What2Finish Charity Auction

Hello Everyone,

The Mods at What2Finish were brainstorming a charity auction when the news of Typhoon Goni/Rolly’s devastation reached us. Given the seriousness and immediacy of the issue, we have decided to pivot our efforts towards starting our Charity Event with this cause. This event will donate all its proceeds towards charities that support the people of the Philippines that have been affected by recent typhoons.

What is the What2Finish Charity auction?

What To Finish, or WTF as we have been fondly calling our little brain baby, is a charity auction that auctions Creators’ works in progress and/or any of the HCs/prompt piles/plot bunnies in their to-do horde. This is a fandom wide event so any and all fandoms are welcome!

This event encourages, but does not require, people to create auctions for things they’ve started, want to finish, or something new they want to try. 

An auction offering can be a series or project you’ve started but haven’t had the time to update or it hasn’t been a priority between all the bangs and bingos and other charity auctions.

Any story, drawing, craftwork, or even an idea you want to try!

Again, this is not required. If creators would like a more traditional auction of offering anything within your likes, please do!

We are going to be pushing to get creator sign ups out in this week so be on the lookout for that post!

So I just wanted to promote the amazing What To Finish charity auction, one that’s donating to the Philippines after the typhoon. It’s a really cool event where the creators auction off their WIP’s so they get the motivation to finish them, while helping the people of the Philippines! There are still two days left to sign up as a creator, after which the preview week will begin! Here’s a link to the tumblr account for this event!

I’ve submitted two auctions for this event, one of them two 5+1’s focused on Steve’s enhanced senses, and one of them a Shrunkyclunks soulmate AU that is a sequel, so I hope to see you there!

Also, if you guys would like to see more of my writing, not just art and theories, please let me know! This event has been inspiring me to keep my social media and AO3 accounts more organized!

ADHD/Autistic listening is like

Middle of the night, my gf says, "I'm gonna eat a chicken sandwich," but my brain stops at "chicken." And that was a very confusing moment for me.

I'm like, "She's gonna eat a chicken? A whole-ass chicken? Where would we even GET a whole chicken at this time of night, all the supermarkets are closed, I mean, we live in the Philippines, where you're never more than 100 feet from someone's chickens, but that would just be weird for a lot of reasons, like we can't just STEAL a chicken, even though I know how because Sergeant Camba taught a class on it when I was stationed overseas (don't get sidetracked thinking about military stuff, Rob, stay with the chicken), but neither of us has ever like, killed and plucked and butchered a chicken, and I don't WANT to kill a chicken even though I often refer to them as unprocessed chicken nuggets, and it's the middle of the night and killing it might be messy, too, I gotta talk her out if this, and wtf we have food in the fridge, chicken, in fact, but not like, a WHOLE chicken, but still, can’t she just eat that, or maybe she means she's going to eat a LOT of the chicken breasts or chicken nuggets we have, or maybe she's being hyperbolic like when people say they could eat a horse, or--"

And then the word "sandwich" clicks, and I breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Why am I doing this? Well, first of all, I’m exploring options as a travel blogger, (wahaha.)

Secondly, ilang beses nag-fail ang uploading ng pictures sa album kaya gumawa na lang ako ng blog post para maiba.

This is our 2nd Day and Last day here in Baler.

Ang ganda gumising pag ganito ang makikita mo. Peaceful ang paligid, maririnig mo ung huni ng ibon at ang masarap na  simoy ng hangin.

Currently naglilipat ako ng mga videos and pictures sa laptop ko para ma-clear ang space sa sd card ko.

ok balik tayo sa story time 

Dahil mga around 2am na kami umuwi galing sa Cauti Bar & Grill sabi namin mukhang di tayo makakagala sa umaga sa dami ng nainom namin.

"Party last night comatose kinabukasan."

Kaso wala eh, ginising kami ni TatayJohn mukhang tuloy na tuloy ang pag-punta sa mother falls. (Oh noooo)

Nakatambay ako sa area near the rooms. Then Tatay John sat next to me and hinawi niya yung bangs ko and said:

“Bakit mo ba tinatago yang mga mata mo? What’s wrong?”

For a split second I want to cry, I want to tell him that I am not okay, I want to hug him and cry, I want to tell him everything. Then it hit me of what I did back then to Ryan and I don’t want to burden Tatay John with my problems. So I just said that I’m fine meron lang akong hangover.

The trail to Ditumabo Falls

The Mother falls of San Luis Aurora Location: San Luis, Aurora

Getting There: A tricycle tour of Baler with a stop at Ditumabo Falls can be arranged for as low as P800 for a trike that can sit at most four passengers.

Well I guess, sulit naman siguro ang 800 mo coz the tour also includes stops to other attractions around Baler such as Baler Museum, Dona Aurora Aragon Quezon House, Baler Church and Plaza, Ermita Hill, Fish Port, Lukso-Lukso Islet, Añao Islet, Diguisit Falls and the Old Balete Tree.

Geographically speaking, Mother Falls is situated in the town of San Luis, a neigboring town of Baler, specifically in Barangay Ditumabo, where the waterfalls got its name. But its proximity to Baler makes it an ideal sidetrip when visiting the surfing capital of Eastern Luzon.

Cliche as it may sound, but your trip to Baler is not complete without trekking to Ditumabo Falls.

But getting to Ditumabo Falls is not a walk in the park. From Baler, one needs to ride a tricycle or a van to get to Barangay Ditumabo and trek for approximately half an hour to see the waterfalls. It is not an easy trek, it involves river crossings and the trail is generally rough and rocky (and quite slippery), but it is one rewarding trek. first of all kailangan nio ng tour guide dahil mahigpit na sila ngayon dahil meron ng nalunod sa falls.

Tour guide fee: P200 (it depends kung bibigyan nio sila ng tip)

Entrance fee: P30 per head

Towering at around 140 feet and with the cold water from the highland of Sierra Madre Mountain Range, Ditumabo Falls is an imposing icon of the province. The freely cascading water drops into a wide rocky basin forming a natural pool ideal for swimming.

After namin mag-lunch...nagpahinga muna kami ng konti then si Tita Mely naman ang maglilibot sa amin sa ibang tourist spots sa Baler. Dinala namin ni Ate Caren ang mga camera namin--nagdala pa ako ng lens. Nung nasa loob na kami ng van napansin ni Ate Caren na naiwan niya ang SD CARD at pati BATTERY!! tawa-tawa pa ako nung nalaman ko then nung makarating na kami sa first stop namin nagtataka ako bat di gumagana ung camera yun pala naiwan ko yung battery. *cries*

Baler Church

The Siege of Baler  (July 1, 1898 – June 2, 1899) was a battle of the Philippine Revolution and concurrently the Spanish - American War and the Philippine-American War. Filipino revolutionaries laid siege to a fortified church manned by colonial Spanish troops in the town of Baler for 11 months, or 337 days.

Doña Aurora Quezon house

Smack in the middle of the town of Baler stands the birthplace of the Philippines’ First Lady during the commonwealth government (1935 to 1944), Doña Aurora Aragon-Quezon.The house had undergone some major restoration but the original details and design were not altered. It retained its “bahay kubo” look featuring fine hardwood walls and nipa (Palmer’s grass) roof.

Museo de Baler

The Museo de Baler is situated within the park grounds. For a P35 fee we were treated to exhibits of several artifacts featuring the lengthy history of the town and Aurora province (the province used to be part of Quezon province – formerly Tayabas – until its separation in 1979). Particularly interesting are several photos from the Spanish colonial, American colonial and Japanese occupation periods. The museum also houses several paintings, sculptures and other works of art.

The Millenium Tree

Location: Maria Aurora

This park contains a 600-year-old balete tree that was designated the official "Millennium Tree" of The Philippines. It is the largest tree of its kind in Asia, and it would take 60 grown men, holding one another at arm's length, to encircle its gigantic trunk.

Nguso Theory of Distance

Sa probinsya, kung magtatanong ka, ang sagot parati ay "ah malapit lang yan" o "diyan lang iyan".Pero sa tingin ko, ma-e-estimate mo ang tunay na distansya sa layo at sa oras depende sa accompanying "nguso action".

Kung lips lang, 15 - 20 min max.

Kung may kasamang ilong, mga 45 min.

Kung kasama na ang noo, more than an hour na yan.

Ermita Hill

abandoned place ang feels ng lugar --- kala namin konti lang ang steps yun pla ang rami pala. Napaaga ang pilgrimage namin ni Ate Caren.

For me, the best way to cap off a day tour in Baler is to relax in one of the view decks of the famous Ermita Hill while enjoying the breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean. Not only that, you can also reward yourself with the soothing atmosphere right at the top. 

Every bit of stress I had in Metro Manila that wanted relief found answer with the elusive beauty of Baler. It was one of those breathe-in-breathe-out-then-smile moments any person would deserve if they've been through a lot of things that are toxic. 

Aside from its magnificent landscape, Ermita Hill is known as a sacred haven for religious activities by devotees of the Miraculous Mother Mary, of whom a life-size statue is situated in a grotto on top of the hill. It also had its own share of history as it became witness to the devastating tidal waves that struck Baler in the 1700s.  

There was just something that needs a whole lot of explanation when you view the world in a different perspective. Most things in life are best captured not by words but by images that struck your mind. Baler, Aurora was a playground of the beach, the stairway, the lighthouse, the waves and the mountains. It is on places like this that you don't need to think. You just let the view take your breath away.

This is why now I understand most people's urge to travel

Kahit naghihingalo na ang battery life ng phone ko nagawa ko parin makuhanan ng pictures ang magagandang lugar dito sa Baler.

Pero pause muna. Nauubusan na ako ng joke. Mahirap pala ang blogging.

so i’m leaving in more or less 20 hours. i’m kind of a little sad that i’ll be leaving my life here and starting anew again, and getting myself all familiar with how my life was before uae.

to be honest, unlike all the other ofws working abroad, i’m one of those rare ones who’s not excited to go back to their home country, if not the only one.

ironic as it may sound, for someone who lives in a flat with a dozen more people, and in a room with 3 more people, but i feel like i have more privacy here?

also, i need to get used to having my things as close to me as possible. i can’t just leave my phone on the table in a foodcourt or in a fastfood resto anymore, unlike here where i can just leave it there unattended, while i go get ketchup or whatever like several feet away.

anyway, the last few days have been quite a challenge and a little too tiring. which wasn’t what i expected. like today, i’ve just sent my box to lbc for pickup, not even sent money to the philippines, or at least finish packing (wtf, right?).

OH, WELL. i’m just excited to get my shit together (hopefully).

He means only for a quick trip home to visit his family and friends (Rhodey and Pepper) but home is not as he left it. The Abhorsen - the one person who can keep the dead down - is missing, and the kingdom is falling apart. Featuring: magic, talking Alpine, walking dead, necromancer Bucky Estimated word count: 30K Pern AU, Steve x Tony x Bucky Where humans make lifelong, telepathic bonds with dragons, Tony becomes a gold-dragon rider. Men aren’t supposed to bond gold dragons, as it’s the gold dragons that lay the eggs, and so Tony’s dragon is assumed to be sterile and worthless. I can try to work the bidder’s likes & ideas into the fics! Some, like Abhorsen and Virgin Sacrifice, have >10K written so might be less feasible from a plot perspective. The Stuckony Pern AU, Price of Peace continuation, and Walking Tall AU are still very flexible. Winning bidder gets to choose the highest priority fic. If the bid gets to $30, then can choose the top two priority fics. If the bid gets to $60, then bidder can request a 5K fic of their own if they’d like! Creator Notes: I really just love making goofy stuff with "serious" mediums. I am comfortable with a variety of mediums (screenprinting, relief print, painting (acrylic or oil), and drawing (ink, pencil, charcoal)). I am open to most other characters, for both fandoms I know and don't, though I will need more references and such for characters I do not know. Email or DM me if you are interested in this rather than something listed. I'm open to input to a certain extent! If you have opinions, let me know and I might be able to work them in. There are some things I will not do simply because I feel I do not have the skill to do them justice. If bids go above $20, for all prints, I would be willing to send one to the bidder; certain other pieces I would be willing to send but as any other form of traditional art would be one of a kind, please ask (don't assume).
