Astrology chart is a karma blueprint, state of mind. It works in prediction because most people are still attached to their story. If we are talking about the soul, the freewill, then the chart only works on the outside, and you may be attached to it or not, your choice. Nothing is ever predicted once we step out of a karmic circle. But since most of us are, in that case it is very easy to mathematically see the result. Astrology is a perfect tool for observance, you can see yourself objectively and track your progress. Track how much freedom you gained and where are the areas that are still triggering you. It is the best self help tool I have ever found. This was intended by the sages, that it is used in this way, to set yourself free.

Understanding Rahu and Ketu
In Astronomy Rahu and Ketu are referred to as the North and South node of the moon.
They are not planets, but magnetic points where the orbits of the Sun, Moon and earth intersect causing us to experience an eclipse.
Mythological story of Rahu and Ketu;
Rahu and Ketu’s story dates back to the Samudra Manthan. According to the legend of the Samudra Manthan, the Devas(Gods) and Asuras(Demons) churned the ocean to obtain the “Amrit”, the nectar of immortality. The Asuras stole the Amrit from the Devas. As a result, Lord Vishnu took the form of Mohini, a beautiful woman and distracted the Asuras. On obtaining the Amrit, Mohini distributed it among the Devas.
An Asura by the name Rahuketu disguised himself as a Deva and sat among them. The Sun and Moon god noticed this and decided to warn Mohini. But, Rahuketu already consumed the Amrit. After knowing this, Lord Vishnu severed the demon’s head with his Sudharshana Chakra. Since the demon was immortal, his head and body became separate entities. Later, his head became “Rahu” and the body became “Ketu”.
These two shadow planets are the enemies of the Sun and the Moon according to Vedic astrology.
According to popular belief, Rahu and Ketu chase the Sun and the Moon in their orbits.
When they succeed in catching and swallowing the Sun and the Moon, it leads to a solar and lunar eclipse.
But they cannot hold the Sun and the Moon for long as they too had the nectar of immortality.

They are always directly opposite each other, that is 180 degrees apart. By nature, they are retrograde.
Houses they are occupying are the areas of life that you will focus on, or strive for perfection.
Any planet that passes through Rahu / Ketu points also comes under their influence and is regarded as eclipsed.
Wherever they are in the horoscope they’re gonna bring some sudden and unexpected changes related to those areas.
Rahu is materialistic and Ketu is spiritual force / external vs. internal force.
Therefore, Rahu is always greedy to extract more and more, and Ketu always tries to get away from the materialistic world.
In a nutshell, Ketu is about things you conquered , Rahu is about things you are here to conquer.
When they eclipse the Moon, that prefers to “feel” its way through life, it becomes difficult to manage our emotions.
When they influence the Sun, that relies on our actions for self-confidence, it becomes difficult to manage our self-worth.
Let's talk about Rahu first.
Rahu represents obsession in a person's life. Reason for obsession is to accomplish the things we couldn´t in our past life.
Wherever Rahu is situated in your chart, it represents the area where you are obsessed to achieve things. Also shows what you are running from at the same time, because all that is unknown is pushing us out of our comfort zone.
So the house where Rahu is feels a little bit like “forbidden fruit”. Subject of that house is where your Soul craves graduation for this life.
If you want to know what your true passion is, you should look where Rahu is placed, more than any other planet. Rahu is pure turmoil, because without turmoil there is no transformation.
The placement of Rahu shows our greatest attachment, ambitions, passion and skills we are developing but also our greatest fear of not getting there.
Until you understand and achieve Rahu´s desire in this life, you will not be satisfied.
Let's say Rahu is in your 5th house, house of children. This gives problems in this area, but also a desire for children, an obsession to overcome problems of this house. Your passion about children will be your tool to overcome these struggles and understand the lesson of that house. In that process you will find your inner purpose.
Besides 5th house and children, it can point to any part of life like relationships, health, career, education, money, spirituality…
We get the whole picture by looking at the house where it sits, sign and degree of, planets that are aspecting it, nakshatra...and a lot more. This is why there is a need for a good Astrologer, to put all these things into consideration.
Rahu can be of positive or negative nature.
If positive, then a person works to achieve his passion through positive channels like creativity and hard work.
If negative in nature, Rahu may lead a person toward his goals through negative/illegal actions.
This is why it is essential to understand your North node and direct it´s energy into a more positive approach.
On the other side we have Ketu.
He is the owner of Scorpio and it is similar to Mars. Ketu is about the things you already conquered, like reflection of Mars, in past tense. He is detachment.
Because of that he denies things related to the house he sits in, you will not care about those things in this life.
Ketu, the headless body, is more about spirituality, intuition, mysticism - all things from within, which represent liberation from the material world.
Material or worldly comforts and Ketu do not go along together. This mystical planet signifies true wisdom and progress on the path of asceticism and enlightenment.
In a sense of spirituality and purity Ketu is a benefic planet, but if you are longing for material manifestation you will clearly see it as malefic.
In a way that Rahu functions as our emotional eclipse (so we become outwardly obsessive and infatuated by any planet, house or sign that he influences), Ketu functions as the Ego’s eclipse, so any house sign or planet he influences becomes inwardly withdrawn and repressed.
This is the reason many people in Ketu period become very spiritual, they change.
Lessons which they receive from the outside are making an even bigger impact on the inside. Depending on a house where he sits, it could be through religion (9th), spirituality(12th) or mysticism(8th).
Ketu’s job is to teach us that any search we take outwardly, even the most altruistic, is usually limited and the inner search is the only source of light.
If you allow Ketu to do his job, without becoming negative, or cutting yourself completely off from social norms and conventions, you will have a less difficult time in Ketu dasha planetary periods.
If you can remind Ketu that the perfection he seeks is not possible in the real world, and only in the depths of our inner consciousness, you can flourish in Ketu dasha.

Hello Tumblr
I am Vedic Astrologer, combining psychology with knowledge of the stars. For most of you astrology is just a fun tool (and it is also that) but the true nature of it is to get to know yourself. Be an observer of this game of life, by watching the duality of things. It is nice to be an actor, but being a director of your own story gives you control over your life.
I found astrology when I have been at a crossroads in my life, and it gave me answers needed to continue my path. I was open to make a change and that consultation shined on me like thousands of rainbows :)
Having a tool in your hand which can transform the darkest places and times...it is the blessing one can only hope for. This is why I do this, for myself and for others. Giving hope and understanding when and where it is most needed.
I will post my findings and thoughts here. How the planets are explained through everyday living. How fixed psychology is easily predictable vs. how beautiful is to make your chart “movable” by openness.
Also, I will be glad to interact with you and talk about astrology and answer your questions. Sharing is caring :)
For now, if you want to know more, check my website www.shravanastrology.com
