When the twins casually reveal that Moroha was the one who informed them of their heritage, inquiries are thrown in her direction on how she came to know Sesshomaru before either the girls did.

Moroha successfully dodges them until Sesshomaru himself reveals that their first encounter involved her biting his arm.

Kagome is horrified that her daughter would blatantly challenge a great demon but Inuyasha is in hysterics when he discovers that the arm she bit was his left one.

I can’t help thinking about how now that they are all free, Inuyasha and Kagome are absolutely going to have another kid. Hell, the only reason they don’t already is because the Border of the Afterlife probably prevents that sort of thing. (I mean, you know they were fucking in there. What else is there to do.)

They are both still young, especially with the slowed aging, and both have so much love to give and desire so strongly to be able to raise their children (as they should have been able to do with Moroha). Which also opens up the question of how they all would feel about that situation - would Moroha be jealous that the new child gets to grow up with their parents, unlike her? Would she carry any buried resentment? (I don’t think she would actively resent them - it’s not in her, and it’s clear she doesn’t blame her parents for their separation. But still, it’s got to be hard to see someone get to have what you had always wanted.)

Would Inuyasha and Kagome’s guilt be compounded? I mean, obviously they would be thrilled to be parents again and to have another chance to raise their child, but of course they would be thinking of their first. Some part of them would always blame themselves for not being able to be with her. It would be an interesting mix of joy and bitterness. Joy for this new chance, and bitterness about the one that was taken from them.

Of course, they’d all work it out. That little family’s got too much love in them not to. And ultimately I know one thing for sure - Moroha would be be the best big sister ever. She’d do anything for that kid.

"Inuyasha!" He heard her scream, and although slightly sluggish, he turned to see her running from the bushes, stumbling slightly as she tripped.

The village people were emerging, concerned, awe-struck, terrified, curious. A quiet murmur was humming, causing his sensitive ears to flick, and he caught the question of a conjurer multiple times. They'd heard Moryomaru. They'd seen the arrow from their windows and hiding spaces. And, Kagome was coming through with her quiver on her shoulder and a bow in her hand.

No.

"Kagome, go back!" He shouted, trying to get up and run to her but stumbling on the palms of his bloodied hands as he turned around.

She dropped the bag she'd loosely thrown over her free shoulder to the ground, her bow right next to it as she skidded to her knees when she was near enough. "Don't move, don't move." Kagome urged, her hands hovering around the sides of his face.

"Listen to me, okay?" Inuyasha started, his tone hushed and hurried. "You need to run. I'll catch up."

"No." Kagome cried.

"Baby, please." He reached for her, his dirty fingers tremblingly wrapping around the back of her neck. "You have to."

"No! I'm not leaving you!"

I kinda like but dislike that Rumiko and Sunrise (and fans) have never even mentioned that miko (priestesses) are virgins. And that their shinto ability to tend holy places comes from being unmarried virgins. In modern day I guess it is not really required but I kind of wish more people analyzed Kikyo, the dark priestess, Kaede and Kagome in that light.

Personally I think that due to the era Kagome would not be allowed to remain a miko after getting married and having a child. She would still be one of course due to her spiritual ability, but I think she would no longer be allowed to remain in that societal role.

Kagome is so spunky though that I see her rebelling against it. I think Kagome's strength in being outspoken is another great contrast between her and Kikyo. While Kikyo was confined by society and was only freed from expectation when she became an impure monster. Kagome was outspoken and loud to where she didn't have much of a societal role and yet remained 'spiritually pure.'

There is a huge theme of 'societal expectation' in Kagome, Inuyasha, and Kikyo that I think being a miko is a part of.

Personally I'm torn on Kagome loudly choosing to get married and have a child VS remaining a Miko and Kagome choosing to attempt to do both.

Fanart of the fabulous SessKag fanfic, The Once and Future Taiyoukai by RosieB, which I originally read years ago and has stuck with me since. Was unable to find a tumblr account for RosieB sadly, but the fic can be read here! Note, this comic depicts mostly a scene from chapter 26, so it is very spoilerific and probably makes more sense if you’ve read the fic. Also CW for lots of blood >:D

So I guess this outs me as a long-time and faithful Sesshoumaru/Kagome shipper. Ah well.

This is meant to be read as a continuous scroll. Tumblr seems to have nuked some of the quality and I may debate posting to Webtoons, which is at least designed for continual scroll comics.

One thing I've noticed in Inuyasha is that whenever Inuyasha is on the brink of death or on the edge of giving up entirely, all it takes is Kagome saying his name and he regains the will to either live or continue fighting.

Kagome is Inuyasha's strength and in a sense his reason to keep on going in life even though he sometimes just wants to give up. She's his lifeline in so many ways and his reason to keep fighting.

Inuyasha and Kagome's relationship is the very definition of loving someone is to live for them and I love that.

She turned toward InuYasha and demanded, "What do you want?"

The white-haired hanyou smiled and puffed up his chest. "You're doin' well with that kata, but I can give you some pointers if you want."

"I don't."

She turned to stalk away, only to have him zip around in front of her.

"Come on, K'gome! I just want to talk to yah. It feels like forever since we just talked. We used to talk all the time."

As she had no memories of talking, she couldn't tell if he was being truthful, though his scent held no lie. But just looking at him made her want to sink her claws into his chest and rip out his heart.

Whenever I think back on my childhood in regards to that INSANE hyperfixation I had with Inuyasha, it's honestly really hilarious to me how my young self was BEEFING so Hard with Kagome and Kikyo. She HATED those two with all the atoms in her small body.

I feel like talking about this scene, cuz HOO BOY, this scene... You can just physically see Inuyasha shutting down emotionally. He's coping with killing people and he's prematurely trying to cope with his friends deciding to leave him.

(Just as an aside, I find him sitting there silently in the water staring at his hands more impactful than the anime where he was frantically scrubbing. It's not like Inuyasha to be silent and contemplative like that. There's a sense of wrongness to it. But that's me.)

He lashes out at Kagome that he doesn't care because he thinks she's going to decide he's a monster anyway, and he can't show how much that idea hurts him.

But Kagome reaches out to him, and offers him the acceptance he can't give himself right now. And he takes it. Which is HUGE. He would not be able to at any other time or from any other person.

I'll also just point out that it's the idea of potentially hurting Kagome against his own will that ultimately leads to him wanting to get stronger AS HIMSELF, and not rely on transforming. He has her acceptance. Mastering his own blood is his way of working to accept himself.
