#2 Timothy 1:6
Appropriate Stimulation
Tumblr media
by Aiden Wilson Tozer
For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. - 2 Timothy 1:6
The tendency toward excessive stimulation is seen everywhere. Entertainment that once satisfied people now excites nothing more enjoyable than boredom. The theatrical pages of the daily papers tingle with such words as "tantalizing," "suspenseful," "breathless," "terrifying," "explosive." Recently one particularly spine-chilling number at the local bijou advertised itself as "the world's greatest horrorama" and promised that the jaded citizens who came to see it would find it "a billion-shock monsterpiece." This kind of thing in varying degree is found also in our automobiles, furniture, books, art, music, clothes, and gives evidence of mass emotional dope addiction in an advanced stage. My words are addressed to regenerated souls who are humble enough to be willing to learn and hungry enough to want to. I have not the dimmest hope that any politician, economist or advertiser will heed my warning even if what I write should by accident fall into his hands. The inhabitants of Vanity Fair are not likely to listen to the words of a Christian. They are under the control of "the carnal mind [which] is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be" (Romans 8:7, KJV). But the Christian needs stimulation. This the Bible teaches with great plainness and candor as in such passages as these: "For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands" (2 Timothy 1:6). "Encourage one another daily" (Hebrews 3:13). Every call to repentance, every exhortation to advance in the spiritual life, is meant to arouse the sluggish heart to seek God and His righteousness. Christ Himself was "moved with compassion" when He saw the hungry multitudes. Paul's Macedonian vision was given to stimulate missionary action. The so-called hortatory passages in the New Testament are there to inspire moral obedience.

Are You On Fire?
One of the things my wife and I love to do is sit in front of our fireplace and watch it, during the few days it is cool enough to run in Texas. Although our fireplace is a gas fireplace and does not consume anything other than gas, it is great to watch. When we can, we also love to have an outside firepit to watch and roast marshmallows on. Fire is something that many people love to watch. It…

‭‭Isaiah 11:1-6 (NASB)‬‬. “Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch from his roots will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. And He will delight in the fear of the Lord, And He will not judge by what His eyes see, Nor make decisions by what His ears hear; But with righteousness He will judge the poor, And decide with fairness for the humble of the earth; And He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He will slay the wicked. Also righteousness will be the belt around His hips, And faithfulness the belt around His waist. And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, And the leopard will lie down with the young goat, And the calf and the young lion and the fattened steer will be together; And a little boy will lead them.”
2 Timothy 4:18 (AMPC). “[And indeed] the Lord will certainly deliver and draw me to Himself from every assault of evil. He will preserve and bring me safe unto His heavenly kingdom. To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen (so be it).”
“A Promised Hope” by In Touch Ministries:
“If you are in a season of waiting, don't become discouraged—the Lord always delivers.”
“Sometimes it can be hard to grasp how much time passed between events in the Bible. After the Old Testament’s completion, for instance, 400 years passed before God’s next direct revelation.
Let’s put that span in terms we can better comprehend. In 1620, the Pilgrims landed on the shores of what would become Massachusetts. That was 404 years ago. Think of all that has happened since then—everything from the American Revolution to man walking on the moon to the creation of artificial intelligence. God’s people waited that long without a word from the Lord! While many grew despondent, others clung to hope.
Anna, for example, was a widow and prophetess who served at the temple in Jerusalem, waiting for Israel’s redemption. She trusted that “A shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse ... and the Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him” (Isa. 11:1-2). This promised Messiah would bring order, strength, counsel, and wisdom as He delighted in the Lord, and He would make everything right.
Then, at the appointed time, Anna witnessed the miracle of fulfilled prophecy as she gazed into the face of the tiny baby Jesus. In response, she praised and thanked God for being faithful to His promise (Luke 2:38). Like her, we can praise God, secure in the knowledge that God will do all He says He will do.”

"THAT CONTAINER IS LYING ABOUT ITS CONTENTS"
Matthew 7:15, “Be on your guard against false prophets; they come to you LOOKING LIKE SHEEP on the OUTSIDE, but on the INSIDE they are really like wild WOLVES.” (GNT) My two favorite seasons are Winter and Fall! Winter, because I love Christmas, snow, carols, decorations and the like. And Fall, because I love the colors, Thanksgiving, the start of the scent of fireplaces, but most of all,…

"I'm Not Good Enough" is Only One of the Lies
“I’m not good enough” is only one of the lies we tell ourselves. Moreover, this is what I told myself most of my life along with other lies like “You’re not good enough”, “You’ll never amount to anything”, “You’re too fat”, “You’re not pretty enough”, and the like. What Lies Do You Tell Yourself? I guess the point that I’m trying to make is that these are lies. So, why did I continue to believe…

How to pray for unbelievers
Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. (Romans 10:1)
Paul prays that God would convert Israel. He prays for her salvation! He does not pray for ineffectual influences, but for effectual influences. And that is how we should pray too.
We should take the new covenant promises of God and plead with God to bring them to pass in our children and our neighbors and on all the mission fields of the world.
God, take out of their flesh the heart of stone and give them a new heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 11:19)
Circumcise their heart so that they love you! (Deuteronomy 30:6)
Father, put your Spirit within them and cause them to walk in your statutes. (Ezekiel 36:27)
Grant them repentance and a knowledge of the truth that they may escape from the snare of the devil. (2 Timothy 2:25–26)
Open their hearts so that they believe the gospel! (Acts 16:14)
When we believe in the sovereignty of God — in the right and power of God to elect and then bring hardened sinners to faith and salvation — then we will be able to pray with no inconsistency, and with the confidence of great biblical promises for the conversion of the lost.
Thus, God has pleasure in this kind of praying because it ascribes to him the right and honor to be the free and sovereign God that he is in election and salvation.

Nine Biblical Reasons to Reject Donald Trump as a Candidate for President
Wednesday is for Political Controversy I don’t want to write this post.  Despite the fact that I wrote a book with the title Picking a President or Any Other Elected Official, I’m not a really political person.  I’m a registered Independent. Have been all my life. I wish all Christians were registered Independents. I don’t think it is wise for Christians to be identified with either or any…

I Am In Anguish In This Flame (Part 2) (220) - November 18 2023
Play on other Podcast Apps The second of two programs looking at Luke 16:19-31, regarding the rich man and the destitute Lazarus. On earth Lazarus was at the gate of the rich man, begging for anything that may drop from the man’s table. After both died (in the physical sense), the rich man and Lazarus switched positions. The man was taken to Hades (the place of the dead) by angels, while Lazarus…

Sisters, are you really believing God's Word?
Sisters, are you really believing God's Word? Do you take all that the Lord says to you seriously and believe every word of it?
Sisters, are you really believing God’s Word? Do you take all that the Lord says to you seriously and believe every word of it? Do you do so even when it challenges your convictions? We ought to. Galatians 6: 7-8, Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the…

A Golden Treasury for the Children of God
Tumblr media
by Carl Heinrich von Bogatzky
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. - Matthew 6:10
God will have all men to he saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth: for there is one God, and one Mediator, between God and man, the man Christ Jesus who gave himself a ransom for all. - 1 Timothy 2:4-6
Therefore he is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. - 2 Peter 3:9
O the inestimable riches of universal grace! This minute, O my distressed soul, thou canst lay hold on them, and firmly believe this promise to belong even to thee, and that thy lovely Saviour is as willing, as he is able to save thee from all thy sins. Whatever objections may be raised against it, and engross thy thoughts, hearken not to them, but resolutely reject them as the most detestable suggestions of the devil, who above all things, fights most against faith, knowing well enough that unbelief is the source of all wickedness. Therefore, mind him not, he is a liar. But the word of God may be depended upon: hence thou mayest confidently say, that I am exceedingly corrupted, is too true; but not beyond the infinite grace and power of God. Still I am a man: and he being willing that no man should perish, but that all should be saved; this his will is to me, the surest pledge of my justification, sanctification, and salvation. It is his will, and it is mine too, that I should be saved: what enemy then can hinder it?
But O my soul, for ever praise, For ever love his name. Who turns thy feet from dangerous ways Of folly, sin, and shame.

FAITH!
• “Now FAITH is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” —Hebrews 11:1
• “And without FAITH it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” —Hebrews 11:6
• “I tell you the truth, if you have FAITH as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” —Matthew 17:20
• “Fight the good fight of the FAITH. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. ” —1 Timothy 6:12
• “We live by FAITH not by sight.” —2 Corinthians 5:7
• “Be on your guard; stand firm in the FAITH; be men of courage, be strong.” —1 Corinthians 16:13
Faith is the most important gift a Christian has (other than Salvation in Jesus Christ and God’s Word: The God-breathed, Spirit-filled Holy Bible). With God and faith, the impossible can become the possible. Hebrews chapter 11 (https://bible.com/bible/116/heb.11.NLT) is all about the faith of people in the Bible: Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses (and his parents), Rahab and the people of Israel! And these are just the people mentioned in Hebrews 11! There are many more ordinary people throughout the Bible who were chosen by God and, by faith (and with God’s help), did amazing, miraculous things.
Friend (just like the people in the Bible), with faith and God’s help, there is nothing you and God can't achieve together. Keep seeking God’s will, keep praying, keep believing (Lk 11:9-10, Mk 11:24) and you will see miracles begin to happen. Amen and Hallelujah! 🙌🙌🙌

For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil
Daily Verse Reading – 1 Timothy 6:2-12 2 Those who have believing masters should not show them disrespect just because they are fellow believers. Instead, they should serve them even better because their masters are dear to them as fellow believers and are devoted to the welfare[a] of their slaves. False Teachers and the Love of MoneyThese are the things you are supposed to teach and insist on.…
