——————————⧗ᗢ——————————
You had been babysitting the Maximoff twins since you were in high school, but now being in college you were hardly ever able to. That was until Wanda found out you were home for a few days and sent you a text asking if you didn't mind to watch the boys for the evening while her and her husband went out for dinner.
You never liked Jarvis, he would always give you weird looks when Wanda was around you. You had noticed a change in Wanda's demeanor towards you when you came home again a couple months ago. You just brushed it off as him being weird, but you were completely wrong.
Little did you know Wanda had not been able to get you out of her mind, she would catch herself thinking about you at all points of the day. She thought it was just because she missed you, but when she found herself with her fingers buried in her pussy, holding her phone displaying a picture of yourself you had posted on Instagram. It felt so wrong, but oh so right.
You hesitantly rung the doorbell, waiting for someone to answer the door. You never understood your shyness around Wanda, you thought it was some silly little teenage girl crush. It most definitely wasn't as it strengthened in you adulthood.
"Hi sweetheart!" Wanda greeted happily, pulling you into a hug. The smell of her perfume crowded your senses, making you feel weak. "Ugh, I've missed you so much!" She placing a little kiss on your forehead, a tint of pink gracing you cheeks. "I've missed you too, Wanda."
She brought you to the living room, and made some little small talk with you while she waited for Jarvis. She asked you all about your second year in college, the trips you had taken, your friends, and lots more. Wanda just loved hearing you talk about things you do, and things you loved.
You were interrupted by Jarvis' trudge down the stairs. "Darling, are you ready?" He said smugly, giving you a look. "Yes, let me call the boys down. Y/n there's chicken nuggets in the freezer, you can fix them for them. Kitchen is yours so you fix whatever you want, house too. Once the boys are asleep feel free to do whatever, just don't destroy the house." She send you a little wink, and you nodded your head.
"Boys!" She called out to her twin boys, and they came running out of their room. "Tommy, Billy. Mommy and daddy are going out tonight, be on your best behavior for Y/n." The two boys nodded eagerly, excited for their evening with you. Wanda said her goodbyes to you as Jarvis stood annoyed and impatient. Once they had left you turned to the boys, "Who's ready for some fun!?"
Wanda and Jarvis had been gone for an hour now, Tommy and Billy were eating their dinner while you prepared yours. They excited to finish, because you promised if they did you'd all play on their shared playstation for a few hours.
After you all had finished, you played until it was time for them to go to bed. Their protest made you giggle as you drug them up to bed. "Sorry boys, but your mom would kill me if you weren't in bed on time." They both groaned, but still complied nonetheless.
You walked back down to the living room, curling up on the couch taking your laptop out of your bag, hoping to get some work done for your classes. You didn't know you'd wind up clutching onto a blanket coated in Wanda's sent, your nimble fingers rubbing your clit. The tips of your fingers prod at your aching hole, as you imagined Wanda's fingers buried deep inside you.
The sudden sound of the door opening, sent you into a panic. You pulled your hand out, trying to readjust the blanket as best as possible. You get on your phone and scroll through TikTok trying to seem as normal as possible. "Hey sweetheart we're back." Wanda said as Jarvis walked off. "Hi Wanda, give me just a second and I'll be out of your hair.”
"Oh Y/n why don't you spend the night, it's too late for a girl your age to be out this late." She insisted. "Wanda I'm not a little girl anymore." You chuckled, walking into the hallway by the door where Wanda stood. "Oh but you are, you're my little girl." Wanda said, your face heating up.
"W-wanda I-" She cut you off by placing a her finger on your lips. "Shh, let mommy do the thinking. Stay the night, and once Jarvis goes to bed I'll come back to you." She husk in your ear, her hand snaking around your front. "But Wanda, h-he's your husband.. you’re married." She laughed, "You don't think I'm aware? He's not been much of onefor years, and I can't get my mind off you. I need you sweet girl, please let mommy have you."
You hesitate, but nod your head. Her hand slips underneath your shirt, groping at your tits. "We have time for a little fun real quick." She whispered into your ear, the sultry tone in her voice makes you shiver. Her hand runs down your body and slips into your pants, rubbing your slit through your panties. She gasp as she feels how wet you are, "You're so wet detka, what were you doing? Tell mommy."
"I-I was on your couch, t-touching myself." You whimpered out, any dignity you had was now gone. Her fingers slip into your panties, rubbing your swollen clit. She sucks lightly on your neck, leaving little marks on your delicate skin.
Her slender fingers plunge into your aching cunt, thrusting steadily in and out of you. You try your best to choke back your moans, but you accidentally let a loud moan slip past your lips. Wanda quickly brought her hand to your mouth, covering it. "Shh be a good girl for mommy, we don't want my husband to catch us now do we?" You shake your head, indicating a desperate no.
Your legs begin to buckle, as your orgasm crashes through. Muffled moans escape your throat, as Wanda fucks you through your orgasm. The hand on your mouth retracts as she helps your regain composure. You watch her as she sucks your slick off her fingers, moaning around the digits as she savors your taste.
"I can't wait to taste you for real baby." Wanda says excitedly, as she pulls you into a kiss. "Alright, let's get you to bed. I'll be back down in about an hour.” She says as she leads you to the spare room.
You tried your best to get a little sleep, and right before Wanda came in you managed to doze off. She smiled at your sleeping state, pulling the sheets of your body. She softly moves your body so she can remove your shorts and panties. A groan escapes her lips at you still dripping cunt.
She places her head between your legs, dropping soft kisses on you thighs. Her tongue licking soft licks on your swollen clit, running down to your hole prodding at it. It wasn't until Wanda harshly sucked on your clit, that you began to stir awake. Little whimpers and moans escaped your sleepy self, thighs softly clamping around Wanda's head.
"You taste so good detka," she whispered into your pussy, the vibration of her voice making you whimper even more. She loved how vocal you were, how sensitive and reactive you were. She hasn't had sex like this ever, Jarvis could never truly give her pleasure.
She slipped her digits into your cunt. "Oh fuck mommy!" You moaned at the sudden fullness. You loved feeling so desperate and weak for Wanda, and she loved it too. "Fuck! 'M gonna cum mommy!" Groans and cries left you as she fucked you hard through the ecstatic orgasm.
She straddled her bare pussy on yours, rutting it against yours. "Mm no mommy, 'm too tired. Please st-stop." You begged her, but the thrust of her hips quickened. "No detka, mommy wants to cum. Help make mommy cum."
Her slick mixed with yours, her pussy rubbing on your own sensitive one made you feel crazy. "Fuck sweetheart, mommy's gonna cum! Cum with mommy." With her demand, cum gushed from you leaking onto her pussy, mixing with her own cum.
"Good girl, mommy's so proud of you." She said, placing a soft kiss on your lips. "You think you can give mommy one more? I wanna ride your face." You nodded sloppily.
She slipped off your body, straddling your face. Her slick cunt making contact with your lips. Your tongue slipped past your lips, licking a bold stripe on her pussy. "Fuck, just like that detka."
You swap from weakly licking and sucking on her core, you tried your best but you were so week from your previous orgasms you couldn't keep a steady pace. Wanda pitied you and ordered you to stick your tongue out, grinding her cunt on it. Getting just enough friction to cum. Her cum dripped down your throat, you had never tasted someone as good as her.
"You did so good for me baby, such a good good girl!" Wanda praised. "Thank you mommy." You weakly squeaked.
Wanda laid down next to you, pulling your smaller body into her. Kiss your lips softly, then your forehead. Wanda knew she had to do something about Jarvis, she just had to make you hers so bad! She'd do whatever she had to, just to keep you for herself.

The book club had been Agatha's idea.
A harmless little pastime is how she would describe it during the weekly community meeting. Some short and simple speech about how modern housewives needed distractions while their husbands were at work and the kids were at school, anything that would please the ears of the preacher and the town council enough for the men to ignore the remnants of card games or bottles of alcohol that appeared whenever Agatha organized any “ladies' meetings” - as she liked to describe it.
Wanda and almost all the other women were happy to participate - and that is, almost all of them since Dorothy had not joined anything Agatha was involved in for two years now, ever since the blonde refused to visit the nightclub that was inaugurated downtown, commenting that it was not a suitable place for family ladies, and in Wanda's opinion, missing out on one of the most fun evenings she had ever had.
This time, Agatha's new invention was weekly meetings of a book club, which for the older woman, was the perfect excuse to get away from her husband Ralph and his strong odor of cheap beer and their grumpy son who apparently didn't know how to take glasses to the sink. Two hours a week to stay off chores and focus on her friends, and as a bonus, to read and discuss the literature she would have had access to if higher education was something women were encouraged to earn.
Wanda was one of the few in the quiet Westview who had a degree - It had been a shared dream of her and her mother Natalya, who wished to see both her children off to college and it was a fortunate thing that it happened before her sad passing. The most unfair thing about that was that despite her mother's wishes for Wanda’s independence, once Natalya was gone, all that Erik did was encourage her to leave college and look for a husband, the last of which Wanda eventually gave in to in her senior year. Jarvis Vision Stark was a couple of years older than her and was completing his degree in Engineering, and to almost everyone in her class, that had to be true love. He was a good-looking young man, with a good family and education, and he seemed so in love with her. With that in mind, Wanda tried to love Vision with the same intensity that he said he did, but with the passing of the years, and the arrival of the children, the fantasy dissolved into a boring routine and conformism.
Despite those issues, her twins, Billy and Tommy, were her most precious treasure. And they were also the only thing keeping her marriage on track, Wanda dared to think.
Getting a divorce, in the traditional Christian-Jewish community of Westview, would be a scandal under any circumstances. Sometimes, when she ventured to imagine being someone with this kind of courage, Wanda could only imagine the look of disappointment on her father's face when he heard the news, and the thought was soon shoved away like dirty clothes in the washing machine.
At least Wanda had Agatha. Her long-time, trusting friend, with whom she could share torments like this, and complain about slack-jawed, obstinate husbands.
And there was also now the book club.
Westview only had one library close to home, and well, Agatha had been clear in her instructions. No cheap or religious literature, she warned with a cigarette between her lips, gesturing with one hand when one of the girls asked about what the first meeting would be like.
"Bring something interesting." Agatha suddenly gave a little smile, the same kind when she managed to bring a bottle of liquor hidden away for the Saturday church service. "Scandalous, if you dare."
They all sighed in surprise, complicit for the whole thing. Some began to whisper among themselves, but Wanda knew what she would have to do. There was nothing of the sort in Westview, so she would have to leave the residential neighborhood.
She woke up on Tuesday, dropped the kids off at school, and made breakfast. for Vision, who didn't even bother to say thank you, not happy to hear that Wanda was going out, but courteous enough to offer her a ride, which she declined almost immediately. She had the distinct impression that it was a way of being monitored, and she couldn't bear to deal with it when she was already so nervous.
Taking the bus downtown, she went straight to the new commercial village of Westview. She caught a glimpse of some neighbors, who worked in the local shops but didn't say hello to any of them.
She walked until she found a bookstore, a small, old building with carts full of books at the door and advertisements that, although scattered and colorful, were easy to understand. It was a very cozy place, which made Wanda smile for a quick fantasy about having tried to work with books after her graduation if she hadn't been pregnant at the time.
A bell rang when she entered, but no one greeted her for the first few minutes she was inside. It gave her just enough time to go to one of the nearest bookshelves and run her fingers through the rows of books, a smile playing on her lips.
"Didn't you hear the door, Pchelka (little bee)?" A voice caught her attention, and Wanda turned, trying to see between the shelves. At a glance, short, red hair attracted her eye, and she blinked to find the face of a very pretty woman offering her a gentle smile. "One minute, sweetheart. We'll be right with you."
Wanda opened her mouth to say she wasn't in a hurry, sympathetic to the number of books the redhead was carrying, but in the next second, the woman disappeared between the columns and she didn’t have a chance to say anything at all.
The bookstore remained empty and silent for another half minute, but once Wanda made mention of turning her attention back to the books behind her, a ladder opened from the ceiling, and out of it jumped a figure in an apron, and out of instinct, Wanda hopped away.
"So sorry for the scare, Miss." You apologized with a soft chuckle at the scene, closing the attic in a single motion and running your hands through your hair and shoulders in an effort to blow off some of the dust. "We are reviewing the inventory. How can I be of assistance?"
Her breath caught in her throat at the image of your gentle and playful smile. She felt so foolish.  In all her 32 years, when was the last time she had been tongue-tied, if ever?
You raised one of your eyebrows, and repeated the question, bringing a new color to her cheeks. Wanda broke into a clumsy giggle at the same second.
"Sorry, you caught me by surprise." She managed to cover it up, adjusting a lock of her hair and then moving her hands to smooth her clothes, suddenly unsure what to do with herself. "I’m…looking for a book."
You cracked another smile, finding the scene quite amusing. This older, breathtaking woman, all shy and adorable around you. "Well, we have lots of those." You teased, and Wanda felt her stomach do a complete turn at the sound of your raspy giggle. Maybe she was getting sick. Yeah, that would explain her body’s out-of-control reactions.   "What are you looking for, or perhaps a name...?"
"Wanda." She interrupts, and you frown in confusion. Taking a deep breath, she holds out her hand. "I am Wanda Maximoff."
Despite the strangeness of the moment and the fact that she didn't understand that you wanted the name of the book and not hers, you smiled warmly and repeated the gesture. Wanda has never hated work gloves as she does now, a curiosity burning to know what your skin would feel like on hers, the thought bringing such a strong color to her ears that she needs to look away immediately, barely catching the name that you mention next.
She clears her throat, and adds: "I'm actually joining a book club and the only guidance we had was to bring something interesting." And she risks looking you in the eye to add. "Scandalous."
You find it funny, even adorable if you could put it that way. Maybe it's because of the color of her face when she says it. Or maybe it's because these college students - Wanda judges you to be one for your apparent age - are more modern than she would have been and don't bother with this sort of subject.
"Hm, I think I can help with that." You retort with a thoughtful expression, beckoning for Wanda to follow you deeper into the store and she does so only after taking a deep breath.
The columns of poetry make her bite her lip in curiosity, some of the names Wanda recognizes from her own years as a student, but it is only when you are in the last aisle with the little gold plaque labeled "Sapphic Literature" that Wanda thinks she has stopped breathing.
You do everything very calmly. Climbing up one of the stairs, and taking some time to read the titles, you take a small book from one of the higher shelves and walk back to Wanda, whose face is almost Natasha's hair color now.
With a smile, you hold out the book, but don't let go, holding the item as she does.
"There's nothing more scandalous than this for a small town like Westview." You say. "But if it's too much, Miss Maximoff, I can always suggest something different. You know, like stuff about the first war or Russian philosophy..."
"N-no, this is fine." She interrupts you, grabbing the book strongly and pulling it close to her chest. You don't know if she's trying to hide it or keep it from fleeing, but it makes you chuckle. "Thanks for the help."
"No problem." You reply, studying that face for a moment. Wanda swallows dry but holds your gaze. You clear your throat as soon as you realize you're staring. "Is there anything else I can do for you?"
She almost sighs, her knees going weak at just the line her thoughts take. Shaking her head, she offers you a small smile. "No, that will be all." She says and practically runs off to the edge of the store, back to the cashier.
The redheaded woman is taking care of the payment now, and Wanda doesn't notice the look you exchange with her because she's too busy sensing your presence coming behind her.
"Excuse me, Miss Maximoff, let me wrap this up for you." Your whisper near her ear makes her shudder from head to toe, and it is fortunate that you grab the book from her as Wanda is sure she would have dropped it on the floor.
You walking away is the only reason Wanda's legs stop shaking.
"Good choice, ma'am." Commented the attendant as soon as you put the book on the counter to be scanned. Wanda noticed the small badge spelled out in silver letters "Natasha" stuck to her apron. "We are also fond of sapphic literature around here." She added with a complicit smile.  Wanda didn't understand why it seemed like a code for something, she was too distracted by the movements of your hands storing the book in a pretty bag. She remembers forcing a smile, paying with trembling fingers and practically running out of the bookstore, feeling your gaze burning into her back.
The bell made another noise on the way out, and with the bookstore empty, Natasha's laughter filled the air.
"How do you always find our people?" Questioned the other impressed, but you laughed short, shrugging.
"I won't deny that I have this ability, but in this case, how can you say? You saw her for like, three seconds."
Natasha shook her head, checking the cashier. "Oh, please, she was eye-fucking you this whole three seconds.” Declared the redhead, ignoring your protest at her choice of words. "Besides, it's kind of obvious by her not freaking out over sapphic poetry, isn't it?"
You sigh, somewhat disbelieving. "I don't know, people are more friendly nowadays." You try, but Natasha gestures away as if she doesn't agree.
"Your problem is that you're too naive, Parker." Retorted the redhead with an amused expression. "Women like me, experienced not old, are not so friendly. We come from different times, different generations. You couldn't go around reading gay literature anywhere, hardly found any to be fair. If she wasn't like us, she would have caused a scene at the mere suggestion."
"Alright, Romanoff, I believe you." You grumbled begrudgingly while grabbing one of the last boxes to be checked off the desk. "But that doesn't mean she was interested in me." You stated, but Nat snorted incredulously.
"I bet you five bucks she'll be back next week!" Retorted the redhead, but you only chuckled, letting her increase the bet as the distance grew.
-&-
A tense silence grew with every second in the crowded room.
Wanda sat there, almost not breathing until she finally realized what she had just done. Read. The room began to spin next. She gripped the pages hard enough to wreck the book in her lap, but just as panic was about to overwhelm her, someone sighed loudly.
"Well, that was definitely scandalous." It was Monica, and the good humor of the comment made the room explode into little giggles.
The girls began commenting among themselves excitedly in the same second, some still somewhat hesitant and embarrassed, but definitely thrilled about the whole thing. Wanda felt a gentle hand on the back of her back, through the exposed part of the plastic chair.
"Just breathe, Wanda, everything's fine." It was Agatha, who was still sitting next to her. Who didn't hate her for reading a passage from Emily Dickinson in the middle of the book club, who was still her best friend. Wanda only managed to mumble a weak, whiny yes, and Agatha looked at her with concern before announcing to the entire room that they would take a break before the next reading. Wanda doesn't remember getting up, but she didn't breathe normally again until on the outside balcony of the Harkness Residence. "Here, honey."
The glass of water helped, and Wanda had just returned it to Agatha when the window door opened again. It was Monica, with an almost proud smile, who spoke only after sliding the glass door closed again.
"I have to say, Wanda, you have guts." Her friend joked, and Wanda grimaced.
"What...?"
"I didn't know there were more of us in Westview, Aggie. You could have told me." Monica complained to the older woman, giving Agatha's arm a gentle pat. But the woman just smiled awkwardly, looking at Wanda as if she were seeing her for the first time.
"She never mentioned it, I'm afraid." Agatha commented, and Wanda felt like she might throw up at any moment. "Hey, breathe honey. It's okay, all right? You're safe with us."
But Wanda put a hand over her chest, feeling it tighten. "My god, what I just did... They will tell my husband... my father will hear about it-"
"Hey, Wanda, here. Focus on me, darling, breathe." Agatha grabbed her hands, trying to help her control the panic and tears that began to roll down her face. "Honey, it was just a poem. Nothing is going to happen, okay, you just brought what I asked for, and none of them minded. Nothing has changed, now breathe. You're safe, Wanda."
“Of course, I would ruin the book club.” was the first thought she had hours later when she woke up before the time to pick the boys up from soccer. She didn't have to do it though - Agatha left a little note saying that she had taken care of everything and wished her rest.
Monica drove her home so that Agatha could close the meeting without raising any more suspicions about Maximoff's state, who had had a panic attack because of a poem read aloud. If the other neighbors knew, it would create chatter, and Wanda simply couldn't handle that.
Monica left her safe and sound in her house, wrapped in blankets, and didn't mind staying until Wanda cried herself to sleep. And Wanda woke up alone, feeling worse than before as if a very embarrassing secret had been revealed to the world and was mocking her outside the bedroom walls.
But her children were back in no time, and as they rushed to the shower, she went to thank a very concerned Agatha Harkness.
"Are you feeling better, sweetheart?" Asked her friend gently holding her arm. Wanda didn't meet her eyes, nodding.
"Thank you for dropping the boys off." Murmured her quietly, swallowing before adding. "And for earlier. I didn't mean to bring any trouble."
Agatha gripped her with more determination. "Listen here, Wanda, it was no trouble at all, okay?" Assured the woman, who although in a serious tone, still had very gentle eyes. "You are my best friend, Wanda Maximoff. Nothing will ever change the care and love I feel for you. When you're ready to talk about today, about this part of you, I'll be here. And Monica too. You are not alone, honey. You never have been." There was a different complicity in the last sentence, but Wanda only sighed in relief, nodding and finally relaxing when Agatha hugged her.
She thanked her again between silent tears and Agatha only left when she was sure Wanda believed her words.

It took Wanda three weeks to return to the store. Not that you were counting, or thinking every day about the middle-aged woman who had a gay panic attack with your poor attempt at service. Not that Natasha didn't shut up about it.
And as luck would have it, you were alone in the store because your boss, who you also called a friend, was out picking up some orders and her sister at the University of New York, and well, it had been a slow day until the doorbell rang in the early afternoon and it was Wanda.
"You again." That was the first you managed to say, almost sighing and hating how affected it sounded. Luckily, Wanda seemed equally happy and relieved to see you again.
"Hello." She greeted, repeating last week's gesture of adjusting a lock of her hair. She looked different from before, more elegant, with a dark jeans jacket expensive enough to have come out of a magazine, and a dress underneath that made you swallow dry.
You had no idea how long she spent in front of the mirror trying to choose the right outfit with two neighbors weighing her choices.
Trying to play it cool and sound as casual as possible, you add:  "Wanda Maximoff from the book club, right? Did they like the poems?"
She hesitated in a nervous smile, looking around as if to check if there were no other customers and satisfied with the distant presence of a boy in the Vinyl's Discs area and a lady further down the hall, as she practically whispered, "You were right. It was scandalous enough for Westview." She teased, managing to get a short laugh out of you that made her stomach do flips and her cheeks turn a rosy hue. It was decided, she wanted to hear the sound again and would do anything to be the one to make you laugh.
"Well, I'm glad to hear that." You retort with a little smile. "I hope you enjoyed the book too, though." Your addiction makes Wanda's heart skip a beat. So you cared if she was the person who enjoyed the reading, it wasn't all about a professional suggestion on how to make an impact on the book club as she presumed. Well, Agatha was right.
Risking, probably everything, Wanda commented: "Oh, I definitely loved the reading. I had a good time imagining the scenarios she described." Despite the confidence in saying it, she was blushing, and the way she spoke as if a secret between the two of you and with your knowledge of how erotic Emily Dickinson's stories were, was the reason you knock over half the stack of books you were trying to organize onto the floor.
The noise attracted the attention of the other customers, but you forced a smile and gestured that everything was fine before you ducked down, quickly beginning to pick everything up while Wanda looked at you with a certain amusement, as if she had just confirmed a theory.
"Sorry. You caught me off guard." You mutter in embarrassment, and Wanda chuckles, ducking down as well. She helps you with the last of the fallen books, and in the gesture of returning them, your hands rub together and the whole world stops for a second.  Just long enough for you to look at her, and then to step away at once, clearing your throat. Wanda does the same, and before you have a chance to say anything, the record customer interrupts you.
It has to be the most annoying sale you've ever made. He stalls you for long minutes, and all you can do is watch out of the corner of your eye as Wanda slips further into the back of the bookstore, and you lose sight of her. To make matters worse, when the man finally leaves, familiar vehicle parks in the back of the store, and less than five minutes later, two figures with heavy boxes appear.
Yelena has gotten a haircut, and you have a moment of shock to deal with that. The next, she is making a terrible impression on the other customer in the store, the cookbook lady, who immediately grimaces as soon as your friend practically jumps on you. Whether it's the display of affection or Yelena's tattoos and rebellious posture, the woman leaves the store muttering lowly.
You pay no attention to this, grinning as you match Yelena's hug before she lets go of you.
"сука, next time you lock up the semester, at least stop at the dorm to smoke with us!" Complained your friend as she leaned on the counter where she had left her magazine supply box. Natasha dropped hers with a tired grunt, and once the books were secured, she gave a warning slap on the feet that Yelena threatened to put on a shelf.
"There won't be a next time." Natasha answers for you. "She's giving up for good."
Yelena lets out an exclamation, but you grimace. "That hasn't been decided, Romanoff." You defend yourself. "I just needed more time. I think I'll just switch vocations. Again."
Natasha giggled, but Yelena patted you on the shoulder. "Hey, don't look so down. I also think about quitting Fashion every week, and every week I remind myself that no one is as talented as Yelena Belova and the world must not be deprived of my masterpieces." The comment makes you and Natasha laugh and roll your eyes.
The redhead pushes her sister by the shoulders away from the counter. "You said you came here to work, not get in Parker's way. Find something to do-"
"Oh, sure, I'll get us some coffee." Yelena interrupts, letting go of her sister's hands. She points a finger at you. "Cappucino or-"
"Sorry." Wanda's interruption makes the three of you look at her at once. She is intimidated, but only for a split second. Forcing a smile, she raises the book she holds at face height. "I was hoping to take this one."
You take an awkward step forward, and it is enough for Yelena to acquire an expression as if she just has won the lottery. Busy taking care of Wanda's purchase, you don't even notice the sisters' exchange of glances.
As you wrap up the book, you try to disguise the trembling in your hands.
"I couldn't really thank you for the recommendation." Wanda speaks suddenly. You smile awkwardly, holding out the bag with the book on the counter.
"It was no trouble at all, Wanda." But she extends her hand over yours, and your heart stops.
"I really appreciated it, sweetheart." That's what Wanda says, stroking your skin with her thumb. "We have meetings every week, and maybe, you could join us in the next…"
You opened your mouth like a fish, babbling like a fool and completely in shock at the invitation of the most beautiful woman you have ever seen in your life. “I-I…”
"Would love to, of course." Yelena elbowed you so hard that you pulled your hand away from Wanda’s to massage the spot. She offered her worst-intention smile to Wanda, the kind she only used at college parties when she wanted guys who would never have a chance with her to buy her drinks. "She's a first-rate nerd, she'll love it, ma'am. I’m Yelena, by the way. My sister, Natasha, is the owner here. And since we’re talking about hanging out, did you know that we do friends' reunions around here? You're more than welcome to join us."
Wanda adjusts awkwardly, a little surprised. "Oh, what kind of reunion?"
Yelena sighs thoughtfully, shrugging. "Well, I don't want to call it a college party, because even though we're all college students, it's not done on NYU grounds and is reserved for fewer people and the drinking is much better..."
Chuckling short, and adjusting the bag on her wrist, Wanda denies it with her head. "It's a kind invitation, but I think I'm too old for such things."
"What nonsense!" Yelena retorts gesturing indignantly. “ "With all due respect, such a beautiful woman will completely enhance the party. And well, my sister always attends with her friends, and you must be the same age..." You bite the inside of your cheek hard, you love your friend but she is charming and beautiful and is clearly flirting with Wanda to annoy you. Wanda blushes, and Yelena knows she's won this one. Emerald eyes search yours, and you find that the one who might have won is actually you.
"Will you be there?" She asks, and having trouble hiding a smile, you nod. With a sigh, Wanda looks at the expectant blonde beside you. "I think I could show up for a little bit-"
"That's fantastic!" Yelena gets excited, not even waiting for Wanda to confirm before she ducks down on the counter and finds one of the invitations to these parties that Natasha hides near the cashier.
You barely had a chance to say goodbye to Wanda, with Yelena and her party directions, but at least you had confirmation that the woman would be there for the last weekend of the month, the typical date when those meetings were organized. And the realization had you sliding to the floor behind the counter with one hand on your chest.
"My god I think I'm having an anxiety attack-"
"No, that's a gay outburst triggered by a hot milf." Yelena cut in with a roll of her eyes, crossing her arms as she approached you again. "You gonna have to put it together, 'cause we need to pick out what you're going to wear next week, on your hot date with her.”
You're as red as a tomato. "It's not a date! It's a book club!"
Natasha - who hadn't said anything about the interaction until now - burst out laughing, and teased "Hm, that's what young people are calling it these days."
"You two are terrible." You complained embarrassed, shaking your head in disbelief at the giggling sisters. "We don't even know if she's interested."
Natasha chuckled. "Of course she is. Sapphic poetry the first week, and now she comes back just to stroke your hand. Yes, Parker, everyone saw that. If that's not interest, I don't know what else to call it."
Sighing in defeat at the sisters' complicit gaze, you stood up again. "Let me get back to work." You grumbled, but still, Yelena followed you with thousands of ideas about what you could wear.
-&-
Book club sessions allow you to get to know Wanda better. And inevitably fall in love with her as you never had with anyone else, at least not at that intensity.
Unfortunately, a meeting full of middle-aged women with a certain willingness to gossip about any subject, especially the unusual friendship of the young college student from downtown with one of the most respectable ladies in the neighborhood put practically a watch on your back. All your moments with Wanda, stolen touches and long glances between snacks and reading verses for the next few weeks came burdened with the worry, especially for her, that the rest of the world could see all too well what was going on between you two.
And there was also the great frustration that in fact, nothing was actually happening. Aside from the undeniable attraction and warm affection you developed for each other, you were just book club buddies. You couldn't even call Wanda a friend, in fact, you wouldn't want to. All you knew about her family was Agatha or Monica telling you, the other was limited to any other subject but this one.
Pretending not to know or just accepting that Wanda had a life beyond the safety of your afternoons together hurt all the same.
Your only hope of progress for what was happening came at the end of the month, with the arrival of the reunion date between your friends. It was the most intimate event Wanda could attend and you had a feeling there would be no going back for whatever might happen that night.
The Thunderbolts was what the group of friends you and Yelena were part of called themselves since the beginning of college. And unlike Peter and Kate, or even the freshmen, America and Kamala, who were all set on what profession they would follow after graduation, you had already dropped three courses in total. Starting out in medical school as your parents would have liked, switching to applied biology with Peter until you tried computer science with America, you finally dropped out to work with books with Natasha. It was the closest thing to happiness, even if it meant lousy pay.
But ignoring this, what was certain about you and the Thunderbolts was that you guys knew how to throw a decent party.
The loud music didn't escape much from the top floor of the store because two years ago Natasha had gotten glassware with sound isolation for the rehearsals of the Red Skulls - her ex-girlfriend Carol Danvers' rock band - that kept neighbors from calling the police.
The drinking was taken care of by Natasha's friends, and well, it was always good stuff. There was also plenty of food and lots of weed, grown naturally in T'Challa's private greenhouses.
It was a college party, there was no denying it, but still, you went up to the roof, waiting for a woman twice your age who had a wedding ring mark on her finger.
Wanda almost didn't show up, and when she did, she was accompanied by a very beautiful woman.
Natasha also had a thing for older women and was half drunk, a dangerous combination. Since Wanda was your flirt, the Romanoff wasted no time in approaching the other one, who introduced herself as Agatha Harkness and was more than happy to accompany the redhead on her tour of the studio apartment that made up the second and third floors of the bookstore.
You were trying to remain calm and mannerly around Wanda, but it was almost impossible not to become a mess when she was absurdly gorgeous in her half-open social shirt, smelling fucking good from yards away.
As the night wore on and you both struggled to stay included in conversations with other people you knew - from Steve and his military school stories to Kate and her hilarious jokes - you began to wonder whether you were getting drunk on beer or on Wanda's perfume in your senses.
Fleeing back to the roof in the hopes of getting some air, you were about to consider leaving the party when Wanda found you again.
"I lost you for a second down there." She commented as she approached, hugging her body to the cold night around you. Your natural instinct would be to take off your jacket, but it suddenly seemed too intimate.
"Now you've found me." You returned with a small smile, glancing at her when she got close enough, only to find that she was already looking at you.
Swallowing dryly, you grew shy about her intense gaze and shifted to the hands she was smoothing on the ledge beside you. Wanda just stood there, close enough to touch until she leaned in a little to whisper.
"Did I do something to upset you? You're hiding from me."
Closing your eyes for a moment, you sighed before risking a look at her. "Agatha told me about your marriage." You state sincerely, and Wanda swallows dryly. "I'm not stupid, and I'm no good with games either. There's a husband, so I just won’t get involved. I'll only get hurt-"
"I'm very attracted to you." Wanda cut in, also decreasing the distance between your faces. Your heart simply stops and your breath catches. If she kissed you now, you'd probably say thank you. With a sigh, Wanda brings a hand to the collar of your shirt, pushing you away gently as a warning to herself. "She didn't lie. Agatha. I have a family, children, and a husband."
It was like a bucket of cold water on your head. But Wanda didn't let you move, keeping her grip on your shirt, and this was probably the only thing holding your tears too.
"I haven't stopped thinking about you since we met." She continues to confess as affected as you are, her green eyes desperate and hopeful. "I haven't felt this way in such a long time..."
But you choked, pulling away. "I don't want to be some game, Wanda. Some secret. And I hate to share-"
"Oh, darling we're so alike." She interrupted a short, possessive chuckle, grabbing your wrist and putting your arm around her before you could move further. The attraction was almost liquid over your limbs, pulling you towards her and you gasped, pressing your face into her collarbone before you lost control for good and take her for yourself in this roof, damn the consequences. "I thought your friend Yelena was more. My skin itched at the thought of her touching you, I almost came back here and burned the entire bookstore." She confessed in your ear as she slipped her arm around your shoulders to hug you. The intense embrace increased your heart rate, and it didn't help that Wanda was playing with the lobe of your ear between her teeth.
"Stop saying things like that or I just might..."
"What? Tell me what you’ll do with me." Wanda challenges equally affected and you lose it, digging your teeth into her collarbone and sucking hard. She whimpers, knees buckling as her hips thrust up towards yours, but all you do is force her back against the edge, your firm hands on her waist keeping her from gridding herself on you as she wants to.
"I could fuck you right here, Wanda. Send you home smelling of dirty sex." You assure her darkly, your hands playing dangerously on the limits of her blouse. All Wanda does is groan rusky in your ear, wishing you would do as you say. “I bet you’ve waiting for me to.”
The smug phrase almost takes her sanity completely: Wanda grunts needily, trying to grab your wrist and force your hand between her legs, but you pull away hard, leaving her a slack mess trying to balance on wobbly legs with the help of the wall.
"I won’t be your mistress, Wanda Maximoff." You warn hoarsely, yet determined. You adjust your messy hair. "Sorry, but this little game of ours ends tonight."
Wanda hesitates, biting her lip. You hold up your hands, to point at the ring finger, reminding her of her condition and in a way, mocking her as well. Wanda hates the way she feels herself throb between her legs because of your smirk.
She thinks she would have gone after you if Agatha hadn't appeared on the roof, reminding her with a certain irony that it was time for “respectable ladies” to go home.
In the car, her friend noticed her quiet, sulky posture.
"Did that girl say anything to spoil your evening, dear?" Harkness asked in a mixture of curiosity and concern, and all Wanda could do was let out a wry laugh, one hand adjusting her hair.
"No, Aggie." Wanda retorted sincerely. "I'm more sure than before about what I told you last week."
Agatha hummed in understanding, remaining silent for a long moment of thought. As she passed a sign toward the residential neighborhood of Westview, she spoke:
"I know a lawyer. Miss Walters. Divorce specialist." She began, ignoring the tense posture the other had acquired. “Former family friend, who always said that if I called, she would give me a special discount. Ralph owns the house, so splitting from him would have meant goodbye to Westview, and well, he never bothered me enough to lose you."
Wanda's eyes widen as she understands what her friend is saying, and she stares at her with tears in her eyes. But Agatha smiles through the mirror reflection, shrugging.
"Nicholas may be a difficult boy, but he also deserved to have a mother around." She continues. "And we have fun, you and me and the girls, don't we darling?"
Wanda agrees tearfully, nodding. Agatha chuckles, making the last turn and the landscape becomes several little houses alike.
"Just make a decision while you have time, dear." She continues a bit more hurriedly, stealing glances at the houses that still have lights on. "That beautiful woman today, Natasha, reminded me of a youth I sacrificed. I am old, Wanda. Affairs are fun, but I no longer have time to start a life with someone I really care about. You do, and you don't even have to. You have a chance to be with someone you really feel passionate about, if only for a week."
Agatha parked the car, and the porch light came on. Vision was waiting for her at the door, a half-stern expression due to the exit he didn't agree with - An unusual pastime for a family lady, they had discussed before she left.
With a sigh, she said goodbye to Agatha and got out of the car. Jennifer Walters' phone card was in her pants pocket.
It could take four to five weeks of staring at the bookstore doorbell to finally see the face you wanted to see enter that bookstore. You would be surprised enough that Wanda looked even more beautiful since the last time you saw her, and that this almost made you lose your balance on the ladder you had climbed to organize books on the top shelf.
This time Wanda would ask for a book in the law section, just for the entertainment of studying your reaction when, after demanding that you wait for her to find what she was looking for, she would press a book on divorce against your chest. Wanda would have just over five seconds for you to understand what she was getting at, before she was pressed into the shelf and grabbed by the thighs to be lifted into the air, your mouth glued to hers and her legs locked around you.
The messiest, hottest make-out session she never had as a teenager, but it would make her feel like one again. Hands determined and curious as your tongue ripped out sounds inappropriate for a bookstore, until the bell rang again, and you had to part in gasping breaths.
Wanda would grab your shirt collar before you could go to meet the customer in the lobby to ask you out on a date. On the first date, you could talk about her children, about how the joint custody was going to work out, and how much time you would have to get to know each other. On the second you could go out to eat, and on the third Wanda would feel your fingers on the back seat of the car on the drive home.
Wanda imagined all this on the way, twisting the lawyer's paper between her fingers.
"Welcome home, Wanda." Vision greeted her, giving her room to enter. Wanda forces a smile, as she removes her hand from her pocket to pass her arm around her spouse for what would probably be the last hug she would give him as his wife. “Did you have fun?”
“I did.”
-&-
It's your night shift.
Natasha has a habit of closing early on weekdays, with the exception of Fridays where she allows reading shifts for all the sleepless geeks, as she calls all the late readers who come to the bookstore after six in the evening.
The day has been quiet so far, and well, you've been too depressed for the past weeks since you decided to move on and get over Wanda Maximoff.
So of course when the bell rings and you lift your eyes from a superhero comic, it's her at the door.
A weary sigh escapes you at the almost apologetic expression of the woman fidgeting with her scarf, and without giving her some other reaction, you lower your eyes again.
"Good evening, Y/N." She greets politely, her voice hoarse.
Turning the page, as if actually reading the words crammed in front of you, you retort, " We're closing soon, so make it quick."
A smile plays on her lips at your response. "Well, I guess that'll be up to you." She retorts, and you frown in confusion, looking up only to watch Wanda turn the sign from open to closed, and lock the door.
You feel your face warm from the lust glint her eyes acquire, but you manage to raise an eyebrow.
"Don't tell me you came all this way to murder me."
She chuckles playfully, approaching at a slow pace while her hands work to remove her coat and leave it on top of one of the endless stacks of books in the reception area. "Is the place empty?"
You bite your lip as she puts on a show to remove her gloves, almost losing the train of thought. "Not really." You mumble, catching the other woman's brief disappointment and hesitation. Closing the comics in your lap to store them under the counter, you clear your throat. "There's an employee area behind this door." You let her know in a husky tone, and Wanda glances behind your shoulder for a moment before stepping around the counter.
You hold your breath at having her so close now, but she doesn't break the short distance between your faces, leaning in to touch the doorknob. You take a deep breath, and her free hand seeks yours in your lap.
She entwines your fingers together and it takes you a full moment to notice the ring missing in hers. Wanda smiles when she realizes you understand.
"I signed the papers this morning." She whispers it as a secret between you, stroking the back of your hand with her thumb and enjoying the way your skin feels warm. "I was going to write, to let you know, but I decided I wanted you to have me entirely."
You swallow dry, shuddering at the confession. "Oh, that's... nice to know." It's all you manage for the moment, surprised you can still hear her speak when your heart is so loud in your own ear drums. Wanda bites back a mischievous smile and opens the door.
"Come, you can show me how much you appreciate my fairness."
You feel your face burn and grunt in embarrassment. "You're so full of yourself." You mumble, not resisting the tug she gives to get you inside.
Barely inside when the door closes behind you, your back hits the wood and desperate hands tug your uniform jacket open. Wanda's gasping breaths mingle with yours as she kisses you roughly.
Her hands work at your belt, but you slow the frantic pace to something so intense and intimate that Wanda melts against you, a moment later green eyes staring up at you tearfully.
"I didn't lie." You begin to explain hoarsely. "There are three customers in the café. They'll notice if we... There's no rush, Wanda." You smile at her tenderly, your hands on her cheeks. "Have dinner with me tonight. You can walk me home."
Her eyes sparkle with happiness, and Wanda nods in agreement, kissing you as a promise. One she will never be ashamed to fulfill, doesn't matter if not even the law allows it.

cubfan135 fact #173:
The Convex would win the superbowl
transcript:
Cub: Uh, the next 'Ask Jarvis' question... I had a lot of people asking me about the Superbowl. Uh, so the American football, uh, Superbowl coming up this Sunday, New England Patriots vs. the Philadelphia Eagles, so I'm gonna ask Jarvis: Will the Patriots win the Superbowl?
[Jarvis produces a paper]
Cub: (Reading from paper) "The Convex would do it". Yep! You're right, the Convex absolutely would win the Superbowl, hands down, uh, with- yeah, without a doubt. Without a doubt. Convex would easily win the Superbowl against any team. So, that's really what's important here. Doesn't matter if the Patriots win or the Eagles win, what matters is the Convex definitely would win if we were playing. So I mean, two men versus uh, two- two, y'know, Convex versus an entire team of, y'know, professional athletes? Hah! We'd cheat our way to the top. Guaranteed, guaranteed.

W: Young people fall in love with the wrong people sometimes.
N: You can think that you're in love when you're really just engaged.
A/N: Reader's last name is Williams, it's easier to write this way. This has been in my drafts for months lol. I saw a Tik Tok edit of the Corpse Bride and thought of this. Still not sure about how it turned out though.
Tumblr media
- Stop being so silly Y/N, you know I will miss you just as much as you're going to miss me - Wanda said smiling, her head resting on your chest while one of your hands rubbed her back up and down.
- I know, I just wish I could stay here with you, I don't care about this stupid trip, I'd rather be here for your birthday, for that giant celebration your father is planning - you said, looking down into her eyes.
- You've been here for each and every one of my birthdays since we were 12, nothing will happen if you miss this one, even if it's "especial", I understand you have to go with your parents - she replied.
You huffed.
- I don't even know why I have to go in the first place, they have always gone by themselves, I don't know why I'm required this time - you explained - And I don't like it either, they're up to something, I can feel it.
She cupped your cheek and pecked your lips.
- You're their only daughter, their only Princess, the only heir for their kingdom, maybe they want to give you more responsibilities from now on... You're gonna be Queen someday, it's time you get prepared for it...
- I've been preparing for it my whole life - you sighed - But you're right, maybe it's time for me to take it seriously.
You stared at her and smiled.
- And maybe I can talk to them in this trip about us - you said, and her eyes sparkled with illusion at your words - I'll tell them I'm marrying you, and we'll plan the proposal for when we get back.
- Are you serious my love? Will you ask my hand in marriage? - she asked happily.
- Of course I will, I want to spend the rest of my life by your side.
She kissed you and you smiled.
- Also, I have to beat that Jarvis Prince - you said - I've heard the rumors, but if I ask you first and you accept me, there will not be any reason for us to not get married.
- Your royal highness, it's time to leave, the King asked for your presence - you heard a voice calling for you.
- On my way - you replied.
- Come back to me my love, and have fun in your trip - Wanda said, kissing you one last time.
- I'll be back in no time, and then, it'll be just us, for eternity my lady.
- For eternity Y/N... - she replied.
------------
4 months later.
The King and the Queen of Williams Kingdom are happy to announce the engagement of their heir, Princess Y/N, with the noble Princess Natasha Romanoff.
The Royal Family announced the happy news during their stay in the Romanoff Kingdom.
This makes young Romanoff the future Queen to the rightful heir to the throne of Williams House. The union of this two families represents one of the most important alliances in the last decades, the two kingdoms will surely benefit from this marriage.
It seems like love has been in the air from some time now, let's remember just a month ago the Maximoff family announced the marriage of their youngest daughter Princess Wanda and the future King Vision Jarvis, on her 18th birthday celebration.
Good luck to these new happy couples and the best of luck for all of them.
--------
- Don't act like you didn't knew about it! You fooled me! - you screamed in exasperation pacing around the room with the newsletter in your hand.
- We didn't knew Maximoff would get the girl married so early, but yes, there's no reason to lie, we knew about the wedding - your father told you.
- It was all planned, wasn't it? This trip, meeting Natasha, Wanda's birthday celebration - you mentioned harshly - You played with us like we were chess pieces, you decided our lives without asking us anything...
- There was nothing to ask, your little teenage romance with Wanda was senseless, she was promised to Jarvis even before they were born... And you, we waited for the right girl to come to your life, for the perfect Queen for you to love... And that is Natasha...
- YOU DON'T GET TO DECIDE THAT! THAT WAS MY CHOICE! - you screamed, you couldn't handle listen to him anymore.
- Well it's not! I am the King and I know what's best for you and for the kingdom! And as long as this crown is perched on my head you will obey each and every one of my orders, especially those orders that relate to the future of my legacy!
You took a step back, not believing what your father was saying.
- You're gonna marry Natasha Romanoff and get the biggest alliance in the history of our family and that's a direct order, not from your father, but from your King!
That was it. Those last words made you understand that, whatever you had left to say would be pointless. The King made a decision, and there was no turning back.
You lowered you head, and nodded.
- Yes, your Majesty.
Holding back the tears from your breaking heart you had the courage to ask for one more thing.
- Tell Natasha I'll meet her in our residence back at home, I need to travel now to talk with Wanda about this decision and finish everything in the best way possible. We're still friends, and for the sake of our friendship with the Maximoff House it would be wise to keep our alliance with them.
Your father took a few seconds to process your request but finally nodded.
- That's okay, you can go now.
Bowing down once more you left the room with tears already falling down your face.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Stopping your horse right in front of the small cabin placed in the middle of the woods your heart was pounding like crazy. When you made it inside and saw those beautiful green eyes it finally explode in love.
- Y/N! My love - she said the moment you walked in, running into your arms.
You hugged her immediately and both of you melted in a heated passion kiss after all those months separated.
- My lady... My Wanda... How you've been my love? I know life must have been hell for you just as it's been for me - you said, with your arms still around the girl.
- Oh you have no idea... They made me marry Vision the same day of my birthday, without warning. When I told my father it was you the one I loved he told me I was crazy - she started to cry - He said it was ridiculous because you were already engaged to another woman, promised to someone else. It broke my heart because I realized we had fallen in their trap my love, they made the choices for us.
- I know, I realized that too, and when I confront my father about it... - you gulped at the memory - He yelled at me like never before and command me to get marry, not as my father, but as my king.
Wanda whipped away a tear that was rolling down your cheek.
- I didn't know they were gonna announce an engagement until the day before. They gave me no choice - you said, now both of you were sitting in the edge of the bed.
- Is Natasha aware of your your displeasure? - she asked.
You shook your head.
- No, I don't think so, she was very excited when they announced the engagement... She thinks it's all genuine.
- Vision thinks as well, he thinks I want him... Even though I have refused to sleep with him...
You looked at her worried. Heartbroken. Not even you had dare to touch her in a passionate way.
- What are we going to do my love? They took everything from us, even our freedom...
She sighed.
- I don't know... I'm just sure I don't want us to end, we are soul mates Y/N, you are the love of my life... I don't care if you're married to someone else as long as I know I'm the only one for you... Because you're the only one for me...
- Wanda, in my world there's only you and then the rest of the people. I don't care about Vision or Natasha, we love each other and that is all that matters...
- But how are we going to make this work? They can get suspicious...
- We were best friends before this ridiculous circus started, and it doesn't have to change now... We just have to be careful on how we act... - you paused for a few seconds to cup her face - Although I don't think i could ever hide this love I feel for you, it's very intense...
She smiled at your words.
- Me neither, but we'll try our best... - she looked around the little comfy cabin you were in - And also, we will always have this place for us, only you and I know about it, it will keep our secret safe.
You nodded and kissed her. It became heated every second, until she was sitting on your lap and your arms were around her waist, holding her close to your body.
- Wanda... - you said in a whisper between kisses - We need to stop, or either way I will...
- Do it - she said looking straight into your eyes, her green big eyes now full of desire - Take me Y/N, make me yours, i want you to be my first...
You looked at her, the knot on your lower stomach increasing.
- Are you sure?
She didn't respond, with her lower lip trapped between her teeth she grabbed your hand and guided your palm to her breast. You squeezed it, causing her to moan.
- God... - you whispered.
With a quick flip you turned the position, now she was laid on the bed, with you on top.
- Make love to me, darling - she said.
That night, your affair got sealed with the intertwine of your bodies.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- And this is the main room, it's spacious and comfortable for the two of us - you said to Natasha, showing your future bedroom - The right room it's for me, and the left side is yours Princess Natasha, and we have the common space room right in the middle.
Natasha nodded but frowned.
- Why do we have separate beds? I thought we were sharing the same bedroom...
You smiled shaking your head.
- Oh no, we'll have the same room but I would feel more comfortable with my own space - you said walking into your side - But feel free to redecorate the whole room, change whatever you like, even my side, just leave my closet as it is right now.
She followed you confused.
- Where are you going? - she asked - We have my parents' farewell dinner tonight, tomorrow they'll go home.
- I know, I will go play tennis with Princess Wanda and then I'll meet you at the dinner - you said, walking into your closet to change your clothes.
- Princess Wanda? Again? You went out with her last week.
- Yes, you know she's my best friend, we both play tennis every week, it's our favorite sport - you said.
Natasha nodded. She didn't understand the reason behind your distance, at first she thought it was because you didn't know her before your visit at her kingdom, but now, after spending some weeks with you and failed tries on bonding with you she was very confused.
- I'll see you later - you said, walking out from your closet and giving her a kiss on the cheek.
- Okay - she answered.
She spent the rest of the evening choosing the colors, the carpets and selecting fabrics for your new room. She was loving the result, but wishing you were there to help her out.
- Do you think Princess Y/N will like this color for her bed? - she asked her maid, showing her the color tone she had choose.
- Oh it's beautiful, she will love it - the woman answered.
Natasha smiled, really hoping you will like it.
- You've known the princess since she was a kid, right? - Romanoff asked the woman again.
- Yes, I've been working for the Royal Family since 15 years ago...
Natasha kept silent for some second before asking again.
- Do you know how close is Princess Y/N with Princess Wanda Maximoff? I know they're best friends but I'm just curious about their friendship...
- Oh they are very very close, they grew up together and used to make everything side by side... They had the same private tutors, a lot of sleepovers, they both love tennis...
Natasha nodded, not wanting to listen more, but the woman kept talking.
- Princess Y/N used to write a lot of letters for Princess Wanda, every week, and Princess Wanda wrote for her too, the letters should be somewhere in here, she keeps them very well preserved... They're very special for each other - the woman smiled at the memory.
Nat cleared her throat and left the fabrics on the bed.
- It's time for me to get ready for dinner, please take all this out of the room and bring the dress.
- Yes your royal highness - the woman said, following the instructions.
Once alone, Natasha made some deep thinking. She didn't want to create false scenarios in her head, but since she met you, you had done nothing but talk about Wanda and spend time with her.
But she didn't had the time to over think because you stepped in the room in that moment. The happiness in your face could be notice from a thousand miles away.
- Natasha? I thought you would be on your way to dinner already... - you said.
- Oh I lost track of time with the decorations and everything, my dress will be here in any minute - she answered, and you nodded - Also, I think our parents will expect to see us coming in together...
You sighed and walked into your side of the room.
- Yes, I think you're right, I'm gonna take a bath and get ready - you said.
Before you could leave she asked.
- How was tennis with Princess Wanda? I can see you're really happy.
You froze for a second but then raised your head with a small smile.
- Yes, it was really funny... It's always funny.
You started walked again but she stopped your tracks once more, making you tense immediately with her next words.
- Maybe you can teach me, I'll go with you next time.
You didn't say anything, just slightly nodded your head and walked out.
Natasha was afraid that maybe she was trying to force herself into your daily activities, she didn't want bother you in any way, or make you upset with her.
But when you meet her again in the car that night, suddenly your behavior towards her changed dramatically.
You treated her kind and lovely the whole night. For the first time she felt like she was your fiancé and not just some random stranger that came into your life.
But the fairytale broke down the moment you stepped into your house. You only said goodnight to her and leave to go to your bed.
She wondered what she could've possibly done to make you upset again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For the next weeks you kept your distance for her like before, only talking to her when it was necessary. And she was starting to get pissed.
- I just want to know what can I do to make you feel closer to me... I've been trying for weeks to connect with you but nothing ever change. Just tell me what's wrong, so we can fix it.
You've been arguing for the last twenty minutes, you told her you'd go to play tennis and she started to yell at you.
- There's nothing to fix, because nothing is wrong Natasha... I just have a hard time to open myself with new people...
- But I'm not new people, I'm your fiancé, we're gonna get married Y/N, let's start acting like a couple for once.
You sighed. Tired.
- What do you want me to do? I just don't feel comfortable yet...
- Oh but you're not even trying, everyday you find something to get yourself busy with, and your spare time goes all in tennis and Princess Wanda... When will you have time for me?
You heart stopped. How dare she to even pronounce Wanda's name.
- Wanda has nothing to do with this - you said, almost in a whisper.
- I know, I'm not blaming her for anything, I'm blaming you...
You were about to say something when the butler knocked the door.
- Excuse me ma'am, Princess Wanda Maximoff is here for the tennis practice, she's waiting for you in the main hall.
You fixed your messy clothes and answered.
- Thanks, tell her I'll be with her in a minute.
- Yes your royal highness.
The butler left, leaving you and Natasha alone again.
- I need to go - you said, without looking at her.
- I know - she contained the tears - Just leave, I also need to go, I'm having tea with your mother later.
You nodded and walked out, with her following you some steps behind.
When you made it to the first floor your bad mood changed completely at the sight of your lover.
- Wanda, it's so nice to see you! Ready for tennis? - you asked, kissing her right hand and cheeks.
- Yes, let's go! - she replied.
When two guards followed you she quickly stopped them.
- Oh we're taking the horses, no need for security, just two best friends riding and playing... The Princess and I will be fine.
- Yes, don't worry, I'll be back in a few hours - you completed.
- Of course ma'am - your guards nodded.
Natasha saw the whole interaction, her eyes burning in jealousy. She knew Wanda was your best friend, but her instincts were screaming her something was off. She decided to ask your mother that afternoon.
--------------------------
- Oh dear lord! - Wanda screamed in pure bliss, three of your fingers buried deep inside her intimacy, you leaving small kisses all along her jaw and neck.
- Go on my lady, let me see you reach euphoria once more...
- Yeah... - she panted - Take me to heaven again Y/N, just keep doing that...
Your moans were hidden by the walls of the small cabin.
- Y/N... I'm gonna...
You felt her orgasm crash on your fingers, her wetness dripping down your hands and rolling down her thighs.
- Wanda... - you panted, taking the three fingers to your mouth - Oh God... - you moaned - You're so magical...
She smiled at you, wasting no time and kissing you as deep as she could, tasting herself in your mouth.
A few moments later you were both tangled in each other's arms, resting after your love making evening.
- Oh how I wish I could wake up every day inside your arms - she said with her head resting on your chest.
- I know, I would make love to you every morning and every night... I would take care of your sleep, watch you fall asleep into my arms, giving a goodnight kiss in the forehead...
A tear rolled down her face.
- We would be happy...
You nodded.
- Yes... So happy.
She stared at you for some seconds before speaking again.
- Are you happy? - she asked.
- What do you mean? You know I'm not - you answered, confused.
- I know, but you have a wife, Princess Natasha is beautiful... Have you bonded with her already?
You denied, shaking your head.
- Not really, I spend all my time doing my duties and my spare time I spend it with you...
She smiled sheepishly.
- Has she notice your absence?
You sighed.
- Yeah, just this morning before you came we were arguing about it... She wants me to spend more time with her...
- Same with Vision - she said - He wants me to go with him in this trip he's having next month... I don't think I'll can refuse
You blink confused.
- Does that mean I will not see you? For how long?
Your heart shredded.
- Three weeks...
- Oh...
She immediately sensed your mood change.
- But I will came back to you... Like always.
- I know... I trust you, I don't trust Vision though...
- Don't worry, no matter what happens I will always be yours.
- I'll always be yours too.
- Take this time to be with Natasha, calm her down and win her trust, it's your wife after all.
You sighed and nodded.
- I'll do whatever you ask me to... - you said kissing her hand.
She fell silent for a few moments. You turned to look at her and saw in her expression what was happening. She was thinking… processing something.
- What's wrong, my love? - you asked - What's going on in that beautiful mind of yours?
She looked into your eyes, gazing at you for a moment before speaking.
- I want you to marry Natasha during my absence… I need you to seal your commitment to her while I'm not here. If I'm not present, I won't have to attend to the wedding, and I won't have to endure the pain of seeing you marry someone else… If you don't do it within those weeks, I'll be forced to attend your wedding, and I… I don't think I can bear it, Y/N… I won't be able to.
She was right. Due to your trip to the Romanoff realm, you didn't have to be present at Wanda's sudden wedding. You didn't have to go through the pain of seeing her standing at the altar with someone else. It wouldn't be fair to her to see you with Natasha.
You nodded and kissed her forehead. Both of you were crying, and you held her hand.
- I promise I will - you said - For you, Wanda. I just want you to know that even if it's Natasha to whom I vow love and eternal devotion at the altar, my words and my heart will always belong to you and only you.
That evening, you returned home with a heavy heart. But to your misfortune, the tragedies wouldn't stop that day. As soon as you passed through the grand and elegant door adorning your entrance, you saw your father's guards waiting. That only meant he was visiting, and that couldn't be good.
- Your Royal Highness - a man bowed before you - Your Majesty, King Williams is in the main study waiting for you.
You surveyed your surroundings before responding. Everything was in overwhelming silence. You looked for your butler and inquired - Is Princess Natasha at home?
- No, Your Highness, Princess Natasha is still visiting the royal palace with the queen, your mother," he responded.
You took a deep breath - I see - you cleared your throat - I will speak with my father right away. If the princess returns home, please notify me immediately. It is of the utmost importance that I speak with her.
You turned and made your way to the study. With every step you took, you could feel your heart beating stronger. You knew what was coming. As soon as you crossed that door, your father would reproach you for not paying enough attention to Natasha. You were nervous about the reprimand, but it was somewhat reassuring to know that this time you had an answer to his accusations.
- Your Majesty - you spoke, but he didn't look at you - To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit, Father? - You walked over and took a seat across from him. It was only then that you noticed his cold gaze.
- I'm afraid my visit won't bring you any pleasure, Y/N - he said - Your wife paid a visit today to your mother; they had tea together.
- I'm aware of that, Natasha mentioned it this morning - you said, trying to sound confident.
- My question here is, where were you? - he asked.
- I played tennis with Princess Wanda most of the afternoon, and we went riding for a while. I lost track of time between the game and our conversation... - you explained but your father interrupted you.
- Natasha told us where you were… She also mentioned some more interesting things about those little escapades of yours with Princess Wanda… I didn't like what I heard at all, Y/N - he said.
- Father, Wanda and I…- you began, but he interrupted.
- Wanda and you are no more, it ended the moment she got married and you became engaged - he shouted - Don't you understand? Natasha suspects you and Wanda, she has doubts about her marriage, this is very serious, Y/N. It could trigger political problems and destabilize our marriage agreements with her kingdom. As the heir to this realm, you have a responsibility to your people and to me. I cannot allow your actions to jeopardize our political stability. It's important that you maintain a strong relationship with Natasha and avoid any suspicion about your relationship with Wanda.
- There is nothing between Wanda and me, Father… we had something in the past, as you well know, but now she is married. It hasn't been easy for me, but I believe it's time to stabilize the situation. Wanda will be going on a trip with Prince Jarvis, and today we discussed my wedding. She encouraged me to get married as soon as possible to reassure Natasha about our marriage… I want to have the wedding in two weeks - you explained.
- Is that so… - he looked at you, analyzing - Well, so be it. Let's not delay any further. As soon as I return to the palace, I will inform your mother about your decision, and we will proceed with the necessary preparations. There's no turning back from this.
- You may think you've appeased me with your sudden decision to marry, but you can't deceive me, Y/N. The matters you have with Wanda… put an end to them. I am giving you the opportunity to do it on your terms. Remember that you are the heir; you must find a way to balance your personal feelings with your responsibilities as the future queen. I don't want to take drastic measures, but if you can't control this situation, I will have to intervene… and then I assure you, you will never see Wanda again - he warned.
Your father left your home, and the next morning, the entire kingdom was aware of your wedding. Natasha was in total ecstasy. As soon as you informed her of the date, she kissed you fervently and headed to the palace to begin preparations for your wedding.
No matter how hard you tried, you couldn't muster a spark of excitement. You seemed like a walking corpse. But your father's threats echoed in your mind, and you forced yourself to be the perfect fiancée for Natasha. In front of people, you looked like the ideal couple, planning the dream wedding together. But deep inside, you were dying to leave it all behind and run into Wanda's arms.
After two weeks that felt like an eternity, the day finally arrived. You were just hours away from getting married. Natasha was getting ready at the palace with her mother, while you prepared in the privacy of your home.
In that intimate moment, you allowed yourself to write a letter to Wanda, letting your heart speak and conveying all your love and devotion for her. When you finished, you placed it in the pocket of your shirt, right over your heart, and prepared to leave. You would find a way to deliver it to her later.
The moment had come. The entire kingdom was waiting. Natasha, her parents, and your parents were all there. It seemed like the most meticulously planned event of the year, with nothing missing. But to you, everything was missing because even though you were about to get married, the love of your life was not there.
The ceremony had passed quickly. You felt like your soul had left your body, but it was your turn to speak.
- Dear Natasha...
Wanda, thousands of kilometers away, knew what was happening. Her heart ached at the thought of you becoming someone else's wife today. She only found peace in remembering your words, knowing that any promise you made to Natasha today would truly be for her.
- Today, before all the witnesses from our respective kingdoms, I make this sacred commitment. I promise to be loyal and faithful in body and spirit, and always honor the alliance we have forged, an alliance that in my heart is deeper than others may understand. On sunny days and in dark nights, I will stand by your side, fulfilling the duties entrusted to us. I promise to be your unwavering support, your confidante, and your closest friend, even when our differences challenge us. Though our paths may seem divergent, in my heart, you will always be present. May our souls find solace in this commitment, and may our union, despite the hardships, shine as a beacon of hope in this realm. May the love I have for you, though I may not openly name it, guide my actions and thoughts as we fulfill our destiny. May our marriage, though not the one we would have chosen, be a source of strength and wisdom for us both. So I promise, with all the sincerity and respect you deserve.
Natasha smiled. You both kissed. Wanda cried. You cried. You touched your chest, where Wanda's letter resided, and smiled despite the tears.
When the wedding was over and you and Natasha were back home, you couldn't make love to her. You touched her, yes. She felt loved, yes. But you didn't feel anything. Your body belonged to Wanda. You didn't let Natasha touch you. As soon as it was over, you headed to the bathroom to take a shower.
Natasha, savoring the last moments of innocence, believing that you were completely hers, took your shirt in her hands to smell your perfume once more. She loved your scent. But as she brought the garment to her nose, she felt the stiffness of paper in her hands. Curiously, she took the letter from the pocket, and in a matter of seconds, everything fell apart.
There, in her hands, was the proof of your eternal love for Wanda. A letter, written a couple of hours ago, before joining your life with hers, where you professed your eternal devotion to another woman.
My Wanda:
As I write these words, my heart is filled with a love that cannot be contained or constrained by the circumstances surrounding us. In the dark hours leading up to my forced marriage, I want you to know that my love and devotion belong to you, and you alone.
Although the world has forced us down different paths, and we are destined to marry others, I want you to know that my heart will always be yours. Our love is a fire that burns deep within me, a fire that no arranged marriage can extinguish.
Every moment we share, every stolen glance, every whispered word in secret, is a treasure in my memory that I hold dear with all my being. You are the light that brightens my life, the reason I smile amidst the darkness of our situation.
Though words cannot fully express the magnitude of what I feel for you, I want you to know that I am willing to face whatever is necessary to protect our love, even if it means sacrificing some of my own happiness. I am bound by word and paper, but my body, mind, soul, and heart will always belong to you.
No matter what the future holds for us, rest assured that you will always be my love, my confidante, and my deepest longing. Our love is a secret that only we share, a bond that no one can break.
When I stand at the altar, reciting my vows to someone I did not choose, rest assured that my heart will beat for you and only you, as I promised. I will keep our love in a special and safe place in my heart, dreaming of the future that was stolen from us, where we are together without restrictions.
With all my love and devotion, always yours.
Y/N.
There, Natasha knew it. There was no turning back. She had married someone who didn't love her. You weren't hers, and you never would be.
As soon as you emerged from the bathroom, you saw Natasha holding the letter in her hands, tears streaming down her cheeks. She knew.
- Natasha...
- You lied to me.
- No, I didn't lie to you… My father forced me… they separated us, Natasha.
- All this time, I've been a fool… and you! - she pointed at you, shouting, crying inconsolably - How could you deceive me like this?
- You don't understand, you never will. It was never my intention to hurt you, Natasha…
- You've betrayed me, Y/N… you married me while all this time you were thinking about your mistress - Natasha cried.
At that moment, you lost your temper. You would never let anyone speak of Wanda in such a way.
- Don't speak of her like that. Wanda is not to blame. Don't ever say her name again… never - you asserted.
She laughed bitterly, wiping the tears from her face - It is what it is, Y/N, nothing more than your mistress…
It was then that you shouted - Don't you understand? You are the other woman in all of this… she and I were happy, she's the love of my life. Until they forced us apart. Titles don't matter, Natasha. She will always be my priority. YOU ARE THE OTHER WOMAN.
- NO! You are married to me! She is the other woman - Natasha shouted back.
You ran your hand through your hair in desperation. You sat down on the bed with your hands on your face. Natasha was crying, standing.
- I don't love you, Natasha. My father forced me to marry you. The day I saw Wanda for the last time, she asked me to have the wedding as soon as possible. I only moved forward with the plans because she requested it. You must understand that there is no one else for me but her.
Natasha looked at you, heartbroken.
- My kingdom needs yours for its resources; our union is the largest and most important due to the size of your realm. On the other hand, you need my kingdom for our reserves, as long as you are married to me, there will be stability. This marriage benefits us all, and I need us to cooperate to provide the peace our people deserve.
You explained, and she knew it was true.
- The kingdom of Wanda is small; it didn't serve much purpose to unite us. Besides, her parents had promised her hand to Prince Jarvis since she was born. We had everything against us, Natasha. We still have everything against us - you said - I'm sorry that I can't be the partner you desire, but unfortunately, the story of my life was written long before I met you. I belong to Wanda, and Wanda belongs to me. You need me, and I need you. The union is done, but you must know that I can't love you as you desire, I never will.
By this point, Natasha was just sobbing. You got up from the bed and walked to your side of the room.
- We have breakfast with our families tomorrow. We must be at the palace at nine o'clock.
You left the room, and your body felt more relaxed. You wouldn't have to pretend anymore.
Time passed, and Wanda returned from her trip. As soon as she set foot on land, she ran to find you at the cabin. She tearfully told you that Jarvis had been with her. He wanted an heir. With desperation and desire, you claimed her body for hours.
Months later, when her son was born, Natasha and you visited the couple in their palace. Wanda smiled as she showed you the little one. He was so much like Wanda that you cried with emotion. In that small moment when you held little Tommy, and Wanda sang to him beside you, you allowed yourself to dream of what could have been. The future and happiness that were denied to you. For a brief moment, you pretended that this was your little family. And you cried. You cried for everything that was taken from you.
Natasha, who watched everything from afar, finally understood. Wanda and you loved each other and would love each other forever. She could never compete with her.
She was just another piece in the chessboard that life played. She couldn't do anything else but resign herself. In the end, no one was happy. Not her. Not you. Not Wanda. Everyone was miserable because of someone else's desires. But that's how life was, and like the others, she had to accept it.
Chocolate and Promises..
Pairing: Platonic Loki x reader
Warnings: fluff, comfort, mentions of cheating
Summary: you have been friends with Loki awhile, so when he locks himself away you make it your mission to get to the bottom of it....
Tumblr media
You ran into the common room, looking around furrowing your eyebrows "where are you?" You whispered to yourself running to the library seeing it empty. Sighing, you made your way back downstairs, knocking on Thor's door. "Lady y/n, what can I assist you with?" Thor asked opening the door. "Hey, have you seen Loki? It's been a few days and I'm starting to worry." You said looking up at the God. "Hmm, now that you mention it, it has been a bit. Last I heard he was going to his girlfriends house, other then that I am not sure." Thor said "ok, thanks, I'll try his room again. He didn't answer last time." You said walking off.
"Hey jarvis?" You asked to the ceiling "yes miss y/n, what can I do for you?" The AI asked "is Loki in the tower?" You asked crossing your arms "Yes miss, he is in his room." It said. Shaking your head "what is he doing?" You asked "He hasn't moved from his bed miss." It said. Furrowing your eyebrows "is he sick, or hurt?" You asked "no miss, my scans show he is in perfect health, no irregularities." It said. "Ok thank you." You sighed. You had been friends with the God since he came to live at the tower, you could say he was your best friend, and you knew it was rare for him to lock himself away.
You knew eachothers pasts, and never judged eachother. You were his rock and he was yours. In the time you had gotten to know him you knew he had nightmares, him finding his way to your room many times after one not wanting to be alone. And you knew there were times when he would feel low, sad even. And in those times you stood by him, pulling him out, and that's exactly what your were going to do now.
You ran to the kitchen, throwing the kettle on you grabbed two mugs and the hot cocoa, he never admitted it to anyone else but his love of chocolate was unparalleled. You grabbed a tray form under the sink, you set the mugs on it, grabbing the marshmallows and whipped cream you poured the water in, mixing it adding the finishing touches. You went to the cupboard, grabbing your box of chocolates and cookies you piled everything on the tray "perfect." You smiled, grabbing the tray you were off.
"Jarvis, please open Loki's door." You said to the ceiling "Miss, he has asked not to be disturbed, I cannot open the door." The AI told you. "Well tell him it's me." You huffed balancing the tray. A few minutes later the door opened, you walked in seeing Loki sit up in bed. Closing the door with your foot you made your way over to him "Hey Loki, are you doing ok?" You asked, setting the tray down on the nightstand. "I am fine y/n, I'm not really up for company though." He said "I understand, I just haven't seen you for a few days, I just wanted to check on you." You said tilting your head to look at him, his hair hiding his face.
"I said I am fine." He snapped as you crossed your arms. "Loki, if you want me to go I will, but you don't need to snap at me." You said, watching him slowly look up at you, seeing his eyes red and puffy. "Loki, what's wrong?" You asked sitting down next to him "i...it doesn't matter y/n." He said wiping his face "Yes it does, who do I need to kill?" You asked seeing him smile. "It's silly y/n." He said "no, someone hurting you is not silly, what happened." You demanded, his eyes meeting yours.
"I...I went to my girlfriends house. I wanted to surprise her, take her out." He said fidgeting with his fingers "I knocked on the door and a man answered." He sighed "well, he could have been her brother or.." you started "He was in his boxers." He said flatly "oh..." you said looking down. "She then came to the door in a robe, she told me I was emotionally unavailable, and she didn't want to be with me anymore." His voice becoming a whisped "I'm so sorry Loki." You said grabbing his hand. "Maybe eveyone is right, love will never find me." He sighed, laying his head back. "I don't believe that for a second." You said moving to sit next to him.
"I think you just haven't found your person yet." You said, handing him a mug of cocoa "My person?" He asked taking a sip. "Yes, I think everyone has a person, you just haven't found yours yet, but you will." You smiled grabbing your mug. "I see wonderful things for you Loki, you just don't know it" you said watching him furrow his eyebrows "can you see the future y/n?" He smiled "no, but I know you, I see you. You have a lot of love inside you, whether you want to admit it or not. Do you want to know what I see for you?" You asked seeing him nod. "Ok, close yours eyes, I'll set the scene." You smiled seeing him close his eyes.
"I see you, coming home from a mission, opening the door to your home, hearing your wife call out to you, rushing to hug you as you throw your things down, lifting her in your arms while she hugs you." You said, looking over seeing his eyes still closed "and as you set her down, your daughter runs in, picking her up you hold them both close as they tell you how much they love you and missed you. That's what I see for you Loki." You said, seeing his eyes open, a tear rolling down his cheek. "It is a lovely thought y/n, but I'm afraid I may never have that." He said looking down.
Sitting up straight you turned towards him "Loki, in the time I've had to get to know you, I have learned many things about you. You above all are kind, caring, stupidly intelligent, ridiculously funny, and devishily handsome." You winked seeing him smile. "And it is an honor to be your friend, and anyone lucky enough to call your theirs, will posses one of the greatest treasures in the whole universe." You said motioning around with your arms. "You think quite highly of me y/n." He said smiling "well, that's because you are epically amazing, and until you see what I see, I will remind you everyday." You smiled.
"What would I do without you?" He asked "Oh, I'm sure you would be fine." You smiled grabbing your chocolates, handing him one. "No, I don't think I would be." He smiled. You picked up a chocolate, holding it up as you knocked yours against his "to us, two fantastic, sexy people that no one is good enough for." You said popping the chocolate in your mouth hearing Loki laugh. "There he is, I knew I'd find him" you smiled poking his side. "I'll tell you what, I'll make you a deal." You said wiping your hands on your pants.
"What's that love?" He asked sitting up, pushing his hair back. "If, in let's say ten years neither of us are married, we marry eachother." You said holding your hand out. "Seriously?" He asked furrowing his eyebrows "absolutely. Your a catch, and I'm undeniably amazing, so..what do you say?" You asked watching him. He smiled, looking into your eyes "I will hold you to that y/n." He said grabbing your hand, slowly shaking it. "I would expect nothing less." You winked, smiling at him.
You didn't know what the future held for either of you, what you did know was you would always be by his side....
The common room is quiet. Occasionally, the silence is broken by Natasha turning a page in her book, or the soft scratch of Steve drawing in his sketch pad.
“Geez, did someone die?” Clint asks as he walks in. He drops onto the floor next to Bucky, who tenses slightly, but doesn’t look away from the jigsaw puzzle in front of him. “You need a hand with that?”
“I’d love one,” Bucky deadpans, motioning towards his empty sleeve. Steve nearly chokes on his tea. He doesn’t always wear the arm around the tower, especially on days when his shoulder aches. Clint barks out a laugh and reaches in front of Bucky for a puzzle piece.
“You two are idiots,” Natasha mumbles from her perch on the couch.
“You still love me.”
“Still not really sure why,” she replies dryly, but Clint just grins. He turns the piece over in his hand.
“What is this supposed to be, anyway?”
“Kittens. Look.” Bucky shows him the top of the box so he can see the picture. It’s cute. Really cute.
“The Winter Soldier is building a puzzle with kittens on it and I’m the weird one here?” he asks rhetorically. Bucky just shakes his head, but he’s hiding the beginnings of a smile behind the hair in his face.
He’s used to Clint’s teasing. At first, the others would tip toe around him. But Clint barged into his space like he did with everyone else, never with any hesitation. And it helped. It made him feel normal.
It isn’t long before Clint gets bored with the puzzle. Bucky doesn’t take it personally, and the archer moves to the couch to snuggle in with Natasha instead. Her fingers card through his hair, never looking away from the novel she’s engrossed in.
“Hey, Nat.” She sighs. “Are you busy?” Steve tries unsuccessfully to hide his laugh with a cough, and she shoots him a lazy glare.
“No, Clint, I’m not busy.” She sets the book aside and stretches.
“Will you play Mario Kart with me? Jarvis cheats.”
“Of course I will. Go get the controllers. And grab some for the old men, too.”
Bucky looks toward Clint, and he’s suddenly trying not to laugh. “Guess I might need that hand after all.”
Rhodey grunted where he was clearing their path of spiderwebs and other icky things (Tony and Pepper had both screamed loud enough to wake the dead the first time they’d walked into a massive spider web, so Rhodey had been unanimously elected the clearer of paths. Funnily enough, he had not gotten a vote). “The GPS says to go straight.”
“Why, exactly, do we have both a GPS and a paper map?” Tony asked, as if either of his partners were going to answer him. “The map is over a century old, right? And what did you set the GPS to to find hidden treasure that exists only in stories? Does no one else see the problem here? And we were supposed to go right.”
Recovery (ao3) - Jaune_Chat E, 41k
Summary: After Tony is forcibly turned into an omega, he has to discover who he is now, who he can trust, and how to learn to live with his pack.
Recovery Protocol (ao3) - westiec M, 1k
Summary: “In my defense,” Tony says tiredly, “I did warn you both this could happen.”
“When you said metabolizing Extremis would involve ‘hormonal fluctuation, volatile emotions, and intense cravings,’ I didn’t realize you meant…” Pepper trails off, gesturing with hands that are only slightly glowing at the fingertips at the three of them sprawled across the mess of the oversized bed.
Dealing with the Extremis in Pepper's system comes with some interesting side effects, but a little stay-cation might be just what she, Rhodey, and Tony need.
second honeymoon (ao3) - starkly G, 1k
Summary: “We’re never too old to enjoy ourselves,” Tony says. “Hence the second honeymoon.”
“I think it’s just called an anniversary,” Rhodey replies, though he smiles at last, setting his hands on Tony’s hips.
“Nope, second honeymoon. Because you weren’t there for our first one.”
Sudden and Silent in its Arrival (ao3) - PheonixFalls E, 24k
Summary: 22 1/2 hours of drive time, 1,461 miles of increasingly icy roads, and Los Angeles still isn't far enough back in Pepper's rearview mirror. But when her car breaks down just over the South Dakota state line, she meets a pair of men who give her a reason to stop running.
tony has a type (ao3) - graveltotempo N/R, 3k
Summary: In a universe in which James Rhodes is Iron Man and Tony Stark is his mostly stay at home husband (and Pepper Potts' trophy boyfriend), Tony finds out that Rhodey's team includes a hot tall blonde and a short handsome genius.
So he does the most obvious thing a petty and bitchy househusband such as himself would do.
He throws a dinner party.
we wished upon parallel lines (ao3) - sabinelagrande T, 1k
Summary: There's something always missing, something that can't be found.
What Good Is The Moonlight (ao3) - circ_bamboo M, 7k
Summary: On his thirteenth birthday, Tony Stark wakes up with a name on his chest and a name on his shoulder.
Fortunately, so do Rhodey and Pepper.
Scars(20)
Chapter 20: And She liked it
Tumblr media
Warning: fluff, cursing,
As much as Alice wanted to continue kissing Loki, never letting go, oxygen was essential. Beginning to feel light-headed and dizzy, Alice pushed Loki away, letting up for air.
"Sorry, Darling. Got a little carried away," Loki said as he saw her panting. She took a moment to lay down on her bed.
"It's okay...I liked it" She reached forward and touched his cheek Loki smiled as he leaned down to give her a much softer and less heated kiss.
-
"And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you play. " Tony said as he scooped up his winnings in the table, The Avenger regularly played poker but never with money. "Alright, I say we call it a night you guys have nothing left, and I'm tired of taking from- Hey Baby," Tony immediately changed his tone as Pepper walked into the room.
"Hey, what are you guys doing?" Pepper leaned on Tony's shoulder.
"Poker," Steve said
"more like an auction," Sam corrected.
"Oh, who's winning "
Everyone looked at Tony, Pepper looked at Tony Suspiciously he just smiled. She looks down, notices a shiny silver bracelet on Tony's wrist, and hits him on the back of the head " He's cheating," she states, snatching the bracelet off.
"I knew it," Natasha said, glaring at him.
"Lilly is helping him."
"Lilly? Who's Lilly"
"I'm Lilly" Clint jumps as a woman appears behind him she waves " And your hand was terrible the whole game. I didn't have to help there" She pointed to Bruce
"What the fuck?" Bucky stared the woman up and down. Looking her up and down one would think she just appeared But Steve and Bucky could see that she held no heartbeat and she did not breathe.
"This is Lilly. Alice's mother," Tony said, squeezing Pepper's hand.
"AI Hologram," Bruce said as he put his glasses back on, getting a good look at her.
"Again, what the fuck?" Bucky said Thor passed him a bottle of Asgardian booze.
Tony mumbled something before he stood up and left the room Pepper gave them and strained smile before following. Lilly appears in his seat and folded her hands in her lap. " I'm Lilly. Tony made me from his memories. He plugged me in recently."
The room was silent as everyone let the information settle in. Lilly sat awkwardly, more to them than her, as everyone looked off in the distance slowly accepting some weird shit Tony once again provided. Everyone looked as Lilly spoke again.
"I'm like J.A.R.V.I.S. with control of most of the tower when I'm plugged up. with the exception of a few floors."
"What floors are you restricted from," Natasha asked curiously she and Clint were wondering which floor and why if she was an AI like Jarvis.
"Alice's floor. But I can look at her room from security cameras".
At the mention of security cameras, Bruce tensed up as Lilly looked directly at him for a moment and smiled. She knew she knew more than he knew. Hell, she knew what was happening right now, at this very moment, with Alice and Loki. But just like Bruce, she was keeping a secret.
-
Alice asked for another kiss and another and another. And Loki obliged. Alice asked for more kisses, and Loki gave them to her. Alice was very inexperienced, and Loki was her teacher. And he was going to give her a life's worth of kissing lessons.
"Lightly bite and pull," Loki instructed as demonstrated on her lips she whimpered as he nibbled on her bottom lip. She did as she was told and repeated his actions. She leaned forward to do it again.
"Open," Loki demanded, she opened her mouth. She closed her eyes and gasped as she felt his tongue dip into her mouth. Alice pulled him closer and held on tight as he explored her mouth. Oh, she wanted so much more she wanted to taste and feel him more. She wanted so much more. But she was mortal, and he was not. Oxygen was more important and essential to her than him. She pulled back "I'm sorry"
"No, ...no I'm sorry I forgot you had to breath" Loki chuckled as gently stroked her cheek.
"It's okay. I liked it"
-
Loki stayed with Alice until she fell asleep then he slipped away giving her a gentle kiss on her forehead and then he was gone.
Bruce nearly jumped out of his skin when he came out of the bathroom to find Loki sitting at his desk.
"Do you want him to kill you?!"
"I thought we were on my friendly terms"
Bruce sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose " What do you want? "
"Alice"
"Is she alright? What happened" Bruce asked, worry in his voice..
"she's fine for now. She's asleep. There was an incident that happened that I wanted to talk to you about."
Bruce picked at his sweater nervously. He wished he had never found out about their relationship he wouldn't be in this position if he hadn't. If only Bruce just stayed in his room that day.
"what is it? what happened?"
"Earlier, Thor barged into my room without knocking, I had to quickly teleport from her room to mine."
"Yeah, he was inviting you to game night," Bruce remembered
"I left without saying anything to her. When I came back a few minutes later she was in tears hysterical beside herself. Just in a panic, She was upset because I left her without a word. She thought I had abandoned her.
I can see why my sudden leaving would upset her, but to that extent, I-I don't understand. "
"Okay," Bruce said as he ran his hands over his face and sat down " Alice grew up and was raised in isolation with only her dad, a dad who wasn't really around and disappeared frequently with no explanation.
I think she's grown attached to you as the only one who comes to her so frequently, almost every day, she comes to depend on you and was scared and thought she lost you for a second."
Or at least this is what gathered from what he knew about (Y/n) as a person, her relationship with her father, and then her relationship with Loki. Alice had very few people in her life it wasn't a shock to see her clinging to people that gave her the most attention. Loki, in this case. And panicked when said person took away such attention with no sudden warning.
"Will she be like this every time I leave?" Loki didn't like the idea of Alice being hurt in any way.
"I think as long as you give her a heads up and give her some time to adjust would help. I don't know what else to do"
"Thank you, Dr. Banner" And in a flash, Loki was gone. And Bruce collapsed onto his bed.
"Why does everyone think I'm that kind of doctor"
Do you think Howard was faithful to Marla? I ask this cuz a part of me says yes but then realistically, his history 😭😭 speaking of history, and the bits and pieces we got. What do you think Howard’s childhood/up bringing was like? And how do you think it shaped him? I love your analysis
Hi! Thanks for the ask!
I actually will give a definite yes on the question of Howard's fidelity to Maria. His raunchy history and the time period is certainly something that could make you question it, but Howard didn't perfectly fit into the common mold of a man back then and he was a playboy because he didn't commit. Howard was very free with his affections when he was single. And that's the key - he was for and in any willing woman because he had no commitments and certainly didn't entertain the women who thought he would settle down for them (cue montage of Peggy and Jarvis visiting all those women who were pissed at Howard for disappearing the next day and leaving them with a bracelet lol).
Everything was casual for him. Peak flaky womanizer with no strings attached - at least on his end. But when it comes to committing to someone he presumably actually cares about, well, I don't see MCU Howard indulging in that kind of betrayal. I can agree on things like "Howard was a negligent husband and father" or "Howard grew to be emotionally unavailable to his wife" because we see pieces of those aspects in him already. Infidelity though? I can't find the breadcrumbs for that. In fact, he seems to be more loyal to people he cares about.
I will say though, that if Howard at any point of his life stuck with a casual girlfriend rather than a wife, well, lol. The cheating trait might have a leg to stand on. Depends on how much he values someone. But even then, I think he'd just send Jarvis to the hypothetical gf to break up for him if he lost interest in her.
When it comes to his childhood...I honestly don't have any solid theories. Howard told us he grew up poor with parents who didn't hold jobs that would be considered high ranking. The area he grew up in was poor. And so, to make it to the wealthiest parts of society, he lied and cheated his way up seeing as his charm, intelligence and wit were the only resources he had to use. I'd imagine Howard's genius was isolating at times. Not only when it came to connecting to his peers, but maybe also with his parents. People who have super-genius children often don't know how to accommodate their intellect, even if they had the resources to put their kid's brain to use. Howard's parents evidently had none, so who knows with that. On the subject if I have any headcanons on Howard's parents being loving vs abusive, well. I can only imagine that they, at most, were emotionally distant. Howard learned that trait from somewhere lol. I don't think they were particularly horrible to Howard...maybe confused and worried. He's an odd person. of course, this is all speculation on my part!
How it shaped it - well, it's how we see him act now (in Agent Carter)! He keeps most people at a distance, is flaky, distrusting of even the people he values, ect ect. But, his difficult upbringing and rise to the top also gifted him a sense of empathy, generosity and some righteous anger. He completely understands the nuances of societal discrimination and how difficult it can be for people with different lives. Hence why he himself is not a hateful bigot.
I'm glad you like my character posts <3 <3 <3!! Honestly, I never expected to talk about Howard this much. I already liked him in CATFA, but Agent Carter added so much more dimension to his character and it peaked my interest. And as I've said, I never know how to like something a normal amount lol.
An A-maze-ing Afternoon
Stephen was starting to wonder if the two of them had somehow wandered into the Mirror Dimension, as he could swear that this was the third time they’d gone down this particular aisle of the corn maze. He’d let Tony take the lead - enjoying the view from behind - but it seemed that without JARVIS’ assistance, his beloved’s navigation skills were sub-par.
“How you holding up back there, sunshine?” Tony asked over his shoulder. He was working his way through a second cup of mulled cider and appeared to be in much better spirits than Stephen himself was.
“I’m starting to think I ought to try astral projection just so we can get our bearings.” Stephen was joking … mostly.
Tony feigned a shocked look. “But that would be cheating!”
Stephen raised an eyebrow. “Your point being?”
Read the rest on Ao3!
This is a @flufftober fill for Day 6: Corn Maze and a @tonystarkbingo fill for Tony/Stephen Strange.
okay so ~3 months prior to s2, Daniel was visiting and had a one night stand with Peggy, but felt really guilty for cheating on Violet, thus not talking to Peg at all after. Cut to Peggy being sent out to LA for the Case, she was going to tell him about the pregnancy until she saw him with Vi, and decided to keep it to her self (she was still having a lot of her own internal conflict about a baby anyways.) So at this point, literally no one knows except maybe Angie, until Peggy gets Kebabbed on the rebar. Violet, know she's pregnant the minute she lifts Peggy's shirt to asses to wound, and they share this Look of Understanding--Vi understands that this is a) a secret and b) probably Daniel's kid, and they both know that there p much no chance that the pregnancy is going to survive this. Violet may be having an Emotion, but she is also respects the hell out of Peggy and doesn't say anything to anyone else. At least until Peggy leaves. She can't sleep, and early in the morning (maybe like 4 or 5 am) Daniels finds her in the kitchen and they have the Talk. Meanwhile, Peggy wakes after Jarvis puts her to bed to intense pain in her abdomen--different from from the literal hole through her body. She hobbles to the bathroom. She is in there a long time with the water running and Jason (who doesn't sleep in his ghostly form) becomes concerned. He asks if she's okay and asks if he can help her with anything, and Peggy snaps at him to go away. He goes and wakes the Jarvises and after a long time of negotiating through the door, Peggy allows Ana to come in. The boys wait until Ana pokes her head back out, serious and slightly pale. She instructs them to get some supplies without clarifying what for and, no, they still can't come in. Ana ends up holding Peggy through the night as she cries and bears through the pain. Edwin and Jason stay by the door the whole time. Jason has a (correct) hunch as to what is going on by now. Daniel rushes to her in the morning after Violet revealed the secret, only to find Ana escorting Peggy back to bed, red stained towel around her waist and eyes puffy from the emotional, sleepless night. Cue a long and emotional talk between them where Peggy tries to keep them talking about the case but Daniel refuses to let her avoid talking about Feelings. And... that's kind of all I got for the script in my head. I imagine if the convo goes well enough that Peggy lets her walls down. Daniel is a more traditional guy and would have married her, but Peggy doesn't want that--even if she were still pregnant, there was too much emotional baggage to work through first. Feelings for Jason, the communication, the miscarriage *cough* the cheating *cough*... The probably keep getting side tracked by the Case, but keep talking more through the next episodes and eventually get together. Also something about kinship with Ana after she gets shot? love, Angst Anon <3
This broke my heart so much for Peggy and all she'd gone through. Her and Ana's bond, just all of this.
Peggy needs a hug, definitely.
I absolutely love this and everything that Peggy goes through. The yearning, the cheating, the aching, the fact that Ana immediately knows what's up and doesn't tell her secret.
I think you need to write this, Anon.
One line, one fic
Rules: pick any 10 of your fics, scroll somewhere to the mid point, pick a line, and share it! Then tag 10 people.
I was tagged by the wonderful doctorhelena
Here are lines (okay, sometimes more than one) from the middlish of each story.
1.
Mid-week Mornings at the New York Bell Company and Summer Evenings in Manhattan
(An Agent Carter fic)
From chapter 2 of 3:
One or two agents still resented having been knocked out by Peggy’s fists – and the occasional, frisbeed dinner plate – but the prevailing attitude towards her fighting prowess was one of self-deprecating approbation: the humorous refrain, ‘Or we could just send Carter,’ was often heard in the bullpen when an assignment demanded maximum manpower.
2.
A Safe Community for Modern, Female Professionals
(An Agent Carter fic)
From chapter 3 of 5:
Startled, Angie realised that she had read by accident half of the first paragraph, and that this was a private thing of Peggy’s that she had no right to (just like the flunky shouldn’t have been handling Peggy’s pretty, satin nightie).
3.
An Unexpected Detour on the Way to Saving the World
(An Avengers: Endgame|Agent Carter fic)
From chapter 6 of 12:
Steve waited patiently, and Tony took the opportunity to announce his right to the seat next to the driver: as a kid he had always asked to ride up front with Mr Jarvis, and now that he was a fifty-three-year-old, flying superhero with a time machine, no one got to tell him that he was too short and he belonged in the back. (Besides, he wanted to leave the backseat free so that Cap could sit next to Peggy.)
4.
A Somebody I'm Longin' to See
(An Agent Carter fic)
From chapter 3 of 5:
The idea of Angie patronising Eve’s on Greenwich Avenue, and the idea of her ‘liking girls that way,’ revisited Peggy often in the weeks that followed. It felt like a confusing, entangled concept, intriguing and unsettling at the same time.
5.
Answering the Call
(An Avengers: Endgame | Steggy fic)
From chapter 1 of 1:
Whilst in 2023 no one would give a second thought to an unmarried woman having a man to stay with her in her home, he knew that in 1949 this was definitely not the case. He did not want to risk Peggy’s reputation for the sake of his own, selfish comfort.
I’ve run out of finished-and-posted Agent Carter / Captain America fics, so here are two from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fics (the first of which also draws on CA:TWS)
6.
Secrets Told and Kept
(An Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. | Maria Hill | Philinda fic)
From chapter 2 of 4:
Maria was too reserved, too little accustomed to flirtation, to feel at ease with either flagrant deception or seduction (although Agent Brett Morris did once reassure her, during their mercifully short partnership, that she ‘definitely had the equipment.’) But this type of play-acting was in any case best suited to brief ambushes, what Fury dubbed the ‘Peggy Method,’ of ‘fluttering her eyelashes, then beating people with a chair.’
(So I’m cheating a bit here, because this isn’t quite the middle, but I thought people likely to read this post would appreciate the Peggy Carter reference.)
7.
An Appropriate Reprimand
(An Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fic)
From chapter 1 of 1:
Skye, a veteran of many childhood misdemeanours and punishments, raised her chin defiantly. Jemma, a veteran of consistent top-of-the-class performance, screwed up her face in terrified anticipation.
Sticking with posted fic rather than wips, here are a couple of little bits from my two completed Jane Austen fics
8.
The Trials and Triumphs of the Unmarried Sister
(A Persuasion | Pride and Prejudice crossover fic)
From chapter 4 of 7:
Miss Bingley was not to be pitied. Georgiana Darcy might be an heiress with thirty thousand pounds, but she was also a mere chit of a girl, who was so artless as to wish for nothing more than the approbation of her older brother, and so simple as to consider herself fortunate to be marrying a clergyman.
9.
Miss Elliott at Home
(A Persuasion ‘missing chapter’ fic)
From chapter 1 of 1:
Here he seemed struck by a sudden thought, and he looked around the room, then lowered his voice. “And bye the bye, Frederick, I think you might consider yourself fortunate in time, that the young lady, whose name I never recall, did choose the other fellow. For we sailors must seek out a wife who will look before leaping, and who is not so flighty that she will regret the life of the sea once the deed is done. And I’m afraid we can have little use for ladies who jump about and break their heads – however pretty their faces may be!”
10.
So number 10 is a total wild card. It’s from the very first fanfic I ever attempted, which I never finished or posted. It literally goes back decades. This is an X-Files fic, effectively a season 8-AU, in which Mulder still gets abducted, but Doggett is in denial about having some kind of psychic abilities: he keeps getting flashes from Mulder’s and Scully’s past/ memeories, which he doesn’t want and can’t control, whilst he’s working with Scully investigating Mulder’s disappearance.
This isn’t even really from the middle, but hey, it’s unfinished, so who’s to say where the middle is? I am including this mostly because I think I’m more likely to get abducted by aliens than ever finish writing this story, so here are several lines of dialogue, which are very unlikely ever to the light of day otherwise!
From Untitled X-Files WIP, consisting of 4, equally unfinished chapters:
“Oh, come on, Mulder: reincarnation, ghosts, walk-ins, vampires, zombies?  You must envisage having a pretty busy schedule in the afterlife.  I don’t know how your soul is going to fit it all in.”
He grinned appreciatively.  “Vampires don’t have souls, Scully.  Don’t you watch Buffy?”
She half-smiled.  He watched her in the dim light of the car.  “You’re not really worried about my immortal soul, are you, Scully?  Because, you know, you’re a Roman Catholic and I’m a half-Jewish atheist with a propensity to embrace a wide variety of Dark-Age superstitions without rationale or consistency.  Somehow, I don’t think we’re going to get to spend eternity together.”
“Why would you say that?” she asked softly.
If you are still here, thanks for reading this post. I had fun putting it together, so thank you for the tag from doctorhelena, whose stories I love. ❤️
(Tagging some people and anyone else who reads and wants to do it!)
A Heart Of Iron Chapter 13
Tumblr media
Chapter below cut
TONY
Tony woke to the sound of screaming and the smell of burnt pancakes.
"Don't just stand there, Quill, do something! Groot, stop laughing!" Rocket shouted, "Quill, I thought you said you knew how to make pancakes!"
"In my defense, I was 8 the last time I was here! It's not like I was a professional chef or anything!" Quill protested loudly.
Tony heard a slap and Gamora saying that "There are people sleeping, Quill!", and the voices got quieter after that. Tony grumbled and rolled over in his bed, putting a pillow on his head to block out the light, but after a few minutes of not being able to fall asleep, he gave up and asked JARVIS for the time.
"It is currently 7:42am on Thursday, June 21. Would you like me to play your playlist titled 'Tony's Get The Fuck Up Playlist'?" JARVIS responded.
Not remembering what playlist that was, and too tired to care, Tony said, "Go ahead." JARVIS started blasting AC/DC's Back in Black at full volume, and Tony shot up in his bed. Deciding that he was officially awake, he got out of bed and into his wheelchair and rolled into the common area. When he got there, he froze. The frying pan was on fire, the sprinklers were on, the tip of the raccoon's tail was charred black, and the pancake batter was spilled all over the kitchen.
"What the fuck is going on here?" he asked, voice filled with confused horror.
"Quill was showing us how to make this food that you have on Earth called 'pancakes'," Rocket said, munching on a small packet of-
"Wait, why are you eating my blueberries?" Tony said accusingly.
"Groot gave them to me!" Rocket said quickly.
"I am Groot!" Groot laughed.
Quill laughed, and then went back to trying to put out the fire. Just then, Dum-E rolled in and sprayed everyone with his fire extinguisher. Once the fire was put out and everyone was sufficiently covered in the white foam, he beeped happily and looked toward Tony, who rolled his eyes in exasperation.
"Really, Dum-E?" Tony said, annoyed.
"What is this white foam? Ooh, is it food?" Drax said, bringing a scoop of the stuff to his mouth.
Quill quickly slapped it out of his hand. "Don't eat it, you idiot! It's poisonous!"
Gamora turned on Tony, eyes blazing with fury. "Why did your robot just spray us with poison?"
"It's not meant to kill you! It's meant to put out fires! Killing people's just an unfortunate side-effect," Tony explained quickly.
Just then, Loki came into the room, still half-asleep.
“What in the world is going on here?" Loki said, voice rough with sleep, and Tony felt his face heat up a bit at the sound of it.
“Idiots. That’s what happened," Tony said tiredly, and Groot let out a scandalized noise.
"What? What did they say?" Quill said worriedly.
"I am Groot!" Groot said, upset.
"Hey!" Rocket said angrily.
Before a fight could break out, a banging sound came from the roof, followed by a muffled "Ow" and Clint falling out of the vents and onto one of the beanbags in the common room.
Natasha came running down the stairs after hearing the commotion, stopping when she saw the scene before her. She immediately broke into laughter before calling for Steve, Thor, and Bruce to come down and see what happened. When they did, they immediately burst out laughing as well, and their laughter made the Guardians see the humor of the situation and they started laughing as well.
Eventually, they got the kitchen cleaned up and Steve promised to show the Guardians "what real pancakes looked like". While Steve was making the pancakes, Clint showed Quill how to play Mario Kart, and for someone who had been away from Earth for 24 years, he was really good at it. He even managed to beat Clint twice, to which Clint had declared that he had to have cheated.
Once the pancakes were ready, Steve called them all to eat. The Guardians and Clint all opted to eat in the common room so that Quill could continue playing Mario Kart, and Natasha, Bruce, Loki, Thor, Tony, and Steve all ate in the dining room, talking about what they were going to do about the aliens that were now living in the tower.
Suddenly, Bruce looked at his phone and let out a string of curse words.
"Tony?" he asked.
"Yes?" Tony responded hesitantly.
"Do you remember Project S?" Bruce said, and now Tony was really confused.
"The one with the genetically-enhanced spiders?" Tony said, bemused, "Yeah, what about it?"
"One of the spiders got out. It bit a kid who was on a tour of the facility, and now he's sticking to everything," Bruce explained worriedly.
"Shit. Have you contacted his parents?" Tony asks, starting to freak out, "Do we even know who his parents are?"
"Yep. Remember Richard and Mary Parker?" Bruce asked.
"Yeah?" Tony said hesitantly, feeling guilty just thinking about the young couple that had died in a lab explosion at one of his facilities.
"He's their son, Peter. He lives with his aunt and uncle, and we informed them, but they're unable to pick him up right now, and we can't exactly send him back to school," Bruce said.
"Great. Where is the kid now?" Tony said, already feeling protective of this kid whose life he had already messed up enough.
"They're moving him here now. He should be downstairs in about 5 minutes," Bruce said.
"Shit. Okay, guys, we need to make him feel welcome. Steve, you make some more pancakes, Bruce and Loki, you find that Lego Death Star we have somewhere - ten-year-olds like Legos, right? - and you guys," he said, pointing at the Guardians, "Um, I guess you guys go upstairs for a bit? We don't need to freak the kid out by him seeing a talking not-raccoon and living tree. I'm gonna go and greet him."
Tony went upstairs and changed into actual clothes, namely a science pun shirt and a pair of jeans. After he was changed, he went to the elevator and went downstairs to greet the kid.
PART TWO I Masterlist
____
The feeling of everything crashing around you was slow. Like your world was moving in slow motion as you processed the words. Everything else he was saying became distorted, going to waste as he tried desperately to explain himself to you. All you could hear clearly was your own breathing while you tried to will yourself to do something, anything.
Fight or flight is a funny thing, you were always so feisty and eager to fight back, A Bulldog, Steve had affectionately called you. But when he told you he was in love with someone else, that he has been in love with someone else for months, your body couldn’t find anything in it but to walk away.
Your breathing picked up and your eyes searched the ground, refusing to meet his. You felt your legs raise you up to stand and start walking away, unsure of your destination. When you pivoted to leave the room your eyes met his briefly, staring emotionlessly as his desperately searched for anything at all in yours.
“Where are you going? Doll, please, can we talk about this? I’m, I’m so sorry I-”
Whatever else he was saying wasn’t heard over the noise of opening the door and shutting it behind you. You didn’t know where you were going or what you were feeling other than the obvious. You were in a state of shock, it’s one thing to hear awful news and another to understand that it’s true but you were fastly approaching that truth head-on.
You paused for a moment in the hall and heard no movement come after you. You almost let yourself be surprised but he’d admitted he gave up on you a long time ago, so it only makes sense he wouldn’t fight your exit. You kept walking and tried to hold the floodgates of your heart closed for a bit longer.
Flashes of what was said come back to you slowly as reality sets in. “I can’t put this off any longer. I want you to know that I will always love you, but there’s someone else.”
Your head hurt like it would as if you were already crying, the blood pumping in your ears and pressure building in your temples that would no doubt evoke a long-standing headache. Your face felt hot as you stepped into the elevator, maybe you’d go for a walk in an attempt to fend off your tears. Or maybe you’d walk to a safer place to have an emotional breakdown. Whichever is easier.
Brisk gusts of air greet you as you exit the building, making you realize you left your jacket on the arm of the couch. You took a second to evaluate yourself and noticed you’d also walked out in your house slippers and a thin pair of leggings. Trying to evade the cold you tucked yourself in the doorway of a bodega down the street and dialed Bucky.
Two rings and he picked up.
“Hello?”
“Did you know?”
The silence on the line only reminds you of the blood pumping in your ears. The silence tells you everything you needed to know.
“Liste-”
You hang up.
You’re breathing even harder now. Who else knew? For how long? How long was I the joke? You need to find somewhere else to be soon or all these strangers are going to get an eyeful of a grown woman sobbing. You dial the last number you’d expect to at a time like this.
“What’s happening, shortstack?”
You can hear Tony’s grin through the phone and his easy greeting gives you momentary comfort.
“Can I come over? Something happened.”
“I’ll let Jarvis know to let you in” Tony’s tone is understanding, not needing you to explain further, just letting you know you can come to him.
____
Tony’s only seven blocks from yours and Steve’s shared apartment, a fact you’re grateful for when you feel your feet aching every time they hit the pavement. The conversation replays in your head, you try to word what happened in your head and your anger starts overtaking the heartbreak. It’s almost a welcome reprieve from the settling heartbreak but you’re not sure if you’d rather be numb to it completely.
When the elevator doors open Tony’s waiting for you with two tumblers of scotch in hand. You shake your head and move past him to the couch. He joins you on the opposite armchair and sets both his elbows down on his spread knees, resting his face in his hands.
“Would you like to talk about it or not talk about it?” He asks with a sigh.
You don’t make eye contact with him so you don’t cry, choosing to focus on the Iron Man coffee table book you’d gotten as a gag gift for Tony all those Christmases ago. It almost distracts you enough to laugh, the fact that he just has it out. But you need to tell someone what happened and get it all out before you can let yourself feel it all.
“Steveisinlovewithsomeoneelse,” You rushed it all out in one breath afraid if you didn’t get it out fast enough that you’d break. “He has been for months. He said he doesn’t know when it all changed but when he was with her things just clicked,” you paused to collect yourself, “But don’t worry, I’ll always hold a special place in his heart and he hopes this won’t affect the future of the team or our friendship.”
“Oh, and he’s really sorry.” you added.
You laughed bitterly and shook your head in disbelief. His delivery had been so cold but so sincere, very to the point but pained in its delivery. “I just, whatever we had, it’s just gone. Things are just different now, with her, this kills me though, please believe me. You’re still really special to me.” Bullshit. Special enough to act as a placeholder until someone better comes, special enough to cast aside.
You’re broken momentarily from your spiral into anger by the sound of a glass hitting a coaster a little too hard. Looking up, you find Tony quietly seething. He and Steve aren’t close by any means so you figured that he wouldn’t have known, it’s why you called him over anyone else.
He moves slowly to your side on the couch and pulls you into his side. You can smell his aftershave and what you think might be burned grease from one of the many things he’s been tinkering with in the lab, it smells like him, like comfort.
“That fucking asshole. Unbelievable, I don’t even…” He leaves the thought unfinished.
His hands move up and down your arms in a soothing motion and you finally let yourself have it. You don’t even realize you’re crying until you feel the tears wet his shirt when you bury your face in. You sniffle up tears and snot when your face heats up.
There’s no way to know how long Tony lets you sob into him, no doubt ruining his vintage Depeche Mode shirt. Somewhere in the back of your mind you make a mental note to buy him a new one later. But for now you’ll just allow yourself to cry and you can deal with the world in the morning.
____
Tony lets you fall asleep on his chest, feeling somewhere between furious and heartbroken by proxy. He thinks about letting you sleep and giving Steve a piece of his mind but figures that’s not what you need right now. Your phone sits on the table and he touches the screen to check the time. No notifications on your homescreen except for a missed call from Bucky and an old photo of Steve making a funny face as your background.
Had Steve not even tried to call you? Had he not even tried to go after you? Why was Bucky of all people the only one to be trying to get a hold of you? Prick.
Selfishly Tony is glad that he has a good reason to be rude to Steve now, he has to admit. You two had always been close but when you and Steve started dating he saw less and less of you. He couldn’t fault you for it though, you were so in love with Steve and you knew that the relationship between the two of them was strained so you kept your distance a bit.
He thought of all the sacrifices you’d made for Steve. You gave up your childhood home in the Bronx that your parents had willed to you to move in with him because he wanted you to be closer to the tower. You gave up a promotion and transfer to DC when you were still just an agent, granted you were an avenger now but it doesn’t matter, he’d made a very big deal out of you turning it down. You gave up the friendship the two of you had.
It was incredible, really. How much you had done for him only for him to turn around and love someone else behind your back. Brave enough to fight aliens and terrorists but too cowardly to break up with you and leave you with some dignity. Did anyone else know about this?
Tony had to stop himself from getting too angry, afraid he’d wake you up. So instead he went back to plotting up schematics for the half-finished suit mod he’d been in the middle of when you called.
____
It’s been a week and you still haven’t properly talked to Steve. After two days on Tony’s couch you need to look at things from a logical stance. Where am I going to stay? It’s not like you had your parent’s place anymore and you didn’t want to sign a new lease on an apartment. You could always move into the tower but that meant a higher chance of running into Steve.
You were thinking about all of this out loud to Tony when he offered you the guest bedroom in his penthouse. You were shocked, he’s always been a generous man but after you drifted apart from him you were surprised he even let you stay these past few days. Maybe now was a good time to rebuild your friendship with him and have some space from work.
What’s work going to be like? You agree and go on a temporary leave from the team, just a month to collect yourself. If you really wanted to you could go back but the thought of seeing everyone that knew about Steve’s affair was humiliating and enraging in one go.
It turns out Sam had been playing therapist to Steve in all of this, Nat figured it out through some sleuthing, and Wanda had inadvertently heard his thoughts about her. And none of them thought to tell you? To save you from the anguish but to let it fester? Steve wasn’t the only one that betrayed you. They all had.
What will I say to him? Should I say anything to him? Turns out the answer was ‘nothing’. You texted him to let him know you were moving out and you’d be by to get your things as a courtesy. You walked into an empty apartment and you were almost relieved.
He’d chosen to not be here but he’d left you a letter on the kitchen counter next to a framed photo of the two of you on vacation last year. You scoff but don’t touch the letter. Every ounce of restraint you have is being used as you leave it untouched. But you don’t need to know what excuses or apologies he has on deck, nothing he could say would exonerate him of his wrong-doings. You had no intentions of speaking to him but secretly you hoped he suffered as he stewed in his guilt and inner-turmoil. He deserves to.
When you pack you leave every gift he ever gave you, taking only what you’d brought with you in the first place. You take one look at the unmade bed and almost go to make it out of habit but then you think of the two of them there together. All the long missions you went on without him, all the times you stayed late at work or went out with your friends. How many times had he been here with her while you were there?
You end up only leaving with two suitcases and a backpack full of things. Tony waits for you in the lobby, understanding you wanted your space when you went to get your things in case Steve was there.
The elevator doors open to him taking a selfie with a couple of fans and shaking hands. He’s all too happy to be recognized but when he sees you his eyes soften. Not out of pity, but fondness, like he’s proud of you for getting out.
He sends you a questioning look with a silent question. Are you okay?
You smile at him and for the first time in days it’s a genuine, non-placating, happy-to-see-you smile. It’s okay, I’ll be okay.
He takes one of your suitcases from you and helps you load them into the back of the car before opening the door for you. The drive back to Tony’s is silent but comfortable. The trust you have in each other is strong and unspoken. Something you’ve always been grateful for between the two of you.
He doesn’t ask you about Steve or what happened, always letting you come to him first, which you appreciate. And when you talk he just listens. No bullshit unsolicited advice about moving on or how everything happens for a reason or getting back out there, just listens.
You know the road ahead is long and it will be difficult, but you have someone in your corner and the knowledge that what happened isn’t your fault and that you’re a badass and fuck Steve Rogers and fuck anyone else that did you wrong in all of this. Maybe you’ll forgive them someday but for now you’re gonna focus on you and work on building yourself back up. You’re ready for the ups and downs, you’re ready to fight.
If the Avengers expected to be greeted to the compound’s common room by any way, it wouldn’t be like this.
"I want that woman out of my house!", you yelled to a teary Loki, who held his hands up to reach you from afar.
Tony and Steve looked at each other without much clue of what to do. You and Loki never fought, much less with… was that a knife in your hand? And Loki was... covered in blood?
“My love, I can explain”, he tried walking to you, but you walked back. You were bursted out in tears. “She’s…”.
“Don’t! You! Dare! Lying! To me!”, you growled, hatred consuming you, accentuating each word with a step towards him, and this time around, he took some steps back in fear you’d actually stab him out of anger. “You lying scum piece of shit! You’ve been cheating on me, haven’t you?”.
“I…”, Loki stuttered, now his back almost against the wall. Bruce seemed to be the only one who actually cared for Loki not to get stabbed, instead of appearing to be in need of popcorn, like the rest of the team.
“Say you didn’t, you’ll get yourself killed, idiot”, whispered Nat, as who whispers to the TV.
“Who are they talking about?”, whispered Bucky, rubbing his hands in expectation. “Sounds fun”.
“You lied to me!”, you yelled in between tears.
“I did”, he cried in desperation, desiring to grab your wrists to stop the knife from puncturing his throat.
“You poisoned me!”.
“I did”.
“He did what?!”, intervened Tony, but none of you paid any mind to him.
“You said you love me!”.
“I do”, he said. “I love you, you need to listen to me”.
“You cheated on me, what could you possibly say that…?”.
“I have. I’m sorry”, he admitted, and you froze in place. “Please, forgive me. She meant nothing to me… we were… I…”, he kept stuttering, some tears escaping his puffy eyes.
“You’re still lying, I can tell”, you said, throwing the knife to the floor and laying on the couch in defeat. “Do you love her?”.
“I do. I’m in love with her, always have been”, he muttered, and every single one of the Avengers gasped. Tony was ready to put his suit on, not so amused to hear his kid was being heartbroken by that bastard. Steve held him in place.
“If there’s a woman in the room, you’d want to get her out first”, he suggested in a whisper, as to not harm anyone involved except Loki.
“Were you ever going to tell me?”, you asked with a thin voice, looking him directly in the eyes. He sat by your side and grabbed your hands firmly, as if it were the last time he’d ever get to touch your delicate fingers.
“I wasn’t…”, he admitted, lies he could no longer hold, coming out like a torrent. “I only wanted you to use you. It benefitted me to date one of the Avenger’s kids and you were the easiest one to charm, because…”, he laughed through a sob, “because you’re so easy”.
“Alright, that’s it”, said Tony, putting his suit on and walking towards Loki, grabbing him by the neck and throwing him violently against the wall. The wall cracked and Loki let out a whine in protest. You yelled again, asking him to stop.
“It’s okay, I… I deserve it!”, said Loki dramatically. “They’ve been too good with me… I… tell her…”, he choked in between gasps as Tony closed his fist harder against his neck, “tell Adelaine that I love her”.
After saying that, he passed out. You ran up to him, still crying, and Tony backed up bewildered. Everyone ran towards him and scolded him, or yelled at him for having killed Loki.
“I barely pressed his neck! He’s not dead, come on!”, he defended himself. “JARVIS, take Loki’s vitals”.
“I’m afraid Loki Laufeyson is not presenting any vitals, Sir. It is too late to call the ambulance, but would you like me to call anyway? Or would you rather I call the morgue instead?”.
“WHAT?!”, it was his turn to panic now.
“Why would you do this, dad?! He was wrong, but I still loved him! You can’t just kill people for being bad!”, you sobbed uncontrollably, and Nat and Bucky hugged you and comforted you, while Bruce tried to take Loki’s vitals, just in case. He soon found out the truth.
“Uh… guys?”, he tried to say over the chaos that was reigning the compound, but Thor interrupted him by walking in and laughing.
“Come on, friends. Again?”, he asked while grabbing a box of Poptarts.
Everyone stared at him perplexed, as if asking are you not seeing your dead brother in here? Tony rushed to him and kneeled in front of him, pleading,
“Please, please forgive me, Thor. I’ve… I’ve killed Loki”.
Thor rolled his eyes and smirked, patting him on the shoulder a couple of times.
“You’re forgiven, Stark. You’re forgiven”, he said, and couldn’t avoid chuckling.
You changed your face as if pulling off a mask, and smiled with a pouty lip out, touching your heart.
“Aw, you’ve played along!”, you said, and everyone except Tony and Steve chuckled, realizing what happened. Loki got up from the floor and scoffed.
“We were doing so well, why did you break it?”.
“Sorry, I couldn’t help it. It was fun though”, you helped him up with your hand. “Thanks JARVIS”, you added. Bucky and Natasha clapped with a grin tattooed to their faces. You and Loki did a little reverence.
“What? Did you two just…?”, said Tony, more confused than angered.
“Ah, have they not done this in front of you already?” asked Thor. “They have this silly little tradition of doing some theatrical impression in front of people as a prank. Apparently they’ve managed to make JARVIS help, too”.
“Well, that would actually explain the weird clothing”, said Steve. Bucky and Natasha were still laughing, grabbing their stomachs, not being able to stop.
“You two are morons, you know that, right?”, sighed Tony, taking his suit off. “Scaring your weak-on-the-heart old man, I thought you’d do better”, he scolded at you sarcastically. “Anyway. Would you guys want to have chinese or pizza for dinner?”.
