(( I'm sorry but I'm not comfortable answering this question. That moment left so deep wounds that I only talk about it with my closest people.

(( Hmm... probably Rukiko RP story with @ask-ruki-mukami. The main story is far from finished but it's currently ~60 000 words and then we have all the side stories on Tumblr and Discord... probably 10 000 more words at least. It's going to be huge.

(( Hmm... I think that varies depending on the group. I would say I know many people because of my work and many of them could be seen as friends. But I have very few close ones... 3-4 pretty close and only one very close at the moment.

(( Hang around, drink tea or coffee and talk about gaming and writing. Well, about books and our daily lives too. Sometimes we go book shopping or to anime-related events.

How long has he been on the roof? Jackie’s completely lost track of time, lost track of the sound of traffic down below. It’s dark, with the moon shining brightly in the sky, almost seeming to shine down right on him. Jackie could almost get the sensation that its picking him out of the city, as if to tell the world where exactly he is.

Even the moon can’t give him a god damned break.

His blunt’s only half smoked, sitting pinched between his index finger and thumb. He stares at it, holding it up to the moon as if he’s offering someone a hit. Next to him is a half drunk bottle of whiskey, which he’d guzzled not even an hour ago. Jackie’s more buzzed from the marijuana than he is the alcohol, but the combination of both is giving him a nice buzz anyway, he doesn’t exactly want to come down off this high anyway.

He’s been tired for so long. He’s been fighting so many battles, carrying too many burdens on his shoulders. He can’t remember the last time he had an actual break from life, in general. It probably doesn’t even matter now, he’s become so numb, that it’s moments like this that give him the little bouts of happiness he feels anymore. Too may problems to solve, so many lives to repair, and all of it on his head.

Sure, he could let the others in and let them help. He could shift the burden and let other people carry him for awhile, but Jackie doesn’t know how to let go, either. He’d rather carry all the burden and blame, keel over and die, than watch someone else go through the same sort of hell he’s in. It’d be easy for him to waste away and die at this rate.

He’d welcome it.

Sitting back up, Jackie grabs at the bottle, lifting it up toward the moon, giving it a mock smile before taking a swig. “Not even you can leave me alone, huh? Gotta shine a fucking spotlight on me, can’t let me go five minutes alone, huh?” He looks around, as if expecting a demon to jump out of the shadows at him, claws at the ready to cut him open. He could lose another eye, that’d be cool.

There’s no one there. No one’s creeping in the shadows, no one’s lurking in the distance. If they are, he can’t see them. He turns back around, staring down at the traffic. Too many innocent people, none of them with any idea of the isolated, depressed hero sitting above them. The thankless, guiltless, shitheads in their own lives, unaware of all the burdens Jackie’s taken for them.

“Fuck you all.”

He upturns the bottle, sending the rest of the contents of whiskey over the edge, watching it dribble down the side of the building. Dribbling down, just like his sanity, his strength, his very soul.. It can all fade away, he doesn’t care.

All that’s left is his blunt, so Jackie lays back down, sticking the blunt between his lips to smoke.His grip on the bottle loosens, and Jackie doesn’t care when he feels it rolling away.

He’ll come back later to take care of his friends. He’ll come back and fake another smile, make sure no one’s in trouble, and go back to being the hero they all want.

For now, he’s just Jackie, a broken down man who’s in over his head. And that’s what he’ll be for the rest of the night.
