No one can claim that I'm fast, but hey! I finally had a moment to sit down and find some fics for a lovely anon who wandered into my inbox looking for classical musician!larry. A few of these are a little bit of a stretch, but hopefully there's something here you enjoy! You'll see little blue hearts along with a lil comment from me on those I have read (admittedly not that many, oops) This is definitely an AU I'd love to see more fic for! harry is a third-year witch and violinist at Laitswold, the only magical academy in the UK, with dreams of taking on the world, and hopefully breaking the centuries-old curse on his family while he's at it. he does not dream of facing off against his childhood rival and duet partner, but louis is back in town after six years abroad, so that's exactly what happens.

In a strange coincidence, Louis meets town troubadour Harry, who seems wonderful to him just right until he reveals that Louis’ father was like a dad to him.

Even though Louis tries to convince himself that it shouldn’t - it hurts.

Just as he starts to think they might get away with this empty seat -- yes, they. He and Instrument Man are in this together, a united front against the forces of any more people-- one more person steps onto the plane. He bypasses the first fifteen rows without so much as a falter, but the fact that he slows around 17 gives Louis pause. There aren’t many empty seats in this section... Surely not. Surely the universe wouldn’t be so cruel as to do this to him.

And then there’s another body landing in the seat next to Instrument Man. Well, “landing” might be too polite. Crashing, is more like it. Within the first ten seconds, he’s elbowed instrument Man in the side, dropped something on the floor, and nearly tripped a stewardess with the exuberant flailing of his legs. All in all, completely shattering the tentative silence in row 21 DEF. Fuck.//

Harry and Louis meet on a plane. Louis is not impressed, until he is.

They talk about the future, about the cute girl who was checking Harry out at Tesco's, about the cute boy who asked for Louis' number the other day. They mostly end up talking about their auditions for the school of their dreams, though.

Louis plays piano and Harry plays guitar and they're both trying to get into Juilliard but feelings sort of happen.

i’m sure most ppl expected this so i’m not gonna make a big deal out of it but!! yes i am going on hiatus for an unspecified amount of time.

it’s honestly quite simple, i’ve just been losing interest in most aspects of kpop aside from the music, which makes writing for it a lot harder than before. i also dealt with a lot of burn out for months and still forced myself to write which only made it worse. lastly, i’m an executive of two clubs at my school this year on top of all my classes, so finding time to write would be even worse than it was before :’) !

YEAh that’s kinda it! for now my works will stay up, moots can dm me for my disc/spotify!! even if we’ve barely spoken pspsps i wanna stalk ur music cmere 🤲 a special shout out to my emoji anons too, you’re all amazing people ilysm, especially those that have been stuck with me for so long <3 (u know who u are!!)

😂 A fic that made you laugh out loud The Impossible Now by @aliensingucci The reason I took so long to answer this ask was because I started looking and immediately fell into rereading this hilarious story about Louis and his reluctant Alice-In-Wonderland adventure to an alternate universe as a second chance to 'Get the Guy' aka Harry, the one that got away (or the one he pushed away, more like) Only in this other universe, Harry isn't the cute art student Louis knows, he's a world-famous (oh, and self-identifyingly straight) popstar. Louis? He's still a botanist. I have no idea what magic deities the author had to pray to in order to weave words like this, but somehow this plot just works. It might sound like it walks the line of crack, but the honest thread of Louis's angst as we flit between his self-realisations over past mistakes and the pressure for him get it right this time kept me tethered to the ground. Nephilim Niall and Louis's grudgingly growing fondness for him is definitely a key highlight in this story that left me wishing Louis could have just kept both Harry's in the end.

😊 A fic that made you smile on a bad day Consider This by @horansheroes What an absolute work of art! This thing is ready to be printed and bound as a novel in its own right. Funny, sexy, and yet overwhelmingly wholesome, this story about stripper Niall and single parent Harry will tug on your heart strings. If that's not enough, the real star of the story is Hugo, Harry's son and the most well written child character I've ever seen. I love the contrast of Niall's easy confidence and stability with his life paired with Harry's journey to finding balance between caring for his child without compromising his own happiness. Watching Niall form his own bond with Hugo was insanely rewarding bonus I wasn't expecting, but man, it sure did melt my heart.

👌🏼 A fic someone else recommended to you This Charade (was never going to last) by @scrunchyharry Recommended to me by @mercurial-madhouse who beta'd this story and told me of it's awesome-ness. This story about Harry "accidentally" becoming a spy and his detested coworker Louis being forced into the small town domestic life of a fake-marriage. To say it short, this is a fic that I will remember for the rest of my life! There are so many relatable moments that keep this seemingly outrageous plot very tied down into reality. I adore how the characters make mistakes that sometimes hurt those they care for, and how they don't have foresight to see all the consequences of their actions (even the small stuff) Overall, the characters are so vividly human and it made me look at my own life with new perspective. Go see the comment I left if you want to see a 1,000 word essay on everything I love about it ♡

🖌KEEP PRACTICING BY BRANCHING OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE It was so much fun writing fics like Fractured and Christmas Idiots, because I was using different writing muscles for each one. Fractured was so short, Christmas Idiots was so fluffy.

1) Write at least one fic from a POV that isn’t Harry or Louis.

B) Write at least one fic that is a Louis/non-Harry pairing.

III) Possibly write an ABO. (This is the trope at the very bottom of my ‘I’d actually attempt to write something like this’ list. So any comments, thoughts, or suggestions concerning me writing an ABO would be most appreciated!)

this is part two of my december fic rec! this list encompasses the fics i’ve read from the 18th to the 28th!! it’s also my birthday today which makes it even more special! i can think of no better way to spend today than spreading positivity! :)

Thursday mornings have always been their favourite.

✰ and it gets colder and colder by @hadestyles | E | 2K - (another rori fic!! once again, beautiful prose! made me feel emotional!)

Harry wants to take care of Louis. Things take a turn.

The taste of Christmas cookies fresh out of the oven and peppermint hot chocolate is still heavy on his tongue. Harry’s sweater provides some warmth and it still smells of him from before he left for his internship two weeks ago, but it’s nowhere near the feeling of his arms wrapped around him. Louis shivers despite the blankets.

The action shouldn’t fill his eyes with tears but it does. These small gestures mean the world to him. A steady reminder that Harry does notice all the tiny, seemingly insignificant details that make Louis him.

They stare into each other's eyes for a while until Louis remembers this is too intimate and looks at Harry’s hands on his thigh. It spans a big portion of his thigh and Louis has always been insecure about how thick he is, so he loves that Harry has huge, dustbin hands that hold him and makes him feel smaller, safer.

Harry had never faced anything in this forest that had actually succeeded in scaring him. Louis was no exception.

Louis always gets distracted with his mummy duty and he eventually catches Harry's attention.

✰ But It’s Useless by @thinlinez | E | 26k - (this put such a big smile on my face!! so cute and lovely!! louis was a relatable and adorable menace and harry was a smitten idiot but they both got there in the end!!)

Omega Louis would never guess that he would be trying to hack into Alpha Harry's Wifi. That is until everything changes when he tries to get to know his enemy.

✰ Stuck On You by Writewhatiwant | E | 34k - (so so sweet! loved the aspect of stickers in this fic and how louis found joy in them!! really loved how both louis and harry (especially harry) grew throughout this story and how they found peace at the end!)

Louis’ life revolves around his stickers. Harry’s life revolves around his job. The universe has decided their worlds should revolve around each other.

✰ smoke between your teeth by @soldouthaz | E | 37k - (i think everyone knows how much i adore sarah and her fics but this one just might be a new favorite! loved all the psych stuff, the pining, the rom-com worthy confession <3 brilliant!)

Louis tries to stop his addiction to cigarettes and discovers he's been addicted to Harry for much, much longer.

✰ Your Life Worth Walking on a Bright Morning by @helloamhere | T | 38k - (part three of this series) (it just keeps getting better and better <3 so comforting and consistent and beautiful!)

For all its complexity, Louis sometimes reminded himself, life could always be simplified into a series of forks in the road. Even overwhelmingly big things were survivable when you broke them down to their choice. One path or the other, left or right.

✰ On The Edge by @zanniscaramouche | E | 47k - (so crazy good!! zanni is always amazing me!! loved the ice skating, the hockey, the misunderstandings, the multi-faced and beautiful characters and relationships - all so perfect!)

Figure skating is as vital to Louis’ identity as his DNA, so when his skates go missing right before the last Olympics of his career there may be a meltdown only vanilla bath salts can fix. Well, that and the stupidly charming hockey player he met on the plane.

Harry’s too old to be the wonder kid and too young to be taken seriously in the NHL. As an alternate thrown in at the last second, he fights to prove himself on the national team at the largest sporting event known to man. Or he will, once he gets off this flight and can focus on something other than the fussy figure skater and his stunningly blue eyes.

A baggage mix-up skews both of their perfectly laid plans for gold, forcing the two to work together as the clock clicks towards the minute they’re expected to shine on centre ice.

To Harry, Louis was becoming as tangible and essential as music in his life. He still was a mystery but at the same time, he was one of the most real things Harry had. He just hoped he could live up to the image Louis probably had in his mind of him.

He could play the part, after all, what was published of him wasn’t as detached from reality. He didn’t think of himself as a rockstar cliche, although he couldn't deny he did sleep around, partied a lot, and did some drugs. But then again, wasn’t that what the majority of his friends back in his hometown were doing at college?

Harry wanted to impress Louis, he didn’t want to disappoint or leave his expectations unfulfilled, so he’d give him the full rockstar experience.

It was a very simple plan, what could possibly go wrong?

When he sees the alpha, his brown hair curling around the top of his neck and his broad back that’s filled out over the past couple of years, Louis freezes for a moment. The alpha turns around, Louis’ surprised expression mirrored on his own for a fraction of a second before he schools it into a big, yet shy grin and a wave of his huge hand. With his nostrils flared, Louis knows that he can smell him, too.

They never hired alphas, except for—

“Harry.”

“Are you mad?” he explodes, throwing his hands up, groaning. “I was so, so close to reaching my goal, and your stupid, stalking ass had to creep up on me, hm?”

Harry is trying to keep his laughter in, walking closer to him, eyes soft. He doesn’t like the way those eyes make him feel, an odd, dangerous mix of nervous and flustered, so he bends down to pick up the books, raising an eyebrow when Harry growls in protest.

“I wanted to pick them up for you,” the alpha pouts, and Louis glares at him, getting into position and lowering the pile of yellowed pages over the top of his head.

“I’m a functional human being, thank you very much,” he grits out as he begins to walk and mentally count the amount of steps he takes. One, two, three, for heaven’s sake Harry fuck off!, four, five. He doesn’t let himself be distracted as the alpha walks along with him despite the slow pace, green eyes focused on him in a way that would, in any other cases, compelled him to throw a book in the alpha’s face.

He doesn’t know why he doesn’t do it and certainly doesn’t want to think about the reason, whatever it might be.

I’ve been thinking about nothing but narry since receiving an ask from @nonsensly about my favourite fics containing the two youngest directioners. Considering the very first fic I wrote in this fandom was a narry fic I knew I had to put together something to share with everyone! I’m sure I’ve left out hundreds of fics I’ve loved over the years, but here’s what I could throw together with the little amount of time I have.

💚 consider this by peerpressure // @horansheroes - 82k

Harry has not read the rule book of parenting, but he’s pretty sure it has a paragraph dedicated to not flirting with strippers. Not even if they’re very hot and also very charming. In which Harry is a single father to five year old Hugo and Niall is a stripper who makes it very hard for Harry to remember his priorities.

zannithinks: MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE FIC! Not just Narry, but in the one direction fandom as a whole. I love love love this story with the passion of a thousand suns. A sweet, heartwarming and absolutely charming story so nuanced with the mundane struggles of reality.

Niall fills all the blanks in his life, he strengthens him as a person, and most importantly, he completes him. He can’t imagine a life without him, and it all makes sense, that in one way or another, they will always find each other. Because they’re soulmates, after all.

Harry wakes up in several parallel universes and in each of them they all come back to one thing; Niall.

zannithinks: I haven’t read this one yet, but this author has several fics on my tbr and I can’t wait to sink into them. A first glance at the starting lines and this looks wonderfully written and intriguing.

💚 run away with my heart by storhan - 28k

Niall’s a con artist who was only after Harry’s money, but he left with something much more valuable: his heart.

zannithinks: I couldn’t take the suspense in this one! I was pacing the floors, sweating, literally pulling my hair out. Talk about a wild ride.

💚 the beautiful ones by orphan account - 27k

Harry pulls away sharply, chest rising and falling, eyes searching Niall’s face, almost as if he's expecting him to curse him out. “Is this okay?” He asks so quietly, voice barely above a whisper.

And no. It’s not, but it feels okay, and that's more than enough to get Niall to duck back in to continue kissing him before he can change his mind.

It's 1984 and Harry Styles wants Niall Horan to help him write his new album

zannithinks: yet to read this one, but it’s summary alludes to something right up my alley and I have a suspicion it’s gonna be a keeper.

zannithinks: oh! my heart! this is a little squeeze and tug on the heartstrings that gently soothes the soul.

"D’you wanna join us?” He whispers in Niall’s ear. Niall pulls his head back in surprise. Harry stays frozen, close, and smiles at him - a kind, small smile and Niall realises that Harry is serious. He flicks his gaze to Emily, who smiles at him, too. Niall takes her in, properly. Her cleavage, the hint of round, soft breasts underneath her top. Her hips and her thighs, hidden under her jeans. He moves his gaze to Harry’s hand on his wrist where his thumb rubs soothingly on Niall’s skin. Alright.

zannithink: talk about a 180 from the fic above this. This fic is gritty, smoking hot, and packs an emotional punch you don’t see coming until you’re already bruising. The narration in this, the characters... wow. Definitely a gem.

💚 controlling the curve by cordensangels131 - 12k

Harry Styles is baseball's hottest phenom, signed first in the draft and ready to light up the big leagues. The team, however, decides he needs a little seasonsing first and sends him down to play for their Tripple A team in Florida.

Niall Horan is a minor league catcher, a player’s player, bouncing around from team to team, trying to hang on for a few more years. Now he's charged with preparing Harry for his big league debut by teaching him control on the field.

Their dislike is mutual and instantaneous. Harry thinks he knows all he needs to know about baseball and Niall thinks Harry is a spoiled pretty boy who doesn’t respect the game or his teammates.

zannithinks: smoking hot and immersive in the world of baseball, this fic is clearly well researched with a side of spice.

💚 a little tenderness by @disgruntledkittenface - 10k

"Listen, my alpha and I broke up and it turns out that all of our friends were really his friends and I need someone to help me through–”

“No,” Harry practically shouts, the word bursting out of him unbidden. He cringes when he sees the shock on Niall’s face, his pale skin flushing lightly. “I’m sorry, but my answer has to be no. I don’t help omegas through heats. I’m really sorry, Liam knows that, so I don’t know why he would give you the idea–”

“It’s not heat, Harry,” Niall interrupts. “It’s depri.”

“Oh. Fuck."

zannithinks: this left me in a pile of goo! the softness of it all :0

💚 out of the woods by countthestars // @moondoggiestyle - 9k

"Hi,” the boy says, leaning forward and resting his elbows on the counter, body language open in invitation. Niall half expects him to tip his chin up and bare his throat, but instead his smile grows wider, pulling crookedly at his mouth.

zannithinks: I reread this often! Like WOW talk about writing talent and GOALS. Immersive doesn’t even begin to explain just how this fic wraps you up in such a detailed world. I could easily read 100k more of these characters.

💚 make a mess of me by anonymous - 3k (nourry 3some)

Harry wants to be full to the brim. First he manages by himself, but then Niall and Louis help him out.

zannithinks: we all need that one outrageously absurd and smoking hot fic we keep in our back pocket as a dirty secret. Read the tags and suspend disbelief for this one!

💚 slow hands by hellolovers13 // @hellolovers13 - 3k (nourry 3some)

"Wait. So when you say you’re genderfluid, that means sometimes you’re a girl, right?” “Uh, yeah.” “So when I asked what you’d do if you were a girl and you said ‘Niall’. Does that apply now?”

zannithinks: woo! The temperature raises several degrees with this one. An interesting dynamic and nuanced characters wrapped up in fun smut.

Thank you for sending this my way! It was fun to reflect on my writing and all the different kinds of fics I've posted and what Iove about each one of them.

The Devil's Backbone Louis is an out-of-work ranch hand in need of fast cash and Harry is a captured bandit bound for a train that will send him to death-row. When Louis takes on the job of getting Harry on that train, he's got no idea how much his patience and everything he thinks he knows about the world is going to be tested. 💙 - My most recent fic! I had so much fun writing these scrappy emotionally-stunted cowboys and their gorgeous horses. I really miss horseback riding and this was super indulgent, plus an era and genre I've never tried before!

If My Heart Were Mine Four immortal boys on a cross-country quest to save the world, but first they have to figure out how to save themselves. 💙 - A fic I spent yeeeaarrs writing for a dear friend of mine.

The Ground Below is Above My Feet “You were sleeping like the dead,” Harry muses, calloused fingers delicately brushing through Louis’ fringe. “Could barely tell if you were breathing.”

Louis' heart stutters, his throat working hard to swallow the lump of ugly truth. Blinks until Harry’s bright eyes come into focus across the pillow.

He holds back the obvious joke. 💙 - My first longfic! It was a huge learning curve and I had a lot of fun immersing myself in such a big plot.

Stars Would Melt (series) Niall Horan is a consultant on cases that need a personal touch, someone to get close to prey and predators alike to discover the truth, and he's eager for the chance to work with old acquaintance Zayn Malik at Station Twelve. His attitude shifts when he discovers what waits for him is more than just three boys caught in the midst of a cult. A tight deadline presses on him to complete his report, yet the more he learns about the unique dynamic between these three, the more he starts to question his own sanity. Professionalism is hard to hold onto as the case and Niall's mind begin to unravel. 💙 - This fic is so close to my heart. There are a few things here and there I would change if I went back, but overall I loooved writing something super different by fusing the 1D world with the sort of media I've enjoyed like CSI and Criminal Minds, etc

Atlas, Reborn There's mud in your mouth. 💙 - My very first fic in the fandom and I still adore it so much! What a moment!
