I rewrote the ending montage of 15x20 so that everything is almost the same but also, I think, a lot better -
...
DEAN: Enters Heaven. Finds Bobby outside of the Roadhouse. Has their conversation. Bobby points him towards the Impala, which is waiting for him on the road. Dean stands.
...
SAM: We see Sam standing next to a burning pyre; the wrapped body burning on it can only be Dean. As he stands in shocked silence, the first notes of "Carry On My Wayward Son" start to play. The song continues, a montage, as we watch what happens next.
...
SAM: Grieving Dean. He looks around the bunker. It's empty; no Cas, no Jack, and now no Dean. Sam decides that he refuses to isolate himself anymore. He packs his things and leaves. He gives the bunker one final look before closing the door. The bunker lights goes dark behind him. He'll pass the key on to someone else.
...
DEAN: He walks away from Bobby and the Roadhouse towards the Impala. Runs his hand over the black finish as he walks slowly to the driver's door. He opens it and gets in. He's in Heaven now, and he's supposed to rest; but he didn't want to die, and he's not ready to stop living- changing- growing. He starts the car and drives. He has a lot to think about.
...
SAM: He knocks on a house's front door. He looks nervous; he's holding all of his personal effects in the bag on his shoulder. Everything he wanted to keep of Dean's, Cas's and Jack's is in the trunk of the Impala. When the door opens, Eileen is on the other side. They look at each other, both silent. Their expressions are of unbearable sadness and infathomable hope. After a moment, they embrace. Both are crying.
...
DEAN: He's been driving for a long time. He doesn't know if it's been moments or years. The scenery shifts from mountains, to boundless fields of yellow grass, to dense and lively forest, to a desert, to an ocean cliffside. He's been thinking; thinking about what he wants. What he thinks he deserves.
...
SAM: We see Sam and Eileen host a dinner party with Donna, Jody and the girls. We see Garth visiting with Bess and their kids. Sam and Eileen look happy. There are photos of everyone they've ever loved hanging on the walls throughout their home.
...
DEAN: The Impala rumbles to a stop on a bridge overpassing a mountain stream. Dean gets out of the car and walks to the rail to gaze out over the flowing water. He hopes that Sam is doing well without him, but Sam's happiness isn't Dean's priority anymore. Dean wants his own happiness. He's had time to think, and he's ready to go find something of his own, something he wants for himself. He can't be alive anymore, but that doesn't have to mean his journey is over. Thing is, he doesn't want to travel it alone.
...
SAM: Sam and Eileen have a baby. We watch as they raise it. The baby grows from an infant to a young boy. Sam smiles with fondness and sadness at a framed photo of himself, Dean, and Bobby sitting on the hood of the Impala while he carries his son to his bedroom. When Sam tucks the little boy into bed, we see that the child's personalized headboard reads "DEAN". We can assume that Sam is going to live a long, happy life.
[The last notes of "Carry On" plays as the camera rises, panning up and away from Sam and Dean Jr., before returning to Heaven; to Dean. There is no music anymore, just the ambient sounds of the rushing stream and the forest.]
DEAN: The camera is on Dean in profile. He's still looking out over the water, arms braced against the railing. He looks content, and a little determined, but not fulfilled. It's not over, yet.
Suddenly, though we hear nothing, Dean seems to sense a new presence behind him. He straightens, and a knowing expression crosses his face. The camera pans to follow Dean as he turns around. There, in the middle of the bridge, standing next to the Impala, is Castiel.
Castiel gazes at Dean with a warm, soft smile, and even softer eyes. He's been waiting a long time to see Dean Winchester again, but the wait was worth every single moment. Dean is every bit as beautiful as Castiel remembers.
CAS: "Hello, Dean."
The camera is back on Dean, showing his head and shoulders with face centered in shot. He stares past the camera at Cas for a moment, eyes filling with wonder, before a broad smile breaks across his face. He looks to be overflowing with love. This might be the happiest we have ever seen him.

The significance of The Vamp Mimes in 15x20 Carry On and what they say about the resolution of Dean's arc (character analysis).
Tumblr media
The Vamp Mimes as seen in 15x20 Carry On
I know the finale is universally hated by the Supernatural fandom, one of the reasons being that the final villains Dean and Sam go up against were weak and cartoonish. But I think these Vamp Mimes are actually perfect villains for Carry On and here's why. I will say that vampires in Supernatural are my least favourite portrayal of them on screen, but I can't deny the fact that they do a really good job at showing the threat vampires pose and how intimidating they actually are, especially in that episode where Dean was turned into a vampire. In this episode, the vampires wear skull masks. Skulls represent death and morality. In some cases, skulls are a reminder of our mortality. They are worn and used as symbols to warn us of death and that we are just mere mortals. This case can be seen with Dean as he has been fighting and grappling with death for quite some time. He has came back to life countless times, may that be torture in hell or as a demon. He and Sam have been breaking the rules countless times and as Billie said, they can't keep coming back to life. She believes that what is dead stays dead. So when Dean faced the Vamp Mimes in the barn, they were a warning of impending death and Dean didn't fight against that warning like he usually does, he accepted it. That makes his death at the hands of the rebar feel more real because he chose to accept that death was always going to be his end. He was ready to go now.
The case that Sam and Dean take on in this episode involves the Vampires kidnapped kids, ripping out the tongues of their families and juicing them so they can become blood bags for the nest. What I find interesting is that the kids the Vamp Mimes capture in this episode are two brothers, who in many ways, parallel Sam and Dean when they were kids. Their father was killed and their mother suffered a fatal injury that will scar her for life. By saving those brothers, Sam and Dean were able to spare them from the lives they had. Their mother died at the hands of a demon and their father became a rogue hunter, left with horrible mental scars. In a way, these roles are switched in this episode with the parents of these brothers and now that they are saved, they won't have that life. This case in particular and these mask wearing vampires were in their father's journal and by solving this case, they are able to get closure and close the book for good. This is particularly evident with the inclusion of Jenny, the vampire from season one as killing her allows them to put that past of hunting with their father to rest.
In my opinion, Dean's death was perfect because it was the way he was always going to go out - out swinging, dying on a hunt and putting his life on the line to save innocent lives. The Vamp Mimes Dean fought were actually a symbolic warning of death and their masks kind of resembled wrestlers, something Dean was obsessed with so he managed to go out fighting. That was always going to be his ending and it paved the way for Sam to carry on and raise a family of his own. He was finally able to put the hunting business behind him because Dean died for that future to be possible. It was foreshadowed during S15 ep9 The Trap in the future Sam saw if they had defeated Chuck way sooner. Vampires were always going to be their undoing and in a way, Chuck's future really did come to pass. Dean was always going to face death.
What do you think?

That’s it. It’s over. I don’t really know what to say. It was a happy ending more or less for everyone. But I think it could have gone out better. After everything Sam and Dean had been through the fact that that’s what got him, and that they made Sam go on without him. That’s insane. Well I guess I can watch it all over again. But It’s never be the same as watching for the first time. That was the greatest journey ever. I started out like most other fans just one more thing to watch when I was bored and my parents had happened to watch it when I was younger. It’s insane. I never thought it would become this big to me. That it would be more than just some fantasy, sci-fi, horror tv show just something that I’d watch and I’d obsess over and then I’d let go. But I don’t think that’s the case. Supernatural is different, it’s really really different. And it’s special. It means more to me than anything has before. And that feels wired to say. It’s just a tv show but there is something about it. There is something, it really is just different. There’s just this magic about it. It’s such a beautifully crafted story, with perfectly chosen actors and it was a beautiful journey to follow even if I was three years late. It really was beautiful and it meant a lot to me. And it will it will always mean a lot to me. I think with most things like this they come they inspire and then they disappear. But I really don’t think supernatural is gonna be like that for me. At least I hope not. I really really just want it to carry on (pun unintended). It’s so special and important to me. There really just aren’t enough words it’s just beautiful and its just magical, it’s so emotion evoking and it’s crafted story telling, and its imagination and it’s action and it’s horror and it’s love and it’s family. I’m really gonna miss being able to go back and put on the disc and watch it from the start again and have a new adventure each day. It’s gonna be a bit hard knowing there’s gonna be nothing new but at least now I have something that’s so amazing that I can go back to whenever I need. I don’t think it’s ever gonna get old. I’m gonna watch it till the day I die. I love it so much and I’m glad that I found it and coincidently found the SPN Family as well and I have found that community and it’s just something I’ve never experience before and it all because of just this one show. Most people would be like it’s just a tv show, it just franchise series just another CW show but it’s really not. It’s not. And it will never be just some mediocre show in my opinion.
The cast and the characters inspire me all the time and push me to keep going and to try harder and to do my best when a lot of time is just wanna sit down and do nothing, when I just don’t wanna try but they really brought something out in me. I found and discovered parts of myself with this show and it’s showed me so much and it’s helped me learn and helped me think. It was a journey not just for the boys, Sam and Dean and everyone with them along the way but me following them it felt much more than just a simple story a simple narrative it was immersive and expansive and there were so many things to learn that you had to look between the lines to see but I sought them out and it was so worth it. I’ll be sad to see it go in a way. Like it’s not going anywhere but like I said I’ll never be able to watch it again from the start like it’s new and have all the exiting moments and experiencing it like a first time all over again. I can’t get that again but i will always be here. Even if it feels like it’s going. It won’t. And I’ll see the actors online ever where because why wouldn’t I? I wanna keep up with them and how their going because even though they were just performing for a show they did so much for me, so why would I follow their careers and see how they’re going. I really really really love every single persons that was involved becuase they helped make this elegant and exquisite story. But it’s so much more than that and it’s hard to explain but I’m so grateful for it and I’m going to love it always and I’m so grateful that it came into my life and that it’s still around there’s still the community I can talk to and there’s I can talk to who will listen and understand me and it’s all thanks to this one show. It’s just crazy, but I thank everyone who was a part of it and I love the community. I love Supernatural and i love everyhting that came with and everythig. That will come to pass because of it.
