Infatuated And Envious
Chapter 1: Lucid
Penelope
You're too busy dancing in the club to our songs
Turned up on my phone, changing your whole tone
Playing with my emotions, playing with my emotions
Playing with my emotions, playing with my emotions
You're too busy dancing in the club to our songs
Turned up on my pho-
"Earth to Penelope?"
"Oh-oh I'm so sorry. How can I help you sir." I embarrassedly respond standing up and pulling out my Bose wireless earbud.
"I said I would like to check out of my room. I said it about five damn times." The customer snaps at me.
Well that was rude but a bit deserved for not listening.
"I-I am so sorry about that sir, can I see your room key and ID." I stutter over my words.
The man whose ID read Oliver Miller tossed them both at me with a slight snarl. I look him in the eye before I pick them up and proceed to do my job.
The last place I want to be after a break up is at work. Especially a place where I constantly have to deal with rude guest.
"Mr Miller I see you are scheduled for check out tomorrow at noon, do you still want to proceed with the check out process?" I inquired.
Miller did not answer me but I took his nasty glare and his silence as a yes. Usually we offer a discounted rate since they checked out a day earlier then expected, but since he want to play game quite game so can I.
"Alright Mr Miller I have you checked out now I just need you to sign at the bottom for me please. Also you should expect your $200 dollar deposit to back on your card in about eight to ten business days." I say sliding a white sheet of paper and black ink pen his way.
"Yeah yeah what ever." He mumbles scribbling his name on the paper and snatching his ID off the counter.
He picked up his bag from the floor and exited the hotel lobby. I released the breath I did not know I was holding in and sat back down.
I check the time on my Apple Watch and it read 11:45am and I sighed loudly. I am scheduled here until 8pm and my break isn't until 2:30pm.
"Some one kill me know." I mutter to myself picking up my earbud to put back in my ear.
"Pen before you break the rules and put that earbud back in your ear can you step into my office for a sec?"Henry, my boss, spoke popping his head out from the back room.
"Who will watch the front?" I question.
"Don't worry about it this will only take a few minutes." He respond ushering me to the back.
I nervously rose from seat and came to the back where he was. There was two way glass so if a guest did walk in I could see. The back was colder than the front and the cardigan that I was wearing did not stand a chance against it. Henry always calls the back his office when in reality he does not have an office. Nothin back here could make it an office either, there isn't even a desk. He tried to put one back there but his supervisor told he had twenty-four hours to get rid of it.
"Penelope I sat here and watched you ignore that guest. I don't think you did it on purpose but that makes our hotel and our staff look bad. I also know that you are having a hard time in your personal life. But you can't bring that here. In the past three weeks you have been doing some not great things, and HR has found out. I really like you Penelope I really do but you have my hands tied right now." He states looking me directly in my eye.
My eyes began to burn and I knew I was about to be fired.
"HR wants me to fire you but I told them I can't do that. You are one of my best workers and if I was to lose you this shit hole would turn to a bigger shit hole." He began.
Oh so I'm not fired?
"So we came to the agreement that you will be suspended for two weeks without pay." He spoke looking down.
"Wait Henry I can't go two weeks without pay. I have bills and a baby, please." I plead feeling my eyes beginning to burn again.
"I can't help you this time Penelope. I would tell you to use you PTO and vacation time to make up for it but you used all of it. Just take this time to refocus so you can come back even stronger." Henry says with hope.
There was so much I wanted to say but I could not get it out. I am barely making ends meet as is it and they want me go two weeks without pay? How is that better than firing me? I rather they did that! How will I pay my rent in two weeks? I don't have enough money in my account to pay it. Hell my account is overdrawn right now so I can't buy shit.
I've worked here for two years being mistreated by guest and management, and this is how they want to treat me? I know I've made couple mistakes this pass month and for that they want to fire me? But they won't promote me for all the hard work I've done over the years. I had to beg them for a raise and I only make $15.
"You know what..I quit. I am the only loyal employee at the damn hotel. Without me this place will literally be nothin! So you know what that it. Mail me my last check and you all can go fuck yourselves!" I shout as I walk away from Henry and back to the front.
"Excuse me ma'am I would like to check." A elderly lady said from in front  the counter.
"Well that's too bad find someone who works here to help you, lady." I snarl at the women as I gather my thing.
"Penelope!" Henry scolds as he makes his way from the back to the front to help the women.
"Oh Peneople what Henry? Ma'am do you know that this hotel that you are trying to stay at just fired their long time employee for making two mistakes?" I ask looking her in the eye.
"Did you get fired or did you just quit because I did not fire you!" Henry shouts at me.
"Hell yeah I quit. Would you stay at job that just tried to suspend you for two weeks without pay for a few simple mistakes!?" I yell back at him.
He doesn't respond to me and begins to help the elderly women in front of us.
"Yeah that's what I thought. Fuck you and Fuck this raggedy nasty ass hotel" I snarl at him walking from around the counter with my things.
By now everyone was staring at me, and they weren't good stares. I looked back at Henry who could care less about me now. I turn back around and exited the hotel letting the old New York air hit my face.

Also for those wondering, I am a up and coming writer, an up and coming artist, I came from Twitter to extend and explore the places to learn about well… how the internet works. It sounds stupid sure, but hey, I don’t mind it
Also I make books, currently working on a semi-fan fiction novel series called ‘ The Trail Takers’, just wanted to test out to see if things could work for me being an author.
Might probably post it here but depends if things go okay

You can spend minutes, hours, days, weeks, or even months over-analyzing a situation; trying to put the pieces together, justifying what could've, would've happened… or you can just leave the pieces on the floor and move on.

Structuring Your Fight Scene
adapted from <Writer's Craft> by Rayne Hall
Suspense
Show your characters gearing up, readying themselves.
The pace is slow, the suspense is high (use suspense techniques)
Provide information about terrain, numbers, equipment, weapons, weather.
May have dialogue as the opponents taunt each other, hurl accusations, or make one final effort to avoid the slaughter.
Don't start too early - we don't need to see the hero getting out of bed, taking a shower and having tea.
2. Start
Fighters get into fight stance: knees slightly bent, one leg forward, abdominal muscles tensing, body turned diagonally, weapons at the ready.
Each side will usually try to be the first to strike, as this will give them advantage.
The movements in this section need to be specific and technically correct.
3. Action
This section may be quick or prolonged. If prolonged, no blow-by-blow descriptions are needed.
Focus on the overall direction of the fight
Make use of the location to make characters jump, leap, duck, hide, fall, etc.
Mention sounds of weapons
4. Surprise
Something unexpected happens: building catches fire, a downpour, relief force arrives, staircase collapses, bullet smashes into the only lightbulb and everything goes dark, hero losses his weapon, etc.
Add excitement, raise the stakes.
5. Climax
Both sides are tired and wounded
The hero is close to giving up, but is revived with passion
Move to the terrain's most dangerous spot: narrow swining rope-bridge, a roof-edge, sinking ship, etc.
Don't rush the climax! Hold the tension
6. Aftermath
The fight is over: bes buddies lying dead, bandaging, reverberating pain, etc.
Use sense of sight and smell
The hero may experience nausea, shaking, tearfulness or get sexually horny
Fight scene length
Historical/adventure/fantasy: 700-1000w
Romance: 400-700w

it's such an incredible feeling to find an author on ao3 and realise they've been writing fic for 15 years. never let anyone say that people age out of fandom.

Yall need to interact with fanfiction author's more.
So. After the ddos attack on ao3.
I was encouraged to write more comments and make my love known to fanfic writers.
I dont really like commenting. Because im a bit shy and soooo lazy.
Now though. I am writing more comments. And dude. This is so heartwarming. Ya'll need to treat writers better. They are doing the lord's work.
Take for an example, couple of days prior, i was searching for something interesting to read, and found an oneshot quite compelling.
I read it. At the end of it, i was blown away by how good it was. It promised me something and it went beyond my expectations. But then i saw a crime, zero fucking comments!
At that moment, i wasn't feeling up to writing a comment. Because, normally i like to write huge paragraphs. But because im lazy i decided to be brief.
Next day, the author answered that the comment lift their mood for the whole day.
That warmed my heart.
Duuuuuuuude! Write comments! Suport the writers of the fics you like! No need to be something super elaborate. Just give your thoughts. Freak out. Ramble. Ask something. Make theories. Compliment. Make a joke about how you wished to give kudos every chapter but ao3 sucks(not true bby) and won't let you.
Truly. Just. Comment. It can make someone's day. And that is part of the apeal of writing fics. Interacting with people.
Just give love to fanfic writers yall. They deserve this and so much more.

You are allowed to enjoy reading your own stories!
Every writer writes the story they want to tell, so don’t be afraid to read what you’re writing and just have fun. Not everything has to be in service of making your manuscript better.
It’s ok to enjoy yourself.

Long Time No Post?
So I finally posted the second chapter for Infatuated and Envious, lol. I had it sitting in my draft for almost a year chile. This year I want to be consistent with posting, but we will see. I was just on my wattpad account and forgot all about a book I was writing on there. I already wrote about ten chapters too. It was cool to go back and see a lot of story ideas I use to have. Some of them date back to 2014 when I was fifteen years old. It's crazy that I have been writing for ten years now, well coming up on ten years. It's even more crazy that I'll be 25 in June! WOW! I had a really crazy year last year and just want to get back to who I am. Which is an author. So possibly I'll post again here soon?

Storyediting Questions to Ask
As You Read the First Draft:
Are there place that surprised you as you read your first draft? - Why do you suppose that is? - Is there material there you'd like to expand?
What are the character really doing in this story? - Might they have issues you haven't explored fully yet?
Look to the places that drag. - These might be scenes where you have avoided dealing with something deeper. - What are the characters really thinking in these places? - What are their passions, frustrations, and desires?
Imagine alternative plotlines. - How might your plot be different if ti headed off on another tangent from various points in the story? - You don't have to follow them, but they might suggest other streams that can flow into the main plot.
Think About Structure:
Does you story play out naturally in three acts?
Is there an immediate disturbance to the Lead's world?
Does the first doorway of no return occur before the one-fifth mark?
Are the stakes being raised sufficiently?
Does the second doorway of no return put the Lead on the path to the climax?
Does the rhythm of the sotyr match your intent? If this is an action novel, does the plot move relentlessly forward? If this is a character-driven novel, do the scenes delve deeply enough?
Are there strongly motivated characters?
Have coincidence been established?
Is something happeing immediately at the beginning? Did you establish a person in a setting with a problem, onfronted with change or threat?
Is the timeline logical?
Is the story too predictable in terms of sequence? Should it be rearranged?
About Your Lead Character:
Is the character memorable? Compelling? Enough to carry a reader all the way through the plot?
A lead character has to jump off the page. Does yours?
Does this character avoid cliches? Is he capable of surprising us?
What's unique about the character?
Is the character's objective strong enough?
How does the character grow over the course of the story?
How does the character demonstrate inner strength?
About Your Opposition:
Is your oppositing character interesting?
Is he fully realized, not just a cardboard cutout?
Is he justified (at least in his own mind) in his actions?
Is he believable?
Is he strong as or stronger than the Lead?
About Your Story's Adhesive Nature:
Is the conflcit between the Lead and opposition crucial for both?
Why can't they just walk away? What holds them together?
About Your Scene:
Are the big scenes big enough? Surprising enough? Can you make them more original, unanticipated, and draw them out for all they are worth?
Is there enough conflict in the scenes?
What is the least memorable scene? Cut it!
What else can be cut in order to move the story relentlessly forward?
Does the climactic scene come too fast (through a writer fatigue)? Can you make it more, write it for all it's worth?
Does we need a new minor subplot to build up a saggin midsection?
About Your Minor Characters:
What is their purpose in the plot?
Are they unique and colorful?
Polishing Questions:
Are you hooking the reader from the beginning?
Are suspenseful scenes drawn out for the ultimate tension?
Can any information be delayed? This creates tension in the reader, always a good thing.
Are there enough surprises?
Are character-reaction scenes deep and interesting?
Read chapter ending for read-on prompts
Are there places you can replace describing how a character feels with actions?
Do I use visual, sensory-laden words?
For a Dialogue Read-Through:
Dialogue is almost always strengthened by cutting words within the lines.
In dialogue, be fair to both sides. Don't give one character all the good lines.
Greate dialogue surprises the reader and creates tension. View it like a game, where the players are trying to outfox each other.
Can you get more conflict into dialogue, even emong allies?
