I always thought that people doing drugs and getting drunk to the point of throwing up, were rare. I thought they were this small group that every class had, but that they were a vast minority. Now, years later, I realised tricking your mind with substances is as common as drinking coffee: Some people don't do it, but everyone else does it regularly. It is sick to think that the only motivation I have to go through the day is to think that I will be able to get drunk and or high this weekend. It is sick, because most of my friends tell the same story. Asking my parents or any people of older generations, they say it's never been such a huge problem when they were my age. That people didn't drink or do drugs this young and that it's just out of control. It is out of control. I am out of control in a world where it's normal and stil unacceptable. Nobody told me that staying sober was a weird thing to do and just not necessary. Staying sober is an effort that is just not required. Until you lose yourself and hear the voices talking about you behind your back, how "you have a problem" and they don't. For god's sake, we live in a world of hypocrites, that pretend to be concerned about overweight people, but still host a party with so much alcohol that at least five people will get picked up by an abulance before the night ends. We live in a world where being an addict means being repulsive, but drinking is a social activity and being drunk is funny.
