I have this thing where I get older but just never wiser
You let loose a long breath and glanced hesitantly up to the tall, menacing building before you. The building of your childhood, if you could even call it that.
To be completely honest, you didn’t even know why you had come back. You hated your father and your siblings hated you, so why would you show up to the man’s funeral, when they would all be there?
As much as you wanted to turn back around and hail another cab to get you as far away from this place as possible, you put on a brave face and pushed the door open, stepping into the vast entryway.
Barely three small steps had been taken inside by you when you froze at the sound of your name being called.
“Y/n,” Allison had her lips parted slightly in shock from where she and Vanya stood at the end of the hall.
You swallowed thickly, “Hey, guys,” You greeted in a voice that was barely even audible to yourself. You toyed with the ends of your gloves nervously.
“Oh, um,” Allison cleared her throat and strode across the room to see you, stopping a healthy three feet away, “It’s so good to see you, Y/n.”
The words were forced, and you knew it, but you gave her a tight lipped smile and a nod anyway.
“Yeah, same here, Y/n!” Vanya called, and you knew in that moment that after everything, she must have been almost as uncomfortable with being here as you were.
If your original gut instinct wasn’t any indication before, then this interaction told you everything about how this visit would go.
The sight of Diego crossing to the staircase caught all of your attention and he snapped something about Vanya not being welcome back before his eyes snapped over to you.
“Y/n,” He spoke in an awkward greeting before skirting past the three of you and clambering up the stairs.
Not only did your siblings hate you, but you just got confirmation that they were also still scared of you. After all these years, when they had grown up beside you and learned how to deal with your ‘gift’, and yet, they were still wary of what you could and possibly would do.
Midnights become my afternoons
You sat on the windowsill in the attic, legs dangling out the window as you looked up at the moon and stars.
“I figured that I would find you up here, Miss. Y/n.” You heard a voice sound behind you.
Unconsciously, you smiled and turned around, “Pogo,” You greeted kindly.
His smile was something that hadn’t changed a bit over the years, “It is so good to see you.” He said genuinely, walking over until he could grasp your gloved hand and squeeze it gently.
He had always been the only one who wasn’t afraid of you. Of what touching you could do to them. Of how painful their deaths would be if they laid a single finger on your bare skin. How without meaning to, you would slowly and excruciatingly kill them.
That’s why you wore gloves and long sleeves at all times, so that no one would unintentionally be hurt by you.
“It’s late,” You hummed when you pulled away, “What are you doing up?”
“Why, I came up here to ask you the same question.” He mused.
You shrugged nonchalantly, leaning your back against the wall, “I don’t usually go to sleep until really early in the morning.” You informed him.
“Well, that can’t be healthy.”
You laughed loudly, the first time you’d done so in what felt like many months, “It’s probably not.” You agreed once you sobered up.
Too busy looking back out the window, you failed to notice Pogo glance behind him and give a hidden figure a single nod of reassurance.
The only thing that brought your attention back to him was once he gave you a slight pat on your clothed knee, “I am always available if you wish to speak about anything.”
You smiled genuinely, “Thank you, Pogo.”
“Hey, n/n.”
Your head snapped up at the sound of a new voice that spoke as soon as Pogo had left.
“Diego,” You breathed out.
“Listen,” He cleared his throat awkwardly as he shuffled into view, coming to a stop right in front of you- less than a healthy distance away, “I’m sorry about earlier. I just didn’t think you were actually gonna show.”
You smiled tightly, pulling your knees up to your chest, “Yeah, that makes two of us.”
He sighed, dropping down into a crouch before you and looking up into your eyes, “I know none of us left off on a good foot- especially with you- but I want you to know that I’m sorry. For everything.”
Your chest tightened at his words. After all these years of thinking every last one of your siblings despised you for who you were- what you could do- you never thought one of your brothers would be telling you that he didn’t actually hate you at all.
“T-thank you, Diego.” You choked out, eyes filling with tears, “That means a lot.”
When my depression works the graveyard shift
Your eyebrows furrowed as you took tentative steps towards your fathers old office, the one that was supposed to be vacant now that he was dead.
The clattering of objects only got louder the closer you got, and it was making you nervous. Perhaps someone had broken in when they heard that the billionaire was dead? The last thing you wanted was to have to resort to using your powers, because you doubted any of your other siblings would come to your aid. Expect of course, maybe Diego.
“Hello?” You called out slowly when you stepped into the room. At the sound of your voice, a head popped up from behind your fathers old desk with a wide grin, and you couldn’t help but relax slightly, “Klaus.” You breathed out.
“N/n!” Your brother squealed, jumping up the rest of the way and scrambling over to you with outstretched arms.
Alarmed, you took a sudden step back, and he stopped short when he noticed.
“Oh!” He giggled, placing a hand near his mouth, “I forgot about the whole no touchie thing!”
“What are you doing in here?” Your eyes shone in curiosity, pushing down the thoughts that threatened to swarm your mind about Klaus’s first instinct being to hug you.
“You know,” He waved a dismissive hand, “Just getting ahead on my inheritance.”
Despite yourself, your lips twitched upward slightly at the words, “Really?” You asked in slight amusement.
The man’s jaw dropped open and he stared at you with wide eyes, “Was-was that a smile I just saw? Gosh, my memories from when we were kids consisted of you being completely stone-face.” He let out a shrill giggle again, “Though, I suppose I’m now the one that’s stoned!”
Whatever form of a smile had adorned your face immediately fell and you crossed your arms tightly over your stomach.
All of the people I've ghosted stand there in the room
This was terrible.
The silence was painful to sit through. You must have looked like you had an itch with the way you were shifting back and forth on the couch you stiffly sat on beside Vanya.
Nobody was making eye contact with one another, it was just all of you- once siblings, now complete strangers- sitting in a tense circle in your childhood living room.
Finally, Luther cleared his throat and pushed himself off of the couch that was directly across from you, “So, I guess we should get started.” Everyone’s eyes snapped over to the man that had grown more than a little bit over time, “So, I figured we could have a sort of memorial service in the courtyard at sundown. Say a few words, just at Dad's favorite spot.” He spoke awkwardly.
“Dad had a favorite spot?” Allison’s eyebrows had shot up alongside yours in surprise.
Luther’s own eyebrows furrowed, “You know, under the oak tree. We used to sit out there all the time.” He looked around for anyone to agree with him, only to be met with bewildered looks, “None of you ever did that?”
You shook your head softly, looking down at your hands that fiddled with one another from where they rested in your lap.
Klaus strolled over and began talking loudly, and you sat back and watched silently as everyone went back and forth a little bit.
“Listen up,” Luther tried to reign the family in once more when they got off track, “Still some important things that we need to discuss, all right?”
“Like what?” Diego asked with a roll of his eyes from where he was leaning against a pillar near the fireplace.
“Like the way he died.”
Your eyes widened and your mouth dropped open a little as you looked at him, everyone else adorning similar looks.
“I don't understand. I thought they said it was a heart attack.” Vanya piped up in confusion.
“Yeah, according to the coroner.”
“Well, wouldn't they know?”
“Theoretically.” It was clear that Luther was beginning to realize that he had made a mistake by bringing this all up.
“Theoretically?” It was the first time you had spoken up, and you felt a couple of the others glance at you as you did so.
Yet again, your siblings began to bicker back and forth, and you sank lower into the couch cushions, not at all liking the way their voices raised more and more by the minute.
“Oh, isn't it obvious, Klaus? He thinks one of us killed Dad.” Diego’s voice snapped you harshly back to the present and a dangerous silence overcame the entire room again.
You looked up at Luther in disturbance, only to find him already staring down at you. And all at once, you felt your mouth go dry and your throat begin to close up slightly, “You don’t actually think-“
All around you, your siblings caught onto what Luther was really indicating and they adopted looks of shock. Diego let out a low whistle, “That’s messed up, man.”
“Look,” Number one stressed, “I’m just saying, according to the corner, there was nothing wrong with him. With your powers- you could painfully kill a person without showing a mark.”
You hadn’t even realized when you had stood up, but flinched back violently, as if struck, “You think I would kill him?” You whispered with tears forming in your eyes against your will.
Allison pursed her lips and averted her gaze when you desperately looked around for help, making you realize that she was uncertain as well.
“Wow,” You breathed out tearfully, shaking your head back and forth softly before shuffling out of the room.
“Y/n, wait-“
“Good job, Luther.” Diego scoffed and hit his shoulder against his brothers as he trailed after you, “Way to lead.”
I should not be left to my own devices
Somehow, not too long after leaving the living room, you ended up in the courtyard surrounded by your sibling, gazing up with wide eyes at something floating in the sky.
“What is it?”
“Don’t get too close!” Allison called, moving to place her arm in front of you and Vanya, who had your mouths dropped open and took unconscious steps forward.
“Yeah, no shit!” Diego yelled back over the wind, eyes glared against the harsh wind whipping straight at all of you.
Per usual, everyone kept shouting back and forth at one another about what to do, and in doing so, Allison dropped her arm and you were able to slowly creep forward.
Just then, someone fell out of the thing in the sky, landing in a heap right in front of your feet, but everyone was too busy glaring at each other to notice.
“Guys…” You called back cautiously, “Does anyone else see little Number Five, or is that just me?”
They come with prices and vices
You sat on the stairs with your head in your hands, still trying to wrap your mind around everything.
At the beginning of the day, you had come back home expecting to say your goodbyes and possibly even make peace with your father. But now, your long lost brother is back, and not only that, but he claims to have been way older than any of you, whilst being stuck in the body of his thirteen year old self.
“Hey, n/n,” Said brother greeted, strolling over to where you sat with one hand in his pocket and the other holding a sandwich.
You linked your fingers behind your head and tried to smile at him, but you had no doubt that it came out as a grimace, “Five.” You greeted.
Before his disappearance, Five had been the only one who truly was never afraid of you. Even if Diego claimed not to be now, you knew he was still slightly wary, and with good reason too.
“I take it things didn’t go well after I left?” He asked, plopping down onto the stairs beside you.
A small chuckle left your lips at his bluntness. Same old Five.
“No,” You agreed, “They never stopped being scared of me. And I never stopped being scared of myself.” You admitted.
He had always been the only one you could tell everything to about yourself without the fear of judgment.
The two of you fell into a silence that consisted of him munching on his sandwich thoughtfully, “You know,” Five spoke up once he had polished it off, “I think the others have always been more intimidated by you than anything.”
Your eyebrows went up, “How so?” You never really saw yourself as an intimidating individual.
“Because you’re so much more powerful than we all are… and the old man knew that.” He stood up and gave you a tight lipped smile, patting you once on your clothed shoulder and disappearing up the stairs, leaving you to dwell in your thoughts.
I end up in crisis (tale as old as time)
Allison placed a finger over her mouth to signal for you and Vanya to stay silent from where your backs were pressed up against a wall opposite of her.
A large figure in a mask came creeping through the door that you stood on either side of with a large gun resting in his grip, making your heart tighten.
Right on cue, your sister lunged out, kneeing him in the stomach and punching him in the face the second he doubled over in pain.
Quickly, you ushered Vanya out of the room and made sure she was a safe distance away before spinning on your heel to face Allison and the man, the two now throwing punches at one another with the gun discarded to the side.
Without hesitation, you dove at the man and jumped onto his back, throwing him off balance and sending him to the ground.
When he fell, Allison reeled her foot back and sent it straight into his head, effectively knocking him out cold.
For a moment, the two of you just stood there, panting and trying to catch your breaths.
“You know, Y/n,” She spoke up, surprising you, “I don’t actually think you killed dad. I would never think that of you. I was just in shock that Luther would say such a thing that I didn’t know how to react. A-and I’m sorry for not saying anything when he accused you and I know I should have-“
“Allison.” You cut her off gently, “It’s okay.”
She visibly relaxed as if a weight had been taken off of her shoulders, “And listen, I know you think we all hate you,” She took a step forward and slowly placed a hand on your shoulder, eyes searching yours for any sign that you were uncomfortable with the close proximity. “But we don’t, I promise you we don’t. You were just always isolated from us by dad- and I’m not saying it isn’t partially our fault- because it is, but we’re not kids anymore so there’s no excuse for how we acted. I’m sorry.”
First Diego with the apologies, Klaus acting like everything was normal, and then Allison. You couldn’t believe that your siblings were actually trying to make up with you.
Similarly to how when your brother first talked to you like this, tears began to form in your eyes and you smiled up at her, “T-thank you, Allison. That- that means a lot.”
She shook her head gently, “I’m just sorry that it took so long for me to be able to say it.”
I wake up screaming from dreaming
You gasped, shooting upright with heavy pants as you tried to regain your breathing and keep it under control.
You have been through this routine enough times to know what to do so well that it’s almost like second nature to you at this point.
“Y-Y/n?”
Your head snapped up at the sound of Vanya's voice. She stood in the slightly opened doorway of your childhood room, where you had just been sleeping.
“Vanya,” You breathed out, leaning your back against your headboard, “What’s up?” You swallowed thickly and tried to seem as normal as possible.
The woman hesitated, “I… I left something here so I came back for it but I heard a scream…”
You let a breath loose and allowed your head to fall back, “Sorry,” You apologized in a whisper.
She shook her head back and forth vigorously, “No, no, it’s not your fault. I get it… I get nightmares too…”
You lulled your head to the side and looked at her, “Yeah?”
She nodded, hesitantly shuffling into the room before slowly sitting down on the end of your bed when you moved your feet for her.
“Do you wanna talk about it?” She asked gently.
It was then your turn to shake your head, “No, no, it’s nothing I can’t handle- nothing I’m not used to.” You reassured.
“Well… I’m here if you ever need anything.”
You smiled softly, “Thank you, Vanya.”
One day I'll watch as you're leaving
“Five?” You looked up from your plate filled to the brim with breakfast foods your mother had cooked for you as you watched your brother swiftly walk by, “What’s going on?”
“I need to run an errand.” He answered curtly, “I’ll be back soon.”
Anxiety began to set in the pit of your stomach, “O-oh, do you want me to come with you?”
He quickly shook his head back and forth, “There’s no need, it could be dangerous.”
That made the fear double inside of you, “Are you sure you have to go?” You saw him freeze in his steps when he heard the worry seeping through your tone.
He sighed softly and turned around to face you, “It’ll be fine, I’ll be back soon. I promise.”
You gnawed on your bottom lip, “It’s just… you didn’t come back once. What’s to say it won’t happen again?”
“Me.” He reassured you, “I say that it won’t happen again. I won’t let it. I promise.”
With that, he gave you one last of his rare smiles and continued out of the kitchen.
'Cause you got tired of my scheming (For the last time)
“Oh, sorry,” You mumbled, eyes immediately turning downwards the second you entered the living room, “I didn’t realize anyone was in here-“
“Y/n.” Luther immediately shot up from where he had been sitting on the couch, “No, I’m glad you’re here.” Your quick steps to exit the room paused, “We should talk.” He cleared his throat.
You eyed him hesitantly, “About what?”
“I’m sorry for saying that you killed dad!” He blurted out, cheeks turning red as he spoke, “It’s- it’s just that I was so upset and I didn’t know what really happened so I was creating scenarios that I didn’t even want to come true and-“ He stopped himself and took a deep breath to calm down, “And I know that it’s not an excuse, but I’m still very sorry for saying that you would ever be capable of something like that.”
You stayed silent for a moment before slowly nodding your head, “It’s okay,” You said softly, “I forgive you.”
“Really?” He sighed in relief, “Good, because I was scared for a moment there because I was acting like such an ass and-“
“Luther.” You tried to push away the small smile that threatened to grace your face, “I already said it’s fine, just leave it.”
It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me
“We’re like outcast buddies!”
You looked over at Klaus with a raised eyebrow at his words.
The two of you sat on the stools near the bar in your living room, sipping on some concoction of alcohol that was no doubt older than both of you combined and would have given your father a heart attack at seeing if he was still alive.
“I’m pretty sure all of our siblings are outcasts.” You reminded him.
He sat there, pondering your words for a moment before signing and swirling his straw in his drink, “No, no, I suppose you’re right.” He frowned a little bit and slumped his shoulders slightly.
“Do you… want to be outcast buddies?” You asked hesitantly, eyeing your brother.
Immediately, he perked up with a large grin, “Yes! Yes! Yes!” He shrieked, “We can start a club! We can print t-shirts! We can invite new members-“
You chuckled, sitting back and watching in amusement as your brother got excited over seemingly nothing.
At tea time, everybody agrees
“Thanks for the food, mom, it looks delicious.” You said sincerely.
The woman smiled softly and reached over to cup your cheek, and you immediately leaned further into the touch. Because she wasn’t actually human, she could touch you without consequence. And though you knew it wasn’t the same as if another person touched you, you still took what you could get because it was all that you would get, even if it wasn’t real.
“Of course, sweetie.” She answered with that wide, kind smile of hers gently removing her hand after a moment and leaning down to place a ghost kiss on your forehead, making your eyelids flutter shut.
I'll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror
“It’s really weird to look at, isn’t it?” Five asked, walking up and standing beside you, gazing up at the wall.
It was a portrait of you and all your siblings, before Fives disappearance and Ben’s death, hanging in some random of the many hallways of the home.
“It is.” You agreed with a sigh, eyes taking it all in.
The way Five was the only one standing even remotely close to you in the painting didn’t escape your attention. Nor did the way everyone but him seemed to have their bodies angled away from you just slightly.
You forced yourself to tear your eyes away and you cleared your throat, “Do you ever wonder what it would be like if we never had these powers?” You asked suddenly.
It had been a thought that had been eating away at you since you were at least seven, never having been voiced out loud by you.
“I try not to dwell on it,” Your brother admitted, “‘Cause there’s nothing we can do to change it.”
Despite his words, you allowed yourself, just for a moment, to picture what it would be like. To be able to hug people and shake hands without them having to worry for their life. To not be the scariest, most deadly person in any room you stood in.
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero
All around you, walls were crumbling down and falling every which way. Each small piece of flying debris threatening to hit you.
Not so gracefully, you stumbled through the shaking building, blindly grasping onto the walls for support as you watched in horror as the house came apart all around you for reasons unknown to you.
“Y/n!” You whipped around at the sound of Luther, Allison, and Diego each calling your name and you began sprinting in their direction at the opposite end of the hall.
They each took a large step back when you neared though, causing you to pause, despite the fact that you needed to push on so that you didn’t get hit.
“What is it? What’s happening to-“ You began asking anxiously
“What did you do?” Luther’s words and tone of horror made the rest of your sentence die in your throat.
“How could you do something like this?” Allison whispered, and despite all the chaos, you somehow were still able to hear her. Her eyes shone with betrayal.
“What?” Your eyebrows furrowed, “What are you talking about?”
“Dad always said that you only reached the tip of the iceberg with your powers.” Diego was glaring at you coldly in a way that made even your heart freeze, “But I never thought you could be capable of something like this.”
“What-“
“Your powers are to destroy.” Luther hissed venomously, “You can kill everything around you, so why can’t you demolish everything in your path as well with just the touch of your bare fingers?”
Your lungs felt like they were collapsing in on themselves, much like the walls around you, “I would never- I can’t even-“
“I can't believe we trusted you.” Allison shook her head and slowly began backing away once more, “We’ll never make that mistake again.”
The other two trailed after her once they threw more harsh glares your way, not even caring as you sank down to your knees in shock, oblivious to the house that was still caving in on itself all around you.
You had nothing to do with this, you had no idea what was happening. How could they think that you did? After everything, all the progress you all made?
Your suspicions that you had first stepped into this house what felt like years ago- when it had only, in reality, been days- were true.
Your siblings truly did hate you.

Klaus Hargreeves x Sister!Reader
Summary; Most people hate their siblings. This is not the case for two of the Hargreeves. A big brother, his baby sister, and a whole load of chaos.
CW: cringy tries at inserting lyrics, swearing, a bit angsty, mention of drugs, bad writing ig, not proofread
WC: 1908
Tumblr media
On an early Saturday morning, the Hargreeves' children were awoken by Pogo. They were all fourteen at this point and were used to being awoken early in the morning to do training. They reached for their training gear, but Pogo stopped them.
"Ah, actually, today your father needs to discuss and announce something, so training is delayed for the hour" All the Hargreeves children were confused, but dressed themselves and lined up in the living area. Their father came into the room and, to their surprise, was holding a small infant. They gasped in surprise, staring at the child. "Children, this is number 8. They, like you, have powers. They have the ability of water manipulation, and I will be raising them alongside you."
They all stared at the child, taking in their features and their peaceful expression. Klaus stared at them; he felt a strange connection to this kid. Reginald placed the child into a bassinet and left the room, and ordered the siblings to get back to training. They all wanted to stay for a moment and process what was going on, but Grace shooed them out of the room. Klaus stepped outside so his mother would get off his back but went back into the living area once she'd left. With shaking hands, he reached for the baby. He gently picked up the child, and her eyes fluttered open and stared at Klaus. Her expression changed to one of confusion, and Klaus panicked, thinking she would begin to cry. Much to Klaus' surprise, the baby began to giggle. At that moment, Klaus just knew he'd have a special bond with that little girl.

*4 Years Later*
Klaus really did love her. He did. But not even his love for her could make him stand the thought of spending a second longer in that house with his cruel father. He felt terrible. Most of the Hargreeves' children had left home already, moving out and pursuing a new life. Klaus had held off on this for a while, wanting to stay for (Y/N). But he just couldn't take it anymore. He wanted to stay and protect her, she still had at least twelve more years here, and God knows what their father would do with her once none of her siblings could defend her. After the fight Klaus had with his father, though, he couldn't stand the thought of staying in that house anymore. He felt horrible, he couldn't leave without a goodbye, but you were nowhere to be found at that point, likely somewhere with Grace. He sighed, collecting a few of his things that he didn't mind leaving in your possession. He grabbed a photo of the two of you from his nightstand. The photograph captured one of you and Klaus' many good memories. In the photo, you were on Klaus' bed. Klaus was tickling you, and you were laying on the bed, shrieking, giggling, and kicking. You had a bright grin, and Klaus was looking up at you with pure adoration in his eyes. He felt tears swell in his eyes, reminiscing on that precious moment, but he blinked them away. He grabbed your favourite glittery gel pen and began to write on the back of the photo.
Dear (Y/N/N), I'm sorry, but I have to go. You need to know that I still love you, though. You're the most amazing little sister in the world, and I'm gonna miss you. I'm sorry for leaving you but I can't stay any longer. I'll see you soon, sunshine. I'm gonna miss you so much.
- Klausy"
He felt horrible for leaving the poor girl behind; she was so small and vulnerable. He'd come back for her someday. He put his things into a pile and left the photo and note on her bed. A tear rolled down his cheek as he went to leave your room. Just before he left, he grabbed one of your stuffed animals. You and Klaus always played with it when you were little. He shoved into his bag and walked out of your room. He shut the door, climbed out his window, and didn't return to the Hargreeves' mansion for years.

*12 years later*
You were 16 by now. It had been a long time since you'd seen any of your siblings, and you missed them dearly. You hadn't seen or heard from Klaus since he left that note on your bed. It broke your heart when he left, he was your best friend. You still had all your brothers belongings that he left in your room and kept whatever he left in his bedroom. You were 4 when he left and had grown a ton since he had left. It had been 4 years since you had seen any of your siblings. The last one of your siblings you saw was Luther before he went to the moon, even then, he didn't ever talk to you much. You liked watching the news or movies to see your sister, Allison, or your brother, Viktor, or even your other brother, Diego. Your father had recently passed away, and you were devastated. He was a cruel, cruel man, but he was still your father. However, this meant a funeral would be held.
You prayed that Klaus would come to it, wanting nothing more than to see your favourite brother again. It was finally the day of the funeral. You changed into your black dress, with tights and your black converse. You got dressed and applied your makeup before heading downstairs. There was a knock on the door, and you ran down the stairs to answer it. Your eyes blew wide to see it was Klaus. You went to leap on him, but he stopped you. His eyes were bloodshot, and he seemed out of it. You quickly realised that he was on drugs and likely didn't recognise you, considering how much you had grown up since he last saw you.
"Klausy?" You said quietly, in shock. He stared at you, perplexed, until he remembered that nickname. "Oh (Y/N/N)!" He shrieked and hugged you tightly. "Oh, how I missed you, sunshine!" You smiled happily and hugged your brother back tightly. It was weird to see him now, he looked so different. But it had been 12 years of no contact, and you also looked drastically different, so you couldn't say much.
☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆
*a few hours later*
You had spent your last few hours greeting your other siblings and doing other random things but spent the majority of it bonding with Klaus. He was amazed at how grown up you now were and felt a pang of guilt, knowing he missed all of your childhood. You both went over what you had been up to for those past few years and Klaus listened intently to every word you said.
It was nearly time for the funeral when you heard something outside. Everyone rushed outside, and you saw something that looked like a bright blue portal. You stared in confusion, hidden behind your brothers. Much to your surprise, a boy (who looked a couple years younger than you) fell from the portal. All your siblings seemed shocked to see him, as if they knew him, but didn't expect him to be there. He looked somewhat familiar, but you couldn't put your finger on it.
"Does anyone else see little number Five? Or is that just me..?" Klaus said, unsure if the drugs were causing him to see things.
The boy looked around, staring at the faces of his siblings. "Shit."
☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆
You had now properly introduced yourself to Five and realised where you recognised him from. He was in the painting over the mantel. He knew of your existence from Viktor's book but was somewhat glad to formally meet you. It was now time for the funeral... it didn't exactly go down well. Diego made some ballsy remark, and it all kicked off. Him and Luther began to shove each other. You watched, eyes blown wide. You were stood with Klaus underneath his pink umbrella. Klaus watched as they fought, pushing you behind him and putting his arm out in front of you. Your breath hitched, you were scared at the sight. Klaus encouraged the fight until he saw your reaction. He covered your eyes, "Oh cmon, not in front of the kid!" As the words fell from his mouth, they crashed into Ben's statue. You heard the crash and Allison bluntly say 'Well, there goes Ben's statue.' Klaus did enjoy watching fights but wanted you away from the scene.
You sat down on the sofa, shaken by the scene. You knew Diego was violent and ballsy but you never expected him to do such things. You were staring into space, paying no attention to your surroundings until you felt the sofa dip beside you. You turned your head to see Klaus. "Hey sunshine, so much for a funeral, huh?" He laughed breathily, taking a puff of his cigarette. You looked down, Klaus noticing your dejected state. He put an arm around her. "Cmon, sunshine, no need to get down about it, they're just moody old men. They'll be fine." You smiled softly up at your brother and he grinned at you.
"There's that smile, huh." He said, attempting to make your smile even wider by tickling you. You began to shriek and giggle as he poked at your ribs. He laughed softly, remembering the picture he had left on your bed all those years ago. The memory was bittersweet, he loved it but couldn't help but associate it with abandoning you all.those years ago. He vowed to never leave you like that ever again.

*dallas, texas, 1963*
It had been a while since you ended up in Dallas, after going through that portal. Luckily for you, you landed with your big sister, Allison. She took you under her wing, allowing you to live with her. She told Ray that you were 16 and just looked a bit old for your age and that she had you when she was in her teens. Ray loved her and believed it, he accepted you as his own daughter. But nothing made you stop missing your big brother. Allison sent you to school in order to not arouse suspicion. You weren't the biggest fan, but it helped you to keep your cover. One day, you'd had a pretty shitty day and stormed into the house. You hoped to collapse onto the sofa and just lay there. As you slammed the front door you heard a man's voice as well as Allison's. You peeked into the living room, seeing Klaus. "Klaus?!" He looked up at you, "Oh, sunshine! Just the girl I wanted to see!" He leapt up from the sofa, taking you into his embrace. Allison smiled, opting to leave you two to have a moment. He pulled away, wanting to see how much you'd grown since you last saw each other but noticed your tear-stained cheeks and red eyes. "Whoa, whoa, woah, what happened to you sunshine?"
"N-nothing, it's fine." You sniffled, averting your gaze to the floor. "Talk to me, what's going on?" With this, your eyes teared up again, and you broke down crying, explaining what had happened. Klaus held you, stroking your hair and consoling you. "It's gonna be okay sunshine, you should know I'll be there for you." You smiled up at him weakly, and he dried one of your tears. "If we have each other, we'll both be fine." He said with a soft smile.

Maybe five hargreeves and reader? ❤️ W/ “I was looking for you”
A/N: Set during the wedding episode, somewhere in between the speeches and the dancing and the drunkenness and the end of the world.
(Reader is the same as in my other TUA fics—she’s Reginald’s biological daughter, born thirteen or so years after the others).
Tumblr media
“I was looking for you,” Five said with an air of success as he walked slowly down the hallway, a bottle of champagne in one hand and his blazer in the other. He wasn’t drunk yet, but he was well on his way towards it. Alas, as always, matters concerning his youngest sister came before the alcohol.
You turned your head from where it had been facing the ceiling. You were lying on the floor of the hallway, just far enough from the wedding party to successfully drown out the noise.
“Why?” you asked. Five stopped by your legs and shrugged. He glanced around before lowering himself to lie beside you, carefully placing the bottle next to him so it couldn’t get knocked over.
“You’re not one to miss a family celebration,” he said as he laced his fingers on his stomach. He moved to glance at you, missing your gaze by a second as you turned back to the ceiling. You were chewing at your bottom lip in a way that confirmed to Five what he had considered as the reason for you slipping out of the party before it had barely started. You’d been there one minute and gone the next, a hardly noticeable fact to someone who didn’t customarily scan the room every so often, just to ensure that everyone who should be present was present. Of course, Five was the possessor of such customary scans. He’d gone looking for you the moment he’d noted your absence, not at all oblivious to your emotions in the past few days. The whole family were aware, and Five was pretty certain that anyone would be better than him in this situation, but they’d been busy, and the alcohol was surging his confidence in his brotherly attributes already.
“Not much to celebrate.” Your mumbling permeated his thoughts, and he blinked himself back to reality. A loud burst of laughter seemed to echo down the hallway and you shut your eyes, letting your chest heave with a deep, totally needed breath. Five silently watched as you did so.
“Yeah,” he said after a moment, “you’re not wrong. Still, shouldn’t hold ourselves back in spite of that, right? Luther’s married now. I’d rather celebrate than...” He scrunched his nose in consideration. “Incinerate.”
Your gaze snapped to your brother, your face a picture of hardly concealed horror that had Five wincing. He sucked in a deep breath and ran quickly over possible words of consolidation in his head. He wasn’t tipsy enough for this.
“Am I the only one here who’s absolutely shitting myself?” You sat up and crossed your legs in front of you. “You’d think after the first and second apocalypse I’d get used to the idea of the world ending and me dying, but this time it’s—it’s so much realer. We’re actually gonna die.”
Despite Five’s faint victory at having you spill your usually carefully concealed emotions quicker than he knew was normal, he found that concern far prioritised it. Slowly, he pushed himself up, leaning back on his elbows. His brows knit together in swift sobriety as he dipped his head in acknowledgement. “Y/N...”
You tossed your hands up, your eyes suddenly welling with tears. “I’m not wrong, Five!” You pointed down the hallway. “They can sing and dance and—and kiss and make cheesy speeches all they want, but the fact of the matter is we’re all going to die. And I know they know that, and I know this party is a way to be together and distract ourselves from what’s coming, but it doesn’t always just work like that! I can’t—dispel it outta my mind. Whatever I do, whoever I’m with, it’s there. Reminding me over and over again that these are my last few breaths.” You squeezed your eyes shut and brought your hands to cover them. “I’m not one of you,” you said. “I don’t have powers. I’m just...normal. I’m a normal person surrounded by very much not normal people, and I really do feel like I’m the only one here who’s fucking terrified.”
If you were in the thinking mood, you would have pegged your brother’s face as unusually sympathetic once you’d opened your eyes and cleared your hazy vision. It wasn’t a secret to the family that Five had been away far too long to know how to comfort the youngest of you. If Diego were in his place, he’d sit opposite you and drill into you exactly everything you needed to hear, with his hands on your shoulders to ensure you looked him in the eye and couldn’t escape. Luther would cosy up beside you and try to distract you in his ridiculous, yet favourable, ways. Klaus usually made you meditate when he could sense you weren’t happy, then he grabbed you up in a bear hug and spoke a load of nonsense until you laughed. Allison was your usual go-to, your connection likely a result of growing up without a mother, while Viktor, though not entirely adept at consolation, had a way of soothing you with his hesitant words of supposed wisdom.
Five didn’t have the harshness of Diego, the humour of Luther, the stupidity of Klaus, the motherly nature of Allison, or the softness of Viktor. Put together, it created the exact combination you often needed. Five had to fit in there somewhere. He loved his siblings and you were obviously the most accepting of what little affection he sometimes provided, but the years he’d been away had been the entirety of your life before. He hadn’t been there then, but he was here now, and if there was one thing he had to offer, it was life experience.
“Would it help if I told you I’m just as terrified?“ he asked slowly. When you lowered your hands to look at him, he bumped his brows in silent repetition of the question.
Your shoulders dropped as you let out a breath. You sniffed and wiped at your cheek. “Yes, actually,” you admitted.
“Well—” Five lay back again, reaching his arms above his head— “I am. We all are, I assure you. I’ve experienced many doomsdays, Y/N, and it never gets easier.” He offered a smirk in your direction. “If you can believe that.”
You smiled lightly and pulled your knees up to your chest as he continued.
“You’re right that this is different. You’re right that we haven’t got long, and you’re right that this wedding stuff is just a distraction. But what’s wrong with a distraction?”
“It’s not the distraction, it’s…” You faltered, biting your tongue and dropping your gaze in obvious reluctance. Somehow, saying the words felt as though it would fuel the harshness of your reality.
“I know, I know,” Five said. “It’s the reason for the distraction.” He sighed, his eyes hardening as he looked at you. “I don’t know what to say that’ll make this any easier. For once, I can’t do anything that I haven’t tried. And I’m sorry. For your sake, I’m so sorry. Because you don’t deserve this. You don’t deserve us as siblings or Reginald as your father. What you do deserve is a good shot at life, and you’re not going to get that. So if this celebration is for anyone, it’s for you, and nobody in there would disagree with me.” He turned his head down the corridor, the beats of the music reverberating around you. He could hear Luther yelling something, probably butchered lyrics, and then there was a clash. In an attempt not to come up with all kinds of scenarios as to what that could have been, he turned back to you. You looked far more deflated but far less terrified. Five couldn’t tell if that was good or not. Still, he softened his expression and reached a hand out to squeeze your knee. “There’s not much we can do now,” he said gently, “other than try to make the best of what we have left and…remember everything good before.”
You sniffed and nodded slowly. You picked at a loose thread on the jeans you’d been wearing since arriving at the hotel. “There’s quite a lot of good to remember,” you murmured. Five’s lips quirked up in a half-hearted smile.
"Enough to tide you over until the end, you think?”
“Do you think it’ll hurt?”
He let his cheeks fill with air at that question before he exhaled. The truth was that he had no idea. It had never gotten to that point in all the other apocalypses. But sometimes, lying is the best thing you can do for someone in a situation. Often, the recipient of that lie knows the percentage of truth to it.
“Nah,” he said, waving it off with a flick of his wrist. “It’ll be like falling asleep, just with less control.” He hesitated then, staring at a stain on the ceiling. Perhaps his next words were subconscious, said without much thought. And perhaps they were as much a reassurance for him as they were for you. “I think that whatever happens, we’ll all be together.”
You allowed a short silence, settling with the new facts, then breathed a short laugh through your nose. “You’re drunk,” you said.
Five narrowed his eyes and whipped them to lock with yours. What a way to ruin a heartfelt conversation. Especially one that wasn’t particularly easy for him to partake him.
“You’d know if I was drunk,” he stated honestly. “Trust me, this is all coming from here.” He tapped his head. After a moment’s pause, he pointed at his heart. “And a bit from here, I guess.” Before your smile could widen any further, he heaved himself up into a sitting position and picked up his champagne bottle. “That’s not to say I won’t be getting drunk. You want some?”
“Legal drinking age is twenty-one.”
Five grimaced, his entire body recoiling at your comment. “I’m...gonna pretend you didn’t just say that.” At your shrug, he tipped his head slightly to the side, pressed his lips together in a thin line, and gave you a dead stare. “It’s the end of time, little sister. Have a drink.”
You took the extended bottle with an amused roll of your eyes and circled your finger around the top. “Thank you, Five.”
“Hey, I’m not bowing down to goodbye speeches, but if I’m gonna say one thing, it’s thank you. I’ve done a lot of bad stuff in my life…seen a lot of crap, lived through of a lot of ‘the ends’…but you, Y/N, are a gentle ripple in an ocean of pernicious waves. Always have been, always will be. Wherever we end up after this.”
There were moments when Five acted less like the imperious, sarcastic old man he was, and more like the brother you often wished for and imagined. You’d been a baby when he’d disappeared, so this Five was the only Five you knew, but your siblings often talked about the Five before. Moments like these, not that there were many, brought you close to what knowing that Five might have felt like.
“Heyyy! What’re we doing?” Klaus’s voice, followed by the slam of a door, echoed down the hallway, interrupting any response you may have given. You and Five turned towards it, him grabbing his bottle back and taking a long swig at the sight of your eccentric brother, very obviously already drunk, strutting towards you.
“Five’s drunk,” you told him, your voice airy in a way that told Five you were happier in yourself after your conversation.
He made a noise as the top of the bottle popped out of his mouth. “I’m not drunk yet,” he said again, pointing a finger at you.
“Are we getting drunk?” Klaus tripped over his own feet just as Ben stumbled out of the party room with his own bottle of half-finished, currently unidentifiable alcohol. “‘Cause I’m toootally down for that.”
“You’re already drunk, Klaus,” you reminded him. You lay back down again and let him squeeze his intoxicated self between you and Five.
“More is less, Titch,” Klaus said dreamily as he reached an arm across you and pulled you into his side.
You laughed, your face squished against his shoulder. “That is not the saying.”
“Anyone want some whiskey?” Ben asked before he flopped down beside Klaus and the bottle he’d been holding emptied its contents over his chest. “Fucking shit.”
“Benerrino! No swearing with the children around.” Klaus covered your ears and lifted a leg to stretch across you and towards Five. Five hit his foot away and shifted to lie beside you before he silently pulled a handkerchief from a pocket of his blazer and tossed it to Ben.
“Ah! You’re a gem, kid.”
“Not a kid, kid.”
Klaus gasped. “There’re, like, blood stains on this ceiling."
“Hey, party-poopers!” Four heads turned, the two drunkest lifting theirs with audible effort to see above you and Five. Diego had stuck his head out the party room and was confoundedly staring at them. A second later, Lila’s head appeared above him. “The hell are you doing out here?” Diego called, tossing his arms up in question.
“Getting drunk!” Klaus lifted Ben’s empty whiskey bottle.
“Count me in!” Lila said. A moment later she was lying beside Five. Another moment later, a yelp of shock sounded from Diego as Lila yanked him down next to her. A series of muttered insults spewed between them, though Diego made no move to get up.
No one was quite sure when Viktor joined the line you’d made in the hallway of the Hotel Obsidian, or when Allison appeared on the top step of the opposite staircase, her head leaning against the banister. At some point, Luther and Sloane had come searching for you, the former insisting that you come dance with him to your karaoke song, but had ended up tacking themselves onto the end of the line. There were both full and empty bottles of varying alcohol strewn around you, and a few bowls of snacks that Lila had raced back to grab. The ten of you had then broken into unrestrained laughter when Lila told them that Reginald and Chet had resorted to an apparently awkward silence with the absence of the Hargreeves family.
You talked, you got drunk, you laughed, Luther cried. Memories resurfaced and Diego finally discovered that it was Five who’d put slugs in his bed when they’d been kids. Allison laughed for the first time since the beginning of this apocalypse and she and Sloane engaged in some absent game of catch with a single m&m. Ben drunkenly apologised a grand total of six times for being a dick and Luther cried again after saying he forgave him. Klaus may have unofficially married Lila and Diego and Viktor got hit in the face with a sushi roll.
And, as you glanced across at Five, smiling at the wink he gave you, you genuinely believed that if the world were to end now, you were so happy you wouldn’t even notice.

Adventures of Ben and Y/N!: The Umbrella Academy x Sister! Reader!
Epilogue
"Okay, is everyone ready?" Five was getting ready to save us from the apocalypse. I was holding Ben's hand and Klaus' shoulder.
When we traveled back in time, I dropped down with my siblings in an alleyway in the back of a store.
We found out we were in 1960, Klaus started a cult, Ben fell in love, yadayadaya, but I have here 2 stories to share with you guys! They're really funny.
>> The time where Klaus almost ran over a cult member
So, me and my brothers were walking around our house when a member suddenly gifted Klaus a car.
It was pretty cool, so me and my siblings took it out for a drive.
Klaus wasn't a good driver, good thing me and Ben were already dead.
A few hours later...
After a few rounds around Dallas, a meal, a few little bickering sessions from my older brothers, a gas refill, and a sightseeing trip, we were finally going home.
I asked Ben if I could sleep while he hugged me, and of course, he said yes.
I was awakened by a loud scratching noise. I saw Klaus getting out of the car, and seemingly apologizing to a figure clad in blue robes.
After a few minutes, The figure came in to the car with Klaus with them.
Klaus said that the dude was going to join his cult and wanted to ask permission from the "prophet" himself.
We drove back to the house, and there, I fell asleep with my brother Ben beside me.
>>The Time where Ben developed a crush on this girl Jill
Okay, so. Jill was one of the original Destiny's Children. She was really pretty, and when I asked Ben if he liked her, he turned tomato red. As in, tomato red. He denied it of course, but I could see him chasing her around like a lost puppy.
I caught him following Jill around, sometimes helping her get stuff off the ground, picking apples for her, all the lovey-dovey stuff couples do.
I teased him about it, a lot, a LOT LOT. I used to tell him that Jill has a boyfriend, just to spite him.
One time, I saw him sitting with Jill on this mini bridge, while they watched the sunset.
I really wished Ben was alive in that moment. I wished that she could see him. Because I saw the spark between them, and how he really loved her.

“Uh guys,” Klaus said. “We might have another problem!”
“Ah, shit,” Five said. You follow after him, peeking over his shoulder.
“Who are they?”
“One’s the Handler, and the other is Diego’s girlfriend.”
“Lila, my ex-girlfriend,” Diego corrects.
“You know what? Doesn’t matter. They both look angry,” Luther observed.
“Yeah, well, your brother has that effect on people,” You snort.
Five kicks you in the shin for that. You let out a yelp and glare at him. He grins to himself before walking forward, “All right, I’m gonna go find out what they want. You guys stay here with Vanya and the kid.”
“I’m coming with you, too. Come on,” Diego said, stepping out with Five.
“Me too,” You chimed in, offering Five a small smile. The boy just rolls his eyes at you.
“You just have to follow me everywhere, don’t you?”
“Yup.”
The three of you stop in front of the Handler and Lila, nothing that they were both very unhappy. Except, Lila’s anger was directed more towards Five and not her ex.
“I love the smell of country air, don’t you, darling?” The Handler asked.
“Makes me wanna vomit,” Lilia deadpanned.
Five glances between the two. “What do you want?”
“To watch you suffer,” Lila replied.
You shrug. “Well, don’t we all.”
“What about me?” Diego asked.
“You’re not even worth my wrath.”
You raise your eyebrows at him. “Ouch, downgraded there, buddy.”
“Can you just shut up?” Five sneered, looking at you.
“Not with your dumbass around.”
“Easy, we’re here on official business,” The Handler broke in.
Five turns back to her. “And what business is that?”
“As the head of the commission, I’ve decided to eliminate the criminals responsible for the assassination of the former board of directions.”
“Yeah, right,” Diego scoffs. “We didn’t kill the board.”
“Well,” You said, dragging out the L.
“Uh, actually, Diego. That’s not entirely accurate,” Five mumbled, hands in his pockets.
The Handler tilts her head. “You didn’t tell them?”
“What the hell did you two do?” Diego demanded.
“What we had to go to get our family home,” Five said. “Until someone reneged on our deal.”
“Somebody wouldn’t have reneged on the deal if someone could’ve met a simple deadline. Alas.”
“You set us up to fail!”
“You set yourselves up to fail, friend — you and your brothers and sisters. Kind of the running theme of your little life, isn’t it?” The Handler chuckled.
Diego turns to Five with a shake of his head. “Dude, I can’t believe you killed the board of directions. You have no idea how messed up the commission is right now.”
“Messed up? Who’s saying that?”
“Everybody — Christ, even the janitors think it’s going to shit.”
“That’s not all he killed,” Lila suddenly spoke.
“What are you talking about?” Five snapped.
“Don’t play dumb, you prepubescent piece of shit.”
You scoff at her. “Okay, crazy lady, why don’t you shut your mouth? Only I get to talk to him like that.”
Five raises his eyebrows at you. He’s not sure if he should be offended or flattered by what you said. Though, he goes with offended because it came out of your mouth, and anything you say is stupid.
Like your stupid face. He hates it. That stupid smile that makes his heart skip a beat and your stupid little half-grin you always give him and only him.
It was disgusting.
For sure.
“Enough. The point is, all of you are going to die today. Hm?” The Handler cut you off.
“Oh,” Diego clicks his tongue. “Well, I don’t like your chances — seven of us, two of you.”
“You know, you’re right. Let’s change that.” The Handler snaps her fingers, and thousands of people blink into view. All of them carry briefcases and guns.
You let out a low breath. “Well, shit.”
“So, what do we do now?”
“Well, we got two choices: Fight and die now or run and die later. Either way, we’re food for worms,” Five said, rolling his shoulders.
“What’ll it be, boys?”
“Wouldn’t mind a few more minutes breathing air through the old windbags.”
“All right. Let’s get this over with, shall we?” The Handler grins, raising a red handkerchief.
“Run!” Five shouts, grabbing your arm and taking you with him.
Diego ducks, using his hands to cover his head. “We’re not gonna make it!”
Five huffs, grabbing Diego’s wrist and suddenly blinking you closer to the barn.
Diego groans. “Five, I think I’m gonna puke.”
“Diego, you puke, and I’ll puke,” You replied, flinching as bullets bounced off the tractor you’d hidden behind.
“What now?” Five questioned, peeking out from behind and ducking as bullets whiz past him.
“We blink into the house?” You suggested, gesturing towards the building with your hands.
Five narrows his eyes at you before grabbing you and Diego and trying to blink you away. His fists turn blue, but nothing happens, just warbling. “Shit, I’m out of fuel. I’m too tired.”
“Go! I’ll… I’ll cover for you two,” Diego said, standing up.
“What?” You shake your head. “Diego—”
But he’s already stepped out, stopping all the bullets and holding them there. “Go!”
Five doesn’t have to be told twice. He grabs your wrist and makes a dash for the building. Once inside, he shoves you under the table following after.
“A little harsh, don’t you think?”
“I just saved your life, dipshit.”
“Didn’t ask you to.”
Five just clicks his tongue. “Well, too bad. You’re welcome to step out and get shot.”
There’s silence, and you frown at Five. “Why do you hate me?”
“I—”
Before Five can answer, a high-pitched ringing sound is heard, and he puts his arm around you.
“What are you doing?” You shout over the noise.
But in seconds, the house begins to shake, and debris falls from the roof as Five covers you with his body. Which was odd considering his earlier comments. A loud crash is heard, and Luther hits the ground with a thud.
Five lets go of you, scrambling from under the table and going towards his brother. “Luther, you all right?”
“Oh, I think I swallowed my tongue,” he moans, rolling over.
Five rolls his eyes. “Luther, if you swallowed your tongue, you wouldn’t be talking, you big moron.”
“That and you’d be choking,” You added, standing beside Five.
He lends a hand to Luther, hauling him up to his feet. “Come on, on your feet.”
Luther groans with the effort but steadies himself. “Hey, what the hell happened? What was that?”
“She must’ve redirected Vanya’s energy wave.”
“Yeah, I know, but how?”
Something cracks above you, and you feel yourself harshly shoved to the side, knocking against the wall as the bricks from the fireplace crash down onto Five.
“Watch out!”
“Five!” You scream, but then Lila enters the room, and you decide to remain tucked in the corner. Five was fine, probably.
Not like you cared… at least, you tried not to.
“What are you?” Luther asked.
Lila cracks her neck. “Someone who wants to kill your brother.”
“Well, that’s understandable. Diego can be a lot to handle.”
“Yeah, I was talking about Five.”
You roll your eyes at their exchange. Who did this lady think she was?
“Him, too,” Luther pauses, “but unfortunately, they’re family, so you’re shit out of luck.”
He swings a punch at her, but she catches it, causing his eyes to go wide.
“How is this possible?”
“Gotta believe in yourself, big boy,” Lila taunts before throwing him out the opposite wall. She follows after him, and you take your chance to get towards Five.
You pull at the bricks, trying not to panic when there’s no sound. “C’mon, Five,” You mumble. Suddenly a hand springs out, grabbing yours, and you yank the boy hard.
He lands on top of you, blood dripping from his head, but otherwise, very much alive. You sigh in relief, blinking harshly.
“Are you okay?” You asked softly as he rolls off of you.
He nods, looking anywhere but you. “I’m fine.”
You frown at his curt reply, but that was Five. What more was there to expect? He made it very clear he didn’t like you.
Something shuffles behind you, and you turn your head to see Lila again.
Five stands up, bringing you with him. “Looking for me?” He asks.
“Five—,” You start. He just looks at you, eyes pleading, and for some reason, you listen. Lila’s eyes flicker towards you, but before anything else happens, Five blinks in front of her.
“Don’t look at her. Look at me,” He said. “You wanna fight? Let’s fight.”
Both disappear in a flash of blue, leaving you alone in the wrecked house. You step through the hole in the wall, looking for the other siblings to see if you can be of help. You rush over to the group of them, lifting a tractor off of Diego.
“Yeah, but she can only mirror one of our powers at a time,” Klaus said with a raised finger.
“Who, Lila?” You asked.
Allison nods. “You sure about that?”
“Okay, I’m not sure about that, but she can only mirror it if we use it first, right? That’s confirmed.”
Everyone mumbles in agreement.
“So we just need to… not use our powers?”
“Maybe, and if we catch her like that, we can question her about her powers and stuff. Maybe she knows more about this than us.”
“Yeah, but first, we need to find her,” Diego said.
“She disappeared with Five,” You said, pointing towards the barn. “And I’m gonna assume those flashes of blue light are them.”
“Cause you’re one of us,” Diego spoke, stepping into the barn first. You follow with all his siblings, catching Five’s eye and moving towards him.
“What happened to you?” You asked.
He just scoffs. “Nothing I couldn’t handle.”
“Really? Cause you sure look like you had your ass handed to you.”
Five rolls his eyes. “Did you just come here to insult me?”
You shrug. “Why else?”
To check that you’re okay, to make sure you’re alive because I love you.
You miss the slight frown on Five’s lips after you said that.
“You don’t know me, Diego,” Lila spat, knife touching his chest.
Diego just smiles. “Don’t I? I know that we can be your family if you just let us.”
Lila glances around the room, and you offer her a small smile despite her antics to kill Five. Five gives her a tight-lipped smile, stepping closer to you and unknowingly brushing your shoulders together.
It happens in a split second. You heard the first gunshot, and you saw Allison fly to the floor. And yet, in slow motion, you can see the bullet heading for Five, and out of instinct, you shove him harshly to the ground before shortly following.
Pain floods your entire system as warm blood soaks your clothes. You turn your head to meet Five’s eyes as he lays next to you.
“Hey,” You breathed out before coughing up blood.
“You fucking idiot,” Five whispered, crawling towards you.
“I’m dying, and that’s all you can say?” You scoff, trying to cover the hurt. You didn’t know what to expect after saving his life, but it wasn’t that. But knowing he was alive was enough for you. Five was a hero, after all. You just hoped he knew a way to fix this.
Five just shakes his head, a hand brushing a piece of hair behind your ear. “No, I… there’s so much I want to tell you, but I can’t.”
You laugh. “You can’t, or you won’t?”
“I don’t know how.”
“You don’t know how to love?”
Five’s eyes turn glassy as he nods. “I’ve been alone for so long… I’m sorry, (Y/N). I’m so sorry. I never hated you. I always—”
“It’s okay, Five,” You cut him off, coughing harshly again as more bullets are heard. Five doesn’t look up to see Lila crumble to the floor.
“You’re crying,” You mumbled, hand finding his. There’s comfort in it, knowing that as you’re dying, Five’s comforting you. He’s holding you. That’s all you really ever wanted.
“I know,” Five admits. “Why would you do that?”
“Because I love you, even if you’re not ready to love me back.”
More tears slip down Five’s face, and he brushes them off your paling cheeks. He doesn’t know what to do. Your breath keeps getting shallower, your eyes don’t stay open anymore, and you just sound like you’re in pain. He wants to tell you everything. He never hated you. He just didn’t know how to love you. Maybe he didn’t want to in case this happened.
He was used to solitude, and he was sure he liked it until he met you.
He needed you.
Five opens his mouth to tell you he’s ready when someone else speaks.
“Oh, good. You’re still alive. Lucky you, you get to see how this all played out.”
The Handler raises her gun at Five, but before anything happens, she’s shot down by Axel. She falls limp by Five’s side, and he turns back towards you.
“(Y/N),” he starts before he realizes you're gone.
He falls back in horror, realizing he never got to tell you he loves you too.
Memories flood his brain, clouding his visions, and he can hear you laughing in some of them, smiling at him, caring for him when he never did the same. You didn’t deserve that. He always knew he loved you, but showing it was so much harder than he expected. But in the thirty seconds, you’ve been gone, Five realizes he has to push that to the side. He misses you, his family, and his future.
“Start small. Seconds, not decades.”
Five offers one more look at you and realizes what he has to do. His hands turn blue as he begins to reverse the last minute.
It’s like déjà vu, but as predicted, the Handler walks in, and Five snatches the gun from her. He points it at her and she raises her hand in defeat.
“It’s true, isn’t it? What Five said,” Lila shouted. “Answer me, is it true?”
“Well,” The Handler starts before being shot down.
Your eyes widen at the sight of blood dripping from her mouth, looking towards Five dropping his gun.
Lila runs towards the briefcase, followed by Luther and Diego.
Five, however, speaks to the Swede. “Enough.”
The man echoes it back and leaves.
As soon as he’s gone, it’s like time starts again as the siblings begin to talk. Diego and Luther already arguing, but Five just rushes towards you.
You’re startled when he hugs you tightly, one arm around your waist and the other on the back of your head.
“Five?” You ask.
He shakes his head. “I’m ready.”
“Ready for what?” You ask with a chuckle.
Five swears he's never heard anything better than that. He takes a while with his response, eyes tracing your face and taking in all your beauty.
“Ready to love you.”
Your eyes widen at his statement, but he just cups your face tenderly and kisses you. You melt into his arms, falling into them easily. His thumb rubs small circles on your cheeks before pulling back and resting his forehead on yours.
“Why the sudden change? Thought you hated me.”
Five just smiles. “I never hated you.”
“I never hated you either.”
“I know,” Five said smugly. “You were pretty obvious about it.”
You narrow your eyes at him. “Thin ice, Five.”
He just kisses you again. “Love you, sorry.”
“Mhmm.”

Hii!! Can we have a part two of “my little Angel”? I would love to see a part two starting right in the moment it sopped, I’m obsessed with that and with Five as a dad😭❤️😭❤️😭❤️😭
My little angel
Five Hargreeves x reader
Pt.2 of my little angel
Five held Lina in his arms while he stared at you. You lovingly admire his bottle green eyes. Vanya came back, she first gave you a glance then stared at Five holding Lina. She had a puzzled look on her face since when she was with Five he didn’t have a kid. She then decided to just ask, there was nothing wrong with asking right?
“Umm Five, who's the kid, and why does she look like you?”
Five contemplated on letting her know, but this was his kid! Why shouldn’t he show off his little angel. He looked at you; you were breathtakingly glowing. Pregnancy really did a wonderful job on you. You were practically glowing, but then again that could be your powers making you glow, so goddess-like and glowing like the sun.
“She’s my beautiful daughter, Evangeline Hargreeves.”
Five announced with so much fondness and confidence, his face was relaxed, something that Vanya had not seen in a while. Vanya stared at Lina and looked at Five. She saw the way Five loved his kid, also Lina looked like a female version of Five. She then smiled, happy he was happy, the time that she has known him (which has been a short while since she doesn’t remember anything at all.) You looked at your sister-in-law and introduced yourself again to her. You all four finally walked out of the cafe shop and started walking who knows where. Just that Five had a place he was staying at and wanted you to go with him. Of course you did follow him, he had your daughter in his arms after all. Lina talked to Five about anything and everything. She told him about staying with her uncle Klausy and how they got back to Dallas.
You winced at the memory, it just happened two days ago, so of course it was a recent thing she will probably remember. Five gave you a look and you just smiled nervously. You knew he was going to ask you about it, but for now he was content with Lina talking his ear off about her days. Five told you he was going to an underground fight since Luther decided to get himself into that with his stay in Dallas first. You winced and took Lina from his arms. He gave you a confused look. You gave him a look he knew way too often.
“My miele, I love you but our kid is not going into an underground fight to see sweaty men and get traumatized.”
You explained to him so he understood why. He nodded his head, moving it side to side to understand that yes maybe that wasn’t the brightest idea he has. Lina first complained, wanting to stay with her father since seeing him for the first time; but you did let her know that we will see him later, he was just going to run errands with auntie Vanny and you promised to take the cake to uncle Klausy and uncle Benny.
She nodded with a cute serious face and gave her dad a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Five had the biggest smile on his face and he gave Lina many kisses all over her face that made her let out giggles. You chuckled and grabbed Lina’s hand. You gave Five a sweet kiss and told him where you were staying. You both bid goodbye and made your way back to Klaus’s mansion. Lina looked so happy getting to finally see her father in person, all she had was stories from you and uncle Klausy. You knew she was going to talk about her day to Klaus and Ben, she loved the stories you will tell her about her father, letting her know she looked exactly like her father. Getting back to the mansion you decide to prepare for dinner, hoping you will finally have lunch with your husband and child like an actual family. Once you are done you decide to visit your friend with Lina in tow. You take a basket and add food for your friend, and you and your kid.
You let Lina know you’ll both be walking towards Elliot's house. She nods and grabs her backpack. You both make your way to the store and open the door. Once inside you knock on the second door and wait, Elliot opens the door and looks around, once he sees you both he smiles and mentions you both to come in. You go in and put the basket down on the table and look around. Lina runs around and you just smile fondly at your daughter. You start small talk with Elliot while he takes out some paper and crayons for Evangeline. Elliot starts talking about a guy that just showed up at his place and is now staying there. You gave him a deadpanned look and shook your head in disappointment.
“Elliot, are you getting taken advantage of by this guy? Do you even know who he is? I mean does he even know you like that for him to just stay at your house?”
You question genuinely worries for your older friend. You put a hand up making him stop answering you.
“Actually Elli i don’t think I want to know the answers to my questions. Anyways, come and eat. I made my husband’s favorite food.”
You saw he gave you a sad look but still came and sat down. You went towards the living room not knowing that your husband and Diego were coming from the other side. You tried to get Evangeline to come and eat, but for some reason she was being stubborn and wouldn’t come to eat. You knew if she kept at it she was going to throw a tantrum. You sighed and looked at her.
“Angel?”
You knew that voice. You turned towards the door and saw your husband with your brother in law. You sighed happily, Lina got up and ran towards her dad screaming happily. You looked at your husband and went back towards the kitchen to prepare two more plates for the surprised guests. Diego looked at you and Five back and forth.
“Who’s the cute looking kid?”
You looked at Diego and looked at Evangeline and gave him a deadpanned look. He still looked confused and then his eyes widened and he looked shocked and looked at Five pointing at him. You snorted and let out a laugh. Five looked at Diego, not entertaining his questioning. You told the boys to sit down, hoping that if Five was sitting down meant that Lina would also sit down to eat. She ran towards her father sitting on his lap ready to eat. You were glad you didnt have to tell her, but you were going to talk to Five about her stubbornness she inherited from him. Once the night ended, Elliot let you stay the night in the guest bedroom Five was already staying at. You got Lina ready for bed, her falling asleep from using all her energy playing with her Uncle Diego. You got into your nightgown and started braiding your hair when your husband came into the room. He sighed and took off his coat, sweater vest and tie. He hugged you from behind and put his head on your shoulder.
“You have no idea how much I missed you.”
You leaned your head back, you turned around and hugged him back. You sniffed him, him still selling like coffee and the forest.
“I know miele you don’t know how much I needed you here, but I’m glad you’re here with us now.”
You both layed down, each of us on one side of Evangeline. We all snuggled together and held hands. You whisper to not wake up Lina.
“I love you Five Hargreeves.”
“I love you even more Y/N Hargreeves…. and little Evangeline Hargreeves.”

"What the hell, why did Luther have to be the usual idiot to say those things to her?" Klaus says to Ben as the two walk down the sidewalk going from bar to bar looking for his sister.
"How do you know she went to a bar?" Ben asks and Klaus snorts.
"Come on she's a Hargreeves, obviously when she's upset she'll go to a bar." Klaus speaks like it's obvious.
The two stop in front of a bar and sigh.
"Well that's the penultimate one, let's hope." Klaus says, and enters the establishment, sighing in relief when he sees his sister up ahead in a circle of people who look very drunk.
"Sister, my goodness I found you, come let's go home." Kluas says taking her hand and pulling it.
"No Klaus, let me go!" Y/n says trying to get away from Klaus' hands.
"No honey, we're going home."
"Hey dude let her go." Klaus feels his sister being pulled from the other side, and turns towards the voice.
"She is my sister, and i will take her home with me." He says looking seriously at the man laughs.
"No, she will stay here." He says pulling more Y/n, who is too drunk to understand the situation.
Klaus looks at the man's hands on his sister's arms and all he wants to do is rip those dirty hands off of him because he knows that if she were sober she would never allow such a thing.
"Get your filthy paws off her!" Klaus says and pushes the man who falls backwards.
"Will it be like this then?" The man punches Klaus
Klaus staggered back a little, and his eyes searched his sister again, the punch hurt, it sure did, but he hates it a lot more if it had been his favorite person, his sister
He looked at her, who seemed distant in thoughts, and took advantage that the man was being held, to go to her and take her arm again.
"Let's go." He says and starts dragging her out of the confusion until they get out of that bar.
"Holy shit, that was an adventure, sister!" He says putting his hands on his knees and laughing.
"Klaus..." Ben says looking straight at Y/n.
Klaus looks at his sister and sees her eyes watering.
"Sorry Klaus, I only know how to mess things up, forgive me." She says putting her hands on her face and staggering a little.
Klaus sighed as he remembered that those were the exact words Luther had said to her a few hours ago.
"I can't believe you believed that giant, come on sister you know it's not true" Klaus says putting his arms around her shoulders, pulling her to his chest.
"You just got hurt because of me Klaus." Y/n says still crying in her chest.
"And I would do it again if it means you're safe, you've always been the one who believed in me, come on sister you've always been the one who believed in everyone." Ben nods at Klaus' words.
"Tell her she's the prettiest of all of us too." Ben says.
"Oh and the prettiest among us too." Klaus says, and Y/n laughs, letting go of him, and wiping away tears.
"You're the best brother, Klaus." She says smiling fondly to Klaus.
"Looks like you're the only one who thinks that" Klaus lets out an awkward laugh, and grabs his sister's arm when he sees her almost falling over.
"Anyone who doesn't realize how fantastic you are is completely crazy." She says with a huff and Klaus laughs at his sister's way.
"I think you should say that in front of the mirror." Klaus says taking her hand, and the three start walking.
It's a complicated family, but thank God they have each other.

Nothing’s Gonna Take You From My Side
PAIRING: Sparrow!Ben Hargreeves x Umbrella!Reader
SUMMARY: After returning from the 60s, you weren’t the only ones surprised that Ben was alive; the Sparrow Academy was surprised you were active too.
GENRE: Fluff.
WARNINGS: Cursing, violence, mentions of death.
WORD COUNT: 6.4k words
Tumblr media
“Holy shit,” you could hear whispers from not only your siblings but from these people that claimed to be the “Sparrow Academy.” You didn’t understand their shock in the first place. Of course, for you, seeing Ben alive after so many years was a shocker. The last time you saw him, all of you were 17 years old.
“Is that you?” You could see the shock on Luther’s face as he got closer to Ben.
He looked more mature, and of course, it didn’t look like YOUR Ben. He seemed more serious and mean. Ben couldn’t take his eyes off of you. He slowly made his way to you. The closer he got, the more you started to hold your breath. You have dreamed of this exact moment for years, to have Ben in front of you for at least one more time, even if you knew this wasn’t the Ben you knew. He stood just inches from you. You could see shock and confusion mixed with happiness. For a moment, he looked like your sweet and innocent Ben. The one you have loved for so many years. You could feel one tear roll down your cheek, which was whipped out by Ben. He left his hand on your cheek, stroking it. You leaned into his touch, closing your eyes and trying to enjoy the little contact he was providing you. This couldn’t be real right? This has to be a dream. You felt his hands holding your face, and you opened your eyes. He was admiring you as if he hadn’t seen you in so long. And you could tell because you were sure you were looking at him in the same way.
“How are you alive?” he whispered while hugging you. That took you by surprise. What was he talking about? He was the one who died, not you. You pulled away from the hug, even if you wanted to stay like that forever.
“What, what do you mean I’m alive? Ben, you’re the one that's dead, not me” You could see the same confusion on his face.
“She’s back, and she’s still as dumb as she was,” a girl on the balcony said.
“What did you just say about my sister?” You heard Diego say, taking out a knife. You looked back at him with a pleading face. If this escalated, things were going to end badly. “AND WHO ARE THE WEIRDOS ON THE BALCONY?” Diego spat out.
“Shut up Jayme!” Ben shouted at the girl. They may be siblings, but you could feel the venom coming out of Ben. The Sparrows started to go down the balcony. Everything was happening so fast that you almost forgot Reginald was still in the room.
“They are the Sparrows. My children.” Now, what the hell the old man was talking about?
“I’m sorry, what do you mean, your children? That’s not possible, old man.” Five told Reginald. Finding out they were the Sparrow Academy and Reginald’s “new children” was not what you expected to find out after returning from the past. Ben put one arm around you. You looked at him, but he was looking at the situation unfolding in front of you, entertained by your siblings' confusion.
“Of course it is! I think I’d know, wouldn’t I?” Anger was starting to bubble inside you. Reginald wasn’t the best father in the world, but saying that he had other children was too much, even for someone as cruel as him.
“Everybody can see Ben, right?” Klaus turned around, amazed by Ben.
“Cute hat, Sundance,” Ben said to him. You could hear the irony. Yeah, this wasn’t your Ben. You tried to free yourself from his grasp, but he was stronger than you. He wasn’t making it easy for you to pull away. He was grabbing you as if you could disappear at any minute.
“They call themselves the Umbrella Academy, a group of scheming, perfidious malcontents who accosted me in the fall of 1963 when I was away on business in Dallas. Be warned, they claim to be my spawn.” He had to be joking. You could see your siblings started to get angry at his words. All of this was just insane. You tried again to escape Ben’s hold, but it was useless.
“Stop it, darling. You’re not going anywhere. Not again,” he whispered in your ear. Something about the way he let out the pet name made you feel the whole damn zoo in your stomach.
“Claim? Look, Five, what the hell is going on” Allison was mad, and you didn’t only sense it, but you could see it.
“I don’t know yet, but it’s concerning.” Five looked at the Sparrow and noticed the way Ben was holding you.
“Is he telling the truth?” The guy next to Ben said.
“Not the part about us being perfidious,” Viktor answered him.
“No, we’re amateur-fidious, at best” You could see Klaus was trying so hard to ease the tension in the room.
“But we are his children. This is our house,” Viktor tried to explain to the Sparrows.
“Yeah, yeah. We, uh… We grew up here.” Luther stuttered. A guy from the Sparrows, who you could tell had been badly injured, mocked what he had just said. You rolled your eyes. And you thought there couldn’t be anyone as immature as your siblings.
“I kinda think we would have noticed you,” the other girl from the Sparrows answered. Luther stayed silent for a moment and introduced himself with the biggest smile you have seen in any of your siblings. You knew what he was doing.
“Really, Luther? Right now?” You said to him. You heard a chuckle coming out of Ben.
“Okay. None of you belong here” Allison was done with all of this situation, just like you. The past days have been nothing but trying to save the world not once but twice, and the only thing you wanted was to rest. Ben could see your tired expression. “Don’t worry. Once we finish with them, you can rest, darling” Ben kissed your forehead, and the action made you smile. You didn’t fully understand why he was being so polite and caring to you, but you didn’t want him to stop.
“Oh well, I guess we’ll just pack our bags and move out,” A girl with glasses said, and the cube that was next to her made noises. Now, what the hell was that? This just keeps getting more ridiculous.
“Oh, you slay me, Chris,” you heard Ben say next to you. You heard steps getting closer to where you were.
“I wasn’t expecting company” You turned your head to the voice. It was Mom. You somehow managed to get free from Ben’s hold. Getting closer to her. You felt Diego standing next to you. “This is the best I could do on short- short- notice.”
“Mom…” Diego said. It felt so comforting seeing her.
“Mom? She’s a robot, you perv,” The girl that called you dumb a moment ago, Jayme, blurted out.
“It’s not a robot” Diego was trying his best to remain calm. Out of your siblings, you and Diego were really close to Mom. Even if she wasn’t your real mom, you knew she was the closest to one.
“Hey, don’t you call him that,” Luther tried to defend Diego.
“Or what?” Ben asked.
“Why don’t you come closer and find out” Luther and Ben started to get closer to each other, with the full intention to start fighting.
“Luther!” You tried to get his attention.
“Luther! Guys, Chill!” Viktor tried to calm Ben and Luther, but of course, they didn't listen.
“Think I’m afraid?” Ben was ready to fight Luther at any moment. He stole a glance at you to see your reaction. You were unimpressed.
“Stand down, Ben” The guy next to bend extended his arm to prevent Ben from going forward to Luther.
“How about I hide that big Rubik’s Cube up your ass?” This was not going to end well. You saw how all your siblings were starting to get madder by the second. Even if everyone in the room seemed to be upset, you just couldn’t seem to move; having Ben so close to you after all this time was starting to affect you badly.
“ENOUGH!”
Jayme suddenly fired some kind of liquid out of her mouth. The substance landed on Diego’s left cheek. You could see how he was touching it, trying to understand what just landed on his cheek.
“I don’t know what circus you people escaped from or how you got past our security, but we’re done here. You got 30 seconds to get out of our house.”
“And what if we don’t?” Allison was ready to fight.
“Then we’ll have to settle this the old-fashioned way.”
“Agreed,” Luther said.
There was such a deadly silence in the room, the tension growing by the second. Your sight went to Diego, and he didn’t seem very well. It looked like he got sick in such a short amount of time. Something was on the substance Jayme threw at him. It looked like he completely disconnected from reality.
“Look, we just fought a literal army, okay? This doesn’t need to get ugly. Let’s all just calm down, and let’s talk” Finally, someone with a little sense and Viktor was right. This was just so stupid to fight over who’s Reginald’s children. If it was up to you… Well, you didn’t care.
“Psst. Ben-er-ino” Klaus seemed to be the happiest one in this situation. You knew how Klaus was able to see Ben even after his death, so you understood his happiness. “You look so much better alive than you do dead. Am I right? Except for that haircut.”
Ben was annoyed, and his face showed it. You took advantage of his annoyance to free yourself from him and made your way next to Diego.
“What the hell did you just say?” You were glad Ben was too distracted. You were pretty sure if it wasn’t for Klaus’ comment, his grasp would’ve tightened around your body.
“Come on come on, stop with all the hostility, Mr. Grumpy Pants” Klaus made his way so he could be standing in front of Ben. “Oh wow. Nice scar. Muy macho”
“Shut your mouth!” You could see the last hint of patience leave Ben’s body
“You shut your mouth and just hug your brother-” That was it. Ben punched Klaus in the face, and you felt your blood boiling out of anger. Klaus stumbled and tripped over the center table. You quickly made your way to him, wanting to make sure he was ok.
“Hey! What the hell?! You didn’t have to do that!” You heard Luther say.
“Oh, I’m pretty sure I did!” everyone in the room started to bicker, but you couldn’t care less. Right now, you were just mad at Ben for hurting Klaus not only physically but emotionally too. You didn’t need Klaus to tell you that. Ben was his only real companion for so many years that the way this Ben reacted definitely hurt Klaus.
You felt someone’s pair of hands holding you by the waist, and when you least expected it, you saw Luther fly across the room, crashing down straight into Klaus.
“You ok?” Diego asked you.
“Yeah, don’t worry.” you turned your head to him flashing him a smile. You took a look at everyone in the room. And your eyes landed on how Reginald was just leaving the room, knowing well a fight was just going to start. Diego pulled you away from the center of the room. The guy that was next to Ben, the one that was standing in the middle, sprinted to the other side of the room, running and walking over the table and going straight to Klaus and Luther. This was going to get messier.
All of the Sparrows remaining except for Ben and that cube, stay in the living. As for the other ones, they start to follow Allison and Viktor.
Five went straight to Ben while you and Diego stayed in your place, waiting for the cube to get closer to you.
“Come at me, litter box!” Diego shouted and tried his best to keep his balance, but he was still trying to recover after the substance hit his skin. The cube, well, Christopher, made some noises. Surprisingly you did understand what he said, and Diego did too.
“Hey! Listen, I have amazing hair, all right? This was era-appropriate” Christopher didn’t care about what Diego was explaining since the stupid cube shot some kind of lightning toward Diego. “That’s all you got?”
“Not on my fucking watch” You wanted to get as close to the cube as possible, but you felt something tighten around your body. It was a tentacle.
Christoper started to chase Diego, and you saw where the tentacle was coming from. You were shocked but not surprised. What piqued your interest is that Ben was still fighting with Five but somehow managed to restrain you effortlessly. You started to punch the tentacle that was around your waist for it to let you go, but it was useless. It appears the tentacle had his own strength. Five was bitting the shit out of Ben, but the tentacle remained as strong. When you least expect it, another tentacle went and tangled around your arms, making you stay still without an opportunity to fight back.
Ben gets Five in a headlock, but luckily Five manages to blink to get away from Ben. Ben seemed slightly confused at Five’s actions.
“You’re alive. That’s… great. Or possibly horrible. I’m not really sure yet.”
“Is that some kind of weird smack talk?”
“It’s more of an existential problem, really, Ben. Now can you please let go of my sister?” Five looked at you, and he realized Ben managed to leave you still.
“Awesome. Well, here’s your next problem” Ben didn’t even wait for a second when a tentacle shot out of his body. Five disappeared again, teleporting to the balcony close to where you were.
“You know, even though you’re a total asshat now….” Five blinked and appeared behind Ben. He punched Ben in the face, knocking him out. “It’s nice to see you again, really” You felt the tentacles loosening around your body. Letting you fall on the balcony’s floor.
“Thanks, Five!” you shouted from the balcony.
“Well, maybe you want to use your powers, sis” Five smirked at his comment, knowing fully well your powers only worked outside since you were able to control only the weather.
“Oh look, now you’re a comedian,” you smiled at him. “Five, watch out” You saw how Christopher started to fly toward Five, but out of a sudden, Diego jumped onto the flying cube.
“Who’s your daddy? I’m your daddy! Who’s… your… daddy?” Five, and you only saw how Christopher started to go up to the rooftop with Diego and started to spin him around in an attempt to get Diego away from him. Christopher turned so fast that Diego flew away onto the left side of the balcony.
“Let’s get the fuck out of here,” You said under your breath. You made your way down the balcony and entered the living room; you were getting closer to Five when you felt two arms wrapped around your body.
“You’re not going away so easily, my darling,” Ben whispered. You could hear he was starting to get tired of all the fighting. Five disappeared from the living room. It was like your whole body stopped responding the moment you heard the nickname roll out of him. You don’t want to admit it, but he has power over you. Maybe it’s just weakness, or perhaps you just really missed him after all these years, but you were sure about something. You weren’t going to be able to fight against him. And the same happened to him. How can he fight the love of his life? Someone he also thought he had lost forever. He wasn’t going to let you go so easily. And he will make sure you never leave his side ever again. You were staring at Ben, having him so close… You were able to take a look at the scar he had on his left cheek. You want to ask what happened to him, but something interrupts you. Well, someone is actually shouting.
“See? We’re hugging! This is progress!” you turned your head to Klaus, noticing the giant tentacle around his body.
“Let him go, Ben,” you begged him.
“Ok,” you could see how Klaus fell to the floor with a loud thud. Ben was smirking.
“That’s not what I meant, asshole.”
“It was funny, you have to admit it, angel,” you wanted to answer back, but he kissed your forehead, making you forget everything the moment you felt his lips on you.
“Cat got you tongue?” You heard Ben chuckle.
“Shut up” You felt the blood rush to your cheeks. Damn him, all so beautiful and perfect.
“See? Bigger isn’t always better,” One of the Sparrows spat out after punching Luther.
“Is that what you tell your girlfriends?” You asked him, making him look at you. Luther took this as an opportunity and attempted to kick him down, but he was faster and managed to avoid Luther’s kick by jumping, and then he kicked Luther in the face knocking him down.
“Thai food for dinner?” The Sparrow girl that’s wearing glasses asked.
“I could go for pad see ew,” Ben answered her question. It seemed like all this fight was so easy for them, as if they didn’t care about it. You were impressed, but at the same time, it hurt your pride. Your siblings were doing everything in their hands to at least fight for your home, and all of these people were acting as if none of it mattered as if you didn’t matter.
“I’m in. Marcus, Thai?”
“Why are you even asking him? He hates Thai” Ben was making your approach where Luther was.
“What? Since when?”
“Fine. Italian,” the girl in glasses asked.
“Absolutely not” You looked at Ben and then returned your sight to where Luther was being beaten by who you assumed was Marcus. How could they have such a trivial conversation while one of them was beating the shit out of your brother? That only helped you confirm something. They were good, and they knew it.
“We done here?” Marcus stepped on Luther’s chest.
“Nope,” you wanted to smile at Luther’s answer, but right now, you were more worried someone managed to knock Luther down. “I don’t run from a fight.”
“Yeah, that’s the wrong answer, dude.” The Sparrow guy next to Ben, that was all beaten up, said to him.
“Let him finish him off,” Ben interrupted him. You hit him in the chest.
“Come on, Luther,” you whispered to yourself. He cannot let some random guy treat him like a punching bag. You wanted so badly to help him. You knew if all of you were outside, all of them would have been thrown away by now. But unfortunately, you were inside, and Ben was keeping you from doing anything at all.
“Let’s end this” Marcus started to kick Luther in the chest repeatedly, the action making you flinch, and you turned your body to Ben so you could hug him. Ben slid one of his arms around your body. You know it was wrong, but you just needed his comfort right now. You were pretty sure you heard some bones being broken, and you were trying so hard to not start crying right now. You listened to a rumble of thunder in the distance, meaning that if you didn’t calm down and started to collect yourself, a thunderstorm would get closer anytime soon. So you decided to pay attention to Ben’s heartbeat. It was calm. Not a single glimpse of being agitated or excited. It was as if you were the one who made his heartbeat stay peaceful.
“Stay down!” Marcus yelled at Luther.
“Luther!” You heard Viktor scream from the balcony.
“Viktor!” Luther groaned. You heard someone speak to Viktor, making you turn your head to where the voices were coming from. One of the Sparrow girls made Viktor levitate to the center of the living room.
“Guys, go! Get out!” Luther took your arm, pulling you towards him, taking advantage of Ben’s confusion. The two of you managed to get out through a secret door in the living room, running as fast as you could. A part of you was worried about Ben. If he didn’t get out of that place, Viktor was going to hurt him badly. But you knew you shouldn’t feel that way. Not after the way he treated your siblings. Even if he looked like your Ben, he wasn’t that Ben. So you knew you needed to focus on that. If you didn’t do it, not only were you going to get hurt, but your siblings would be too, and that’s the last thing you wanted.
You and Luther managed your way out of the secret passage. You could see Luther was trying to walk like he usually does. The previous fight made all the bones in his body move from the place they were supposed to be, his joints cracking when suddenly he turned around and punched the girl that made Viktor levitate not so long ago.
“Oh shit!” Luther exclaimed. “Hey, I’m sorry. Uh, are you okay?” Luther squatted down so he could help the girl.
“Yeah,” you could see Luther was actually worried for her, and it warmed your heart. “Hi,” she said to the two of you. “I’m Sloane” Luther smiled at her.
“Hey, Sloane. Uh... I’m Luther, and this is my sister Y/n” You waved at her and offered her a sympathetic smile. She seemed nice. Even nicer than her siblings
“Luther! Y/n! We’re leaving! Come on!” Five shouted at you and grabbed your hand for you to follow him.
“Just a second” Luther tried to continue speaking, but Allison just grabbed Luther for him to start moving.
“Come on! We gotta go!” Allison said, hustling Luther away in the process.
You were arriving at the end of the hallway when you saw the girl with glasses materializing some ravens from her back for them to start following the four of you.
“Seriously?” Luther baffled.
“Move, move, move, move!” The four of you started to run again as fast as you could, trying to get away from the birds as if your life depended on it
“The briefcase!” Five shouted.
“What?” You asked him, but Five blinked away before he could even listen to you.
“No time!” Allison tried to stop him to no avail.
“I hate that he can do that.”
“Go! Shut it!” Allison commanded. The three of you managed to enter a new room closing the door behind you. You could hear the ravens screeching from the other side of the door.
“That was close,” you panted out, trying to calm down your breathing. When you least expect it, the ravens started to peck the door with their beaks.
“Oh shit!”
“What do we do?” Allison was starting to get worried. You looked around the room and saw a window.
“Come! We have to jump,” you instructed them to follow you. You open the window in a swift move, making the air move around you and your siblings, helping you to get out of the window without having to jump from the first floor. When the three of you were on the floor, you started running as fast as possible. You didn’t know where, but you just wanted to get as far from that house as soon as possible.

All of your siblings except for Viktor managed their way to a park that was near the academy. All of them looked like shit. Out of the 6 of you, you were the one who was only agitated by the previous events. You knew the reason for you not being as beaten as them was because Ben made sure you didn’t get hurt, preventing you from actually fighting. You were mad and disappointed in yourself. You should have been able to at least help them during the fights, but the fact that your powers do not work indoors made it more complicated. You felt so useless, all of them were able to fight back and use their powers to their advantage, but you, you weren’t even able to free yourself from Ben’s tentacles. Your mind started to go around in circles, and your heartbeat was beginning to pick up its pace that you overlooked when the sky was starting to get cloudy while thunders and lightning could be seen and heard from the distance.
“Y/n” Five tried to get your attention. He could see your anger, and he was pretty sure the cloudiness was because of you “Hey, it’s okay, we’re fine” You felt his hand touching your arm, trying to calm you down, and it worked. He gave you a quick smile, and you smiled back at him. You slowly calmed down, making the clouds go away.
“Just gonna sit. I’m just gonna sit for a minute,” Luther groaned as he was sitting down on the park bench.
“That didn’t go well.”
“No, not our best work,” Five answered Diego.
“Oh, I’m cracking” You could see and hear the way Klaus’ body moved and cracked, making you shiver.
“You alright?” You asked Luther. After the beating Marcus gave him, you were worried for him.
“I don’t know yet.” Luther sighed. “I’ve just never had my ass handed to me like that before. It’s like… Here you go, it’s your ass,” Luther mimicked, giving you something to show his point, which only made you laugh. Allison was looking at him as if something wrong happened to him.
“Okay, I think Luther’s concussed.”
“Luther, how many fingers?” Klaus asked him, and Luther looked baffled.
“Oh my god, Viktor” Before someone could answer him, Allison pointed at him.
“Oh, thank god you’re alive,” Viktor said from afar.
“You okay?” Allison asked him
“Apparently, so is Ben,” Klaus said cautiously, looking at you, trying to not get a reaction from you. Trying to get your mind away from Ben. You stay motionless.
“Yeah. And he’s a complete dickhead” You nodded at her comment.
“They’re all dickheads” you hear Diego say.
“Dickheads who can fight” Luther was right. They were able to defeat the 6 of you like it was the easiest thing in the world.
“Okay, the next person to say dickhead is getting a punch to the throat.”
“Dickhead” All of you said in unison.
“Hey, did Dad tell you why he was calling them his kids?” Diego asked Klaus, and for the first time since you arrived at the park, you started to pay attention to the conversation.
“He sure did!” Klaus laughed. “You ready? Dad was so repulsed by us back in Texas that he adopted an entirely different group of children just so that he didn’t have to raise us” That piece of shit! Talking about your attitude as if he wasn’t the reason why you turned out like that in the first place.
“That’s just peak, Dad,” Diego said
“Isn’t it?”
“So he just didn’t want us anymore?” Viktor asked. A hint of disappointment could be heard.
“Did he ever?” Allison blurted out. She’s right. Reginald never really cared for the 8 of you. You always asked yourself why he even bothered to adopt all of you in the first place if he wasn’t going to at least treat you with civility.
“See? I told you we shouldn’t have asked him for help in ’63”
“I think you’re all missing the big picture here. If Dad didn’t adopt us as kids, he changed the timeline,” Five started to explain to you. “So, who knows what else is different now.”
“Shouldn’t you know?” Allison asked Five.
“Sorry, Allison, but it might take me over 20 minutes and a traumatic brain injury to figure this out. Is that okay with you?”
“No, actually, it’s not”
In an attempt to calm everyone, Viktor spoke, “Guys, look, it’s fine. We still have the Commission’s briefcase, so worst case, we can just go back in time and fix it.
“Great!”
“Okay. There are two problems with that statement. First off…” Five started explaining
“Here we go.” You looked at Five, knowing well you were about to be told by him how dumb of a statement that was
“Time travel is complicated, people.”
“Yeah, we get it. Your job is so hard, so what?” Diego tried his best to remain calm.
“And secondly…” Five made a pause. That’s not a good sign. “I no longer have the briefcase.” Everyone was shocked at his comment. How could he lose it? He was always so careful and made sure to never leave the briefcase alone.
“Five. Where the hell is the briefcase?” Five didn’t answer. At the lack of response, one by one started to get up, knowing something had to be done to get the briefcase back.
Diego came closer to you. Your silence was starting to make him feel uneasy. He put an arm around you, pulling you closer to him.
“How do you feel? I can hear how your brain has been thinking since we arrived at the park” he always managed to get a smile out of you no matter what situation you were in, and this time wasn’t the exception. You sighed.
“I don’t know. I feel angry at myself. I wasn’t able to help you guys back there. It was like I just was someone useless. And then the Ben situation… You saw him, he’s more than alive, and, god, it felt so good being close to him again, but he’s just a jerk that I want to punch in the face, but I can’t do it since, well, it’s Ben. And not only that, but you saw how those dickheads looked at me. It was just as we were looking at Ben. As if they knew me from before but were gone a long time ago. It made me feel uneasy.” Diego made you stop walking and gave you a tight hug, and, of course, you hugged him back. “And don’t even get me started with this Sparrow Academy thing. The fucking balls that old man has,” Diego chuckled. “Not only he makes our childhood the worst one, but he just discarded us like we were trash. I swear to god…” The weather around you started to change. The wind began to howl. You wanted to show that old man who he messed with that you didn’t even notice you were starting to get angrier by the second.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, calm down, little tornado. You are going to blow us away if you don’t calm down” You turned your head to Diego, and the wind you created messed up his long hair.
“Oops..?” The two of you started to pick up the pace, your other 5 siblings were already walking, not sure where, but you just followed them without any question.
“What are we doing?” Allison asked.
“Ruminating,” Five answered her.
“Why is everyone staring at us?” every person that was walking by or was just hanging around in the park gave the 6 of you nasty looks.
“Because we look like the damn Village People just lost a fight” Diego took Klaus’ hat off him, trying to make him look as normal as Klaus could look.
“Gimme that. Hey!” Kalus attempted to get his hat back from Diego. “Ow!” but of course, Diego was stronger than him.
“You know what? I need to go find Claire. I will catch up with you guys later” Something made you go into alert mode. If the timeline changed… Would everything you left before going back in time still be in this timeline? Ben was just an example. He was back… Well kinda.
“Guys cut it out” Five “attempted” to stop Klaus and Diego.
Allison started to walk away from you. You began to follow her until someone familiar caught your eye. Across the big body of water in the middle of the park was Ben standing just looking at you. He was wearing different clothes, more usual compared to his Sparrow uniform, and he also was wearing a cap and some sunglasses. He shot a smile at you, and you could feel your heart beating in your ears. You stopped hearing whatever conversation your siblings were having. It was like only the two of you were in that park.
“What makes you think they are coming after us?” you heard Viktor said
“Because I would” Diego looked at you.
“Yeah, we did break into their house…Bust up all their nice antiques and shit.”
“Our house” You stopped paying attention. Ben moved his head, trying to show you where he was going so you could follow him.
“And well, there’s also Ben” Everyone stayed in silence after Five’s comment, and you felt everyone’s eyes on you.
“What?”
“Well, let’s be honest, Y/n, we saw how you acted back there. And we also saw how Ben acted….”
“That means nothing. He’s not our Ben, so stop it with the judgy looks” You didn’t want to admit how bad Ben was affecting you.
“Can you just not mention the thing about him, please?
“Yeah. I don’t think the crime-fighting super nerds are gonna let that go.”
“Let’s just think of someplace off the radar where we can lie low and not draw attention?”
“What kind of a weird-ass place are we not gonna draw attention to?” everyone looked at Klaus. If someone knew of a sketchy place, that was Klaus.
“You know what? I’ll meet you there, okay?”
“Where do you think you’re going?” Five questioned you. “Besides, you don’t even know where he’s taking us.”
“Oh, believe me, I know where we’re going. I just need… you know… fresh air,” you started to walk, remembering where Ben was walking to a few moments ago.
“Oh yeah, because being at a park means there’s no fresh air,” you heard Luther, but you decided to just ignore him.
You realize you didn’t know what you were going to say to him. You were pretty sure if you were able to understand he wasn’t the Ben you knew, he understood you weren’t the Y/n he knew.
“Hi,” Ben said when you were close enough to listen to him.
“Hi,” you sighed. You needed to collect yourself and stay focused.
“It’s really you Y/n” “Ben went for a hug. You enjoyed having him this close.
“Ben, I’m….” You tried to free yourself from his hug, but he was stronger than you.
“I know. Just let me enjoy this, please” Ben begged for you to stay just a bit more time in his embrace. He slowly pulled away from you. Ben removed his hat and glasses, and you finally saw his face in detail for the first time. He looked so gorgeous.
“Wanna talk?” Ben grabbed your hand, and you felt a shiver roll down your spine.
“Sure,” he guided you to a free bench in the park. The two of you sat down.
“I’m gonna start. Is that ok with you?” you only nodded. “I was shocked to see you back there. For a moment, I actually believed my Y/n was alive. And well, the way you looked at me… I’m sorry if it took you by surprise.”
“It’s okay. Well, I was also shocked to see you. The last time I saw my Ben alive was when I was 17 years old, so I understand the feeling.” you gave him a reassuring smile, and he mimicked you. You stayed like that for some minutes. Holding his hand, listening to the air go through the leaves of the trees. Enjoying every moment of it.
“I don’t… I can’t lose you again, Y/n,” Ben finally said. “You don’t understand how much I’ve missed you. How I wish I could go back in time and hold you just one more time. And know that I have you right in front of me. I will never let you go. Nothing’s gonna take you from my side, not again.”
“What makes you think I’m just like your Y/n? What if I’m just completely different from her? I mean, just look at you. You are so different from my Ben,” Ben sent a questioning look at you. At his lack of response, you continued. “Well, for instance, don’t take it the wrong way, but you seem conceited. Like, that’s cool, but you just want to show off. Prove that you’re the best-”
“I am the best.”
“See? My Ben wasn’t like that. He was sweet and polite. Someone so caring. He didn't like the attention at all...” You felt a tear roll down your cheek, and Ben swiped it away.
“Well, you’re right. I am different from him….”
“Exactly. Look, I love having you here in front of me. But just as you lost someone, I did too. And to be honest, I don’t think I will be able to lose you again. I cannot go through that again, Ben. So I will ask again. What if I’m not like the Y/n you knew?”
“Well, you are as beautiful as she was. That’s good.” you laughed. “Yeah, maybe she was a little tougher. You seem like a really sweet person. And judging by today’s events, you also have the same power as her. Weather manipulation.”
“How…”
“My Y/n wasn’t able to manipulate the weather indoors. And well, you weren’t able to do much today. And, of course, I also didn’t let you fight.”
“Yeah, what was all that about?”
“As I said. I won’t lose you again. I will do everything in my hands to keep you by my side. Even if that means fighting your stupid siblings again.”
“Hey!” you hit him in the arm jokingly.
“I’m serious” Ben started to approach you slowly. He lay his hand on your left cheek, stroking your cheek with his thumb. “I never stopped loving you, my darling, and I will make sure no one gets in our way. Not again.” you sighed and closed your eyes. His touch on your skin felt good. You felt Ben’s lips on yours, giving you a short but sweet kiss. “Please, don’t leave me, please.” Ben rested his forehead on yours. You opened your eyes and looked right directly into his beautiful, brown eyes, and that’s when you knew… You will never leave his side ever again.

Eddie’s alarm clock screamed at six in the morning, rudely awakening you from your peaceful slumber. You groaned, burying your face in your best friend’s chest. “Eddie, turn that hellish noise off and get your ass to school,” you mumbled.
He groaned, fingers tangling into your hair as he pressed his body into yours. “Can’t I just stay home today?”
“Do you wanna fail your senior year again?” you retorted, and he sighed.
“Fine, fine.” Eddie pushed himself upright and practically tumbled out of bed, pulling clothing off of the floor as he went.
You watched him, averting your gaze and feeling your cheeks heat up as he removed his shirt. You swallowed, playing with your hands, and searched your brain for a conversation topic. “So, the last part of your Vecna campaign is tonight.”
“Mhm,” Eddie confirmed, grinning at you as he pulled on an excessive amount of rings. “Excited?”
You nodded, pulling your knees up to your chest. “Sure it’ll be as beautifully sadistic as ever.”
“You bet.” He leaned over to kiss your cheek. “See you later, flower girl.”
You bit your lip and nodded again, trying to ignore the butterflies fluttering around in your chest at the platonic gesture. “Yeah. See you later.”
Eddie left the room and you fell back on his bed with a groan. You heard hysterical laughter and after a moment your brother Klaus bounded into the room, collapsing onto the bed beside you. “Holy shit, you are down bad.” He cackled.
You slapped his arm. “C’mon, Klaus, stop.”
“I mean, so is he.” Klaus turned on his side to look at you.
You pouted. “Please don’t give me hope.”
“I’m a love doctor, dear sister, trust me.”
You laughed, shaking your head. “You’re a mess is what you are.” You got out of Eddie’s bed and Klaus followed you out of the room. “Hungry?”
“Famished,” replied your brother dramatically.
“Waffles?”
He slung an arm around your shoulder. “You know me so well.”
A pounding sounded at the door, and the two of you exchanged a confused glance. You jogged over to the door, swinging it open. “Eddie’s at sch - “ Your eyes widened. “Five?”
“I don’t know who ‘Eddie’ is, but we need to talk,” your brother said, pushing past you into Eddie’s trailer.
You sputtered. “Where have you been?”
“I just got here,” he replied, touching the random knick knacks strewn across the place. “But we have bigger problems than that.”
Your gaze narrowed. “What pro - “
“Is that Five I hear?” Klaus interrupted, walking into the room.
“The devil himself. And apparently he’s discovered another problem.”
Five sighed, sitting down on the sofa. “Doomsday is coming again.”
Your eyebrows creased. “What? But I thought it wasn’t supposed to come till 2019.”
“I thought so too. Till I showed up right in the middle of it.” He looked up at you. “I think our being here, in 1986, has somehow moved the apocalypse to an earlier date.”
You shoved your face into your hands and let out a strangled wail. “You have to be fucking kidding me.”
“Precisely my reaction.” Five cleared his throat. “Do you have anything to drink?”
“Yeah, but Eddie won’t like you getting in his beer,” you replied.
“Yeah, (Y/N)’s the only one he allows to have his stuff.” Klaus nudged you, grinning.
Five was less than amused. “Who the hell is this Eddie guy you keep talking about?”
“(Y/N)’s boyfriend.”
Five’s eyebrows raised.
“He’s not my boyfriend.” You glared at Klaus, then looked back at Five. “He’s our friend who lives here.”
Five nodded, then leaned forward, expression somber. “I need you to help me stop it.”
You sighed, leaning back in your seat. “Do you even know what caused it?”
Five’s lips pressed together. “Maybe.”
You sat up straighter. “Maybe?”
“I saw… something.” The space between his brows creased as he tried to remember. “It was different. The last one, it was like everything had been destroyed. This one… it’s like something had taken over. Turned the world dark. The sky was red, the air was toxic… and in the middle of it all it was like… a corpse. Like a living, sentient corpse. I… I think that’s what caused all of it.”
You exhaled shakily, covering your mouth. “When does it happen?”
“April fourth.”
“That’s in a week!”
“I know,” said your brother grimly.
“Well isn’t that lovely,” said Klaus breezily.
“How do we stop it?” you asked.
“Figure out what the thing is and kill it?” Five answered, but it sounded more like a question.
“How!?”
“I don’t know!” Five threw his hands up. “Maybe there will be something in… I don’t know, newspapers or something? Maybe evil corpse monsters are a regular thing here!”
“That’s a stretch.”
“I know it’s a stretch,” he glared, “but it’s all we got.”
You sighed, feeling defeated. “Fine. But Klaus, you’re coming too.” You bumped his arm.
“I don’t wanna,” he whined.
“I don’t wanna either but I’d rather not let the entire world die again.” You stood up and pulled your brother with you. “Let’s go to the Hawkins Post.”
~
“Can we talk to the head reporter here please?” Five asked the receptionist.
The woman raised an eyebrow, but nodded, jerking her head to an office on the right.
“Thank you,” you said hurriedly, and ran over to it.
Five knocked on the door, and it opened after just a moment.
“Hi, how can I - Five?” None other than your sister Allison stared at you, wide eyed. “(Y/N)? Klaus!?”
“Oh my gosh, Allison.” You attacked her with a hug, and she squeezed you back with a bewildered laugh.
“Where have the three of you been?”
“Klaus and I have been living with a drug dealer and Five just got here,” you replied. “But how the hell didn’t I know you were the head reporter at the Hawkins Post!?”
“Sounds about right.” She smiled, and invited you in. “How long have you and Klaus been here?”
“Klaus got here in 1980,” you replied, “and I just got here a year ago. What about you?”
“Eighty-one,” she told you. “Why are you here now?”
“The apocalypse is coming again,” Five informed her. “And this time it’s even worse. The thing that causes it… it’s not human. It’s like… some sort of sentient corpse.”
Allison looked a mix of horrified, defeated, and exhausted. “Why did you come here, though?”
“We thought there might’ve been some record of… monsters or something,” he said. “We knew it was a stretch, but we didn’t have any other leads.”
The door flew open and a petite girl with short light brown hair stared wide eyed at the four of you. “Did you say monsters?”
You exchanged a nervous look with your siblings.
“Nancy, what are you doing here?” Allison asked the girl.
“I just needed some writing advice,” she replied. “But that doesn’t matter. This is much more important. Have you seen one?”
Five nodded, looking at her intensely. “What do you know?”
Nancy inhaled deeply. “You might wanna sit down for this.”
~
“Holy shit,” Allison breathed as Nancy finished her story.
“Whoa, whoa, wait,” Klaus said. “Did you say there’s a girl who has superpowers?”
Nancy nodded. “Eleven. She can move stuff with her mind, has telepathy and a bunch of other stuff. I know it’s crazy, but - “
“No, that’s not it,” you interrupted. “Do you know when she was born? Where she came from?”
Nancy looked confused. “I- I don’t know. She’s like fifteen now, she came from Hawkins lab and lives in California now.”
“So she’s completely unrelated to us,” Five murmured.
“What do you mean?”
Allison laughed, but it sounded pained. “Now it’s your turn to sit down.”
~
“Oh, my gosh…” Nancy shook her head, wide-eyed.
“Yeah.” You laughed a bit. “What a coincidence that the place we ended up in was just as fucked up as the place we came from?”
“The weird thing is…” Nancy said, “none of the monsters looked like the one you described. It… It must be a new one.”
“Well that’s fuckin’ great,” Five deadpanned.
“Do you know how we can get to it?” Allison asked. “How we can find it and kill it?”
Nancy bit her lip. “I don’t know. My guess is that it’s from the Upside Down, but all the gates have been closed. But if it ends the world… there’s gotta be an open one somewhere.”
“So we just have to find it,” you said.
Nancy nodded.
“Well, kids,” said Five, standing, “looks like we’re going on a road trip.”
~
The five of you trudged through the forest, cold and irritated after hours of looking.
“Maybe the gate hasn’t been opened yet,” said Nancy, frowning.
“So we’ve been wandering through town for five hours for nothing!” Klaus laughed.
“Apparently,” Allison sighed.
“So what do we do now?” you asked.
“I guess we just wait until it opens,” Five answered.
“Shit,” said Nancy suddenly. “I’m sorry, guys, I gotta go.”
“What!? You were supposed to help us!”
“And I will,” Nancy promised, “but the gate hasn’t been opened yet. There’s nothing we can do until it has been. And right now, I have to go to work.”
“I should get back to work too,” Allison said apologetically. “Bye! It was really nice to see you, (Y/N). Klaus and Five… not as much.”
Klaus flipped her off as she jogged after Nancy. “Welp, I’m gonna go get high. (Y/N), come with?”
“Absolutely.” You hopped off the rock you’d been sitting on and ran after him.
Five threw up his hands in exasperation.
“See ya, Five!” you called.
“Why is everyone in my family an idiot!?” he shouted.
“Yeah, love you too.”
Klaus mockingly blew him a kiss.
“So,” you said, “we have five hours till Hellfire and Eddie should be home in one. That gives us about that long to get absolutely stoned.”
“Hell yeah!” Klaus pumped his fist in the air. “This is why you’re my favorite sibling.”
You grinned and slung your arm around him, laughing and talking your way home.
~
“You two are already high, aren’t you?” was Eddie’s immediate question as he walked into the trailer.
You and Klaus responded with an explosion of giggles.
Eddie tsked and plopped down beside you, pulling you into his lap. “Gimme some,” he said, and you laughed and handed him your joint. He inhaled deeply and let out a sound of satisfaction. “Yeah, baby, that’s the stuff.”
“Yeah, well, the world is ending again, so we might as well get higher than kites,” said Klaus airily.
Eddie’s eyebrows lifted. “The world is what now?”
“Ending, going poof, it’s the apocalypse, baby!”
Eddie, a bit more sober than you and your brother, gave you a nervous look. “(Y/N), do you know what he’s talking about?”
You nodded. “You know our older younger brother? Five?”
“The one who can time travel and teleport? You’ve mentioned him, yes.”
“He saw another apocalypse!” you cheered ironically.
Eddie looked at you in fear. “Like, here? In Hawkins??”
“Mhm!” You leaned your head against his shoulder and entwined your fingers with his. “In one week!”
“Holy shit,” he whispered. “Holy fucking shit.”
“Yep!” Klaus singsonged. “Holy shit.”
“We’re gonna fix it though,” you promised. “We actually know what causes it this time.”
“Oh yeah?” said Eddie, a bit hysterically. “And what causes it?”
“A corpse monster thingy,” you told him. “From the Upside Down.”
Eddie let out an odd, strangled noise and sucked a deep puff out of the joint. “Might as well get high,” he mumbled. “Oh!” he said suddenly. “Chrissy Cunningham’s coming over after Hellfire. For a drug deal.”
You and your brother looked at him, eyes wide. “Chrissy Cunningham?” you repeated.
“Mhm.” Eddie let out a bewildered laugh. “Trust me, I thought I was going insane too. Maybe it’s the world that’s going crazy, though.”
“Sounds about right,” you murmured, shutting your eyes. “Night night, Eddie. Wake me up for Hellfire.”
“All right.” He kissed your head. “Sweet dreams, flower girl.”
~
“Absolutely not.”
Mike and Dustin’s replacement for Lucas was a young girl, and Eddie was less than amused.
“You asked for a sub, we gave you a sub,” Dustin retorted.
“This is Hellfire club. Not babysitting club.”
“I’m eleven, you long-haired freak,” the girl snapped.
“My, my,” said Eddie. “The child speaks.” He aggressively stood up from his chair and stalked over to her. “So. What’s your name, child?”
“Erica Sinclair.”
Your eyebrows lifted, and you exchanged a look with Klaus.
Eddie laughed. “So this is Sinclair’s infamous sister.”
Erica rolled her eyes and looked back at Mike and Dustin. “He’s sharp.”
“What’s your class and level? Level one dwarf?”
“My name is Lady Applejack, and I’m a chaotic good half-elf rogue level fourteen. And I will sneak behind any monster you throw my way and stab them in the back with my poison socougrie, and I will smile as I watch them die a slow, agonizing death. So, are we gonna do this, or are we gonna keep chit chatting like this is your mommy’s book club?”
The group was stunned.
“I like her,” Klaus commented.
Eddie’s unamused face broke into a smile, and he held out his hand for Erica to shake. “Welcome to Hellfire.”
Erica looked at him skeptically for a moment, then gripped his hand and shook it strongly.
“Let’s do this, kiddos.” Eddie took his seat at the head of the table and began the campaign.
The game was intense, difficult, and excellently executed. You couldn’t help but be impressed by Eddie’s storytelling abilities, mesmerized by his expressive mannerisms and eloquently written campaign. Eventually, the only people left were Dustin and Erica, and after deciding to attack, Erica was the only player remaining.
Everyone crowded around her, holding their breath as the girl shook the D20. It felt like it took ages, but eventually she threw it onto the table. You leaned over, anxiety bubbling up in your chest as the die rolled to a stop. 20.
The club screamed in triumph and threw their arms around Erica, jumping up and down at the impossible win. Eddie grinned proudly at the eight of you, shooting you a wink before nodding at Erica.
You ran out of the school, jumping and cheering and latching onto Eddie’s arm. “That was such a good campaign,” you praised.
“Thanks.” He grinned. His eyes darted over the crowd of triumphant high schoolers, proof that Hawkins had won the football game. “C’mon, Chrissy should be by the bleachers.”
You nodded. “Klaus, are you coming?” you shouted to your brother.
“No, I think I’m gonna stay out and celebrate with my bros tonight,” he said with a laugh, ruffling Dustin’s hair.
“Okay.” You followed Eddie to the football field, where, sure enough, a pretty blonde cheerleader was waiting anxiously. “Hey,” you said, smiling at her. “I’m (Y/N).”
“I’m Chrissy,” she said, voice quiet and nervous. “Are you Eddie’s girlfriend?”
Your eyes widened and you laughed nervously. “Oh, um, no. No, we’re- we’re just friends.”
Eddie cleared his throat, averting his gaze. “So, Chrissy, are you ready to go? Remember you can back out whenever you want.”
“No,” she said quickly. “No, I wanna do it.”
Eddie pulled his lip between his teeth, hesitating for a moment before nodding. “Okay. Let’s go.”
Chrissy followed the two of you to Eddie’s van, sitting behind him while you rode shotgun. Eddie tapped his fingers along as he blasted Black Sabbath and Chrissy spoke only in short, quiet sentences. Something was wrong.
You arrived at your destination and slid out of the vehicle.
“Well, this is our castle,” Eddie said with a laugh, opening the door for you and the girl. “Sorry for the mess.” He hastily tried to tidy up with little success. “Maid took the week off.”
You laughed, kicking back on the sofa.
“You’re sure you have it?” Chrissy asked anxiously.
“No, no, no, I got it,” Eddie assured her. “Somewhere…”
You rolled your eyes. “Check the top drawer of my dresser. There should be some in there, it’s where I keep all my stuff.”
Eddie shot you a thumbs up and ran upstairs.
“So, do you like him?” you asked, trying to keep your voice cool and unaffected.
“What?” Chrissy looked at you.
“Eddie. Do you like him?”
She shrugged. “I don’t know. Do you like him?”
You smiled sadly. “No.” You loved him.
Chrissy swallowed and looked away. “How long does it take to… to kick in?”
“What’s he selling you?”
“Ketamine.”
“Ahhh.” You leaned back. “Depends. If you snort it it should kick in real fast.”
Chrissy nodded, then her eyes glazed over.
Your eyebrows furrowed. “Chrissy? Are you okay?”
They rolled back in her head.
“Chrissy!?” You ran over to her, terrified. “Chrissy, wake up, are you all right!??”
The girl didn’t respond.
“Eddie!” you screamed. “Eddie, something’s wrong with Chrissy!”
Eddie bounded down the stairs and over to you. “What the…” He stepped over and shook her by the shoulders. “Chrissy, wake up!”
“Ohh, I don’t like this, I don’t like this,” you muttered, beginning to pace.
“Chrissy!” Eddie screamed. Abruptly he shrieked and fell back.
You turned. Chrissy was levitating, floating up to the ceiling. “Oh, holy shit.”
Her limbs snapped, bending at irregular angles, and Eddie screamed at the top of his lungs. You turned away in horror. She fell to the ground, the anxious girl you’d been talking to only moments before.
Dead.

Scared Silly
Warnings: cursing, bad scary writing, haunted houses, let me know if I missed any :)
Pairings: Hargreeves siblings x sister reader
*not my gif*
Summary: You and your siblings decide to try something different for Halloween this year, and it doesn’t exactly go as planned
A/N: Halloween Event 🎃
Please don’t plagiarize my work, you may reblog if you like but I’m asking that you don’t steal my hard work
Tumblr media
“For the record,” Allison piped up, wearily eyeing the door in front of her, “This was not what I had in mind when we said we would do something fun for Halloween.”
“Well, Allison,” Five said, shoving his hands in his pockets, smiling sarcastically, “It was either this, or resurrecting the dead.” He sent to pointed look in yours and Klaus’s direction, “And we all know how that ended last year.”
You threw your hands up in mock surrender, “Well, excuse me if I didn’t realize that spell would also open up a portal to hell in our living room!”
Luther shuddered slightly at the memory, “I’ll take the haunted house over going through that again any day.” He admitted.
“I think it’ll be fun.” Viktor spoke up, ever the glass-half-full sibling.
“Are you guys sure I can’t just wait for you out here?” Ben asked hesitantly, looking paler than normal.
“Oh, come on, Benny boy!” Klaus sang dramatically, slinging an arm over his brother's shoulder, “It’ll be fun… just don’t be the last one in the room with them.” He made his voice extra creepy towards the end, and the black haired man visibly started shaking a little bit.
Five rolled his eyes at the theatrics his brother liked to put on, “Don’t listen to him, Ben, it’s just a bunch of underpaid college students in costume, none of it is real.”
“Unless it is.” Klaus leaned over to whisper in his ear once Five looked away.
“I still think this is stupid.” Diego finally said after having his speaking privileges provoked by Five on the way over for complaining.
“I don’t remember giving you permission to speak again.” Five hissed, the headache the man had caused earlier coming back to him.
“And I don’t remember putting you in charge!” He snapped back, stomping his foot once against the ground like a child.
“Next!” The employee in front of the building called, effectively cutting off any more sibling banter.
Everybody froze, none of them wanting to go in first until Five rolled his eyes and pushed to the front of the group, “You’re all idiots.” He stated.
None of you even had the strength to protest as you hesitantly trailed after your brother.
You were caught between Ben and Allison, the former gripping onto your hand tightly without a word, and the ladder linking your arms for comfort for the both of you.
The door was opened with an eery creek, and you all piled into the dark hallway with Five in the lead, and Luther in the back, much to his protest.
“Someone go behind me!” He whisper shouted at his siblings, glancing behind him through the almost pitch black room.
“Hell no!” You used the same tone of voice as you replied, gripping onto Ben and Allison tighter.
All of you took slow, calculated steps forward, even Five had faltered a bit at the fact that nothing had happened yet.
Klaus dramatically threw his arms around Diego’s waist in terror and pulled himself into his brothers chest.
“Get off me,” The man hissed, flinging his hands away from him.
The long haired man stumbled back, but instead of hitting a wall, he hit a man who was dressed entirely in black, except for a mask of pure white that lit up all of a sudden, having gone completely unnoticed until then.
“Jesus! Klaus!” Diego cried, blindly flailing around until he caught onto his brother's arm and pulled him back towards him.
Klaus let out a mix between a shriek and wail, stumbling back into the group as you and Allison in sync let out yelps of surprise and Ben screamed in shock.
The man in the mask stood completely still, but titled his bright mask to the side as if he were staring at the siblings.
“No, no, no, nope,” Luther kept repeating, hurriedly ushering his family out of the room, muscles tensing as the masked man continued to stare after them.
By then, he wasn’t the only one that was tense. Five had taken his hands out of his pockets and Ben looked right about ready to faint.
Immediately after stepping into the next room, the sound of crazed laughter filled all of your ears, and the grip Ben had on your hand had begun to make you lose feeling.
“Just me,” Viktor quickly whispered into your ear over the noise before grabbing onto your shoulder, the total darkness making you two not want to get separated.
“This is fucking insane.” Diego said, wavering voice letting the others know that he was scared as well.
Then, without warning or so much as a sound, a dark, unrecognizable figure popped up right in front of you, screaming in your face.
A scream of your own left your lips as you stumbled back, accidently slipping out of all three of your siblings' grips and just barely catching yourself right before you hit the ground.
“Y/n!” Everyone called out in sync, worry filling their features.
The maniacal laughter returned and your eyes turned to the woman who’s dark silhouette was shaking, “Y/n! Y/n! Y/n!” She shrieked over and over again.
Ben had finally passed out and fallen into Allison’s hold, who was supporting his weight completely as he lost whatever little strength had been keeping him up in the first place.
Viktor stumbled over to you, grabbing onto your arm and pulling against it so that you would stand up, Five quickly rushing over and doing the same with the other one.
“That’s it!” He announced over the woman’s continual taunting, finally able to help his brother haul you to your feet, “We’re out of here!”
None of you had to be told twice as your eyes locked onto the large ‘exit’ sign in the corner for anyone who wanted to leave early and practically knocked the door off the hinges as you all piled out into the dark night.
The door slammed behind all of you, and it was silent for a moment as you all bent over and tried to catch your breaths, Ben having woken up as well.
“So,” You finally panted out, “Can anyone else go for some apple pie right now?” You asked as if nothing happened.
Diego went along with it and nodded, straightening out and running a hand through his hair, “Yeah, I wouldn’t mind a slice right now.”
One by one, all of your siblings chorused their own agreements, too embarrassed to acknowledge what had just happened.
And so, you all made your way to the closest grocery store on Halloween night, acting as if none of you had just been scared out of your minds in a cheap haunted house.

“What does the winner get?” TUA?
A/N: Set around the very beginning of S3.
Tumblr media
“What does the winner get?”
“A big slice of ha, ha, loser to shove in the other’s face.”
“Then consider yourself pied.”
Diego expertly balanced the hotel room’s landline on Luther’s chest. “Twenty,” he whispered victoriously.
Your mouth fell open and you shot your brother a look that most certainly disagreed with his words. “That is not twenty. Your last number was seventeen.”
“Deaf as well as a sore loser? Oh-ho, sis, you’ve got it good.” Diego grinned, the tip of his tongue sticking from between his teeth as he meticulously perched a coffee mug on Luther’s knee. “Twenty-one.”
Luther shifted slightly in his sleep, a graceful snort interrupting his snores. You and Diego held your breaths as a menu and a couple teabags fell to the floor. When he relaxed again with a smack of his lips, you picked up the menu and put it back on his ankle with a proud smile.
“Uh-huh, no, that doesn’t count. It dropped, hence a minus, not a plus.” Diego pointed a finger in your chest. “Don’t cheat.”
“Speak for yourself, knife-boy. You know, we started this as a team. Twenty-three.”
“Allison says our competitive natures clash. Thirty.”
“Swindler!” Your harsh whisper almost roused Luther again, as well as Five and Klaus, who were sharing a bunk bed on the other side of the room. Luther was stretched across a cot that just about fit his sasquatch-ness, and Diego had resorted to a couch opposite. You had set up camp with Vanya and Allison in the second room you’d rented, but the latter was currently on a plane back home to see her daughter and the former had gone on a wander around the massive hotel. You hadn’t wanted to be alone, so you’d joined the boys in their room, and after a barrage of emotion hindering your sleep schedule, Diego had pulled you into a game that consisted solely of seeing who could balance the most random objects on your sleeping brother.
As to be expected, considering your current argument, neither of you were quite sure who was winning. What you were extremely certain of, was that propping a glass of water—Diego’s pride had blown the roof on that one—on the sleeping giant’s stomach had been a stupid idea.
Diego caught the twitch of Luther’s nostril just as the man sneezed. Of course, everything on him went flying, but it was the water that woke him up in a panicky mess, way too sleep-hazed to notice you and Diego as you made a break for the couch.
“Shi—shit,” Luther breathed out, arms raised above him as he attempted to figure out why he was wet and surrounded in hotel object carnage. You and Diego had successfully hidden your guilt, Diego lying straight and stiff on the couch while you substituted the lack of space for his chest. You lay half on him and half hanging off the edge of the couch, your eyes squeezed shut in attempt to maintain your sleepy innocence.
“Did I...piss myself?” Luther’s bleary words pierced the quietude of the room and Diego had to hide his snort. You jolted slightly as his chest heaved with suppressed laughter.
“The fuck’s the noise?” Each letter enunciated by Five was strung together in a slow, sleep-deprived sentence as he sat up in the top bunk and glanced around, the exact image of a small kid. Klaus suddenly groaned in his sleep, grabbing a pillow and slamming it against his face.
“Go’way,” he mumbled. “Fi’mo’mins, Mom...”
“Uh...” Luther, who seemed far more awake now, frowned deeply, took one more look at the littered floor, and wisely deduced that he was dreaming. “Nothing,” he said, lying back down. “Man, I gotta stop drinking a litre before bed. These nightmares are getting wild.”
You decided then that if anything world-ending were to happen while your brothers were sleeping, you would all be well and truly dead.
You and Diego waited a good minute after Luther’s closing statement before letting loose the few laughs you’d been unable to swallow down.
“He’ll be so confused when he wakes with wet pants,” you whispered, lifting your head up to grin at Diego.
“Nothing he ain’t used to,” Diego assured you, which made you grimace. With a light chuckle, he lifted an arm above his head. “You,” he said as he used a finger to gently rub at the corner of your eye, “are running on empty, huh?”
You shrugged, barely cloaking a yawn at the reminder of the sleep you’d been missing out on for the past however long this shit had been going on. Before relocating to the boys’ room, you hadn’t been so sure you’d get any shut-eye tonight, but held in Diego’s arms now, you couldn’t think of anything you’d rather do.
“I think I’m okay for the end of the world,” you said.
Diego smiled and moved closer to the back of the couch, allowing you more space, though you didn’t relinquish his chest as your headrest, which he was more than fine with. “Try and get some sleep. You know Five’ll have us up at the crack of dawn, saving mankind ‘n all that.”
“Hmm.” You settled against your brother, closing your eyes and focusing on the blissfulness of silence. “Wait ‘til I tell him he looked like a kid woken from his lunchtime nap.”
“Oh, yeah. Don’t forget that. Humble him a bit.”
“I definitely won earlier, Di, didn’t I?”
Diego sent a tight-lipped smile to the ceiling. Older brother, end of the world, and all that. He could afford his sister some triumph.
“‘Course you did, babe,” he said.
You definitely hadn’t.

Welcome Back
Relationship: Five Hargreeves x Female Reader
Fandom: The Umbrella Academy
Warnings: Cussing, sarcasm, spoilers for season 1
— — — —
Tumblr media
Seeing a family member could be many things. It could be traumatizing. It could be exciting. It could even be crazy. Well, knowing my family, it could be anything but any of those options. As kids, an important family member ran away. To be more specific…he disappeared. I think about him everyday.
But now…now I think I’m hallucinating him.
“Shit…I should really get a therapist…” I mumble, glancing at my brother at the end of the store aisle. Of course, he was a hallucination. He looked just how he left. A thirteen year old Five Hargreeves.
He gave me a wide smile, one I haven’t seen in a very long time. His hands were stuck in his pockets as he strode towards me. “(Y/N)...it’s great to see you.”
I look at my surroundings to make sure nobody would think I’m crazy. I then slowly put the few cans of food that were in my hands on the shelf where they belong, trying to look as normal as possible. “And he talks? What did Klaus put in my food…?”
Five looks around in confusion, still keeping his smile. “Are you…okay, (Y/N)?”
I lean in towards him since he and I are the same height. “Would you go away? I don’t need hallucinations in my life right now.” I whispered to him.
He scoffs. “You think I’m…” He paused. He grabs my arm a little roughly, but nothing to cause a bruise. He almost yanked me out of my spot. “It’s really me!”
My eyes widened at his little show. He’s real. “Oh my god…Five?” My arms wrap around him tightly in a surprise hug. He grumbles at the contact but lightly taps my back in somewhat comfort.
“Yeah. yeah, it’s me.” His smile seemed to be fake, or in some kind of sarcasm style.
“How are you here? And why are you…like this?” I point out.
He looks around while he fidgets. “Long story. I came here to talk to you about something.”
I frown. He really hasn’t changed. “Oh, really? What is it?” I walk across the aisle to grab a couple more cans and head back to my spot. Five followed me around like a baby chick. Well, maybe an angry one.
“The family is back together at home. An apoco-”
“-What? Everyone got back together? When?” I interrupted him. A few more cans are grabbed from the cart.
“You didn’t know? Dad’s funeral.” Five probably got tired of me walking back and forth as he grabbed the box full of cans I was grabbing from. I thanked him quietly while I listened. “He’s dead. A heart attack.”
“Dad died? That’s…interesting.” I shrug my shoulders. “I left as soon as I could. More like Dad helped me move out by buying me a place to live.” I chuckle.
Five looked confused yet upset by the news. “He just…let you leave?”
“Well, yeah. I don’t have any powers, remember?”
“Right. Anyways. There’s an apocalypse coming-”
“-What?!” I jump.
He sighs in agitation. “Would you stop interrupting me?” At this point, the box is completely empty. He tosses it to the side, making it into the half full cart a few feet away. I stay quiet to let him finish. “Thanks. Now, there’s an apocalypse in a few days. We need your help.”
“Why me?”
“Why not? You’re family, are you not?”
The more we talked, the more frustrated he seemed to be getting. “Look, Five…I can’t. I don’t have any powers.”
“So does Vanya. And she’s waiting at home just like the rest of us. With her family. Are you really gonna stay here working at a shabby store?”
I huff at his comment. “Ouch. It’s not like I can teleport through time and stay as a kid and live a different life.”
Five pinched his nose. “God damn it. I am not going there.” He mumbles, as if to remind himself not to fight with his own sister. “Just come with us, or I’ll drag you there.”
“Okay, that’s not fair. Those aren’t really options.” I fight back.
He grabs my arm once more, but this time he drags me through the store. “I don’t care. You are coming back home whether you like it or not.”
A part of me craves his attention like I did back then. His sorrowful and smartass moods weren’t very pleasant, but they were what made him…him. The other part wishes I never existed. A life in the Hargreeves family wasn’t something anybody would want. At least my favorite brother was in part of it…
A soft smile spreads on my lips. “So…the uniform still fits?”
He scowls at the fact. “Just shut up and follow me.”

Before A Fall [Five Hargreeves x F Reader]. Ch 5 (Hard Feelings Part 2)
SUMMARY: As your life begins to grow around Five's, his attitude becomes a little sinister. When does protection become suffocation and when does taking matters into your own hands become betrayal? (weekly updates) Chapter One - Chapter Two - Chapter Three - Chapter Four - Chapter Five - Chapter Six - Chapter Seven - Chapter Eight - Chapter Nine - Chapter Ten - Chapter Eleven - Chapter Twelve
Tumblr media
Five has a complex plan to communicate to his siblings...just not to you. Perhaps if he had, he might have been able to do less damage.
Tumblr media
Chemical testing below. Proceed at your own risk
Chapter 5: Mess Spectomentator
“-And once it’s through this column, the separated components go through an interface to turn it into something the vacuum in the MS device can deal with. After that it’s through the mass spectrometer and that’s how we detect substances. At that point, I need the software to actually analyze it.”
Luther is clearly lost. Klaus watches with polite, dreamy interest and Viktor’s forehead is wrinkled with concentration Only Sloane looks like she’s following him. Five stands by the blackboard still frozen in a gesticulation towards his ridiculous diagram.
“How long does it take”, asks Viktor, clearly not sure if this is the right question.
“If I were a real chemist- probably a two month study- but I don’t have that time and this is just a pilot- a primer to get public attention. If I had the solvents at home I can probably knock myself up the HPLC device with all of Dad’s old shit, but maybe not the mass spectrometer…”
“Uncle Viktor!”
Tumblr media
Five is gone when you wake up. No morning training today, apparently. You shower, dress, put on makeup and still see no sign of him. Downstairs, you stick your head round Santi’s bedroom door. He’s still asleep. Five has usually got him up for school by now. You gently wake him.
“Where’s Uncle Five?” he yawns.
“He must be making breakfast, come on buddy, let’s get dressed.”
You help him choose an outfit for school that’s partway appropriate, vetoing his initial choice of Bermuda shorts and dress-shoes.
Together you head downstairs, hearing voices from the living room.
“Uncle Viktor!” gasps Santi, recognising his voice. He runs through the living room doors and you follow.
It’s more than Uncle Viktor: he, Klaus, Luther and Sloane sit on one of the sofas. Five is standing before them, clearly paused in the act of explaining something to them.
On a blackboard beside him is an incomprehensible diagram drawn with coloured chalk. Arrows attach a crudely-drawn jerrycan to a complex machine upon which two bottles stand. The output of this first machine filters into one arrow, flowing into a box full of what looks like test tubes. SAMPLES is scrawled next to these. The arrow then follows on from a vertical tube (labeled HPLC) to a horizontal one, by which is scrawled something that looks like MESS SPECTOMENTATOR. Finally, the arrow leads to a box reading DETECTION/ANALYSIS.
When you enter, Five is still pointing his chalk at the ‘mess spectomentator’, but he hastily drops his arm. Santi receives quick hugs from all while you address the adults.
“Hey, you guys are here early." you turn to Five, “I didn’t know Santi needed getting up.”
“I’ve been busy.”
“I can see that. Is this about the soda?”
He nods but doesn’t elaborate. He looks at you and jerks his head a little. A dismissal: Once you’re gone, I can continue.
His brothers and sister-in-law notice his attitude. You see Klaus look from you to him and Sloane shifts uncomfortably. When you don’t obey his looks, he says:
“Can you get Santi breakfast and walk him to the bus stop for me today?”
You know you’re being dismissed, but you don’t have to like it.
“Yeah.” You say, stiffly, “Catch me up later, ok?”
“I’ll tell you what’s necessary.”
His tone makes it clear that this won’t be much.
“Ok”, you respond.
You’d given him an out that allowed you to retain at least some dignity in front of his siblings, (some sort of illusion of equality). You're good enough to suck his dick but not to tell his plans? You feel absolutely no guilt in being passive aggressive now. Fuck him.
"I’ll just keep my eye on the domestic matters and then I'll sit by the door waiting for you to get home. Like a faithful labrador, yeah?"
The sting lands. You see the darkness flash in his eyes as he remembers your comments on the night of your fight. He's hurt and angry. And you're glad.
Smiling at him sarcastically, you summon Santi with an outstretched hand and leave the living room.
Tumblr media
Klaus makes a noise of mock-horror.
“Oooooh you’re in trou-ble.”
Five exhales, “I’m used to it.”
“Maybe be less of an asshole then?” Luther mutters, just as Klaus says:
“Oooh! Are you doing the whole,” (he puts on a staccato Christian-Bale-batman voice) “‘Uhhhhh you don’t understand the burden of my power. I was in the apocalypse forever and nobody understaaaands- thing? I love that look on you!”
“No,” says Five, clearly annoyed but keeping his voice in check, “I’m doing the: Don’t want to drug myself to stay awake for several days -thing.”
Klaus smiles and gestures as if Five agreed with him.
“Exactly!”
Five ignores this and turns back to the group, his forbidding tone clearly conveying that the interruption is over.
“Up until the detection phase, the process takes an hour at most but that’s where it slows down. I need the proper software and it could take hours to produce the chromatograms. Once I have those it's a matter of interpreting them and then cross-referencing them with the compounds that are actually listed on the ingredients list.”
He puts his hands in his pockets, brow furrowed, and stares contemplatively at the diagram.
Luther, not entirely sure he’s getting this, ventures a question:
“Where can you access the software and get the…chrom-to-grams?”
“I was thinking the Chemistry department at the college. I’m going to have to break in.”
“Ooh, I’m coming!” says Klaus, eyes aglow.
“No,” says Five “I don’t need someone trying to smoke anything not nailed down.”
“But you never did any of this before, right? What if there’s some old ghostie chemist dude we can pump for information?”
This is revelatory to Five.
“That’s…actually not a bad idea…”
He considers and then discounts it.
“But I’m banking on getting in by stealth. I have the advantage of at least looking like a student.”
Before Klaus can protest to this implied slight, Sloane speaks for the first time:
“I don’t understand why you’re talking about building a device when you’ve got to be in the college lab for hours anyway. Why not just use theirs? Won’t it all be hooked up together anyway?”
Five points at her, “True. I'm overcomplicating it. What’s eight hours instead of seven?"
He exhales and sags a little, hips canting backwards and foot tapping as he thinks.
"So this meeting is more of a…reconnaissance thing?” His hands dart into his pockets again, “Has anybody got any contacts at the college?”
They all turn to Viktor, the only one of them who had been to college.
“There wasn’t exactly much need for a chemistry department at the School of Music.”
“Okay. So, I’m just going to have to go in blind. I’ll do what research I can about the building layout, but I go in tonight.”
“Can’t you just…blink right in?” asks Sloane.
“Not when I can’t see where I’m going. I don’t know the rooms well enough.”
“What do you need from us?” asks Luther
“To be honest, I just wanted to run it past you. I didn't want to go maverick and not keep you guys informed. If anything happens, you’ll know why and you’ll be able to pick up where I left off.”
Tumblr media
Five did not tell you the necessary. Unless you count a hastily scrawled note stuck to the front door before you took Santi to the bus stop.
The asshole.
Now, with Santi asleep, you and Klaus are sitting in the living room sharing a couple of drinks. He’s so understanding, so good-humored and so effortlessly beguiling that you forget he’s Five’s brother. Though you tried not to confide in him and tried not to cry, it had happened anyway.
He looks over at the now-erased blackboard and lays his head back on the sofa.
“He’s a prick.”
You nod.
“What’s he doing?”
Klaus waves an airy hand.
“Chemistry stuff. Dressing as a student, breaking into Colombia's labs and doing experiments on two cans of JUICED. One from the school, one from the store. He's trying to work out whether there are funky ingredients in there that aren’t on the label- you know, the sort of thing that might cause kids to sprout tumors. Then he's maybe going to a frat party for all I know.”
“Why couldn’t he tell me that?”
“Because he’s a prick.”
You raise your hands in a gesture of angry disbelief, “I have a friend who’s a PhD chemist there!”
Klaus breaks into giggles “Oh that’s too perfect. That asshole’s probably staking out, stealing keys and you could have got him in fine all along. He really is a prick.”
When he calms down, he becomes uncharacteristically serious:
"You know it's because he loves you, right?"
"Of course," you reply, laying your head back too, "I just wish he didn't show it by being so...patronizing."
"He used to be the same with me. When I was 'over-medicating',” he air-quotes, "He kinda still is. He can be mean. It's how he deals with wanting to protect someone he thinks is..." he trails off.
"...A liability?" you finish for him.
"Yeeeah."
He turns to look at you and his eyes fill with sympathy. Then, tenderly he asks:
"You wanna go take a shit in his underwear drawer?"
You laugh for the first time in a while.
"Y'know Klaus, if we didn't share an underwear drawer, I might take you up on that."
Klaus clasps both hands to his heart.
"You share an underwear drawer? Awh! That is too sweet... And it's so convenient for his panty-stealing thing!"
You both enjoy the hilarity for a few moments, you unsure how he knows about the pair of panties Five had 'liberated' from your apartment that time. Then a thought seems to strike him and his eyes glint with more mischief.
“Did you see the papers today? I usually don't but I saw the headline and I had to get it.”
“No.”
He jogs from the room and returns with a newspaper which he throws onto your lap.
“They’re all like this, but I think this one got his good side.”
'UMBRELLA ACADEMY: MYSTERY MAN IMPERSONATES MISSING MEMBER,' screams the headline.
Beneath this is a picture of Five, looking surly, captioned: 'The public is warned to approach with caution: the man claiming to be Number Five, spotted in a Manhattan bar'
You look up at Klaus and he nods towards the article itself:
'NEW YORK- A man claiming to be the Umbrella Academy's lost Number Five has shown 'disruptive and antisocial behavior in a recent incident at Holbrook elementary school A witness claims that a young man disrupted a meeting held by the school's principal to inform parents about student support measures. "He was crazy," says David Wilson, father of a third-grader, "[he was] talking about pedophilia in the Catholic church, getting my kids tested for all kinds of illnesses. I think he's one of those flat earth nuts. He certainly said the name Hargreeves to me." Reports suggest that the unknown man attended the meeting at Holbrook Elementary and caused disruption with 'unhinged' behavior. A source close to the Hargreeves family has confirmed that this man has been seen entering and leaving their New York City-based compound, but no verified members of the now-disbanded Academy have been reached for comment...'
You've read enough and look up at Klaus.
"What the hell is this doing on the front page?"
He shrugs. You furrow your brow and look back at the paper.
“You think this is the soda company?”
“I guess so." says Klaus, "Looks like they got their tentacles in a lot of pies. It shows he’s at least onto something while being an asshole.”
Tumblr media
Luckily for Five, the plans and blueprints of the chemistry building had been available via public access. Even more luckily for his purposes, the specifications had to be detailed due to the nature of the experiments that needed to take place there.
He sat in the library poring over these until he knew them by heart. He was hoping to simply hide in plain sight and be a student doing an experiment. He had been to a convenience store on the way to the college, grabbing himself a second can of JUICED.
It was easy getting into the lab. All he had to do was lurk until he could follow someone in, walking with the confidence of someone who knew where he was going and had, of course, been here many times. Now he knew the floorplan well, he could have blinked in, but didn’t want to startle any unsuspecting students. Staying under the radar for now, at least, was paramount.
Instead, he kept close behind a scholarly-looking girl as she used her swipe card, simultaneously trying not to spook her by getting too close. As they stepped into the elevator together, she looked him up and down.
He had changed into a pair of Viktor’s jeans and a flannel shirt open over a t-shirt. He carried a backpack containing the two cans (provenance labeled). He feels awkward, as usual, but the outfit helps him to look the part. Or at least more like the part.
“Hey,” says the girl.
“Hi.”
He nods a little tersely, placing his hands into the jean pockets. He tries not to engage in conversation but she’s inconveniently loquacious.
“I’ve not seen anyone else in the labs at this time of year.”
This is great news for getting in and out undetected, but the fact that she’s taking such an interest is inconvenient.
 Who’s your supervisor?”
“Professor Kaufman,” he says, his cursory faculty research allowing him to choose a plausible name.
“Cool. I’m under Doctor Evans.” He nods as if he knows who she’s talking about beyond a name printed in the department prospectus.
The elevator reaches the right floor and he’s thankful to be leaving her presence, although he knows from his research that they will likely be going the same way. He follows her into a PPE room, where they both don protective equipment. Inconveniently, she continues chatting to him.
"I'm Sarah, by the way."
She gives him a small, cheery wave.
"Nice to meet you Sarah.”
It's all he intends to say but she smiles at him expectantly until the awkwardness gets to him.
"I'm Kieran,” he says.
He has no idea why he chooses this. Though, while he thinks this, he realizes it wasn’t entirely random. It was one of the names Grace gave him to choose from when he was young: Kieran, Michael, Shane, Daniel, or James. All were common in Ireland, his birth country, but he’d never connected with any of them.
He sidelines the memory and hurries on.
"The HPLC is down the hall and to the right, right?”
“Um- I think so.”
“Thanks.”
Tumblr media
Now he sits in front of the computer screen as the machine hums and purrs with his two sets of samples. He brought Persuasion with him to pass the time but he hasn’t yet touched it. It’s coming time for the long detection and analysis phase and he didn’t think about logins. Logins! So simple but so frustrating. He's tried all the tricks he knows, but he simply doesn't have the requisite knowledge of the college intranet. He drums his gloved fingers on the work surface.
His mind revolves to the only solution.
He pops his head around the door of the neighboring lab-space, wishing the PPE had pockets he could put his hands into.
“Hi again Sarah”
“Hey Kieran”
“Can I ask you a favor?”
“Sure.”
“Well, I’m a transfer here from University of Chicago and the IT guys never really got my login to work. It's a real pain in the ass. I can’t login to the computer to analyze my results…could I maybe borrow your login?”
He gives her his fake, shark-like smile and she eyes him suspiciously. She's too clever for her own good.
“I’d- if you don’t mind, I’d rather not.”
“It’s just,” he tries, “it took me so long to prepare my samples. They’re in the machine now and they’ll be wasted if I can’t produce output.”
“I can find you the number of the IT desk if you like?”
“I wouldn’t ask you to give me the login- I’d ask you to type it in.”
“Still…”
Five sighs. He was hoping it wouldn’t come to this but, since it has, he may as well turn it to his advantage.
Tumblr media
When Sarah comes round, face down, Five is bending over her. He has her arms and legs tied together and behind her with wires he’s pulled from lab equipment in the room she was in.
“I’m sorry about this,” he says to her struggling, terrified figure, speaking as if he’s accidentally nicked her car in a parking lot, “I don’t want to hurt you but I really am going to need those logins.”
Her cries would be noisy but for the gag he fashioned from the flannel shirt extracted from beneath his PPE. He gives her a while to calm down, trying not to show any impatience.
She tries to talk, tears rolling down her cheeks.
“Promise to be quiet?” he asks. She nods vigorously and he loosens his shirt.
She doesn’t even attempt to dissemble, telling him her login without him having to ask again, tears streaming all-but silently down her face. Once he’s in, he opens the software and sets it to analyze the output of the spectrometer. Thankfully, the machine he’s using is fairly intuitive to the impression he’s gained from research and a little prior knowledge.
“Can…can I go now?”
“Not yet, I’m afraid. I’m going to have to keep you here for a few hours. I may need your help interpreting the output once I’m done.”
“Please!” she seems to cast around, desperate for an out, “I-it's not a specialism of mine!”
“It's identifying compounds. You could do it in your sleep. Hell, I could probably do it in my sleep but I want another opinion. I just want to cross reference them with an ingredients list to identify anything that shouldn’t be in there. In one or both of the cans I'm using.”
He tries to give her a friendly smile, but it doesn't have the desired effect. She sobs a little, but not loudly enough to make him reattach the gag.
While the software does its thing, he picks up Persuasion and begins to read.
After nearly two hours, he notices her shifting. His eyes dart upwards from the book, suspicious that she’s attempting to escape her bonds, but she’s just uncomfortable having been in the unnatural position for too long.
He marks his page, jumps down off the work surface he’s perched on and pulls over a sturdy lab stool.
“Let me fix that.”
She shrinks from him as he bends over, but he ignores this, loosening the wires so that she can move her legs. He pulls her upwards and lifts her onto the stool as gently as he can. He leans her against the work surface so she doesn’t topple over and then reties her ankles to the stool’s legs and her wrists behind her back.
“Better?”
“Yes.” She whispers.
She looks terrified. He doesn’t like to see this. He regrets that he’s probably giving this bright young academic the crowning trauma of her short life. He sighs.
“Sarah, I promise you I wouldn’t do this if it wasn’t absolutely necessary. In case you haven't guessed, I'm not a student. I think the soda I’m testing is giving children brain tumors. Four so far. ”
She doesn’t reply, starting to cry a little again.
“Just a few more hours,” he says, picking up his book again.
At hour four, her stomach rumbles. He reaches into his backpack, which makes her panic until she sees he's only holding a party size pack of Ruffles. These, he shares with her silently, freeing one of her hands. He makes sure that she has over half the pack, (it only seems fair given the circumstances). Afterwards, he pours her coffee from his Thermos too.
When at last the software is ready to produce output, he drags her beside him, both hands retied, being careful to support her on the stool.
“So: here’s our ingredient list and here’s our two sets of output. Some of these are easy to check off and are in both cans.”
They work through it together; Sarah co-operating better than he could have hoped. At last, they have identified all the ingredients save one, present only in the sample he gathered from Holbrook Elementary.
“So…what is it?” says Five, squinting at the screen, “This must be the thing I’m looking for.”
Sarah leans forward, “I think…it should be pretty accurate but I think the software has…guessed. Like it can't recognise the compound. It's indicating ethylmethane but that error margin is huge."
“What can you tell me about ethylemethane?”
“Erm…I think…I think...if we're talking cancer then...it's a mutagen.”

Chapter 1: " Sir Reginald Hargreeves is dead "
~☂~
" 2 hours and 30 seconds... That's enough training, Number 8. We shall resume your training early in the morning, tomorrow " a stern voice told as the female teen in front of him collapsed on her knees and catches her breath, sweat rolled down her face and she quickly swept it with her hand before standing on her feet once again.
" For the past 4 years ever since you woke up, and I've started to train you once again- You've got improvements though when you're using your Gravitational abilities on lifting bigger and heavier objects, your quiver and the way you lift the object are slow unlike before- on the other side when it is used as a shield it becomes impenetrable that is an improvement " Reginald explained, the disappointed scowl was present on his face as he looks at the 16-year-old female in front of him.
The female didn't say anything as she held the hard gaze of her father. Y/n did everything to please the old man when her siblings aren't present anymore. Number 5 disappeared and didn't come back, Number 6- Ben had died on their last mission together not long after Five had gone missing. Luther was sent to the moon just before Y/n woke up from her coma, Allison's busy being an actress and to the new movie that she's in, Klaus – the last time Y/n heard from Pogo, her junky brother was at the rehabilitation. Diego's busy with being a superhero/vigilant job while Vanya's busy with her recital. So to summarize- Y/n was left behind together with her strict father, robot Mother and Pogo.
" How about you're conscious jump? Did you already control your consciousness whenever you use that ability? " the old man asked
Y/n took a gulp as she felt her throat become dry, " I- Yes father, I've been training my conscious jump as per your request but It seems that I have a bit of trouble- But do not worry, I have it under control " she explained carefully, despite the way her heart's beats loud in her chest she waited for a response for her father- in which he did as he motions her to continue.
" I can sleep like a normal person without having my consciousness drift away to the past or to the future unlike before. In regards to my Temporal abilities- it appears to be... the same "
Reginald then sent her a disappointed scowl, " You are still a Disappointment, Number Eight. We just need to further enhance is your Gravitational and temporal, I want you to work on that even harder at the same time work on your conscious jump to bring back Number Five- am I clear? "
" But father! I can't just simply use my conscious jump- I would be stuck once again! " Y/n argue though with another glare she shuts her mouth and lowered her head.
" No Excuses! Do as I say or I will " and with that Reginald turned around and started to walk away, leaving the 16-year-old female inside the training room.
Slowly, the female's knees gave out making her sit on the cold ground. As her heart beats fast, Y/n then let out a sigh before she started to turn her head around the training room and she felt De Ja Vu as she remembered one time when they were still complete- Five was still there, smirking together with Diego and Ben is still alive and always sticks to Klaus and her so they could pester their other siblings, Y/n would be using her gravitational by slapping Luther's - who kept flirting with Allison and while they were talking-  shoulder making him float on air and Allison would be mad at her and she would start to run away from her angered sister.
~~
" Hey, Klaus! look at that two ~ all flirting and shit- makes me want to puke sometimes " Y/n told Klaus as she grabs his arm and turns Klaus in the direction of where Luther and Allison are.
Klaus laugh," Wanna do something stupid? " he suggests to his sister, whose smile turns into a sadistic smirk.
" How many minutes do you like? " Y/n asked, eyeing her brother beside her.
" 5 minutes? give or take? " a voice answered, both Klaus and Y/n turn their heads to their left side to see Ben beside them.
" What are we betting for? " Klaus questioned, grinning at Ben who returns the smile.
" The dessert that Mom always serves after dinner and lunch " Ben answered, both Klaus and Y/n face Ben before nodding their heads in agreement.
Y/n giggled before letting go of Klaus's arm and sprinting past Five who is sitting while Deigo just looked at both Ben and Klaus.
" She's seriously gonna do it now? What if Dad would just walk in and saw?  " She heard Diego ask both Klaus and Ben.
" Yeah, I think he won't be here any minute " Klaus answered as Ben nod his head in agreement.
Y/n held up her hand as she was near to where Luther was before smacking him on his shoulder hard that making him stumble before floating upwards.
" SIKE! " Y/n claimed before laughing hard while Allison let out a yelp in surprise.
" Y/n! get me down! " Luther demanded, but the girl just let out her tongue, annoying the floating male even more.
" Dammit! Y/n! we're talking! " Allison growled before chasing the female
" More like flirting! " Y/n scoffed and quickly started to run away from Allison.
" I didn't do anything when you and Five are flirting! " Allison adds as she tries to catch the short girl.
" Doesn’t matter- I’m bored!! " Y/n throws back still running around in circles in order not to get caught by Allison.
" Argh! I'm telling Mom you're being a brat again!- Now! let Luther down! "
Y/n stops in her tracks as Allison crashes behind her " Now, wouldn't be that, should I say- Childish, Ally? "
Allison wrap her arms around the short girl's waist " I heard a rumour- "
" Okay, that wouldn't be happening! " Y/n announced and active her Temporal power, stopping the time around her. The female grab Allison's arms and unwrapped them from her waist then she walks away to head to where Klaus and Ben are.
" You know, you're going to be in trouble again, shortcake, " A voice said, Y/n scoffed and turn her head towards the unfreeze Five who is still sitting and looking at her with a smirk on his face.
" I wouldn't be in trouble if dad isn't here yet " Y/n replied, instead of heading towards Ben and Klaus, she heads to where Five was.
" Then resume the time again "
Y/n raised her brow at the male in front of her,  Five shrugged his shoulders with a teasing smirk on his face, " What can't do it? too afraid Dad would catch you? "
Y/n snarled and snapped her fingers and the time resumes again, Allison fell to the ground, Luther is still floating, and Ben, Klaus and Diego laugh when they saw Allison fall to the ground. Y/n let out a chuckled while Five chortles at the sight.
" Arghh! Y/n! " Allison growled, making the said female break out a laugh but it was cut short when a voice interrupts.
" What is happening here!? Number 8! Let down Number 1, this instant! " Reginald demand, Y/n then snaps her fingers again making Luther fall to the ground who let out a groan in pain.
" Oops... " Y/n said as she chortles under her breath, Five nudge her elbow, earning the female's attention, sending her an 'I-told-you-so' look at her and a smirk, Y/n just gave him a sarcastic smile.
~~
" Y/n? " a voice called her out in her daze. Y/n shook her head slightly before turning her head towards the door.
" Huh? Oh! Mom! " Y/n said, turning her body towards the door and hurried her way towards her mother.
" What are you still doing here? you should have been already sleeping, dear " Grace told her daughter and place her hand on her shoulder " Come along now, I'll take you to your room "
" Hey, mom... Are you okay? "
Grace hummed in response as Y/n grabbed hold of her hand and stop in their tracks "You're acting a little different these past few days "
Grace looked at Y/n before sending her a soft smile " Why wouldn't I be okay, darling? maybe you're just tired from all the training that's why it makes you think like that. Don't worry honey, mom's okay " Grace reassured Y/n as the girl nod her slowly as they proceed to her bedroom.
As they arrived at the door of her bedroom, Y/n turned to Grace.
" Night, mom, " Y/n told her mother before gesturing for her mother to lean down, so she could place a kiss on her cheek.
Grace in return smiled at her and place her hand on her daughter's head, patting it softly " Have a good night, darling, I love you "
" Love you too, mom " Y/n replied before going inside her room, after she locks her door, Y/n leaned her ear at the door and listens to Grace's footprints until it disappears.
Making a small 'pop' sound with her mouth, Y/n then walks towards her closet to grab her dark grey, worn-out school wool jacket and Five's scarf, she then wrapped the scarf around her neck the faint smell of peanut butter marshmallows and his natural scent made her somewhat calm before putting on the dark grey wool jacket over her. The female then took a gaze at the little bear and doll at the centre of her bed.
" I'll be back later, Dolores will keep you company, aren't you Dolores? " Y/n asked the doll who is beside the bear, " See, she said that she will- Now behave and I'll be getting some coffee " and then turned around and headed straight to the window and tried her best not to make too much noise and push it upwards. Y/n then let herself out before pushing down the window, leaving an inch little opening so she could easily open it when she got back.
With one final wave to her friends, Y/n silently made her way towards the fire escape's ladder and then jump down when she reached the last step of the ladder. Water splattered on her black mary Jane as well on her black socks but she paid no attention to it as she walked out of the alleyway and headed to the destination that she was going.
" Now we go and have a decent cup of coffee, " Y/n told herself as she tucked half of her face into the cosy scarf and then headed straight towards Griddy's Doughnuts shop to grab some of her nightly routine of coffee to go.
About 5 minutes, Y/n arrived at Griddy's looking over the glass door, she saw that Agnes wasn't the one who is on the night shift. It's some female who's too tired to question why a 16-year-old teen is about to order some coffee at 10:30 pm at night.
Pushing the glass door open, Y/n walked inside the dimly lighted doughnut shop, assorted doughnut flavours were placed on display, and the smell of freshly brewed coffee grounds filled the air. A couple of people were either sitting at the table eating some doughnuts or drinking coffee.
" Miss, one black coffee on to go and a glazed doughnut and a cinnamon twist doughnut that's all, " Y/n told the waitress as she took a sit on one of the barstools. The tired lady didn't even say anything but raised a brow.
" Um, do you mind if you can also give me some 4 pockets of sugar?  " she added before sending a fake wide grin to the waitress. Regardless of her confused looked that the waitress gave her, she made her way to make her order.
" Thank you, here, " Y/n said and gave her pay " Keep the change " she added after the waitress gave her to-go order together with her 4 packets of sugar and a stirrer. Y/n then open her cup of coffee and trip open the 4 sugar packets and poured them on her coffee before stirring it and she placed back the lid on top before sliding off the barstool with her doughnuts in her left hand and coffee in her right hand.
Pushing open the door, a gash of cold wind met her face though unfazed by the cold she quickly got out and headed to her usual place. Upon arriving at the highest building where you can see the city lights and have a quiet atmosphere. Despite the cold, the female sits on top of her legs dangling on the edge beside her is her still hot black coffee.
Y/n lets out a hum as she stared at the scenery in front of her. The bustling city- filled with still awake people, car horns at the distance and a faint sound of police sirens that are patrolling around the city is also heard; a cold breeze from the wind greeted her face once again. Y/n lets out a yawn before scrunching her nose, she then hoisted her coffee to her mouth before carefully drinking the hot beverage.
" Still taste bitter " Y/n commented but still resumes to drink her beverage while staring at the city. Placing the cup beside her, she then open the paper bag that held her sweet treats and grab one of them before taking a bite, " This cinnamon twist doughnut's good- I'll buy some more next time "
" I didn't do anything! Please, I have a family and have a daughter " a woman pleaded as she was on her knees begging and crying her eyes out.
Y/n looked at the female before a big grin stretched on her face, a mocking look was present. The woman's face shifted from crying to horrified as she watch her killer break out a big psychotic smile.
" Please, please, I'll do anything you want! J-just don't kill me " The woman begged even more and Y/n just looked at her amused though her eyes were cold and distant.
" The only thing you could do is to die " Y/n happily beamed before letting out a hearty laugh " The Doormouse awaits your arrival! " she added then pulled the trigger, killing the woman instantly as the bullet went through her head.
The smile then turned into a frown, " Aww, Hey! Wake up, we still have a lot of things to do!! I was still going to dismantle you from head to toe!! " she fumed then kick the already dead woman with the tip of her shoe, " Oh well! More fun to me!! " and then clicked the gun once again and pulled the trigger, shooting the dead woman once more till she was satisfied.
Satisfied with her work, she leaned down to the disfigured face of the woman, " There, look amazing "
Y/n stood up and placed her gun back inside her coat, at the holster strap on her chest before turning her back away from the disfigured dead woman and then casually walked towards her briefcase and she disappeared.
Y/n then shakes her head, as she snaps out of her trance there it is again, the unwanted memory that she had again surfaced as her mind drifts off to somewhere that made her remember.
' That was in the past.... and it's an order from her ' she thought before taking a bite from her final doughnut. ' Though I kinda miss it since I could go anywhere, I can't do that anymore '
Y/n then looked at the moon where Luther was, she and he wasn't that close as Luther was shit on her perspective and he pissed her off on some occasions.
" Sup, Number One! How is it over there? I guess you're already used to floating there since there's no gravity there, my practice on you had paid off, huh? "
" This doughnut is so good it complements this coffee "
Hours went by and Y/n was still sitting on the edge still looking at the city lights there was a point where she laid her back on the floor and started to gaze at the stars, her eyes watered as sleep was starting to consume her though she fights the urge to sleep. Only then did a raindrop make her decide to go home, she activated her gravitational ability and jump off the building, softly her foot reaches the ground and then deactivated her ability before proceeding to walk out of the alleyway.
People stared at her wondering why a teenage girl walk out of the dark alleyway, Y/n shrugged off their stares and kept walking, an image caught her attention that made her stop in her tracks and turned to the T.V store's window and read the headlines on the screen carefully.
" Ohh.. " she gasped before she headed back to the academy rather immediately.
"Sir Reginald Hargreeves is dead "
