Super stoked to be a part of this unique Project. ❤️🙌 Reposted from @yakjahnetwork We, at Yakjah, are thrilled to announce the commencement of our new initiative – ‘Project Transcendence, Action and Leadership: Mapping peace systems through youth dialogue.’ Representing the diversity of the region, this project brings together 20 young people from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, who going through a process of healing and transformation, will be developing a peacebuilding curriculum and narrative. In another aspect of the project, they would be co-researching on exploring and creating data on connections between inner and outer peacebuilding looking at inner transcendence manifestation in formation of outer peace systems. The project, in partnership with Josie Gardner of The University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, is a combination of both online and offline (ensuring all Covid_19 protocols & vaccination guidelines) workshop modules. Even as the world tries to grapple with the unprecedented increase of those who are in the field of disseminating knowledge and along with it the various terms (though not new and correct when used in the right domain) used by them only to sound 'different' viz. educator, coach, trainer, facilitator etc. it is time to realise that there is no substitute to word and person - TEACHER. Old school as I am, to me the word 'Teacher' sounds humble yet stands solid and encompasses what all the other words (related to imparting knowledge/learning so as to help us be the best versions of us) connote and much more. Ever so grateful to all my teachers and students. Thank you for bringing out the best in me with all the love, wisdom you share and the challenges you throw at me. Methinks, it is only the teacher and the student who can salvage this relationship from becoming transactional in the changing world around us where our ideas, understanding and expectations from what the teacher and a student is and what they should/could be are forever shifting. It has been a tough start to the month. An ankle twist while on a walk/run resulting in a bad ligament burst and my left leg 🦵 is in a cast until the end of the month. I have been told this type of injury may take a year or two to heal but am not thinking about it now and stressing myself more. Wallowing in self-pity (yes I am prone to doing that as well) - its terribly tough to take bath, manage groceries, pains and itches - was not an option. Today was the day to get up, dress up, show up. For the real good news along with the not-so-good news health-wise is that I begin teaching after a year. Such is life as they say! I join Delh School of Journalism - Delhi University as a visiting faculty where I will be teaching the course 'Media, Industry and Governance' for now to third year students of Journalism. Teaching is a space I have held along with my regular jobs and work since 2008. It helps me read and learn, interact and engage with minds from across the country. I thoroughly enjoy it and I hope the students feel and say the same. While I could not have been happier driving down to DU if physical classes were happening, am thankful for once that I could begin right away online in this condition. PS: Grateful for the opportunity for work and more new work is a good distraction for an overthinking head that needs to be silenced. It was a usual manic Monday on July 19. And I like birthdays spent doing the usual stuff (read my thing and old things). This millennial has turned 40. A lot has changed but then the good part is...a lot hasn't... 😂 For instance, my resolve to shed 5 kilos remains. And so do I...remain fixated on trying atta biscuits and sooji rusks for chai from small unknown bakeries; eating as if I were still in college. I still am not zealous about working out either though I have been a sportsperson in school and after. 😎🙄 But, I am budging, though slowly, to acknowledge that my mood swings, hormones and anger do get the better of me. Am managing that and my head. 🤯 On a serious note, post covid it is not fit or ferocious but a 'feeling easily fatigued 40'. Another month or so I am going to get there to use #fitatforty kinda hashtags, god willing. 🤪🤭 For now, I click these "turning 40 selfies" and say, as long as I do not look very different in person from the photos I take, perhaps everything is in its place. 😎🥰😁 Eid Mubarak.
