it’s not in zoro’s nature to be affectionate. at best, the swordsman is stiff and awkward and at worst, cold and unreceptive - still, there are always exceptions, namely you.
because in the confines of the bathroom, where four walls shut the two of you off to the rest of the world and the lukewarm water of the bathtub laps at your bare skin, it’s his touch that consumes you whole. a steady warmth as you lean against the muscular chest settled behind you.
a warm kiss is pressed onto the back of your neck, followed by another on your shoulder, then another until it reaches the soft flesh between your ears and your jaw, goosebumps rising in its wake.
zoro smoothes a hand over your prickly arms. “cold?” he murmurs, lips grazing past your ears.
you shake your head, turning slightly to smile at him. “just tickles.”
the swordsman grins back at you, leaning forward to peck the corner of your lips. “sorry.” he says, without sounding too sorry.
chuckling, you return the chaste kiss but firm fingers grip under your jaw before you can fully turn away, pulling you back for another kiss. then another. then one more that lingers longer than the rest and has you melting in his hold. a small bubble of laughter escapes you when he finally deems it reasonable to release you.
“what’s so funny?”
“nothing.” you giggle, twisting around fully so you can entwine your fingers behind his head. zoro raises an eyebrow asking you to elaborate. “you’re so needy when it’s just the two of us. it’s cute.”
the tips of his ears turn pink, his cheeks shortly following suit. “am not.” he gruffs, jostling you around in the water with ease as he makes room to stretch out his legs.
thinking he’s readying to leave after your teasing, you plant a hand on his chest. “where are you going?”
zoro smirks because who’s the needy one now? “nowhere, just cramping up.” he placates, drawing you closer once he’s comfortable again.
your fingers have turned wrinkly, imitating the prunes you detest so much. still you ask, “stay with me a little longer?”
zoro’s lips find yours again.
“always.”

it’s your scream that wakes him up. a shrill cry that has zoro jerking upright and latching onto the hilt of his swords.
it takes him barely a minute to get to you, calling out your name as he enters your shared room where he finds you wide eyed and backed into a corner.
“what’s wrong?”
a quick scan of the room comes up empty for intruders so he returns his attention to you, closing the distance between you two with a few steps.
there were intruders. just not the human kind.
“c-cockroach!” you cry, pointing towards the corner of the room where sure enough, there’s a cockroach scuttering past.
zoro turns to you, unimpressed. it’s a tiny thing that hardly called for this level of reaction. it most definitely didn’t warrant cutting his mid afternoon nap short.
“seriously? i thought you were dying.” sleep still clings to his voice making it more rough than usual.
your frenzied eyes move back and forth from the cockroach to the swordsman. “please zoro, if you love me you’ll-“ a squeal cuts off your pleading when another one decides to make an appearance. with nowhere left to run, you just push yourself further into the corner, shutting your eyes.
before your scream comes to an end, zoro’s taken care of the situation, disposing off the offending creatures before returning to you.
“god, such a crybaby.” he grumbles, pulling you towards him. a warm palm settles on your back, rubbing up and down between your shoulder blades. “it’s gone now, okay? it’s dead.”
you peer at zoro through your lashes. “both of them?”
“yes, both of them.”
although his words comfort you, you seek further solace in his embrace, grabbing the fabric of his t shirt and nestling into his chest as he continues running up and down your back.
a few seconds pass before zoro pulls back, remembering something. “i thought you were going out?” he asks, recalling the lively chatter over breakfast as the straw hats made plans to explore the port town they were docked in for the next few days.
“I decided to stay in, thought you might appreciate some company.” you grin, mood perking up now that the cockroaches were dealt with.
zoro rolls his eyes, sassy man that he is, and you suddenly find yourself thrown over his shoulder.
“what i would appreciate is going back to my nap.” he huffs, making his way towards your shared bed.
giggling, you give his firm bottom a few pats. “of course, my hero deserves some rest.”
zoro tolerates it all with a smirk playing on his lips, giving your thighs a gentle squeeze. when he reaches the end of the bed, he drops you onto the mattress, chuckling mildly at the disgruntled noise you make. he makes quick work of removing his swords, resting them on their usual spot against the bedside table, before joining you.
it’s only when you’re tucked into zoro’s side that you pipe up again, lifting yourself to rest on your elbows, feeling playful. “zoro?”
he can already tell this isn't about to be a normal conversation just from the mirth dancing on your lips but he indulges you anyways.
“hm?”
“would you kill all the cockroaches in the world for me?”
zoro snorts at your absurd question. “that’s ridiculous.” he scoffs, fixing an arm behind his head and using the other to have you lie on his chest before answering, only because he knows how this goes with you. “yes, i would.”
he’s rewarded with a chaste kiss on the lips and the melody of your laughter. its enough to fill his entire body with warmth.
half an hour and several questions later, sleep still calls to him but his smile remains, content to humour you until your words begin to jumble into one and your breathing evens out into a familiar rhythm, convinced he could do this for an eternity with you.

Suna loves nothing more than coming home from practice and taking naps nestled against your chest. He’ll plop himself on top of you, rubbing his nose below your jaw until you get the hint and start running your fingers through his locks, drawing out low hums of satisfaction that rumble in his chest and escape through his lips, akin to the content purrs of a cat.
His large hands, calloused and rough, always settle against your ribcage, absentminded thumbs drawing soft circles against the material of your t-shirt that’s really his t-shirt. He looks forward to finding out which of his garments you’ll adorn as you welcome him home in the hallway. More often than not, it’s his high school jersey that you’d claimed ownership of the first night you spent at his apartment.
Sometimes he’ll murmur a “talk to me baby.” wanting your voice to lull him to sleep. Sometimes just the steady rise and fall of your slow inhales and exhales are enough to send him into a slumber. But regardless of how he falls asleep, he’ll always mumble a small “I love you.” into your chest, waiting for your soft “I love you too, Rin.” before he lets sleep win completely.

The rain hasn’t stopped all day. Somewhere down the line, the steady patter of raindrops had filtered into background noise, lending you a sense of company in your otherwise empty apartment.
It’s only when a loud crack of thunder pierces through the calm that you’re pulled out of your daze, attention snapping towards your phone when the screen lights up to notify you of a message from the very person you’d been so lost in thought over. Your fingers snatch the device from the coffee table, quickly unlocking it to find a voice note waiting for you. Without wasting a second, you press play.
“Hey baby,” your lips pull up instantaneously at the familiar twang, “Shit, don’t know if you’ll be able to hear me, it’s raining like crazy over here.” The voice note goes silent for a second, only to be filled with the unmistakable sound of rain crashing onto the roof of the gym, echoing loudly in the way it usually did in large, empty structures.
“It’s probably raining over there too, I hope you’re keeping warm. I've left plenty of hoodies for you - not as good as the real deal, I know, but it’ll have to do for now.” Despite his jovial words, Atsumu sighs into the phone. “Ya probably miss me huh?” You catch yourself nodding in agreement, eyes crinkling as a small laugh slips past your lips.
“It’s okay to miss me, but don’t miss me too much, I don’t want you to be sad all by yourself.” He’s half joking, but your eyes prickle all the same. Atsumu had been gone a week now and there was still another week to go so you were missing him, a lot. “If you’re feeling lonely give Samu a visit, you know he’s always happy to have you around.”
Someone’s calling for him but Atsumu continues.
“I miss ya, so damn much, but training camp will be over soon baby and I'll be back to annoy you for kisses everyday in no time.” You hear fumbling and some more shouts for your boyfriend to get back to work.
“Listen angel I gotta go, make yourself something yummy for dinner, i’ll call you after practice alright?” There’s a short pause and you blink at your phone almost accusingly, wondering if it had cut him off. “I love ya and I can’t wait to be back with ya baby, I really do have to go now. I love you.” His words are jumbled and rushed but you hear a quick smacking of lips as Atsumu sends you a kiss, cutting off just as you hear someone holler “Simp!”
The voice note ends abruptly leaving you and your apartment in silence once more. Except you’re smiling, your small giggles filling the room and it doesn’t feel so empty anymore.

The run up to the season is tough, taxing both physically and mentally on Atsumu. The setter had been out of the house before you had woken up, the tepid cup of tea placed by your bedside table letting you know that you had only missed him by 10 minutes or so. It was now late afternoon and he was finally home.
“Long day?” You walk towards Atsumu who slumps onto the sofa. Groaning loudly, he sprawls across the furniture, eyes shutting blissfully. His gym bag was still strapped to his shoulder, half on the couch, half spilling onto the floor making you smile fondly.
“Yeah, something like that.” he mumbles. Atsumu peeks an eye open to ask you “How was your day, baby?”
“A slow one,” you reply honestly, recalling your mundane day. “Had to pick a few things up from the grocery store so I made your favourite.”
The blond sits up at the mention of food. “You’re an angel you know that?”
“So I’ve been told.” you muse.
“Yeah?” You’ve finally made it close enough for the setter to reach you and he wastes no time in wrapping his arms around you, guiding you onto his lap. You happily take a seat, resting your arms around his shoulders so you can run your fingers through his hair. “Hope it wasn't some rando at the grocery store.” he growls playfully, nipping at your neck.
You squirm in his arms, giggling as his nibbles turn into kisses, tickling the skin up your neck and across your jaw. Never one to miss an opportunity to tease, Atsumu purposely skips past your lips, making you pull back with a frown.
The setter grins boyishly, swiping a thumb over your pout. “Sorry sorry.” he chuckles before landing a wet kiss on you, laughing even harder when you scrunch your nose and peel away from him.
“Go put your stuff away. I’m gonna check on dinner.”
“Dinner? When I’ve got a whole five course meal in my arms?”
You can’t help but snort at his lame joke. “Just a few minutes ago you were drooling at the mention of food.”
“Yeah, well now I’m hungry for something else.” he insists, palms smoothing along your waist.
Rolling your eyes, you rest your palms on his chest, creating a safe distance between you two. “Pack it up, Romeo. Dinner in 10 minutes.” you warn, giving him a peck before slipping away from his hold.
Atsumu sighs contently, a lazy grin plastered across his face as he leans back onto the sofa, arms crossed behind his head. “I love it when you boss me around.”
“10 minutes. If you’re not there I'm packing it up and taking it to ‘Samu tomorrow.”
Atsumu scrambles.

“Hajime, are you bored?”
The raven haired man peers up from his phone, instantly locking the device and pocketing it when he sees the concern etched across your face.
Shaking his head, Iwaizumi gives you a gentle smile. It only takes him a few steps to reach you. “No, just checking my emails.”
Unconvinced, you rest a palm on his chest. It wasn’t like you had forced the man to come out with you. Ever the attentive boyfriend, Iwaizumi had made it his mission to spend some time with you after a hectic few weeks of work - even if that meant spending the day following you into countless stores.
“Are you sure? I know this isn’t really your thing.” you mumble, gesturing lamely at the store.
“Baby, no.” he plants a soft kiss on your temple. “I love spending time with you. Even if it means becoming your personal bag holder.” Iwaizumi lifts an arm, biceps curling underneath his t shirt as he lifts a plethora of shopping bags with ease, 90% of the contents belonging to you.
He watches the way your eyes draw towards his muscle and with the tiniest lift of his lips, he whispers. “I’m starting to think you only bring me along so you can have me carry your bags and ogle me.”
Rolling your eyes, you lightly slap his chest. “You’re the one who always insists on coming with me and carrying all my bags.”
Iwaizumi raises an eyebrow as if to ask are you sure?
Scoffing, you offer no solid denial, only a light push that does nothing to move the brute standing before you. Iwaizumi smiles down at you, endeared by the attempt.
“Seriously though, Hajime, I can go around by myself. Why don’t you go home and rest?”
Now he’s confused. It’s the second time you’ve tried to send him home and he’s racking his brain to see if he may have upset you somehow but he keeps coming up blank. Finally giving up, he decides to ask you.
“Why?” he squints his eyes playfully, “You got another man around to carry your stuff for you?” When you don’t respond to his joke, the raven furrows his brows. Calloused palms come to rest on your cheek. “I’m fine, love.”
And sure he looked fine, Iwaizumi was as tough as nails. But not even he could handle the crazy hours he had been working the last couple of weeks and you could tell he was close to running on fumes.
“Ha ha, very funny.” taking a hold of his wrist, you peer up at the man. “Let’s just go home. I think i’ve bought enough-“
“No.” He’s curt and the unexpected sharpness in his tone cuts you a lot deeper than he would have ever intended. You blink at his words, guilt, concern and a flash of hurt painting across your features. Sighing, Iwaizumi rests his forehead on your shoulder, groaning in what you guess is regret.
Your first instinct is to comfort him, so you do. Weaving your fingers through his dark tresses, you let him soak in your warmth.
“I’m sorry, baby. I didn’t mean to snap at you.”
“I know, Haji.”
With a final sigh, he slumps back a step. “Shit, maybe I do need to get my ass home.” he chuckles half heartedly.
Humming, you take a step forward to reach him, mischief brimming in your tone. “Well if you’d just listened to me the first time I wouldn’t be here trying to calm down Mr Grumpy Pants himself.”
“Watch it.” he snipes, no real bite behind his words.
And in all your childish glory, you stick your tongue out at him.
Iwaizumi looks wholly amused. When was the last time someone stuck their tongue out at him? Then, he remembers who his best friend is and any trace of amusement is gone. “That Oikawa is a shitty influence on you.” he grumbles.
“Come on, let’s go.” you giggle, reaching for his free hand to lead him towards the exit.
“Hey,” he calls, softly tugging at your hands to halt your steps, “I love you.”
Despite the gruff texture of his voice, you would never tire of how softly those words would fall from his lips.
“I love you too.” lifting your entwined fingers up, you seal your words with a quick kiss to the back of his hand. “Now, can we finally go home?”
Iwaizumi smiles, fond. “Let's go home.”

You’ve been whining for the last five minutes, all because of a certain brown haired man.
“Let me try, Rin!”
Shaking his head, Suna tuts in mock disapproval.  “No can do, baby.”
“Come on,” you whine, “You’re being mean.” Determined, you reach for the lollipop in his hand, frown deepening when he moves it further from your reach.
“I asked you if you wanted one before we left the apartment. You said no.” Suna pops the sweet back in his mouth, deciding that was the safest place to keep it.
You glare at the brunette but it does little to faze him as he continues towards the elevator. When he notices you’ve stopped walking beside him, he turns to you raising an eyebrow in question but the sly grin plastered across his face tells you he knows exactly what he’s doing.
It takes everything in you to not strangle the man.
Standing your ground, you stay rooted in protest. “Don’t be so greedy, I just want a taste.”
“Nah, that's nasty.” he responds, words slurred as he swirls the candy in his mouth before releasing it with a pop. In any other situation, your knees would have buckled at the action.
Instead, you cross your arms over your chest, insulted. “No it's not! How is it different to kissing me?”
The brunette shoots you a sly grin, mischief gleaming behind his eyes. “It’s not.”
It takes a second for the jab to click in your head before you’re leaping forward to pinch at his chest, his taut skin making it almost impossible to gather much skin between your fingers. He still has the audacity to look hurt.
“Y-you’re such a dick!” you sputter, “Fine. I’ll go get my own one.” Huffing, you turn to make your way back to your shared apartment. “Just know you’re never getting another kiss from me.”
“Come on, princess. I was just joking.” Suna snickers, fingers latching onto your wrist to stop you in your tracks.
“Yeah, well you’re not funny. Have fun never kissing me again.” you grunt, putting all your strength into releasing yourself from his grip.
A large finger curls around your jaw, lifting your face upwards. “What-” Your brain barely has the time to register the hint of strawberry before Suna’s lips are crashing into yours. Before you even know what you’re doing, your arms wind around his neck, pulling him closer. Sweetness explodes in your mouth as his tongue invades your taste buds. Even his lips carry the candy’s flavour, leaving you chasing for more.
Chuckling through his nose, the brunette finally pulls away. He gives your lips a few more pecks before pulling back completely. “There,” he smirks, wiping the moisture clinging to your lips, “You got a taste now. Happy?”
Weaving your fingers into his silky locks, you peer at him through your lashes. “No.” you pout. “I need to try again.”
Hands resting against your waist, Suna walks you backwards until he’s got you pinned against the wall. “Yeah?” he breathes, “But what was that about never getting a kiss from you again?” he smirks, finding way too much amusement in the way you squint your eyes at him.
“Carry on and you’ll see.”
Suna dips his head to leave a trail of kisses on your jaw. “Well I better start behaving then.” You can feel the playful curl of his mouth against your skin. “And for the record, kissing you isn’t nasty.'' He's so close his lips brush against yours with every word.
A shiver runs down your spine in anticipation.
“It’s my favourite fucking thing in the world.”

“You’re crazy.” You whisper yell, careful not to raise your voice past a certain volume. “Is this even allowed?”
Behind what contained the DJ booth a few hours ago, Atsumu is fiddling around with a bundle of wires whilst you shine a torch courtesy of your phone from above.
“Aha! Got it” Atsumu exclaims, “Give me a second. And stop being such a scaredy cat.”
Sending a glare to his back, you shove the blond with your foot making him squawk as he wobbles in his crouched position.
“Hey! I know this ass is irresistible but I’m tryna do something here!”
Gasping, your nervous eyes sweep the empty banquet hall. “Don’t be so loud.”
Finally standing to his full height, Atsumu turns, a bemused smile pulling at his lips. “I’ve literally just plugged my phone into the sound system and you’re worried about me being loud?”
Before you can reply, you hear the click of a button and suddenly the dimly lit hall is bursting with a kaleidoscope of colours dancing along its expanse.
“Oh my god, you’re insane.” you whisper, eyes instantly drawn to the vibrant hues painting the room.
Atsumu only allows himself a few seconds to take in the childlike wonder in your eyes before he’s unlocking his phone, releasing a deep exhale as discreetly as he can before pressing play.
It's only when you hear the beginning of a familiar melody that you slowly pull away from your daze. Instantly, warmth floods your cheeks. Clasping your hands together, you peer down at your thumbs.
“You didn't have to do all this.”
Feigning confidence, the setter smirks mischievously as he ushers you towards the centre of the room. “Come on, I know you were devastated you couldn't get a dance in with me.”
“Yeah well I didn’t even manage to get a dance with my own date so...” You chuckle humorlessly, remembering the way he had been more interested in flirting with the other women sat on your table than you - his date.
You were originally planning on coming to the event alone, but after the endless pestering from your friends, and finding out Atsumu would be bringing along a date, you had decided to take up your friend’s offer and let her set you up. Never again.
“Hey, his loss.” Atsumu scoffs, expression darkening. “You could tell that asshat had two left feet anyways.”
Giggling softly, you nod in agreement.
As you reach the centre of the dance floor, you both come to a pause glancing at the other.
“What- what about your date?” you mumble, focusing your gaze on the undone bow tie hanging down his neck.
You feel a twinge of guilt for taking the man away from the eager woman who had been hanging off his arm the whole evening, but the selfish part of you can't help but revel in the extra attention Atsumu so often paid you.
Before any response, calloused hands slowly reach out to yours, guiding your arms to rest around broad shoulders. Atsumu rests his palms against your back, slowly sliding them down the length of your back, leaving a trail of warmth as they reach your waist where they finally rest.
Clearing his throat, Atsumu begins swaying you, steady steps faithful to the slow rhythm of the song. “She wasn’t a date.” he clarifies.
“Did she know that?” you laugh, finally mustering the courage to peer up at the setter.
You’re surprised to find him facing away. The room is still fairly dim but you can still spot the faintest of pink dusted on his cheek.
“Yeah, told her she was just coming with me as a friend.”
Titling your head in confusion, you ask him, “Then what was the point of bringing her?”
It’s only the two of you and the low croon of the song for a while, and you wonder if your question had been lost to the music, but Atsumu eventually manages a response.
“To tell you the truth, I heard your friend was setting you up.” Atsumu exhales, pools of brunette finally meet your gaze.
“Oh.”
The blond reaches a hand to gently tuck away a few stray locks back in place, fingers lingering against your cheeks. With the other, he pulls you closer.
Atsumu feels brave.
“Hey, next time why don’t we come together?”
You can hear the softening of the music as the song comes to an end. Naturally, the two of you come to halt but Atsumu’s arms feel more welcoming than ever. The next song begins and you release a slow breath of relief that it’s fitting of the situation.
As the melody carries your feet, a slow dance begins, again and you smile.
“Yeah, I’d like that.”

You’re used to Atsumu’s loud declarations of love.
The man never shied away from letting the world know just how crazy he was about you. Whether it was his instagram that featured more of you than himself or pda that had older women sending admonishing looks his way, Atsumu always had grand ways of expressing his feelings.
But it's the moments where there are only slow breaths and the last embers of the sun seeping into the room, that you feel it’s presence, pure and unfiltered.
“Look at you,” Atsumu murmurs, tender gaze casting warmth upon your skin. “Luckiest man alive.”
There’s more warmth, all centering around your cheeks. You’re tempted to bury yourself into your pillow but the blond is already shuffling closer to you, finding your bashful expression all the more captivating. The bed creaks under his movement but it's all lost to you as he brushes the tip of his nose up your jawline.
“Feels like I’m dreaming when I’m with you,” his lips quirk slightly, “sometimes I want to ask someone to pinch me. But I don’t want to wake up if it is.”
You have to respond to that, so with a small giggle you poke his chest. “Who did you pick that up from? Is Suna still sending you pick up lines from that awful website?”
Atsumu pulls back, half offended you would compare his heartfelt words to that garbage and half confused as to how you even knew about that incident. “Hey! That was one time in high school and I never used that damned site again.” he grumbles.
Although at his expense, your laughter has the man perking up already. You place a hand on his chest to soothe him and he’s quick to entwine your fingers together, never missing an opportunity to feel closer to you.
“Well did it work?”
“Nah. Apparently asking someone to feel your shirt because it’s made out of boyfriend material is not the move.”
Images of a teenage Miya Atsumu sauntering up to whichever poor soul had to endure his awkward flirting flash through your mind inciting more laughter from you. “Good,” you chuckle, squeezing his hand, “Now I have you all to myself. You’re too much of a dork to land anyone else.”
“Well I managed to land you.” Atsumu scoffs matter-of-factly. “That’s all that matters anyways, wouldn’t want anyone else. You’re my prize. For what, I don't know, but I’ll take it. There’s no one better- nothing better for me out there than you. You’re my-”
He doesn't get the chance to finish his impassioned speech as your laughter cuts through to the room. Atsumu’s lips curl into a grin, he’s all too happy to watch you collapse onto your sides with amusement.
As the remaining giggles bubble past your lips, you perch your chin on his chest, eyeing him playfully. “You mean all that?”
“Yes!” he enthuses, then more gently “I mean it.”
The room is almost in complete darkness, the both of you too reluctant to pull away from the other to flip a switch a mere five steps away. But the descending sun is generous, leaving behind just enough lumination to capture the absolute certainty with which Atsumu looks at you.
“Tsumu…” Your words seem to have escaped you but the delicate calling of his name is enough to spread warmth inside his chest. It’s all he needs to hear.
Your fingers reach for him, resting against his cheek and Atsumu leans into the touch. “I know.” he smiles, turning to press a kiss against your wrist.
Just like you, Atsumu doesn’t need grand gestures. He’s content to spend the rest of his life feeling your love in even the simplest of things.
Warm fingers pressed against his cheeks.
Hushed whispers of his name.
Slow breaths as the last embers of the sun seep into the room.
