.JC antis, you can’t just pick every flaw a character has and leave out anything that makes that character “good”/”morally gray” and claim “This is canon”. This is very one sided view of a character. Your shallow interpretation of a character is not superior.
Every character gets uwu-fied by some parts of the fandom, it’s nothing new, it’s all for fun. Stop trying to act like you have big brain and “THe fANdOM ruINs tHiS ChARActER”. WWX in canon is not a uwu character like the fandom potrays either. JC is not a special girl.
Just use “anti JC” tag. Sincerely, what’s stopping you from doing this??
I’ve been thinking it over, and I have decided it really makes a lot of sense if Jiang Cheng is the only cultivator of his generation who manages to cultivate to immortality. Here are my reasons:
Too stubborn to die, especially of anything as stupid as old age.
The terrible tragedy of outliving all your loved ones, you say? Living each day knowing you’ll never see them again outside your dreams? Enduring unendurable loneliness, and somehow going on anyway? That’s not some kind of ‘what-if’ thought experiment, to Jiang Cheng—that’s Tuesday.
Allows him to put off the question of succession indefinitely, or at least until Jin Ling is old enough to have produced a spare heir or two that Jiang Cheng can cadge off of him.
It’s gonna take him at least a thousand years before he’s over that thing Wen Ning said to him about Wei Wuxian’s core. Ten thousand if Wen Ning opens his mouth at year five hundred and thirty-four to remark that Jiang Wanyin can probably chalk up his immortality to Wei-gongzi’s core, too.
I 100% agree with everything you said, you added great points I couldn't put into words! Worth a read into their tags, everyone!!
The whole "were the roles reversed, would Jiang Cheng give his golden core to Wei Wuxian" discussion is so annoying because he literally already gave up on his core for Wei Wuxian. If he hadn't given himself to the wens then Wei Wuxian wouldn't even be able to give his core to him.
But alright, let's talk about the hypothetical scenario in which he has to actively give his own golden core to Wei Wuxian himself. I personally don't think he would. And it's not because he's evil or envious of Wei Wuxian. It's because
He wouldn't even consider that possibility because he didn't know Wen Qing and he would never thrust a Wen to operate such a complex surgery (which is very justified given the fact that Wens would be the ones taking Wei Wuxian's core away)
Jiang Cheng isn't the kind of person to risk both his and Wei Wuxian's lives for a surgery that has only 50/50 chance of success
It's very likely that Wei Wuxian himself would downplay the loss of his golden core and not want Jiang Cheng's, which Jiang Cheng would respect and not trick him into accepting his core
Adding to item 3, Wei Wuxian would also likely tell Jiang Cheng he doesn't need a core because he already has plans and he would turn to Demonic Cultivation either way
Jiang Cheng would rather avenge Wei Wuxian and keep him in a safe position on their sect until he can find a safe way to restore it
In conclusion: this discussion is stupid because it comes from the idea that giving his golden core was a benevolent and flawless act from Wei Wuxian's part, but it wasn't. Jiang Cheng never agreed to it, it wasn't safe, and what spurred Wei Wuxian to do it anyways was his hero complex. He was also very aware Jiang Cheng would refuse his golden core if he knew Wei Wuxian wanted to give it to him, that's why he made the whole set up to trick Jiang Cheng into thinking he's restoring his golden core. And Jiang Cheng doesn't have this kind of mindset, he wouldn't risk everything for one risky surgery that his own brother would tell him he doesn't want and that's not a bad thing.
But if you ask me, "If Wei Wuxian lost his core, and there was a safe method to transfer cores that he wants Jiang Cheng to partake in, would Jiang Cheng do it?", that's a much more interesting discussion to both of their characters.
