NEW PERSPECTIVE ; FA14
fernando alonso x photo journalist!reader
. . . twenty years into his career, alonso faced a lot of changes. but it was all because of you, that he looked forward to at the end of everything.
amgf 2.8k words. implied mentions of spygate, rumors, other controversies, accidents and more. slightly realistic? i cried writing this— made me in awe of fernando as a driver even more. enjoy 👍

[2005]
Is Fernando selfish?
He could say that to himself, it doesn’t matter to him what other people thought of him. At the end of the day, they’re just here to race.
He’s aware of it, if it weren’t for his skills and passion he wouldn’t have come this far— a young boy from Spain, dreaming to make it to the top. It didn’t seem like reality four years ago, yet here he is.
Standing on top of his car in parc ferme, the crowd cheering him on as his engineers flood through from the garage to greet him. The sun shining down on him— celebrating his win, it felt as if he was back at home in Spain, under the protection of his helmet he could see the entourage of people crowding him.
People as far as his eye can see, but it’s all a blur— to Fernando this was everything he dreamed of and more. It peeved him that he didn’t win the Brazilian Grand Prix, but winning the World Championship was even better.
His shoulders held high hugging every Renault engineer he could find, it was history. He will be a part of history- no. Fernando Alonso made history. And this was just the beginning.
Tumblr media
[2007]
Where did things go wrong?
Exactly two years ago, Fernando was on cloud nine. The only thing he’s getting to the nines is stress. As much as he hates to admit he was intimidated to be one-upped by a rookie at that.
It’s his ego that’s eating him alive, nonetheless Fernando is still proud. If he has his head high, nothing could ever stop him.
It scares him, the monster growing inside him, but what else can he do? In this sport, one can either hunt or be hunted. If he had to use tricks up his sleeve, why wouldn’t he?
It’s nothing personal, Hamilton just happened to be there, his only mistake was thinking that the rookie won’t retaliate. In hindsight, he’d gladly accept P2 over his teammate.
Fernando may have an egotistical and dubious character but he wasn’t blind to the young man’s skills. But it was also a mirror and testament to his own, if Hamilton could do it, what’s his reason not to deliver?
Thinking back on his phone call with the team principal, he should’ve immediately told the FIA instead of ratting himself out. Now he has to face the consequences of his actions, deciding to do better, Alonso ultimately leaves the team.
[2008]
He must be a penchant for bad luck, this time Fernando knows it wasn’t his fault.
It annoyed him that controversy seemed to follow him wherever he went. “Are you Fernando Alonso? Is it real you tried to kill your teammate? What can you say in response to the rumors circulating about you?”
Joder!
“Fernando Alonso? Do you have time for an interview?”
Alonso wasn’t one to be caught off-guard, but for the first time he stood frozen, in shock. Glancing around the area, Alonso stepped forward nodding towards the interviewer. He’d been dealing with stupid questions all day long, what’s another one gonna change with his mood right?
“I’m YN LN interviewer for Formula One Herald. As someone who has witnessed you win the championship back in 2005 and 2006, what are your plans in securing the most points possible?”
Wrong.
Now Fernando is truly caught off guard. Wary off your question, overthinking and analyzing hidden meanings behind it. Alonso didn’t think of himself as calculative, he’s simply observant and protective of his space. Knowing how easily one’s words could be twisted into a narrative.
Fernando stares at you, Surely you’re not the type to work for meager clicks on the webs?
It was silent for the next few minutes.
“Sir Alonso? I’m sorry for taking your time, you can go ahead if you don’t want to answer.”
Somehow you managed to catch Fernando’s attention even more, “I thought journalists were supposed to be persuasive? You’re just letting me go without getting a scoop of the news?”
Fernando’s eyes widened, hearing you laugh at his words, he didn’t think of himself as funny, maybe it’s one of their tactics. To know one’s information you must soften them a bit, his expression only hardens ultimately catching you off guard.
“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to laugh- I guess I’m just nervous since it’s my first time actually being dispatched on field. I used to take pictures on the sidelines- I even took one of yours when you won back in 2005, it was such a nice memory. I remember fighting a lot of reporters to catch a glimpse of you, I managed to take one and it was chosen as the front and center photo of one famous magazine! Hopefully you win more races and podiums, you make it fun and exciting. Speaking as a fan and not some journalist, I’m rooting for you- I must’ve been rambling for a while, thank you for sparing me your time, don’t worry this will all go off the record just for you. Have a nice race week.”
The air must’ve felt it too, because since then things have changed.
Fernando was left alone watching your back disappear from the crowd.
The moment things were finally looking better for him.

[2012]
“Sir Alonso!”
The voice from afar alone caused Fernando to look around for the familiar voice in the paddock. Somehow he’s been always keen on answering your questions or setting up time for interviews, often extending them for an absurd amount of time as what his manager said.
It’s not biased if your questions are the only thing interesting. That or it could be your magnetic presence, he could feel your passion beaming through as you asked him intricate questions none that he experienced before.
Another telltale sign is you’re the only one who calls him “Sir Alonso”, thinking back on his first meeting with you, it definitely came as a shock. Despite all the formality, he’s taken a liking to the name only you call him.
It makes him feel respected and more importantly it makes him feel like he has a special relationship with you. Walking through the crowd, he spots you at one of the tables waving your cards in the air, like a bait to lure him into your trap.
Not that he minds, if he had to spend the next hour talking about how the season wrapped, he’d rather talk to you about it. Smiling unknowingly, Fernando rubs the palms of his hands on his red tracksuit.
Was he nervous to talk to you? No. It’s all about racing, a topic Alonso is fond of, but is your presence rubbing him off? I guess he could say that. All the thoughts in his head buzzing, what should he say? What should he do? How should he act in front of you.
Fernando never thought of himself to be as calculative, but the need to impress you has astounded him even more.
“Fernando Alonso, congratulations on finishing P2 for the season. It’s exciting to see you on and off the track now that the season is over.”
He could feel himself beaming at the sound of your voice, it’s like you infected him with your insurmountable enthusiasm. Alonso liked that about you, no need for snarky remarks, or hidden agendas behind your question, you were always talking about the sport, yet somehow your spark never seemed to fade away.
And as much as you like to praise him, he’s slowly in the making for one of your biggest fans. Not that he will admit that to you himself.
“YN, it’s always a delight talking to you.” Grabbing your hand for a handshake, Fernando pulls you in for a hug without thinking. Immediately pulling away, Alonso’s thoughts began firing, overthinking the previous interaction.
His doubt was erased once he saw the smile on your face, happiness reaching the corners of your eyes. “Thank you for taking the time to talk to me, this is becoming a thing isn’t it?”
A thing. What thing? Fernando raises his brows asking for more context, maybe he’s overthinking it again or confused, maybe he didn’t hear you properly, totally not distracted just by being in your personal space.
“Post-season interviews? It’s always nice to catch up and look back on the season, especially this one P2. Congratulations Alonso…” Your voice drowns out into the background.
It was another turning point in Fernando Alonso’s life, and somehow this was all because of you. Only realizing then that he’d rather sit down for what seems like the longest time in his life, talking to you, not just about his racing but about your own life. He realized that he’d never catch himself doing this with other interviewers, and this was your thing.
Fernando liked that.
It’s nice to catch up and look back on the season with you.
Tumblr media
[2016]
Lucky to be alive. Lucky. To be. Alive.
It only dawned on him what happened then. Fernando sat in silence next to you, from the corner of his eyes, he could see you tidying up the small things you prepared for the interview. Alonso felt vulnerable, it’s been a while since he’s experienced such a crash.
“I should leave you to rest, hmm?” Raising his head, Fernando meets your eyes full of concern or at least that’s how he sees it. In a spur of the moment, Alonso shakes his head ‘no’.
“Can you stay for a while?” Fernando avoids your eyes, halfway in regret from being unable to control himself. To his surprise, you drop your papers sitting down next to him.
“Do you want to talk as a friend?”
A friend.
Fernando stays quiet before nodding his head.
And just like how you do all the time, just being by your side Fernando could feel himself slowly getting better. Letting himself let go of all the thoughts and worries in his head. If not now, when?
When will he have another chance to spend time with you? Not just as a friend.
It was the second time he felt it change.
Tumblr media
[2019]
“Congratulations Alonso!”
The corner of Fernando’s lips curl up to a smile watching you approach him closer, opening his arms, catching you in his arms. If he wasn’t already feeling better with his win, having you here by his side is even more enjoyable.
“Didn’t think you’d actually come here. Sick of the F1 Paddock?” Fernando inquisitively asked, he expected you to reply politely for support, but what he didn’t expect is for you to suddenly grow balls.
“Honestly it’s boring without you there. Why would I go when you’re here?”
Or were you always so straightforward that he didn’t notice it? Stunned.
It was always a surprise with you, not that he minded it didn’t matter what you would’ve said, Alonso would gladly listen to you. “When did you arrive?” Clearing his throat, trying to not get your words to affect him as much as he wants to.
“Oh, I’ve been watching since yesterday, I stayed in one of the tents.”
And there goes Alonso, surely if you had looked further into his eyes, you could see his heart doing somersaults and cartwheels. Is this your effect on him? He wasn’t that aware, but now it’s slightly concerning for him to be acting this way in front of you.
You simply stunned him. And Alonso wouldn’t have it any other way.
“It’s surprising how I managed to hide from you, to be honest my self-control isn’t that good-”
I’m sure yours is better… if only you knew mine, Alonso thought, lips curling into a smile.
“But somehow I thought, wouldn't it be better to surprise you in the end? If you win then it’ll be a surprise and a celebration. Just like now! I took so many photos of you, you want to see?”
Fernando didn’t notice you moving closer to him, showing him the photos you took of him.
“And if I lost? What would happen then?” A smirk grows in his face, feeling proud to put you into the corner, but Fernando should know by now that you will always have the upper hand. Especially when it comes to you.
“Oh, I planned on giving you a big kiss, comfort you and take you out for dinner. But isn’t it good that you won?”
The way Fernando’s face fell at the thought of getting a kiss from you sounded a lot better than winning.
Joder! I’d rather kiss YN than win… Is this where I’m at now?
“What a shame that I won then, are kisses only for losers?” Fernando ought to shut up, but he just can’t let you win, taking blow after blow he’s been hit hard where it hurts. His ego and what could’ve been a kiss from you.
As if you couldn’t surprise him more, Fernando stood frozen watching you move closer to him, hands wrapped on both of his cheeks. He could feel the coldness of your hands against the warmth of his cheeks, pressing a small kiss on the side of his face totally catching him off guard.
“Winners get one kiss. Losers get two.”
Fernando can’t help but burst out laughing, eliciting the same to you laughing along with the sound of his laughter. “What?”
Alonso shakes his head, face red from the blushing, laughing, or just being in the same proximity as you. You’re full of surprises, he’ll give you that, but he completely surprises himself in the end.
Fighting the urge to kiss you then and there, Fernando settles on grabbing your hands, “Let’s get out of here. Let’s go on that dinner you were talking about.”

[2021]
Getting out of his seat, Fernando immediately looks around for you. The energy, adrenaline, and excitement fueling him. Walking towards his team waiting for him by the barricades cheering, yet his eyes linger towards you.
Behind a camera with a wide smile on your face, Alonso waves as you mirror his movements. It’s as if time had stopped, as you capture his moments, Fernando has already ingrained you in his mind.
Coming back to Formula One wasn’t easy. He had sacrifices to make, but seeing the warmth and familiarity of your face around the track. He kept his shoulders up.
Now more stable than ever, his sacrifices, priorities, and privilege will all be tested as the season comes to an end. Nevertheless, Fernando is grateful to have you by his side.
It’ll only be the beginning for more changes to come, and with you by his side, there’s nothing stopping him now.
Tumblr media
[2023]
“You're back with the interviews?” Fernando sits at the other side of the table overlooking the view of the yacht dock.
“My favorite driver is on the grid, so why not. I thought this was our thing?” Fernando watches as you prepare the papers in front of you, head tilting, focused doing your own things. Sitting back and letting you do your magic, Fernando grabs one of your cameras.
You were always behind the lens of your beloved camera, Alonso remembered you saying to him that this was one of your oldest cameras. You also gave Fernando free reign in using your camera, he wasn’t aware of the magnitude of you letting him use your camera, but knowing how special it is to you, Alonso knew to handle it with care.
Fernando turned on the camera immediately looking for the photos you took in them. He has an inkling of the contents inside them, but what he didn’t expect was the overwhelming amount of photos you have of him.
Going as far back as 2003, photos of him in his first win in Hungary, photos of him in podiums, smiling, some showcasing his losses, photos of him with past teammates and in various uniforms.
The feeling dawned on him, you’ve been there from the start, watching him through the lens. Seeing himself from your eyes, Alonso was taken aback at the photos. As if you couldn’t sweep him off his feet even more, learning this about you even made him fall in love with you more than he already is.
“Why are you crying?”
Your voice breaks his train of thought, blinking away the moisture poling into his eyes. Alonso isn’t one to be emotional, but seeing your love flow through the pictures from the screen, fills his heart heavy with emotion.
Wiping his tears, Alonso places the camera back on the table. “I never thought I would feel this way about these…” Fernando watches you shuffle around, dropping everything as you move beside him.
“I remember telling you about these photos. They’re all about you.”
Alonso nods his head, still deep in thought, beyond belief at his love for you, ever growing every single day.
“I never saw myself like this… how you capture my every moment, through the good and bad. I feel loved, and I love you.” Fernando, professing his love for you. Truly, one of the best seasons.
You allowed him to see himself in a different light, different from what the media says, the roles he played in the sport, a conniving villain. You allowed him to see himself in a new perspective.

The History of...The Japan GP
Hello and welcome to the first post of formula 101's new segment...the history of, starting with this Weekend's GP "The Japanese Grand prix"
Historically, Japan has always been one of the last races of the season and thus has been a GP for many title-deciding races. with 12 driver's champions being crowned on Japanese soil. In fact the Japanese Grand prix was also the only Asian nation to host a formula 1 race until 1999 when Malaysia joined, but just because it's 1 GP doesn't mean its always been held in one place.
The first two Formula One Japanese Grands Prix's (in 1976 and 1977) were held at the Fuji Speedway, located at the foothills of Mount Fuji, in Oyama, Suntō District, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. It was built in the early 1960s and in the 1980's was used for the FIA World Sportscar Championship and national racing. The track itself was originally managed by Mitsubishi Estate Co, however it was acquired by Toyota Motor Corporation in the year 2000
The Fuji Speedway also happens to be home to one of Formula 1's greatest moment in 1976 (the first Japanese GP) where the race was run under some terrible wet conditions and Driver James Hunt finished third and was crowned world champion over his title rival Niki Lauda, who refused to risk his life in the treacherous conditions.
The Japanese GP was unfortunately then taken off the calendar but it returned in 1987 at Suzuka, which stands to be one of the most challenging Formula One circuits due to its unique ‘figure of 8’ layout, which includes the 130R corner! which also happens to be the place where the second major event that took place at a Japanese grand prix, and that was in the 1988 race...
Tumblr media
(Image: Track Layout of Suzuka)
The World Championship decider between Senna and Prost – who were McLaren teammates that year. Senna came in with a greater chance of winning the championship (as the points system in those days counted the best 11 results; Senna had retired from one more Grand Prix than Prost had and had been slightly less consistent than the Frenchman, yet this was actually to the Brazilian's advantage; the way the points system worked in those days meant that there was more room for him to score points.) McLaren also had obtained superior and fuel-efficient Honda engines from Williams and had a car far better than any of the others, plus had won every race of the season except the Italian Grand Prix – McLaren's only double retirement of the season.
At the start, Senna made a very bad start, stalling on the grid but then managing to bump-start his car. However because of this, he dropped to 14th, while Prost took the lead. It then began to rain, and Senna (being a wet weather specialist) stormed around the track, setting a number of fastest laps and passing car after car until he caught Berger in 2nd and then started to catch Prost rapidly. The Frenchman's gearbox was malfunctioning, and the Brazilian caught and passed Prost while the Frenchman was delayed by consistent backmarker Andrea de Cesaris. Senna won the race and his first Drivers' Championship with Prost finishing 2nd, despite the latter scoring more points overall.
However this is not the only iconic moment between Senna and Prost at the Japanese GP as in 1989 the 2 teammates got into an even more heated GP, but in order to give that story justice I'll just make another post on it (coming soon)
In 1994 and 1995, Japan also hosted the Pacific Grand Prix at the TI Circuit, making Japan one of only nine countries to host more than one Grand Prix in the same season (the others being Austria, Bahrain, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Spain and the USA) and the only Asian country on the list
In 2007 the Grand Prix moved back to the newly redesigned Fuji Speedway and after a second race at Fuji in 2008, the race returned to Suzuka in 2009, as part of an alternating agreement between the owners of Fuji Speedway and Suzuka Circuit, rivals Toyota and Honda. However, in July 2009, Toyota announced it would not host the race at Fuji Speedway in 2010 and beyond due to "a downturn in the global economy", and so the Japanese Grand Prix was held at Suzuka instead. Suzuka has hosted the Japanese Grand Prix every year since 2009, apart from in 2020 and 2021 when the Grands Prix were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Grand prix has been confirmed to stay on the calendar till 2024 where it will be from the 5th to the 7th of April, making it one of the first Grand Prix's unlike its usual record. Overall the Grand prix is a special one, holding many '1st's' of Formula 1 and the fact that it's a track in an asian ground in a very European dominated sport.
Most wins (Driver) at the Japanese GP: Michael Schumacher (6)
Most wins (constructers) at the Japanese GP: Mclaren

Tom Holland declares his love for Brazilian football and talks about his meeting with Neymar: “We’ve been trying for a long time”
The British actor Tom Holland, widely known as the current Spider-Man in the MCU, didn’t need to read a single page of The Crowded Room script, which premieres next Friday on Apple TV+, to accept the project. Especially because there was nothing at all to read. Tom was enchanted just by the story he was told by the show creator, Akiva Goldsman, Academy award winner for A Beautiful Mind, in 2002.
“I was excited to be in the project even before there was a script because it was something I’d never done before. Akiva sold the idea in an incredible way,” says Tom. “No doubt it was the hardest job I ever had. There was nothing remotely similar to this show.
There’s not much to say about the thriller that captivated the young actor as much as his co-star, Amanda Seyfried. Anything could reveal important plot details, but we can say that Tom plays Danny, a young man involved in a shooting in Rockefeller Center, New York, in the summer of 1979. In prison, he crosses paths with investigator Rya, played by Amanda. [...]
“I shot this show before The Dropout was released. I was looking for a project that allowed me to interpret someone completely different,” says Amanda, who in the Star+ production interpreted the con artist Elizabeth Holmes.
Amanda and Tom had never worked together before. The American actress knew the blockbusters he had been in and his performance in Lip Sync Battle, in 2007: a cover of Umbrella by Rihanna.
“I’ve seen him in big productions, such as Uncharted, and I’d seen his Umbrella performance. I laughed so hard. I thought: ‘this kid is really talented’,” she recalls. “I thought it was really cool that he wanted to take this deep dive now.”
CONTROVERSIAL HAIR
For this show, Tom also had a job as producer. Although he had taken a similar position in last year’s Uncharted, he was even more present in the making of this new show.
“In Uncharted, I was part of the script writing process, looking for directors. But in The Crowded Room, I went deeper: I got involved with costume design, hair and makeup, I discussed which directors and cinematography director we wanted. It was a much more immersive experience,” says the young actor, who fought for the look his character has on the show. “Danny’s hair was my choice. The studio wanted me to keep the hairstyle I had at the time, but I cut [my hair] just the same. Apple ended up accepting that we’d made the right choice, but they were very, very hesitant at first.”
IN THE PIT WITH NEYMAR
Sporting a completely new look, the Brit went to the F1 Grand Prix in Monaco, on the 28th [of May], and drove Brazilian fans mad by taking a photo with Neymar at the event. When he heard the commotion it had caused on social media, he laughed and didn’t spare any compliments:
“I think the way you play football [in Brazil] is a form of art. I’m a big fan of Neymar. We’ve been trying to meet for a long time but any time we arranged anything, it ended up not happening,” Tom says. “The only time we didn’t plan to meet, we bumped into each other. It was good to finally meet him. I love Brazilian football.”

Happy Birthday former Grand Prix racing driver David Coulthard.
Coulthard was born 1971 in Twynholm, Galloway, south west Scotland. His parents are Duncan and Joyce Coulthard, his father was partner of the haulage firm Coulthard/Hayton. He was educated in Kirkcudbright Academy where, in-between travelling for karting races, he achieved 8 O-Levels, 1 Higher and 6 Detentions, apparently!
David Coulthard’s father Duncan gave him an unorthodox introduction to motor racing. He bought his 12-year-old son a go-kart as a surprise and entered him for a race just three days later.
Those who saw Coulthard’s kart flipped upside down at the very first corner of his racing career might not have tipped him to become a grand prix race winner. But anyone who followed his subsequent karting career, which included a trio of Scottish championship titles between 1983 and 1985, might have figured he was on his way to better things.
Nickname DC he is now a commentator, presenter and journalist. After outgrowing karting he progressed to car racing in the British Formula Ford Championship and the Formula 3000 series.
He made his Formula One debut for Williams during the 1994 Spanish Grand Prix and fetched his first Formula One win at the 1995 Portuguese Grand Prix. In 1996 he joined McLaren and moving on won two races in 1997, five races throughout 1999 and 2000, and finished as runner-up in the 2001 Formula One World Drivers’ Championship. He secured his last win at the 2003 Australian Grand Prix, left McLaren after 2004 season and joined Red Bull in 2005. He made his last Formula One entry at the 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix before retiring from the race later that year.
Thereafter he worked with Red Bull as a consultant and joined the BBC as a commentator and analyst for their Formula One coverage. He also participated in the Race of Champions and won the 2014 and 2018 competitions. Starting from 2016, he has worked for Channel 4 as an analyst and commentator.
He comes across as a likeable guy and has been described as warm, genuine and funny, I wouldn’t say I am an avid fan of motorsport, but I sometimes watch it and his interviews before the races and practice rounds In October 2018 Coulthard was announced as a spokesperson and advisory board member of the forthcoming W Series, a racing championship for women based on Formula 3. The helmet with a saltire that Coulthard wore in his driving days was originally in honour of fellow Scot and friend Colin McRae who died when he crashed his helicopter near his home in 2007.
Now I quite like David, but, in my opinion he did a rather silly thing in 1999, he tried to patent his racing helmet, the one in the pic, stopping people having the saltire on their own ones!
Coulthard's plans were also greeted with dismay by Scottish football fans, famed for dressing up in Saltires. Racing drivers, David Franchetti and John Cleland were both dismayed at the attempt, at the time Franchetti, who also used a saltire on his lid commented
"I don't want to fall out with David so maybe we should sit down and talk about it."
Galashiels Cleland a former touring car champion said
"I was the first to use the St Andrew's Cross and I would never try to stop another Scot from doing the same."
Coulthards manager at the time said The design on David's helmet is not the Scottish flag, it is a blue and white logo which he has used for years. It is also a darker shade of blue.

Alandra Pereira Masvidal
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alandra Pereira Masvidal, born 21 December 1999, is a Brazilian Formula 1 racing driver who races under the number 13 and credits sponsorship in Aryton Senna’s name for supporting her leap into Formula 1. Masvidal first got her start in Formula 1 under Alfa Romeo Racing Ferrari in 2021 alongside 2007’s World Driver Champion Kimi Raikkonen. Masvidal would then make the move to Alpine Renault for the 2022 Formula 1 season before moving, again, to Aston Martin Aramco for the 2023 season which looks to be a continued partnership for the 2024 Formula 1 season.
Masvidal is often credited for making Formula 1 more accessible for young women, as seen when she and Haas’ Laila Borelli endorsed the F1 Academy efforts. Masvidal, while noteworthy for her involvement, is also known to have somewhat of a media temper and has made a habit of biting back at journalists or other media personnel in debriefs and post-race interviews alike.
Masvidal is known to be seen with Charles Leclerc, Laila Borelli, Max Verstappen, and a few others in free moments in the paddock. Masvidal has a total of 8 podiums with her highest finish being 2nd (3x). Masvidal has yet to achieve any pole positions in her career. Masvidal is the third youngest Brazilian driver to be entered in a Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Masvidal’s first season in Formula 1 was driven with Alfa Romeo Racing Ferrari. Her partnership with Alfa Romeo would end in 2021 despite out-qualifying her WDC teammate 13:7. Masvidal achieved her first point in Monaco with a 10th-place place finish. She would then set her personal best in Formula 1 at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix with a 9th-place finish. Masvidal would end 18th in the Championship with only three points.
In the 2022 season, Masvidal signed with Alpine Renault along with teammate Esteban Ocon. Masvidal would then equal her personal best finish at this point in the opening race of the season at Bahrain. Masvidal would continue to prove her mettle with consistent points in races like Monaco before achieving a new record of 5th in Silverstone which she would repeat in Belgium and again in her home race at Brazil. Masvidal finished the 2022 season outqualifying her teammate, again, this time 12:10, despite having equal race results (8:8). Masvidal would end the season 9th in the Championship with 81 points.
Following the upheaval caused by Alpine signing Oscar Piastri before notifying Alandra Masvidal of her contract release, Masvidal would find a last-minute seat with Aston Martin Aramco Mercedes. Despite Piastri’s legal dispute over the claim he would race for Alpine, Masvidal was not invited back to race with Alpine and was instead replaced by Pierre Gasly. 2023’s rookies included the second woman on the grid in the form of Laila Borelli for Haas Ferrari with Oscar Piastri at McLaren and Logan Sargeant at Williams Racing rounding out the rookie crew. Masvidal would go on to make Alpine regret their decision to replace her as she achieved not only her first podium but eight podiums throughout the season. Masvidal proved herself a consistent sight on the podium and in the points and finally completed the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix after the previous two DNFs. Masvidal, for the third time in as many seasons, outqualified her teammate, Lance Stroll, 19:3 and outraced 14:2. Masvidal ended the Championship with 206 points tied for fourth place with, ironically, her partner Charles Leclerc.
Masvidal has decided to continue racing for Aston Martin for the 2024 season beginning in Bahrain on 2 March 2024. Aston Martin’s driver lineup contains no changes and will round out with Alandra Masvidal and Lance Stroll.

Williams rookie Sargeant was 100% sure my F1 dream was dead in 2021 | 2023 F1 season
Williams rookie Logan Sargeant believed his dream of racing in Formula 1 was “dead” when he returned to Formula 3 for a third year in the category two seasons ago. However the 22-year-old will make his Formula 1 debut for Williams this year. He has been promoted to the top flight following a single season in Formula 2 with Carlin. Sargeant almost won the FIA F3 title in 2020 racing with Prema. He lost out to team mate Oscar Piastri by just three points in the final round after being involved in an accident in the final race. In 2021 Sargeant returned to F3 with Charouz but was not a championship contender, taking just a single race win on his way to seventh in the standings. He competed in endurance races in the European Le Mans Series and the Le Mans Cup in the same year and admits that he did not believe he would ever reach Formula 1 at the time. “I was 100% sure it was dead at that point, to be honest,” Sargeant told media including RaceFans at the launch of Williams’ FW45 livery. “At that point I just thought, ‘okay, it’s going to be heading towards the LMP or IndyCar route’. Which at the time I was content with. “It was just my reality at the time, that’s where I felt like was my only two places I could still turn to. The F3 seat was just simply to pass some time and stay in a car and help a team move forward, a different position for myself. The LMP2 races, GT race, was just again a bit of fun and get a bit of experience in endurance and sports car racing. To be honest I feel like it in the end it was all extremely beneficial and helped me massively and so I’m glad I did it all.” Gallery: Williams reveal 2023 F1 livery Sargeant joins Formula 1 as the first full-time American driver since Scott Speed in 2007 and the first American to race in F1 since Alexander Rossi in the 2015 Brazilian Grand Prix. After Williams finished tenth and last in the constructors’ championship in 2022, Sargeant has no defined target for what he wants to achieve in his first season in F1. “There’s definitely no point putting a numerical position on it,” Sargeant said. “I think in the end of the day, I need to come into this season willing to learn as much as I can, be open, be adaptable, and ultimately that’s how I’m going to eventually get the most performance I can out of the car. “Obviously, ideally [I want] to be on top of it as soon as possible, if not immediately, and go from there. So I don’t want to put a date on it or anything. It’s just going to be about fast-tracking as much as I can.” Bringing the F1 news from the source RaceFans strives to bring its readers news directly from the key players in Formula 1. Rio de Janeiro, the capital of the state in which it is located in Brazil, is the second-largest city in the country after São Paulo. Rio de Janeiro, known worldwide for its destinations and entertainments such as the Rio Carnival, samba dance, Christ the Redeemer Statue, Maracanã Stadium, Ipanema Beach, has many touristic areas and natural beauties that will spice up your trip beyond these well-known ones. If we look at the history of the city; Rio de Janeiro, inhabited by the Amazons, was discovered by Portuguese travelers on January 1, 1502. In the 1500s, Guanabara Bay, the area where the city is located, was attacked and invaded by the French many times. In the 17th century, when it was noticed that gold and diamonds were found in the region, the city became an important point in terms of exports. In 1763, the capital of the Portuguese American colony was moved from Salvador to Rio de Janeiro, and after Napoleon's invasion of Portugal, many noble families fled from Lisbon to Rio de Janeiro. After this event, the city became the capital of the kingdom and became the only European capital outside of Europe. With the arrival of the nobles in the city, many local people had to leave their homes and everything special to the local people was left to the nobles. In the same period, there was an influx of slaves from Africa to this region, and the number of slaves in the city reached 220,000 in the 1800s. After Prince Pedro declared the independence of Brazil in 1822, Rio de Janeiro continued to be the capital. The city became famous for its beaches and Capacabana Palace Hotel in the 1930s, and many people from many countries of the world began to flock to this beach party city. Rio de Janeiro hosted the Pan American Games in 2007, the FIFA World Cup in 2014, and World Youth Day in 2013. Where is Rio de Janeiro? Rio de Janeiro, the capital of its state, is located in the southeast of Brazil, a South American country. To the south of the city is the Atlantic Ocean and to the east is the Gulf of Guanabara. When to Go to Rio de Janeiro Visiting Rio de Janeiro in a hot sun and on rainless days will make your exploration of the city more enjoyable, so we can say that the months that should be your priority in your Rio trip are between December and March. Especially if you coincide your trip with the month of February, you can have the chance to experience the world-famous Rio Carnival. February is one of the months with the most touristic visits to the city, offering magnificent panoramic views and feeling the samba dance to your bones. If you want to experience Rio's unique festivals and February is not a suitable date for you, there is a second alternative that is just as lively in the city: the Mae Bumba Carnival, which is held by the locals of the Amazon in June. September – February coincide with the summer months of the city and temperatures reach 40 degrees in this period. Especially during the period from January to March, the temperature in the city intensifies. At the same time, the most precipitation is seen in the summer period. It is the period between March and August, which is the winter months, with the least precipitation and the average temperature is 24 - 25 degrees. Tourists usually show interest in the city on these dates to sunbathe on the beach and explore the city. April and May are the best times to visit the Amazon Region. During this period, the boat shows held in Rio attract the attention of tourists. June to September is the period with the least fog and precipitation for Corcovado and Sugar Loaf. You can also make your trip fun by participating in the Bonfire Festivals (June), Rio BR Film Festival (September - October), Brazilian Grand Prix Horse Races (August) in the country between these months. Where to Stay in Rio de Janeiro Rio de Janeiro is Brazil's coastal metropolis and its third most populous city. The climate of this city, which means "January River" in Portuguese, is tropical.
In this Portuguese-speaking coastal city, you can find hotels according to your budget, join the party life, or isolate yourself from the crowd and relax. Rio de Janeiro Hotels Rio de Janeiro, which is on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, is a very rich city with its cultural and complex iconic monuments. In this region, which is famous for its samba and festivals, besides the touristic places, you can visit the free museums, if you are interested in Portuguese, you can visit the libraries to get acquainted with Portuguese literature. If you are into street art and graffiti, great pieces await you in many places. Arguably the most famous festival of the year is the Rio Festival. Of course, this vibrant city has many more festivals to offer. For example Umbanda, Sea Goddess Festival, June Bonfire Festival, Brazil's Independence Day, Saint Sebastian Celebration Day. If you have the chance and time, you can watch the Plataforma Samba show and go on a daily tour of Rio. Places to visit in Rio de Janeiro Rio de Janeiro, a dreamy country that can give you all kinds of experiences with its golden beaches, lush mountains and forests, nightlife enchanted by samba, the famous Christ the Redeemer Statue, and world-renowned favelas. Rio de Janeiro Attractions Rio is a country that hosts many places to see in terms of history, nature, and entertainment. Ipanema Beach, Copacabana Beach, Christ the Redeemer Statue, Sugar Loaf Mountain, Maracanã Stadium, Tijuca National Park, Samba City, its favelas, Brazilian National Museum, Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden, Brazilian National Museum are some of the most visited attractions. Detailed information about these places. Rio de Janeiro City Transportation There are buses that you can use in Rio De Jenairo city transportation, luxury buses called frescao, metro, minibuses, taxis, ferries and train network. In general, the means of transportation in Rio are safe for tourists, but we recommend that you prefer a taxi first at night. We can say that Rio's urban transportation is cheaper than other countries. BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) buses are frequently used for transportation from the airport to the city and within the city. These buses, which have an extensive network, cost 3.40 Brazilian real and these lines operate 24 hours a day. The metro network, consisting of two main lines Linha 1 (red) and Linha 2 (green), is the fastest means of transportation between the south, north and center of the city. You can reach many touristic areas by metro. The subway fare is 3.10 Brazilian reals and the subways are open from 05:00 am to midnight on regular days, and from 07:00 am to 11:00 pm on holidays. Taxis are the safest means of transport, which work quite well in Rio and especially at night. Taxi fares vary according to your luggage weight, holidays and time zones. The taxi starts at 5.20 Brazilian real and adds 2.05 real per kilometer. You can take a ferry or hire one of the private boats to go by sea to the nearby coastal towns, Gunabara and Niteroi. There is a 400-kilometer bike-friendly route in the city of Rio, there are also many bike rental businesses in the city, and it can be a pleasant option to complete your trip by bike. If you want, you can rent a car both from the airport and in the city, but we do not recommend renting a car in a city where you are visiting for the first time. Cuisine of Rio de Janeiro Brazilian cuisine, which is highly influenced by American and African cuisines, is a cuisine with a wide variety of dishes. Root vegetables are the most common type you will come across in Brazilian dishes. In addition, tropical fruits are frequently used in meals as they grow very well in the region. Mango, papaya, pineapple, guava, and granadilla fruits are the fruits you'll most likely encounter. Most dishes use beans and rice, with the most preferred animal products being beef, pork and seafood. Brazil's most famous dish is feijoada, also known as black bean stew with smoked meat.
Main dishes also include local delicacies such as vatapa made with a walnut and cashew nut dish, moqueca de peixe, a coconut-flavored fish stew, cururu de camaro, a combination of shrimp and okra, and chancaca made with a flaked salmon and pineapple. If we look at the Brazilian breakfast culture, breakfast is served early in the country and morning coffee is the most important part of breakfast. Ipanema district for cheap juices and the most successful dishes, Gavea district for luxury meals with lake views, Copacabana district for ethnic dishes and small buffets, Flamengo district and its surroundings for pizza and Japanese delicacies, Centro district for a good lunch on stone streets. We have compiled the most famous Rio restaurants for you: CT Boucherie: Lamb, duck breast, grilled vegetables and grilled fish are the most preferred dishes in the traditional barbecue restaurant prepared by the city's most famous chef, Claude Troisgros. Located in Ipanema, the restaurant has a pleasant ambiance. Casa Momus: One of Lapa's most popular restaurants, Casa Momus has a menu influenced by Mediterranean cuisine. Shrimp croquette, spicy gorgonzola, fried polenta, sesame tuna, pork tenderloin are some of the most preferred dishes at the restaurant. In addition, the restaurant is decorated in a 19th-century building. Espirito Santa: Located in the Santa Teresa district, the restaurant has a large terrace and an amazing view. Influenced by Amazonian and Northeastern cuisine, you can experience a delicious river fish pintado and Amazonian juices at the restaurant. Lasai: The meals in the daily menu, created with daily fresh vegetables from the chef's garden, are very successful and no customers are accepted without reservation. Boulangerie Guerin: The French patisserie that offers Rio's best croissants, sweet table sugar (chocolate filled pastry) and eclairs can be a place to choose in the Copacabana region. In addition to the traditional restaurants in the city, you can reach the restaurants of the well-known chains in shopping centers or on busy streets. However, we recommend that you try Brazilian flavors instead of known flavors, as Brazilian dishes are light. Shopping in Rio De Janeiro Rio's shopping options are known for appealing to all tastes and income groups. From the modern shopping centers of Zona Sul to the stylish boutiques of Ipanema, the city is a frequent destination especially for fashionistas. You can feel the atmosphere of Paris, Milan in Rio De Janeiro fashion shopping. Authentic clothing, jewellery, handicrafts and musical instruments are some of Rio's most preferred products. There are some products we recommend to take home from Rio. There are many products that you can buy, especially in the field of art. Local and primitive artifacts, antiques, handmade hammocks, bird sculptures, brightly colored cloth kites, leather bags and belts are among the most purchased items. You can buy musical instruments such as Berimbau, which are used especially in carnival, as souvenirs or to remind you of Rio in your home. Due to the fact that it is a coastal city, Rio's swimsuits and slippers are also very famous. The city, which has an advanced sense of fashion compared to Europe and North America, has many boutiques and you can shop for clothes from them. One of the most purchased items in Rio is gemstones. Many stones such as amethys, aquamarine, opal, topaz, diamond, emerald, ruby, sapphire are produced in Brazil and you can find such precious stones everywhere from the city center to the side streets. If we talk about shopping spots, Ipanema is the place that hosts the most sophisticated boutiques of the city. The main shopping center is Rua Visconde de Piraja. In addition, there are many shops worth seeing in the side streets of the region. The Hippie Fair, which opens on Sundays in Praca General Osoria, is also a very popular place and you can buy some artistic products such as rugs, upholstery, carpets and paintings.
The most preferred region for jewelry is the west side of Ipanema. Copacabana region, on the other hand, is one of the cheapest and most preferred regions apart from clothing. The most suitable places for bargaining are the markets in the side streets. Apart from these regions, shopping centers in the city are generally open between 09:00 and 18:00. In shopping malls with high demand, the closing time can reach 22.00. The most preferred shopping centers are Village Mall, Shopping Nova America, Shopping Tijuca, Shopping Rio Sul, Shopping Leblon and Shopping Recreio. We can say that the prices of shopping centers with many chains are above the average. Nightlife in Rio De Janeiro Of course, we cannot separate the nightlife from the samba parties, as one of the first things that comes to mind when Rio De Janeiro is mentioned is the samba dance. In addition, the city starts to come alive every night after 22:00 and live music, nightclubs, bars, concerts, street parties are lively in many places. Especially the street parties of Rio will give you unforgettable moments, but we can say that this high-end entertainment is more expensive than other cities. There are mobile alcohol sellers on the street and their prices are cheaper than in the venues, it is more reasonable to consume alcohol on the street before entering your destination. If it is your priority to choose national drinks in the places you will go, it may be more affordable. Leaving a 10% tip is almost mandatory in Brazilian culture. In most bars, ID is required, carrying ID is mandatory in the city, so you should have your passport with you to avoid any problems. In Rio, you cannot enter many bars in slippers or shorts. We would like to point out that in some places, you will be taken inside based on the outside appearance. Bars are generally open between 18.00-02.00 and nightclubs between 23.00-05.00. Beer costs between 6 - 10 reals, while cocktails average 22 - 30 reals. Lapa is one of the regions where nightlife is most lively. Almost all bars and nightclubs are located here. Hippie-style bars, samba parties and electro music are common in the area where street parties are intense. The Zona Sul area, on the other hand, is very famous for its home-style parties. Copacabana and Ipanema districts are also surrounded by bars, the bars in these areas will be more shabby but will offer you a colorful night. Praça Sao Salvador area is a more sports-oriented night entertainment center with jugglers, pop-up theater performers, skateboarders. The Arcos do Teles area, on the other hand, offers entertainment in a more artistic area with its cobblestone streets and colonial architecture, and you can also consider enjoying the city in the bars in the area as an option. We have compiled the most selected places in Rio for you. Fosfobox: Located in the very heart of Copacabana, next to the Siqueira Campos metro station, Fosfobox; It is one of the most preferred venues for genres such as deephouse, rock & roll, hip-hop. You can dance all night long at the bar, which offers a variety of cocktails. Febarj: Perfectly located in Lapa, Febarj holds Brazilian nights on Fridays and Saturdays and enjoys the local dance of samba, otherwise it is one of the top destinations for Brazilian hip hop. Circo Voador: It is in Circo Lapa, one of the most famous nightclubs in the city. You can listen to live music by local bands in the venue, which is a concert venue. The Legacy of Michael Schumacher in Formula One
When a young German driver made his Formula One debut at the Belgium Grand Prix in 1991 as a replacement driver for the Irish Jordan-Ford team, little did the paddock around him know the lasting impact that he would have on the sport. When he made his debut in the sport which he would eventually become synonymous with, Michael Schumacher was a relatively unknown driver but he made himself known quickly by qualifying seventh, already matching the team's second highest qualifying performance of the season. Schumacher was then quickly signed by Benetton for the rest of the 1991 season and he would win his first and second drivers' titles consecutively in 1994 and 1995 with the team, before moving to a struggling Ferrari team and returning them to the glory days they had dreamed of since the '70's, when he achieved the momentous five in a row and become the first seven time world champion.
Thirty years on from Schumacher's debut, Max Verstappen has become the first World Champion not to have raced against the great German driver since Niki Lauda.
Lauda, won his third and final World Championship in 1984 and retired from racing in F1 in 1985, was followed by Alan Prost (who won the championship in 1985, 1986 & 1989, and then again in 1993), Nelson Piquet (who won his third and final title in 1987), Aryton Senna (the legendary Brazilian won his three world titles in 1988, 1990 & 1991, respectively), Nigel Mansell (who won his world title in 1992), Damon Hill (who clenched the title in 1996), Jacques Villeneuve (the World Champion of 1997), Mika Häkkinen (who won his two world titles in 1998 & 1999), Fernando Alonso (who claimed the title in 2005 & 2006, respectively), Kimi Räikkönen (who, in 2007, became the first - and so far the only - Ferrari driver since Michael himself to claim the title), Lewis Hamilton (the only other driver to achieve seven world titles, winning in 2008, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020, respectively), Jensen Button (who achieved the title in 2009), Sebastian Vettel (who became the youngest World Champion when he first won in 2010, he therefore is also the youngest driver to achieve four world championships in row as he also won the title again in 2011, 2012 & 2013, respectively) & Nico Rosberg (who achieved his championship in 2016) who all raced against Michael Schumacher at least once during his years in F1 (between 1991 & 2006 and then from 2010 to 2012).
Max's win makes him the first Dutch driver to get his hands on the trophy but the Dutchman's wins is reflective of something more. We are at the dawn of a new era in Formula One. A new generation of drivers are coming to the forefront of the sport, drivers like Alex Albon (who's rejoining the grid with Williams after a year's absence), Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri), Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), Lando Norris (Maclaren), Esteban Ocon (Alpine), George Russell (who's moving from Williams to Mercedes in the new year), Yuki Tsunoda (Alpha Tauri) & Guanyu Zhou (who is making his Formula One debut at Alfa Romeo in the new year and is also the first Chinese driver in Formula One's history). Majority of these drivers grew up competing with each other in karting, formula 3, formula 2, etc, and most importantly were all inspired by the legendary German driver.
It's mad to think that 37 years worth of champions all raced with Michael but it's also mad to think the first driver not to have raced against Michael in Formula One has photos like these with the - arguably - greatest formula 1 driver of all time:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's interviews with Michael & Max's father from the early 2000's where they talk about their kids & if they could see them in f1 (in one such interview, Michael jokes that they have never had any sort of argument in their friendship but this could be the first if "our two" would be racing each other & Jos remarked that they're similar ages (Max is only 2 years older than Mick) so they would probably compete against each other if they decide to go into racing as they grow up, which they've both have now. It's fitting perhaps, that this year, the year Max has become World Champion, Mick is on the grid beside him. In the same interview, Michael added laughing that he thinks horse riding is a much better sport for their kids, which his oldest child Gina does now almost 20 years later.
Some may claim this is the passing of the torch, but I will always argue that Michael already passed the torch in his final race, to his friend and fellow German driver Sebastian Vettel. While Vettel had already clenched the decisive grid position to guarantee he'd have the points to become a world champion once again, Schumacher allowed Vettel to overtake him without any defense and simply waved him through, essentially changing the guard, passing the torch from era of drivers to the next. While Sebastian's story is still being written to this day, Michael's time in F1 drew to a close as he watched the kingdom lights shine on his friend, who he had known as a child, become not only a four time world champion but the youngest four time champion in history. Drivers like Prost, Piquet, Mansell and the legendary Senna, are all connected to Sebastian - and thus the rest of his era and those who followed them into the sport - by Michael. The torch still burns bright.
This is, however, a poignant moment to reflect. Michael remains the only driver to achieve five championships in a row (Juan Manuel Fangio being the only other driver to achieve five world championships, outside of the two seven time world champions; Hamilton & Schumacher), a record he retains for the foreseeable future. He also still holds the record of most fastest laps (77) and still shares the record of seven World titles with Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton, Vettel and Alonso are all signed for at least another year in Formula One and can/will contend for future world titles but the door has been opened for the younger drivers to breakthrough. Today belongs to Max, those young drivers and the legacy of one German driver who debuted thirty years ago.
Said German driver's greatest legacy is still being written. His son has been unanimously praised during his rookie season in the sport, his hard work and dedication reminiscent of his father's. Little did he know when he was giving that interview that his son would follow in his footsteps or that his friend's son would be the first world champion in 37 years not to have raced against him but perhaps it was clear to him even then that his greatest legacy would be firmly written by his son and daughter.

today's Kym Illman's instagram post about Pierre & Charles put back in chronological order with additional information about their careers:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(the second photo has the potential to become a meme; I'd like to know what they were talking about 😂)
2018 - their first full season in F1: Charles with Alfa Romeo, after his F2 World Championship in 2017 with Prema Racing, ahead of Nicholas Latifi (5th), Nyck de Vries (7th) or Alex Albon (10th) and his GP3 series World Championship in 2016 with ART Grand Prix; and Pierre after his GP2 title in 2016, followed by a second place in the Japanese Super Formula Championship, one-half point behind 2017 champion Hiroaki Ishiura, he also raced in FE (New York ePrix) and replaced Daniil Kvyat for 5 GPs at the end of 2017 at Toro Rosso: Malaysia, Japan, Mexico, Brazil and Abu Dhabi.
Charles finished his first season in 13th place in the drivers' championship with 39 points scored (30 points ahead of teammate Marcus Ericsson), and Pierre in 15th place, with 29 points scored (15 points ahead of teammate Brandon Hartley).
-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2019 - both promoted in the top three teams: Charles at Ferrari alongside Sebastian Vettel after a swap with 2007 World Champion Kimi Räikkönen; and Pierre, at Red Bull, after Daniel Ricciardo left for Renault, alongside Grand Prix winner and Red Bull star Max Verstappen. Charles became a Grand Prix winner twice: at the Belgian GP, in honour of his and Pierre dear and beloved friend Anthoine Hubert, and a second time, the following week, at Monza, in front of thousands of Tifozzi - a first for Ferrari since Fernando Alonso in 2010.
Tumblr media
I think this photo was taken during Pierre's first (unexpected) podium of 2019, at the Brazilian GP, after he was sent back to Toro Rosso during the summer break, replacing Alex Albon who was thus making his way back to Red Bull, after only half a season.
Charles finished the drivers' championship in 4th position, behind Max Verstappen and Mercedes drivers and ahead of his teammate, with 264 points scored (24 points ahead of teammate Sebastian Vettel) with 2 wins, 7 poles 10 podiums (and 18 times in the points in 21 races). Pierre finished the season in 7th position, with 95 points scored, one podium (Brazil) and 14 points finishes (58 points ahead of teammate Daniil Kvyat* who drove the Toro Rosso all season, unlike Pierre).

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2020-21: two Grand-Prix winner - after Pierre's unexpected victory in Monza 2020, one year after Charles, two childhood best friends walking in the paddock, laughing together, but rivals on the track. Charles confirmed at Ferrari in 2020 despite a car that was performing well below expectations, becoming the lead driver in 2021 after veteran 4-time world champion Sebastian Vettel left for Aston Marton, replaced by Carlos Sainz. In 2021, Charles was overtaken in the drivers' championship by his teammate (164.5 points to 159), with both drivers on equal terms. Pierre had a very good season in 2020: the team's second win, at Monza, twelve years after Sebastian Vettel's victory in 2008 on the same circuit. He confirmed his role as leader of Alpha Tauri by achieving the best season in terms of points in the history of the team* (change in point allocation since 2010 & longest season in F1 history), alongside rookie Yuki Tsunoda who learned by his side.
In 2020: Charles finished the drivers' championship in 8th position with 98 points (55 points ahead of his unlucky teammate Sebastian Vettel, 12th) with two podiums (Austria, Great Britain), while Pierre finished in 10th position with 75 points and one win (43 points ahead of his teammate Daniil Kvyat).
In 2021: Charles finished the drivers' championship in 7th position with 159 points (5.5 points behind his teammate Carlos Sainz Jr, 5th) with one podium (Great Britain), Pierre, on the other hand, finished the championship in 9th position with 110 points and one podium (Baku) (78 points ahead of his rookie teammate Yuki Tsunoda).
