bed, wrapping her arms around her girlfriend. Thirteen made herself more comfortable in her girlfriend's embrace, back against her chest.
Throughout the duration of the movies, the reaper seemed to take note of various traps set by the kid. "I may use some of these traps myself in the future, that kid is a genius!" After that comment both of them proceeded to get into a comfortable silence. The only lights in the room coming from the TV, the Christmas lights outside of the window and some weird faint glow coming from Thirteen's present.
After a few movies Thirteen started to get bored of them. She would constantly shift her position making Iman also not be able to focus on the movies at all. "Did you really get that bored of them?" Thirteen looked up at her girlfriend in annoyance. "Not only did they change the main character, the traps aren't as interesting! It doesn't feel genuine anymore"
Iman sighed and got up from the bed in order to change the movies. While she had her back facing she started to hear some rustling sound that sounded all too familiar. "Wait, don't tell me-" Turning around she caught her girlfriend red handed. "Are you really trying to sneak a look at your gift!?" Blushing upon being caught Thirteen tried to deny it. "Of course not! Why would I want to do that anyway? It's not like I want to see what you got me, why would I want that in the first place?!" She turned her head in a way she wouldn't be able to see the deadpaned look on her girlfriend's face. If she pretends like she didn't just get caught trying to steal a look at the present maybe Iman will believe her.
She did not believe her in fact but she couldn't bring herself to be annoyed at Thirteen at all, especially when she was acting to flustered. "Maybe we can take a break from the movies and exchange the gifts, while we are at it we might as well get some more snacks, we really ate them all in such a short span." She was aware that Thirteen had a sweet tooth, especially when it comes to anything Luke would bake but it was still ridiculous! She could give Beel a run for his money when it came to eating sweets.
Thirteen hearing about both the sweets and the presents turned to face Iman. "I'm going to bring the snacks, you get your present ready for me!" After making sure Thirteen left Iman went to retrieve her gift bag. From the looks of it Thirteen didn't get to see what she actually got her, and even if she did she would be confused since there were two items in it.
Inside there were two matching Christmas sweaters. One of them had a skull resembling Thirteen's tatto on her leg, but instead of the eyes being simple circle they were shaped like Christmas trees. It mostly red and green with a black contour around the skull. Iman had this sweater costom made just for Thirteen. The other sweater was way more simple. It was just in red and white with snowflakes around it. The only thing more special about it was the image of a white book with a red Christmas tree on its cover.
Thirteen didn't take long to come back with a big variety of snacks since the kitchen was next to Iman's room. "I got there before Beel had the chance to raid the whole place." After dumping all the snacks on the table she proceeded go get even more out of her pockets. "I've decided to take some more, I don't think there will be any more left once he finally steps foot into the kitchen"
She picked some cookies and went over to Iman who was waiting for her in order to exchange gifts. "Since you were so curious about what I got you, you'll be the first to open it."
Handing the gift to Thirteen, Iman waited anxiously to see her girlfriend's reaction. She has waited weeks for that gift to be delivered and she nearly gave up on it so she really hoped it will be well received or else, she would got to dig a hole for herself and die.
Thirteen grabbed the sweater with the skull on it first. "You actually managed to find a Christmas sweater with a skull on it?! Where did you even buy it?" A sigh of relief left Iman's lips as she saw the excited look on girlfriend's face. "I had it be custom made, and if you look closely, it should remind you of something." Thirteen threw her a suspicious look and inspected the sweater even more. "Wait...this looks like my tattoo"
Throwing her arms around around Iman she hugs her tightly. "Thank you so much! You're really something else." Thirteen started to leave kisses all over her girlfriend's face which made her giggle." Wait stop, that tickles!" Iman lost her balance in her fit of giggles and fell, taking Thirteen down with her and despite both of them falling down on the floor."Wait, shit, I am so sorry! Are you ok?" She tried to appear serious but it failed miserably by bursting out laughing. "You don't look really sorry to me" Iman tried to fake being mad while catching her breath from all the laughing but she couldn't stop smiling.
They spent a few minutes to calm down and not burst into another fit of laughter just from looking at one another. "I saw that there was one more Christmas sweater. Is it also for me?" Iman shook and picked up the second sweater. "This one is actually for me! I thought it would be cute if we had matching sweaters!" Thirteen wanted to tell her how those sweaters don't match at all, but she couldn't bring herself to ruin Iman's exciment. After all, if her girlfriend said the sweaters match then they match. She will argue with anyone that says otherwise.
Suddenly getting an idea, Thirteen got up and grabbed her sweater with a big grin on her face. Iman seemed to be confused on what exactly the reaper wanted to do since she only got that look when she had an idea for something. "You said it would be cute if we matched right? Then we should do just that! I will go change over while you do it over here."
She went into the bathroom to change while leaving Iman alone. She was happy to see that Thirteen liked her present enough to go change into it in less than five minutes. Picking up her sweater she went to change herself.
Once both of them changed Iman thought they would get back to exchanging gifts but Thirteen kept looking her up and down. "I feel like there's something missing but I don't know what." She leaned closer to Iman trying to figure out what's missing. "That's it!" She bolted towards one of the dressers drawers in the room and pulled out numerous kinds of makeup products. "I am wearing makeup and you aren't. If we want to match you should let me do your makeup too."
Iman couldn't help but chuckle at Thirteen's logic. "Laugh all you want but that's not stopping me from doing your makeup. No go lie on the bed and leave everything to me." She just shook her head and complied to the request.
Once Iman laid in her bed Thirteen followed suit and sat on her lap. "Don't think anything weird about this ok?! This just makes it easier for me to do your makeup." The human wanted to raise an eyebrow at her girlfriend's comment but decided against it so she wouldn't make it harder to put makeup on. "You just made it sound ten times more suspicious with that comment of yours." Thirteen pinch Iman's cheek as a way to show her annoyance. "Here I am, doing you a favour and you keep on teasing me? I will require some special thanks after I am done doing your makeup!"
The room was silent as Thirteen was focusing on not fucking up the makeup. "I just have to trace this just at this angle and...I am done!" Making sure to close the eyeliner and toss aside. "I must say, I did a really good on job on this, but I think I still have a small detail to add."
"Like what? You have been working on my makeup for a while now." Thirteen didn't say anything as she gently cradled her girlfriend's face with her and left a kiss on the top of her nose. "This. Now it's perfect."
Iman just laid there dumbfounded as Thirteen got up and stretched like nothing happened. "Are you going to sleep over there or what? Get up, you still have to open your present!"
"Just promise me those mini bombs won't explode in my face." Thirteen eyes widened with feigned shock, putting a hand on her chest. "Are you saying that my traps will fail me? I've already told you it won't explode for either of." Iman rolled her eyes at her girlfriend's antics but she couldn't help the smile on her face. "I will take your word on it then."
She got out of the bed and walked over to Thirteen was holding the neatly packed present. She nearly felt bad for wasting the work she put in it. "If you worried about wasting the bombs, I will find another use for them later." Now she didn't what to focus on, the fact that Thirteen could read the concern on her face, which was sweet, or the fact that she will literally use bombs on someone, probably Solomon, later. It was no use to waste time thinking about it at the moment, especially that the anticipation about what her present she got was killing Iman.
"A book? Wait, this looks really familiar-" Thirteen couldn't help but grin. "And not just any book. This is one of the original mystery novels written by Agares you were searching for. It took me a while to find him in Devildom. It turned out he was on a vacation in the human world."
Opening the book on its first page, she points out to a signature. "I even got him to sign it for you. You have no idea how hard it to track him down." Iman closes the book to throw one more fond look at it before hugging Thirteen thightly. "Thank you so much! I have been looking for this book everywhere and not only did you find it, you got the author to sign it himself! I love you so much."
In her excitement she didn't realize she was squeezing her girlfriend a little too hard. "I am really glad you like, but can you please stop trying to hug me to death? I am the grim reaper here not you." Realizing what she was doing she immediately released her hold on Thirteen. "Sorry, I guess I didn't realize I could do that. I just got excited thinking I can finally read this book." She started to scratch the back of her neck in embarrassemnt.
"Then you should do just that." Iman threw her a confused look, not knowing what she was referring to. "You won't be able to focus on any of the movies because you're going to keep thinking about the book, so you might as well start reading it now." Thirteen said it as a matter of fact, like it was the most obvious thing on earth but Iman couldn't simply accept it. "And what about you? This movie night is for both of us. It would lose its meaning if I was the only one having fun."
Thirteen couldn't help but roll her eyes at the fact that her precious human couldn't get where she was coming from, even tho it wasn't obvious for anyone but her. "Isn't it obvious? You'll read it out loud for me to listen. This way we are both getting entertained. You are getting to read your book and I get to listen to you, which is way better than any Christmas movie." Maybe not better than the one with the little kid that sets traps that they've watched earlier but Iman didn't need to know that.
"If you say so, then I will take your word on it but I better hear no complaining that you're getting bored if you don't end up liking the story." And with that both of them settled to cuddle on the bed. Thirteen was resting her head on her girlfriend's chest, eyes closed in order to listen more carefully to the story while Iman had both of her hand around Thirteen. She used a spell so the book would levitate so she could read it with disturbing the grim reaper sleeping in her arms.
Besides Iman's voice reading the book the room was silent. Thirteen tried to keep up with the story but the human's voice was so soothing and the Christmas sweaters were so cozy but she couldn't but fall asleep, snuggling closer in her girlfriend's hold.
It took a while for Iman to notice this since she was so focused on her book, but when she did finally look down to see if Thirteen was still listening, she couldn't help but sigh when she saw her sleeping. "I should have expected this." Leaving a kiss on her head, she tighten her hold on Thirteen. "You're really lucky you're cute." And with that Iman went back to reading her book.

Snippet of my story:
Samantha burst into the Daycare, banging the doors wide open, starling you and Sun with her sudden appearance. She looked frazzled, her cheeks flushed as if she had run a marathon on the way to the daycare. Her eyes frantically searched the room until they fell on you. “Samantha, what a pleasure to see you,” Sun began as she stormed her way over and unceremoniously grabbed you by the arms, ignoring Sun completely.
“Did you read the email,” she asked, shaking you slightly.
“What email?”
Samantha released you and hurried to the security desk where your tablet lay. Your curiosity piqued, you followed her. Sun following after as well seeming just as curious about her outburst. “Wonder what it is,” you mused aloud. Samantha could be rather excitable, you knew from experience, but there were times when her panics had merit.
“I hope nothing bad happened,” Sun worried too with a soft whisper before you both made it to the desk and the girl thrust the tablet into your hands. “Read it aloud if you’re allowed to,” Sun requested.
“Oh, it's fine if you hear. It involves you and Moon too,” Sam said sitting on the desk with her arms crossed.
You looked at the glowing screen and read the subject line, “‘Pizzaplex closing for Renovation - Information for Staff Included’. The plex is closing? But–”
“Keep reading,” Samantha ordered, cutting you off completely, and so you complied.
Sun fidgeted nervously beside you not liking the idea of being left behind or shut down during the renovations, but he watched you as you continued to read his body language changing from nervous to elated as you reached the end of the email. “‘All handlers will be tasked with maintaining designated animatronics throughout the duration of the renovation. Charging units will be installed in the homes of each handler for ease of use.’ Wait a minute–”
“We get to go to your house,” Sun yelled out excitedly before lifting you into a bone crushing hug and spinning you around. “Oh this is going to be so much fun! It will be like a giant slumber party! We can play games and tell stories! You know, I’ve never been out of the plex before. I’m so, so, so excited to see your house.”
“It’s less of a house and more an apartment, Sunny,” you said to him, struggling to breathe while in his embrace. You patted his shoulder to be put down and once your feet were planted firmly you began pacing. “Which might be problematic because it’s a small place. Not big like the plex. The ceiling is going to be too low and I don’t even know if my landlord is going to be okay with it. And where am I going to put a charging station for you both?”
Sun watched you pace, head tilting as he took in your extremely nervous behavior. You were not responding to the news as excitedly as he was hoping you would. In fact, it seemed to stress you out. Your heart rate had spiked and you looked extremely pale. “Dewdrop,” he asked, reaching to take your hand in his own. “There is no need to worry.”
“What do you mean there is no need to worry,” Samantha asked aloud. “We are poor people, Sun. This is going to destroy my electricity bill.”
“No, no, the email says that will all be compensated for,” you said, earning a relieved sigh from Samantha as you continued to read over all the guidelines that were in place for each animatronic.
Sun wrung his hands together anxiously. “Then why are you so nervous?”
“Because I live in a tiny one bedroom apartment and you guys are going to be uncomfortable the whole time. We also hardly have any time to prepare for this. It says here that we get the charging stations sent to each home tonight to set up and then you guys move in tomorrow after closing. Man, that’s not enough time to get everything cleaned up and ready.”
“Moon and I can help clean up once we are there. You help us clean up every evening after all. It will be no trouble.”
“No,” your voice is firm and Sun can’t help but be perplexed by your answer. Before he can speak you continue, gesturing your hands to emphasize your point. “Sunny, I live in perpetual chaos that for some reason makes complete sense to me. If you help me clean I will never find anything ever again.”
“That makes absolutely no sense,” Sun responded.

Circle of Life
Although I’ve notched more than a 100 hours into Xenoblade Chronicles 3, I’m still some distance away from the finish line when it comes tot he story. Despite that, I felt compelled to write on a few themes that immediately arrested my attention within those first few hours of the game and have stayed with me since.
So, this isn’t a review of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. It isn’t even an impression of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. It’s me, Kyndaris, trying to break down the heavy themes within the world building and lore of Aionios and putting my critical thinking hat on.
Maybe.
I was always bad at making profound assessments of the literature that was pushed on us during English class so this might end up being an entirely different beast altogether.
After all, when is a door not a door? I know, dear readers, that you would have answered with ‘ajar but this is no mere riddle. Anyone want to take a second guess? No?
Well, it’s when that door is being used to pound some metaphorical point over your head due to its SYMBOLISM!
Tumblr media
In the first few hours of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, the world of Aionios presented to us is a bleak one. Two factions, Keves and Agnus, have been locked in an endless conflict. There’s no exact reason that is spelled out for why the sides are fighting - only that in order to survive, they need to kill the other side. After all, it’s not just their lives on the line, it’s the flame that lives inside them that is used as an energy source to power their respective Ferronises.
Our initial three protagonists, Noah, Lanz and Eunie have all suffered significant loss and trauma from Agnian forces. After racing through the streets of a city to celebrate the Queen’s anniversary, the scene shifts and they’ve been thrust into a conflict where individuals only live for a duration of ten years before returning to the Queen. As clones, their main purpose is to fight blindly, obeying the orders delivered from on high.
And because of this reality, there are certain truths about the world that are never questioned.
Ring any bells for what’s been happening since February this year? I’ll give you a clue: it’s in Europe.
But what became really clear throughout the game is that the endless war between Keves and Agnus was the perfect metaphor for life’s struggles. Especially when things are difficult and it feels like there’s no escape.
Change is a scary thing. I’ve talked it about in many of my posts for this year but change is a necessary component for growth. While there is security in remaining in the perpetual ‘now’ - a moment frozen in time - a life stagnant means no innovation. Rather, slowly but surely, it becomes an endless grind. One that many trapped in the rat race would be familiar with.
For the characters themselves, this means setting up short term goals in order to live something even remotely close to what might be deemed ‘normal.’ Moebius said it best in a side quest.
People want to live. They want a peaceful life of plenty. In order to do that, colonies need to elevate their rank to Gold. After all, nobody wants to fight. Nor do they want to continue the cycle of hatred that comes with losing their companions in a violent fight to the death. And yet the very means to reach that lofty goal is to reap the lives of their foes.
The grand charade that Moebius has set up for the hapless souls trapped in the world of Aionios.
To break free from the yoke of combat, our protagonists break the Flame Clocks that chain the colonies around the world as they seek a way to end the state of perpetuity of their world.
After all, can it really be called ‘living’ if all they’re doing is surviving and nothing changes?
But even when the colonies are freed from fighting, there is much that needs to be done. Though they no longer need to fight others to stay alive, to keep themselves fed and prospering is another struggle that they must face.
In life, this is equally true. Just because you’ve quit a job that was sucking up your soul, in order to put food on the table and keep a roof over your head, in our capitalist society, one requires a source of income or the skills to source the items you need.
In life, nothing is free.
It takes grit to keep on living. There are no easy answers.
And as each of the disparate colonies work towards their own independence, they showcase the unique components of what makes us life so thrilling - whether that be the miracle of birth or old wrinkly people (remember, these clones are only alive for ten years. They have no real concept of age or procreation. For our protagonists, these are strange concepts - although they all seem to have the biological creation to create new life. Which, in and of itself, is a bit strange). Heck, there isn’t even a sense of modesty!
One of the first bathing scenes shows Eunie with Lanz and Noah, unembarrassed about taking a bath together with the boys.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has much to unpack about life itself and possibly about processing trauma and grief. The state of the endless now could also be comparable to mental health and depression - with people sinking to new lows because of the state they find themselves in with only ten years to live and make their mark on their world.
For this humble blogger, it was the perfect exploration of the human condition with its themes of war, strife and finding purpose in a world that oft times might be unfair and uncaring. Here’s hoping that I’ll get to see the light at the end of this very lengthy tunnel!

does daily vpn stay on all the time
Daily VPN usage
Using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) on a daily basis has become increasingly common for individuals and businesses alike. A VPN allows users to maintain their online privacy and security by creating a secure connection to another network over the internet. There are several reasons why people use VPNs on a daily basis.
First and foremost, daily VPN usage ensures that sensitive information such as passwords, financial transactions, and personal messages are protected from hackers and cybercriminals. By encrypting data and hiding the user's IP address, a VPN adds an extra layer of security when accessing the internet, especially when using public Wi-Fi networks.
Moreover, many people use VPNs daily to bypass geo-restrictions and access region-locked content on streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video. By connecting to a server in a different country, users can enjoy their favorite movies and TV shows that are not available in their region.
Additionally, businesses rely on VPNs for remote work, allowing employees to securely access company resources from anywhere in the world. By using a VPN, employees can encrypt their communication and protect sensitive corporate data from potential breaches.
In conclusion, the daily usage of VPNs provides a practical solution for maintaining privacy, enhancing security, accessing restricted content, and facilitating remote work. As online threats continue to evolve, incorporating a VPN into your daily online routine can help safeguard your digital presence and ensure a safer browsing experience.
VPN connection duration
VPN connection duration is a crucial aspect to consider when selecting a VPN service provider. The connection duration refers to the amount of time your device remains connected to the VPN server during your online activities. Understanding the significance of connection duration is essential for ensuring your online security and privacy.
A longer connection duration means that your device will stay connected to the VPN server for an extended period. This is beneficial as it reduces the frequency of reconnecting to the server, ensuring a continuous secure connection throughout your browsing session. It is particularly useful for users who engage in activities that require prolonged online presence, such as streaming content or downloading large files.
On the other hand, shorter connection durations may be preferred by users who prioritize speed and performance over prolonged security. For those who require quick and temporary access to certain geo-restricted content or websites, a shorter connection duration can provide faster browsing speeds and minimize latency issues.
It is important to note that the optimal connection duration may vary based on individual preferences and usage requirements. Some VPN services offer customizable connection duration settings, allowing users to adjust the duration based on their specific needs.
Ultimately, the connection duration plays a significant role in ensuring a seamless VPN experience. Whether you prioritize security, speed, or convenience, understanding and selecting the appropriate connection duration is key to maximizing the benefits of using a VPN service.
VPN always on
VPN always on is a feature that ensures your internet connection is consistently secured and encrypted through a Virtual Private Network (VPN). By enabling the VPN always on setting, your device will automatically connect to the VPN server whenever you access the internet, providing an added layer of privacy and security.
One of the primary benefits of having the VPN always on is the protection it offers against potential cyber threats, such as hackers, identity thieves, and data breaches. With your internet traffic encrypted, your sensitive information, like passwords, financial details, and personal data, are safeguarded from prying eyes.
Moreover, VPN always on is especially valuable when using public Wi-Fi networks, like those in cafes, airports, or hotels. These networks are hotspots for cyber attacks, making it risky to browse the internet without proper protection. By keeping your VPN always on, you can browse anonymously and securely, even on unsecured public Wi-Fi.
Additionally, using VPN always on allows you to bypass geographical restrictions and access region-locked content. Whether you want to stream your favorite shows while traveling abroad or access websites not available in your country, a VPN always on ensures you can do so without limitations.
Overall, VPN always on brings peace of mind knowing that your online activities are shielded from potential threats, your sensitive data is secure, and your internet freedom is unrestricted. Consider enabling VPN always on to enjoy a continuous and secure online experience.
Constant VPN connection
Maintaining a Constant VPN Connection: Ensuring Security and Privacy
In today's digital landscape, where cyber threats lurk around every virtual corner, ensuring the security and privacy of your online activities is paramount. One effective tool for achieving this is a Virtual Private Network (VPN). A VPN creates a secure connection between your device and the internet by encrypting your data and routing it through servers located in different regions.
One key aspect of utilizing a VPN effectively is maintaining a constant connection. A consistent VPN connection ensures that your online activities remain protected at all times, whether you're browsing the web, accessing sensitive information, or communicating with others.
One benefit of a constant VPN connection is the continuous encryption of your data. By remaining connected to the VPN server, your data is consistently shielded from prying eyes, reducing the risk of interception by hackers, government agencies, or other malicious entities. This is particularly crucial when using public Wi-Fi networks, where the risk of cyber attacks is higher.
Moreover, a constant VPN connection helps bypass geo-restrictions and censorship imposed by certain websites or governments. By masking your IP address and routing your connection through servers in different locations, a VPN allows you to access content and websites that may be restricted in your region.
However, it's essential to choose a reliable VPN service provider and configure your device settings properly to ensure a seamless and uninterrupted connection. Factors such as server reliability, connection speed, and encryption protocols play a crucial role in maintaining a constant VPN connection.
In conclusion, maintaining a constant VPN connection is essential for safeguarding your online security and privacy. By encrypting your data, bypassing restrictions, and ensuring uninterrupted protection, a VPN offers peace of mind in an increasingly digital world.
VPN staying active
Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) are essential tools for maintaining online privacy and security. One important aspect of using a VPN is ensuring that it stays active throughout your online sessions. A VPN connection can drop unexpectedly due to a variety of reasons, potentially leaving your data exposed. In this article, we will explore why it is crucial to keep your VPN active and how you can ensure a stable connection.
When your VPN connection drops, your internet traffic is no longer encrypted and could be intercepted by malicious actors or monitored by your Internet Service Provider. To prevent this security risk, it is vital to monitor your VPN connection periodically and make sure it is active when you need it most.
To maintain a stable VPN connection, choose a reliable VPN service provider with a track record of uptime and strong encryption protocols. Additionally, consider enabling features like a kill switch, which automatically disconnects your internet if the VPN connection drops, preventing any data leaks.
Regularly updating your VPN client to the latest version can also help ensure a stable connection, as software updates often include bug fixes and security enhancements. Furthermore, selecting a VPN server close to your physical location can improve connection stability and speed.
In conclusion, keeping your VPN active is crucial for safeguarding your online privacy and security. By choosing a reputable provider, enabling built-in security features, and staying vigilant about your connection status, you can enjoy a safer and more secure online experience.

The Ultimate Guide to the Best Homeopathy Doctors in Gurgaon
In the bustling city of Gurgaon, where traditional and modern medicine blend seamlessly, homeopathy has emerged as a preferred choice for many seeking gentle yet effective healing. Homeopathy, known for its holistic approach and minimal side effects, offers a unique pathway to wellness, treating the patient as a whole rather than just addressing symptoms. This guide aims to navigate you through the landscape of the best homeopathy doctors in Gurgaon, ensuring you find the right practitioner for your needs.
Understanding Homeopathy
Homeopathy is based on the principle of 'like cures like', a practice where ailments are treated with minute doses of natural substances that, in larger amounts, would produce symptoms of the ailment. It's a personalized medicine form, with remedies tailored to each individual's specific symptoms, lifestyle, and overall health.
Why Seek the Best Homeopathy Doctors in Gurgaon?
Gurgaon, a city with a rich heritage in holistic wellness, hosts some of the most renowned homeopathy doctors in the country. These practitioners combine years of experience, deep knowledge of homeopathic principles, and a passion for healing to provide care that's both effective and empathetic. Seeking the best among them ensures you're under the care of someone who not only understands the nuances of homeopathy but also prioritizes your well-being.
Finding Your Homeopathy Specialist
When searching for the "best homeopathy doctors in Gurgaon," consider factors like experience, patient reviews, and area of specialization. The best doctors are those who listen, understand, and develop a treatment plan that resonates with your body's natural healing process. They should also be transparent about the treatment duration and what you can expect during the healing journey.
The Consultation Process
A hallmark of a great homeopathy doctor is the depth of the consultation process. Be prepared for an in-depth discussion about not just your physical symptoms, but also your emotional and mental well-being. This holistic approach is what sets homeopathy apart, making it crucial to choose a doctor who takes the time to understand you fully.
Testimonials and Success Stories
Testimonials from past patients can offer insights into a doctor's approach and success in treating various conditions. Success stories, especially those similar to your situation, can be particularly reassuring. They not only highlight the doctor's expertise but also demonstrate the potential for positive outcomes through homeopathic treatment.
The Role of Homeopathy in Overall Wellness
Homeopathy can be a key component of a broader wellness strategy. It's often used in conjunction with other treatments to enhance overall health. For those also exploring mental health support, finding the "best psychologist in Gurgaon" can complement your homeopathic treatment, addressing all aspects of health in a cohesive manner.
Continual Care and Support
The best homeopathy doctors in Gurgaon are those who provide continual care and support throughout your treatment journey. Homeopathy is a process, and having a doctor who is committed to adjusting your treatment plan as needed and offering support through healing crises or plateaus is invaluable.
Conclusion
Choosing the right homeopathy doctor in Gurgaon is a deeply personal decision. It requires finding a practitioner who not only has the credentials and experience but also resonates with you on a personal level. As you embark on this journey towards holistic healing, remember that the best care is comprehensive, considering every aspect of your well-being, from physical to mental health. For those looking to address mental health concerns alongside physical ailments, consider also seeking out the best psychologist in Gurgaon, ensuring a well-rounded approach to your health.
This guide serves as your starting point in finding the best homeopathy doctors in Gurgaon, poised to guide you towards balanced health and wellness with their expertise and compassionate care.
