yknow i never noticed the sheer rareness of images having ids or alt text on this website until i started adding alt text to my art (and trying to remember to add it to any images i post in general, especially text screenshots) and that makes me kinda sad

#i started writing alt texts for mastodon and then just decided might as well copy and paste them around my other socials when i cross post #but it confused me how people can be intimidated out of writing them? like idk #i personally get a fulfilling sort of satisfaction from verbally describing things. it feels adjacent to info-dumping #so i feel kinda useless when people are like ''how?'' and im just like ''idk just describe it?'' cause it makes sense TO ME #anyways #good diagram for it! ive also heard it boiled down to ''medium - subject - tone'' but i find i like a little more info that just that #reblogs #not art #alt text

So, at some point in the middle of the war, the group that Lee is with gets lured into an ambush and captured. The regular elves and such get tortured for information, some of the more useless ones are executed as an example, but the handful of Demi-yara (including Lee) are kept aside for a different purpose

somebody working with the group of captors is a sort of evil scientist type (tbh im still working on his character) and he's interested in the Demi-yara for his research. He's made some sort of deal with someone in power with the army to get inside and be given prisoners for his work. Demi-yara are relatively rare (at least on this continent) and have some extreme physical variety amongst them, so this guy wants to pick them apart, literally, dissect them for his research, diagram their biology and learn how they tik, etc.

when guards came to take the next prisoner to the chopping block (so to speak), they started going for Linni (the dragon girl that Lee's been pinning over). Linni's in the middle of freaking the fuck out due to PTSD related to being held in dungeons (its very out of character for her so everyone else is freaked out that she's freaked out). But Lee ends up throwing himself in front of her and they take him instead

So Lee gets strapped down and vivisected 😈 (with no sort of anesthetic either, he ends up passing out from pain several times before the blood loss gets to him.) All his friends still back in the like holding cell can hear him screaming. There's some sort of magical or medicinal bullshit going on that keeps him alive longer so he ~Suffers™~ (if he died right away the scientist guy wouldn't be able to see how his unique organs function, you know? he wants to see them in action)

Rescue does arrive not too long after, and his step-brother Sael is with them, but when they find Lee they think he's dead. He certainly LOOKS dead, he isn't obviously breathing and with how bad it looks they don't consider checking him for vitals right away. There's a really long quiet sadness for a moment where Sael is mourning his brother before Lee makes a quiet choking noise and everyone jumps to get him untied and stabilized (healing magic is tricky and not a quick fix, he still has a LONG long recovery time after that)

I actually have some stuff i don't think i ever posted! a sketch thing of his little tail (that i never get to draw cause its usually under his pants 😔) and one of those blorbo character sheet things for him

He's my second longest running OC and I love him dearly (ill put more of it under the cut)

he still doesn't have a proper reference sheet, i need to work on it

he's a Demi-yara, so he's half human - half yara (and the easiest tldr for Yara is that they are ancient magical Kaiju-like beasts that can shape shift into human form 👍)

but his biological mom turns into a giant lanky bat thing, so he's got his big 'ol bat ears (and little baby tail). he can't echo-locate necessarily, but his hearing is good enough that you can't sneak up on his blind side, he will hear you first

that being said, he was raised by the elvish royal family. I sometimes call him an "ex-prince" but really he was more like a ward of the royal family, an "accidental" adoption, a "by default" friend for the kid-prince. His queen step-mother was a Bitch and Lee is actively trying to distance himself, but he is on good terms with his step-brother, the heir prince, Sael

He's overly polite, a little submissive, and A LOT self sacrificial (which regularly stresses Sael out). Depressed teen turned "maybe not coping as well as he seems" adult. He spends an entire war pining for a girl and it bites him in the ass when he almost dies :)

goddd. i need to make him a proper reference sheet. i know i infodumped a little about him over on Pillowfort but he's been rattling around in my head for at least 15 years. he has so much lore. its all just built up like moss on a rock lol

AWA is an 18+ discord server intended to be a space for artists of all levels, styles and mediums to come and share art, seek critique, share OCs and talk about whump in a community setting! We also run weekly and yearly events.

Why is the server 18+?

The AWA mods wanted to create an adult space where adult topics could be engaged with without worrying about censoring for the sake of minors. We do ask that explicit content stay within their respective channels, but otherwise try to cultivate a nonjudgemental environment.

What events do you do?

AWA currently is running an OC Trade Event, as well as a weekly member spotlight DTIYS. Anyone in the server is free to participate.
