if there's one thing i'll always love about yhs it's about how insane the world is. i feel like some people would find the bizareness to be annoying and inconvenient to write (like how chan was so plot relevant but she's literally a fucking yan sim character so sometimes she gets her name changed in fanfics)

but like... i personally think it's really charming. like you're telling me. PAUL BLART is in the same universe as PEPE THE FROG? and nobody bats an eye at it for more than a second when they first appear? that's actually hilarious!!! that's peak comedy!!!

i love the idea of yhs being so random that it hurts your head to think about. sure it's "bad writing" but they commit to the bit and it's so good everytime. i hate tokyo soul but the minions shit??? that was the weirdest subplot of all time but i'm intrigued???

idk what the point of this is. i just think that the hectic worldbuilding is so fantastically stupid and how it's so confident at the same time. i mean, that's the reason why all the dark parts hit even harder. you wouldn't expect a genuine arc in a series where literally nobody knows how old a character is supposed to be.

could you give me a brief rundown of the timeline of YHS because im too lazy to watch it and i need this info rn lmao -♡

OKAY

-Sam and Taurtis are foreign exchange students in Japan. i think they said they were freshmen or sophmores?? one of those

-Taurtis says All the wrong things, all the time. he is awful at following the dresscode. he spends all their money on video games. he has insomnia but sleeps everywhere, except for home

-Their teacher kills himself

-Taurtis gets a girlfriend, Sam gets a girl who's obsessed with him ? ? but she has a boyfriend, so he beats up Sam and gets Sam arrested

-Sam and Taurtis go on a "double date". Paul Blart is a canonical character, no i will not explain. They talk to a fortune teller named Ellen, and they tell Taurtis' girlfriend, Salex, that she will die in the coming days. The next day, she is hit by a car and killed.

-Someone's texting Taurtis on Salex's phone, which is a plotthread never resolved really

-Sam and Taurtis sell crack cocaine and watch the yakuza get killed by the FBI, who also just so happen to be their two (living) teachers, and their kid who's like, canonically 12

-Taurtis starts his own buisness, Toritos. he robbed all the local stores of their Doritos and put a "T" on the packaging, but made his own chips that are almost inedible.

-Despite Toritos making people go blind and deaf, some people still eat them. Taurtis goes unaffected, as he eats the packaging, not the chips .

-Grian comes to town for a beach day, Sam thinks it would be funny for Grian to ask one of the girls (or Ellen) to homecoming or. whatever prom thing they were having. Grian leaves but promises to come back for halloween

-Taurtis goes to prom with Chan Yandere, who yes, is an actual character, and Sam goes with Yuki.

-Grian comes back. he's there for halloween. Chan, Taurtis, Sam and Yuki convince Grian to be a date for Ellen. Dom, the guy who attacked Sam, wants to see who can stay in the school overnight the longest. the ghost of their dead teacher haunts them and tries to kill them. or at least scare the shit out of them.

-Yuki and Sam are convinced that Taurtis "said fighting words" so they stab him. Grian tries to drive Taurtis to the hospital and they get into a bus crash?

-Grian returns back to the apartment Sam and Taurtis lived in. Grian is forced to pretend to be Taurtis. He is threatened with his life, and has a knife pulled on him if he denies being Taurtis. Sam is in complete denial of his actions.

-Taurtis returns after being rejected from the hospital, for being broke. also he has amnesia. and Sam denies it's him and tries to pretend he's a different person for a while

-Grian, Taurtis, Sam get into a gang fight and kill the Yakuza leader, who's actually Yuki's dad. Sam then forces Grian to pretend to be Yuki's dad .

-Yuki realizes, goes nuts, kills half the people in the town, Dom helps, and then Yuki kills themself. Grian, Taurtis, Sam and Dom are put into witness protection.

YHS Taurtis [EP 54] Thoughts

I started watching YHS because I wanted to know what happened, and honestly my curiosity got the best of me but I did still know how dark it went.

Annnnnd then it turns out that, oh. There's more than just the warnings. I mean really, no matter how in-depth you get about how bad it gets, some things will still get someone off guard.

I just.. Guys original Taurtis.. It's awful. I didn't think this was how it would go. I mean I knew Grian would be pretending to be Taurtis because of Sam (how loud Sam gets when he yells when Grian says he isn't Taurtis is painful, kudos to any headphone users who didn't feel the pain)

but.. them meeting Original Taurtis and the poor guy not remembering anything besides the crash and doctors.. AND THEN SAM ACTING LIKE HE DOESN'T KNOW WHO THAT IS AND STILL ACTING LIKE GRIANS TAURTIS WHEN THAT PERSON IN FRONT OF HIM IS TAURTIS

i cant. its awful. I think I would've preferred Taurtis dead then alive but with basically no memory. Sam's just manipulative as fuck and I hate this so much. Everything else? its 'okay'. I can handle it, I even have a dark sense of humor so some of this is funny.

Sam making Grian pretend to be Taurtis? Uncomfortable, but nothing I can't handle.

THIS? I'm afraid that this is my too much point.

I feel for Grian in this, I can't. It must be so awful seeing someone who he knows so well is Taurtis but can't say anything because he knows Sam will do something about it, and it won't be anything good.

When you know that the reason Taurtis doesn't even remember anything in the first place was because of Sam, and normally I wouldn't play the blame game, but doing THAT is so much worse.

Sam. The character was a little bit bearable before. A little bit annoying and stuff, but fine. And then this happens and it breaks my heart.

I want to cry.

I hate the fact that Sam's been basically using Taurtis' state instead of actually letting him know the truth, and just manipulating him into believing what he says because there's nothing else that tells him 'hey, that isn't true', and Grian can't say anything unless they're alone [or with people who can actually TELL who is who like Chan]

And Sam gets so fucking loud there's no wonder it was traumatizing. Fuck. I usually like watching Antagonist POV but on this one, not so much. I think it'd be more bearable from Grian's POV haha, my heart would shatter if it was Taurtis' because I just can't. He's just so oblivious rn.

I'm getting emotional. Why did no one talk about this part? Is it just me who gets hurt at this part?

•Freckles!! god he has so many freckles. Whether they are drawn on or natural, however, is a mystery

•Fucking BEANPOLE. Where is his MEAT. Its almost concerning on how skinny he is.

•Despite being super skinny, he is very strong. Its really fucking weird

•Sam is also very touchy with Taurtis. Its mostly because of his issues with control, but Taurtis loves attention so he's never questioned it. Lots of hand/arm holding, leaning his body mass onto Taurtis, randomly hoping onto his back, etc.

•Sam, despite his touchyness, rarely gave Yuki attention when they dated. This is mostly because of his rabbit instincts seeing a Strong Female as a Threat™

•He is also touchy with Grian, but less obvious because he knows the other finds it uncomfortable.

•He also likes how blood tastes. The metallic is,, soothing oddly enough

Taurtis

•6'4" genderfluid queer! Into both, just doesn't have a label for his sexuality

•Chubby,and strong! He'd never use is strength against anyone(not even Sam), so he's a bit fucked

•Has a lot of scars! His hands have a lot from having to get knives away from Chan and Sam, as well as the knife scar at his stomach.

•He, similar to Sam, likes to give physical affection, just for different reasons. Taurtis just loves how it makes him feel!:D He covers Chan and Sam in affection, although is a lot gentler with stuff for Ellen and Grian, mostly cause he knows they aren't too keen on that stuff.

•5'7" pan transman! Doesn't bind for safety reasons

•Short and chubby! He's pretty insecure of it, which is why he wears a big ass sweater

•Really fucking intimidating actually. He is very aware of what he can and cannot do, and will use that to get information/scare the shit out of someone
