Summary: You’d always been told you’d find your soulmate soon. But what if you knew them already?

When you were younger you’d been told a lot that when you met your soulmate that you’d know. When you started seeing your friends meet their soulmates, you felt a little left out.

“Vannie this sucks.” You whined as your friends found their soulmate earlier today.

“I know, I know.” He said as he patted your head. “You’ll find them soon.” And you had no idea that he was right.

You and St. Van as you called him, and your other friends because when you were younger you couldn’t say his real name, had always been friends. You’d been neighbors and before that both of your parents had been friends before you were born. And then to add to that your older sister and his younger brother were soulmates. So you both had decided that you weren’t gonna show off your soulmate tattoos, since both of your parents had been hoping that you two would also be soulmates.

After you’d started your freshman year of college, you seemed to find that there was a lot of people that hadn’t found their soulmate yet. Van had graduated before you had, so when you saw him again you were surprised.

When he told you that he wasn’t gonna go to college, but become an apprentice at a tattoo shop one of your shared friends owned, you were almost surprised. You knew that he could draw really well, but you thought he’d start drawing more. But you really shouldn’t have been that surprised when he had half his arm sleeve done. When he showed you the first tattoo he did, you were super proud. It was a flower tattoo, with water color behind it, it also had white in it to make the line work pop. 

The next tattoo he showed you was one he did for his crush. When he started to ask you how to ask her out, you started to feel like you did in high school. As time went on, you decided that you should just be happy that he liked someone, even though you’d had (should be read as still) a crush on him in high school. He told you all about how sweet and nice she was. She even helped him get more comfortable with certain styles and shade combinations.

When you saw that they’d started dating, you’d realized how big of a mistake you’d made.

“Well it’s your fault.” Lou said as he sat across from you. You were in class waiting for it to start. “You were the one who said that he should ask her out. And even told him how to do it.” You rolled your eyes.

“Yes and you’re also the one who doesn’t have to worry about this because you’ve already found your soulmate.” Sighing, your professor walked in and started to teach.

After you class ended, Van had asked you to hang out with him. So you went to the cafe just off campus, only to be met with him and Jina. Smiling at him, greeting them both, you felt out of place. So when you got home that night, you were so happy you didn’t have to go to class until late tomorrow afternoon. You’d shed some tears, the feeling you had seeing all your friends in high school finding their soulmates.

Waking up you really just wanted to stay in bed all day. The loneliness you’d felt yesterday coming back with a vengeance. Lou walked into your room after you’d missed your class.

“You know, you can thank me later because I’m gonna let you borrow my notes from today.” He said as he pulled your desk chair over to your bed side. “I also know that you’re not feeling the greatest.” He ran his fingers through your hair as you tried to suppress the tears that wanted to fall.

“Thanks.” You sat up, rubbing your eyes and grabbing some paper to write the notes down quick.

“I also brought you some food.” You looked up at him. “Your roommate caught me when I was on the way to class. She said you didn’t look too good when you came home from hanging with Van yesterday and that you’d refused to get up when it was time for you to head to class.” You nodded, thanking him again quietly, and started to copy down the notes.

It really shouldn’t have made you happy when Van and Jina broke up. She’d found her soulmate and had immediately broke up with him. When he’d texted you asking to come over, you were surprised. When he showed up, he had already cried all his tears out, but when you opened the door he started crying again. When he brokenly told you she’d broke up with him because she found her soulmate, your heart broke for him. You pulled him inside and let him cry on your shoulder. After he passed out on your chest, you decided on the one thing he’d been asking you for. You’d let him give you a tattoo.

When you got to VAMPZ Tattoo Parlor you were ready to just cancel. You’d been with friends to watch them get tattoos, but you’d never gotten one. When you’d told Van that you were finally gonna let him give you a tattoo, he almost pulled you down to the shop so he could give it to you right then. He’d had this design for almost 2 years now, saying that it’d be perfect for you. So when you opened the door to see Lou sitting in the receptionist chair, you relaxed some.

“Hey Lou.” You smiled as you leaned against the counter.

“Hey Y/N.” He smiled back. “Thank god you’re here. Van hasn’t shut up since you told him you’d let him tattoo you.” You laughed loud as you heard a loud ‘shut up’ being yelled across the building. “Just fill these couple of forms out and I’ll go drag Van from where ever he’s at.”

After you finished the paperwork, you grew nervous again. You’d let him design the tattoo, not knowing what to get, and let him chose the place for you to get it. You trusted Van to not tattoo a dick on you, but knowing him he’d make it as realistic as possible. When you sat down on the chair, your nerves grew more. When he finally showed you the design, you gasped and almost told him that you couldn’t get this. It was a seashell, but the shell was almost iridescent colored. It was supposed to be the necklace Ariel had in the Little Mermaid since that was your favorite movie when you were growing up. It had an image of the beach inside of the shell, almost as if it was a reflection of what you were looking at. 

When he told you that he was gonna put it on your side, you completely forgot that your soulmate tattoo was on your side. So when you lifted your shirt up, he gasped and looked at you wide eyed.

“What?” You asked as you looked down, realizing that your soulmate tattoo was showing, you pulled you shirt down again.

“You have my name on your ribs.” He said quietly.

“Wait what?” You looked at him in surprise. Lifting the side of his shirt, there was your name on his side. You sat there in shock, realizing that your best friend, and small (read as big) crush was your soulmate.

“Uh.” Van said as he just looked at you. You both decided to talk about it after you finished the tattoo. So the awkward quiet was kinda unsettling since you’d been friends for forever, but now it almost felt like you were meeting a new person. When your tattoo was done you didn’t really want to leave, but you didn’t want to just leave. So when Van, or Geumhyuk, came up to you and asked if you wanted to go to the coffee shop you both liked, you knew that everything was going to be okay.

When you came home from a long day of work you almost cried when you saw that he’d made dinner and was waiting for you to eat.

“Hey love.” He smiled, pulling you into a hug. “Yoonho texted me and said that you had a hard day today.”

“Bless him.” You said as you buried your face into his chest.

“Come on, dinner’s gonna get cold.” He pulled you into the dining room. “And afterwards I got the movie you’ve been wanting to watch so that we can climb in bed and watch it.” And this time you did burst into tears. Geumhyuk laughed and kissed the top of your head. “I know, I know. Let’s eat and then you can rest. Yoonho already said that you can have tomorrow off.” 

And you knew you already had the best soulmate in the world, but now you really knew.
