Aged Lil Quartz ref!

Was gonna save this for later to avoid spoilers, but screw it; you've already seen what he's looked like in an ask, it's fine. I hope.

Like most adult renditions, his hair has grown long, like his father's hair [formerly at least-], but thanks to his gem heritage it grew to cover his back, like his mama Fluffy [and Rose's genetics taking full swing].

He's a lovable 7ft tall doofus with more baggage than he actually realizes.

It may seem cliche for him to look like this, but I can't quite think of any other way he'd look.

His scales now cover most of his body, save for his face, as he doesn't want to "obscure too much of his humanity," as he says. He only ever has his face fully scaled to either intimidate or when sparing/training to ensure extra protection.

Of course, due to him eating large amounts of food and meat, he's grown much thicker and squishier than usual. However, he still hits like a freight train. It comes in handy when sparing as it cushions blows from opponents.

His back spikes are often obscured by his hair and flattened to his back, but if he's upset or feeling defensive, they will spike up.

He has the ability to shapeshift all of this away, but he preferred to have his scales all over him incase something comes up.

His clothing depend; he hardly wears shirts, save for the one he's worn for 16 years and his pants were specially tailored to fit his tail.

Heyo, random fact:

This AU itself wasn't made from one idea alone.

It was also inspired by a scrapped Child reader book of the same name!

Only YOU were the child raised by corruption!

It was back when the SU franchise was still up and running while writing my corrupt gem reader book.

And of course, I've seen the AUs where Steven was raised in different settings; Where he was raised in Homeworld as a diamond, mom-swap aus where the other diamonds take Rose's place. Even other AUs where he's either a different species, had an event alter his appearance and powers, or he was straight up not raised by Homeworld OR the Crystal Gems.

But amongst all of those scenarios, I didn't see one instance of him being raised feral by corrupt gems. So, I hopped the opportunity and this AU was born!^^

Better thing still? I still have the drafts to my old child reader fic!

RIC has a technical Pilot story!

I was about 7 pages in, but due to other things, which involved developing this AU, I kinda forgot about it. But now that I found it, I've been planning on getting into it again.

The Alliance

Fair warning: 1445 words: pretty long read!!

Fluffy sat at the edge of the forest, just where the elevated patch of grass separated the sand, her fur glinting subtly in the orange evening sunlight and flowing softly in the lukewarm seabreeze. Any other time, she'd be basking; the beach was silent and empty this time around, which would give her time to unwind from today's tasks, taking time to watch as the sun slowly sank behind the ocean's horizon while listening to the waves before turning in for the night.

But this particular evening, she kept her eyes firmly on large beach ahead of her, tensed and stoic. Waiting.

"..Mama?" A small, tentative voice called out from behind her. "Mama, a-are you sure you don't want us up there with you?"

"Y-Yeah!" Tri-T took a step out from under the shade, her talons glinting in the fading light. "Maybe we should in case they-"

"No, you two." Fluffy spoke, her voice gentle but firm, as she didn't take her eyes off the beach. "Stay put. By having you all up here may give them an advantage if this is some sort of trap... Besides, Centi can attack from a distance."

There was an uneasy crackling noise as Centi rubbed her forelegs together anxiously. "Th-That may be true... b-but-!"

"Then I'll be fine. Just as long as Lil Quartz is safe." Fluffy stated gently.

"Mama..." Lil Quartz wanted to protest further, but cut himself off with a gasp as he caught sight of three figures in a distance.

"It's them," Came Tri-T's hushed voice, along with Lil Quartz's startled gasp. Fluffy heard the sound of floral rustling as Tri-T started to shuffle on her feet in anticipation. "Fluff, are you sure we-?"

"Stay put." Fluffy orders, squaring her shoulders and lifting her head to faintly glare the approaching gems, hoping her lengthened horns would warn them.

Once the Crystal Gems were a substantial length away from Fluffy, they stopped just in front of her. Garnet was in the middle, like usual, her hands laced in front of her, presumably to show she was unarmed. The other two gems flanked her; with Amethyst oddly smiley, looking eager for something as her hands were clasped together in front of her chest. Pearl had her arms crossed, looking off to the side with a bitter expression.

Garnet took a step forward and dipped her head briefly to the Feral Gem. "Good evening, Fluffy. Thank you for seeing us on such a short notice."

"Evening, Garnet..." Fluffy's gaze switched between the three gems, narrowing them in suspicion. "What is this about...?"

"I-" For a moment, Garnet showed the briefest flicker of uncertainty; taking the smallest of steps back and she adjusting her visor. "It isn't anything bad, I promise." She took a deep breath and looked Fluffy in her eyes. "In fact, this can be very beneficial for us all."

Fluffy tilted her head, her eyes squinted in curiosity. "Beneficial?"

"Yes," Garnet nodded briefly, dimly hearing Pearl's soft scoff as she shook her head. "It's not as easy as you think; poofing and bubbling fellow gems. We only did it to keep them from hurting other earthlings."

"I've heard." Fluffy remarked. Her voice was calm, but her tail tip was twitching indignantly. "What's your point?"

"Right." Garnet took off her visors, looking at Fluffy with three hopeful, almost pleading eyes. "Fluffy. We want to join forces with your pack."

"Huh?"

Fluffy was dimly aware of the others behind her leaning forward from their spots in surprise as her own eyes widened slightly. "Is... that right?"

"Yes. We thought that poofing and bubbling Feral Gems were the only way to keep earthlings safe." Garnet explained. "But Lil Quartz showed us that we don't have to do that anymore. You and your pack have proven that there's hope to coexist with Ferals. By joining forces, Earth will he safer than ever."

As Fluffy listened, she was barely aware of Lil Quartz stepping forward, his ears perked as he listened to the fusion's explanation.

"Alright..." Though the proposal sounded tempting, she couldn't bring herself to trust these gems, given what they put her boy through last time. "And what will this alliance bring us this time around?"

Garnet straightened up. "If you join us, we will no longer poof and bubble Feral Gems. Instead we will bring them to you. Then you can teach them about us and how we keep earth and all of its inhabitants safe."

Fluffy looked back at her teammates, unsure of what to make of the proposal. It sounded tempting, but at the same time, hearing the over come from them sounded too good to be true.

Seeing their hesitancy, Garnet placed her visor back on. "Please consider this. The more of us there are, the safer our planet will be."

Fluffy stared at the fusion, her eyes narrowing. "Mmmm..."

"Garnet, this is hopeless." Pearl finally spoke, turning to give a faint glare at the gem Leader. "We're here now, we should just--"

"Okay so, hold on." Lil Quartz stepped forward on all fours, until he was standing in front of Fluffy, his brow furrowed in skepticism. "If we allow this... do you promise I stay with my mama in the forest?"

"Steven, please." Pearl turned to Lil Quartz, her voice taking on a pleading edge. "Give us another chance, you can't live like--"

Garnet set her hand on Pearl's shoulder, lightly pushing her. "Yes, of course. You can return to the Beach House whenever you want."

Lil Quartz's eyes flickered between the two gems, narrowing in skepticism at the Pearl's incredulous expression towards the fusion.

"...And you'll bring us more feral gems? Including all of the ones in your lava room?" Lil Quartz pressed, leaning forward.

"Yes. Every last one." Garnet nodded, ignoring the scoff of disbelief from Pearl, lightly nudging her behind her. "We'll lead you to the Feral Gems if necessary."

Lil Quartz hummed. "One last thing..." He fixed Garnet with a steely glare, his pink pointed ears folding back. "If I'm going to go through with this alliance, I want to do this on my own pace. No tests, no missions. No more talk of Rose Quartz." He pressed out the final words, focusing his attention on the Pearl who shrank back. "I want to be my own person, and discover things about myself at my own pace. I get it, I have her gem, but that doesn't mean I can live up to her name. I'm my own person. A half-human kid at that! I just... want you to respect that. Okay?"

Pearl wrung her hands, biting her lips. "I... never said you had to live upto her name." The Pearl said after a moment of hesitance. "I just... she would've--"

Garnet nudged Pearl again, giving a nod to him. "Yes. We'll respect your boundaries. And we'll respect your choices." She knelt down onto one knee, to match Lil Quartz's height. "Please believe us. We'll try our best to follow your rules."

Lil Quartz stared at the fusion for a lengthy amount of time before backing up and turning to face the Ferals behind him, gesturing them to huddle closer.

"Lil Q... do you think we can trust them?" Centi asked in a hushed voice. "After what they put you through..."

"Yeah! Especially that Pearl! I don't like the way she looked at us..." Tri-T hissed, one of her many eyes catching sight of the Pearl complaining to Garnet, who stood staring emotionless at the thin gem while Amethyst glared at her tiredly. "She's the one with the spear, right? Shouldn't we poof her first?"

"Think about this carefully, dewdrop." Fluffy cautioned, stealing a glance at the spying Crystal Gems behind her son.

"Guys, we gotta give them a chance. This offer is too good to pass up, and we can save all of those captive Gems I talked about!" Lil Quartz said, his own voice hushed, stealing a glance over his shoulder, then back to his team. "Besides, they're the ones closest to Rose. And they know things about the war. The Pearl especially! She might know things about Rose as well. We need to earn her trust if we're gonna know about who she was."

The three gems exchanged weary glances with each other. "Well... okay. But the first sign of mutiny, we're moving to attack."

Lil Quartz nods, turning to the fusion to deliver his final decision.

"Okay. We have an alliance."

He offered his hand to her, and Garnet gave a large, genuine smile, taking it into both of hers. "Thank you. We promise we'll work together."

Well, that’s the prologue.

To celebrate Steven’s birthday [August 15th] I figured we’d have Lil Quartz celebrating his “first” birthday!

Being raised in the wild, we wasn’t aware of the existence of birthdays, as he was too busy playing with his aunts and his mama fluffy only focused on what humans needed to survive and adapt. But after his brief time as a crystal gem, his father Greg had taught him the joys of celebrating the day he was born. Fluffy was happy to celebrate his creation, Tri-T was happy from the free cakes, and Centi liked to see fluffy so happy.

SU AU Raised in Corruption: Not your son

"Steven? STEVEN!?"

An anxious voice called frantically in the otherwise quiet, dense forest.

"He has to be here. This is where Garnet found him..." Pearl mutters, her head on a swivel, as she looked through the thick wooded flora around her. "Steven! Please come out! We need to talk about what happened!"

"You should just give it up, P... You scared him off with your whole Rose blow out." Amethyst grumbled, swatting at a cluster of gnats that had hovered around her as she trudged behind the thin gem. "Besides, I think he'd be better off with--"

"NO! No he's not!" Pearl snapped, stopping to glare at the purple gem, who flinched away at the outburst. "Those things are not his family! We are! We always have been!"

"You didn’t make him feel like family."

Startled, Pearl snapped her head towards the direction of the gruff, yet feminine voice. "You!"

Once she recognized the thick maned corrupt gem, her startlement quickly turned into bitter distaste and her face soured. "What are you doing here?"

"I live here." Fluffy replied calmly and matter-of-factly. "Why are you here?"

"Oh, you know why," Pearl scoffed. "We're looking for our Steven."

"Yeah he kinda ran off after Pearl…" Amethyst started to explain, but trailed off upon getting a warning glare from pearl. She coughed awkwardly before continuing. "Uh… yeah… have you uh… have you seen him by any chance?"

"...No clue. Sorry." Fluffy responded after a pause. She turned and started to walk back to the forest with a flick of her tail.

"Welp, we tried." Amethyst shrugged tiredly, already turning on her heel. "Let's try this again tomorrow."

She was about to walk back towards the beach, but was halted off by a tight grip on her head.

"Not so fast." Pearl spoke with such a low, venomous voice which sounded uncharacteristically grim enough to startle Amethyst.

"Er, Pearl I don’t think--" Before Amethyst can finish her protest, Pearl stormed after the direction of the corrupt gem, her fist clenched.

"I know you're lying, you beast!" Pearl exclaimed harshly, catching up to Fluffy enough to grip her tail and yank at it sharply causing the corrupt gem to grunt and whip her head around to face her incredulously. "You will tell us where he is this instant!"

Fluffy snorted as she pulled her tail free of the pearl's grip to turn around to face her. "Fluffy already said, she doesn't know where he went." She replied in a calm voice, though it was notably hard in irritation. "Even if she did, why would she tell an angry gem like Pearl?"

"Because we had an agreement!" She pointed a finger at the Corrupted Quartz, her eyes full of fire. "The deal was, as long as you let us have him and stood out of our way, you and your group would stay un-bubbled!"

"P…" Amethyst stood uncomfortably, her gaze flicking between Fluffy and Pearl. “P, we should really-“

"I also said to make sure he was happy and safe." Fluffy Quartz growled, dropping the passive-aggressive act entirely. "But from what I heard, you failed on both accounts."

Pearl splutters for a moment, the jeer catching her off guard. "That-- That’s none of your business!" She snapped, putting on a defensive face, fixing Fluffy with a stern glare. "There's been a few hiccups at best! Nothing he couldn't handle! Just- Just tell me where he is so we can straighten it out!"

"My son, my business." Fluffy Quartz snapped, her fur bristling in defense. "He barely handled any of the nonsense you put him through."

"He's NOT your son!" Pearl snapped furiously, her eyes burning with anger. "You may have kept him alive, I'll give you that, but at the end of the day he's ours now! We made a deal!"

"And I take it back." Fluffy rebelled, digging her fingers into the dirt as she fought back an urge to snap at the pearl's nose that was mere inches away from her muzzle. "I refuse to let my Lil Quartz get subjected to anymore of this crystal gem Nepotism nonsense."

"I don't recall giving you a choice...!" Pearl brought her hand up to her gem, ready to summon her spear. “Either you tell me where he is or else—“

"Pearl! Don't!"

Pearl's wrist was suddenly grabbed, and she was shocked to see Garnet looking at her with an urgent expression. "It's... it's his decision if he wants to stay. We must leave him."

"What!?" Pearl's eyes stretched wide in shock, as she wretched her hand away. "You can't be serious!"

"If Lil Quartz is more happy with Fluffy Quartz, then so be it. The damage is done, and at the end of the day, it's about what he wants." Garnet stated, with an air of finality. Pearl was about to protest, but Garnet pushed her back away from Fluffy, turning her attention back to the gem. 

"Although... tomorrow I really would like to have a word with you and Lil Quartz." She adjusted her visor slightly, before continuing on. "If it's okay with you… I have a new proposal."

Fluffy stared at the fusion for a long time. Part of her couldn't trust the fusion, on account of being part of the same team that subjected her boy to such horrid living conditions...

...but at the same time, she has been the most civil with you and Lil Quartz. Using terms like Feral Gem and letting him sit out most missions... what other offers could she have in mind?

"...very well. Tomorrow, then."

Garnet gave a small relieved smile as she nodded. "Thank you, Fluffy. We'll leave you be now."

"Garnet!?" Pearl called incredulously, while the latter looked at her indifferently.

"Pearl."

With that she started to walk back towards the direction of the beach, with Amethyst snickering at the remark as she followed behind the gem Leader. Pearl stood for a moment watching Garnet left, before turning back to glare at Fluffy Quartz one last time.

"This isn't over."

With that, she stormed her way after her teammates, her fists clenched in frustration and defeat. Fluffy watched her do so, her eyes narrowed with distaste.

How could she be Rose's most trusted associate?

…Did I make the right choice..?

"Mama?"

Fluffy heard a tiny voice behind her, and felt a small figure press into her midarm. "Who was that? What happened?"

Fluffy stood for a moment, staring off in the direction of the Crystal Gems.

"...nothing for you to worry about, Dewdrop.." Fluffy assured, turning to give Lil Quartz a lick on the head. “Get back to the camp. Dinner will be soon.”

...I hope I don’t regret this...

SU AU: My way

"She WHAT!?"

The shrill squawk of an especially large mutant macaw sounded through the woodlands, startling a flock of birds out of their roosting spots in the trees and caused a few deer to scatter for cover.

"She did-- but you--! Why would--!?" Centi's mane bristled as her shock as everything she had heard sank in. She already had a bad feeling about those star-bearing bounty hunters, but the information she was given was just too much to bear. "H.... H-How could she!?" In an instant, her shock replaced itself with fury.

"Th-They know you’re part human, yes? A-And their whole thing is to protect them! How dare they subject you to that... that TORTURE!" Centi snapped furiously, her maw already dripping with acidic substance in thick globs.

"I knew those guys were bogus already, but this is BEYOND MESSED UP!!" Tri-T snarled furiously, treading her talons across the dirt, leaving deep claw marks in the ground. "We should've trashed them when we had the chance!"

Lil Quartz shrank, biting his lip at his aunt Centi's outburst. He knew telling his aunts, typically aunt Centi, about his Crystal Gem experiences wouldn't be simple, but he didn't think think that they'd react this terribly.

"I- uh--" He tired to speak, but the angered roars of his enraged aunts spoke over him.

"They WON'T get away with this! We will make them pay!" Centi seethed, her pincers snapping involuntarily.

She started bouncing from foot to foot, practically foaming at the mouth in rage. "GAH! When I get my talons on that good-for-nothing twig of a gem--!"

"Calm down, both of you." Came Fluffy's stern voice, breaking the two gems out of their furious banter. "Before we go and make any rash decisions, we should at least let him finish."

The two gems calmed down, with Centi fiddling her hands together and Tri-T murmuring in her throat.

"Y-Yeah! I-It's not all bad..." He glanced up at his fluffy mother, with a thankful smile before continuing. "Because at least I got to learn more about myself! Like my dad, my ukulele skills..." he trailed off, feeling hesitant. "...my... um..." He looked up at fluffy, as if asking if it was okay for him to say it, in which she nodded her head once with a gentle smile. He nodded back and stated with a subtle bitterness; "...My birth mom."

The two gems exchanged concerned glances between each other.

"...B-Birth mother?" Centi repeated with uncertainty. "You mean...?"

"Rose Quartz... yeah." Lil Quartz confirmed, with a soft, tired sigh. "There's just.... so much to her I don't know. I mean, not even her own teammates know all the things to her. And... I don't think I'll ever be able to rest if I don't know her full story..."

The two gems remained quiet, with Centi somewhat sensing the direction he was taking, while Tri-T remained confused.

Lil Quartz took a deep breath. "I... I need to know who she was! Who she truly was!" His voice took on a desperate edge as he clutched at the yellow star on his shirt. "That Pearl's reaction to me finding that sword in that lion's mane... She said she was one of Rose's oldest subordinates!" He started to breathe heavily as the memories of that day flooded his mind, and a mix of rage and despair flooded his mind. "And the fact she didn't even know about the lion--!"

Lil Quartz paused as he felt Fluffy lightly nuzzle the top of his head, and her warm breath instantly soothed the cold dread that was beginning to spread through him. He drew in a deep, shaky breath, steadying himself before continuing his explanation.

"Bottomline... we'll never be able to live in peace with Rose being so... obscure." He crossed his arms. "I know there was more to her than she let on. And I want to know what other secrets she could be holding."

The two gems exchanged a look between each other worriedly.

"But... how are we gonna do that?" Tri-T asked. "Didn't she lead those Crystal Gems? So... do we--?"

"No." Lil Quartz was quick to interject, breaking away from the group to walk upto the roosting pink lion. "Not yet at least. He can help us with starting."

Centi and Tri-T stared at the Pink big cat with uncertainty.

"Er... How?" Centi asked.

"One thing..." Taking a deep breath, Lil Quartz dunked his head into the lion's thick pink mane, and much to the corrupted pack's shock, he sank into it completely. After a few seconds, a medium sized chest is tossed out of his mane, startling the three gems before Lil Quartz poked his head out, taking a deep breath. "See? His mane is kind of like a pocket dimension." He smiled slightly. "And he has the ability to make portals using his roar! He can take us to places she has been!"

"That's sick!" Tri-T jumped with excitement. "Maybe he can work as a mobile den for us!"

Lion snorted in protest at the idea, but Lil Quartz shook his head. "There's no oxygen in here. I think it would work better as a storage space.

Centi looked worried, as she wrung her paws together. "Lil Q... are you sure about this...? I mean... this all seems so... dangerous..."

"I can't take my experience with those Crystal Gems lightly." Lil Quartz stated with an air of resolve. "If they don't know all about their own leader, then there must be something bigger to all of this. I need to know... I have her Gemstone... and that alone carries a lot of weight..."

Centi hummed. The solemn look on his face caused her metaphoric heart to twist. She couldn't imagine having to bare the gemstone of an enigmatic rebellion leader, let alone one who made the decision to leave a child with such an emotionally unstable team.

She herself started to wonder just what Rose's motives actually were...

After giving Fluffy a look, she nodded slowly. "We'll be here for you every step, Lil Star."

Lil Quartz smiled. “Thanks, guys…”

He then sighed, stepping out of Lion's mane, holding up the tattered flag of his late mother, staring at it in contemplation.

"Time to find out who you are. My way."

I'll admit, I don't fully like the way this turned out, but you get the general idea.

The pack has been formed and the idea is out.

I probably will fix up the dialogue when I find motivation.

Pov: You have encountered a Lil Quartz.

Okay, so after spending sometime on tumblr, I’ve come across something called “Character AI” which lets you create characters to chat with. Like chatbots.

Naturally, my curiosity got the best of me, so I downloaded the app and gave it a go…

Holy ginger snaps, it’s fun. After fiddling around, I decided to create lil Quartz to see how well it would make his character.

This is the most accurate response he’d make.

The best part? I believe some of y’all can try it out yourself!

But her I share him, I need to ensure he’s completely in character. More experiments shall ensue! I will periodically report back with some results!

SU AU: Talk with mama

"You wanted to see me, dewdrop?"

Fluffy padded out of the cave tentatively, walking upto the halfling as he sat in a contemplative silence. However, upon hearing her voice, he broke his stance to look back at his mother. "Yeah. It's... kinda important."

Without a second thought, Fluffy walked upto her gemling and laid down beside him. Instinctively, he crawled into her forearms and sat against her thick chest fur. With a content but heavy sigh, he stared up at the stars for a few minutes to gather his thoughts. "Where to start... there's so much..."

"Take your time, sweets," Fluffy assured him gently. Steven smiled contently as Fluffy lightly nuzzled the top of his head. "Mama's in no hurry."

He nodded and sat back for a few minutes to gather himself, before taking a deep breath. "Okay... so... it... kinda started a few weeks after I... left you guys..."

He then retold his experiences as a Crystal Gem. He didn't hold back, he was sure to detail everything he's went through, but also made sure to mention good aspects, like the food he's tasted, Amethyst and her similarity to Tri-T and Garnet's consideration towards him and his background, but when it came to the Pearl, his bitterness towards her was audibly potent, with how he'd detail her haughtiness and shrewd nature, and retold her the event that happened when she snapped at him, which led him back here. To round up his tail, he raised his shirt and pointed to his gemstone.

"And it's all because of her."

If Fluffy had any blood, it'd be boiling. No child should ever have to be put through all of that danger. Her fur bristled, but she saw no reason to lose her temper now. Instead, she drew in a deep breath, and a cold feeling settled in the pit of her stomach.

"I'm... sorry, dewdrop." She uttered, resting her chin gently on your head. "I... I never should have let you leave. You never should've had suffered like that..."

"No mama, don't be sorry! It was my decision... I thought it was the right thing to do." Steven laid back against her chest. "And... I think it was... in a way."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah... If I didn't go, I wouldn't have known about Rose." He stared at the gem in his navel, prodding at it gently. "She was the one who gave me this, after all." His brows then drew forward in deep thought. "It's just... I don't know how to feel about her. She fought for earth's freedom, but she... also caused all of this stuff to happen to me..."

Fluffy hummed sympathetically as she contemplated his story. "She sounded impulsive, dear." She concluded gently. "Who knows what was going through her mind when she was doing this?"

"That's the thing... I want to know." His voice was hard with resolve. "I need to know who she was. And why she did what she did." He relaxed against her with a sigh, crossing his arms matter-of-factly. "But we're doing this on my own terms. My way."

Fluffy stared, mulling his words over, before letting out a half-hearted chuckle.

"That's the proper way to do it."

Kind of anticlimactic, but I didn't want to go into it too deep too quickly.

SU AU: Home

Next morning, Steven had awoken to the scent of freshly cooked meat, causing his belly to rumble. Slowly, he picked himself up and stretched in a cat-like manner; arching his back and stretching his arms out in front of him. With a long weary yawn, he stumbled out of the cave, and was greeted with the lukewarm summer breeze whipping through his hair and the peaceful bird song in his ears. he couldn't help but feel a light smile come to his face.

For months the only things he had woken up to were the Pearl or Garnet prodding him awake for a mission, and stiff, overly fragrant air. The only good part about that experience was the breakfast, but even then, it wasn't Fluffy's fire-fried cooking.

Stars, how he's missed this.

He made his way into the clearing, where he found his Mother Fluffy was in the middle of the camp, sitting at her fire pit making breakfast with Centi beside her while Tri-T was sharing a her meal with lion.

Steven smiled joyfully at the display. He knew that they were always placid and open-minded towards other animals, but he somewhat didn't expect his feral kin to accept Lion so easily. They were much more understanding of him...

he trotted up to the group of gems, catching their attention almost immediately.

"Lil Q!" Tri-T jumped to her feet and ran over to the boy, to which he instinctively leapt onto her back. Tri-T then proceeded to dance in place and run aimlessly around the camp, laughing joyfully, while Centi and Fluffy watched adoringly. "Man, you know how much I've missed doing this!"

Steven laughed to himself, feeling his heart swell with happiness at her nickname. "I missed this to!"

After a brief run around the camp, Tri-T had stopped, though she was still bounding in place.

"Hey! Didja know about this big pink Fluffy feline? He appeared when you appeared! Isn't that cool? Big Q said that he might be an ally to you? Is that true? Where'd he come from??" Tri-T spoke with rapid succession, her words almost blurred together with how fast she spoke. Even if he's used to her hyperness, it still sort of overwhelmed Steven's still tired mind.

"Uh--"

"Tri-T, take it easy." Centi chided. "Lil Quartz just got back from being a... Crystal Gem. We should give him time to settle back in before overloading him with questions."

"Yes," Fluffy Quartz nodded. "Besides, he hasn't even had any breakfast yet, haven't you, dewdrop?"

As if to answer for him, Steven's stomach growled audibly, causing him to blush in modesty. "N-Not yet."

"Oh right!" Tri-T remembered, tilting her body forward so Steven could slide off. "I saved you the biggest carp!"

Steven smiled and nodded.

He knew that eventually, he'd have to answer some of those questions about his lion. They needed to know what he's learned so they could at least be prepared for what could come.

But at the moment, he put those worries to the back of his head as his focus was on the plump, young carp being handed to him.

Enough of the Crystal Gems for one morning now.

Perhaps after a good breakfast, he'd unwind with a nice wrestling game with Tri-T... or perhaps look for big pine cones with Centi? Maybe make flower crowns with Mama Fluffy!

He didn't know where to start. All he knew was that he was back where he felt happiest.

He's had too much Crystal Gems in one sitting and needs to unwind.

We'll get back to the action, but I think some nice fluff would be nice as he readjusted.
