Some Thoughts on the New Pet Sematary Trailer
One of my favorite Stephen King adaptations is getting a remake and I've got feelings about it! What do you think of the new trailer? What other Stephen King adaptations need an update? Let's argue about it in the comments!
Originally I had planned a completely different post for this week but when I saw the new trailer for the 2019 remake of my favorite Stephen King adaptation Pet Sematary, I knew I would have some way too aggressive and passionate thoughts to share with the world.
If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, here’s a link. Check it out, then come back. I’ll wait.
Good. Now that we’re on the same page…

The 4 Scariest Moments of my Favorite Horror Films
It’s October 1st, which means it’s officially the first day of Halloween. In honor of my favorite holiday, the blog is back this week with a post about the scenes that strike fear in my horror-loving heart.
I’ve been a horror fan my whole life. As a child, I could frequently be found in the children’s section of libraries and bookstores searching the shelves for the few Goosebumps or Fear Streetbooks I hadn’t read yet. I reveled in hearing others’ tales of true ghost sightings, and desperately hoped I would one day see a ghost in real life (still waiting for that to happen), and I started watching…

If, like me, you enjoy watching TV that emotionally wrecks you and leaves you curled up in a ball staring blankly into space then I have good news for you! The first two episodes of season two of The Handmaid’s Tale are available on Hulu. Season one ended last year leaving all of us devastated and desperate to know the fate of Offred (or June), who is now pregnant and just led a small rebellion by refusing to stone another Handmaid to death. I wish I could tell you that season two starts off on a more positive note, but it’s just as emotionally devastating. In fact the opening scene of the first episode is one of the bleakest and most terrifying sequences I’ve ever seen on television. I can’t imagine the show will change its tone anytime soon so I’ve compiled a list of simple rules to help us all survive the emotional turmoil this show puts us through. Follow my suggestions, and I promise you’ll feel slightly less depressed.
Tumblr media
This happens in like the first ten minutes. It’s ok if you’re already crying.
Rule #1: Do not binge!
This show is not made for binge watching. Hulu clearly agrees with me on this point since they only release two episodes every week, but trust me no one should watch more than a single episode in a sitting. The subject matter is too heavy, the circumstances too dark, and the images too chilling. If you watch multiple episodes without a break in between I promise that you will dissolve into a puddle of your own tears and fear sweat. Take a break, and return to the show when you’ve put yourself back together and are ready for your heart to be torn open again.
Your heart, your ear, any body part is on the table really
Rule #2: Pick a happy show to watch immediately after
Before you even sit down in front of your television (or computer or phone or however you kids watch TV nowadays) pick out a TV show that makes you happy and queue it up to start right after you finish that episode of Handmaid’s Tale. Once the episode ends, you’re going to be overcome with feelings of despair and darkness. It’ll seem like there’s nothing good left in the world, but your happy show will remind you that goodness does still exist, at least in the universe of that show. I recommend a good 30-minute sitcom, something that’s lighthearted and full of optimism, like The Good Place or Parks and Recreation. Who knows you might even be able to muster up a giggle. (I doubt it though. The Handmaid’s Tale is real frickin’ dark.)
Tumblr media
There is no joy left in the world. You’ll never laugh again after this scene.
Rule #3: No eating during the episode
I learned this the hard way. One of two things will happen if you eat while watching The Handmaid’s Tale. You’ll either become so upset that food will begin to disgust you and turn to ash in your mouth. Or you’ll start to stress eat and then the entire bag of Doritos is gone and now you feel sad and gross. Either eat before you watch and try to keep that food down or eat afterwards and hope that the food will bring you a small bit of joy in this world full of evil.
I know earlier I promised you that these rules would help ease your despair but that was a lie. Maybe my rules won’t work for you. Or maybe this show doesn’t cause you to fall into a deep depression that you’ll never escape from, in which case you’re a monster and I don’t want you reading my blog anyway. All I know is that following these rules is the only way I’m going to make it through this season of The Handmaid’s Tale without losing my already loose grip on sanity, and I hope that maybe they’ll help you too. Happy watching!
Follow these three very simple rules while watching The Handmaid's Tale or else you'll never feel happiness again If, like me, you enjoy watching TV that emotionally wrecks you and leaves you curled up in a ball staring blankly into space then I have good news for you!

Why Trixie Mattel Deserved Her Win
I'm back! Finally bringing you a new post so I can scream about drag queens. Read to find out why Trixie Mattel deserved her win just as much as Shangela!
I’m back! If you know me at all you know I love some good drag. So after the final episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars aired last night, I simply could not stay silent. Everyone’s tweeting and instagramming #shangelawasrobbed and I’m here to tell you why you’re wrong. Trixie Mattel fully deserved her win. The return of the eliminated queens as a sort of tribal council jury was a new twist to…

That new Star Wars trailer looks pretty freaking cool
I'm finally back with a quick post about that new film about something called the Star Wars!
I have to preface this post by saying I’m not a huge Star Wars fan. Yes, I grew up watching the original films, and they hold a small special place in my heart but there are certainly franchises that I care about more deeply. However, it would be foolish of me not to take a moment to at least acknowledge the new trailer just released for The Last Jedi. It looks pretty freaking badass to me. I…

A Tribute to George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead
In honor of the late great George A. Romero, here's why his first feature film is so important
Today, horror film fans all over the world are weeping at the loss of the great George Romero, myself included. Inventor of the modern day movie zombie, Romero’s first feature length film, Night of the Living Dead (1968), is a classic in the horror genre. You can’t claim to be a horror fan if you’ve never seen Night of the Living Dead. (If you haven’t seen it, luckily it’s available on YouTube…

Happy Independence Day Day!
What 4th of July movie are you watching? Read this to find out why Independence Day is my fave
Happy Independence Day, America! I like to celebrate holidays by watching movies, so you know the same thing I do every other day of the year. In honor of today’s festivities I watched a July 4th favorite of mine, Independence Day (1996). If you’ve seen it, you already know that this movie has everything you could ever want in a summer blockbuster: aliens, explosions, the corniest one-liners.…
