"that you could be so cruel" ok correct me if i'm wrong but does penelope featherington not run a gossip rag that exist solely to publish unsubstantiated rumors about women she doesn't like for various reasons that have profoundly negative repercussions on those women (didn't the publication of marina's pregnancy lead to marina almost dying in her quest to terminate said pregnancy??????) and has in fact used that same rag to put not just colin's entire family but also specifically colin's sister, her best friend, through a significant amount of grief and strife that came as a direct result of that rag?
but colin's the cruel one? because she happened to eavesdrop on a conversation where he said he doesn't wanna date her? that's cruelty but all the other stuff isn't?

btw i love revenge stories i dont think anyone should ever move on peacefully. a bit obsessed with the way weissman went to the synagogue and rabbi and asks, "my choices killed a child. would god take mercy on someone like me?" and the rabbi says "it's not god's mercy you should look for. its the child's" and like you think that would spur this man into charitable activities and to maybe look out for orphans but instead he goes on a 24 hour revenge bender that ultimately ends in two revenge killings and his own death. what's better than righteous anger and wrath and love twisting someone into the worst but also a truer version of themselves <3

I think there’s something ironic about how one of the things Kristen was told about Helio and why she should come back is the idea that the bad things that have happened to her wouldn’t have happened if she’d stayed Helio’s chosen one.
But like the very first time she died she was still with Helio. Through most of season one despite her questioning her faith she was with Helio. Some of the worst moments of her life happened in the name of Helio. Her parents essentially kicked her out and kind of disowned her in the name of Helio. Her own coach tried to kill her in the name of Helio. While she was still with Helio. If being with Helio would’ve stopped her from dying the second time then why didn’t it stop her the first time.
And like the most recent episode only proves that point because Buddy was supposed to be Kristen’s replacement, the new stand in chosen one for the salvation they longer have (because they chased her away. Because she wasn’t what they wanted her to be). And he still died. He was betrayed horribly and Helio didn’t help him at all, as far as we saw. There was no warning, no divine intervention on Helio’s part. And no matter how much the church or his grandpa wants to pretend he is he is no chosen one to be cherished and kept alive at all costs unless for the greater good. And unlike Kristen he can’t simply bring himself back from the dead.
If Helio was really all that great maybe he shouldn’t have let his two favorites die so horribly huh.

I’ll never forget when someone I considered to be a close friend said I was racist for stating that Palestinian children are brainwashed into hating Jews at very young ages.
And, yknow what, I think it’s time I address that because it’s been making my blood boil for that past few months.
What about Tomorrow’s Pioneers?
What about this puzzle right here?
What about the fact that Hamas uses child soldiers to kill Israelis and Jews?
What about Hamas’s ‘summer camps’?
What about the fact that a large majority of Palestinian adults hold antisemitic values, meaning they are bound to teach those same ideologies to their children?
What about the fact that Hamas openly supports the Nazi Party while also being extremely involved and tyrannical in their civilian’s lives, meaning they very much could have, oh, I don’t know, taught it to their civilians? HELL, KIDS IN PALESTINE AREN’T EVEN TAUGHT ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST IN SCHOOLS.
It’s not ‘racism’, it’s fact. Stop infantilizing Palestinians.
Condemn Hamas while also acknowledging that their civilians hold many of their ideologies. It’s ok to feel bad for the citizens, but it is not ok to purposely stay in the dark because you don’t like the truth.
My entire life, my mother has taught me about my honor. How I should never let anyone besmirch my name, including myself. One time my mom was accused of doing something inappropriate in work when she had not.
My mom was upset because her honor had been violated by lies about her character. And I thought my best friend would know me better than that. She lied about my character and who I am as a person.

there’s a question to be asked i think about to what extent “getting out” can be conflated with “being saved” in this show, and what freedom actually means to any of these characters.
like you can argue that shiv saved ken by voting against him on gojo, but what if your intent behind saving someone is to inflict a worse punishment than if you’d just left them trapped? can a child weaned on poison survive on milk, or are you just sentencing them to a death by inches, starved of the only thing they know? and if you save someone specifically because you know that being saved is the worst thing that can happen to them, is that kindness or cruelty? at what point does a good thing become a malicious act?
and you can say that roman is finally free, but what exactly is he free from? the company? his father? does unlocking a cage mean saving a dog, or are you allowing him out on the street knowing there’s a kill shelter nearby? if the driving anxiety behind roman is that he’s an idiot and a failure—that he’ll never amount to anything, and trying will only lead to pain—and he’s finally cut loose once all of those anxieties have crystallized into cold hard fact in his mind, what has he actually escaped from? if the cage is in your mind, is it even possible for somebody else to unlock it?
the fundamental truth of a tragedy is that even being saved can be a death sentence, if the characters are incapable of escaping the thing doing them the most harm (themselves and their childhoods)
#'what about shiv' if i think about shiv i'm going to kill myself. she needs her own post. there's too much there to get into.#anyways seeing a tremendous amount of At Least Roman Is Free <3 tags that have me going. right. for sure. free from what?#because it's certainly not the intense amount of self disgust that has driven him in circles this entire time.#i fear he may feel the weight of alienation on his soul for the rest of his life. and he won't even try to alleviate it anymore.#and ALSO the idea that shiv went out of her way to save kendall as an act of like. altruism. like it was a sacrifice on her part#which i feel is a very toothless perspective on shiv and the psychological torment that's been weighing on her essentially since birth#like her choice in regards to gojo is one of the meatiest most harrowing bits of character work i've ever seen#and while of course there was love inside that action (because nothing these characters do is entirely divorced from love)#i don't think it was necessarily a kind or forgiving or sacrificial love#like this was an intense vitriolic snapping from a dog that has been kicked by her dad all her life.#and who absolutely refuses to accept that from her brother (because that would mean acknowledging that kendall takes the mantle of Dad-#and that she's subservient to him. which is the one thing she absolutely will never do#because it's a level of degradation that's finally a step too far)#anyways. um. insane season that i still can't look at directly or i'll perish on the spot.#succession

Oh wait this is fucked up actually. Marcy grew up around Simon while he was actually already under the effects of the crown (both physically and mentally). He was already unraveling by the time they found each other, even if he still felt like he was 'himself', so Simon as we know him, regular-ass Simon, would be in ways a kind of stranger to her. Physically, in his appearance and presence decoupled from the effects of the crown; situationally, what with them not being in a barren wasteland and whatnot; emotionally and personally, with Simon maybe doing things or showing himself to be things that Marcy didn't know to expect. And add to that how much they've both changed over the course of their lives since they separated...
While Simon managed to see her life through Ice King's eyes for a while, I like to imagine the memory is fuzzy at best and entirely unreliable at worst, so — in a way, truly, their reunion is them getting to know each other all over again, in a new dynamic, but with the base of that same old, foundational relationship; that same old, old love.
And I'm so normal about it.
#(the reconnection of a grown up kid and her dad who she only knew as an active user after he gets out of rehab) who said that#<- projecting hard#adventure time#nick.txt#marceline abadeer#simon petrikov#fionna and cake#Do you think Simon has a strained relationship with self-expression and silliness after being IK. Do you think it makes Marcy think about#the Simon who raised her - always cracking jokes to help them both cope?#You ever think Marcy gets a bit weirded out by how... normal... post-canon Simon is.#Do you ever think Simon gets bouts of 'madness'* and she's like 'oh hey I know this guy'.#Do you ever think she tells childhood anecdotes from that time he wasn't there and he gets this heavy look of regret he cant quite hide--#(at this point i have been shot with a tranquilizer dart)#*I think the relationship AT has with the complicated-ass concept of altered consciousness/'madness'/mental illness is really interesting#and has a lot of potential for expansion in fic#What with themes alienation from yourself and from others. What with the portrayal of what your being 'mad' 'does' to you/those around you.#What with themes of guilt and forgiveness and acceptance and responsibility and healing.#Like. If youre like me and you hc Simon as having a litany of mental struggles. At what point does that differ from#the magic-induced altered state?#and what does that look like and feel like? How does that affect himself and his connection to others?#I think its a very easily dismissed concept bc of how it brushes some pretty stank ableist tropes#but I also think it could be incredibly#resonant if treated skillfully and compassionately and realistically#to put it crassly#local man finally free of crazy-crown-curse discovers he has severe mental illness. like. the normal person kind.#has to deal with that.#tldr simon my friend simon my favorite he/she grandma who experiences psychosis <3#and marcy my friend marcy my favorite she/they mitski stan who just wants love to surround her#the tags in this post are like three other posts. im right tho

The saddest thing is the witcher could have portrayed healthy found familial relationship in a non-traditional way, but they went and forced yennefer into the role of mother, geralt into the role of father, completely did away with jaskier, and didn't even bother to consider that every single witcher in Kaer Morhen could be considered ciris father, but no, there's a husband and a wife and a child and that's all there is to it
#witcher#the witcher netflix#geralt of rivia#jaskier#yennefer of vengerberg#also yennefer is historically NOT a good maternal figure for ciri#it was so ooc for geralt to just completely forgive her at th end of s2#like i have never had a child but i do have nieces and nephews and they are very dear to me#and if anyone pulled that sort of shit with them i would hunt them and waterboard them not cuddle them on a battlement jesus christ#also the fact that like the witchers are relegated to uncle positions is so fucking dumb#a girl can and should have 20 dads if she wants#bc like kaer morhen is basically a commune right#so they good have given us some good non stereotypical family vibes maybe some polyam#but they ruined it#they gave us two people who could barely stand each other forom the time they met and a lady who traumatised this guys daughter#and they were like nah its fine theyre gonna live happily ever after#WHERES THE FUCKING BARD#IS HE LIVING HAPPILY EVER AFTER#also fuck socially acceptable family dynamics and fuck netflix and fuck whoevers writing these godawful scripts (fuck henry cavill?)#and fuck the last episode for that unsatisfactory scene where they just cuddle up on a fucking roof like yen didnt give ciri trust issues#for decades to come#if i was geralt i would have slit her throat then and there#nothing comes before children#i was gonna be done here but its so narratively unsatisfactory like they havent seen each other in a year(s?) and his loyalty is with her#instead of his own daughter???#the man who prizes morality and justice over everything else?? is fine with dragging a literal child into her need for power??#what. the fuck.#okay im done#it could have been good but netflix fucked it the way they do everything so#fuck you netflix

sighs.... dl!pearl........
its the way she found her soulmate and tried to go with him after he and cleo denounced martyn. because of course-- its her and scott and cleo. its the three of them again. just like last time. its the three of them, friends and companions and sticking by each other to the end.
and then scott tells her no. tells her you arent my soulmate. cleo is. you lost that right. and that... cant be right. that cant be right can it? its the three of them. its always been the three of them.
but no. no, shes left-- standing there, alone. tilly the only one by her side. nobody else cares about her. nobody else loves her. martyn left, and scott and cleo left, and-- and for the rest of the games everyone who accepted her ended up leaving.
its not her fault that things go wrong around her. it was a series of coincidences that turned her into an omen of anger and death and danger. and it was that omen that everyone else saw in her.
and if everyone, EVERYONE, sees her as an omen of danger and death, as the scarlet witch?
then. maybe she should be.

idk, i feel like it can’t be overstated that satine kryze /would/ be so proud of bo-katan especially right now. she’s unifying the people, she’s gaining respect and loyalty beyond that which lies with the darksaber, and she’s doing everything in her power to keep her people safe and well.
she even gave up and surrendered everything, taking huge risks to ensure the safety of her people, and while it backfired her intent was so good and pure. she’s come so incredibly far from when she was in death watch, she’s living with kindness instead of hate, and i think that’s everything satine would have wanted for her.
i see people say that satine would blame bo-katan for what became of mandalore but i couldn’t disagree more. satine knew how hard ruling mandalore was. she’d never hold it against bo now, especially with everything bo did to save it, and with everything she’s doing now to get it back.
satine would be so incredibly proud of her and i won’t hear any different.
