kuroko no basket thoughts:

season 1 (2 and 3 under the cut)

pick one name for this show please. and no it can’t be “the basketball which kuroko plays” bc that’s way too long.

it’s comfort show time! (I’m gonna get hate but I enjoy knb more than haikyuu-I’m only explaining that if asked).

these kids are so extra lol.

“ball is life”

I did learn almost everything I know about sports from sports anime and thats kinda helpful.

do you ever go up to someone you just met and make them outrageous promises and also declare yourself their partner? no? just kuroko things.

poor kise gets treated like an attack dog bc he can mimic attacks and he really doesn’t deserve that.

it’s funny bc the whole show is about middle school trauma (and drama) which is...pretty accurate.

also underneath all the absurd powers/abilities the narrative is really sweet and the story itself is about friendship. the super extra abilities and visuals are just to draw you in and add another layer because anime/manga is a visual storytelling medium.

gotta love how kuroko just does risky things and then his tall friends come to back him up.

he promised kagami a partnership for basketball but kagami is really acting as his bodyguard to keep kuroko safe so they can actually play basketball.

does mitobe ever...speak?

midorima and midoriya are green and lucky. (no really, I refer to midoriya as deku to avoid mental confusion between the characters).

is midorima’s way of shooting threes even...possible/practical? (I’m sure this has been answered before but please send me links if it has).

it’s the color coordinated flip phones for me.

you know it’s 2000s- 2010s anime when they start bringing out the colored flip phones.

midorima is that bitch with everyones star chart memorized and you best believe he knows everyones lucky items too.

despite being some of the more basic character designs, I really like takao, izuki, and imayoshi.

hyuga is great. of course his personality is a little warped after having to destroy his figurines.

on that note aida is a sadist which is also great.

tbh all of the miracles are treated like tools by their highschool teams and thats 1 rude, 2 kinda fucked up, and 3 the reason they’re all stuck up assholes with god complexes.

the FUCKING TENSION at the tables when kise, midorima, kagami, and kuroko are at the restaurant together. (also takao leaving midorima there like the chaos agent he is, *chefs kiss*).

the flying food that just so happens to land on midorima’s head for me. (good job takao!)

SAKURAIIIIIIIII my favorite apologetic mushroom!! I love him.

they really called him “mushroom #9” ahhhhh.

honey lemons...no not like that.

so theres the “defeat my evil ex teammates” angle or the “defeat my evil exes” angle and both are correct.

its the ken burns-esque montages for me.

ah I forgot about kaijo’s rebound bitch. he’s loud.

imayoshi is such a snake. I love him.

kaijo got the best deal on a miracle. aomine is Difficult to work with, midorima is crazy, murasakibara doesn’t even like the sport, and akashi is Crazy™. kise is objectively the most normal and easiest to have on a team. plus he (debatably) has the best ability: perfect copy.

season 2

ah yes get ready for himura tatsuya and Cringe english.

also tepei you literally broke the “first years only” rule you helped create.

when murasakibara is on screen: attack on titan theme intensifies.

I think I like the visuals for the first op of season 2 (3rd overall op) the most. (it may be my overall favorite op).

murasakibara YOU CANT JUST RIP OFF SOMEONES EYEBROW!

vanishing drive here we come!

the real question is how himuro played street ball in jeans.

for midorima size does matter lol.

blond hyuga is always funny.

izuki being called cutie by the coaches dad lol.

ah the required hot springs fanservice episode.

being out of highschool now (I’m rewatching knb) the Kirisaki Daiichi High match is more painful. hanamiya is too cruel to ruin people’s lives like that.

the best scene is in episode 38. it involves scissors.

akashi literally owns all of them. he’s not your “former” captian if you still come when called.

akashi you can’t just stab people.

also your bangs look terrible akashi.

forget midorima’s shots, how TF does aomine do this!! are they possible? or would making them irl be more luck than skill?

midorima looks like a carrot in his uniform with the orange and green.

the best part of this is the matches are pretty short all things considered like theres two 6 episode matches and the final is like 9 but most are resolved kn less than five.

as a short person™, murasakibara personally offends me.

phantom shot is so hype.

I love how they name attacks like in shonen. it’s really cute.

why’s my favorite character type either pretty boy: himuro and takao or psychopath: akashi??

it should be illegal to not only break the basket but also single handedly lift up another human.

is kise allowed to talk to kagami and murasakibara during the yosen match? what was he doing so close to the court?

I’ve always thought hyuga, riko, and teppei gave off poly relationship vibes. they all look at each other/interact in the same way.

kagami as a point guard actually made me laugh out loud. it’s so out of character for him and it surprised yosen.

I love the end cards with the characters at the end of every episode.

crunchyroll has given me so many quest protein bar ads. is it because I’m watching sports anime?

himuro’s fakeouts give me death note “I know that you know that I know” vibes.

is the montage music the same as an op? if so which one?

season 3

I SHARE A BIRTHDAY WITH A KNB CHARACTER!

it’s fun that seirin comes full circle and plays kaijo basically last in the winter cup as they were the first team they scrimmaged in the series.

the pacing and balance of the show is one of the best parts. its complete and flows well .

the black wristband is so subtle, yet it’s been there since the beginning, such good foreshadowing. I honestly only noticed because I’m rewatching.

the nostalgia of the opening narration about the generation of miracles. yes it will get tiring like the first one, but I enjoy the throwback/reference.

one of the show’s strong points is the ability to circle back to things. combined with the steady pacing and overall balance between matches, training arcs, and fun excursions, knb is one of the most well rounded and complete feeling anime I have seen.

1 I forgot about haizaki, 2 he looked better with his middle school hairstyle, 3 he and hanamiya would get along like a house on fire.

the transition in the opening narration of the miracles from teiko to their current team’s uniform is so smooth and visually pleasing. especially akashi’s because you can see his eye change color.

the fireworks in the opening are kinda random but they are fun.

so I really loved bungou stray dogs op trash candy and it got me into granrodeo. I also remember liking (and still like) the music in knb. imagine my surprise when I found out granrodeo is responsible for like half the music in knb.

there’s so many grudge matches lol.

season three, the season of backstory and flashbacks.

aomine to haizaki: the only one who can mess with my friends is me.

ah the not so subtle introduction of rakuzan.

akashi has cat eyes. he literally is a cat.

ok but during the shutoku match when akashi ankle breaks two guys at once and then literally dribbles the ball over one of their heads. power move.

takao and midorima’s threes in the rakuzan match remind me of hinata and kageyama’s Freak-Quick attack.

I love mibuchi. so much. and hayama. so rakuzan might be my favorite team after seirin...

akashi is short. and a bit of a psychopath, but mostly short.

the bokushi/oreshi thing is a lot more obvious to see (hear) in a rewatch of the show.

SHAKE MIDORIMA’s FUCKING HAND AKASHI!

midorima doesn’t bow low, kinda like another tall, (standoffish) glasses-wearing character- tsukishima.

“declaration of war” “return the favor” kise is such a dynamic character and I like him for that.

isn’t kise a little too op?

awww I forgot furihata plays in the kaijo game.

kasamatsu is actually really cool.

it’s a shame that every new technique kuroko comes up with is defeated so quickly.

the TEIKO DAYS OP OMG I’M GONNA CRY!! THEY’RE SO SMALL AND CUTE AND INNOCENT AHHHHHHH! (episode 63)

knb is about fixing friendships/repairing relationships and I think that’s really sweet.

the similarities between aomine and kagami meeting kuroko are so good (and painful).

kuroko just really loves and cares about his friends. which is really nice to see.

the height difference between nijimura and akashi at teiko.

kuroko really said: my life was kinda a disaster, and then akashi happened and I picked up a misdirection book, and then it really turned into a disaster.

onigiri oops I mean Ogiwara-kun!

the miracles are sooooooo cute in middle school! they’re tiny and look so young and not traumatized.

underrated part of the teiko flashbacks is seeing whatever ridiculous item midorima is carrying around.

true talent is throwing a box of snacks like a basket ball and successfully hitting a moving target in the face.

me confusing personality types with Japanese blood type stereotypes: theres no way midorima is type B, he should be type A. me after reading what Japanese blood type stereotypes are: ah never mind midorima is selfish and uncooperative.

knb is also about unlearning behaviors/thought patterns to be a better person. and making fucking friends.

watching the miracles fall apart is not easier the second time, if anything it hurts more because you know it’s coming and there’s nothing you can do.

teiko was so toxic! like on every level the ideology of the school caused harm to literal children.

akashi does have a wholeass suit of armor in the dining room wtf.

there’s also of course the competing victory philosophies explored in the show not to mention the sport elements that are outside my immediate range of knowledge.

look at what you did, teiko: you fucked up a perfectly good group of kids, now they have god complexes.

so not only is Tsuchida’s girlfriend really pretty, but she’s also smooth af! way to make your s/o feel good about not being a starter!

the love I feel for mitobe, he’s honestly so great. he’s tall, quiet, and can cook.

of course rakuzan get’s their own op, they’re the final battle.

HAHAHAHA HOW DOES IT FEEL TO GET REPLACED?! (jk I love mayuzumi) but really making a kuroko 2.0 and debuting him during finals is cruel.

is mibuchi’s earth shot like allowed? is it ok to intentionally foul the opponent to get a free throw? or am I just overthinking this?

nebuya you don’t have to add “muscles” to all your move names. in fact please don’t.

YOU CAN’T DUNK YOU’RE ONLY 5′8″!! (not fair!)

hyuga gets stuck in his own head a lot.

only akashi would know how to manipulate the human body into kneeling.

rip mayuzumi. he gets used by everyone. his team, akashi, and kuroko. I would not be able to go back on the court knowing that I’m just a tool.

I honestly forget about the zone every time I watch knb. I could probably live without it. the flashy moves on the court were enough for me.

he’s baaaaacckkkk!!!

I like that while a winner was established, all the teams were still motivated for the future.

was anyone going to tell me nijimura and akashi switched jersey numbers at teiko when akashi took over as captain?? or was I just supposed to piece that together myself?

the extra episode for kuroko’s birthday is so cute!

midorima calling takao because his luck is bad and he saw a black cat is too funny.

it’s ok kuroko! for one day out of the year people remember you!

takao the delivery man: he specializes in special items for cancers and the occasional human named midorima shintaro (or himuro tatsuya lol).

furihata really has the worst luck lol. he opens the door and it’s akashi.

[Teiko!manager Headcanons]

in the aftermath of the Winter Cup, your relationship with Akashi has certainly gotten much better, and dare you say, more intimate and romantic; though you were still healing a bit from the emotional scars from Teiko, they seemed to be going away faster than you realized, especially when everyone gathers for Kuroko’s birthday party

you were with Seirin, helping with the decorations and setting up the plates before Kuroko comes in the evening, but what no one expected was for him to bring in the GoMs

YOU’RE SHOOK AND YOU’RE BASHFUL SEEING AKASHI IN HIS WINTER ATTIRE, you’re getting MAD butterflies, but no one seems to notice because everyone’s attention is on the GoMs and Kuroko

of course Akashi was scanning the room for you first, and you immediately look away from his affectionate stare because you were still not used to the old Akashi, let alone his sweeter side for only you

Izuki notices how quiet you got and nudged your ribs with his elbow before telling a stupid pun… the thing is, you were one of the few people who genuinely found his jokes funny LOL

Akashi widens his eyes, staring at you laughing so unabashedly, and he feels really, really bad that he never got that level of a reaction from you whenever you were with him even despite knowing you for longer

now as the party goes on, Akashi is seeing your dynamics with Seirin for the first time and he’s just really grateful that you found an amazing support group during your low times; he’s not particularly someone to get jealous, but he’s getting a BAD case of FOMO because he’s thinking of all the “what-if’s” and all the times he could’ve made you happy and stress-free

“Akashi-kun?”

“Ah… yes?” Akashi snaps out of his daze to see a mild smirk coming from Kuroko on his right side, and Kuroko was about to ask a question about who he was looking at before a shout of “Watch out!” and a ceramic plate came FLYING across the table to hit the Rakuzan captain square on his face

CUE SCREAMS OF PANIC AS MOMOI PUNCHES AOMINE ON THE HEAD AND RIKO JUMPS TO STRANGLE KAGAMI, AND YOU LITERALLY ZOOMED TO HIS SIDE TO CHECK ON ANY INJURIES

see, he could’ve easily dodged it, and he supposed that it’s his fault for not paying attention and dodging on time

thankfully, the plate didn’t break because Kuroko caught the plate before it reached the floor and placed it back on the table

Akashi still has a bruise or two on his face though… and ngl, everyone gulped when they saw him checking out the injuries with a handheld mirror, ready to get their ankles broken

you were so worried over his safety, he finds it really endearing… but he wants to elicit an expression other than looks of worry or tears or anger (flashback to when you cussed him out)

“Wait, but (y/n)...” Koganei said. “Since when were you so close to Akashi that you didn’t hesitate to touch his face?”

a few moments of silence for everyone to register his words

“EHHHH?????!!!!”

everyone is throwing QUESTION after QUESTION at the two of you, and Akashi just has a neutral face with his mouth parted while you were so embarrassed LMAO

Kise being a real best friend, tells them:

“Alright, alright, everyone! Let’s not forget about the birthday boy! Kurokocchi should be the center of our attention today!”

“Kise, that’s…”

“Anywho! Let’s light up the cake and find those party poppers…”

after the party though, when you all return to school, Seirin was READY to jump on you for interrogation, and you do reluctantly tell them that you and Akashi are a tentative couple

Riko: “SERIOUSLY? I mean… that’s kinda cute though…”

Hyuuga: “I mean… yeah, as long as you’re happy, it’s none of my business.”

Teppei: “I hope he treats you well, (y/n)-san.” and of course he gives you his signature head pats

Furihata, Tsuchida, Kawahara: “??????????????????? But why?”

Koganei: “Huh, guess that explains a lot.”

Kagami: “???????????? pt. 2 LMAO” and also “What do you even see in him?” in genuine curiosity

Izuki: “ I guess you two dove into this relationship without hesitation, eh? Get it, get it? Because doves are a symbol of lo—”

“Izuki, shut the fuck up.”

“It means that you love (Ai)kashi—” [Ai means love]

“IZUKI.”

Kuroko simply pretends that this is the first time he’s heard of you dating Akashi, and he gives you his heartfelt congratulations, and as long as Kuroko approves of it, you feel like you’re on the right track (he’s such a good judge of character!)

you and Akashi actually live VERY far apart, considering that your schools are equally just as far in distance, but that being said, for our rich boy Akashi, distance isn’t much of a problem when he can easily find ways to come visit any time

he can also pay for your transportation to visit Rakuzan if you ever felt like visiting him too (although, you insist to pay for your own things, but he’s not having it because he says it’s a treat for him to see you too)

whenever Akashi stops by the Seirin campus to visit, he’s just kind of awkward standing there like the prince that he is, waiting for the perfect opportunity to walk in, but every time, he’d ALWAYS notice how you’re so happy being with everyone here, especially with Izuki, and his guilt just comes back full force again

he wonders if this was right of him to date you when there’s so much people who can easily do a better job in getting you to smile and be completely yourself, especially since he’s been the source of your anguish for all these months (maybe even a year or two if he was counting the duration of your entire crush on him that you assumed to be unrequited)

“Seijurō!” your voice rang out, beckoning him to walk towards you and the group

all of the Seirin teammates are so wary of him, and are all hyper aware of his movements LOL, and Kuroko is just like “hi, you’re back” very casually

Kagami uses this as a chance to challenge a one-on-one on Akashi

Kagami gets destroyed in a few minutes flat

the whole time you’re just watching Akashi with heart eyes, unbeknownst to him while he was focused on Kagami

after the interrogation and Akashi passing the “first stage” of acceptance, you and him find time to have a cute date at a local shopping district to walk around and sightsee

Akashi finds it fun, he really did, but there’s a part of him that thinks you’d have more fun with people who know you better… a.k.a. Izuki, or legit any other Seirin member

he’s visibly distracted by his own thoughts, and you wave a hand to his face, asking if this was too boring for him

“No, no, of course I’m enjoying this with you,” he muses, putting a gentle kiss to your temple. “Shall we get moving?”

“Something’s bothering you isn’t it.”

“No,” he chuckles, giving a gentle smile, but you only frown at him… once again he sees that you weren’t smiling at him

“I’m serious Sei, I want to get to know the real you,” you softly chastise, pinching his cheek. “So I also want you to speak your mind around me.”

“Oh ho… I see that your boldness is still very present here,” he says in referring to your touch.

“Oh my god, can you drop it already? That’s so embarrassing—I cussed you out one time… hey don’t change the subject!”

“Hmm…” he hums for a bit before he comes clean. “I’m afraid that I might not be the right person to be worthy by your side after hurting you for so long.”

“... What makes you think that?” He hesitates, for the first time, not being so sure of himself and his emotions; he immediately thinks of Izuki and your good chemistry with him but dismisses the thought

“... I just do not think I’m capable enough to make you happy.”

“But you are. I’m very giddy to be with you right now.”

“Even happier than when you are with… your teammates?”

“Huh?”

“I apologize,” he hurriedly says. “They are your friends. I was out of line to question them.”

“No, no, it’s okay. Talk it out to me.” He’s uncharacteristically quiet as you both continue to walk and browse through the shops, and you carefully watch Akashi while he’s examining a few souvenirs on the display, patient for him to continue talking

“... the point guard.”

“I’m sorry?”

“Seirin’s point guard.”

“Izuki-kun? What about him?”

“While I’m aware that you only spend your time with him as a good friend… I want to spend just as much of a koala-ty time with you whenever we have the chance.”

he... says this with the straightest face, and you’re utterly confused before you saw some animal plushies on the store window, and the the koala plush, and then the cogs started turning in your head

“... Did you just say a pun?”

“Was it not sufficient?”

a few moments of silence pass and Akashi thinks he did something wrong because he wanted to make you smile (HELP poor captain), before you break into hysterics

between your fits of broken laughs and wheezes, you managed to ask if he was jealous of Izuki, to which he wholeheartedly kept denying until you wouldn’t stop being persistent

you reassure him over and over that he doesn’t need to act like Izuki to make you happy, but it was a pleasant surprise to see Akashi crack a “joke” nonetheless

he’s a bit new to the concept of dating and is still quite unsure of how to navigate this PLEASE GIVE HIM TIME

the date that day was a success (some of the Seirin teammates TOTALLY weren’t spying on you mid-date or anything…)

while Seirin is okay with you dating, visiting Rakuzan ALONE with the scary-ass captain and his “CROONIES” (hint: the rest of the team LMAOO) IS AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT STORY

RIKO AND HYUUGA are just like:

“What’s wrong with him coming here to visit you? Why do you gotta do the effort to visit him?”

“Uh… because I want to…”

“Yes, but who would you call to help over if something wrong happens? You’d be too far!”

“Uh, Akashi can help me if something happens.”

“With what, his scissors?” Kagami gives a deadpan look, and everyone turns to look at him in utter confusion LMAOOO like what does this redhead mean by SCISSORS???

Kuroko immediately jabs Kagami’s sides to silence him and smoothly changes the conversation before anyone asks any more questions about the “scissors” and potentially make them more reluctant to let you go

oh Kuroko, being the mediator and negotiator as always, trying to set some safety protocols for you to follow before everyone finally agrees to let you go see the infamous team alone

you know, Teppei is honestly just like, “Just go! Don’t worry about our (y/n) too much!”

Furihata is so concerned for your safety for valid reasons, but you reassure him that you won’t “die from the trip,” and no, this wouldn’t “be the last time” they’d see you before you leave

so when you stopped by Rakuzan’s gym after school after looking at the online maps, Hayama lets out a screech of terror before he starts pointing at you and calling you the “crazy ass chick” who tried to have a first-row seat ticket to death LOL

Hayama’s commotion brought everyone else’s attention to you, and Akashi was very surprised to see you all the way here

but he’s just standing at the back to watch how his teammates are reacting to you

Reo is the guy who would welcome you very warmly and would introduce you to the other team members who aren’t the starters, and he would actually ask if you were okay from last time

Nebuya is very laid back and throws a few muscle jokes much to Reo’s dismay, and he makes a comment about not you possibly not eating enough because at the time, he saw you almost tripping up your feet after you cussed out Akashi… he offers you his extra bowls if you ever feel hungry VERY SWEET GUY

Mayuzumi thinks you have balls, like who the fuck would come out alive after cussing out his captain but then COME BACK to said school of the captain… like why would you willingly walk back into the lion’s den??? so he thinks you’re dumb, but he has a shred of respect for you

Akashi is so amused at the spectacle and finally walks over to you after you noticed him

and he gives you an embrace and a chaste forehead kiss, and the entire gym goes silent

“Sei! I wanted to drop by as a surprise! Did you expect me?”

“Hm, I may have expected you to come sooner or later, but definitely not this quickly. Were transportation fees too much of a hassle?”

“Nope! I got everything covered! Do you want me to give you any chiropractic massages if you and your teammates need it?”

“You don’t need to do that, (y/n). You came here as a guest, not as a manager.”

“But…”

“Shhh, as soon as practice is done, I’ll take you anywhere you want in Kyotō. How does that sound?”

“Er… captain?” Reo holds up a hesitant finger to interrupt the two of you, while everyone else looks horrified at the sight of their captain looking serene

“Get a room, will you?” Mayuzumi only tuts in irritation while turning away to grab a nearby water bottle to down in one go

Nebuya merely stares in astonishment at the two of you, and his mind is thinking how the hell did you reel in this guy?

nah man, Hayama is GONE at this point: his brain has stopped functioning a while ago, and he’s standing there as stiff as a statue, scratching his head like a lost monkey // like he’s thinking how the fuck did this shit add up?? in his mind, he’s taking 2 plus 2 but it somehow ends up 94… that’s how he’s processing what he’s witnessing

the rest of the benchers and lower-string players are confused? who ARE you anyways?? Akashi?? dating??? that’s Rakuzan gossip of the century

TLDR; your first trip to Rakuzan may be awkward because the two of you stick out like a sore thumb, but eventually after multiple trips, the team slowly begins to consider you as one of their own

as per Akashi’s “suggestion” (hint: not a suggestion, but a strong recommendation), you were to be retreated with respect and kindness

why? Because Akashi never wants a repeat of the situation at Teiko ever again :(

as long as he is captain, and as long as he has the power and authority, he will do everything he can to make you happy and comfortable

don’t worry though, the Rakuzan starters are more than willing to punt any kid who talks shit about you

surprisingly, once Hayama comes around and accepts the fact that you were dating the captain, he’d be the most adamant and vocal protector, and he’s the one who shares the “inside tips and tricks” about the captain EEEE it’s so wholesome !!

the Rakuzan team is your certified bodyguard group, no debate

Reo might be the nosy mom who asks about who confessed first and the like…

KnB Season 1 Dub Thoughts!

Finished watching the first season of KnB on Netflix sooo here are my personal thoughts on/reactions to the dub :3

In general:

Some of the voices started out iffy but they got better as the show progressed, I think

Probably the main problem was some of the Americanized pronunciations of the characters’ names but I’m guilty of doing the same in my head so- [plain text: but I’m guilty of doing the same in my head so-]

Also the lack of “-san”/“-chan”/“-kun” like now there’s no difference between Aomine’s and Momoi’s nicknames for Kuroko, for instance TwT (and Takao was calling Midorima “Shin-chan” at first but it seems they just shortened it to “Shin” in the end)

But all in all, it’s pretty decent imo!

Kinda felt like I was watching KnB for the first time! Even though I actually already know the whole story and what’s coming, I’m glad I could (sort of) experience that initial thrill once again ☺️

As for some specific characters:

Kuroko: all I can say is Khoi Dao nails the soft-spoken voice (and Nigou’s barks) 😂 sounds practically how I thought he would!

Kagami: one of the voices that improved over time. Like it started not as “rough” as I was expecting, but that hotheaded voice that I imagined came soon enough. Still a little inconsistent here and there, but it’s not too bad

Seirin: they’re all good for the most part! Though, Tsuchida’s voice is higher than I thought it would be, and sadly it seems not all of Izuki’s puns could be translated (but I guess that was to be expected) 😭 also I had only ever heard Kiyoshi’s VA once before and it was as a villain so it took me a little getting used to lol

Riko: I always thought she’d sound like Chie Satonaka from the Persona 4 anime (voiced by Erin Fitzgerald), so I was a little surprised at the more.. mature(?)-sounding voice she officially has. But it sounds great~ Abby Trott was my voice claim for my KnB OC though so uhh guess I might have to change that ;w; [plain text: Abby Trott was my voice claim for my KnB OC though so uhh guess I might have to change that ;w;]

Kise: not.. quite what I imagined even though his VA is the one I figured would voice him. Expected it to be higher-pitched (his voice does go higher occasionally but like I thought that would be the case more often). It’s ok though, I suppose it kinda works for the more arrogant side of manga!Kise we don’t otherwise see *shrugs*

Midorima: ok I will say I almost spat my drink out the moment he first started speaking LOL [plain text: ok I will say I almost spat my drink out the moment he first started speaking LOL] his English voice isn’t as deep as what I’m used to, and he doesn’t seem to have a verbal tic like he does in Japanese (which is… a little disappointing, but ah well I didn’t even notice until the last few episodes >w<). Other than that though, it works I think? It suits his character and sounds closer to his age lmao and it’s kinda sexy in its own way yes I’m biased don’t @ me [plain text: and it’s kinda sexy in its own way yes I’m biased don’t @ me]

Aomine: tbh I had thought Ben Diskin would voice Takao (his voice as Caspar in FE3H is close to what I would’ve expected) xD I didn’t know he could pull off the voice that he did for Aomine but I’m glad he can bc it is perfect

Murasakibara: sounds more… laid back than bored? His usual voice could be a bit lower perhaps, but I guess I can see it working. Judging from the OVA (and from some of his previous work and knowing how versatile he is), Robbie Daymond can definitely pull off Mura when he’s angry so that’ll be interesting to see in S2 👀

Akashi: oook so his voice is probably the only one I’m really questioning like WHY IS IT SO DEEP [plain text: why is it so deep] 😭 it’s not that the voice by itself is bad or anything it just.. Does Not Fit (now if Akashi were taller then maybe but he’s a shorty) [plain text: (now if Akashi were taller then maybe but he’s a shorty)]. Buuut I’m willing to give it a chance, maybe I just need to hear more of him

Regardless of any flaws, I’m sure the cast is doing their best and working hard to breathe new life into these characters and bring the show to a wider audience, and I’m excited to see what they do with the remaining seasons! Here’s to the KnB fandom’s revival 🏀❤️

40. Hiding/hopingnot to be caught kiss (Fantasy AU)

Your blue eyes looked around furtively as you crept further intothe garden on silent feet, trying your best not to crush any dry grassunderfoot. The wind whipped your long black hair, sending goose-bumps down yourarms from the cold. You shivered a bit and drew your thin, ragged cloak furtheraround yourself, basking in what little protection it offered from the bitingcold, wishing you could afford better. He could easily give you warmer thingsand fine clothes, and had tried many times; but if anyone were to find outwhere they came from, the king would have your head – and once the humans foundhim, his head too.

He was already there; you could see him silhouetted against themoonlight, standing under the tree that marked your special spot. He seemed tobe looking up at the sky, and as you drew closer you could see the small smileon his lips.

He looked so different like this, you thought; so carefree andhappy. His eyes were closed and his posture was relaxed, hands in his pocketsand slouching like he would never be allowed to do back home.

A smile made its way onto your face as you decided to surprisehim. You took small and careful steps, getting in front of him. You placed yourbrown hands over his face and sang softly, “Guess who?”

He chuckled. “Let’s see... although I can’t exactly see rightnow…”

You couldn’t help but snort at his terrible pun, and spokeimpatiently, “Just guess!”

“You must be Junpei,” he decided, clearly stifling his laughter.

“Do I sound like that idiot to you?!” you asked, mock-offended byhis comparison of you and his best friend. “Try again!”

“I was not right, but you have not left… hey, that was good!” hemuttered, smiling, and you had to laugh.

“Come on, one last try,” you egged him on. He laughed a little andtook your hands in his, picking you up by the waist and spinning you around.

“I missed you,” Izuki said plaintively as he held you by the waist,staring intently at your face with his sharp eyes, his thin lips dipping into apout. “You look so beautiful tonight.”

Tonight your hair was messy and windswept, your brown skin dry andyour lips chapped – the farthest thing from beautiful. But no matter how youlooked – even if you were to wear a garbage bag and show up to your spot – he’dalways say that.

You smiled at him, drinking every single feature in – the darkeyes that sang sin and desire, the high cheekbones and Roman nose, the straightjet-black hair that hung over his forehead in the bangs you so loved to muss,the dark purple scales at the edges of his jawbone and temples that covered hishuman form entirely save the face when he willed it.

“I missed you too,” you admitted, reaching up to put your armsaround his neck. You were only a few inches shorter than him, thankfully, so itwasn’t much of a stretch. He smiled at you and kissed your forehead (which heloved to do), taking out your clip that held your hair to the side and sweepingyour princess-style fringe out of your face, clipping it into a small crestatop your head.

“I still don’t understand why you got this haircut, it hides yourforehead,” Izuki complained.

“Because it’s a princess cut, and it makes me feel a little morelike a princess,” you explained bashfully, a little embarrassed. “I’m thefarthest thing from a princess. Hime, more like hi-not-me.”The pun cheered you up a little.

“If you just agreed to get married to me, you could solve thatproblem,” he snorted, running a hand through his hair as if he could feel thefamiliar weight of the crown that usually rested there.

“But I’m not a shifter, Shun,” you giggled. “Least of all a dragonlike ryuu.” He didn’t smile at your pun, and you frowned in worry.

“Your aunt would allow it,” he spoke suddenly, pulling you close.His tone was serious now; no hint of a pun. “And I have no family to worryabout. It would be easy enough to Change you, too.”

It was sad but true. Your aunt hated you with a burning passion;she would be all too happy if you disappeared. And his parents had been killedwhen he was barely a child, the weight of a throne falling on his shouldersbefore he could speak. It was one of the reasons why he was so different in hishome; with them, he had to pretend to be perfect. With Junpei, with you,he could be himself.

But you couldn’t take his offer.

“I’m not a princess,” you managed. “You’re a prince. I’m a girloff the streets.”

“Does it matter?” His gaze was intense, serious. “Does anythingmatter when it comes to love?”

You stared mutely into his eyes, so full of passion and feeling.You couldn’t speak, overwhelmed by the intensity of both your feelings. Therewas a lump in your throat which you could barely swallow. You looked up at thesky, trying to blink back the tears that suddenly pricked at your eyeballs.

Your eyes widened in alarm as you watched the sky lighten. Theguards would soon be here – the patrol would change – and you hadn’t even kissedyet –

He crashed his lips into yours with feeling, glancing around evenas he did. The kiss was full of passion and pain and anger and hurt and love,so much bottomless love that your heart welled with it and you had to kiss himback with all the emotions he was giving you.

The sound of footsteps made you two pull apart. You crouched down,hiding in a bush; he scaled the tree lightning-fast and hid in its leaves. Bothof you held your breath as the guards passed, lazily marching, barely lookingaround. You doubted they would’ve spotted you if you had been kissing in themiddle of the path; most likely they’d push past you and slouch on.

He dropped down lightly with a feline grace, landing next to youin the bush. He kissed you againt, both of you furtively looking around formore guards. His mouth trailed down your neck, leaving you with pink cheeks anda mildly red neck which faded back to its regular brown with every breath.

“Come with me,” he whispered against your collarbone. “Come withme, (y/n). You’re the only person that has ever made me really happy.”

“I can’t,” you whispered back. “I’m not good enough-”

He raised his head and shot you a deadly glare, his years ofexperience in a royal court of thorns backing him up fully. You quailed alittle but sent back a street-hardened glare of your own. Two could play atthis game.

“Don’t you ever dare say that again,” he hissed. “Any man would bethe luckiest in the world to have you.”

You blushed, but remembered why you were arguing with him. “It’snot proper! You have to marry a princess who deserves you,”

“I can make you a princess if you marry me,” he whisperedpleadingly. “Please, (y/n). Please. I – my eighteenth year is to endsoon, and I won’t be able to slip away so often when I’m king. I can’t handlethem without you. The pressure to marry will mount, and I could never marryanyone but you.”

“I – Shun-”

“Please,” he whispered and kissed you again. It was a diffidentkiss, a kiss that was hoping not to be caught by anyone. A kiss that wasvulnerable and broken and pleading.

“Please,”

“Okay,” the word was out of your mouth before you knew it. Hiseyes shone brightly and he sat back on his haunches.

“Really?” he asked, mouth quivering. “You – you will? You’ll comehome and marry me?”

You clapped a hand over your mouth, but you couldn’t take it back.

And in the end… this is what you really wanted – even if youcouldn’t have it, more than anything, you had wanted it.

Who turned down a chance when it came knocking at their doorstep,after all?

So you smiled and nodded. “Yes.”

“Thank you,” he murmured, burying his face in your hair. You heldhim for a while, basking in just his presence, your heart finally happyfor once even if he would be leaving you in a few short minutes.

Sure enough, he pulled away from the hug the next minute.

“I have to go now. Be ready tomorrow night with everything youneed.” he instructed. “I love you,” His features softened as he said this andhe gazed at you like you were the entire world.

You nodded, heart thrumming with anticipation. “I love you too,” youtold him softly.

He kissed you one last time, short and sweet, and then he shifted,the great dark purple dragon only half-visible in the mauve dawn. You watchedhim as he flew, graceful and powerful, and waved until he was out of sight.

Then you slipped back out of the gardens, smiling like an idiot asyou ran along well-practiced paths to your rickety old home.

Just one more day and you would have everything you had ever dreamedof. A comfortable home, a good life –

And him.

satsuki’s moving castle

ok here’s an AU i actually have shit planned out for (and some chapters written) lmaooo it’s a momoi/riko howl AU!! riko = sophie + momoi = howl is rlly fun to write lol. also aomine is calcifer bc let’s be real that tiny fire demon was basically just demon!aomine. the chapter titles in this one are gold tbh i’m really proud of them -- examples are, “Do YOU Want A Charming Stranger To Sweep You Off Your Feet? [Not Clickbait]” and “Riko Aida Presents - Being Old Sucks, Part 1/? (Also, There's A Demon But That’s Not Important)”.

tiny snippet:

Riko could feel the stirrings of heat in her cheeks as Satsuki pressed against her, arm laying on her hand.

“Let me,” she said sweetly. Dazed, Riko did so, moving aside so Satsuki had better access to the food.

“Hand me a couple of eggs and some more bacon, please,” Satsuki instructed. Riko complied, doing her best to keep her composure. This was the wicked wizard Satsuki, not just any pretty girl - she had to be on her guard.

Satsuki cooked much the same way Riko did, planting a few doubts in the now-aged girl’s mind. Eggshells in the eggs, blackened bacon… perhaps her cooking really was bad.

Then again, from what she’d seen of Junpei, he did have a tendency to exaggerate.

“no its totally not gay for a girl to cook over your shoulder what do you mean” - aida riko, circa 1920 (approx. when this is set bc it follows the ghibli movie)

daiki’s basketball

yes its an aomine-kuroko roleswap yes i like torturing myself because it comes w/the bonus of inflicting this upon my readers. it’s my first multichapter, and like ewbts it’s also half posted and then i realised how shittily i’d written it so i started rewriting smh. the only redeemable bit about v1 is the summary bc it’s good for my summary standards:

tetsu had changed. tetsu was no longer his partner. but daiki saw that same spark in kagami, and even if he wasn’t one for sappy romantic stuff like tetsu, maybe this time… maybe this time the light he picked would stay with him.

“Well, you like painting. Maybe paint a basketball on the school wall or something?” Satsuki suggested absently, still looking at the giant chocolate fountain. It couldn’t hurt to go in and try it, right?

“Thanks, Satsuki.” Daiki’s voice had a sudden spark to it, and Satsuki’s eyes shot wide as she realised what she’d said.

“No - Dai, wait! You can’t-” But he’d already cut the call.

this is an older idea but one i still love tbh! i have to work around the setting bc i wanna set it in not-america 😂 i have a summary written up which describes it well so i will plug it:

Everything was in place. Zuko would have adopted Izumi by this time tomorrow; would have met the demands of his company; would be a father, the best one that he could. He had to admit he was a little more than excited - it’s not every day that you get to be a father, and especially not to a firecracker like Izumi. Now, if only Izumi’s social worker weren’t this attractive… and if only he weren’t the same man that Zuko had been absolutely, abominably horrible to the previous week.

its a zukka modern AU in which zuko is running his dad’s company after ousting ozai, and the board pressures him to get an heir. ace gay bean zuko decides he’ll adopt instead. also azula/katara subplot with katara being an intern at azula’s hospital (NOT in charge of azula tho bc that can lead to some weird power dynamics). highkey slowburn romance tbh. zukka hate each other for only a bit, but the friendzoning is unreal lmao
