Do you have any opinions on what kind of music mav and ice like? I’m just curious as someone who has motorcycle riding 80s navy dad whose favorite two artists were Madonna and Bruce Springsteen if you think the answer would surprise us? Or if they’d be as predictable as always
Yeah nothing crazy. kinda predictable i guess. classic rock, country rock, classic blues, nostalgic 60s folk, contemporary stuff when it comes on the radio and isn’t unlistenable by their middle-aged-white-man standards.

+ of course ice’s somewhat gay Fleetwood Mac entanglement

there's a little inventory of tastefully pretentious movies i answer with when asked this question because i'm embarrassed of my real answer . but from the bottom of my heart it's Rushmore (1998)

do Mick Jagger and Marsha Hunt (the mother of his 1st child) hate each other? she's never photo'd around him like his other gfs/wives are
Absolutely not. I don't know how Mick currently feels about Marsha (after she sold the letters he sent to her), but I doubt she hates him. It really frustrated me that in her book she made it clear that she ALWAYS left the door open for Mick to be part of Karis' life. Don't get me wrong, I think it's commendable that she put her daughter's well-being above anything else, but I didn't find the resentment that I think she have the right to feel towards him for everything he did to her. Maybe that makes her a better person than me.
Marsha didn't really say anything bad about Mick to Karis and whenever Stones music played she would tell her daughter about Mick's importance to rock and how great he was. She "wanted Karis to think well of her father and wanted Mick to feel that the settlement served him as much as it served her."
The prologue and epilogue of her biography show Mick around the period she published the book (mid 80s) and they seem good with each other. Too good. I think what bothers me most is that she didn't treat him like he deserved to be treated (with contempt) because he NEVER apologized to her. But again, this shows that she has a kind disposition.
Here are excerpts from the prologue and epilogue:
It was drizzling that afternoon in Paris when we slipped into the front row of the darkened Left Bank cinema. Mick Jagger arranged himself in the seat next to me so that his elbow was resting on my thigh [...]
Mick's girlfriend Jerry Hall had enough to worry about, too, with Mick on his own in Paris cutting an album with the Stones. She could do without a picture of Mick and me holding hands while we rollicked with our daughter on a Paris side street [...]
I bounced downstairs from my bedroom in time to see Mick sweep our daughter in his arms. He threatened to lift me off my feet, but I loudly protested and we settled for a rocking bear hug [...]
You know, this doesn't even sound like the man who forced her into a situation where she had to clean friends' houses to support her daughter while he was RICH. This doesn't even look like the man who forced her into a humiliating situation in Germany by not sending measly 75 pounds to cover the costs of caring for his BURNT daughter. This doesn't even look like the man who asked for a child, abandoned her and said disgusting things about her in the media, publicly doubting the paternity of the child HE asked for.
I just think Mick got away with this too easily — like most things in his life — but I understand that for Karis and Marsha, the path of forgiveness was the best alternative.
In her own words, she "wrote to let him know that what had happened was past and he was welcome to see her (Karis). I put the issue behind me so that I could carry on."
Forgiveness is a beautiful thing that not everyone is capable of giving and few are worthy of receiving. Was Mick worthy of receiving it?
I don't know exactly why there aren't any photos of them together, but I remember that Marsha wanted to keep a low profile when dating Mick. Yet there should have been some photos.
Let's be clear: I don't blame Marsha for forgiving him; I just find it curious and a little frustrating. Jerry Hall posing for photos with Mick looking comfortable around him also frustrates me, and it makes me amazed at his ability to keep keeping her around him. With four kids, I don't think it was too difficult. I also talked a little about this here and here.

what do u think seans experience in reform school was like?? apparently the punishments were….well.
OH ANON!!!!! YES let's talk about this!!!!
So, a majority of the reform school horror stories that at least I've been hearing over the past few years have been largely been about schools that operated in the 20th century and into the 2010s at the latest, like the Dozier school or Elan. Then obviously there's the rest of the troubled teen industry but that's a more modern thing. Anyway, there's not a whole lot to go on for the late 1800's BUT I did manage to find a website which has a model for reformatory rules and regulations in 1890's Britain, which if nothing else, gives us something to go off in terms of what conditions could be like.
To start with, I think the fact that Sean was sent to reform school instead of other options interesting. Reform school was for delinquents; criminal children. Most likely, this means Sean was involved in criminal activity alongside his father - though, alternatively, it could mean whoever had to deal with Sean in the aftermath of Darragh's death, took one look at him and decided reform school was where he had to go.
Of course, Sean would never make life EASY for the officers and teachers of the school he was sent to. Not only is he there against his will, but those people and that place would, in his mind, all belong to the same entity which orchestrated his father's murder. That boy CAME to school with the intent to escape.
I think, with my HC of him having ADHD and dyslexia in mind, paired with his undoubted lack of respect for whatever authority figures that'd be at the reformatory, Sean would be singled out as a troublemaker from the get. It'd be one of those 'living up to expectations' thing from there, Sean making enemies out of the adults who were supposed to care for him and definitely coming up with ways to make their lives harder.
Sidenote; I definitely believe the little laugh Sean has after remembering his time in reform school was him reminiscing about all the pranks and shit he pulled to harass the workers there lmfao.
Of course, that also means he saw a LOT of the punishments they doled out. On the website they linked above, corporal punishment was VERY much on the agenda and I think Sean def saw the worst of it. I think an important aspect here is the understanding that once these things are seen as acceptable punishments, there's nothing stopping the person doling them out to up the severity of them despite regulations. A flogging shouldn't exceed 18 strokes nor a caning 8; but this offender has had several in the past few weeks and still keeps making trouble, lets add a couple extra just to get the message across.
I think the same goes for the punishments regarding isolation and meal deprivation; you can't tell me a young Sean already doesn't know the feeling of skipping meals out of necessity by the time he arrives at reform school - losing ONE meal as the regulations say with the assuredness of the next would do nothing to dampen Sean's spirits, nor a day in isolation.
Idk, Sean was truly desperate for money/food after 3 days, like that was when he tried to kill someone for it. Personally speaking, I go more than 12 hours without eating and I'd probably try to kill someone too. The 3 days speaks to a familiarity with hunger.
And idk, I definitely think Sean is used to being alone!!! It's why he likes being around people so much!! He grew up with only his father to rely on in the whole wide world, who probably HAD to leave Sean alone for prolonged amounts of time to do what he did as a Fenian & criminal. His scene in RDO also speaks to this; he gets lost and is on his own often!! It's not that he prefers it, but he is definitely used to it, and a day in isolation would probably make 0 difference to him fr!!
So, better up the ante to truly get those punishment across.
These are based on the British regulations for the time, mind! I couldn't find anything similar for the US, and I doubt there'd been a federal standard at the time, so I honestly imagine the punishments were more severe from the get, for Sean. Of course reform schools were supposed to be focused on reform over punishment, but when you're dealing with someone as possibly incessant and unyielding in their misbehavior as I imagine Sean was, punishment WOULD seem like the only option, with the knowledge they had at the time. I think he probably got the worse end of a LOT of it, because he wouldn't capitulate to the will of the reformatory very easily.
I don't think Sean stuck around for very long; around a year at most, I'd think. I also don't think he aged out of it, as the age of majority was 21 and it was more common for reform schools to set them up for some sort of legal work after 'graduating'. So yeah, he ran away, and promptly buried a lot of the bad shit he went through, as he is prone to do.
Thank you for this ask, anon!! I had a lot of fun thinking and reading about this, yall are REALLY indulging me here lolol

"Averse to all forms of cowardice?" I'm actually convinced you have no idea who you're talking about. One of France's defining character traits is that he's a coward. You sound like a fake fan.
Tumblr media
Anon, and anyone else who's reading this, look. I'm really sorry for the tone the rest of this reply is about to take. You see, I'm someone who's very much about curating one's personal internet experience, and an advocate for mutual respect and sensibility in regards to fandom matters. I'm all about encouraging differing interpretations and analyses of characters, even if I don't necessarily agree or understand it's all a matter of perspective and if I'm not a fan of something? I ignore it, simple. I likewise expect the same sort of understanding from other participants in fandom: If I am posting things that is not to someone's taste, they can simply ignore me or block me to curate their personal online experience. You know, like civil people within a public forum.
However, you've decided to come to my inbox, on this wretched day after I have just been subjected to two and a half hours of the worst Napoleonic cinema experience the human mind can possibly conjure, to tell me that I am a "fake fan" over a silly little shitpost? Are you on crack? Is it crack you're smoking? Because, my good bitch, you will find it is you who is the fake fan.
For example, we've got literal direct canonical evidence of France being, like, incredibly and unfathomably enthusiastic about the idea of getting to go to war with the English again, specifically saying that being at peace feels like he's been "crammed into a fake version" of himself. I'm sorry, it really doesn't get more explicit than that. Look, it's not a headcanon I believe in, but that's okay. You do you! I'm happy for whatever interpretation you have! I will not be the one sending pissy little anons about it, I promise! You're welcome to block me if this is something that is incompatible with your fandom experience! Go for it! Please!
But, sure, maybe direct canon depiction isn't enough to defend the thought process as to my personal interpretation. I'll put this under the cut since I'm invariably getting long-winded, but let's have a quick fun lightning-round overview of French history and culture in regards to their collective bloodthirst and warmongering that doesn't really lend itself to an interpretation of 'cowardice' as a concept that's strongly represented within the French national identity (at least in my opinion);
The French have, for about a thousand-odd years, been heavily associated with an unusually bellicose, honour-bound, chivalric, warmongering ideal, to the point their ongoing national anthem is quite literally about murdering people and watering the fields with blood!
Historian Niall Ferguson argues that France is the most belligerent military power in history!
Literally over a million men were fed into the meat grinder of World War One! Literally an entire generation! Approaching 5% of the entire population!
One of the last bayonet charges in history was performed by the French! In 1995!
Their ongoing nuclear doctrine is one of the pants-shitteningly insane ones on the planet, and scared the piss out of the Soviets - Which is to say, they will happily drop a nuclear weapon on an enemy city as a warning shot! And they'll do it, too, because they keep refusing to sign nuclear arms treaties!
Their population is entirely and consistently prepared and ready to implode their own country and governance at the first sign of any infringement upon perceived civil and social liberties!
If you've read this far, anon, congratulations! I hope you can better understand the reason why I interpret France the way I do! If you disagree with me, you're welcome to come off anon and meet me at the Champs-Élysées at dawn so we can duel to the death over our incompatible opinions like true respectable gentlepeople of honour and class. Or you can just block me and not bother me again.
It's totally up to you, buddy!

what are your favorite movies by people of color that have leads of color too?
i watched like 4 films that weren't animated this year. but there are 2 films focused on gnc asian people's experiences that more people should watch: drifting flowers by zero chou is a beautiful film with a gorgeous lesbian romance plus a very sweet bond between an elderly gay man + lesbian. and the documentary shinjuku boys which you can literally watch for free on youtube about the lives of transmasc entertainers and features a really memorable and funny&sweet t4t couple.
the following aren't specifically lgbt but this year i also really enjoyed a film called supermarket woman, a sort of unofficial sequel to another film I loved called tampopo. it's bizarre but ends up a lot more emotionally earnest than you're expecting.
and there's a film called kamikaze girls is one of my all time favourites that I'm meaning to rewatch soon, about the friendship between a lolita girl and a goth girl. and it's not gay but it is like.. kind of gay 😭
goes without saying that if anyone has seen a film recently with a masculine woman in they're required by law to tell me bc the pickings are slim out here

Have you heard of the A Season in Hell movie it was made in like 1970 and I'd like to know your thoughts on it
Good day anon! I am very flattered you’re interested in my opinion and believe I am qualified to comment. 🥺💕
As luck would have it, not only have I heard of the movie, but I have seen it once as well; however, the time period during which I saw it was also when I first saw Total Eclipse — which means that not only did I not have as much of a grasp on the language I found it in at the time as I do today (I remember it being some sort of French dub, which I find odd given Wikipedia lists it as being in only Italian and English, perhaps it was a fan dub of some kind 🤔 idk), but also and more importantly, at that time I had zero knowledge of Arthur’s real life story beyond what these two movies and Eng Wikipedia told me…so like, yeah, old me’s opinions on that movie’s accuracy cannot be trusted.
I’ll have to find some free time to seek it out again and then review it accordingly with the knowledge and capability I have today. (And I’ll be sure to post my review here when I do — so look forward to that eventually 👀.)

I think Bianca & Pat Cleveland knew each other before she met Mick for the first time because there’s photos of them dancing with Sterling the first black male model at Studio 54.
Pat Cleveland met Mick Jagger (and Bianca) in 1972. However, she claimed they didn't mess around until 1975. That photo you're describing was taken in 1977 during Bianca's birthday celebration at Studio 54. Both Pat and Mick were there and the fool had no clue that they were sleeping together!!! ☕️☕️☕️

Very unpopular and controversial opinion, but I would say that Bianca is better than Marianne and Anita combined (tbh Marianne and Anita are very overhyped).
I wouldn't exactly choose over them. To be honest, in my opinion, the woman who liked Mick least was Bianca. And that's why she was one of those who was least hurt when breaking up with him (financially and emotionally).
Bianca lied to Mick from the moment she met him. She lied about her age (She was 25 but she said she was 20-21) and lied that her parents were rich. Bianca always knew the power and advantage she had over Mick (the supposed physical similarity between them) and used it well. In Christopher's book it even says that she cut her hair to look even more like him. It is also suggested that she became pregnant after she discovered Mick had a daughter with Marsha Hunt.
She was also cunning; when she wanted Mick's attention and wanted to stop him from going somewhere, she would pretend to lose expensive accessories and make him "search" with her. He was no longer seen after that and the objects would mysteriously appeared.
She was an Ice Queen even with her husband and her daughter. There is at least one excerpt about the superficial and forced way she treated Jade (like a doll) just for show. And another excerpt with the nanny's words that Bianca spends less time with Jade than Mick.
Bianca had her way with Mick and was capable of making him cry and even locked him out of their house (holding a revolver!!!). She really wasn't a nice woman; she only cared about one person: Bianca.
But you know what? I don't hate her either. She made Mick pay off some of his past and future karma. It's not a loss if Bianca made him suffer on some level; he's not exactly innocent.
Anita Pallenberg was really a woman out of her mind who picked on Bianca for her cold and reserved manner, but mainly because Anita "reigned like a dowager empress" within the Stones' circle and felt threatened by Bianca. She even tried to do black magic to harm Bianca. Anita was also a negligent mother to her children, and although I don't exonerate Keith's guilt in all of this (he had as much parental responsibilities as she did), I don't like her.
I think Marianne Faithfull was pretty and that's why many people pay attention to her, but her story with Mick wasn't as interesting to read as Bianca and him. I love gossiping about them ALL tho!
